[JULY 2024] Songsterr tab for Weezer's "Burndt Jamb" has been updated, as per user request!

(This song had an existing 2009 tab from Songsterr user "Leonard". Said tab's guitar and bass tracks were already pretty well written, so my revisions to them were smaller, like adding distortion during the post-choruses and solo, as well as changing the post-chorus progression to power chords. Other than that, I overhauled the drum tab and added instrument labels.)

"Burndt Jamb" is the seventh track from Weezer's 2002 album Maladroit, and it is known as a fan-favorite from the LP for its lyrics and composition. In particular, the song switches from a funky, lightly-overdriven jazz-chord-type progression in the verses and choruses to a distorted power-chord-focused jam in the post-choruses, all accented by Rivers' headtone vocals. Due to its popularity, I often mistakenly assume it was also released as single from the album (when in actuality, "Dope Nose" and "Keep Fishin'" are the only two tracks from the LP to earn the title of being singles.)

As with other Maladroit tracks, "Burndt Jamb" has a fun and complex drumbeat, with frequent snare ghost notes and off-beat hihat pedals hits that keep things interesting. Its bassline also adds to the song's funky feel, with a lot of dead notes and syncopation.

i'm seeing like. summer post college graduation henry freaking out a little about What To Do, Just In General, so he uses his quarterly allotted impulsive decision to spend a summer doing some menial job in a little beach town where he meets local delight tristen robins who immediately takes on the challenge of getting this guy to chill out a little... and it mostly works! because of course it does! but local delight tristen robins has other boys, and henry is not long for this town, and there's justtt a little bit of drama that eventually gets resolved in some way because i can't not be nice to robbie <3

May at his point should just be called Weezer Month because we got another album anniversary, this time for Maladroit!

This record is another home run for the weez imo. Like Green being similar to Blue, Maladroit is similar to Pinkerton with the album being more abrasive, and like Pinkerton was self produced as well! I think this is what makes me prefer this one to Green(not at all a Green hater). Anyways let's get onto the ranking!

hey so i am starting an album of the month thing, planning on doing this once a month, and im choosing it because i feel like it. so without further adieu, the first album of the month is...

Maladroit (Weezer, 2002)

Maladroit is the fourth studio album by Weezer, released in 2002. It's widely regarded as one of the most forgotten and underrated Weezer albums (which I agree with). It followed the Green album, but in my opinion sounds very different, sounding like more of a mix between the classic sound of Blue and the more angsty Pinkerton. It's also the first album to feature Scott Shriner, who has been playing bass for the band since.

Maladroit has a ton of good songs. Personal highlights were:

-Keep Fishin'

-Slob

-Burndt Jamb (favorite track on the album)

-Slave

-Fall Together

Following Maladroit, Weezer released Make Believe, one of their most controversial albums. (Spoiler alert, probably won't cover this one for a while.) Make Believe marked a shift into a more overproduced, pop-sounding Weezer, which held until about 2010. Overall, Maladroit is a very good, classic Weezer album which shows almost no warning for the tonal shift to come.

Next month,I'll be covering a different album (duh), which I'm not gonna spoil. But I'll hint towards it: 102822-2403
