Older but Never Wiser

CW: a bit of language

AN: Happy (almost belated) birthday @leiawritesstories my love!! This took way longer than it should have but depending on your time zone this might not be late yet lol, I’m dusting off the cobwebs to give you a little present :)

Based on this prompt: “you’re at the high school reunion and everyone’s talking about how you and [insert jerk here] were prom queen and king, unaware you dumped them years ago, and you’re moping… until you run into your nemesis from high school and you’re thoroughly distracted” (I can’t remember where this came from, it was just in my prompts folder, maybe I came up with it? Maybe not? Idk)

Aelin could feel her shoulders begin to hunch as she drew in on herself. She’d known Chaol would be here, of course, but she hadn’t known the subject of prom queen and king would come up so soon, nor their joint senior superlative of “most likely to get married.”

She also hadn’t known Chaol would show up with a gorgeous woman taller than her, hotter than her, certainly classier than her, and wearing a giant diamond on her finger.

“I really thought you two were going to last,” Essar said, voice dripping with pity and sorrow as if she’d truly been invested in the relationship of two high school classmates she’d hardly ever interacted with ten years ago, let alone following graduation.

Aelin smiled tightly. “Well, it was for the best. I’m much happier now with my new boyfriend.” A lie, and an obvious one at that, if Essar bothered to notice. As it was, she was clearly more interested in the piece of gossip than its verity, even a decade after high school.

Some things really didn’t change.

The subject of Chaol was a bitter one—they had lasted several years following high school, and while Aelin had had plenty of time to move on, and multiple relationships following Chaol, seeing him now brought up old insecurities. Being interrogated about the end of their relationship by some random classmate at a high school reunion wasn’t making matters better.

“If you’ll excuse me,” Aelin cut in, “I should make some more rounds. It was nice to catch up with you.” There wasn’t an ounce of sincerity in Aelin’s tone and she couldn’t quite bring herself to care.

She and Essar exchanged goodbyes and Aelin fled, hurrying over to her friend Elide. Elide had been the class valedictorian and was now head of some tech company in Rifthold.

After catching up with her and a few others, Aelin headed for the refreshment table. She wasn’t one for social events, and after the tedious process of listening to the reunion’s organizers give speeches, followed by a solid half hour of unstructured mingling, Aelin was drained.

She poured herself a cup of punch. Staring into the reddish liquid at a distorted reflection of herself, Aelin sighed.

“I can’t believe Aelin Galathynius, socialite, gossip, prom queen extraordinaire, is moping at the snack table at a social event. Hell really has frozen over.”

Aelin started at the voice, looking up to see a man with stark white hair towering over her. He had certainly changed over the past decade, but the sharp pine green eyes clued her in on his identity instantly.

“Rowan Whitethorn,” Aelin drawled, grinning. “You…” She looked him over, taking in the size of his crossed arms, the deep tan, and the hard features. A tattoo snaked up his neck from somewhere underneath his shirt. Aelin whistled. “Time has served you well.”

Rowan chuckled, the sound all too familiar. “You think so?” He paused, and gave her a once-over of his own. “I could say the same.”

Aelin leaned against the table, smiling. “Do tell me what it is you do for a living. Wait—let me guess. Sly business man. Lawyer? Oh, tax collector!”

Another, louder laugh left Rowan’s lips. “I’m a child psychologist.”

Aelin’s jaw dropped. “Damn, okay.”

He grinned. “You’re what, a fashion designer? A housewife?”

Aelin rolled her eyes. “I work at a pharmacy.”

Rowan shook his head in disbelief, smiling widely. Silence settled over the pair, but it wasn’t an uncomfortable pause—merely a moment to take in each other after so long. Aelin remembered arguing with the boy this man had once been over schoolwork, over sports, over absolutely nothing.

“Gods, tell me you’re not with that asshole anymore,” Rowan said, breaking the quiet.

Aelin blinked, then felt her lips unconsciously stretch into a another smile. “No, I’m not.”

Rowan hmmed noncommittalaly. “You two were never a good match.”

He was the first person who hadn’t offered her condolences like it was some kind of recent tragedy, and for that Aelin felt her smile turn soft. “Remind me why we hated each other again?”

A breathy laugh. “I believe that was thanks to the time you scraped up the side of my car trying to park on the very first day of junior year.”

“We were sixteen! No one could drive well at that age.” Aelin was grinning.

Rowan crossed his arms. “Or perhaps the time you literally tased me? With a fucking taser?”

Aelin let out a startled laugh. She’d completely forgotten about that. One of the football boys had hosted a party while his parents were out of town, and his mom was a cop so he brought out her taser for a game of whoever can hold onto this $20 while being tased in the hand gets to keep it. Gods, high school had been quite the experience.

“That was part of the game! You took the risk, and you lost; I can’t be blamed for that. Besides, I happen to remember you making out with my boyfriend on one occasion.”

Rowan groaned in faux embarrassment, a hand running though his short locks. “Lorcan dared us to. Besides, you’d already broken up with Dorian at that point, so it didn’t really count.”

Aelin’s face started to ache as she realized just how widely her smile was stretched. “That definitely still counts, but fine, let me think of some other instance you were an asshole to me. I’m sure there were plenty.”

Rowan shook his head, eyes dancing with mirth, and opened his mouth to make a retort—but someone else beat him to it.

“Aelin! I was so happy to spot you here. How have you been?”

Of course, it was Chaol, leering over at her in a suit far too sophisticated for the occasion.

Aelin felt a wave of calm wash over her as she realized that as much as she didn’t want to have a civil conversation with Chaol, she wanted him to have the upper hand even less.

“Chaol, my gods! I’ve been great; I take it you have been as well judging by the beautiful woman on your arm?”

The woman in question blushed, and Aelin wondered what exactly she knew about her.

Chaol grinned and held up the woman’s hand—and the ring perched on her fourth finger—like some kind of prize. “This is Yrene, my fiancée. Yrene, meet Aelin and… Ronan?”

“Rowan,” Rowan correctly coolly, then glanced at Yrene. “It’s a pleasure.”

Chaol nodded dismissively and turned back to Aelin. “Is that a new haircut?”

It had been a solid six years since she’d dated the man, and at least three since they’d crossed paths. “Yes, it is.”

“And how are you getting on with that Fenrys fellow? Still happy?”

The last time Aelin had seen Chaol had been at the grocery story—fucking small towns—with her boyfriend at the time. He hadn’t lasted more than a month.

“No.”

A flicker of glee crossed Chaol’s features, and Aelin writhed internally.

“Much to my benefit, that is,” Rowan interjected. Aelin had nearly forgotten he was still standing with them. “For now I have her all to myself.”

What?

Chaol blinked, dumbfounded. “You two are together?”

Rowan shrugged. “We reconnected a couple years ago and hit it off—better than we ever had in high school,” he added.

Aelin had just enough self-control to paste a smile on her lips. Now understanding what Rowan was doing for, she took his hand casually.

Rowan’s hand envoloped Aelin’s, and his rough calluses scraped against her palm. It took restraint not to shudder, and Chaol be damned, Aelin was no longer paying attention to the conversation. Her world focused in on the warm hand interlaced with her own.

Less interested, probably now that he’d realized he didn’t have much to hang over her head, Chaol said a farewell and retreated with the fiancée who hadn’t spoken a single word. Aelin watched them leave gratefully.

Rowan slipped his hand out of Aelin’s and she almost objected before realizing herself.

“Thank you, Rowan,” Aelin said softly.

Her gaze drifted over to him and snagged on his piercing green eyes.

Rowan stared back at her for a moment. “No problem.”

Aelin shook her head. “It wasn’t no problem. That was very kind of you.”

Rowan shook his head, but said nothing more about the endeavor. “How long are you in town?”

“A whole week. I wanted to stay with my parents for a bit.”

“And I don’t suppose while you’re here you want to grab coffee together? I still need an example of the atrocities you claim I put you through, after all.”

Aelin’s expression turned fiendish. “Does tomorrow work?”

Pairing: Seventeen Mingyu x Reader

Genre: Angst/Steamy

The carpet in your apartment building was disgusting. Covered in dirt (at least you hoped that's what the stains were) and always kind of moist, you avoided contact with it at all costs. But now, you were sitting on it. Slumped against the wall behind you with your head in your hands, you were sitting on the world's dirtiest carpet and crying.

It had been approximately two hours since you had contacted your building's repair man, and an hour since you talked to anyone in management. You had locked yourself out and were completely exhausted. All you wanted was to lay down and maybe binge watch your favorite drama. You hadn't signed up for enrichment time outside of your enclosure today.

Cringing as the idea came across your mind, you looked helplessly down at your phone. It would be just so easy to text your ex-boyfriend. The two of you had never met up to exchange each other's things, so he still had your key.

Taking a deep breath and blowing it out slowly, you lifted up your phone and scrutinized the battery life. It was running below 10% at this point, so if you were going to do it, you needed to suck it up. Scrolling almost to the bottom of your saved text messages, you found Mingyu's name and tapped.

you busy?

That was safe, right? You didn't want to make him worry and you certainly didn't want to inconvenience him. You had done enough of that in your past relationship.

You weren't surprised when you saw typing bubbles appear before you had even locked your phone. Of course, he was going to be hyper available during your crisis.

Depends. What's up?

What a terrible non-response.

i was wondering if you could stop by and drop off my key?

Want me to bring the rest of your stuff?

not if it's not already with you...

"Why would it already be with him?" you muttered. "Please use your one active brain cell before you hit send again."

i just really need my key

Contrary to what you may believe, I have no plans to break into your apartment. Can I drop it off at the end of the week?

You groaned, leaning back and lightly bonking your head repeatedly on the wall behind you.

Resisting the urge to reply with "that's fine" and leave your fate in the hands of your apartment complex, you quickly typed out a message.

i locked myself out of my apartment.

Give me 10 minutes.

Breathing a momentary sigh of relief, you commended yourself. Texting Mingyu had not been easy, but it was a necessary evil for your own mental well-being. Surely you could play nice for approximately 45 seconds while he handed you your key and walked back down the stairs. You had 45 seconds worth of gratitude in your system, didn't you?

Closing your eyes, you tried not to think too hard about seeing him again. Naturally, that had the opposite effect, and you began dragging out memories that you hadn't touched in weeks. Your relationship had started out innocently enough. You had been an English tutor for the entertainment company that Mingyu was signed to and tutored him weekly. After spending hours upon hours with each other, a natural closeness formed between the two of you. While yes, you had been close to all of the artists in one way or another, something with him was different. It was something warmer, something more incendiary.

You found yourself actually paying attention to how you dressed or how you styled your hair. Starting to become overly interested in your personal appearance likely should have been a red flag. You knew better than to start anything with an idol.

Against your better judgement, your sessions quickly turned into flirting for hours. Mingyu was incredibly smart, so it wasn't a surprise when he was ahead in his English lessons. With the spare time, you got to know each other. Finally, one day he asked you out for dinner.

With time, the two of you had become inseparable. That was until the company found out about the burgeoning relationship. It only took days for them to threaten Mingyu until he said he couldn't see you anymore. It came as no surprise that a few weeks later, they had alienated you so entirely that you put in your notice.

"Stupid," you muttered to yourself. "How could you have been so stupid."

"People forget their keys all the time, Y/N," you heard a familiar voice say above you. "Do you know how often I lock myself out of places?"

"But you have twelve other people to rely on," you sighed, opening your eyes. "And I have...well, you."

Mingyu looked down, a sad smile playing over his lips. God, why was he allowed to look so good? You could tell he had showered only minutes ago judging by his damp hair. He had thrown on a pair of fitted joggers and a t-shirt. It should be against the law to make casual wear look so expensive just by being hot.

Using the wall as leverage, you pulled yourself up to stand. "Thanks for doing this. I didn't mean to disrupt your whole afternoon."

"Don't" he said softly, shaking his head. "Doesn't matter what happens...if you call me, I will always answer."

He dug around in his pocket, producing the pink Hello Kitty key you gave him ages ago. It looked so small in the palm of his hand.

"Well anyhow," you said quietly, taking it. "Thanks."

He nodded, signaling the end of the conversation. You went to turn away from him but paused. He wasn't moving.

"Y/N, this whole thing" he motioned between the two of you. "When did this happen?"

"What do you mean?"

"When did we become strangers?" he sighed. "Because honestly it is hurts so bad."

An unknown feeling of annoyance bubbled up to the surface. "Mingyu, you broke up with me."

"You had to have known that it wasn't really me," he whispered, looking away. "I didn't have much of a choice at the time."

"Whether you did or not, we knew it wasn't going to work out in the long run."

"Don't say that!" he snapped. "I loved you...I still love you."

"Mingyu," you said quietly, deflated by his reaction. "You have millions of people out there wanting you. You're an idol. If your company discourages you dating noncelebrities, that is what it is."

"I don't want them. I want you," he said hoarsely. Stepping closer, he took your face in his hands.

You could feel tears beginning to gather at your lash line. "Mingyu-"

"Let me talk to them. The management team and everyone above and in between. Let me fight for us like I was too scared to do before," he whispered.

You tried to shake your head, but your face remained caught. Reaching up and placing your hands atop his, you sighed. "I wish it were that easy."

"It's not easy at all" he said, furrowing his brows. His eyes searched yours. "Nothing about love is easy. Nothing worth fighting for is easy."

"Mingyu," you whimpered, tears starting to fall. "I just wanted my key..."

"Yeah, well," he breathed. "You're getting more than you wanted for once."

Before you could clock his advancement, Mingyu's lips were on yours. You felt your tears falling even faster as you reached to grasp the fabric of his shirt. Because of you, the kisses were much wetter than normal, but it didn't stop his urgent need. He was manic with his movements; afraid you may slip away at any point. After every labored breath, his lips found yours again and again. Biting, licking, groaning against your mouth, you thought you would simply unravel in the dingy hallway.

Eventually the two of you had to take a break, all of the emotion was just too much. His hands sliding from your face and resting on your hips, he looked down at you, his expression hopeful.

"Why don't you come inside?" you asked nervously, unsure of what would happen moving forward. "We can talk."

"Sure," Mingyu nodded, a genuine smile spreading across his lips. "I'd like that very much."

Secret Santa 2023!

Hello hello -

Well, it's the 11th hour on xmas eve (possibly literally, depending on your time zone), but I'm here, very technically on time! :P

My giftee for the @super-secret-conspiracy secret santa event was @kitsunefaux, who gave me a pretty wide-open request for Ryou and/or Bakura by preference, with a few shipping options. Tendershipping was first on that list, so here we are. I hope you enjoy me subjecting poor sweet Bakura to the joy of winter weather for your amusement. ;)

“Come on!”

“No.” There was a pause. “Oh, fuck right off with the pouting.”

“Is it working, though?”

“...No.”

“Pleeeeeeaaaaase? It’s so nice out!”

“Not it’s not, it’s fucking cold.” Another pause. A judgemental look down. “That’s the only reason you even got me into this monstrosity. It ends there.”

“Except it doesn’t. People need to see!”

“Lies.” A pause, then a deep, soul weary sigh.

“I’ll get your scarf!” A beaming smile.

“....I hate you so much.”

Even though Halloween was clearly the superior holiday, Ryou always appreciated a nice fresh snow right before the winter holidays. And he was rapidly discovering that it was all twice as entertaining when you have a boyfriend with no concept at all of winter to lovingly torture with it all.

He still couldn’t quite believe he’d managed to convince Bakura into coordinating ugly christmas sweaters for the day. It was good to know just how far Bakura was willing to go in the quest for winter warmth; that would probably come in handy someday. But for now, he‘d take his small victory. Here they were, all bundled up – Bakura in a scarf and a hat and mittens, goodness it was only barely below freezing, what were they going to do when it got properly cold – and out to enjoy the lovely winter’s day.

Despite his earlier grumbling, Ryou could tell that Bakura was enjoying himself. Bakura’s gaze was darting around, eyes suspiciously wide and sparkly for a man who was supposed to be annoyed. A thick fog had rolled through the day before, leaving a thick layer of hoarfrost clinging to every available surface in its wake. The frost glittered now against the bright blue sky, turning the world to crystal. Ryou tucked his hands around Bakura’s arm and leaned into his side.

“See, it’s not so bad, is it? It’s beautiful out here.”

“I admit nothing.” Bakura glanced over at Ryou with what was probably supposed to be a stern look, but he didn’t quite manage to hide a tiny grin.

Ryou couldn’t help but roll his eyes a bit at that, though he gamely tried to hide it. “Of course you don’t.” He smiled. “Fine then. Just enjoy the scenery, you grouch. I should have found you a grinch sweater to match the sparkling holiday cheer.”

“A tribute to the best thief of the holidays? I’d take it.” Bakura made no effort at all to hide his smirk this time.

Ryou now rolled his eyes quite a lot, and enjoyed Bakura’s laugher at his side. They fell into silence as they walked down the path together, just enjoying the fresh winter air and sparkling frost for a while. Suddenly, Ryou tugged on Bakura’s arm.

“Oh, look!” He pointed up the path. “It looks like someone’s been flooding a little ice patch. Let’s go slide around a bit!”

Bakura went stiff beside him. “Not a chance.”

“Oh, but it’ll be fun.”

“Nope.” Bakura planted his feet. “It’s bad enough walking in snow, there’s no way you’re getting me sliding around like an idiot. You’re on your own.”

“Even if moving around a bit more would help you stay warm?”

Bakura squeezed his arm to his side, tugging Ryou’s hands more firmly into his side in the process, and smiled. “You’re doing a good enough job of that already, thanks.”

“I see.” Ryou gave Bakura’s arm a squeeze and considered his options for a moment before smiling up at Bakura with an exaggeratedly angelic look.

“Well, I’m glad to be of service and all, but your heater needs a break.” Fast as a viper, he snatched the hat off of Bakura’s head and bolted towards the ice, gliding smoothly across it to hop into the snow on the other side. “Your precious warmth is right here whenever you’d like it.”

“What the fuck!”

Ryou burst out laughing. Bakura looked so deeply offended.

“Come and get it!” Ryou grinned and shook the hat as though trying to tempt a bull. “Surely the greatest thief of the last few millennia can steal back a hat? All that’s in the way is a teeny tiny patch of i-” The next words were cut off by a burst of hysterical laugher. “What was that?!”

Bakura looked up from the ground, where he’d splayed himself out the moment he set foot on the ice. “Shut your f-AH!”

Ryou had to bend right over he was laughing so hard. Bakura kept trying to get to his feet, but he couldn’t seem to manage more than half a second of traction before ending right back on the ground in a heap of awkward limbs. Eventually, he lay still on the ice, despondently spread-eagle, and turned pleading eyes on Ryou. That was about as close to a plea for help as he was ever likely to give, and Ryou managed to calm himself down enough to take pity on the poor man.

“Ok, ok, let me show you how it’s don- eep!”

Ryou blinked up at the sky, which was suddenly straight ahead. He lay on the ground for a few seconds of stunned silence before turning his head to look at Bakura, who was lying still next to him, stunned expression on his face. They stared at each other for a moment, before bursting into laughter again.

“It serves you right! Justice!” Bakura punched a fist at the sky, but wisely didn’t try to get up again.

“Yes yes, me and my big mouth.” Ryou reached over to stuff the hat back on Bakura’s head. “I think that’s our sign to head home and warm up.”

“About time. Let’s get the hell out of here.”

Ryou shimmied awkwardly off the ice, dragging Bakura along in his wake as best as he could. It wasn’t graceful, but they got there. They always did.

Ryou returned to the couch with hot chocolates in hand, and gratefully sank into Bakura’s side when he held the blanket open for him.

“Here. Chocolate mint for me, and a dash of chili pepper for you. Only the best. Better?”

“Yeah. Better.” Bakura shifted to help Ryou settle in, and pressed a kiss to his temple. “Remember this the next time you think it’s a good idea to go outside and freeze our asses off. We can skip straight to the good stuff next time.”

“Oh, but you had a fun. I saw how you were staring at all the frost. Wasn’t it beautiful?”

“And cold.”

“Well yes, that’s how frost works.” Ryou took a sip of his drink with a happy sigh. “But it was a good day.” Ryou smiled up at Bakura, warm and content.

“Yeah. A good day.” Bakura leaned his head over Ryou’s, and they let the warmth sink in.

More than anything, I feel like a lot of your focus right now will be on career and finances. It's definitely possible that with this five of pentacles, you have not had a recent or past history with stable income or a stable career.

But, I do see that changing because I feel like you are ready to try something new or there will be new opportunities coming in for you that involves some element of risk. The risk can be that it's a new job or a new field or involves a relocation. It's definitely going to be a situation that pulls you out of your comfort zone.

I do think that even though there's an element of risk involved, if you are offered something, I don't see anything shady about the opportunity. I also feel like if you have weighed all of the information and decide to go for it, then you should trust that.

It seems to me that there is a time of abundance coming for you. For some of you it could have even been that you were creatively blocked for a time or you were doing projects but nothing was really panning out. Because there is an element of creativity here. Granted, it's also abundance but there is inspiration or creativity for a spark here. There's some excitement about a new beginning. Definitely opportunity to travel or relocate for some of you. I see you as going from instability to more financial independence. And it feels like a very fresh start. So something new will be coming in.

There might be some issues around time. You might have a short amount of time to make a decision or you feel pressured to do something quickly. It could be that you need money so you need to decide on something fast.

Whatever it is, it does seem like it's time for a change, it's time for more stability, it's time for you to feel confident and excited again about something that you're doing. I think it's a good time to use any of your creative abilities, so if there's a job out there that acknowledges your creative talents.

I'm really feeling the pressure of time here, but I also have cards that indicate you should feel confident about this change, that it's a change for the better, that it's a change that's good for your career and finances. That the information as you look at it should be correct or make sure to weigh all of the information that you have available and go with that. Or it could just be in general that you do have an opportunity that comes to you that will involve careers stability or income, but you have to make the choice in a short amount of time if you want to go with it or not.

If that's the case, I look at this justice card that was at the back of the deck and I want to tell you to make sure you weigh all the information and choices carefully. A risk is good in the sense that starting something new can be a risk for you, but you don't want to jump into something that won't make you happy.

Still, as long as you take that into consideration, even if there's an element of the unknown, I still see this as leading toward abundance in terms of material. Will it make you happy? That kind of depends on you. You know if you go into a situation with a pessimistic or cynical attitude, you might attract exactly what you don't want to happen. But if you go into a situation and you remain optimistic that it can work out for the better or you can always change this and that and have flexibility to make it what you want, then of course any opportunity can be turned into something that can make you happy.

It does feel like it's been a bit of a long road in terms of career. With the 9 of Wands at the back and the two of ones behind it, it's like okay well you've been at this for a long time and it's been difficult or discouraging or you've just had to push through. But with the two of wands behind it it again feels like there's a new pathway or even a couple of pathways that will be opening up to you that lead to something a bit more easy. And it is especially geared toward finances and career. Which I already felt before I even pulled that romantic Oracle card. I was actually going to use those as a way to tell you what could be happening with your love life as well but instead finances and career card came out lol. So I think rather than being focused on anything with relationships at this time, there's a real focus on your career and money.

I do see confidence though. So either this opportunity will make you feel more confident because it will provide you with stability you haven't had in a while or it's that you feel more confident and now you are attracting this awesome opportunity for yourself. Don't let the time crunch kind of pressure you into making a decision. But there are a couple of cards that really indicate okay it's time for this to happen now. Even the justice card can be looked at as divine timing. So this opportunity is probably coming to you for a reason. Or multiple opportunities. But remember you always have free will, you can do whatever you want. You might have issues with making decisions because I'm seeing the devil at the back of the deck. So a couple of conditions as I said could be that you have a tough time making decisions in general or you might rush into making decisions without weighing out all of the information, so just take whatever resonates if it resonates. I always think that if something feels rushed or if someone is rushing you, that could be a red flag. But, you also can't sit and do nothing for a long period of time and expect something to change.

So, if you want more stability in career and money, you're going to have to take some risks, you're going to have to go into it with confidence, and you're going to have to be aware of anything regarding time pressure.

And it also indicates to me that this opportunity if it hasn't already hit you is coming soon and that's why the clock is like now now now now.

I read Aditi as abundance as well as creativity. She reminds me of the empress. And it could also speak to you being a creative person or this being a creative job in some sense.

Once you get past the decision part of this I do see you as being pretty excited about it and feeling really good about yourself or even having more confidence because somebody wants you to work for them. And it feels like besides this happening quickly or you needing to make a quick decision, that you would start pretty quickly relative to an offer or have to move pretty quickly after this.

Let me just flip the card for will this make you happy or you know something to do with time after you accept an offer or whatever is happening.

So I asked if they take this offer or say yes to whatever, how will they feel 3 months from now about it?

I got strength, chariot, hanged man, three of pentacles.

So that definitely indicates momentum in career, collaboration with other people, a lot of determination, and going with the flow.

I'm seeing it as good. It feels very career focused. You seem very determined. I also see again with the hanged man that it's all about perspective. If you go in with an optimistic attitude about the job and the people and feeling confident in yourself to do whatever task it is, I don't see any issues. And with three majors coming out, there is some element of this could be a destiny thing that puts you on a path toward an important goal. I also see timing of cancer season to Leo season. I mean Pisces is showing up so maybe something in Pisces will also be happening during that time. So maybe from end of June to end of August, you can expect this opportunity or even expect the transition into whatever after you've taken the offer.

And then for those of you who read this at a different time, perhaps Pisces season will be of relevance to you as well. Or you might encounter someone who is a Leo, Cancer, or Pisces or those could be some of your big three.

Personally, I also see this as something you've been trying to manifest. What I've learned is that manifestations don't always come in a perfect package, but they will come. And your intuition and free will is what determines whether you take it or not or what you make of it.

So, you definitely want to go in with a sense of courage, of determination, keep them momentum going, be ready for a collaboration, go with the flow, and keep your perspective on the higher end of the spectrum. Don't put any doubts in your head, just kind of push through it. Go with it. Don't look back.

And again, I see you as working with someone on this project or within this new job. I know that's obvious but I feel like somebody closer to you or even two people will be closer to you with this job or project. Not necessarily a romantic person because I don't see that, but you could make new friends pretty quickly. Especially a Leo I guess. And that Pisces energy with the hanged man might also be speaking to again, this being more of a creative collaboration or project. Especially one that could be published online or have something to do with being online or some sense of public recognition for the project. Something that could really push your career forward. Either way, I definitely see this as a really big and important advancement when it comes to your career whatever it is.

So, there are a couple of messages coming through. There's definitely a spiritual message in terms of remembering where you came from as well as remembering to be humble and act with humility. This might also not be a time to focus on the bigger picture, but to reflect on other things happening in your life. It could be daily tasks or it could be the relationships in your life.

There is a sense of being who you are and recognizing that that version of yourself is lovable. There's also a message of allowing others to provide support. It could be that maybe you're trying to take on a lot by yourself, so you might in work or relationships need to make sure that everything is going both ways. Like you want to be there for your friend and you also want a friend who's going to be there for you. So if you felt like you have been neglecting certain relationships, now would be a good time to check in with them or vice versa. The queen of pentacles can certainly be somebody who builds a lot of things on her own. But I see with this next to two of cups as not always doing it on your own but building it with other people who are close to you. And when you have a decision to make, you also have people you can rely on for support and advice.

I do see that probably you have spent some time recently reflecting. Specifically about life or spiritual progress or the state of relationships. I see you also receiving some type of information in the near future. I wonder if it will be an offer to help you with something or it's going to be an important conversation that you have with someone.

Mostly I see you going through some type of spiritual or energetic transformation. I'm kind of getting hermit vibes I guess. Chop wood as a card is actually about humility and paying attention to the smaller tasks in life as opposed to focusing on the big dreams at this time. But when you look at it, it can also be about cleaning up details in your life. Maybe focusing on things that you have neglected for some reason. Or while you're waiting on something to do with the bigger picture, this is a good time to look at the relationships in your life or what needs to be cleaned up.

Almost like there could be some spiritual loose ends. There's a lot of thinking going on. There's a lot of inner reflection. There's a lot of emphasis on being yourself as you are and that drawing the people to you that you want as well as work opportunities.

Mostly I want to say this is about being true to yourself and expressing that.

I feel like when you do that, and you also remain humble, you will attract the right people to you if that's something that you are worried about. Because maybe you have felt lonely or maybe you have felt doubtful about relationships, whether that's platonic or romantic lately. Maybe feeling like you're unworthy.

But I feel like that's more in your head. You are a cool person, you deserve to be loved, you deserve equal and respectful relationships and what you are heard but you also are a person that allows the other person to be heard and loved.

You might feel kind of stuck in between something right now. But maybe that's you trying to figure out something and waiting for an answer. But just like with the you deserve love and the eight of Wands, it gives me the sense of information will be coming to you very quickly. Maybe this will answer some of your questions about a person or a situation.

It's interesting that the inner beauty card and the you deserve love are both kind of pointing in the forward direction. Ascension is also about going up or moving forward. So there's a strong sense of ascension here or spiritual elevation or energetic elevation.

Ironically, if you watch Naruto, you know that to gain amaterasu, you have to basically kill your closest friend lol.

Well that's not really funny but considering the cards that are coming up, there is actually an element of friendship appearing here or relationships. More platonic or acquaintance than romantic.

I guess it could even be to let you know that there could be people coming into your life soon. Or expect to transformation with relationships, whether that includes a deep talk about feelings or something or asking them for support and receiving it.

For me, so far spiritual ascension and friendships will be really relevant to you at this time.

I think for this pile I want to clarify exactly what it's talking about though.

Okay for sure, it does seem like that there is definitely a decision happening. It could be that you received some type of communication, and you're being asked to make a decision. It could also be about learning to follow your intuition here too.

And two of cups is clarified by three of cups so clearly this is about friendships like we already determined. It could be something as simple as deciding on an invitation to hang out with some friends or in general just some thinking about relationships and friendships. And communication with those friends.

The queen of pentacles is clarified by emperor, so it does give off career vibes or taking control or creating foundations or building something up.

Then we have eight of Wands clarified by the lovers. So this is very similar to the page of swords thing in that this combination can mean the following: information that's coming in very quickly, especially if it happens during Gemini season; it can be about a choice that you'll have to make about some type of information you receive or some type of message; it can also be that there is a special relationship that will be coming into your life very quickly. In particular, you could be meeting them through other friends or even through work friends or through work.

So, what I can say for sure after looking at that is kind of what I already pointed out. There is a lot of emphasis now about communication and relationships. Whether it's current relationships that you already have and having some type of discussions about feelings or just how important those relationships are to you now if there people you can lean on. If they are people who are telling you you know you deserve the best and you deserve love. And also that it's a reciprocal type of relationship.

If that's not the case, for sure this could mean that you might be meeting some people very soon. People through work or meeting important people through the friend and network you already have.

Because I see you building something. I see you building relationships. I see communication being a big part of that.

I really feel like you are solidifying something here. So I would really expect that relationships you already have are going to be getting stronger. And I also think that there could be relationships coming in very soon that will be long lasting. Right now it's coming across as platonic, but with the lovers here, there is the potential for some of these to turn romantic or just to let you know that these people could be soulmate level friends.

But I also want to say again that there is a message of being true to yourself and showing that and that probably attracting the right people to you. I also want to say it's a very important to remain humble. I don't know what specifically that is about. If it's about being authentic and yourself as opposed to putting on a mask and trying to impress people. I just know that I want to say that you are lovable and will attract the right people the way you are. You don't have to put on any type of act.

I also feel like it's a good time to open yourself up to people and be vulnerable, talk to them, and rely on other people for support.

There does seem to be some thinking or debating or deciding around all of this. So there could be some level of decision making or conversation or reflection that is happening as well. But overall, whatever it is seems to be at the point of wanting to elevate you. If it's elevating your thought process by humbling yourself more or coming more into line with the authentic version of you or elevating your relationships.

My sense is that thinking about it is maybe a block in some way. As in like telling yourself that you keep attracting the wrong people or is it something about you that's attracting these people or situations that you see as negative or not mutual. And I think it's trying to simplify the way you think and just say, as long as you are yourself. That's all you have to worry about. Don't overthink it.

Along the way, you might have to cut cords as you grow and maybe that's something you think about like was it right to let go of this person or am I being too harsh.

I also see some resemblance to pile one in that I thought they would pretty quickly have to make a decision about something.

There is some element of that here as in something quickly being given to you in terms of information and perhaps there's a decision around that that you have to make. But that seems small in comparison to the message about your relationships, having open communication, and the potential for more solid relationships coming to you in a very quick time.

It feels a little mixed and sporadic to me but that's probably because there are multiple layers to whatever this thing is that's happening. You're being elevated, you have new relationships coming in, or there's reflection about current relationships and how to make them stronger. Well you can make them stronger by being yourself and being open with communication when necessary and relying on other people.

Also I got nosy and clarified your higher power card and got 10 of cups, six of cups, two of Wands. So I feel like this is building up your soul family. Some of them are differently soulmates. There's a lot of emphasis on family here and relationships. And there's an emphasis on a new start or a new pathways that would lead you toward these people or expect a new path with the relationships you already have or even having to make decisions around current relationships. Like what direction are we headed with this and do I envision happiness.

For some of you, a specific message might be related to building a family. Or children. For some of you, I feel like that might be a path you're headed down is guess what you're going to have children or start building a family or you're thinking about that and need to have that conversation with a partner or if you don't want a partner but you want to have kids, leaning on friends for support.

It's normal. I think you're thinking about the future. You're thinking about relationships. You're thinking about long-lasting, long-term stability around relationships. I feel like those relationships will be elevated, I feel like you're going to feel better about yourself and feel more comfortable being yourself in the near future. But I really see you contemplating things around relationships and progress and stability.

I hope that generally can kind of assist you in knowing that it's a good time to focus on the relationships in your life and what you want and what it will take to make them last or having hope that new relationships will come in that are going to last a lot longer than previous ones. But you have to stay true to yourself and keep humble. I don't know who needs to hear that about keep humble and why that could be important in relationships but that's a message that is there for some of you. Personally, I think that's more about authenticity. Don't try to be anything but yourself and these people will come.

Some similar cards coming out pile 2.

So, there is definitely some momentum around a goal. I feel like you are strategizing or trying to come up with a plan for the future. It looks to me like it's more pointed toward study or career. In fact all of the piles have been more geared toward career. Pile 2 had that additional level of relationships being significant and creating stronger foundations with relationships.

There could be some aspect that's unknown to you. Just like with pile too and I said potentially somebody could be coming in to assist you, there is an element of that message here as well with this seven of swords. It's clarified by three of Wands and Queen of pentacles. So three of Wands is definitely progress but it can be about waiting for somebody to come in and assist you, queen of pentacles is building something or work-related or some type of nurturing relationship.

So, it's definitely either about gathering resources toward a future goal or it's there's a level of something that's hidden still. With how you're going to get to a certain point regarding a career or financial goal. If it's the hidden aspect, I think it just means that there's somebody who will come in to help you. Otherwise it's simply about gathering the resources necessary to keep moving forward on this journey. To keep the momentum up like with the chariot. Nine of cups, emotional satisfaction or goals usually. So I just see this as progress and forward momentum toward career things and then another component of perhaps someone unexpectedly coming into help you or offer advice about this or even after you start a new job or whatever, then you might unexpectedly meet somebody who's going to help you with something. It could be a friend or a co-worker. But that's a possibility for sure.

Back of deck with emperor and four of wands again indicates building a strong foundation. It could be building a strong foundation with family members or creating a stronger home life. But essentially there's something here that is being built up and solidified. If you have a question of okay how is this going to happen, perhaps it's a person that's going to come into assist you.

I would also expect there to be happiness with the four of Wands. If you're not used to being regularly emotionally stable in a positive way like being happy or joyful, I think this will assist you with that.

Higher power also indicates that there's a bit of divine organizing happening here. Like the universe does seem to be conspiring to put you in a forward direction. I also see you know things in your life being elevated, and again it seems to be focused on career but it could be career and relationships. And creating more stability around those areas.

We also have cards that literally say creation, balance, shadow.

So, there is some type of abundance or something being created or built here. There's also achieving some type of balance which I think corresponds to that foundation as well as possibly balancing feminine and masculine energies. I have yang at the back of the deck. Typically that's the action oriented energy. The emperor is also action oriented.

So there could be some balance that's working out in terms of when to receive and wait and when to take action. I'm seeing a lot more taking action happening, but then I'm seeing cards that make me think of feminine and creation energies.

In terms of romance, the cards that are popping up are getting to know each other. And playfulness.

So, I'm seeing remaining more casual or light in relationships and taking the time to get to know one another or to have open communication. It also talks about revealing your innermost cells to each other can result in deepened bonds. So again there's something that's being built here.

You could also be going through a phase where more solid relationships are going to be created as long as you remain true to yourself. Whether you're calling them in or it's deepening bonds that you already have.

It could even be that besides friendships and incoming relationships, deepening bonds with family at this time as well.

Going back to the seven of swords which can be something that's hidden. The shadow card in this book says the following: goddess of destruction kali calls for you to face your shadow self - things lurking underneath may be disrupting what you're trying to achieve on the surface. Facing those aspects of yourself is the only way forward. Kali helps you embrace them so you can truly be free from fear.

So, the seven of swords could be representing self-sabotage for some of you. Like a fear of moving forward or a fear of leaning on other people for support.

It could even be you know a fear of getting to know someone since we're talking about deeper bonds and opening up.

I think you want to or want something to happen but there's like a hesitation. You see it happening, you want it, but there's like a hidden issue going on that has to be worked through.

So the issues could be about opening up, it could be about taking things too seriously, it could be about being afraid to ask for help or rely on others and thinking you have to do everything on your own. It could just be a fear of the unknown and change. I mean I still sense excitement but even if we're excited about a change, we can have some hesitations. You'll have to look into yourself and see where those hesitations lie. I'm getting more of like with the previous pile this could potentially be about opening up or leaning on others. Sometimes when I look at the seven of swords I associate it with someone who feels like they need to do everything on their own. Whether that's a perfectionist issue or just a trust issue.

So, I would be looking at doing whatever you can to make you feel like you can rely on other people or whatever it takes to create a more concrete bond that you can rely upon. Maybe that's the area of shadow work you need to do or maybe that's a situation that's been coming up for you.

For some of you since the shadow is sitting next to the creation card. Which creation came up for pile one, this could be about fear around the start of something new. Creation is definitely that new energy of something beginning and it's sitting next to shadow. So what's getting in the way of creating something new.

And balance which also came out for pile one, makes me think of someone having to balance the masculine and feminine or balance the light and shadow.

Something about that lack of balance could be resulting in misplaced fear or sabotaging.

I guess I just see someone as looking for stability but then like either being afraid of having that or being too cozy where they are. And that six of cups energy is coming in with the playfulness at the back of the deck. It says to recapture romance, allow your inner youthful spirit of fun to shine. Which like I said makes me think of six of cups or full. So being a bit more open-minded or optimistic. Being open to change or communication or strengthening bonds and being vulnerable or leaning on other people.

Or even just feeling like you can show your inner self or your sensitive side. Some of you might be putting out a really tough exterior of having everything under control or not needing help. But I feel like the cards would be pushing you more toward exposing that side of yourself to people even if you're scared of it. And you don't have to apply it to relationships, this can be about any new situation that's coming into your life where it's scary to feel exposed in this way because it's new.

So really just do whatever feels right for you in terms of creating stability in all areas of your life. Or it could even be that some things are a bit too rigid and there needs to be a bit more of a balance in terms of flexibility. You know if you've built up certain defenses and now it's time to let them down because that period of self-preservation is over.

This creation card says goddess of creation nuwa is signaling to use the raw material of your life to create something meaningful - perhaps to find your very purpose

So more of that four of Wands emperor message about creating something meaningful or building something. So you could be in the process of building your future or your career or even relationships.

So whatever it is that's new for you, it's time to put energy into creating strong foundations around that. Which seems to me to be a lot about being able to open up and lean on other people.

- now if you do decide to get in, he’d be so excited ready to show you any cool things he could do under water

- eventually the other boys get sick of the water and get out saying something about feeling like a prune

- activity: drive in movie theater!

- kai is so bf!! the car you take is a borrowed suv and kai decorated it so aesthetically pleasing with plushies, blankets and pillows everywhere (100% looked on pinterest for inspo)

- you guys brought your own snacks and drinks and he somehow managed to hide a mini cooler in the seats????

- the movie you guys chose to watch was a horror movie so every jumpscare had kai hiding behind you

- “kai why did you choose a scary movie if you don’t like them?” “it was the only movie that looked interesting! i didn’t think it’d scare me this bad!”

- the suv is so comfortable you both actually end up falling asleep during the movie, only waking up to the sounds of the other cars starting up to leave

- “i can’t believe we slept through the movie” “i know, we should just have a sleep over in the back of the car”, that’s when you both look at eachother

- the next morning, you wake up to the rest of txt’s members knocking on the windows of the car interrogating you both as to why you fell asleep in the suv

Spend this Night with Me! (working title) WIP Preview!

You know when you feel like sharing a part of your wip with the world to show that you are indeed writing? Well I got that feeling now! And here’s a preview of the next chapter in The Iron Duck of Steel: The Gizmoduck Movie, Part I!!

I guess I wanna share this now since it’s the first scene I’ve ever written that features the Darkwing Duck trio (Drake, Gosalyn, and Launchpad) where they interact with one another! Also Alistair Boorswan is there too!

Anyway this scene is a work in progress, hasn’t even been beta read, so it’s due to change. You know how the process works, but for now. Enjoy

St. Canard was a city with many fine establishments ranging from well-known chains to local restaurants that were well-known to the citizens of the large city. One of which was a small café that was about ten-to-twenty-minute drive from the Audobon Bridge (depending on traffic, of course), where the Mallards had decided to have their lunch today.

Gosalyn entered the restaurant immediately scanning the area. Behind the young duck was her father who entered shortly after she did.

“Nice place you picked out, Gos.” Drake complimented as he looked around the establishment and sniffed the air. “What do you recommend?”

Gosalyn was only half-paying attention to Drake for she was in the zone for her search, which reached its thrilling conclusion when she spotted her target.

“Uh, they got great food here. Come on!” Gosalyn answered as she grabbed Drake’s wrist and lead the older duck away from the greeter.

“Shouldn’t we-?”

“Oh don’t worry about that. This is one of those places that lets you sit anywhere you want.”

“Well do you think maybe we can get a booth? Afterall we are expecting-”

“Drake!” A very familiar and British sounding voice caught the attention of the mallard.

“Alistair Boorswan?!”

“Well what do you know!?” Gosalyn said acting surprised at the situation at hand. “Famed film director Alistair Boorswan and St. Canard’s most wanted actor Drake Mallard in the same location?”

Drake looked down at Gosalyn in suspicion but before he could say anything, the young duck hopped into the booth, pulling her dad in the seat across from the swan’s.

“It’s been since what, Darkwing: First Darkness? You two have a lot to catch up on.” Gosalyn said breaking the ice.

Boorswan glanced over at Gosalyn like a cat reacting to an unfamiliar creature entering in its territory before smiling over at Drake. “I know the last time we were together it was under circumstances that were rather…unfavorable for the both of us, but so I’m very happy to see that you are here.”

“…To eat lunch?”

“Ha!” Boorswan blurted out before picking up the menu. “Well, you’re not wrong there. I guess we can take care of our hunger eating at us before we get down to business.”

“Wait, business?” Drake asked while looking over to Gosalyn who had her face buried in her menu. “Is there anything you want to tell me, Gos?”

“Nope! I don’t even know what I want to drink yet.” Gosalyn answered bringing her menu closer to her face.

“Gos.”

“You know what? Can’t go wrong with a Pep. Now what to eat…”

“Gosalyn.”

“Aw cool! They got bread bowls here!”

“Gosalyn!”

Alistair slowly lowered his menu, “I’m sorry, but couldn’t you have gotten a sitter for your…child?”

“Hey! I’m fourteen; not a child.” Gosalyn glared at the staring swan.

“I mean really, I don’t know why you and your agent insisted that she be brought here!”

“Actually Boorswan,” Drake sighed as he pulled the menu out of Gosalyn’s hands, “it was just my ‘agent’…”

“Hey, babe.” Gosalyn held her hand out to the dumbfounded Boorswan who stared back at the teen’s devious grin.

“…Drake, please don’t take this criticism personally, but I really don’t think someone who is not old enough to drive should have the responsibilities of an agent.”

“I know how to drive.” Gosalyn folded her arms.

“Oh puh-leaze, you don’t even know how to count.” Boorswan once again looked towards Drake for help. “She demanded that I call ahead and reserve a booth near the window on the west end of the restaurant for four!”

CRASH

“Oh good, he found the place.” Gosalyn stated as she peeked out the window. The teen then looked over at Alistair with a cocky grin on her face. “Looks like I can count.”

“Sorry I’m late guys!” A shout came from the entrance disrupting the entire restaurant.

“Launchpad!” Drake and Gosalyn greeted the pilot as he slid into the booth, squishing Drake into Gosalyn in the process.

“Hey sorry I’m late everyone. Took a bit longer to drive from Duckburg to St. Canard today. What with all the traffic and evil robots.” Launchpad explained before bringing his full attention to Alistair. “Hey Mr. B! It’s me, Launchpad! Remember? We’re both Darkwing fans!”

“…Uh, hello?”

“It’s been since what, Darkwing: First Darkness?”

“…Are you his agent too?”

“No, I’m his pilot! Also I’m Mr. McD’s pilot. I’m a lot of people’s pilots. Two, I suppose.”

“…Drake, why couldn’t you and I have met in private without your agent and without your personal pilot?”

“Because I had no idea we were meeting today!” Drake exclaimed before motioning to Gosalyn. “And she’s not my agent. She did however arrange for this lunch to happen but did not let me nor Launchpad know that you’d be here.”

“Actually, she told me.” Launchpad admitted.

“Wait, what?” Drake and Alistair asked in unison.

“Launchpad…” Gosalyn groaned.

“Oh…so you mean Drake doesn’t know about the Boorswan’s big superhero movie which he wants Drake to star in?” Launchpad inquired out loud. “Huh…guess I wasn’t as late as I thought…Boy, am I getting better at this whole living two different lives thing!”

“Wait, big superhero movie” Drake gasped “YOU MEAN YOU FOUND A STUDIO THAT IS GOING TO MAKE THE DARKWING DUCK MOVIE HAPPEN?!”

The staff and other patrons of the restaurant flinched as the duck spoke in the quietest volume he could possibly manage.

“Gosalyn!” Drake smiled over to the duck currently snapping her fingers to make sure her sense of hearing was still working. “Why didn’t you tell me about this? I’ll do it!”

“…Ha-ha” Boorswan awkwardly chuckled before clearing his throat, “I’m afraid no studio out there is as passionate as we were about that project, Drake. But do you know who they really want to see?...”

Gosalyn slunk down in her seat, preparing herself for Drake’s reaction. While Launchpad sat back and smiled in anticipation.

“Gizmoduck!” Boorswan answered with gravitas.

“GIZMODUCK!?!?” Drake repeated causing everyone in the restaurant to once again flinch. As Alistair continued speaking, the other patrons and staff of the restaurant glared over to Drake before going back to their business.

“Yeah, I know. Not a really a fan of the name either.”

“Isn’t that great, Drake!?” Launchpad asked. “I just know you’ll be a great Gizmoduck, buddy!”

“Gosalyn!” Drake looked over to the duck who sat back up with her arms folded. “Why didn’t you tell me about this? I won’t do it!”

“You won’t!?” Both Alistair and Launchpad asked in disappointment.

“Because I knew that’s how you’d react.” Gosalyn replied to Drake. “Could you at least listen to Boorswan’s pitch first before we decide how much of the merchandise profits you’re gonna get from this.”

“We are not deciding any of this! Cause you are not my agent. And I’m not doing it.”

“Oh come on,” Gosalyn groaned, “this could be great for your career! God knows you need it.”

“I’m sorry Drake, but who is she exactly?” Alistair asked Drake motioning to Gosalyn.

“…” Drake looked at Gosalyn and then back to Boorswan. “Oh right, Alistair this is Gosalyn. She’s my…well I’ve been taking care of her ever since her grandfather-”

“Went missing.” Gosalyn answered for Drake.

“Right.” Drake nodded at Gosalyn, before looking up at Launchpad. “And well Launchpad has been helping me with her too”

“Oh…” Boorswan stated as he started to put everything together, “…so are you three a…family of some sorts?”

“Yeah!” Launchpad answered. “I’m the uncle!”

“…I…” Alistair tried to find where he wanted to go with that sentence but ended up grabbing a napkin which he quickly scribbled. “Drake, are you busy tonight?”

“Well, the three of us didn’t really have any major plans other th-”

“Terrific!” Boorswan stated as he held the napkin out for Drake, “I would like it if you came over to my place for dinner.”

“We’ll do it!” Gosalyn answered as she took the napkin from Boorswan. “Let’s say seven?”

“I’ve got some fun board games and my Darkwing Duck fan film in the car!” Launchpad suggested. “This’ll be a fun night!”

“Actually,” Alistair grabbed the napkin back from Gosalyn and tucked it into Drake’s shirt, “I only want Drake to come. Afterall it’s his opinion I’m asking for, not yours.”

Gosalyn grabbed Drake and motioned for Launchpad to join in on the huddle. “I don’t know if you should go by yourself. This movie will be a big deal and he’s taking you to his place to get wined and dined. I don’t want you get fu-”

Drake closed Gosalyn’s beak with his fingers as he looked over to his partner. “Launchpad, do you think you can watch Gosalyn tonight?”

“Uh sure thing, Drake does she have a hockey game tonight?”

“No, I’ll just need you to watch her tonight when I have dinner with Boorswan.” Drake looked over to Alistair, “I’m not saying I’ll do it, but I’ll hear you out. Plus, it has been a while since we’ve seen each other.”

“Terrific, I’ll see you tonight, say seven?” Boorswan asked while smirking at an eye rolling Gosalyn.

“Seven we’ll be fine.”

“Well, I’ll leave you and your family be.” Alistair stated as he draped his scarf around his neck and stepped away from the booth. “I’ll see you tonight Drake and…” the swan looked over to Gosalyn and then Launchpad, “…I hope you’re at least insured.”

Gosalyn pushed Drake’s hand away from her beak. “Make sure you wear your finest scarf tonight, okay Boory?”

“Cute…” Alistair stated as he walked away.

As the swan walked away, the table’s server finally approached the group.

“…So I assume this’ll be on one check?”

“Yep!” Gosalyn answered, “LP do you think you can use your company credit card?”

“Gosalyn!”

“Actually Gosalyn, Mr. McD doesn’t give out company credit cards.” Launchpad stated as he looked at the menu.

“What? That’s lame!”

“Are you three at least ready to order?” The server asked.

“Aw cool! They got bread bowls!” Launchpad set his menu down. “So I’d like to order soup in a bread bowl. But instead of soup, can I have macaroni and cheese?”

“…I’ll see if the kitchen can give you an adult size portion of that, sir.”

“Oooh cool!” Gosalyn set her menu down. “Can I get the same thing?! Adult size portion as well.”

“That adult portion does not come with apple sauce, is that okay?”

“It’s fine.” Gosalyn rolled her eyes.

“And you sir?”

Drake sat in silence as he thought about all the conversations he went through in the past few minutes. Everything seemed to happen so fast. In a way he felt trapped, but that could be because he was sitting in between Gosalyn and Launchpad.

The mallard glanced at the menu and then back to the server.

“I think I’ll have what they’re having.”

Well then, everything started with your bad day at University. You did lots of things but they did not seem alright, which made you depressed and tired.

Let's imagine that Atsushi and you shared the same room at The Armed Detective Agency (of course, you were their part-time staff) when you opened the door and said that you were home. You could hear Atsushi’s voice resounding from the place he used to cook dinner.

“Oh, welcome home, love.”

Just somehow when you stepped through the doorsteps, you saw Atsushi rush out of the room. And when he looked at your face he would ask what happened to you right away.

“What’s wrong, I heard your voice seemed not alright. Are you sick? Are you tired?”

With tons of questions pouring into your head, you may think that Atsushi was talented at guessing other emotions. But you were wrong because you were close to him so Atsushi knew clearly about you after all.

When being attacked by his question, your heart felt like it was being healed by him. Suddenly, tears slowly fell down from the corner of your eyes to your cheek. That made Atsushi yelp when he saw you crying (because maybe seeing you cry was not good for his little heart).

He would hug you tightly in his arms, let you bury your face in his chest. Atsushi whispered something just to comfort you.

“Alright, alright, just cry if you want to. I would be here waiting for you until you're done crying, my dear.”

And when you stopped crying, that was Atsushi’s turn to serve you.

At first, he would ask what kinds of snacks or sweets you wanted to eat. Because this boy knew that if you had some things except dishes for dinner you would feel better.

“And… What do you want to eat then? If there is something I can make, I will do it for you.”

This would depend on your answer.

If you answered that you wanted to have some sweets from your favorite shop or the one you saw while you were walking home, Atsushi did not mind about the weather or time to buy it for you (if it was still early in the evening, of course). In contrast, if you said that you wanted Atsushi to cook for you. Boy, he would not mind about it too, when he found out that he did not have any or enough ingredients to make them for you he would rush to the store or the market near here to buy and make them for you.

“Here, I brought your favorite sweets/snacks here. You need to take a bath first before having them, okay?”

“Promise me to take a bath while I’m going to gather more ingredients to make them for you. I will make your favorite dishes right away after you finish your bath.”

When you finished taking a bath and got out, you smelled the scent of your favorite food made by Atsushi or the scent of your favorite snacks he bought you. When you entered the place he was cooking, you may see Atsushi put his heart into dishes by carefully making them with his hand.

After having dinner, Atsushi would let you sit on his lap, both of you looking outside through the window. Though the dormitory was not tall enough to look outside to see all of the views of the city, you two always watched the scenery from it.

Atsushi would hug you tightly in his arms to make sure that you were not going to cry anymore. Boy, he thought that you had suffered enough and all of the things you should do that put them all aside.

But if you still had to struggle with the deadline after having a bad day at University, Atsushi would give you a hand too. He may not know lots of things about the major you were studying but he would help you to check on the essay or edit your report at school, of course.

Then, you two would head back to sleep after Atsushi pulled out the futon for both of you. When you fell asleep, Atsushi would kiss your forehead while you were cuddling next to him.

Oh, there was one more thing that Atsushi never told you. He always wished you a good day tomorrow, because he lived to see your smile and love, so Atsushi could not stand your crying.

“Hope everything will be good for you tomorrow.”

Omega Isabela's heat is really going to short-circuit poor alpha Mirabel's brain. Particularly if it makes Isabela all affectionate and touchy-feely.

Ahhh I have NO IDEA where to start with this stuff, because I want it to be fun and interesting, and it can be a good way to like... encourage the characters to leave their comfort zone and connect with each other in a more intimate way, but at the same time, I don't want them acting ooc or overly sexual, so I'm here trying to strike a balance...

I suppose a heat would be... kinda like a more extreme and horny version of a period irl, like... you feel different physically, and may get more emotional, more cranky, more cuddly etc, but you're still very clearly you.

Something I wanted to explore here was the possibility of... like... omegaverse hormones acting different with family members and with sexual/romantic partners, which gets wonky when your sexual partner IS a family member. The family must be used to it by now, but as I imagine it... people wouldn't usually get particularly sexual with family members. Alphas don't want to bang their siblings when they're in heat, and omegas don't want their alpha siblings to bang them. I like to think they'd either be more cuddly or more annoying and demanding, depending on their relationship. I can very clearly picture Isabela insisting that Mirabel brought her food or drinks or that she did her chores for her, because she's feeling poorly and needs to go curl into a ball in her room. I can also imagine Isabela abusing this power to bully Mira around lmao. Even when she's feeling well and she doesn't HAVE to hide in her blanket fort, she's still gonna have Mira doing her work for her lmao. And poor baby alpha Mira is soooooo determined to help and be a good alpha, that she just accepts it TT_TT even before they're engaged, or before the idea is on the table, she's out there feeling like it's her responsability to take care of her omega sister, and from seeing other people in the family act, she thinks it includes doing everything they ask and then like... cuddling her a little. Of course, Isabela kicks her out whenever she dares imply that 😂

With time, as feelings and attraction begin to develop, I think they'd begin to feel a little different... idk whose experience begins to change first, though I think it'd be adorable if it was Isabela's, who suddenly DOES want to cuddle, and stops asking Mirabel to bring her stuff or do chores for her, in part because now she feels bad for ordering her around before, and in part because she doesn't want her to go away. She realizes that keeping her around calms her, that her presence is comforting, even if it doesn't go much further than that initially. And as time passes, following heats become a bit more intense, and she feels herself experiencing physical reactions she didn't have before, wanting to be touched in different ways, getting oddly anxious when she isn't around... I wonder if she'd feel guilty or embarrassed, because Mirabel is much younger, and she doesn't want to take advantage of her or cross any lines, even if they ARE engaged now... and for her part, I like to think it's a lot more sudden for Mirabel, like one heat she's innocently snuggling with her in her nest and bringing her breakfast in bed, and the next she's suddenly like "...oh" like all the blood rushes down. She's suddenly blushing and stammering and she doesn't know whether she should leave, come closer, look away, lock herself in her room or cry. She feels like she's about to do all of that at once. Had her sister always spoken so softly to her? Did she always smell so good? And when Isabela does call her to join her, Mirabel can't even think, she just does as she's told and now Isa is holding her to her chest like a teddy bear and playing with her hair hhhhh she feels like she's gonna explode 😭 when did it stop feeling like taking care of her was just another chore everyone in the family had to do, and started feeling like she suddenly wants to have triplets with her? Poor baby is super stiff and tense because she's scared of moving and doing something gross, like accidentally rubbing up against her and moaning or something.

Bonus points if like... Isabela ever tells her she's doing a fantastic job for a baby alpha, taking care of her and all, ahhh she has big sister's approval this is the best day of her life 😭😭😭

Just then, she flicked ashes onto the sidewalk, as well as the cigarette and squished it out.

“What’s your final destination,” he asked her while pulling out into the airport traffic. “Catalina.” “Most excellent,” he replied and they were on their way to the car rental area on the farthest side of the airport.

“I hate men,” she thought to herself.

Gerta arrived at the car rental bungalow and the driver had told her to enjoy her time in Catalina as she going inside to get away from everyone and everything. Going through the motions of signing papers and whipping out her credit card, the young man behind the counter said she had a choice of a roller skate or a two story SUV. She grimaced and said, “I’ll take the roller skate and be on my way. By the way, how far is it from here to the Catalina Ferry?”

“Normally, it should be about 45 minutes but it could take you about an hour and a half and of course that depends on traffic,” replied the nice young man as he handed her the keys to the roller skate. As she stepped outside and began to look for her rental, Gerta saw it. A bright purple jellybean on wheels. “Christ,” she exclaimed.

She opened the door and saw exactly how small it is. She sat down and had to find the little bar in order to push the seat all the way back, but she was in luck, the car came with Bluetooth. Gerta fumbled with all the mirrors and figured out how to use the directionals. After a few minutes of adjusting all the necessary things, she started the car and waited for another moment for her phone to connect to the Bluetooth. Rammstein came blaring through the speakers. She picked up her phone and tapped the screen and “Carpet of The Sun” came out the speakers. “Better,” she said to herself as she began to head down to the Catalina Island ferry.

As she was merging into traffic, an unnecessarily large burnt orange pickup truck cut her off and Gerta once again screamed, “I HATE MEN!!” The little purple jellybean of a car headed towards the Catalina Ferry.

VRISKA: Once they arrive, all hell will 8reak loose. That's when endgame is officially go.

VRISKA: You only have a couple hours to prepare, so you need to listen to every word I say.

VRISKA: Victory will depend on following my plan to the letter!

ROXY: wheres the condesce right now?

VRISKA: She's on Derse, preparing for the same critical convergence herself.

VRISKA: After our little prison raid caught her completely off guard, costing her some hostages and key points of leverage, we've essentially reached a temporary ceasefire 8y default while 8oth sides regroup.

VRISKA: The only reason we've 8een a8le to temporarily neutralize her stranglehold on this session is 8y taking two major pieces away from her, Harley and Crocker.

VRISKA: Rest assured, she's already scheming to reassert her dominance, and if it weren't for my intervention here, I'd 8et everything I had on the sea witch.

VRISKA: She's spent centuries upgrading her a8ilities which now include 8OTH kinds of telekinesis. The simpler variety more common to rust 8loods, and the nasty kind which sometimes yellow 8looded mutants have involving all the fucking eye lasers and shit.

VRISKA: If that weren't enough, she has a mix of telepathic a8ilities too, like mine, plus the animal communion kind more typical of 8rown 8loods.

TAVROSPRITE: lIKE ME!

VRISKA: Yes Tavros, like you.

VRISKA: This means she can hijack animals AND trolls, assuming they aren't particularly resistant to influence, like me o8viously.

VRISKA: Humans I'm guessing are still off limits to her influence, unless they've got some animal 8lood in them, which is what makes Jade such a dangerous element here.

VRISKA: One of the mission critical priorities is to make sure she stays asleep. If she ever wakes up, and the Condesce takes control again, that's pro8a8ly game over for you guys.

VRISKA: Jade's first guardian a8ilities make her too much to deal with on top of everything else.

VRISKA: It's also possi8le that the Condesce may have some sway over the prospitian and one of the Jacks 8ecause of their part-dog n8ture too.

VRISKA: It's hard to say what their level of resistance is, so I really can't 8e sure.

VRISKA: Strategically, it's 8est to err on the safe side though, and presume this could 8e an issue.

VRISKA: This is why taking on the Condesce has to 8e a HUGE PRIORITY!

VRISKA: Ideally, you should 8e trying to kill or disa8le her as quickly as possi8le.

VRISKA: 8ut if that's easier said than done, then what you need to do is keep her OCCUPIED!

VRISKA: Throw everything you have at her. Whatever crazy powers you've got.

VRISKA: Just keep her 8usy!

VRISKA: Distracted enough 8y a 8unch of pesky kids so she won't have time to get clever with her powers.

VRISKA: This is the 8est defense against the off-chance she might 8e a8le to sway the dog Jack and prospitian, AND a failsafe in case Jade wakes up for whatever reason.

VRISKA: When it comes to killing her, I don't have much to advise.

VRISKA: There's no intel on her weaknesses or anything like that. In fact, I'd 8et she doesnt have any.

VRISKA: Like any powerful endgame 8oss, you just have to keep hammering away at her until she's dead.

VRISKA: The Condesce has the edge in guile and flexi8ility, and Lord Jack has a ton of offensive power too...

VRISKA: 8ut there's nothing quite like the first guardian a8ilities to give someone an overwhelming tactical advantage.

VRISKA: The a8ility to teleport anywhere in the session any time, or ANYONE anywhere any time, while having access to an inexhausti8le power supply from the green sun really makes it no contest, even against an otherwise awesome com8atant.

VRISKA: If it were just him you had to deal with, I wouldn't like your odds, honestly.

VRISKA: 8ut luckily for us, there's a major factor here which should mostly neutralize him during this huge melee, which is the prospitian.

VRISKA: Power-wise, she's a precisely even match for him.

VRISKA: And 8etter yet, she apparently can't stand the guy.

VRISKA: I still don't know what her real motives are, 8ut you know what they say. Enemy of my enemy and all.

VRISKA: So I say let her have at him, and if the opportunity presents itself, help her defeat him.

VRISKA: I will also give this 8it of advice.

VRISKA: If Jade ever wakes up, AND THE CONDESCE IS SUFFICIENTLY PREOCCUPIED, make sure Jade goes nowhere near the Condesce, and sic her on Dog Jack.

VRISKA: The only reason he's not at Dog Tier threat level is 8ecause, for all his power, at least it's localized to wherever he happens to 8e.

VRISKA: He's a8out as slow as any of us lowly non-omnipotents.

VRISKA: He's not quite as relevant to keep occupied, or even to defeat, as the Condesce herself.

VRISKA: 8ut he's still going to 8e HUGE TROU8LE when he gets here.

VRISKA: You're going to need to stick some really good fighters on him.

VRISKA: My advice is also to SERIOUSLY prepare for casualties during that fight.

VRISKA: As the group's chief healer, Jane is going to need rapid access to the multiple fronts of this 8attle.
