something in sctir i'm obsessed with and cannot stop thinking about is when song taewon sees yoohyun break down when he thinks yoojin has gone off to die and taewon, for the first time in his life, thinks about an s class hunter: "oh. this is a child crying"

like when he realizes how serious yoohyun's love for yoojin is and i read it and i go yeah. yeah! that's what happens when you're the only one who loves a monster. it loves you back.

in the same vein i Love it when novel or manhwa go a bit into yoohyun's perspective and it is so clear that he really is something Other. something Not Human. (and that's not a bad thing) my money was on some fire elemental reborn into a human body (because of that whole part where he went 'i'll burn everything and return to my original form') but idk. he's Something for sure and i think about it a Lot

the eddie kissing buck first propaganda needs to be stopped at all cost ✋I know i know, i'm probably going to be taken out back and shot several times BUT hear me out:

buck needs to get off that squeaky spinning wheel and for that he needs to be the one initiating Something -either love confession or kiss or both i'm not picky- because as my good friend Bobby (#rip) said he's always been the one going with the flow and not knowing how he even got into a relationship in the first place so him breaking that pattern is essential to his own personal growth. he hasn't initiated a first kiss on screen a single time. he's always been either caught by surprise (taylor and tommy), or been asked out on a date without necessarily expecting it (ali and natalia), and even his first date with abby mostly happened because of external pressure (hen and athena cornering them), and she ended up being the one to kiss him first later on.

and for eddie it's the opposite, he's always been the one initating pretty much everything with his love interests: calling shannon in the first place and then kissing her first, asking ana and marisol out on a date. He's always had to make that choice for himself, and buck pretty much jumped any time someone showed interest in him and only started considering his own feelings when things started to get rocky in his relationships. So them actually switching that because buck is that sure of his feelings for the first time, oh that would be so juicy, so good, so delicious.

anyway this is not me starting discourse ❌ because i hate that but just me officially campaigning (at the very last minute) for buck initiating the love confession and/or their first kiss. thank you for your consideration 🙏

so on the subject of the "Crowley is secretly Revaan/Laverne/Levin/please Twst give us his name" theory, I think my feelings are best summed up as "I don't really buy it, but it's funny". like, in all seriousness, I'm not opposed to it; I have enjoyed the writing in Twst so far and I'm willing to trust that whatever happens will, you know, make sense and not be terrible. but I'm just not really convinced by the current evidence! maybe that'll change once we learn more, we'll see!

with that said, may I propose a few alternate theories about the possible Crowley/Revaan connection:

i know we love to rag on Siffrin for feeling so miserably guilty and manipulative for the crime of [checks notes] “doing nice things for their friends so that they’ll be happy and care about him even if it’s not perfectly sincere on his end”

but like. in context i don’t think that thought process is anywhere near as nonsensical as it always sounds written out like that

i’m sure i’m just stating the obvious here but it’s not really about the “crime” of making people happy. it’s about what he’s not doing, which is anything that would allow their friends to have any real knowledge or agency over the situation they’re all in.

it’s about never acting according to his real feelings in the moment and letting them see the messier version of him that exists now, never allowing their relationships to evolve or develop meaningfully beyond the “safest” iteration, the thing that is Known and produces the Correct Results, because anything else has the possibility of leading to negative emotions towards Siffrin.

Siffrin knows he’s not really doing all this for their benefit, not entirely, because the “right” thing to do would give them the full context to choose how they feel and what to do about it. they’re happy, but in a way they don’t get to keep. they’re happy, but in a way that keeps Siffrin safe from anything more complex and real. they’re happy, but only because some Siffrin in the past said the right things once, and this new, bitter, lonely, desperate version wouldn’t know how to get the “correct result” without a script to follow. they’re happy, and it was real once, it meant something once, but not anymore.

they cared about that Siffrin, yes, but would they still care about this one, if they knew? if Siffrin ever allowed them to know? (he won’t, he can’t, he refuses.)

and there’s something that could have been said in favor of Siffrin allowing himself this “selfishness” if it made him happy anyway, if it could be a genuine source of comfort in a difficult situation—but it doesn’t! not really! because that guilt is there, because that fear is there, because of how flimsy it all inevitably feels.

so they’re not doing it for their family’s benefit, because that happiness is predicated on lies and ignorance. he’s barely doing it for his own benefit, because they’re torturing themself by revealing things they no longer want to reveal, concealing things they no longer want to conceal, acting out of fear of rejection rather than genuine desire for connection. who benefits from this hollow “kindness,” really?

that’s why the last loop had to be the ugliest one. Siffrin had to see that the worst could happen and there could still be love and connection on the other side. that even when the party sees the worst of him, when they have the agency he’s been knowingly denying them, they will still choose to love him.

A lot of you guys are not processing that the stuff you are reading about on the news is real life and when you go to bat saying a guy who organizes pro Hamas protests should not be legally deported for supporting terrorism as per US law, you are 1. agreeing that antisemitic terrorism specifically shouldn't be classified as terrorism and 2. are abandoning the roughly 100k Jews who actually live in the direct vicinity of Columbia University to continuously be harassed by organized and well funded pro Hamas mobs.
