And I’m loving the thought of him being your dad’s best friend and they’re in the mafia together? Your dad kept you as far away from his work life as he could and it was only when you turned 18 that he eased you into it but the decision was totally yours.

So that’s maybe how you met Bucky. You were a doe eyed 18-20 year old and he was this huge big bulky, intimidating man but he had the softest spot for you because you looked like you didn’t belong there in the slightest.

Over the years, Bucky and his wife had a couple of kids, two adorable little boys that caused just as much havoc as Bucky himself and you were kind enough to look after them when need be.

But after looking after the boys for a bit, you started to notice Bucky’s wife went out more and more. She was rarely with her husband and as much as you didn’t want to interfere with his personal life, you started noticing changes around the house. Maybe a tie stuffed down the side of the couch that you’d never seen bucky wear or a pair of men’s shoes in Mrs Barnes’ closet that were a couple of sizes too small for her husband

After a while, their marriage falls apart, maybe Bucky finds out about the affair or maybe she leaves him for the other man but either way, Bucky becomes a single father with joint custody of his boys but a crazy work life that he slows down so he can spend more time with his children

So you keep babysitting when you need to as his boys grow up and then maybe things start to develop between you and Bucky? Because he’d absolutely admire the long hours you put in to make sure his boys are safe while he’s at work and his heart melts every time one of them falls and gets a lil scratch on their knee and they want you to make it better.

Life of St. Albert the Great

Albert the Great was a 13th-century German Dominican who decisively influenced the Church’s stance toward Aristotelian philosophy brought to Europe by the spread of Islam.

Students of philosophy know him as the master of Thomas Aquinas. Albert’s attempt to understand Aristotle’s writings established the climate in which Thomas Aquinas developed his synthesis of Greek wisdom and Christian theology. But Albert deserves recognition on his own merits as a curious, honest, and diligent scholar.

He was the eldest son of a powerful and wealthy German lord of military rank. He was educated in the liberal arts. Despite fierce family opposition, he entered the Dominican novitiate.

His boundless interests prompted him to write a compendium of all knowledge: natural science, logic, rhetoric, mathematics, astronomy, ethics, economics, politics, and metaphysics. His explanation of learning took 20 years to complete. “Our intention,” he said, “is to make all the aforesaid parts of knowledge intelligible to the Latins.”

He achieved his goal while serving as an educator at Paris and Cologne, as Dominican provincial, and even as bishop of Regensburg for a short time. He defended the mendicant orders and preached the Crusade in Germany and Bohemia.

Albert, a Doctor of the Church, is the patron of scientists and philosophers.

i just read a fic that was similar to one that i’m writing (john comes back in late season spn) and it was SO well written that it made me want to never, ever write again. the only thing i have to cling to is that even though the dialogue etc was good the characters and their ACTIONS were like...ooc. i’m a mediocre writer on my best day but at the very least i can keep people IC and summon up some fucking nuance
