what we know about storm (2024)

coming in october is storm’s new solo, written by murewa ayodele with art by lucas werneck! in the weeks since it was announced, so many hints have been dropped and information revealed that it’s hard to keep track, but i wanted to at least try. under the cut is a list of confirmed information and hints. all of these things can be found on twitter. hopefully having this list will encourage excitement and some cool theories!

murewa ayodele (i am iron man) and lucas werneck (sins of sinister) team up to let a sprawling action-adventure thriller steeped deep in the marvel universe. dominance over a living rage planet in a solar system not so far away, fights against menacing dark spells from africa, political slow boils that span nations, the rescue of innocents from dangerous sea battles, and more.

ororo monroe has lived many lives. she has been the leader of the x-men, queen of wakanda, regent of arakko, and avenger. but before she was any of these, she was a god. in this series, she will become one once again… and perhaps something more. welcome to the labors of storm — where even the physical embodiment of the universe, eternity, cannot keep his eyes away — not until his plans for an eternal storm are made real — even if it will unalive our dear protagonist in the process.

here’s what we know:

first issue has some first appearances (frenzy and some avengers). she’ll be handling a "major meltdown" at a nuclear facility in oklahoma city.

interactions between eternity and ororo are vital to the series.

animal symbolism (hippos & lions) relating to her divinity, emphasis on hippos. something cute to balance out the action and heartbreak.

dark magic plays a significant role in issues #2-4.

issues #5 and #6 feature high-stakes action. ayodele compared them to battles in manga.

confirmed issue titles: "sick day" and "oblivion waits no longer"

appearances from doctor doom (issue #1), scott (issue ?), death (issue #5), iron man (issue #1), rogue (issue ?), oblivion (issue #5), and kwannon (issue ?).

going to latveria to have dinner with doom. "third time’s the charm"

interactions with t’challa largely covered in jed mackay’s avengers run.

ancient magic and her hair play a large role in the story.

ayodele has plans for a 30-issue run

ororo’s solo is independent of her role in avengers but ayodele and mackay have read each other’s scripts.

most of the story takes place on earth but she will go to space and interact with cosmic characters.

the "storm sanctuary" is her new headquarters which is located in atlanta

confirmed that there will be "sexiness" in issue #3 so, possible sex scene (maybe w/ craig or t'challa 🤔)? see tweet he responded to for context.

we’ll see more of ashake and ororo’s family.

he has plans for rogue storm, her elemental form.

from ayodele’s understanding, ororo is acting as the mutant voice on the avengers

going to see three layers: cosmic destiny, protector of earth (and what that entails), and personal life.

editorial mandates: she must be in atlanta, involved in international politics, trying to be a solo hero, and sharing her with the avengers.

one of the main focuses of the run is figuring out why she wants to go solo rather than be part of a team and how she adjusts to that.

another main focus is what do cosmic forces (eternity, etc.) want with her.

conflict with charles does come up (interviewer jokingly referred to him as her nemesis and he said that comes up)

going to include backstories but hopes to move those narratives forward

she has a secondary costume. one for daily hero things, another for when things get tough.

the second arc is where the avengers appear the most

use of cryokinesis in the first issue

here’s what’s been hinted:

possible appearances or crossover with wanda and jean, who also have upcoming solos. also may see living tribunal in issue #5.

expanding on new role as the face of mutants which was revealed in x-men #35

another character from G.O.D.S. in addition to eternity.

issue #2 may expand upon her mystical abilities.

will try to balance exploring ororo’s kenyan heritage and her black-american heritage. if he gets a longer run, he hopes to be able to explore this (tweet)

relationship with gentle is the inspiration for a relationship with another character.

Happy International Romani Day!

To celebrate the real #InternationalRomaniDay, this post will cover the fictional Rom Dr. Victor von Doom. In Fantastic Four Special #1 "My Dinner with Doom", Doom uses the Rapprochement Festival to invite Reed Richards over to dinner.

Dr. Doom sets the mood for Reed with Haydn's Quartet in F Minor. Opus 20 No. 4 is said by Haydn to be "in the [Romani] style". (the z-word, an exonym which comes from Greek for untouchables should not be used) Opus 20 No. 5 is what’s performed on page.

Doom has prepared Romani cuisine that were his mother's favorites for his dinner with Reed. The first named dish is sarma: cabbage leaves stuffed with rice, minced meat, and spices. As for the rest, I'm unsure if some are simply for the fictional Latveria or based on a real dish.

The care and intimacy with which Doom planned his date with Reed is significant. To invite Reed over and share his mom and culture's cuisine is no small thing for Doom. If I made any error in this post please let me know. Any insight and further comments welcome!

Do you want Agent Carter Season 3, or something close to it? Do you want that story to be a fanfic with various connecting fics taking inspiration from other Golden Age Marvel Heroes? Do you want stories that take place within the MCU, but are also a set-up for a soft reboot of the parts the authors don't like? You want gay shit? Then this project might just be for you.

Earth-6677 is a fanfiction project begun by @crash476, with assistance from @sparkyyoungupstart. Beginning as an idea of what happened to Peggy Carter's brother Michael, we have expanded it into a shared universe that slowly unveils a new history of the world that ties in both Marvel Comics, the MCU, and actual historical events.

Currently our focus is on the events of WWII and the post-war period of Agent Carter. Our main cast members are Michael Carter and an OC, Emily Gower, though we've combined them with elements of the comics characters Brian Falsworth (Union Jack) and Jacqueline Falsworth (Spitfire). So far a majority of our tales have focused on The Invaders, a team that in the comics punched Axis forces and starred Captain America, Namor, and the original Human Torch. They're not in our cast, but we hope the characters we did put in keep the same flavour.

We have hopes and plans to let the repercussions of our characters (and our own disappointments with several modern projects) echo throughout the timeline and into modern day - accompanied of course with more stories as long as we can find the time for them. For now, though, here's a rundown on what fics we have so far.

The Invaders series, focusing on the Golden Age (and in publishing order):

Death in the Golden Hour, a combination prologue and Flash Forward one-shot taking place immediately after the attack on Jack Thompson in the final moments of Agent Carter.

Sixes and Sevens, the story of Michael Carter's death being covered up during World War II. The Special Operations Executive see a golden opportunity, Carter is given a new identity - Brian Falsworth - and he's sent to join Operation Meridian, the British equivalent of Project Rebirth. When Dr. Erskine is assassinated in America, Major "Falsworth" is sent on a mission through the Middle East to track down an old colleague of Dr. Erskine's in the hopes that Britain can get their own super soldier. Joined by Emily Gower, the two must evade Nazis, HYDRA agents, and local governments in order to secure an advantage for the Allied forces.

Upon the Chaos Dark, a one-shot showing Roger Aubrey being captured and experimented on by Daniel Whitehall.

Shadow of the Eagle, where Carter's team embarks on a mission to destroy a U-Boat station in Greece, only to encounter several figures from his past.

Radio Chatter, a collection for various one-shots.

The Haunting of Villa Layla, where the members of the Fidonisi party regroup with their friends and share stories from their pasts.

Agent Carter: Phantom Pain, the point at which the story catches up to the prologue. Peggy and company must deal with Thompson's death, Dottie's return, the looming shutdown of the SSR, and Michael's return.

There is a House in the Mountains, where a contingent of Invaders are sent to rescue a spy on the inside of HYDRA.

Headfirst Slide into Latveria on a Bad Bet, where the other half of the Invaders go to Latveria to help a young Victor von Doom liberate his country.

We also have a TV Tropes page here; we've been updating it ourselves but our hope is that it can become self-sustaining if the series gets popular enough. After all, the more people who engage with our work the better our motivation to write more of it! So please, read and enjoy!

There's a fair amount of comic only focused blogs but it really depends on which characters you want to see.

the other DC country was Bialya btw and the only time I've come across it was in Young Justice where it was said that Traya Sutton was half-Bialyan and then later she suffered a hate crime because a fellow students' parents were killed in a terrorist attack there 😬😬😬

But she’s not Middle Eastern!! Bialyan is a completely fictional country that doesn’t mirror any Middle Eastern in real-life! So Bialyan is not a “real” ethnicity and it’s not comparable to being Middle Eastern :)
