Did I miss my post this week?????? Did my schedule get all kerfuffled??????? I think so. Anyway have some Dean Winchester.

Dean never wanted anything from the Angels. Not praise, not salvation, not glory. He just wanted to be left alone. That's until the angels "gave" you to him.

"A gesture of gratitude for your sacrifice." Zachariah said.

"For the last damn time, I don't want it." Dean snapped, voice gruff. He gets fired up going toe to toe with pig headed angels. They don't listen, and it never fails to ruffle his feathers.

"Be that as it may, the gift is yours."

Then he was gone before Dean could refuse for the millionth time. Maybe threaten some bodily harm. But Dean is sure yelling at the sky won't do him much good, so he decides not to waste his breath. He huffs, storming back into his motel room to pour a drink.

A gift for his suffering.

That's some sick joke. Dean gets forced to make impossible decision after impossible decision, forced to complete herculean feats, and after all that bullshit those winged bastards decide to switch up and get all benevolent? Well he's not taking it. That son of a bitch didn't even tell him what this gift is supposed to be. He starts to pour more liquor into the paper cup he's mangling in his grip when he sees it.

Lying on his bed, bathed in golden sunlight, you lay asleep.

You're on top of the covers, hands and feet perfectly posed. If he didn't know any better he'd think you were dead. Which would be a real shame, because good god he has never seen someone as beautiful as you. Dean is frozen for a moment, paralyzed by surprise and admiration. His eyes move over your figure, watching your steady breaths rise and fall, and he feels something. He inches closer, feeling some sort of claim deep inside him. Like you need to be protected, taken good care of, and he's the only one up to the task. It's ridiculous, the logical part of his mind screams, he doesn't even know you. The angels sent you as some sort of pacification, to trick him into feeling content. And goddammit it's working. Dean feels at ease just standing next to you, and he hates the angels even more. But not enough to really pull his thoughts from you.

He snaps out of his daze, watching you lie there in his bed like sleeping beauty. He nudges you gently, talks to you, tries to wake you up, but nothing works. You just remain still, a becon of peace.

Sam comes back to the motel pretty soon, and Dean brings him up to speed.

"I think-" Dean starts, knowing it sounds ridiculous. "I think this whole thing is supposed to help us somehow..."

He trails off, gesturing to you, to the whole situation at large.

Sam huffs in consideration, then agrees.

"Now we just gotta figure out how to wake up."

My POV as a Black fan that thinks Dot and Bubble's racism commentary is trash

Rewatched Dot and Bubble and I'm gonna break down from my POV as a Black fan why this episode didn't work for me & why it's an awful racism commentary. Long arse post incoming:

The whole "You should've noticed the cast was all white except for fifteen ha your bias is showing" doesn't work for a show that's been predominantly white for 60+ years. D&B casting has been the default for most of the show so its not abnormal enough to be a racial litmus test. An example is the Matt Smith era The only reoccurring character of colour in s5 (2+ appearances) is Liz 10. Artie n Angie in s7. 0 in s6. RTD's own era isn't fully safe either. For many eps Martha or Mickey are the *only* Black characters. Most POC are side characters or extras.

White fans should be aware of the predominantly white casting of the show but this late in the game feels cheap. Most of the show has gone through 100% white episodes including fan faves and it was never an issue back then bc it was beneficial. This is so hollow. Representing racists as cartoon caricatures SEVERLY underestimates the danger of white supremacy irl. White supremacy is system designed and constructed and rebranded over centuries. It is not accidental. People aren't racist bc they don't know they're racist because they *do* They know the system that oppresses POC, Black people especially, benefits them socially and financially and that is why they participate. Its not stupidity it's intention. That should've been the Finetime core not Lindy goofing around bc the arrows are gone or some shit.

Human Nature showed us racist young people that exercised this power bc they knew this. They may be children but they are still dangerous bc of their views. Martha knew this. The silly tech obsessed gen z angle erases this danger and that of actual gen z white supremacy

Instead of the camp goofy tone we could've gotten a serious focused episode. The slugs and millenial/gen z social media silly distracts from what could've been the main theme of colonisation instead of saving it for 10 mins of exposition at the end & scattering microaggressions. Saving Fifteen's racism scene for a goofy episode was a horrid idea. Spending 30 mins on representing racism as silliness then giving a dramatic dangerous score is the definition of tonal whiplash. Representing his oppressor as a blonde bimbo again does not take this seriously. Fifteen went to 1960s BRITAIN & got through it unscathed. Finetime is a fictional futuristic land but the racism of 1960s Britain was real. If anytime was right it could've been Devil's Chord. Distancing yourself from a panto villain is easy but addressing your history is hard.

The scene itself is incredibly performed so I'll give Ncuti his flowers but what he used this skill for could've been so much more. Having his FIRST SCENE begging to save a racist is disgusting. It isn't Black people's responsibility to show compassion to people that want us dead. Yes the Doctor helps the baddies bc they care. But they're aren't ignorant to prejudice. The liberal anti racism of who is so jarring and why I still think Thin Ice is performative. When white people are angry at injustice it's radical. When it's Black people we're aggressive.

Respectability politics is a tool of white supremacy. That if one pleads and is nice enough they can earn liberation. What would white fans think of Fifteen if he DIDN'T beg Lindy? If your allyship with Black people depends on showing kindness to racists you are NOT an ally.

Next up is Ricky. It was established ALL Finetime citizens have white supremacist views yet Ricky September stans refuse to see him in any negative light. Just like Joan Redfern white dw fans refuse to see racism if a character is likeable. If nice guy Ricky's a racist, then anyone no matter the niceness can be racist too and that's a pill white fans aren't ready to swallow. If racism is systemic and not about individual character, then what's keeping them safe? What happens when YOU are under the microscope.

THIS is why we NEED Black writers in Doctor Who. The nuances, depth and complexity of the Black experience can only be told at it's best by Black creatives and not guessed, assumed or spoken over by white fans and white writers. It's okay to put ego aside and say you don't get it.

"Im white but I loved the Doctor's reaction" "I'm white and i thought the racism commentary was great" "I'm white but i-" Yet again, we have to sit through another round of white and non Black fans of colour dictating Black representation for us. I'm so fucking tired man. AGAIN IM YELLING FROM MY HILLTOP TO WATCH SHOWS BY BLACK WRITERS. Almost EVERY single theme in Dot and Bubble and frankly most of the show has been done WAY better in other media. RTD is not the authority on Black stories. We are. Always have been and always will.

Tl;dr Dot and Bubble is an unserious and tacky racism commentary. It's core message is drowned by more RTD Who camp. Don't tell me this episode was good at representating my own experience. It wasn't. S15 having Black writers isn't a need it's a must. Goodbye.

July Break Bingo: Pond

I signed up for July Break Bingo / @julybreakbingo and immediately was inspired by the "Location: Pond" square on my card. I'm so pleased; I've written almost nothing in the last month or two, and it feels so good to get something out again! Also posted on DW.

Location: Pond Biggles, gen, 700 wds

On this peaceful afternoon, there was—until a few moments ago—nothing much going on at this end of the quiet pasture. Perhaps there might have been some excitement at the far end, a few gunshots and the sound of a distant engine starting up. But down here, there was just a picturesque little pond, a few trees with their leaves fluttering in a light breeze, and a handful of drowsy sheep.

The sheep were now clustered in a tight knot under a tree a few dozen yards from the pond, which sported some new accessories, namely: a wing and part of a fuselage and aeroplane tail sticking up the air, and several thrashing, muddy figures struggling to get out of the water.

Ginger was first; he turned back to help Bertie out, while Algy heaved a weakly struggling Biggles onshore with a fist in the back of his jacket and then had to be helped out by Ginger, as they were all covered in mud and he kept slipping back in.

Coughing, Biggles sat up, swiping his hair out of his eyes. "Are we all here? Anyone hurt?" He swept his gaze across the bedraggled little group; his face, under the mud, changed to alarm. "Where's vo—"

"The prisoner?" Algy interrupted. "The one whose ill-advised escape attempt is the cause of our current predicament? That one?"

"Yes, where is he?" Biggles started to rise, fell down, and was then held down when Algy grabbed his arm. "Algy, let go, he might be trapped under the machine—"

"He's over there," Ginger put in.

Von Stalhein, covered in mud and streaming water, was just extracting himself from the opposite side of the pond. With a lithe, eel-like movement despite his sodden condition, he slipped out onto the bank, where he rolled over, sat up, and glared across the pond at them.

"Anyone have a gun?" Algy asked, keeping a grip on Biggles.

"All the guns are at the bottom of the pond, 'm afraid," Bertie said. He attempted to polish his eyeglass on his muddy shirtfront and then looked at it in distress.

"Not to mention the papers we were supposed to retrieve," Ginger remarked. With a swift glance at von Stalhein on the far side of the pond, he added, "I don't suppose there's anything left to retrieve at this point. They'll be so much paper pulp now."

Von Stalhein wrung out his sleeve and plucked a strand of pond weed from his arm, continuing to regard them balefully.

"That means we've nothing to argue about any more," Biggles said cheerfully. He had finally managed to shake off Algy.

"I suppose you're going to tell us that he hasn't done anything wrong and there's nothing to call the authorities about," Algy said between his teeth. He jerked a little, reached into his pocket, pulled out a frog and tossed it back into the pond.

"Well, he hasn't the papers on him, has he?" Biggles said. "You can't arrest a fellow for falling in a pond."

"He crashed the plane!"

"I'd call it more of a group effort," Biggles said. "Anyway, it hardly matters now, does it? The matter's settled, we're safe on the ground and all that's left is to see if there's anything with a winch about, perhaps a tractor." Raising his voice for von Stalhein's benefit, he went on, "We're going to walk over to the farmhouse and find out if they have a telephone and what sort of machinery might be knocking about the place. You're welcome to come with us—get a hot drink and dry off, at least. We can sort the rest out afterwards. Any extra hands raising the aeroplane would be welcome."

"Or you could take advantage of our distraction to run away," Algy said, hopefully.

Von Stalhein said nothing. Calmly he planted a hand in the face of a bolder-than-usual sheep that had wandered up to investigate and pushed it away.

"Come on," Algy said, giving Biggles a hand up. They began straggling muddily toward the farmhouse. After a long moment, von Stalhein got to his feet and followed them, some distance behind, trailed at a further distance by the sheep.

First of all, I'm flattered you're thinking about joining our server (join link here if you need it) and I appreciate your inquiry about its insides! :D I'm sorry that this became such a long response, but I hope it gives you some peace of mind either way xD

We're currently two mods if you include me as the admin, with @cogsanity being the other, and ca 85 people total.

In terms of setup, I've designed the categories roughly after the layers of hell within the game, although the channels within don't necessarily all reflect that lol. It's more for easier sorting and visual distinction really.

Limbo is more for moderation, organization and information.

You can read up on the rules, assign yourself some roles via a reaction-roles system, write an optional introduction with the pinned template in #terminal-entries, see any announcements me or Shin make (dw we rarely ever ping @everyone unless it's dire or important, tho I also just generally use it to log changes made to the channel structures) and ask us mods if anything's unclear :3

Then we have two gen channels with some fun extra channels to dump photos and pet related things in...

...and two main art channels (a lot of us are artists), as well as extra channels for headcanons, brainstorming, AUs, OCs, off topic infodumping and memes/spam as well as a spoiler channel for screenshot saturdays hype and whenever act III may release, so that people can catch up in their own time without getting spoiled prematurely :3

Oh! And we also of course have a channel for bragging abt your high scores in and another to ask for gameplay help from more experienced players!

We have carl-bot for reaction-roles and PluralKit for systems, and while we technically also have a music bot, the one we have rn is kind of a bitch to get working the way I need it to so I'm probably going to replace that one soon, until then it's functionally not really count-able lmao.

We allow a certain amount of sex jokes for the most part (with the deliberate exception that they are never to be directed at other members) since this is a 16+ ultrakill server - however actually explicit content (i.e. memes, writing, artworks) are to be kept to their own secluded section that an access role has to be given manually for and is only given to people that are 18+. We strictly moderate in this regard to ensure it's a safe and comfortable space for everyone.

In terms of atmosphere we're all very neurodivergent and very queer :'DD some very chatty folks, some more quiet ones, lots of good jokes and an overall pretty easygoing and respectful air.

We are strictly against any and all forms of discriminatory and phobic behavior and try to encourage mutually supportive creativity.

Here's our current lineup of emotes^ (the drones spin, one slower, one faster and the sideways v1 and v2 are doing patty cakes), all of which are credited in a pinned message on-server within the emote suggestions channel.

We have an event planned for november (we're setting up a pool of server banner designs made by the members that we're then picking every month via randomizer to be the server banner for the next 30 days) and are currently cooking up another event for around christmas as well >:3.

We also have a minecraft realm with extra channels for that purpose (locked behind a self-assign role just so it's not visible and bothersome to people that have no interest in it) and try to do somewhat weekly activities such as gartic phone, magma and I've also heard talks of a karaoke night being attempted soon, as well as some jackbox and cards against humanity being considered some time :D

Since this server is a very chatty one that loves hanging out en masse in vc, we've set up 5 main voice channels:

one for specifically art streams

one for game streams (or really streams in general, we often have some artists stream art on the side while another streams gameplay lmao)

one for just talking

one for activities like gartic phone

and because people tend to get overwhelmed with more than 5 people in vc, we also have a limited capacity vc for those that prefer a calmer hangout spot :3.

There might be more added in the future depending on activity and demand tho.

As a frame of reference, when we did the gartic phone session last weekend, we were ca 16 people in vc, and we only lasted about 3 rounds before everyone got a headache from overstimulation and needed to log off or split up into the campfire vc lmfao.

I'm surprised that one went as well as it did though, since it was very chaotic but still in a very controlled and fun way. VC sessions rarely get that big anyways, but I'm very glad that when they do, it's not pure, unadulterated, deafening chaos and that the means we've provided for self-managing your needs do get used as intended :').

Also just as a sidenote, there's a lot of users on there that are also floating around the main Ultrakill tag frequently, so I'm sure you'll recognize a few familiar faces if you do decide to join :3.

Music May 2023 #16: X:IN - Keeping the Fire release: April 2023 genre: Kpop

Hooboy. Hokay, so, like, I'm trusting everyone reading this to behave like a rational adult or else stop reading right now, because I'm not here to listen to any whining or racist nutfuckery. And if that feels like an aggressive opening, well, I just came off research and the bugnuts bullshit these ladies are already having to face after debuting just last month is somewhere between actually insane and terrifyingly impressive. And I don't use any of those words lightly, so...

With Kpop becoming more and more of a global phenomenon, it's not surprising (or at least shouldn't be) that companies are getting more international hopefuls in auditions and including those hopefuls in new groups. As we're now tipping over into 5th gen (!!!), the way smaller labels are taking bigger risks putting together more internationally sourced groups is ... kinda nice? A bit surprising if only because I know how conservative the industry tends to be as a whole and how the metafandom can get really mean about anyone trying to do something different or experimental. So it's not all that surprising to see kpop fans already picking on these ladies for everything from their stage names to Nova's being Russian to Aria's request to have fewer Korean lines while she's still learning the language (her fourth).

As a debut single, "Keeping the Fire" should have been a pretty non-controversial song - it's a fairly standard kpop dance beat, brassy and loud, with uncomplicated vocals that reminds me strongly of Blackpink and 2NE1. It's a good song, but also the sort that could easily get lost in a playlist of dance beats and almost a let down compared to pre-debut single "Who am I" which feels, in my opinion, like a stronger showcase song. It's safe, but not really wow-ing as a song, and as I've made a review of their round of the music shows, it becomes clear why. Sure, I'm spoiled for live vocals by older, more stable idols, and the choreography for this song makes singing it live harder, but they probably could have used another six months of training to further stabilize before doing live singing stages. On the other hand, I fully believe the raw talent is there and hopefully their next comeback will have stronger live vocals.

The music video goes full brat energy, between camera work, pyrotechnics, and even a wet/rain stage section. As if the director heard the phrase "go big or go home" and took it to heart. There's a lot of sets for not even three minutes of video and a lot of attitude from each of the members, whether dancing or just prancing through the set. There's room to argue whether this is more sexualized or self-empowered (or both?), where you land is probably going to depend a lot on where you're starting from.

As a brand new group, X:in only has three tracks to their name, but their company has already shown a willingness to spend what it takes to get them out there as wide as possible, so they're likely on all the streaming services. How far they will go from here remains to be seen.

Things could definitely be better;; got some really bad medical news for my grandpa :( so we're all spending as much time with him as we can. (Hence why I've been gone the last 2-3 weeks, real stressed abt it.) Gonna see him later today, actually, before I go and see my other grandparents^^

Plus all the struggle with finding a job (sooo many places want you to be 21+ or able to regularly lift 50+ pounds, neither of which I can fulfil. I've got money saved up, though, and a reliable and safe place to live, so dw about me!!)

Other than that, I've been scripting like crazy. I just scripted my 39th desired reality 😭😭which is a little nutty to think about, but super fun, regardless! I scripted all sorts of goofy DRs (including a cowboy au of Obey Me), and managed to get pretty close to shifting on a few different nights! I'm still relying on the lucid dream method, so I'm trying to boost my dream recall as well (bc I heard that helps^^.)

I'm glad there's still interest in my blog~ I've never had people notice my absence before haha!

I'll be answering all my other asks here soon, as well as posting some more stuff related to shifting (maybe some scenario ideas or another template? Both are pretty fun!) so hopefully everyone can enjoy those! <3
