Hello everyone today subject is about the toxicity of my mother aborted me (mileven for the uneducated) from season one to the current season, season four.

Introduction

                 Milkman is for the general audience the main ship of the series since el is the protagonist (who of course by accident forget than will is too but anyway…), and mike was the main force of action in season 1 and 2. They’re the average perfect couple, a “normal teenage romance” even. Eleven is the badass, powerful super hero who always save the day with of course no flaws and Mike is the first boy who showed affection to Eleven. He was charmed by the beauty and perfection of our god lord Jesus Eleven, who he is completely obsessed with and want the rest of his life with her. They love each other so much that they are each other favorite person and of course the most endgame ship of all.

                 Well what if I told you that every, sentence I just told you was utter crap. Because in reality it may be one of the more toxic ship which is still canon in the show right now.

Chapter one: Eleven perspective.

Paragraph one: Who is she....Really?

In season one, when mike nearly died at the end of the bullies, mike reassure her that she wasn’t a monster and that her actions were justified. Eleven saved him and he loved her

In season 4, El defended herself from bullies just like in the past (she broke troy arm and broke Angela nose) but this time mike treat her like she’s a monster. Why? Because it wasn’t eleven, the invincible superhero, it was just Jane, the vulnerable Jane.

El was always used as a weapon even when she became free from the lab, when there was a problem, well it seems like we need eleven!          

“Hey eleven you were nearly sent to jail but you need to save not only your best friend from an horrible death and the entire freaking world from this psychopath who is one of main source of trauma or everyone is gonna freaking die, so get inside the shit and live again that traumatic experience”. Like bruh. Eleven always had her powers, they defined who she was to most, when peeps talk about her it’s mostly by her capacity. It’s never about her funny personality, her talent in art and craft, her love for cheesy romance and Miami vice, no it always was for her powers. She was just eleven.

Without her powers she felt miserable because now, in reality she felt like nothing. When Bitchela and the others bullied her she felt helpless. Before she defended herself with her powers but now she as to live without that part of identity. She was just Jane.

Eleven always was a super hero but Jane was just nobody, who would need a nobody.

Everyone need Eleven and her differences make her special, but Jane she a freak because of who she is. Only a few realize that being her is not cool all the times and can be so difficult (Will my boy...). Jane is a girl who can learn by herself and love, a girl who is just a girl with teen drama. Eleven is the lab rat who opened the gate and caused the death of good people.

So in the end who is she?

The perspective that others have on her change the way that see herself. Everyone pushed on her this ideal that it’s her power who define who she is. Expect some exception like our queen max. But it was max who gave her for the first time the chance to be her, the true her.

Not eleven not Jane, El

El is a young girl who loves eggo waffles, shopping and art and craft. El is a girl who like cheesy romance, she’s curious and creative. It’s the independent, strong and brave young girl who fought against the pain and the trauma for people she cared about. It’s the vulnerable, the emotional and emphatic girl who make mistake but always try to learn. Oh, and also she has powers.

This is the true her, the girl that she developed to be slowly towards the course of the story. Her journey to become her is slowly getting close to the end. She still has one obstacle to finish it...

Sons vs Daughters in Dragonball Z

If you have read my dbz posts, you will know that Gohan and Future Trunks are my fav characters. I also love their fathers, despite how much I may criticize Goku as a father. In my Gohan post, I mentioned that the Saiyan girls did not deliver. The girls who were born later in general do not really amount to anything besides Pan (she was still kind of disappointing).

It came to mind a few days ago that the sons and daughters in dbz signify different things in dragonball which I find very problematic. Notice who has daughters and when those daughters were born. Goku, Gohan, Vegeta and Krillin to be specific.

First let's look at Goku. Goku is the main fighter, the most powerful. He has TWO SONS. Gohan especially was powerful and was a key fighter in all the battles in dbz. The Cell saga ended with Gohan as the most powerful fighter. The second son Goten is also special (less than Gohan though). He's the youngest super saiyan by the end of dbz and he's very talented. Most of his training came from Chi Chi based on the anime. He got a little bit of advanced training from Gohan and he had a fighting partner in Trunks. Despite this disadvantage, Goten is able to keep up with Trunks even though Trunks trained with Vegeta for most of his life (you bet Trunks was training from the moment he could walk). Like it or not, sons represent power and legacy and Goku had 2 strong sons who played major roles in battles in dbz. The main character has no daughters.

Vegeta has Trunks who was born around the climax of Vegeta's arc as a fighter. When he had his son, Vegeta was the most or second most powerful fighter in the group. Future Trunks in particular is special because he was basically the savior in the android saga. Without him, the future was doomed. He was a capable fighter as well and his iconic status is well deserved. If there is one reason to like Vegeta, it is the existence of Future Trunks.

Now you have the daughters. These girls were born in times of peace: Bulla/Bra, Marron and Pan. Plus, they were born when their fathers were reformed or had settled down. In a way, the daughters could arguably represent weakness and complacency. Vegeta is now a tame family man and has embraced Earth as his home - he gets a daughter. Krillin settles with Android 18, stops training and shaving his hair - he gets a daughter. Gohan is a scholar who basically stopped training after the Cell games - he gets a daughter. Basically when they stop being badasses/iconic characters, they have daughters. There is nothing wrong with men having daughters. But I am a bit disappointed with those in dbz. When we see Marron in GT, she's a regular girl shopping with her parents. Can she even fly? It does not look like either of her parents taught her basic defense. When Android 17 attacked, she was basically a sitting duck. Bulla is a typical spoiled rich daddy's girl. Has she trained with Vegeta? Since her energy was used as a power source for Baby I believe, maybe she has some training but there is no evidence I can recall. Pan is the only fighter and she can't even hold a candle to Kid Goten. She can't transform and she's honestly not that great. Her shirt is also a pet peeve of mine. This is the daughter of Gohan and Videl who were tough fighters in their own right in their prime. This is Goku's grandkid. If anyone has the potential to take names, it should be Pan. At least she has that fighting spirit I suppose.

This link also sends a bad message about child soldiers. The boys have to fight on the front lines and the girls are protected and sheltered. Pan is able to make the decision to be involved in the fight. Despite her go getter attitude, Pan had a lot of damsel in distress moments where Grandpa Goku had to save her. Gohan had it the worst IMO. His childhood was non-existent and then he had his teenage years without a father. At least, Trunks and Goten had an easier childhood (only one enemy when they were minors). Their mothers cuddled them and even Piccolo was reduced to babysitter with Gotenks. Wish Piccolo treated Gohan with kid gloves like that.

There's nothing special about the daughters compared to the sons. Who cares about Bulla/Bra or Marron? Pan is only interesting because she stuck her nose in matters that she had no business in. The sons are born in adversity and during heights of power and the girls in peace and prosperity.

WELCOME TO A CRASH COURSE ON STEREK 

dear @mimsyaf​ and anyone else who wants to hear me ramble about teen wolf: let me introduce you to stiles stilinski, derek hale, and conspicuously absent scott mccall who i will actually not be introducing you to. 

“The baby” is Mieczyslaw “Stiles” Stilinski, who is not the “teen wolf” because he is human. He’s the “research guy” in every supernatural-crime-drama show. He’s hyperactive-awkward, goofy-anxious (he acts as the show’s comedy relief), witty and extremely stubborn, and drinks I Love My Friends juice every morning. He lives with his dad, the Sheriff (his mom passed away when he was a kid and it was just. horrible and he still deals with it), and he sometimes has panic attacks. He also drinks I Love My Dad juice every morning, and likewise his dad drinks I Love My Son juice. In Season 3 part 2 he gets possessed by a demon trickster fox spirit and goes on a murder rampage all while making dark sex eyes at everything, which is hot very terrifying and bad and genuinely pretty traumatic for stiles, too, so i’m sorry. (shoutout to dylan o’brien’s acting skills, teen wolf is so bad sometimes (all the time) but his work really shines through. buddy’s gonna get an oscar some day). In Season 1 and 2 he has a buzzcut which is probably where you’re getting the baby feelings. 

“The brooding dark one who is clearly a werewolf and also not a teen” is Derek Hale who, as you guessed, is a werewolf but is also not the “teen wolf” because he’s. he’s just not. (Canonically his age is… very mixed because he was supposed to be three years older than Stiles in the pilot, and then somewhere down the line they racked up his age so it’s just confusing.) He’s very angsty/incredibly traumatized with a heart of gold. (The trauma thing happens pre-show and it’s… astronomically bad. won’t go into all the details but when he was a teen he got (really inappropriately horribly) manipulated by a werewolf hunter who then burned most of his family alive. and this is only one of the two traumatic events in his life). Anyways. He’s also not a police officer [see footnote 1], he’s in fact been arrested for accused murder and serial-killing and murdery things, despite the fact that Derek Hale Has Never Done Anything Wrong Ever and Stiles Stilinski will Die Defending That Truth. At one point he became an Alpha werewolf after killing his uncle, Peter Hale, who was an alpha who got his power by murdering his niece, Derek’s sister Laura Hale, who inherited her alpha power from their mother Talia Hale who was super badass and regal and it sucks that we only see her through one flashback some random dude. (also peter is resurrected and now serves as annoying villain / sassy comic relief / reluctant supporter to the pack). Alphas have Beta werewolves, which make up a pack. In canon Derek was kind of a shitty alpha to his betas, but to be fair, Derek was never taught how to be an alpha before his family died, and he’s literally like. 22 or something maybe. A lot of fanfics center around Derek healing and forming a supportive and strong pack (especially Stiles showing Derek that it’s okay to trust people and care about people because they care about you too). He has an awesome fidget spinner back tattoo.

And finally, assuming that the werewolf teenage cast member from the Crucible and the brooding policeman some guy of Eastern European descent are Stiles and Derek… Yes. They do bang [see footnotes 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6] among other things like deep declarations of love and companionship and the promise that they’ll take care of each other (god i wish this were true).

(mimsy if you can believe this, there were so many important gifs in my original essay. and now they are lost in time. like... tears... in rain.) 

(anyways i feel the urge to expand on all my thoughts of sterek and why they fit together so well but that’s legitimately going to take a thousand words so I’ll just say. They’re good together. Sun and moon.) 

(also i… actually don’t know what the werewolf lifespan is, because there’s one werewolf that shows up in a WW2 flashback and is still pretty much the same in the present day. but your reverend hale thing is giving me ideas.) 

Extra note: Beacon Hills Police Department unfortunately does not allow babies on the police force but they do allow Stiles to basically do whatever the hell he wants re: Charlie Kelly conspiracy boards because remember, Stiles’ dad is the sheriff! (and also later in the show Stiles joins the FBI so he’s. there)

[4] in all honesty sterek was... massively queerbaited, like during so many cons and events the actors and the producer were like “maybe sterek will happen in the tv show, idk, we’ll see [wink wink].” promo material for new seasons sometimes overemphasized sterek scenes to increase engagement. many actors on the show (including, i think, both actors for stiles and derek?) said that they supported sterek. and there was literally a video where stiles and derek’s actors CUDDLED on a boat and said things like “we’re on a ship pun intended”… but anyways all of this shows the gorilla grip that sterek had on the entire show, even though it wasn’t canon. and regardless of canonity, in my opinion stiles and derek had the best character flavor-development-dynamic of the entire show. 

[5] i hope you are astounded by the fact that on ao3 sterek ranks among the top three ships (with johnlock and destiel ahead). 

[6] in my sterekposting heart and in all the sterek fics i’ve read. they are so ridiculously in love that it hurts. they live and they heal and hold each other and where one goes the other follows and also derek sneaks into stiles’ bedroom through the window that’s just the free space bingo square for every sterek fic

tw long rant about my body

I hate the way I look. But going by society's general opinion, I am very attractive. I have longer legs and a shorter torso, I have wider hips and a thin waist, I have boobs and a butt, and I'm slim. Classic hourglass figure. Not to mention I got my mother's "beautiful face." I fuckign hate it so much it makes my skin crawl

I take online classes now, but back when I was in public school, I was not popular. I had barely any friends. I never talked to anyone. I was the cold, smart girl in the corner who hated everyone. And all I wore was baggy sweatpants and a hoodie - I got too uncomfortable because all the guys stared at me shamelessly. It was disgusting.

My mother loved it. She liked showing off her pretty little daughter to everyone. But she didn't like it when I started picking out my own clothes, not the frilly pink skirts or sparkly jeans or bows or flowers (we fought so much when I asked her to stop braiding my hair). Because she didn't buy the clothes I felt comfortable wearing, I wore two (2) pairs sweatpants she had gotten previously (they were baby pink and baby blue, so it was okay) and all of my brother's/cousins' old clothes. I looked like I came straight from a rummage sale. And still, the guys would not. leave. me. alone.

I was a teenager, not a toddler. I didn't want my mother to keep dressing me up like the obedient little daughter she wished I still was. I also didn't want to be ogled by the creeps in my school. So I hid my body and tried to look as unattractive as possible. I was a mess. I confidently have a style now, and I've gotten more used to being viewed as a sexual object, but I still hate the way I'm treated because of it. Istg if I get touched by any more men, I will seriously injure them

anyway ahaha if there's one thing I do like about my appearance, it's my eyes. I have long dark lashes, and they're a pretty blue color with a narrow almond-shape. I must have gotten them from some far out ancestor, because neither my parents or grandparents have blue eyes. And they're completely different than my mother's eyes. It's my very own trait :)

I don't even know what I want to look like. My ed started mainly for control, not to "look better" or anything. Obviously my body insecurity developed from there. I guess I want to be physically strong. Look tough, to align with my cold personality. Or is that just to scare away some of the men? I've used that in the past. I do enjoy working out though.

Something that will forever anger me about s6 of Lucifer: (spoilers!)

• WHERE WAS TRIXIE WHEN HER MOM WAS DYING

• Ya’ll cannot tell me she wouldn’t have been there. Why did they neglect her character? She definitely should have been at her mother’s death bed.

• yes this post is solely about Trixie bc I’m mad

• There’s no way through all these years she never found out her sister had wings. Or if she actually didn’t know anything about the celestial stuff, that’s poor parenting! I’m sorry if you think otherwise but Trixie is REALLY strong and badass and ya’ll know she would’ve understood the stuff easily.

• Cloe should’ve included her on the stuff happening eventually. I mean half their friends and family are celestials.

• So I would like to believe that Trixie KNEW and therefore should’ve been at her MOTHER’S FUCKING DEATH BED when Rory arrived back

• Many times during the season they put Trixie aside. I get it that at the time she wasn’t supposed to find out bc it’s a lot for a child but I really wanted her to be on that Beach day too. And I just think it sucks that bc of all this celestial shit happening Trixie was left out of SO MANY things. Like if I was Cloe I could not feel good knowing my daughter is in some camp while I’m having my happies moments on the Beach bc I couldn’t come up with a stupid lie about why this random teenager is with us so I can take Trixie too.

• Like let’s be honest during the run of this show they made up MANY stupid lies and I’m sure they could’ve made up one more so Trixie doesn’t have to be put aside all the time.

• Like Cloe said Rory can take Trixie’s room but then she also said later that she has to take Trixie to camp which means she slept at home? How did they never meet? It would’ve been so much easier to tell Trixie that she was there and just make up a lie / keep some of the truth from her.

• “Lucifer actually has a long lost daughter/cousin/niece or something and she will stay with us for a while” here you go!! Bam! Now they don’t have to get rid of Trixie every 2 seconds!

• And I know Lucifer doesn’t lie but it’s the truth if he says Rory is a family member of his. Especially if they say she’s his daughter they just don’t reveal the Mom.

• Listen I get it that she cannot be the part of every second scene and that’s now what I think should’ve happened obviously. All I’m saying is during this season her character was neglected and put aside 85-90% of the time. (Edit: I know Trixie’s actress was filming another movie and that’s why she wasn’t around much but she still could’ve recieved a better back story. Telling instead of showing y’know.)

• As a child who has felt like they were put aside because of their younger sibling before - I just think it sucks that science camp was the writers’ solution instead of giving Trixie a storyline that doesn’t include her being ignored most of the time.

• Also and finally, they made up this story about how much Rory and Trixie will love each other in the future and then we don’t even see an adult Trixie, not even for a second. Not even at her mother’s death bed that I will never get over.

• Once Trixie sees Rory as a grown up she might realise she saw her before as a child. She’s clever. So did Cloe tell her what’s up and she also had to keep a secret from Rory for her entire life? But it seemed like Close was the only one to know. But of course at the death bed scene they totally made it look like Rory was an only child, so why should I care about Trixie’s future if the writers clearly didn’t?

There are a few other wrong things about s6 but I haven’t seen anybody else talk about this and I feel like it needed to be said. I just think there should have been a better way to treat her character.

Okay, I know my previous posts were all focused on negative aspects of Teen Wolf and its fandom (which were all TRUE!) and I don’t regret them but to remind myself why I begun to like the show in the first place, here are some of my favorite things on Teen Wolf. Once again, this is my personal opinion and not an attack on anybody individually.

1) Will I ever stop stanning Scott McCall? Never. He is one of the best male protagonists I’ve EVER seen in a teen show; I said what I said. In an era of Damon Salvatore, Chuck Bass who ruled the tv while their problematic actions were ignored by the fandoms; we got Scott McCall who has zero per cent toxic masculinity in him. He is a bi-racial teen who not only lives with his single mother, but respects her and emulates many of her traits like compassion and a sense of adventure. He starts out as a typical, somewhat immature teen who is thrust in a world he never knew existed and becomes a leader and a true alpha. I’m so glad I got to be part of such a kind, empathetic, heroic character’s journey. Yes, he’s made mistakes, yes he’s not perfect, but in the end he overcomes all of his ordeals, saves everyone and proves exactly why he is THE true alpha. I could go and on about why I love Scott so much, but I think for now it’s enough. (Also, anti-Scott people DO NOT interact with me or try and fill my inbox with your unsolicited opinions, just like I don’t engage with you people. Like if you hate Scott (I can’t genuinely think why), it’s your choice.)

2) Teen Wolf has the most ICONIC comedic lines. I don’t need to elaborate on why everyone loves the show’s humor. Lines like ‘My mom does all the grocery shopping’, ‘You’re not gay. I could be!’, 'You’re the hot girl’, 'I’m worth five dollars?!’ etc.. will always live rent free in every TW fan’s minds.

3) This show is every multishipper’s dream come true. Everyone has chemistry with everyone. Like if I don’t like a ship, it wouldn’t be because the characters didn’t have chemistry. It helps that the cast irl are such great friends.

4) The friendship of Scott McCall and Stiles Stilinski. Ik, season 5 sort of ruined their dynamic and a part of me still dislikes Stiles for his assholish behavior towards Scott (again, I’m not anti Stiles just because I called him out on his jerkish behavior) but still it is one of the best relationships in TW. Their adventures, their bickering, them always sticking together, I loved it all. And obviously, Motel California remains on my all time favorite episodes because of how strong their bond is.

5) The friendship of Scott and Lydia. Okay, I know they’re sort of underrated but I love their dynamic. Like Lydia literally went from 'I don’t know him’ to 'Not all monsters do monstrous things. Like Scott.’ They were both abused by Peter (he non-consensually bit them both, so yes ABUSED!), they both have great character arcs. Bonus, there is never any storyline where Allison (albeit, after confronting Lydia for kissing Scott during full moon, which was fair enough), Kira or even Malia doubt if the scydia friendship is 'anything more’ because their friendship and dynamic in general is just pure and wholesome and you know they’d do anything for each other.

6) Melissa’s iconic 'Be your own anchor’ speech. It is so inspirational and is for every teenager out there. This is for anyone who’s undergone a breakup, have unrequited feelings for someone, or are afraid that they’re going to end up alone. I love this speech and it should be talked about more, dammnit!

7) The music. Enough said.

8) The acting. Tyler Posey, Dylan O'Brien, Crystal Reed, Tyler Hoechlin, Holland Roden, Shelley Hennig, Arden Cho, Dylan Sprayberry,Daniel Sharman, Ian Bohen, etc.. everyone gave their 100 percent to their characters and it totally shows.

9) The ending. It was great, positive and reinforced that it is Scott’s journey, the importance of friendship, everyone’s ship even though not endgame, got some screen time and just perfect, somehow.

10) The agency given to female characters. Like, I’m still sort of pissed of about Kira’s departure, but you gotta hand it to the show for its multi dimensional portrayal of female characters. Almost all of its episodes pass the Bechdel Test, the female characters don’t have to give up their kindness and sweetness in order to be 'strong’ (a.k.a the idea perpetuated by our toxic patriarchal society that 'strong’ people are cold hearted, unkind and it is used to excuse assholes); they’re already badasses and they are assets, rather than burdens to the pack. Each one is unique in their own way and a breath of fresh air from Elena Gilberts (who are defined by their romantic storylines) or Bonnie Bennets (perpetually ignored and mistreated and only there to progress the white men and women’s storylines while her own are put on the backburner). Bonus, there are zero scenes where they 'fight’ or 'compete’ for men. There aren’t any stupid, unnecessary love triangles.

11) The show is addictive. Even if TW has its plot holes and unexplained story lines. It is written so well that you can’t help but binge watch the hell out of this show.

You waited until you mother was gone doing her supergirl stuff. Because you couldn’t step out of the apartment without her noticing you or hearing you with her superhearing sense. Then you heard your mom going to bed a bit early than usual, but you were not complaining because that meant you were going to partying earlier than planned. Ten minutes after you heard your mom’s bedroom door closed you texted your friends. [I’m downstairs in two minutes!] [About time !] They replied. You grabbed your stuff, checking your make up and your dress, then you exited your room and the apartment walking on your tiptoes to not waking your mom Lena. Because if she found out you were leaving without her permission, you would be dead and buried. Even if you were eighteen and not a child anymore, your parents didn’t allowed you to go out during the week, because : “You have class tomorrow.”. But you found yourself disobeying at their orders by going out during the night. Your mom Kara was busy fighting some creepy guys and your mom Lena was sleeping like a baby or working on her computer assuming you were asleep. So the path was clear. Cheers !! » The guy was already drunk but you thanked him and drank the glass. You winced. Yerk what was in it ? Vodka ? Whiskey ? You didn’t know but it was strong. Stronger than the drinks you were used to. Usually you drank beer mostly. But why not to try something different tonight ? You went to the kitchen to fill up your glass again with some coke and whiskey. The house was full off people and with difficulties you managed to reach your friends. « I wanna dance » said (YBFFN) « Yeah me too » And you two went to the center of the living room where everyone was dancing. The party went on and you were enjoying yourself, dancing and drinking with your friends. It was almost 2 in the morning when some of you started a drinkin' game with a truth or dare. This was quite fun until some guy, (Davies, you think but at your drunken state you didn’t manage to remember his name) asked you some questions about your parents. « So...(Y/N) are you really the Lena Luthor's daughter ? » « Yeah... smartass ! My family name is Luthor Danvers : you’re quite perceptive » you said rolling you eyes. He chuckled. « So truth or dare ? » He asked. You already had drunk too much alcohol, so you played safety this time. « Truth » « Since you ´re the daughter of the famous Lena Luthor, I wonder, have you ever talked to supergirl ? » Ok... (Y/N) don’t mess this up, they must not know that supergirl is your mom too. « Yeah ! She is... my mom’s friend. » « Awesome ! Is she really as cool and badass as she seems ?! » Your BFF who knew that supergirl was Kara, frowned and gently pushed the guy. « Davies, that makes two questions. It’s my turn to choose.» The boy apologised and you smiled at him. Thinkin' about how cool your mother was indeed. You were so proud to be her daughter. Even if you couldn’t tell anyone, to protect her secret identity. You were proud of both of your mother really but it was easiest to talk about your admiration for your mom Lena in public, than for Supergirl, because of this secret identity stuff and all. You were deep in your thoughts when one of your friends snaped his fingers in front of you, bringing you back to reality. « Wh-what ? » you said a bit drunk. « Truth or dare (Y/N) » You had too many drinks to do some truth. Too risky. « Dare ! » « I dare you to drink all of these vodka’s shots right now. » You stared at the glasses full of vodka and winced in disgust... you hated vodka really. Maybe you should choose the truth. « I knew it... she is a coward » chuckled a girl. You glared at her, stood and took one of the glasses on your hand. You hated being called a coward and you loved challenges. Your eyes had this spark of fierce and determination. You were going to show them that you were your moms daughter : unstoppable ! God you were not going to make it home. You would be too drunk after that ! « I’m gonna shoe... sh...show you if i’m a coward ! I bet I can drink all of them in 10 seconds ! » « And I bet you are not going to do that (Y/N)! » You froze hearing that voice you knew too well behind you. You saw your friends eyes open wide. The silence filled the room. Davies broke it : « Oh my god ! It is Supergirl. » Shit... you were in trouble. You turned yourself to face her. Instead of the smile she always had in public, she had the momma angry stare on her face. You gulped. Arms crossed on her chest, Kara was looking at you sternly, as if she dared you to drink these shots. « Oh... » you calmed yourself to not showing your fear. « Supergirl ! What a... sur... suprise !! What are you doing here ? » Hey you didn’t want your friends see you being sermonize. Then Kara smiled but not a nice one. More a sarcastic smile... « Your mom found your bedroom empty... she had traced your phone and asked me to bring your home. » Shit, shit, shit, shit, shit ! If you were in trouble by Kara’s knowing you were here, that was nothing compared to Lena’s knowing you were at a party ! You were soooo dead... « Woah so cool ! You’re going home with Supergirl ! » « Davies » said your BFF « Yeah ? » « Shut up ! » You looked at (YBFFN) who gave you a knowing look and an encouraging smile. Then you felt Your mom’s arm around yout waist. « Well if you would like to excuse us... I have to take this in trouble lady home. But all of you must do the same ! You have class tomorrow ! » And then you were flying across the city. Feeling the fresh her on your face began to clear your thoughts. Your arms around your mother’s neck you felt bad... she was mad at you, you could tell because she wasn’t even looking at you. « Mom... I’m sorry I... » you began but she interrupted you. « We’ll discuss this at home.” she said sternly. Kara felt bad too, because she didn’t want to be so harsh with you. But she had heard the panic in her wife’s voice and she felt it too, the fear that something could've happened to you. After all... she was supergirl and someone could have been threatening her... and hurting you. That’s why she and Lena were mad. But she didn’t want to talk to you without Lena, because she knew she had a soft spot for you. Kara was always too conciliant with you and sometimes, like this time, she knew she must not be. You didn’t respond, because suddenly you felt you were going to vomit. You didn’t know if it was because of the alcohol, the flight or maybe both. Fortunately, you arrived at the balcony of the apartment. The light was on... Lena was, obviously, awake and she was waiting on the sofa. She stood up when she saw you two enter. You didn’t dare to look at her in the eyes, but you felt her gaze on you. “She was at a party...” Said Kara. “Oh you’ve got to be kidding me !" she exclamed. "Do you know how much we were worried about you ?!” She asked anger in her voice. You kept your eyes down, not wanting to look at her. Because you were afraid of what you could see in her eyes. “You weren’t supposed to find out...” You heard the hiss in her tone. She wasn’t pleased by what you just said. “Do you think we are fools (Y/N) ?” “No Mom... never.” “Look at me.” And you obeyed. She was in her blue pyjamas, arms crossed on her chest, panting maybe because of the anger that you could read in her eyes and body reactions. Your mother Kara was beside her, a hand on her shoulder trying to comfort her, maybe to temporize her a little. Because, yeah she was furious. If looks could kill, you would be dead by now. “You leave the house at night without permission and then you go to a party. Do you think we didn’t notice ?” Asked your mother Kara. You didn’t answer because you had anything to say. Then Lena burst out. “For god’s sake (Y/N) ! Do you have any idea how much we were worried that someone has kidnapped you ?! Do you think we do not care about you ? Or maybe you just don’t care about us ?” “Lena...” said Kara, knowing that her wife’s words could hurt you. “Please calm down.” “I can’t !” she just said. “It hadn’t crossed my mind that you might have left by your own. I could say i’m relieved you are ok... but i’m very disapointed !” She sighed. You were quite upset. Because you didn’t want to scare your moms. But you feel a little annoyed too because, they didn’t seem to understand that you needed some freedom. “It wasn’t my intention to scare you mom...” you said, fidgeting. “ I just wanted to go out with my friend. I never can. Because you always forbid me to have fun. It’s like you don’t trust me. I’m eighteen. I’m not a child anymore...” Lena and Kara looked at each others. Then your Mom Lena sighed and seemed to calm down. She gave you a sad look. “I’m sorry you felt that wat babygirl but we don’t want you to put aside school work and going out during the week is not wise. We want you to succeed your studies, to go to college because we want you to have the best future, but for that you have to work hard.” “I’m already working hard mom ! I always have the best marks ! But I want to have fun too ! I need it !” Kara took your hands in hers. “We know sweetheart. And we apologize for having forgotten what being a teenager with some social needs was... Maybe...” she looked at Lena unsure “we could let you go out with your friends more often during weeks, with a time you have to respect too.” “Oh it would be awesome !” You said with a smile ! “But when we say : you go home at 11pm you are here at 11pm no more !” Added Lena with a finger pointed at you. You smiled. “Got it !” “But” Kara began looking at you in the eyes. “You also have to understand that you are not just a common girl. You are ours which means some of our ennemies will always want to hurt you... because you are our daughter. And that’s why we have to know when you’re going out and where too. Mama Lena’s voice was trembling when she called me earlier... you really scared us (Y/N). We love you, and we don’t want you to get hurt or to lose you.” You looked at your mom Lena with tears falling from your eyes. “I’m sorry mom. I didn’t want to scare you.” Then she hugged you tight, kissing the top of your head. “That’s okay now I know you are safe.” Kara hugged the both of you resting her head on yours. And you stayed like this for a moment. Suronding by love and caring. Then you heard your mom Lena said. “You’re still grounded for tonight you know... No more party for two weeks.” “Mooom” you whined. But you know that was vain to argue, because hey, she was Lena Luthor after all. “I can always make it three...” she added, and you sighed knowing that those threats were serious when your mom Lena made it. Plus you were tired. You yawned not realising that she could smell your breath. “That’s alcohol that I smell ?” You closed your mouth abruptly, looking at her, she was rising her bow, as if she was daring you to lie, but a small smirk had fall on her lips. “...no ?” “(Y/N)...” She said warning you... “I’m going to bed...” you ran away, certain that you were in danger right now. “I know what I smelt (Y/N), come back here ! Blow a breath... Come back !” She was chasing you, and you laughed as you tried to escape her. Kara smiled looking at the two of you. She was happy to have you both. You make her life better, brighter.

Family #1: The Dolans

(this is a re-upload as I made some major changes to my mod situation, specifically the CC traits I'm using...nearly all of the traits from here on out will be from Chingyu's trait pack, just for simplicity's sake)

After a long delay of straightening out my many (many, many) mods and just generally fighting with my lack of motivation to do...things...I've finally placed my first family: the Dolans! Pictures above (left to right) are: Vincent, Donovan, Lucinda, and Lillian.

You may recognize Vincent, at least, from my first Whimsyverse project...that'll be an ongoing theme, of course, since I'm remaking all of these characters again. This time, though, instead of making them all adults, I'll be defaulting most of my major characters to teenagers for no real specific reason besides that it feels like I'm starting at the beginning of their stories. Also it's more work for me to make all of their families and I

am nothing if not a masochist...

Family Bio: Donovan Dolan is a dangerous and brilliant criminal for hire, performing everything from high-profile heists to hitman-style assassinations dispassionately for the highest bidder. However, this was not the case when he first met Lillian, an aspiring model, and their whirlwind romance ended with them married and Lillian pregnant with twins. While establishing himself as one of the most dangerous men alive, the twins Vincent and Lillian were growing up with their gentle and loving mother, who all but gave up her own aspirations to raise them. Vincent and Lillian resent their absentee and dangerous father for how he neglects his family, and for his part, it is clear that Donovan expects at least one of them to continue in his footsteps...though which one has yet to be decided.

Vincent Dolan

Meta Bio: Vincent is my version of that character we all make around high school/early college - the hyper-competent badass that’s just there to be awesome and to let us write super cool scenes. He was super cool and good at everything and had a tragic backstory and was super emo and edgy and graargh! However, as I grew, Vincent stuck with me and became a character I reused many, many times over, and as I became more competent of a storyteller (I said more competent!), he grew too. He remained the hyper-competent badass he started as (a bit of self-indulgence on my part, perhaps), but the tragedy of his backstory and the psychology of him wrestling with his trauma became more pronounced in how I wrote him. He was no longer just a bad-ass, he was a more complex character who, despite appearing to be unaffected by everything around him, was really hyper-repressed to a dangerous degree. I started writing him less as that hyper-competent Gary Stu and more as a normal man (or boy) who simply didn’t know how to express himself or process the trauma of his past - in which he watches his father kill his mother and threaten to kill his twin sister - without letting the pain that comes naturally to that trauma overwhelm him. So he simply shuts it all out. At the same time, he has drilled into his head (thanks, again, to his father) that he simply isn’t good enough. This no longer manifests as a sort of infantile, impotent angst, but rather a silent drive to always do better at everything he does - an intense focus that earned him the very fitting title “a model of intense apathy” from my friend. But one of the most fun parts of the character isn’t writing him being exceptional at everything (I actually enjoy emphasizing that he is not good at everything...anything that requires a modicum of creativity or personal expression is utterly beyond him), it’s watching him, with the help of people around him, discover the young man that he could have been. I recently wrote him smiling for the first time and it was very sweet.

Donovan Dolan

Meta Bio: Donovan has never been especially well-defined, and as such, this will be a pretty short bio. He only ever really existed as a vessel to drive Vincent’s trauma. He’s gone from being a petty thug to a master criminal to a dangerous madman. But I tend to enjoy playing him more as a sort of mirror into what Vincent could become - a hyper-competent, dangerous psychopath - a term I use more or less literally here, to emphasize his utter lack of empathy/sympathy. Like many psychopaths, he appears, outwardly, to be extremely well-adjusted, even charming and charismatic, but without the ability to relate to others. He is highly focused on his job, whatever that may be at the time.

Meta Bio: Lucinda is even less defined than Donovan, usually. Once again, she exists simply to die and provide fuel for Vincent’s tragedy. She is usually described as being exceptionally kind and gentle, the opposite of her husband, and having made a strong impression on Vincent and Lillian during their childhoods. For the Sims version, I liked to imagine her as being full of life and energy and happiness. She leans a bit more into creative endeavors, which neither of her children took after. She still lives for her children, though, and the decision to give up her dreams as a model was her own...she wanted to be a parent more than she wanted anything else.

Lillian Dolan

Meta Bio: Unsurprisingly, Lillian, like her parents, has never been extremely well-defined, but I have had her appear occasionally in stories - I just never really cemented what kind of character she was. In the past, she was the polar opposite of Vincent: energetic, cheerful, impetuous. Other times she took more after their mother and was more quietly calm and confident. In this case, I decided to make her sort of a high-strung workaholic who doesn’t really know how to relate to people, mostly because that’s how she was in one of her more recent appearances. So hey, maybe that’s now her canon personality!

14. Merida

I know Merida has really badass archery skills. She’s also outspoken, strong willed, and clever. But she’s still my least favorite princess. I just didn’t like her. Maybe it’s the fact that she wanted to change her mom. And she actually went through with it. Of course, she didn’t actually know what was going to happen, and the journey brought them closer together. She grew as a character and that’s good. But just seeing her disrespect her mother, especially publicly in front of all the clans, is hard to watch. It doesn’t help that I thought Brave was one of Pixar’s weaker movies and essentially Brother Bear all over again.

13. Anna

Not gonna lie. I hate Anna. She’s so damn pushy and combative. I know, it’s all her parents’ fault. All of it. But still. She doesn’t listen to Elsa at all. She pushes and pushes triggering Elsa’s ice outbursts, which become more visible as they build along with her anxiety. Every uncontrolled “accident” Elsa has in the first film is because Anna didn’t listen to her. Of course, she also didn’t listen to Elsa’s warning about marrying Hans either. She foolishly left the kingdom in the hands of an outsider, someone she didn’t even know.

She definitely shows improvement in the second film. She becomes more sensitive towards Elsa’s feelings and her powers. She’s also very loyal and brave, risking her life for Elsa, yet again. She’s still very clingy and desperate for people’s love. It manifests in her fear of losing Elsa and Kristoff. I do not like her humor or awkwardness. I don’t find them relatable, but rather annoying. But I do appreciate that those insecurities are real and that’s what makes her more relatable. Her relationships with the other characters, especially Olaf, is what saves her from being last on my list.

12. Tiana

There’s nothing wrong Tiana. I think she’s great. She’s hardworking, determined, and a realist. Those are great qualities that I’m glad Disney decided to focus on too. The downside of this is that she comes across as rather boring. The film relies on other more colorful characters to bring the personality and charm. I think that’s a shame. She also suffers from starring in a weaker film.

11. Aurora

I like Aurora. What little we see of her anyway. We can tell by the way she interacts with the fairies, woodland creatures, and Prince Philip that she’s smart, sweet, shy, kind, cautious. She’s a dreamer, but not foolish. It’s too bad we didn’t get to see more of her.

10. Snow White

Snow White, in my opinion, does not get the respect she deserves. Was she stupid to take that apple from the very obviously evil hag? Yes, she was. But people have forgotten all about the really great qualities she possessed too. When she walked into the dwarfs’ cottage, it was a disgusting, unlivable nightmare. The dwarfs were pigs. They didn’t clean their home or themselves. They bickered all the time. Snow White changed all of that. She created order where there was disorder. And she didn’t do it alone. She delegated chores to each of the animals and made sure they did them right. That’s some managerial skills! She got a bunch of unruly little men to wash, sleep at a decent time, and behave. That’s authority. Those are some real life skills I wish I had more of. Yes, she cooked, cleaned, and sewed, but Snow White wasn’t a servant. She was in charge.

9. Cinderella

Like Snow White, Cinderella has gotten a bad rap over time, but I will defend Cinderella anytime anywhere. Those who say she “needed a prince to save her” lack compassion and are completely missing the point. Cinderella was a young woman who was abused by what family she had left. At a young age she experienced loss, grief, then neglect and emotional abuse. But Cinderella was resilient. That abuse didn’t stop her and it didn’t change her. She could’ve become mean, bitter, and jealous. She could’ve continued the cycle of abuse like her stepsisters. But Cinderella didn’t allow their mistreatment to define her. She remained kind, empathetic, patient, humble, and hardworking. She also didn’t allow herself to become a victim. She didn’t mope or give up on herself. When the ball was announced, she worked hard and believed she would go. When she got help from the fairy godmother, she accepted it and rocked that ball gown. She didn’t go to the ball to be rescued. She went because she wanted to, and she did. Moral of the story is do not let others’ treatment of you determine who you are or what you’re worth. Cinderella had awesome inner strength.

8. Ariel

I will admit that as an adult, Ariel’s appeal fades. She made really bad choices and sacrificing her voice for a boy is a terrible message to sell to kids. But for a 5 year old girl, only two things mattered. She was a mermaid and she could sing. The Little Mermaid kick started Disney’s renaissance and set a new precedent for its movies. Unlike previous princesses, Ariel was the first princess full of life, passion, and adventure. She had an exciting and lovable personality and a Broadway singing voice. Credit goes to Jodi Benson for bringing Ariel to life and the writers for getting the world to fall in love with her. She made a huge impression (hello, mermaid craziness everywhere!), even if she was a total idiot teenager.

7. Jasmine

What’s great about Jasmine is she can see through people’s BS and she doesn’t put up with it. She isn’t impressed by the superficial suitors that come her way. She stands up to Jafar. She catches on pretty immediately that Prince Ali is actually Aladdin. She sings like Lea Salonga, Disney and Broadway legend, and she has a pet tiger. What’s not to love?

6. Pocahontas

Pocahontas was the first Disney princess to not go after her dreams, but instead chose family, community, duty, loyalty. That’s incredibly mature and selfless. She taught a racist, arrogant, ignorant man to love and respect others different from him. She followed her intuition, was one nature, and dove off cliffs. The only minus is falling for John Smith over Kokoam. I don’t know what she was thinking!

5. Moana

Moana is not qualified for her mission. She has no experience and no skills required for sailing across the sea, finding Maui, and defeating a lava monster. But it’s her purpose. She was chosen. So she sets out and figures it out along the way. That’s an inspiring example. It’s not until the end that we find out why she was chosen. She sees Te Ka for who she truly is. Te Fiti. The image above is one of the most powerful moments in all of Disney’s films.

4. Rapunzel

Similar to Cinderella, Rapunzel has been abused throughout her childhood. IMO, Rapunzel had it worse because she believed Mother Gothel was her mother. Their relationship was nonstop manipulation, infantilization, and gaslighting. But Rapunzel was brave enough to go after what she wanted and smart enough to find a way to do it. On top of that, she was creative and artistic, incredibly strong from years of hauling Mother Gothel up the tower, and had magical hair with healing powers. In the end, she does what we didn’t get to see in Cinderella. She stands up for herself and confronts her abuser. She’s a real survivor and victor.

3. Belle

I love Belle because she is a true introvert and a true individual. She’s not very social, doesn’t gossip, doesn’t fawn over Gaston, doesn’t follow the townsfolk’s way of life. She literally just does her own thing. For that, she’s misunderstood and judged by the village. I think that’s very relatable. But she’s also intelligent, curious, adventurous, honorable (she keeps her promise to stay with the Beast), and stands up to the Beast when he’s out of line. She’s the only one that truly challenges the Beast and he grows because of it. And she saves him.

2. Mulan

Similar to Belle, Mulan is a bit of an outcast, because she’s individualistic in a society that values conformity. She’s socially awkward, clumsy, but brave. That bravery saves her father and all of China. She’s a true badass warrior.

1. Elsa

Elsa is technically not a princess, but a queen. She still counts and she tops my list. Out of all the Disney princesses, she is the most real and fully developed. She’s beautiful, kind, brave, strong, but also very flawed. Many people have identified with Elsa in different ways because her flaws are so real and so relatable. The LGBTQ community has adopted her as a symbol of their own. For me personally, I see a mental health issue. I think she’s a highly sensitive person with anxiety. Her ice powers are a beautiful symbol for that anxiety and the struggle over her mental health. Her journey to accept herself for who she is, to embrace herself for who she is, and to find her place in a world that deems her different is truly beautiful and empowering.

Stiles and the younger members of the pack are in the middle of their junior year. Things are quiet; there's finally a chance to be happy. There's a chance for them to be teenagers and maybe even pursue love. OC Inspirations: Devinahl & Indy

I was (delightfully) tagged by @vespertine-legacy​ a while ago and I’ve hesitated to do this because I knew I was going to talk WAY too much - but it was weighing on me, so I decided to open up about the sources from which I stole, that is, drew inspiration for Devinahl and Indirae.

What three fictional characters is your OC a combination of?  

This doesn’t apply to every OC - not even mine - but its certainly true for a few : Many of our characters are, to an extent, inspired by characters we see in movies, books, games, TV shows, etc.

Does this apply to any of your OCs? Was it a conscious decision on your part or not? Is your OC a combination of three (or more) fictional characters?

DEVINAHL

The truth is that when I came to creating my Imperial Agent Devinahl, and in particular fleshing out her backstory in far, far too much detail, there were some sources that I went to extremely explicitly and deliberately. And chief among them was ...

1. Garak, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

That’s right. Garak from Deep Space Nine. Plain, simple Garak. Outcast. Exile. Spy. Addict. Perennial liar. Patriot. Terrorist. Would-be genocider. Very good tailor.

(If you haven’t seen DS9, then you need to. It’s like Star Trek, but if it was actually good? And Garak is a big part of what elevates it.) 

Is it weird to compare my ancient video game Barbie/gorgeous sex bomb badass assassin and seductress to a cold-blooded space lizard who spends his days hemming pants? Possibly. But there are aspects of Garak’s character that, consciously and unconsciously, I made parts of Devinahl’s DNA. 

Firstly, Garak is a patriot. He loves Cardassia so much that despite seeing its flaws with absolute clarity, despite having been exiled and reviled by it, he would die without question to serve it (of course, he’d much rather make someone else die). And while seeing that as a weakness, despite knowing that the Cardassia he has committed to serving is disappearing before his eyes, there is still a part of him that believes that that commitment - that neverending sacrifice - is noble. The only noble part of him. That’s central to Devinahl’s character (which is, in turn, the way I made sense of the IA storyline). That while hating and despising the Sith, she would nevertheless believe in the Empire - not so much believe that it is good (at best, I think she sees it as order and stability where the Republic is corruption and chaos) as believe that her commitment to it is the only redeeming thing available to her.

Secondly, the way that Garak will take his needs, vulnerabilities, sincere emotions and package them in ways which gets him what he has to have to keep going, without ever giving up full control? Particularly in the extraordinary episode The Wire, in which a dying Garak tells Dr Bashir a series of lies about himself in order to elicit Bashir’s forgiveness, because he needs to be sincerely forgiven but without ever telling the truth?

Out of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren’t? My dear doctor, they’re all true. Even the lies?

That is everything I tried to do with Dev, particularly in my fic about her and SCORPIO, particularly when it comes to her and Arcann. To know what she needs, as Garak needs absolution from Bashir, and tell just enough truth - put herself into just vulnerable enough a position - to get it, but never without reserving something, holding something back, whether it’s the knowledge that she can maneouvre herself out of SCORPIO’s clutches at any time or her real name? That’s a fucking survivor.

Thirdly, the relationship between Devinahl and Sifter (the spymaster who finds her as a traumatised child and grooms her for Intelligence) and specifically, the deathbed scene I wrote in Riddle was directly inspired by Garak’s relationship with Enabran Tain and that death scene. 

Yes, Devinahl was not Sifter’s actual daughter, but in every real sense she was formed by Sifter - and had Sifter had just one day with Dev like Tain had with Garak, Dev would have been lost. She would have turned herself into a carbon copy of Sifter, and she would have died. But the bittersweetness? The acknowledgement that the parental figure you love will never, not even now that they’re dying, love you as you want them to?

‘I should have killed your mother before you were born. You have always been a weakness I can't afford.’ ‘So you've told me. Many times. ...’ ‘Elim, remember that day…in the country. You must've been almost five.’ ‘How can I forget it? It was the only day.’

(The love and infinite sadness with which Andrew Robinson says that line, ‘It was the only day’? I’m crying just thinking about it. Anyway, it was everything I was thinking about and wanted to achieve in that scene.)

Oh ... and Devinahl’s ambiguous relationship with her implants? Well, Garak also has an implant in his head. And that’s all I’m saying about that.

2. Oryx from Oryx & Crake by Margaret Atwood

A novel character rather than from TV or movies, I hope that’s OK. And I know that there are ... very problematic elements to the way Atwood writes about Oryx, her family, her culture, her background. But she was one of the strongest elements that went into creating Devinahl and her backstory.

There were specific aspects of the story Oryx tells to Jimmie - particularly the parts about being told to scream and make a fuss if a man tries to take you away to a hotel room, and then being told not to make a fuss when a man tries to take you away to a hotel room - that became part of Dev’s story. But there was also a general attitude and way of looking at life I wanted to capture and incorporate. Oryx’s philosophy of value?

Of course (said Oryx), having a money value was no substitute for love. Every child should have love, every person should have it. . . . but love was undependable, it came and then it went, so it was good to have a money value, because then at least those who wanted to make a profit from you would make sure you were fed enough and not damaged too much. Also there were many who had neither love nor a money value, and having one of these things was better than having nothing.

I wanted to create a character who could look at life and suffering and abuse, even her own, and view it in that dispassionate way which horrifies someone from my middle-class Western background - and then I wanted to test that idea, to bring it up against SCORPIO and have SCORPIO try to break it down with torture, to see if it was just a cool facade/necessary illusion. I wimped out of really testing that belief, instead having Dev always know that she could get out of her situation/having her find a way to be loved without truly having to sacrifice her protective patterns ... but if I was a little braver and better, I’d have tested it to breaking point. How far can a character go who thinks like that while still remaining, on some level, compassionate/human/likeable?

3. Saffron (Firefly)

I could have gone Black Widow (definitely the inspiration for Dev’s aesthetic in terms of outfit etc). But the plain truth is that I thought more about Saffron while dreaming up Devinahl/writing her backstory than I did about Black Widow (yes, Widow turned her weakness into strength in a manipulative fashion all the time, but Garak did it better, and other than that she mainly looked after boys in a way that I did not want Dev to be limited to). 

Firefly, for a show that had - what - 13 episodes? - exercises far too much of a hold on my imagination and Saffron, especially in the first episode in which she appeared, was such a tremendous character. The way that she found exactly the triggers to turn each member of the crew inside out? (And if she’d had more time, it absolutely would have worked on Wash and Inara, too - it only didn’t because she had to hurry.) Dev has that. I can’t write it, because I suck, but she has it. 

Oh, and nobody will ever know Devinahl’s real name (apart from you, if you read my fic about her backstory) and she’d die before letting you know it. That’s straight from Saffron. As is, I suppose, the man who would accept her just as she is without needing to push to know her secrets, except it worked out a little better for Dev and Arcann than it did for Yolanda and Durran Haymer because Dev and Arcann will always have pegging.

INDIRAE

(This will be a lot shorter than the section on Devinahl, I promise.)

1. Steve Rogers, Captain America (and whatever else)

I have never been super into the MCU, but the key reference I used to find a way into Indy’s character, back when she was nothing more than a cool-looking Cathar Bounty Hunter, was Steve Rogers. (November can attest to this)

Indy’s physical size - she’s six foot if she’s an inch, and big - is key to her personality, but equally key is the idea that she would always experience that size as uncomfortable and slightly alien to her. Like Steve Rogers, she started out as the scrawny kid always getting beat up by everybody ... And when she got her strength (with a hefty assist from the toxic waste run-off into what was her family’s only source of water) and suddenly got TALL and STRONG? She did not like bullies - which was what led her to help Coda out of a jam at the spacesport and started them on their road.

(If there’s a better way to play the BH storyline than as a stone-cold mercenary with an utterly unwilling heart of gold ... then I don’t know about it.)

2. Xena, Xena Warrior Princess

I’ll be completely fucking straight with anybody about this (so to speak): I love Xena, I had an obsession with it as a teenager I’m still unpacking, and the show tends to feed into my characters in an ... odd way.

Indy is physically imposing like Xena, is the main thing; and her dynamic with Coda owes a lot to Xena’s with Gabrielle (although Coda is as big and tough as Indy, she is the fast talker/smooth operator to Indy’s laconic strongman). I wanted Indy to dominate action scenes the way that Xena does, be that kind of a force of nature; and watch her struggle to find ways to channel that charisma, to need Coda’s help to understand how to do it.

3. Dottie Henson, A League of Their Own

OK, first of all, I do not want to hear any kind of mockery. This is, unironically, one of my favourite films of all time.

Again, we come back to the core theme of a character struggling with her own greatness/potential. That’s what is the most fascinating through-line of A League of Their Own: Dottie, this unbelievable baseball player/physical presence (yes, she’s very tall, just like Indy) who is so terrified to admit that she wants anything more than her smalltown life and dreadful husband, even while the evidence of her talent and passion for the game is burning up these ... fields? Diamonds? I don’t know baseball apart from this film.

Indy certainly hides behind not wanting to be a bounty hunter. She doesn’t believe in any Mandalorian nonsense about romanticising what is an unglamorous job. She’s just doing it for credits and afterwards, once she’s secured her family’s future, she’s totally going to go home and settle down in some acceptable, domestic way. Being on the Mantis with Coda, it’s absolutely just a means to an end. She doesn’t want to be there, she doesn’t care about it, it’s not who she is, she doesn’t need it. This life, the adventure, the freedom, the fighting for survival, it’s certainly not what gets inside her and what lights her up, no, not at all. 

Oh, and Dottie is also a reluctant leader. She doesn’t see why her talent should put her in the position of telling other people what to do - but then, on the other hand, she sees so clearly what they need to be doing, and when she says to do it, they listen. She doesn’t want to carry this team, but they’re only a team so long as she carries them.

(Don’t worry, Coda’s not going to let her lie to herself for too long.)

Let me preface this by saying: This is not a personal attack on you if you love Nesta.

After spending a decent amount of time in this fandom I’ve noticed that Nesta Stan’s can be awful to people who don’t like her, I’m not saying that everyone who likes Nesta hates on anyone who doesn’t I’ve just seen a lot of hate been dished out over and opinion of a fictional character.

I admit, I don’t like Nesta.

That’s my opinion, please respect it and I’ll respect yours. I don’t need to hear/read all the things you love about Nesta. I can guarantee you, I’ve heard them all before and have still come to this conclusion myself. At this current moment my opinion can not be swayed.

I’ve created a list of many of the main reasons I dislike Nesta Archeron. No I didn’t do it to bash her character, no i didn’t do it to try and sway people over to the other side, no I didn’t do this as a personal attack, etc.

I simply wrote this list so that the Nesta stans can at least understand where the people who don’t like Nesta are coming from, instead of calling them ignorant, close-minded, etc. (all insults I have seen delivered to anti Nesta fans)

Read this or don’t, I don’t care. I just wanted there to be something for people to read so we may all better understand instead of jumping to hate others. I’ve seen multiple people being hated for expressing an opinion and honestly I’m sick of it.

1. It is heavily implied ( at least in my interpretation) that Nesta has been treating Feyre horribly since they were children, as in before their mother died and they lost all their wealth. It is inexcusable to be that mean and awful to someone, especially your sibling, for no reason ( At least, no apparent reason)

2. She disregards everything Feyre does as unimportant or not good enough. Nesta knowingly spends any extra funds on luxuries for herself instead of necessities for Feyre. Feyre busted her ass when she was a teenager just to keep her family safe and cared for, Nesta completely disregards this.

3. Despite treating her father horribly, she is still his favourite child. This really has nothing to do with her but it just rubs me the wrong way.

4. I would agree that Nesta being rude and standoffish to the other characters in the novel could be viewed as a coping mechanism and a side-effect from her upbringing, however it seems to me that Nesta goes out of her way to treat people who have been nothing but kind to her horribly. Rhys opens up his home to her, Cassian tries to help her, Feyre trying to befriend her sister, etc. she treats all of the previous characters maliciously when there really is no need too.

5. The whole scene when Feyre sees her sisters for the first time after turning High Fae. Nesta is openly degrading and bashing Feyre for something she had no control over and would have died without. Elain, while being skittish and afraid, still makes an effort to sit next to the very people she was taught to fear, because she’s her sister. Nesta does not give this same courtesy.

6. In addition to the previous point, many people probably say things like “At least Nesta opened up her home to them!” But she really didn’t. Feyre got them that house through Tamlin. Nesta did nothing to claim that as her home besides live in it.

7. I’m going to get a lot of hate for this one but, Nesta does not deserve Cassian. Now this one is less factual and more opinionated. I’ll respect your opinion on this but please respect mine. As I see it, unless their is a huge character shift in Nesta (and I mean huge) I can’t see their relationship being anything but Cassian helping her, Cassian giving things to her, Cassian supporting her, Etc. I can’t honestly see a relationship between them where Cassian isn’t giving nearly all the effort and getting next to nothing in return. Cassian has problems of his own, things he needs help and support with and I can’t honestly see Nesta giving that to him.

8. One thing I see a lot in Nestas defence is the fact Nesta thought about going across the wall after Feyre was taken. But Nesta only thought about it and ultimately decided that saving her sister was not worth endangering herself. And I’m not saying that Nesta should be a selfless character, but I personally don’t believe Nesta thinking about helping Feyre serves as a reedeamable quality.

9. I also don’t want to say Nesta should be a perfect character, devoid of any flaws. None of the characters in this series are flawless, it’s one of the things I love about them. With that being said, Nesta has next to no reedeamable qualities, other than her love and protectiveness over Elain.

10. Nesta is not “misunderstood” she is not “misguided” she is abusive. While there may be reasons contributing to her abusive behaviour, this does not lessen the severity and excuse it. An abusive person is abusive, regardless of what caused them to behave that way.

11. A very common defence of Nesta is that “If she was a man every one in this fandom would love her!” Which is complete bullshit. Yes her behaviour towards drinking and one night stands would likely be more accepted but her abusive nature wouldn’t be. Both Tamlin and Nesta emotionally abused Feyre. Both Tamlin and Nesta verbally abused Feyre. Both are ABUSIVE. And yet Tamlin gets major hate (as he should) for these behaviours and this is not translated over to Nesta. Say what you want about this but you cannot convince me that Nesta is treated differently by the fandom for any reason other than she is the woman and for some reason many people don’t believe women can be abusive in the way men can.

12. So many people hate Rhys for not being overwhelmingly nice and open for Nesta. Nesta abused the love of his life for the years. Why should he show her any love when she’s been nothing but horrible to most, if not all, of his family. AntiRhys is quite often bullshit based on people trying to make excuses and coddle Nesta.

13. Nesta is a grown adult and should act like it. She throwns hissy fits and tantrums like a teenager and can’t seem to do anything by herself. If Feyre was not there to help her Nesta would have been dead a long time ago because of her unwillingness to do anything for anyone.

14. I won’t deny that Nesta has issues, she is obviously struggling with depression and PTSD and there is nothing wrong with that. That being said these are not excuses for abusive behaviour.

15. “The IC slut shamed Nesta!” They really didn’t, Feyre at the very base of it all is concerned and worried about her sister, despite how horrible Nesta was to her. And are we not going to mention Nesta slut shaming Feyre for sleeping with Isaac?

16. Nesta isn’t some Strong willed Badass, most of Nestas power over the other characters comes from tearing them down. Nesta isn’t strong, strength is not hurting someone to prove you’re better.

TL;DR- Nesta is abusive.

I am aware many of these points are essentially the same thing. They all root back to the same thing after all, Nesta is abusive.

I don’t need people to agree with me, frankly I don’t care, I’m just so sick and tired of people forgiving Nesta for unforgivable behaviours.

I know Nesta is going to get a redemption arc and it sickens me, why not give one to Tamlin too! And Eris! And Keir! And Ianthe! And every other abusive prick in the series!

I’d also like to clarify I am NOT Antisjm or antiACOTAR, I personally love Sarah J Maas and the ACOTAR series and I think that it’s more realistic to have abusive characters.

Project Updates - What to Look Forward To

I've realized (humbly) that I have a small following of very nice people that seem quite interested in what I've written so far, and after seeing some mutuals post update-status posts, I thought I should share what's going on with my projects, also. Sons of Fortune

Probably somehow my main focus now, though I am steadily working on other works. Currently working on the “In Between” special short before I start on Chapter 12.

I would also like to talk a little bit about my plans for this story: if anyone has paid attention to this story's tags, yes, I am touching up on the plots of most of the games. In fact, all of them, and the anime. (I already dealt with DMC4. No, I will not tear apart Fortuna lol.) Not all relevant tags are in, yet, because small spoilers. It looks like it's going to be a long while before I even get to the Temen-ni-gru, though. (There is a reason why that event is getting pushed back.) I want to have fun with the family fluff that is the twins each learning how to parent, first. 

Hell Froze Over, and We Shall Reignite It

The drama of it all! Dante and Vergil are finally back from Hell, and Nero doesn’t even know his mother is now standing right in front of him. Meanwhile, even I’m anticipating seen how Snow and Dante is going to handle the obvious things currently unsaid... and I have a feeling a small measure of stupidity is still going to be involved.

Current chapter progress: Outline complete.

It's going to feel so interesting, shifting from "Fortune" back to Reignite. I get to write Sera and Vergil falling in love all over again, with a different set of circumstances. Whoa.

And, and... Nero meeting Sera... odd that I'm saying this as the writer, but I have a "I hope he likes his mom" feeling going on. 

Also, no doubt Dante's brain is going to 404 when he sees Snow.

Working on chapter 2. 

I know I said 3 chapters only. I might have lied depending on how much I want to write. It's supposed to be just... awkward fluff of a listless part-devil who somewhat-recently lost his mate, got in a bit of a tiff with his brother, and now his children are trying to set him up with the prospective-king-of-hell, Vergil. 

I think about this one a lot but I haven't written anything new for it yet, only because "Fortune" is taking over my life right now, haha.

Okay, so...This story has no real plot. As a result, my drive for it is purely down to "if I think of a badass or cool photograph to describe." There is a TINY bit of plot. Only a little. And I don't know when I'll update. But this is why I'm trying not to START new projects. Four  is a lot already! But because this one is supposed to be simpler than the other two, I will most likely finish this one before the others, so I can open a new project.

A plot-less post-DMC5 story. 

I say plot-less. There is a plot. The plot is:

Dante: Damn it, Verge, are you trying to turn my office into a zoo??

In which Vergil compulsively starts contracting strong demons he's defeated, left and right, because he's discovered "the joy of pets." The demons all take on a dark animistic form and things get wild. 

A Persona and DMC fusion/AU

I have no title for this yet, and I absolutely cannot start this one until I have finished one of my other big projects. This one will take a lot of big planning, because I am making a new plot, using the mechanics of Persona, with DMC characters and setup.

What I want to write, is a teenage Nero as the protagonist, trying to solve a mystery... probably starting with the sudden disappearance of his mother. (Most likely Sera.) And he meets a lot of "new" people, and even finds new family... and yes, he will find his dad. (I'm thinking he'll know about Vergil, though. At least in name and a photo? Isn't that an interesting difference?)

For those of you not familiar with Persona, the major theme I really want to play with is that of the protagonist growing as a person (and in power) by befriending different people that helps them grow as a person. Each party member and important NPC is represented by a Tarot Card, signifying the type of journey the protagonist (The Fool) "embarks" with that character. There is growth in both the protagonist and that characters. 

Again, this is ambitious to try and pull off... but it's in the back of my head. I'll focus on it once I've cleared some other stuff. 

Sugar Sweet

A somewhat short-chapter series reader fic... of a surgeon/doctor!reader (barely 30 and good at what you do) who often saves the lives of shady people (e.g. mafia) because you care about saving lives, not the politics. But you do make good money out of it. (Hey, you gotta be at least a bit morally ambiguous if you're going to deal with devils.)

You meet one mess of a young mercenary named Dante, who is totally not human and deals with things like having bullets healed into his back, and he can't reach them to cut them out. 

Dante doesn't care about bills for his office, or a lot of the debts in his life. You don't know where his money is going, or if he even makes much money at all (for the kind of specialty work he does? Money's going somewhere, but that's none of your business.)

You won't pay Dante's bills, or his debts, but he will accept pizza and ice cream. And new parts for his jukebox. And maybe a motorcycle. Or a new coat. Or a new car...

And you might complain to him about your dumb patients. Or just listen to him talk about his job. Or you two watch a movie together.

And this just continues. For years. 

Tokusatsu DMC fusion/AU

So. First thing's first: I'm a big fan of Sentai/Tokusatsu. What is that, you might ask? It's a Japanese genre, and if you're familiar with Power Rangers, that's derived from Sentai. 

Basically: Masked heroes with transformation gadgets, sometimes with motorcycles, fighting against evil. ("Magical girls" but strictly the opposite, a lot more physical combat involved, may involve upgrade gadgets, and not strictly limited to male heroes though mostly a male cast. Also not strictly for male-only audience. Girls like the eye-candy, too. :eyes-emoji:)

Why am I thinking about this?

Because I have found out that: Vergil's VA, Dan Southworth, was the Quantum Ranger (WHICH WAS RED). Nero's VA, Johnny Yong Bosch, was a Black Ranger and a Green Ranger. 

...And Dante's VA, Reuben Langdon, had a role in a Japanese Toku show as "B-Fighter Yanma" forever ago???? (HE WAS BLUE!!)

What am I going to do with this info? I'll let you know later. But my Sentai/Toku-loving little heart is about to burst with hyperfixation overlap. 

If I ever write this out, expect it to be just as cheesy as an actual Kamen Rider show. Or, at the very least, expect some art. I love Kamen Rider stuff!

Family Fantasy MMO

Snow introduces Dante, Vergil, Nero, and Kyrie to Final Fantasy 14 (because that’s the MMO I play) for family bonding. Yep. Mainly for silly indulgence.

Stardew Valley Visit

Post DMC5, Vergil and Dante accidentally end up going on a vacation when they try to leave Hell. No pairing with the farmer, but instead just a relaxing and somewhat introspective moment of the boys being stuck with most of their power temporarily sealed, learning how to take care of a farm, and maybe do a bit of healing by interacting with the townsfolk while they try to find out where their swords went and how to get home. 

Re-Colourize

Otherwise what I would call the “re-colour of Nero and Snow” AU. 

What if Vergil was found by Kassy’s family and raised among them? What if Dante ended up briefly in Fortuna and then convinced Sera to run away from the island?

What if we have a Nero who, though brash, is outwardly more soft and open-hearted, and has red-orange and gold colours instead? What if we have a Snow who is named Chiyuki, who wields her katana more like Vergil does, and has a more ice-queen aura about her, and has a teal and blue colouring about her?

This is my excuse to switch up the pairings, but also write Vergil being taught to fight more like an assassin.

Imagine: Yamato, cracked, broken, and separated from her Master... desperately searching for a way to get back to him, and ended up washed up on the shores of Fortuna. Humanoid, but clearly not if anyone saw the cracked, broken, and no-normal look of “shattered” in her torso, that she would have to keep covered. 

Made from the power of Sparda, she is pale with white hair... and she finds herself drawn to the orphanage...

Nico “accidentally” finds entertainment in recording the Sparda Family arguments as they talk about hunting; after all, they all share one braincell. 

Ascended Monochrome

A white angel remains by the side of Nelo Angelo. Mundus was not pleased by the behavior of his second creation, from the human woman that he had picked up with the treacherous Son of Sparda. But he later discovered that by using her, he could keep Nelo Angelo complacent. Eventually, underestimating love will be his downfall.

Fall to Royalty

A story of where Vergil wins against Mundus the first time, and takes the throne of Hell. But what is he to do next? Eventually, ruling Hell seemed meaningless when there was no one by his side, so he goes to seek out the Lady Knight that he had vowed to never think of or go back to unless he had obtained the power he sought.

Doppelganger Woes

So, I heard Capcom retconned Gilver to be some sort of imitation created by Mundus. I’m all for this! And I’m going to DO something with this.

Just comparing two cartoons I love

I understand that nobody asked in any capacity, but here I go anyway:

It feels fair to compare Ducktales 2017 to Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2018), not only because they're only about a year apart and truly, what is a year, but also because they

1. Both use this style that looks like it jumped straight out of a comic book. Okay, it's mostly the solidly inked shadows, but it gives me, personally, comic-y vibes.

2. They have taken what's arguably the main characters (the triplets for DT, the Turtles for TMNT) and shaken the formula up a good bit. Were the triplets formerly indistinguishable and all had the exact same personality, interests and voice actor, they are now three entirely separate entities with different traits and appearances. And while the turtles had about one defining personality trait and looked basically the same, save for the color of their masks, Rise made them different species of turtle to justify giving them radically different designs and three-dimensional personalities. Both shows faced criticism for this decision from people who cannot deal with change. Despite this, in both cases, it just works and does so incredibly well.

3. The oldest bros wear red.

4. We have two middle bros associated with the color blue who are both voiced by Ben Schwartz.

5. Both shows have a focus on family, with Ducktales especially focusing on found family and Rise on brotherhood.

6. Anime references!

Ducktales has a larger cast overall, with a lot of different characters all interacting with each other and they all have the most pleasant voices I've ever heard in my entire life. It's all solidly animated, the style is consistent and the animation is fluid, the characters are diverse and they're all lovely in their own right, except for those who aren't. The writing is top notch. Everyone feels consistent despite the large cast and it's delightful to watch all those interesting people interact with each other in their own way. The show also handles its mystery elements and occasional action scenes incredibly well, building suspense and delivering laughs and gut punches without hesitation. They juggle different tones like a professional clown, except the true clown was us, the audience, all along, for ever having doubted them.

The overarching plot of Ducktales, for its first two seasons, was mostly to uncover the mystery of what had happened to the mother of the triplets and all that would entail. Mystery and mythical elements will likely continue to be afoot for season 3.

Rise works with less focal characters, we have the Turtles, Splinter and April as well as various bad guys, but more than makes up for it with a lot of animation. A lot a lot of animation and it's all high quality. There's usually so much going on on-screen that a watching it once isn't enough to catch it all. Despite that, it doesn't feel crowded or rushed. Lots of dynamic shots and incredibly-choreographed action scenes, but nothing the thoroughly solid writing has to hide behind. Even when the baddies aren't the main concern, they're still well-rounded, interesting characters with unique abilities and motivations. Although, most of the mutants are just really feral. Still a delightfully diverse cast.

The turtles on the other hand spent their first season trying to foil their various foes, from a yokai trying to mutate all of humanity, to his mutants, to dealing with random mythical stuff, to the nefarious Foot Clan trying to reassemble the Dark Armor in the shadows. It's generally a more action-driven show, but they still find the time for some heartfelt moments.

The triplets 2.0

Despite their conventiently color-coded caps, they were really mostly the same character possessing three different bodies at a time. Well, the times of eerie The Shining like-twins, except extended to triplets, are over!

We have Huey, the oldest brother, voiced by Danny Pudi. He's a gentle, intellectual soul who values red hats, science, scout badges and checklists. Huey is arguably the closest in characterization to the original triplets, with some additional neat freak sprinkled in for flavor. He tries to be the responsible older sibling and keep his brothers under control and out of trouble. He also seems to have the most fiery temper of the bunch and should clearly not be pressed to the breaking point. He's my personal favorite and I heard season 3 will bring more focus to him, which makes me elated to hear. 888/10.

Middle child Dewey, the blue one, voiced by Ben Schwartz, who will inevitably come for all the iconic blue characters. He's very clearly the middle one, because he craves attention and validation and occasionally dreams of being an only child. Dewey is the one who started the investigation into their mom's disappearance and kept it from his brothers, partially to save them from hurt, but also because he wanted to feel special. He's the most interested in going on adventures with their uncle, but can get reckless when doing so. He's a bit of a spotlight hog, who has his own talk show that nobody watches and sings his own theme song when he needs to get hyped up, or just to fill this silence. This may sound kind of negative, but rest assured, he's a good, sweet boy. The focal triplet for the first season. 500/10.

Louie, the evil triplet, a schemer and a conman. Voiced by Bobby Moynihan.  The youngest of the bunch. While they call him evil, he's really far too lazy to cause serious harm, except for when it's his laziness that's causing him to take dangerous shortcuts, oops. He dreams of making a fortune, but without having to work for it and preferably without any responsibility either, thank you. He also occasionally dreams of being a spoiled fat cat. Despite his chill demeanor, he can be a bit of a crybaby and those tears are only fake 50% of the time. I feel like he likes getting babied, but mainly because that means there's less work for him to do. Season 2, which focuses more on him, reveals that he's actually quite brilliant, capable of seeing all the angles and giving him some chessmaster-like qualities. He needs to learn to use those abilities for good. 665/10.

Hi, she's Webbie! The honorary triplet, who also got a massive makeover, from annoying token girl tagalong to socially awkward, adorkable action girl. Be careful who you call ugly in middle school, indeed. Like a more ferocious  Mabel Pines, she has a grappling hook and years of martial arts training under her belt. Webbie can absolutely decimate you, but won't, because she's a sweet girl. Voiced by Kate Micucci. She continues to like unicorns and the color pink, but assuredly in the most badass of ways. She helped Dewey with his quest to uncover the mystery of his missing mom, but works well with all of the triplets, with Huey taking her under his wing a bit and Louie trying to get her to chill out more. Webbie is a sweetheart and I would die for her, were it not completely unnecessary, since she's more than capable of taking care of herself. ∞/10.

A lot of the supporting cast also saw updates and changes, for instance Gyro being a genius without social skills and Fenton being an adorkable scientist, but again, they work really well. They're interesting new takes on beloved characters. Even the new additions to the cast are great. In short, I love me some birds and am excited for season 3, Disney, get your scheduling together.

The Turtles 2.14.2 - I upgraded my upgrade in the middle of the upgrade

Also, these guys have seen so many different iterations in their, what, 30+ years of existence. As someone with no prior attachment to the turtle brand, I don't have a lot to say here. Leo's not the leader in this one and Raph has more personality than being angry at Leo for being the leader. Donnie is not just a random nerd spouting technobabble and Mikey has more depth than yelling the catchphrase every now and again. Apparently, this made people upset. I don't know how to help you with that.  The middle brothers exude some high chaotic energy and should not be left unsupervised, but the oldest and youngest seem fairly stable.

Raphael, the red-bandana'd alligator snapping turtle is an imposing figure. He's the oldest and therefore team leader by default. Raph has no reason to be upset at Leo, so he isn't. Despite his ferocious appearance, he's a soft guy, who likes teddies and doting on his brothers, but fears puppets. He's a bit of a knucklehead, most of his plans involve smashing things with his tonfa and he may refer to himself in the third person in the heat of the moment, but he possesses emotional intelligence, is open about his feelings and looks after his brothers. He is big and and strong, but his heart is bigger and stronger. He especially loves small animals animals, who don't usually return his feelings. RIP in F. This responsible guy is voiced by Omar Benson Miller. 300/10, very soft. Somehow both the heart and the big guy of the group.

Donatello has been upgraded from second-to-youngest to second-to-oldest, not that it makes much of a difference. His color of choice is purple and he continues in the character's tradition of being a nerd, although this time, with self-confidence. Donnie is very sure of himself and his abilities. As a spiny soft-shell turtle, he's less sure of his shell, but that's okay, he's made robotic battle shells to make up for it and his bō is the mother of all multitools. This guy can build you a tank out of a buggie and upgrade your animatronic into something to give the FNAF franchise a run for its money. He's the smartest of the four and when not focused on his phone, very focused on the mission. Due to having to deal with his bros, he can be exasperated a lot. Thinks of himself as an emotionally unavailable bad boy, even though he's just really sensitive and wants his dad or someone parent-aged to tell him they're proud of him. Theater kid. 999/10, give the middle child a hug and some coffee, you can't tell me he has a healthy sleep cycle. This sarcastic nerd is brought to you by Josh Brener.

Leonardo, Ben Schwartz's second blue character (Sonic (2020) being the third under his belt) and also his second ninja after Randy Cunningham. He's not the leader. He's still a good character. Leo has approximately 800 charisma and unwavering faith in both, his family and himself. Mostly himself though. Like Louie, season 2 revealed that he is a master of prediction and playing people like the cheap kazoo you can't tell me he doesn't have to play Darude's Sandstorm on. He dabs, he boards, he will pun you to death and back and he has an Odachi that can cut through space. Leo likes hogging the spotlight when given the chance and wants to be showered with attention and praise. Having four kids really only means twice the middle child nonsense. Leo is a red-eared slider, the original species of the TMNT, as I've been told. He's also the best at being a ninja, but usually too lazy to really apply himself. He's younger than Donnie, but tumblr suggested to read the two as twins, since they're approximately the same age, which sheds a whole new light on their dynamic and frankly, makes way too much sense. 420/10, for our memelord Leonardo.

Michelangelo, the eternally youngest of the bunch. An artiste, who puts stickers on himself, tags the lair, has a spiritual connection to his skateboard and the color orange. Mikey loves all things arts and craft, but he also tries his hands at cooking. He idolizes famous TV chefs and can do pretty much anything out of and into pizza. He's funny, without being annoying, like I feel a lot of other iterations of this character are. It's an easy pitfall for comic relief guys, but this one is more than that. If that's an issue, feel free to leave my house. Mikey is genuinely sweet and happy, optimistic and soft, but also the one brother who knows when it's time to take off the gloves and just get straight to the point. He's open about and in touch with his feelings. He's just baby. Don't treat him as one though. A lot of promo stuff says Leo has taken him under his wing, but he's had more episodes together with Donnie. Not that I'm complaining, they work very well together. Mikey and Raph are both the emotional centers of the group. Does not mind being yeeted after retracting into his shell, as box turtles may do. (Disclaimer, do not yeet actual box turtles!) His weapon of choice is a Kusari-Fundo that can turn into a fire-demon and is about as unpredictable as he is. Likes to jump and bounce around. Probably does parkour. Voiced by Brandon Mychal Smith who is audibly having a blast. 500/10, just an all around Kusari-fun guy.

For last, but certainly not least, April O'Neil, my girl, who saw an upgrade from flip-flopping love interest who was vaguely ninja-ing, but mostly damsel in distress-ing, to all-around spunky powerhouse and by God, she is glowing. Rise has her more as a big sister figure to the turtles, and I will not be told otherwise. She is independent and don't need no man, mutant or no. She has her teleporting pet, her faith in herself, her pinpoint baseball hitting skills and the a complete and utter lack of fear. Despite being a weirdness magnet, April is perfectly comfortable. She would like to be able to keep a job, maybe, but she has loving friends who respect and love her. Surprisingly good a ninja, fearless and fun. Occasionally thinks about being popular at school, but it's really not a big concern, she's not gonna throw a tantrum over it or anything. April is very chill. Not likely to be damseled. More likely to run after the turtles and clean up their messes or save them and everyone involved is fine with that.

The late 10's are really coming in to show us how dynamic and well-written female characters that aren't just "strong", but three-dimensional and relatable are done, huh?

An iconic performance by Kat Graham and ∞/10 for being the honorary better ninja non-mutant non-turtle and best big sister.

Here we have it, two older properties, having new life breathed into them to make them fresh and enjoyable. Have a new spin put on them, to better fit in with our current world. You can feel the love oozing out of every frame. At the end of the day, of course, it all boils down to taste and whether or not you like something. I gave Ducktales 2017 a go because a lot of the staff from Gravity Falls went to work on it and if you don't know me, I love me some Gravity Falls. It's a good show and I enjoy it. I recently got into Rise and while I don't know much about the people working on it, it is also a greatly enjoyable show, easily on the same level as Ducktales, if not above, yet with far less people speaking about it. Which is frankly saddening. I can only recommend the two of them wholeheartedly. If you love animation, yourself and occasionally feeling things, these are for you!

After your mother died in the lab due to a deadly misfortune, you couldn’t stay in Midvale longer and you have to get out of your house where you spent your whole life.

Beautiful but also bad memories tormented you in this house and it still hurt to connect them with your mother.

You had to get out of there, even the sight that once was so colour- and powerful was just a black and white and brought tears to your every time.

Also, the sight of old family photos, with Jeremiah, Eliza and you sisters on the terrace, the first one you actually shot when Kara came to earth, hurt and your sisters held them back from you, even if you would like to see them more than anything else and grieve.

They wanted to spare you the pain; these wounds were still too fresh. It was only a few weeks ago when you saw your mother for the last time, and you felt guilty.

Because on this day you argued with her before you went out the door to school and leaving her alone, standing by herself in the middle of the living room.

If only you had told her how much you love her, at least this one time.

It was one of the most important days in your life. Today decided if you could stay with your sisters or you had to go to a children’s home.

It was almost time; the woman form the youth welfare office had registered for today.

None of you could close your eyes tonight, no one could eat the breakfast in front of them and the fear was written on your sisters faces.

Kara had freed herself after talking to Lena about it today and was more than happy to know that when someone needed Supergirl, J’onn jumped in for her by turning into her and Lena also stood by her side.

Also Alex was not in the DEO today; too important was the appointment any you.

“I swear, when this is over and everything goes well, I’ll get drunk.” stated the eldest as she got up and left you both alone at the dining table.

You and your other sister started smiling even if you both didn’t feel like it. It still brought a smile to your face.

However, this was again driven away from the fear and panic in you. What if the woman tears you away from you sisters and puts you back in another family?

You wouldn’t go through that again.

You also stood up and put your food in the oven for later if you would get hungry.

Tears has built in your eyes, your hands balled into fist as you tried to fight against your emotions. But you lost.

Quickly you went to Kara who was still sitting at the table, with her thoughts probably completely elsewhere when you felt her jumping a bit while you hugged her as hard as possible.

As fast and well she could, she stood up with you, not letting you go. She turned to face you since you hugged her from behind. Now the tears ran unhindered down your cheeks and lay down on the blouse of the blonde.

She stroked gently over your head while she rocked you. The other arm wrapped around your shoulders and pressed you tightly against her.

“I’m so scared; I don’t want to lose you both.” You admitted between sobs.

“Shh, everything will be fine, you will stay with us, and we will do anything for it.”

You stood there for quite a time when you heard the squeak of the bathroom door in which Alex had recently disappeared. Small and soft footsteps sounded on the floor before they became louder with each step until they finally stopped.

You felt an warm embrace around you before a warm hand ran up and down your lower back and you couldn’t do anything than let out even more and stronger sobs as you clung to Kara even more.

“What happened?” the redhead asked in shock.

“Nothing, she is scared to lose us.”

Immediately Kara broke away from you and Alex came to the fore. One arm wrapped around your hips and together you walked to the couch where she sat you in and kneeled in front of you while Kara sat down next to you, rubbing little circles on your thigh.

The DEO agent cupped your face in her hands and looked deep into your eyes as she wiped your tears from your face with her thumb pads.

“Listen, to me kid. You will not lose us and you will certainly not be taken away from us either. We will prove to the know-it-all lady that we are good enough to take care of you. You have everything you need here, you have the superfriends which are your family who are fighting with us and even if that doesn’t work, we still have an ace up in our sleeve.”

You didn’t really wonder about the last sentence, your sisters always had a plan B and you knew that so you just nodded and looked at her. Your badass agent was close to tear up and you saw how much she fought and yet she didn’t show her true emotions and stood strong like you should be in this moment.

“Now stop crying because you will make me cry and I don’t want that cause we are strong. We are the Danvers sisters, we are stronger together.” She paused a moment. “And these two faces here,” she started, pointing with her forefinger at Kara’s and her face, “you will never get rid of those two faces. Never”

You looked between the two, sighed and started smiling. They always knew how to make you feel better.

Kara smiled back and Alex sat down next to the blonde, held her arms open, indicating you that you could sit on her lap if you wanted.

And of course you wanted. You three got into a hug. You lay on Alex while Kara was half on you, hugging you from behind. You quietly listened to the calming heartbeats and tried to calm yourself down with it.

After a few minutes from being in this position, the bell made you fell into reality again; you were so caught up in that moment that you almost jumped. Once again you all smiled at each other and nodded before Kara opened the door with Superspeed and the lady in front of you appeared.

“Good morning, my name is Mira Thompson. I’m from social services and had signed up a few days ago by calling you.”

“Good morning, Mrs. Thompson. I’m Kara Danvers and that’s Alex, my sister. Please come in.”

It was a long two hours of overpower and tension. Of talking and convincing. Of hope and fear.

The woman was hard to crack and you couldn’t see through her exactly.

Kara tried to buy her with coffee and cake, showed her the double bright side of her and showed her around the apartment that your two sisters had together.

She also looked at your newly redesigned room which you designed with the red and blond haired like you wanted. She paid close attention to the relationship between each of you, her eyes kept on moving to you and your charisma, how you behaved and how you looked between them.

She kept emphasizing how neat and tidy it was here and how happy you were, how your eyes radiated and your lips formed into a smile over and over again when your sisters where around and also the conversation that you had to take with her alone was good in your opinion.

That’s what you hoped, at least.

Again and again she wrote down note on her iPad which gave you panic but your sisters where there for you. She let Alex and Kara go through the toughest questions, hoping that the two would answer them correctly and to the taste of Mrs. Thompson.

“As far as I see this here, you’re in good hands, the confirmation that you already have some friends here and the papers that confirm that you have already found a school on which you could go soon would be nothing to restrict you from living with your sisters.” She started the conversation when you were called down and sat down between your sisters. “But..”

“Kara works at the biggest media center in the world and often needs to be away in other cities for researches and interviews and Alex works at the FBI, which is certainly not without, I would worry that you would be alone too long or Alex would get hurt or worse while working.”

You swallowed hard and were unable to say anything, was it over now?

“We can assure you that we will be there for her whenever she needs us, we have good bosses who are our friends too and they would surely turn a blind eye when they now that Y/N is sick or otherwise.” Alex took over rudder while you collected your thoughts and emotions.

“Our friends we’ve been telling you about are taking care of her as well and would continue to do so – they’re are her family. Our family.” Kara intervened in the conversation.

“If that is so..” the woman stood up and you three followed her movements. “I would be ready to file in the documents and register you both as her legal guardians.” She smiled slightly and you were overwhelmed.

So overwhelmed that the tears started to ran down again and you fell around Alex’s neck while Kara accompanied her thankfully to the door and said goodbye.

After the door locked, you were still snuggled up to Alex and looked at Kara.

“We have to celebrate this. I will call everyone.” Said the blonde in a squeaky voice; cheering at the door and jumping around like a small child.

You couldn’t believe it. You did it.

For days there was a stone on your chest that made breathing a difficult task and a tornado raging in you. But you finally did it and you felt free.
