Well. I have a feeling I'm about to have a million new followers. (March 31st, 2025; not an April Fool's joke, unless Nanowrimo has very poor taste and timing)

This blog was made as an Anti-Generative AI to Nanowrimo, as well as a way to actually build a friendly, low-pressure, helpful community of aspiring writers, without the hard-fast-do-it-or-die pressure brought on by nanowrimo.
There is no official "contest" -- only a community coming together to inspire each other to write, help out with motivation by setting community goals, keeping participation motivation via Trackbear.app, etc!
The most popular writing challenge is still November for most people, but I myself have also started to keep a year-round, daily writing goal of 444 via the website 4thewords, which has been an extreme help in getting me to write a little at a time.
This year has been very hectic for everyone what with the election results so I haven't been very active on tumblr (I think everyone can understand that) but I was originally planning on also having each month of the year being a different themed writing / art challenge but got a bit distracted real life.
So, what is the Novella November Challenge?
It's a fun challenge where writers come together to write 30,000 (or your own personal writing goal!) words in 30 days, sharing tips, writing advice, plot ideas, accessibility aids, and committing to having fun while explicitly fighting back against Generative AI by using our own words and disavowing the use of scraping and generating to take away the livelyhoods of artists of all spectrums, and proving everyone who insists "generative AI is an accessibility tool" wrong by committing to our creative visions and making it easier for everyone to find the tools they need to succeed by sharing tips, free programs, and finding a like-minded community to support you! š
There is no official website, there is no required place to show your participation, this is a community initiative that will never be monetized by predatory sponsors or dangerous moderators abusing their power.
This blog is here to inspire everyone, regardless of experience level, to write and create the story they want to tell, in their own words, while striving to remain a fun, low-pressure challenge that doesn't turn into a stressful spiral, like often happened with Nano.

Most modern phones have a built-in option available on your keyboard settings which can be used on any writing program on your phone, and most modern PCs that allow a microphone (including headphone) connection has some kind of native dictation function, which you can find by opening your start panel and searching your computer for "Speech to text" or "voice to text".
Want to write while on the go, but don't want to / can't use the small phone keyboard to type, or speech to text?
You can, for as cheap as $40, buy a bluetooth keyboard that you can pair with your smart phone or tablet and use to write in any and all writing applications on your phone -- this allows you to write on the goal (especially using cross-platform websites or services, like 4thewords or google docs) , and the small screen can also help minimize distractions by muting notifications in your writing time.

1. FDA to Finally Outlaw Soda Ingredient Prohibited Around The World
An ingredient once commonly used in citrus-flavored sodas to keep the tangy taste mixed thoroughly through the beverage could finally be banned for good across the US. BVO, or brominated vegetable oil, is already banned in many countries, including India, Japan, and nations of the European Union, and was outlawed in the state of California in October 2022.
2. AI makes breakthrough discovery in battle to cure prostate cancer
Scientists have used AI to reveal a new form of aggressive prostate cancer which could revolutionise how the disease is diagnosed and treated.
A Cancer Research UK-funded study found prostate cancer, which affects one in eight men in their lifetime, includes two subtypes. It is hoped the findings could save thousands of lives in future and revolutionise how the cancer is diagnosed and treated.
3. āInverse vaccineā shows potential to treat multiple sclerosis and other autoimmune diseases

āThe speed of recovery we saw is incredible,ā said lead author Dr Ines Lange, from the University of Exeter.
6. EU regulators pass the planet's first sweeping AI regulations
The EU is banning practices that it believes will threaten citizens' rights. "Biometric categorization systems based on sensitive characteristics" will be outlawed, as will the "untargeted scraping" of images of faces from CCTV footage and the web to create facial recognition databases.
Other applications that will be banned include social scoring; emotion recognition in schools and workplaces; and "AI that manipulates human behavior or exploits peopleās vulnerabilities."
7. Global child deaths reach historic low in 2022 ā UN report
The number of children who died before their fifth birthday has reached a historic low, dropping to 4.9 million in 2022.
The report reveals that more children are surviving today than ever before, with the global under-5 mortality rate declining by 51 per cent since 2000.

Humans are not perfectly vigilant

Here's a fun AI story: a security researcher noticed that large companies' AI-authored source-code repeatedly referenced a nonexistent library (an AI "hallucination"), so he created a (defanged) malicious library with that name and uploaded it, and thousands of developers automatically downloaded and incorporated it as they compiled the code:

These "hallucinations" are a stubbornly persistent feature of large language models, because these models only give the illusion of understanding; in reality, they are just sophisticated forms of autocomplete, drawing on huge databases to make shrewd (but reliably fallible) guesses about which word comes next:

Guessing the next word without understanding the meaning of the resulting sentence makes unsupervised LLMs unsuitable for high-stakes tasks. The whole AI bubble is based on convincing investors that one or more of the following is true:
There are low-stakes, high-value tasks that will recoup the massive costs of AI training and operation;
There are high-stakes, high-value tasks that can be made cheaper by adding an AI to a human operator;
Adding more training data to an AI will make it stop hallucinating, so that it can take over high-stakes, high-value tasks without a "human in the loop."
These are dubious propositions. There's a universe of low-stakes, low-value tasks ā political disinformation, spam, fraud, academic cheating, nonconsensual porn, dialog for video-game NPCs ā but none of them seem likely to generate enough revenue for AI companies to justify the billions spent on models, nor the trillions in valuation attributed to AI companies:

The proposition that increasing training data will decrease hallucinations is hotly contested among AI practitioners. I confess that I don't know enough about AI to evaluate opposing sides' claims, but even if you stipulate that adding lots of human-generated training data will make the software a better guesser, there's a serious problem. All those low-value, low-stakes applications are flooding the internet with botshit. After all, the one thing AI is unarguably very good at is producing bullshit at scale. As the web becomes an anaerobic lagoon for botshit, the quantum of human-generated "content" in any internet core sample is dwindling to homeopathic levels:

This means that adding another order of magnitude more training data to AI won't just add massive computational expense ā the data will be many orders of magnitude more expensive to acquire, even without factoring in the additional liability arising from new legal theories about scraping:

That leaves us with "humans in the loop" ā the idea that an AI's business model is selling software to businesses that will pair it with human operators who will closely scrutinize the code's guesses. There's a version of this that sounds plausible ā the one in which the human operator is in charge, and the AI acts as an eternally vigilant "sanity check" on the human's activities.
For example, my car has a system that notices when I activate my blinker while there's another car in my blind-spot. I'm pretty consistent about checking my blind spot, but I'm also a fallible human and there've been a couple times where the alert saved me from making a potentially dangerous maneuver. As disciplined as I am, I'm also sometimes forgetful about turning off lights, or waking up in time for work, or remembering someone's phone number (or birthday). I like having an automated system that does the robotically perfect trick of never forgetting something important.
There's a name for this in automation circles: a "centaur." I'm the human head, and I've fused with a powerful robot body that supports me, doing things that humans are innately bad at.
That's the good kind of automation, and we all benefit from it. But it only takes a small twist to turn this good automation into a nightmare. I'm speaking here of the reverse-centaur: automation in which the computer is in charge, bossing a human around so it can get its job done. Think of Amazon warehouse workers, who wear haptic bracelets and are continuously observed by AI cameras as autonomous shelves shuttle in front of them and demand that they pick and pack items at a pace that destroys their bodies and drives them mad:

Automation centaurs are great: they relieve humans of drudgework and let them focus on the creative and satisfying parts of their jobs. That's how AI-assisted coding is pitched: rather than looking up tricky syntax and other tedious programming tasks, an AI "co-pilot" is billed as freeing up its human "pilot" to focus on the creative puzzle-solving that makes coding so satisfying.
But an hallucinating AI is a terrible co-pilot. It's just good enough to get the job done much of the time, but it also sneakily inserts booby-traps that are statistically guaranteed to look as plausible as the good code (that's what a next-word-guessing program does: guesses the statistically most likely word).
This turns AI-"assisted" coders into reverse centaurs. The AI can churn out code at superhuman speed, and you, the human in the loop, must maintain perfect vigilance and attention as you review that code, spotting the cleverly disguised hooks for malicious code that the AI can't be prevented from inserting into its code. There's a name for this phenomenon: "automation blindness." Humans are just not equipped for eternal vigilance. We get good at spotting patterns that occur frequently ā so good that we miss the anomalies. That's why TSA agents are so good at spotting harmless shampoo bottles on X-rays, even as they miss nearly every gun and bomb that a red team smuggles through their checkpoints:

In other words, they turn you into a reverse-centaur. Whereas my blind-spot double-checking robot allows me to make maneuvers at human speed and points out the things I've missed, a "supervised" self-driving car makes maneuvers at a computer's frantic pace, and demands that its human supervisor tirelessly and perfectly assesses each of those maneuvers. No wonder Cruise's murderous "self-driving" taxis replaced each low-waged driver with 1.5 high-waged technical robot supervisors:

AI radiology programs are said to be able to spot cancerous masses that human radiologists miss. A centaur-based AI-assisted radiology program would keep the same number of radiologists in the field, but they would get less done: every time they assessed an X-ray, the AI would give them a second opinion. If the human and the AI disagreed, the human would go back and re-assess the X-ray. We'd get better radiology, at a higher price (the price of the AI software, plus the additional hours the radiologist would work).
But back to making the AI bubble pay off: for AI to pay off, the human in the loop has to reduce the costs of the business buying an AI. No one who invests in an AI company believes that their returns will come from business customers to agree to increase their costs. The AI can't do your job, but the AI salesman can convince your boss to fire you and replace you with an AI anyway ā that pitch is the most successful form of AI disinformation in the world.

The only reason bosses want to buy robots is to fire humans and lower their costs. That's why "AI art" is such a pisser. There are plenty of harmless ways to automate art production with software ā everything from a "healing brush" in Photoshop to deepfake tools that let a video-editor alter the eye-lines of all the extras in a scene to shift the focus. A graphic novelist who models a room in The Sims and then moves the camera around to get traceable geometry for different angles is a centaur ā they are genuinely offloading some finicky drudgework onto a robot that is perfectly attentive and vigilant.
But the pitch from "AI art" companies is "fire your graphic artists and replace them with botshit." They're pitching a world where the robots get to do all the creative stuff (badly) and humans have to work at robotic pace, with robotic vigilance, in order to catch the mistakes that the robots make at superhuman speed.

As ever, the problem with a gadget isn't what it does: it's who it does it for and who it does it to. There are plenty of benefits from being a centaur ā lots of ways that automation can help workers. But the only path to AI profitability lies in reverse centaurs, automation that turns the human in the loop into the crumple-zone for a robot:

Humans now share theĀ webĀ equally with bots, according to a major new report āĀ as some fear that theĀ internetĀ is dying. In recent months, the so-called ādead internet theoryā has gained new popularity. It suggests that much of the content online is in fact automatically generated, and that the number of humans on the web is dwindling in comparison with bot accounts. Now a new report from cyber security company Imperva suggests that it is increasingly becoming true. Nearly half, 49.6 per cent, of all internet traffic came from bots last year, its āBad Bot Reportā indicates. That is up 2 per cent in comparison with last year, and is the highest number ever seen since the report began in 2013. In some countries, the picture is worse. In Ireland, 71 per cent of internet traffic is automated, it said. Some of that rise is the result of the adoption of generative artificial intelligence and large language models. Companies that build those systems use bots scrape the internet and gather data that can then be used to train them. Some of those bots are becoming increasingly sophisticated, Imperva warned. More and more of them come from residential internet connections, which makes them look more legitimate. āAutomated bots will soon surpass the proportion of internet traffic coming from humans, changing the way that organizations approach building and protecting their websites and applications,ā said Nanhi Singh, general manager for application security at Imperva. āAs more AI-enabled tools are introduced, bots will become omnipresent.ā

There is a chance that Tumblr will start scraping your art and images to sell to AI companies Like Midjourney.

Important note for now: These are all speculative rumors coming from ex-tumblr employees at this point. But the important fact remains the same: You need to be Glazing AND Nightshading any and all content you upload.
Both Glaze and Nightshade are free for their desktop applications. They are developed by a team at the University of Chicago specifically with the intent of protecting artists from being scraped into AI datasets.
If your computer isn't strong enough, there is an online option called Web-Glaze you can request access for. Or, there is a new Art hosting website called Cara that has a partnership with the University of Chicago (the creators of Glaze and Nighshade) to integrate that same Web-glaze for all users to apply to anything they want to upload.
Again, there is a chance these rumors are false and this won't happen. But even if they are fake, all artists, and even just anyone uploading any image at this point, should be applying these programs to any uploaded image on the internet.

The weight of it all felt crushing as I sat in my small, dimly lit apartment. The furniture Iād once been so proud of now mocked me a reminder of how quickly everything can fall apart. The life Iād fought so hard to build, the independence Iād clung to, was crumbling right in front of my eyes.
Sitting at my kitchen table, I stared at my laptop, scrolling through the same job listings Iād seen a thousand times. Every option felt like a dead end. My heart raced each time I filled out another application, hoping this one might be different. But deep down, I knew better.
No matter how many resumes I sent, how many interviews I nailed, Steve had his boot on my neck, and it felt like he was pressing down harder every day. This was a long, drawn-out game for him, and I was trapped on the board with no way off.
Out of sheer desperation, I grabbed my phone and started dialing a few of the connections Iād made back when I worked for Rogers and Co. Maybe one of them could offer some advice, a lead, anything to help me claw my way out of this nightmare. But each call was met with awkward hesitations and thinly veiled excuses.
āSorry, Kiwi. I wish I could help, butā¦weāre not hiring right now.ā
āWeāll keep your resume on file, but, you knowā¦the marketās really tight.ā
It was painfully clear: no one wanted anything to do with me. Not with Steve Rogers involved.
"Just say sorry," Natasha said. Sheād called to check on me, and with everything piling up, I ended up venting it all. And this was her big advice.
āI didnāt do anything wrong,ā I replied, feeling the frustration build.
āIt doesnāt matter,ā she sighed. āSteve feels wronged. So, unless you want to go back to barely scraping by or, worse, moving back in with your parents, youāre going to go to him and apologize."
The weight of everything was crushing me. My savings were dwindling fast, and rent was looming. With no steady income, my anxiety was through the roof. I needed answers. I needed him.
So, I called Steve. Blocked. His work number? Blocked. I even tried reaching out to human resources. No one picked up. It was like I didnāt exist anymore.
With no other options left, I did the only thing I could think of, I went to his house.
By the time I got there, I was a wreck. My mind was a mess of emotionsādesperation, anger, shame. I had no idea what I was going to say or how this would go, but I needed to see him. I needed to fix this.
The guard, Curtis, stepped in front of me just as I reached the gated mansion. āIām sorry, Kiwi, you can���t come in.ā Sympathy softened his eyes.
Not that long ago, heād greet me with a big smile and a cheerful "good morning." Amazing how quickly things could change.
āPlease, Curtis, I just need to talk to him,ā I pleaded, my voice shaky.
He shook his head, unmoved. āYou know I canāt let you in. Youāll need to leave.ā His voice soft and regretful
Panic was clawing at my chest. I knew Steve had to be home by now. As long as he didnāt have any impromptu meetings, he should be here. I just needed to stall a little longer.
I continued to beg, keeping Curtis distracted when I saw Steveās sleek black SUV pulling up to the gate. My breath hitched as the window rolled down.
āSteve! Please!ā I rushed to his car, desperation leaking from every word. But then I froze when I saw a girl in the passenger seat. Small, delicate, and almost terrified.
Steve rolled down his window, sunglasses on, face completely unreadable. "This is Lemon," he said smoothly, like introducing her was the most natural thing in the world. "She's my new PA."
The world tilted beneath me. My replacement. Lemon. She looked at me with wide, uncertain eyes, like she didnāt know whether to be worried or sorry.
I couldnāt speak. All I could do was stare at her, then back at Steve. She was everything I wasnāt-thin, polished, perfect. Her nails were immaculate, her hair shiny and neat. I glanced down at the soft pooch of my belly, the wideness of my hips. I could feel every flaw like it was magnified under a spotlight.
The car inched forward, and just as Curtis started to pull me back, I whispered, āPlease... Iāll do anything.ā
Steveās car came to a sudden stop. He turned to me, then, after what felt like an eternity, he told Curtis to let me go.
It took me a second to process what heād said. He was letting me in. I scrambled into the backseat, heart pounding, unsure of what to expect.
Steve was calm, collected, as he spoke to Lemon about tomorrowās schedule. He told her which meetings to cancel, which to reschedule, even what kind of coffee he wanted in the morning. I listened in disbelief. Heād never done this with me. I always had to guess what he wanted, figure things out on my own. But with Lemon? Everything was smooth. Easy.
I couldnāt help the sinking feeling that washed over me. I felt like I was being crushed under the weight of my own inadequacy.
The car stopped at in front of Steveās mansion as a servant came to collect the keys from him. Lemon stepped out, her heels clicking against the pavement, and Steve followed, giving her a few more instructions before dismissing her. I watched them, feeling completely out of place.
Steve knocked on the window, signaling for me to get out. I scrambled out of the car, still trying to make sense of everything as I followed him up the grand staircase. My breath was shaky, my legs heavy, and with each step, it felt like the walls were closing in around me.
By the time we reached his home office, I was suffocating under the realization that I had just walked right back into his world, willingly. And this time, I wasnāt sure how I was going to make it out.
Steve moved around the room, his back to me, busy with something I couldnāt focus on. My mind was spinning, trapped in the loop of my own panic and anger, trying to think of my next move. What the hell am I doing here?
It wasnāt until he stopped and stood directly in front of me that I snapped back into the moment. Without thinking, without giving myself time to reconsider, I slapped himā¦hard.
The sting on my palm wasnāt nearly enough to calm the storm inside me. Before he could even react, I hit him again, this time pounding my fists against his chest, pushing with everything I had. But he didnāt budge. It was like hitting a brick wall. He just stood there, solid, unaffected.
āHow could you do this to me?ā I screamed, tears burning my eyes. āHow could you ruin me like this?ā
My fists kept slamming into him. I couldnāt stop. āI worked so hard! I wasted so much time, so much effort on you!ā My voice cracked, spilling out every bit of frustration that had been boiling beneath the surface for months.
Eventually, the fight drained out of me, my hands falling limp against his chest. But the words kept coming, tumbling out as tears streamed down my face. āYou knew, Steve. You knew my situation. i woke up feeling Nihilistic about Technology so now you must all suffer with me most people are probably not keeping up with what the tech companies are actually making, doing, demoing, with AI in the way i am. and that's okay you will not like what you hear most likely. i am also not any kind of technology professional. i just like technology. i just read about technology. there's sort of two things that are happening in tandem which is:
there is a race between some of the biggest ones (google, meta, openai, microsoft, etc. along with some not yet household name ones like perplexity and deepseek) to essentially Decide, make the tech, and Win at this technology. think of how Google has been the defacto ruler of the internet between the Search Engine that delivers web pages, and the Ad Engine that makes money for advertisers and google. they have all of the information and make the majority of the money. AI is the first technology in 20 years that has everyone scrambling to become the new Google of That.
ChatGPT, the thing we have access to right now, it is stupid sometimes. but the reason every single company is pushing this shit is because they want to be First to make a product that Works, and they also are rebuilding how we will interact with the internet from the ground up. the thing basically everyone wants is to control 'the window' as it were between You typing things into the computer, and the larger internet. in a real way, Google owns 'the window' in many meaningful (monetary) ways. the future that basically every company is working towards right now is a version of the the websites on the internet become more of a database; a collection of data that can be accessed by the AI model. every computer you use becomes the Search box on Google.com, but when you type things into it, it just finds information and spits it out in front of you. there is a future where 'the internet' is just an AI chat bot.
holding those two ideas at once (everyone wants to be the Google of AI, and also every single tech company wants us to look at the internet in a way they choose and have control over) THIS SUCKS. THIS SUCKS ASS.
THE THING THAT IS BEAUTIFUL ABOUT THE INTERNET IS THAT IT IS OPEN. you can, in almost every place in the world, build a stupid website and connect it to the internet and anyone can look at it. ANYONE. we have absolutely NOTHING ELSE as universal, as open, as this. every single tech company is trying to change this in a meaningful way. in the Worst version of this, the internet just looks like the ChatGPT page, because it scrapes data and regurgitates it back to you. instead of seeing the place where this data was written, formatted, presented, on its own website like god intended
the worst part is: despite the posts you see from almost everyone in our respective bubbles about how AI sucks, we won't use it, it's bad for the environment, etc. NORMAL PEOPLE are using this shit all of the time. they are fine that it occasionally is wrong. and also the models of the various Chatbot AIs is getting better everyday at not being wrong. for like the first time in like 20 years since google launched, there is a real threat that the place people go to search for things online is rapidly shifting somewhere else. because people are using this stuff. the loudest people against AI are currently a minority of loud voices. not only is this not going away, but it is happening. this is actually web 3.0. and it's going to be so shit
this is not to say you will not be able to go to tumblr.com. but it will take effort. browser applications are basically not profitable, just ask Mozilla. google has chrome, which makes money because it has you use Google and it tracks your data to sell you ads. safari doesn't make money, but apple Takes google's money to pay for maintaining it. most other browsers are just forked chromium.
in my opinion there will be one sad browser application for you to access real websites, it will eventually become unmaintained as people just go to the winner's AI chatbot app to access information online. 'websties' will become subculture; a group of hobbyists will maintain the thing that might let you access these things. normal people will move on from the idea of going to websites.
the future of the internet will be a sad, lonely place, where the sterile, commercially viable and advertiser friendly chatbot will tell you about whatever you type or say into the computer. it will encourage people to not make connections online, or even in their lives, because there will be a voice assistant they can talk with. one of the latest google demos, there is a person fixing their bicycle, having Gemini look thru the manual, tell them how to fix a certain part of the bike. Gemini calls a repair shop, and talks to the person on the other side. a lot of people covering this are like 'that future is extremely cool and interesting to me' and when i heard That that is when i know we have like. lost it.
for whatever reason, people want this kind of technology. and it makes me so sad.

ooo, this was going to be a different post, but this oneās about creative ambitions, chronic illness, and ai
(It ended up being too long! TL;DR at the end of it)
So, due to brainfog, stress, headaches, and idk what to call it ocd/anxiety, I havenāt been able to work on or develop much characters or stories.
Will do miscellaneous drabbles sometimes, character/disalogue/concept exercises, something to utilize any creativity. Small stuff I guess, for emotional processing. So, not Nothing, but eh.
What most of my drabbling has been though is back-and-forths on custom c.ai chats. Which I donāt want to think yielded MEANINGLESS results? Itās like, Iāll write something, and I know essentially how I intend for the scene to go and cycle through responses until I get one that is representative of where I wanted it to go. And seeing a response will give me enough cognitive fuel to find words for how I want the drabble to continue from that point.
Which, has it been helpful or bad for me? Not sure. Argument for helpful: it gives me an accessible way to get actualize some drabbles from out of my head. Because if I tried to write them all on my own, I would become deeply exhausted or too anxious to continue, and/or cause myself head pain.
Argument for bad-for-me: Could it be stunting opportunities to improve on writing? Maybe Iām just supposed to try harder if I want to write anything? I donāt want to lose my ability to write, so I donāt want to stunt myself on something like this. And while Iām drabbling these things with the idea of how I want them to turn out already in my head, it does ultimately mean that half of whatever drabble iām developing is a collage writing scraped from across the web and/ or that site, and the unethical/uncertain nature of that feels weird/bad. And probably safe to assume c.ai is environmentally destructive as any of these other chat models?
Itās been nice to have anything at all I guess. I guess I consider it more like playing a video game than writing? Like a choose-my-own-adventure that Iām in full control of, I guess. Like, I wouldnāt 1-for-1 publish any of it. But hypothetically I could salvage any of them to be short stories or bigger concepts to flesh out, and I donāt know how to feel about that. I think conceptually theyāre mine because I thought of them before Iād take it for a drabble, butā¦..
Eeeeehhhhhhh Iām approximately at a point where Iām like, I donāt want to end up feeling like I owe credit of inspiration for anything to something thatās generative ai? I want the original things I make to feel like theyāre mine, and if generative ai produced something I didnāt anticipate but wanted to use, then that feels out-of-hand to me. Like, no thatās not mine? eughhh.Ā
ALL THIS TO SAY, been too chronically ill to write and I donāt know if recreational c.ai is condemnable or, like, a point of the thing. Is it good to have been able to engage writing at all? Or if itās not wholely independent it does not count? But even with creative intentions and tweaking and micromanaging of the thing? It strikes me as an activity. euaghh but I guess I ultimately feel guilty and dissappointing about it.Ā
When it comes to generative ai for writing/art though, I canāt shake the feeling it has application for chronically ill artists, and it feels hurtful when I see videos/posts that are like āreal artists would never use these toolsā (Which tbh!!!! It so strongly echoes the pushback against digital art by traditional artists to me? Are we so far past people saying digital art isnāt art? Remember that?) or posts that are like [shows a picture of art that looks like it was physically painful for the artist to make] āSee? Disabled artists donāt need ai to make art!ā Like, yeah, they made art, but is that the only way Iām expected to make art? In pain? Because itās āthe right way to do thingsā? Or is there accessibility to be had!?
I see the potential of ai as a tool, itās just too problematic how it was developed and it doesnāt seem likely it would be done in a mindful way at this point. but imagine generating a composition base? Palette ideas? Backgrounds for comics? Something to help push writing an outline along? Getting feedback for when Iām stuck as hell on navigating a plot point or a plot hole or something? Euagghhh I think ultimately as an artist, doing these parts of the processes is part of whatās rewarding about doing the art anyway. Maybe what would happen is I would try any of these shortcuts and then feel like it wasnāt worth it or feels bad in the long run. I miss making art though :( I wish I could make art still. I wish I could make things with colors. I wish I could think about characters and write stories. I miss making things. Iām deeply sad and everyday grieve that Iām lost. Feels bad!

TL;DR, I canāt make art anymore, I can barely think about it, and it feels bad. Could ai tools be a balm for this in the future? Ai tools as they are though are so ethically mired. But I still feel bad that the response around disability & ai tools is that chronically ill people should have to suffer to make art or not make art at all. I feel silenced and sad! But in the end I donāt think I even want to rely on ai tools, for ocd/anxiety reasons. But it all just feels so bad!
