OWL HOUSE FACT #62: Gus once speculated that the griddy was some sort of defense movement, only to be corrected by a human authority (Luz).

Thinking about "Amity and Hunter being deranged and causing immense bodily harm to one another" Just how aware is Luz of the extent of the harm because they're obviously both keeping it from her for obvious reasons.
I can see Hunter straight up being "Well I can't let Luz know Amity did this because if she were to get mad at Amity or concerned for my safety and worried she might do it again... and that would seriously bum her out given the whole 'weirdly massive crush she can't articulate' thing going on." (and also general 'Can't let Luz worry about my injuries/nearly dying' based thoughts )
Amity is just convinced that if Luz knew about 'the time she sent half of Hunter's ribcage into his lungs she would be out of the castle or worse and knows that people posing a threat to Hunter's life have a habit of peacefully having heart attacks in their sleep. And in truth if she were anyone else that might not be a silly fear.
(I love the genuinely terrified with good reason of, to seeing you're safe with them to lover pipeline)
For a while she doesn't get that she isn't 'anyone else' and that a) Hunter genuinely likes her company, and b) Luz both likes her and respects Hunter's autonomy to not throw out his murder bestie even if she didn't... (even if she'd prefer he not be nearly dying all the time)
So for a while she is convinced Hunter is holding onto it as perfect blackmail material for whenever. I do think it's funny if they just... never tell her just how brutal their fights could be, or only tell her when they're all in their fourties or smthn
luz ABSOLUTELY does not know about the Matchstick Bones incident. and neither hunter nor amity are willing to tell her. i do like the idea of amity worrying about blackmail.... but i'm ALSO really fond of the thought that, like. the possibility of luz-related blackmail evaporates Really Fucking Fast. because hunter is so aggressively and edgily insistent that amity not mention this to luz.
so like. it seems like HE might be in trouble with her if he tells. mutually assured destruction!
amity Does have a vested interest in lilith not finding out, though. darius is not a snitch so no worries there, but hunter is a bitch. ultimately i don't think he Actually would tell her, because he doesn't actually expect lilith to give a fuck. but amity clearly believes lilith would give a fuck. hunter can use this
^worst boy In The World.
as for amity fearing luz finding out... i don't think she'd be Super afraid of luz exiling her or killing her for it. unless it's maybe in those first very fraught days after belos dies. she'd be way more scared if hunter had ended up with permanent injuries, but he's fine, so no harm no foul, right??
she IS worried luz will think less of her. and worried luz won't trust her / will think she's dangerous.
the thing about hunter and amity's fights -- both the physical and verbal ones -- are that they're mutually, equally vicious. both of them are really Going For It. amity accidentally hurt hunter but he could Just As Easily have snapped her spine or cracked her skull by accident.
it's less "luz is gonna think i'm torturing hunter" and more "luz is gonna think we're irresponsible and stupid." which. THEY ARE.
meanwhile on hunter's end, as usual he doesn't want to stress luz out. and more importantly, he doesn't want her to tell him to stop, and she Absolutely Fucking Would if she knew how dangerous things were getting. luz being like "can't you guys spar with some ground rules and cushions????" and hunter like "actually we're both so filled with formless aimless rage that if we don't do this we're probably gonna go on some kind of serial killing spree instead. i don't expect you to understand tho 💕" and luz like "You Are Right. I Do Not."
anyway. they've pulled the worst of their punches since darius yelled at them, at least. if luz ever finds out it'll 100% be when they're in their forties and amity or hunter references it as a fond adolescent memory, forgetting luz was out of the loop.
and luz is like. h. Hello. Excuse Me??

okay i'm glad! then i'm sending this in if you ever get back in a BoB mood, but no pressure :)
can i request headcanons on how some of them would react (i was thinking mainly Liebgott, Roe and Speirs, but absolutely feel free to add anyone you want too like Luz or Malarkey) if the Easy company gets dispatched in a town near the sea/has to sleep in a beach or similar, and the sweet and kind nurse that is always dispatched with the second battalion (who everyone is crushing on ofc hahaha) as soon as all the high ranks are gone just, takes off her uniform (so she is like in her bra and underwear) and just bolts it towards the sea, calling for the others to join her and play around in the water, because she just loves the sea that much?
i just thought something fun and light could be cute, since the boys definitely need some fun time :)🫶🏻
heyyyy omg so sorry it’s taken so long to reply but thank you thank you thank you for your request! I love this idea sm!! I have altered it slightly to make it more realistic (don’t ask why cos I bend the rules all the time) but I hope these head cannons are okay!!! <3 <3 <3 <3
Band of Brothers x Nurse!Reader Headcannons
General HC’s for 2nd battalion + some more men reacting to their well loved nurse having some fun in the water.
Tumblr media
So first let me set the scene, you’ve all just been told you’re being shipped back off to the pacific and morale has somewhat dropped again.
theres so much anxiety snd tension in the air that nobody really can unwind, so after one particularly gruelling training session, 2nd battalions nurse decides to have a little fun…
It’s a boiling hot day in Austria, the lake looks so inviting, and she’s such a sweetheart she just wants to boost morale. All the men absolutely adore her, if they don’t have a crush on her they find her endearing and a comfort to them.
“fuck it.” She mutters, stripping off her uniform as she runs closer to the pier, dropping each piece of clothing behind her.
One by one all the men’s heads turn and then suddenly begin whooping and whistling in excitement. Joe Liebgott:
Tumblr media
Stunned to see you stripping off, in fact he remains frozen with his jaw dropped for a few moments. He’s so used to seeing you all covered up and oh my god boobs.
“Close your trap, Joe, you’re trapping flies.”
wouldn’t take much convincing to get in, I think he’d be super playful with you, splashing you and dunking you.
deffo splashes you a little too much, but when you’d jump on his back and he feels the press of your boobs against his bare back- uhhhh his brain turns to mush.
“It’s so nice, isn't it Joe?”
“Uh- yeah, so nice…” deffo gets a boner.
Eugene Roe:
Tumblr media
Maybe a lil different scenario, I feel like if there was a group of you he’d probably sit on the side watching and laughing in amusement.
he’d watch you strip off and immediately avert his eyes out of respect but ohmygodogogososo he’s blushing- he hasn’t seen a woman like that for years.
you’re already super close, so to be able to have downtime together creates something more… intimate.
if you’d jump in at the end of the day, the sun setting when it’s just the two of you I don’t think it would take much convincing to for him to get in the water.
you’d float further back from the surface with a smirk as he undressed, jumping in and purposefully splashing you.
would be a little more shy, especially if there’s more men around, but the second you joke about how he might need to give you cpr and the kiss of life he’s smirking and acting all cool and omg.
his hands would snake lower and lower down onto your butt and everybody would be none the wiser around you guys if there was others there.
who knew Roe could be such a flirt?
Ron Speirs:
Tumblr media
Now this guy being your literal superior probably wouldn’t linger around to see you, 2nd battalions own nurse, strip off to go for a swim whilst all the horny men giggle like children from the land.
he’d deffo know he had to be more respectful, but let’s change the time a little, it’s just after the German army surrendered, you’re both wasted.
Rob asks you like ‘so what were you doing in the water the other day?’
You’d tell him in return you were just having some fun and he should’ve tried it. Ron, in a celebratory mood, and captivated by how fucking beautiful you are just thinks ‘fuck it’ and makes the decision to go on a ‘walk’.
You end up pushing each other into the water.
for a moment you’re probs shocked that this is literally Captain Speirs you’re swimming with, but things get… heated and there’s no time to think about being intimidated.
you’d deffo probs have the hottest, spontaneous sex with him in the water lmaooo.
George Luz:
Tumblr media
You just know this man would be the first one to jump in with you OMG.
he’d be so excited like finally, somebody’s just as fun as he is…
Probs like that kid on holiday that takes it too far and dunks you to the point you’re so out of breath.
I feel like you two would physically play fight to playfully drowning each other. Would be chaos central and anybody who tried to come near you would get a face-full of water.
Don’t be surprised if you wake up the next day with bruises.
kinda sweet tho, you’d lay on the beach together the same night and he’d be all sweet, apologising and checking he didn’t take it too far?
Don Malarkey:
Tumblr media
Everybody knows Don needs this time to unwind and just have some fun.
for the first time in months he feels more like himself, the two of you already have a very close bond so it makes you both so mutually happy to the see the other so care free.
I think he’d be laughing like crazy, probably throwing you off the dock and then jumping in after you, cos even tho he’s playing around he doesn’t want to be too rough with you.
would happily shove any of the other men in the water so that the two of you are left standing on the land together.
When he see’s you in your wet bikini oh my godddd- his brain turns to mush and he practically avoids even making eye contact with you he’s that nervous.
when you sit on his lap later that evening he’s done for.
he’s a little stunned cos you’re always so sweet and innocent… but it feels like a dream come true for Malarkey.

~~~~~~~
October 1943
It was never a good idea to mix a single female with a Company of deprived men in the Army...but here you are. You found out you were assigned to Easy Company 2nd Battalion 101st Airborne Division in Fall 1943 when they lost one of their medics to an injury. Although you trained separately from the males at Toccoa in the Divisional medical unit and were one of very few females allowed to work alongside men, you got along quite well with most of the guys. You held your own never asking for special treatment or never played the ‘damsel in distress’ card, so Easy Company learned rather quickly that you can keep up.
~~~~~~~
You remember the day you arrived at Aldbourne, England to make contact with the boys of Easy Company. With your reassignment order in hand, you approach a group of soldiers sitting at a picnic bench outside a building. All of them looking a bit rough, but nonetheless smoking and joking with eachother. They take a pause as they notice you approaching them. Some of them sizing you up and down as you carry your duffel full of medical supplies and wearing fatigues that have yet to see the battlefields like theirs have.
“Hey, you lost there, lady?” Private Roy Cobb called out to you, sizing you up again as you continued to walk towards them without faltering.
You shoot the mouthy Private a look of disdain before responding.
“I’m looking for Corporal Roe. I was told to make contact with him as soon I arrived.” You speak to the group as a whole.
They all exchanged looks and a few whispers.
Corporal George Luz stood up.
“Why, I’m Eugene Roe. But around here they call me, ‘Doc.’” He declared confidently with a cocky grin.
The others started to snicker. One laid a heavy pat on his shoulder showing his appreciation of the joke.
You rolled your eyes, releasing an exasperated sigh.
Sergeant Denver Randleman stood from the bench, then walked towards you pushing Luz aside shaking his head as he passed him. He was a larger man. Like a bear. Never removing the cigar hanging out of the corner of his mouth as he spoke to you.
“He’s across the way this way, I’ll take ya to him.” He said, motioning you along in the opposite direction.
“Thank you, Sergeant.” You reply.
“No problem. And it’s just ‘Bull,’ ma’am.” He said politely in his thick Southern accent as he passed you leading the way.
You turn on your heel and proceed to follow Bull, ignoring the distant whistles you heard from some of the men you just met behind you.
~~~~~~~
“I hope the guys haven’t given you too much trouble so far?” stated the actual Eugene ‘Doc’ Roe when you crossed into the designated aid station.
“Nothing I haven’t dealt with before, Doc.” You say with conviction.
Bull chuckled, finding your response amusing.
“Yeah, I bet.” Doc replied before continuing.
“Well, let’s get you in processed here, and squared away. Thanks for bringing her here, Bull. I’m sure those other idiots would’ve just sent her to their barracks.” he said with a roll of his eyes.
Bull nodded with a small wave.
“See you at chow, L/N.” Bull called back to you before he left.
When Bull returned to where the others were still gathered, they bombarded him with questions.
“Did you catch her name??” Sergeant (Sgt) Don Malarkey prodded.
“-is she coming to Easy Company??” Sgt Bill Guarnere interrupted before Bull could answer.
“-did she say anything about me?” Luz questioned.
As the interrogation got heavier, he threw his hands up and removed the cigar from his mouth.
“GUYS!! Take it easy, will ya? You’ll see her later at chow, just don’t attack her with all of these questions right away, k? We don’t want to scare her off now, do we?” He explained as he replaced his cigar and walked away.
They all swapped looks of excitement.
“Well, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m going to have me a shower before dinner this evening.” Corporal Joe Liebgott stated while flicking his cigarette butt, rising from the picnic bench, shouldering his rifle.
Tumblr media
“Ok, Liebgott, like you have a shot.” Malarkey teased.
Liebgott turned to him.
“Oh contrare, I feel you underestimate me, Don.” He shot back at Malarkey while walking backwards, then turning back around.
The group scoffed at him collectively.
~~~~~~~
You got to chow early before any of the other men started to show up. You tucked yourself way in the back at a long table in the corner. You made sure to keep your head down, hanging over a tray trying to swallow some of the Army’s finest slop.
“Should’ve just stuck to a dinner roll with margarine.” You whispered to yourself as you grimaced from the last mouthful of mystery meat from your plate.
“Not exactly a high-end dish from The Ritz, now, is it?” Sgt Carwood Lipton joked as he sat down across from you with his own serving of slop.
“Yeah, not quite.” You respond while poking at a hard, clay-like mound on your plate that was supposed to be mashed potatoes.
“You’ll get used to it.” Bull stated as he sat next to you with his tray.
You ‘psh-ed’ at Bull’s statement.
“I highly doubt that. But I’ll make do.” You convinced yourself. “Surprisingly not the worst food I’ve had.” You added.
“Really, there’s something out there worse than this?” Lipton asked astonished as he stirred his cold soup that looked like ketchup and water.
“Oh yeah! Pixley and Ehler’s Diner on Clark Street in Chicago has some questionable selections.” You explained.
“Is that where you’re from?” Corporal Frank Perconte queried as he sat next to Lipton.
“I am.” You replied with pride.
“You Italian then?” Guarnere asked, inviting himself to the conversation, sitting next to Perconte.
“Italian and Irish.” You clarified.
“Ssshh, a goddam Mick-Deigo.” Guarnere sneered crinkling his nose in disgust.
“Leave’er alone, Gonorrhea.” Liebgott interjected sitting next to Bull.
“I’m guessing you're Italian?” You directed at Guarnere.
“Sicilian, actually.” He retorted.
“Hm, you know that Sicilians aren’t real Italians, right? Sicily is just like Australia. All the criminals of Britain were shipped there to be ostracized from the mainland. Sicily is just an island of Italy’s delinquents.” You taunted.
The others “ooooo-ed” in unison. Even Perconte who was the other Italian of Easy company.
“She got you there, Guarnere.” Bull teased.
Everyone laughed. Except Guarnere.
“You think you’re funny?” Guarnere challenged.
You sighed and looked at him deadpan in the face without an ounce of fear to show.
“Come on, Guarnere, she was only dishing out what you gave her.” Perconte defended.
“Shut your trap, Perconte, you should be on my side!” he said slamming a fist onto the surface of the table then pointing at him.
The rest of the table filled up with remaining members of Easy Company that could fit that wanted to see the fight unfold.
You folded your arms in front of you on top of the table and leaned forward, making sure you got Guarnere’s attention, then spoke with distinct fire in your voice.
“You think I’m some dame just showing up here straight out of basic training not knowing how to handle myself with soldiers? I’ve been whistled at, barked at, howled at, catcalled, pinched, ass slapped, and manhandled by the worst of them, pal. You labeling me because of my heritage ain’t gonna do shit to me. But I’ll be damned you disrespect me like I haven’t earned the right to be respected. Just remember, I’m the one that’s going to be tending to you if you get shot in the field, sergeant.”
You glare at him, then rise harshly from your seat, leaving the rest of the table in a state of awe and shock.
“Good job, Gonorrhea. You pissed her off now.” Liebgott pointed out with an audible tsk.
“Fuck her.” Guarnere spit back.
~~~~~~~
As soon as you left the chow hall, you found a spot out of sight to catch your breath and slow your heart rate. You leaned against a post looking up towards the night sky taking deep controlled breaths.
“Corporal L/N?” You’re startled by the voice of Lieutenant (LT) Richard Winters. You snap to attention ready to render a salute, but he waves you down.
“As you were. Are you alright?” He asked as you relaxed your stance.
“Yessir, just getting some fresh air.” You reassured.
He looked at you with skepticism, not believing you were telling him the entire truth.
You continued.
“A room full of men who haven’t showered in a few days can make a gal lightheaded.” You joked.
The corner of LT Winters’ mouth started to curl into a slight grin, trying his best not to laugh outloud at your quick wit.
“I see, L/N. Well rest up, we’ll need you to be ready when we move out for the next mission.” He explained.
“Yes, sir. Have a good night.” You replied.
Winters gave a nod and entered the chow hall.
LT Winters bee lined for his company’s table. His men all greeted him cheerfully as he approached the table.
“Lieutenant, got a seat open right here.” Bull called out, gesturing to your vacant spot.
“No thanks, Bull, I’ve eaten already.” Winters responded. He paused before he continued.
“Just ran into Corporal L/N on the way in-” He paused again to assess the men’s reaction.
Some continued eating, pretending like they hadn’t really heard. Lipton, Bull and Liebgott looked up at Winters waiting for him to continue.
“She seemed somewhat troubled.” Winters finished. He waited for anyone to speak up, looking at the group expectantly.
“Maybe her panties got all up in a twist, sir.” Guarnere offered up sarcastically.
Some of the men chortled in response.
Winters, Bull, Lipton, and Liebgott weren’t amused.
“Well, she only said a room full of foul-smelling males made her dizzy and she needed fresh air.” Winters relayed, while looking at Guarnere suspiciously.
Tumblr media
The men all started to smell their armpits self-consciously.
“Corporal Liebgott.” Winters called out.
“Sir?”
“Get out there and escort L/N to her tent.” Winters instructed.
“Yes, sir.” Liebgott acknowledged.
“L/N will not walk around alone at night, gentlemen. I don’t care who goes with her, but make sure she always has a battle buddy in the hours of darkness. Tracking?” Winters asked, raising his voice authoritatively.
The table responded “yes, sir” simultaneously.
Liebgott rushed out excitedly and hustled down the street to catch you before you got too far.
~~~~~~~
You were aways a bit ahead before Liebgott found you.
“Hey, L/N! Wait up!” He called after you.
You turned around looking for the voice calling your name.
You stopped walking, waiting for Liebgott trotting over to catch up to you.
“Can I help you?” You asked with a little more harshness in your voice than you intended.
“As a matter of fact, I’m here to help you. I have the honor of accompanying you to your barracks.” He responded with enthusiasm and a smile.
You were taken aback. You raised an eyebrow at him.
“Oh?” You questioned before continuing. “That’s quite unexpectedly chivalrous of you.”
“Well, you have Winters to thank for that, it was his idea.” He responded quite bluntly.
You rolled your eyes.
“Hm, I see.” You reply briskly.
Liebgott realized he sounded like an asshole right then.
“Of course, if you approve, I’ll appoint myself your permanent battle buddy from now on.” He extended with his signature smirk as you resumed walking together.
You felt your face heat up. You averted your eyes to the ground so he wouldn’t see you blush. But Joseph Liebgott doesn’t miss a thing. He grinned wider.
“If those are the LT’s orders, then have at it, Liebgott.” You replied coldly.
“Nah, that last part was my idea.” He stated proudly.
You shot him a confused expression, then he winked at you.
You laughed nervously, looking away quickly to break the awkwardness you felt in the pit of your stomach.
He smiled at you affectionately.
“And call me Joe.” He added.
“Y/N.” You reply looking up at him through your lashes.
“Look, sorry if I’m making it weird. And don’t listen to Gonorrhea. He’s just a jackass with a height deficiency. The kid always has some stupid shit to say.” He explained.
You nod trying to suppress a giggle.
“This is me.” You announce as you approach the entrance to your sleeping quarters. You turn to face Joe. “Thank you for the chat, and the company, Liebgott…I mean Joe.” You say dotingly.
“Forget it. So?” He asked.
You were genuinely confused.
“Sooo?” You reply.
“Am I your permanent evening escort?” he asked with a grin and a wink.
This time you laugh outwardly at his attempt at a flirty sexual inuendo.
“If by ‘evening escort’ you mean my nightly walk to and from one location to another, I’d have to say....I’ll think about it.” You respond flirtatiously with a wink in return.
His face lit up.
“Well alright then. We’ll take another test run tomorrow night.” He proposed.
You shook your head smiling, astounded by the level of confidence this man had.
“Good night, Joe.” You finalized as you disappear beyond the threshold of the tent entrance.

When Camila asked the kids about their favorite foods, she was just hoping to ask Luz for help to try and find any human substitute/equivalent to try and replicate it for them.
He was expecting to hear some bizarre names. (Seriously, fairy pie? What would one even use to substitute fairies? Shrimp, maybe?)
What she wasn't expecting was Hunter looking serious and focused enough as a man on the battlefield.
He was muttering to himself while tapping his finger to his lips, seemingly giving the question far more importance than Camila thought necessary.
He kept at it for a few seconds until finally, with a resolute nod to himself, he replied.
"Rootknot fruit."
Camila wasn't surprised when she didn't recognize the name. But she was a bit surprised to find that Amity, Gus, Luz, and Vee looked as lost as she did.
She was even more surprised at Willow's borderline offended look.
"Rootknot fruit? Really?"
Hunter perked up in the way he did every time he got to speak about a particular interest of his.
"Yeah! It grows all over the isles, and it's relatively easy to forage. The fruit is really dense, so a single bite can be enough to push away hunger for a whole day. Also, in case of emergency, if you chew the skin into a paste and use it as a salve between bandages, it makes any wound close faster to stop bleeding. It's a great food source to find in any mission."
Everyone blinked.
"Ah, that sounds great, mijo. And do you like the taste?"
"Oh no, it tastes awful. Like chewing on rotten wood. It's terrible."
Hunter was still smiling as he told her that his favorite food tasted terrible.
"Oh. Well, do you have any food from the demon realm you really like the taste of?"
Hunter now looked pensive. Apparently, taste never occurred to him as a factor when choosing a favorite food.
"Um. Gus once gave me a really good sandwich?"

Hidden affections - Joe Liebgott
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Band of brothers masterlist
The tension between Joe Liebgott and Y/N during basic training was palpable, their constant bickering earning them a reputation as the pair who couldn't stand each other. Yet, hidden beneath the surface, there was a strange connection that bound them together.
One evening at the bar, the air was thick with the familiar scent of cigarette smoke and the low hum of conversations.
She found herself watching Him from across the room, despite the tension that existed between them. His animated conversations with friends drew her attention, inadvertently coaxing a smile from her.
As she observed, George Luz snuck up behind her, curiosity etched on his face. "Who are you smiling at?" he asked, a playful tone in his voice.
However, his smile quickly faded and his expression shifted from playful to concerned as he followed her gaze to Joe Liebgott.
"Really? " George scoffed, looking at her like a disappointed parent "Liebgott?, after the way he acts around you?"
"It's complicated Luz" she replied, taking another sip of her beer.
Luz raised an eyebrow, unconvinced. "Complicated? That's one way to describe it. I mean, he acts like he can't stand you half the time."
She sighed, her gaze lingering on Joe as he laughed at something Talbert had said. "Yeah, well, maybe it's his way of dealing with things. Doesn't mean there's not something else there."
George smirked, leaning against the bar. "You're telling me there's something more to Liebgott than meets the eye? Colour me intrigued."
Chuckling she shook her head. "You wouldn't understand, Luz. It's like we're constantly at odds, but when it comes down to it, he's got my back. And I've got his."
George gave her a skeptical look. "Got his back? More like got each other's throats."
"Trust me, Luz, i know there's a lot more to Joe Liebgott than what he shows. " she replied cryptically, swirling her beer in her glass.
George sighed, "Well, just be careful. Liebgott's a complicated guy, and complicated usually means trouble."
She nodded in acknowledgment, a hint of a smile playing on her lips. "I can handle a little trouble."
--------------------------------------------------------
Liebgott sat at a nearby table, the conversation he was engrossed in had become irrelevant as his ear pricked up at the mention of Y/N's name from the table behind him , overhearing Roy Cobb, a fellow paratrooper, running his mouth about her to a group of new replacements.
"Y/n? Oh, you mean Easy Company's little sweetheart," Cobb remarked with a mocking tone, eliciting a few chuckles from the newcomers. "she's just a liability. She should've never shown her face in easy company! My bet is she's been playing the commander, putting on a show of competence that's going to get someone killed. Sobel should've gotten rid of her a long time ago."
Anger flared in Joe's eyes as he clenched his fists, his jaw tightening as Cobb continued to tarnish her name.
"And have you seen her? No wonder she hasn't found a man yet. Who would want to be with someone like her? It's not surprising she's still single; she's probably too busy ruining missions to care about settling down."
Unable to contain himself any longer, Joe jumped up from his table and approached Cobb's group with a scowl on his face.
"What the fuck did you just say about her?" Joe sneered at Cobb, who tried to laugh it off and reason with him. "Come on, Joe, you know what she's like – my bet is she's had half the company now-"
Before Cobb could finish his sentence, Joe's fist connected with his face, sending him sprawling to the floor. The commotion drew the attention of the entire bar, and the rest of Easy Company rushed to stop the impending fight.
She and Luz watched, exchanging puzzled glances. "What was that about?" She asked, concern furrowing her brow.
George shook his head. "I don't know, but Liebgott looks pissed."
As the men of Easy Company pulled Joe away from the scene, Cobb nursed his bleeding nose and shot a glare in her direction. She met his gaze with a cold intensity, her eyes daring him to say another word.
Joe, still seething, was restrained by his comrades. "You talk about her again, and I'll do more than just break your nose," he spat at Cobb, the words laced with a dangerous edge.
The bar returned to its uneasy quiet, the rumours quashed by the unexpected confrontation. Joe may have acted on impulse, but his protective instinct for her had been laid bare for everyone to see.
She watched as Joe stormed out of the bar in a huff, cursing under his breath. She placed her empty pint glass on the table in front of her and felt a sense of urgency to follow him. "Hey, where are you going?" George called out, walking back to the bar - no doubt to get another drink.
"Don't worry about it," she mumbled back, not wanting to explain as she made a beeline for the door Joe had just stormed out of. Once outside, the cold air hit her like a thousand tiny needles, causing her to shiver. Walking a few steps away from the door, she scanned the darkening area, the sun just starting to set, painting the sky with an orangey-red hue.
Her eyes fell upon Joe, leaning against one of the nearer barracks, smoking a cigarette. She took a deep breath and began walking towards him, the stones crunching under her shoes catching Joe's attention almost immediately , his jaw tightening in response.
"What are you doing out here?" Joe asked, stubbing out his cigarette. Ignoring Joe's question, She confronted him,
"What the hell was that back there?"
"Never you mind," Joe replied dismissively.
"Joseph Liebgott, I will mind. You punched a fellow paratrooper in the face!" Her tone carried a mix of disbelief and frustration, feeling as if she was scolding a schoolboy.
"Cobb said some shit that wasn't true, and I hit him – no big deal," Joe responded, trying to downplay the situation.
"What did he say, Joe?" She pressed, her voice rising a little.
"Damn it, Y/n, what is this, 21 questions?"
"Liebgott, tell me what he said!" She insisted, her frustration evident.
Joe sighed pushing off the barracks wall and walked over to her, the distance between them closing until they were almost nose to nose , his breath fanning her face, the smell of the recent cigarette lingering in the air.
Joe's gaze softened, and he let out a heavy sigh. "Look, I might not always show it, but I don't like hearing lies about people I... care about," he admitted gruffly, avoiding direct eye contact.
Her expression softened in return. "Care about? Liebgott, you're not known for being the sentimental type. Why would you care about what Cobb says about me?"
Joe hesitated for a moment, his jaw clenching. "I hate to admit it, but... I don't like the idea of anyone talking crap about you. Especially when it's a load of bullshit."
Her eyes widened, surprised by his admission. "Joe Liebgott, did you just say something vaguely nice about me?"
He scoffed, trying to deflect. "Don't get used to it. I just... I don't know, I just don't like people thinking less of you because of some idiot's lies."
A small smile played on her lips. "Well, I appreciate that, Joe. It's strange, you know? Despite all the bickering, I never thought you'd... care."
Joe mumbled something incoherent, avoiding her gaze. The tension between them lingered, the unspoken words hanging in the cold air. , Feeling a mix of emotions, She took a step closer to Joe.
"I don't hate you, Y/n. I might not show it, but I..." Joe's gruff words trailed off, and before he could finish, She closed the remaining distance between them, pressing her lips against his. It was a moment of unexpected intimacy, fuelled by the unspoken emotions they both struggled to express.
Breaking the kiss, Joe sighed, his forehead resting against hers. "I hate to admit it, but I... I like you, a lot."
She looked at him, a mix of surprise and a small smile playing on her lips. "Well, that's something," she said, a teasing glint in her eyes.
Joe rolled his eyes but couldn't hide a smirk. "Yeah, yeah, don't get used to it."
As they stood there, the realisation of the unexpected turn of events settled in. The tension that once hung between them had transformed into something different – something neither of them had anticipated.

The Angel of Easy
Mads!! I was so excited when Réka messaged me to be your Secret Santa pinch hitter. So here is a special little Nixon fic for my favourite fellow Lewis fangirl.
Tumblr media
Being one of the few female intelligence officers in the 101st was always going to be a slightly different experience. Despite her training as an SOE and working at Bletchley Circle nothing prepared her to be thrown into a company of men who drank, swore and fought like dogs but formed a group far stronger than any family could ever be. One of the men she warmed most to was Lewis Nixon. His endless sarcasm and witty humour had cemented him in Y/n’s heart and it didn’t take long for them to become firm friends and then something more.
“Do you have to go on that patrol? Can’t you just stay here with me?” Lewis whined, his head still buried under the bed covers as his near-naked frame lay sprawled across the bed.
Y/n laughed, lacing up her lump boots as the grown man rolled over to face her, his blurry eyes and sleepy smile tugging on her heartstrings and if she looked at him any longer she would climb right back into bed with him.
“You know I have to go. This is finally my chance to truly prove myself,” she retorted, this would be her first time on a patrol without Lewis and she intended to gain the respect of her fellow paratroopers.
“You’ve already proven yourself to me in many ways,” Lewis wiggled his eyebrows suggestively and Y/n sighed, hitting him with the nearest pillow.
“I have to go, I’ll see you later. I love you,” Y/n called as the door slammed shut behind her.
“Love you too,” Lewis mumbled into the pillow, his mind drifting back into his sleepy state when he sat upright. Had she just said what he thought she had? And had he replied with the same answer?
Tumblr media
“You know Lieutenant, you’re not that bad after all,” Johnny Martin, nodded at her and she smiled in return. Johnny was a hard man to win over so this was the biggest compliment he could have given.
“Yeah, you’re alright Little Lady,” Bull chimed in, patting her on the back with his large hand.
“Well thanks, guys, I knew you’d like me eventually.”
The group continued to laugh as they followed the path back towards their camp when a loud crack from beside them caused them all to hit the deck. “FLASH?” Johnny shouted, his weapon raised. “Flash? Or we fire.” Was followed by a burst of machine gun fire. The firing above Y/n head caused her to freeze, she’d been through basic training just like the rest of them, she’d fired her weapon and she carried her M1 with her now, but something inside her would allow her to move. Her limbs lay frozen against the wet, muddy soil, her head pressed to the ground.
“Y/L/N GET UP!” Johnny grabbed her collar and shoved her against the nearest tree. “Y/l/n, you used that goddamn gun of yours. I don’t care if you are a Lieutenant or a fucking Major. I’m not losing any of my men because of you.” Johnny's voice was harsh, his usual snarl mixed with a desperation for her to follow his instructions.
Y/n nodded quickly, raising her M1 and firing around the edge of the tree. Johnny seemed satisfied with this and continued his way along the line to check in with the rest of his men. Y/n continued to fire, round after round, clip after clip, with only the image of Lewis in her mind to keep her grounded.
“I’m out of ammo,” she called down the line but the others were too preoccupied to hear her above the firing. Y/n did something she never thought she would do, she got up and ran. Time stood still as her legs carried her from behind the cover of her tree to the next tree, bullets whizzing past her.
“You alright Luz?” She asked, sliding down next to George who was trying to call through to Winters on his radio. George nodded to her and she grabbed his ammunition, loaded her weapon and started firing again.
The noise was deafening, nothing like practising on the ranges back at Toccoa.
“Y/L/N!” Johnny called, waving at her from the next tree down. “There’s a whole goddamn Panzer division coming from the south. We’ve gotta get outta here.”
Y/n nodded, motioning for him and the other men to head for cover further back from the line as she continued to fire. Johnny and Bull appeared by her side soon after.
“The others have retreated. I think we’ve hit their line. What’s your orders, Lieutenant? Johnny, Bull and George looked at her expectantly and Y/n felt the weight of the world on her shoulders.
“We hold them off for as long as we can, at least we can give the others a chance to pull back.” The men nodded at her, seemingly approving of her reply.
George continued to keep Winters and the battalion in the loop while the others continued to fire upon the inbound Panzer division. Mortar fire from Malarkey’s mortar squad littered the tree line in front of them and sporadic machine gun fire came in response.
“Winters says to pull back. The air force is bringing in air cover,” George shouted over the firing.
“Cease fire,” Y/n called, motioning for Johnny to head back first while supplying covering fire, then Bull and then George.
“What about you Lieutenant?” George asked, hiking his radio onto his back.
“I’ll be right behind you George, okay?” George nodded, keeping his head down and sprinting towards the cover of the tree line.
Now that she was alone Y/n wondered how she was meant to get herself out of this situation and without covering fire she was a sitting duck. They would have had her firing zeroed by now and mortars would surely start firing soon.
“Well, it’s not or never,” Y/n threw herself out from behind the tree, firing towards the German line as she retreated. Once the clip was empty she slung the weapon onto her back and turned tail, running towards George who was waving frantically at her.
“Y/N COME ON!” He screamed, grabbing her hand as she collapsed into him. “Christ Lieutenant, you’ve got a death wish,” he laughed, helping her up. Johnny nodded at her and Bull gave her his signature smile until their faces fell.
“Hey, what’s all the long faces for?” She laughed, “We just got out of there alive didn’t we?”
“Umm Y/n you might wanna sit down,” George caught her as her knees buckled beneath her. Johnny and Bull quickly moved in to help. Johnny pulled his aid kit out of his pocket, pressing a bandage firmly to the pool of blood at her side, before helping to lift her into Bull’s arms.
“Stay with us Little Lady,” Bull whispered as her heavy eyelids slid closed.
Tumblr media
“You know what they say, Dick,” Lewis sighed, rubbing his hand over his stubbly chin.
“What do they say, Lew?” Dick stretched his arms above his head, as he sat in the armchair beside him.
“Well sometimes, no matter how much you want it, some stories just don’t get a happy ending,” Lewis choked, the tears freely rolling down his cheeks again. He had cried so much in the last twenty-four hours that he wasn’t sure how he had any tears left to cry.
“She’ll pull through, Nix. She’s strong and she knows you are waiting for her. She’ll make it.” Dick patted Lewis on the back, raising from his chair and leaving Lewis to sit in his uncomfortable silence once more.
“Lewis?” Her voice was weak, her breaths shallow but her bright eyes watched him intently as he raised his weary head.
“Y/n? By God you’re awake. Oh thank God,” Lewis flung his arms around her neck, burying his head into her neck and crushing the air from her lungs. “Careful Lew, I’m a little sore,” Y/n whined, pushing Lewis gently to which he jumped away.
“I’m so sorry, Sweetheart. Are you alright?” Lewis sat back down in the armchair, his hand clutching desperately at hers.
“I’m a little sore,” she admitted, wincing as she tried to move.
Lewis jumped up again, “do you need me to get, Roe? Do you need some morphine?” Lewis' eyes were wild, searching her face for the unspoken answer.
“No. No, I'm alright. Just sore,” Y/n reassured him, reaching for his hand which Lewis took instantly.
“I was so worried I’d lost you,” Lewis admitted, his eyes full of tears but he couldn’t take his eyes off of her, too afraid that he’d blink and she’d be gone.
“I’m sorry I worried you, Lew. It was all going so well. I think I proved myself to them.”
Lewis chuckled, leaning forward to brush the hair that had fallen upon her face, “You, my love certainly did prove yourself. You are all the men of Easy can talk about. Hell, you’re the ‘Angel of Easy Company.”
Y/n laughed, “Well that’s something I suppose.”
“Just next time, maybe don’t get yourself killed over it alright? I don’t think I could go through that again,” Lewis looked at her poignantly and Y/n just smiled. Her fingers reached up, brushing her fingers over Lew’s cheek, cupping it gently.
“I promise, Lew. I won’t do it again but if I do at least I know I have you to come back to.”
Dick smiled from his spot in the doorway, he’d had a message from Colonel Sink but he couldn’t bear to interrupt this precious moment. Just for those few minutes, his friends were happy and that was all Dick could ask for.

"Did I hear that right?!"
Summary: You and George Luz are dating, you have a harder time showing affection whilst Luz does it more. One thing he hopes you say back is "I love you too." Because you have a hard time saying it back. But one day... That day was probably the best day he has ever had.
Warning: FLUFFY, VIOLENT AFFECTION<33
Tumblr media
You and Luz met in France, he was flirting with you, but of course, because no matter how much you tried before, you couldn't show affection and that irritated you. But Luz didn't mind, he loved the way your eyes looked at him and he loved the way you tilted your head to the side when he was talking. And you, loved his jokes and everything! The way he crossed his arms or leaned against the counter when he listened to you. But you couldn't say it or show it. He kept holding your hand at times and his knee bumped with yours at times. It was clear that he liked you, and you liked him.
A couple months later, you both made it official and started to date each other. He was super affectionate to you. Always wrapping his arms around your waist and usually initiating the kisses. But of course there was some things that you couldn't do, when he said. "I love you." You would either nod your head or say "me too." But he didn't mind it, as long as he got a response, he was happy with it. At times he'd go silly and either cling onto you, or shower you with kisses or maybe he'd cuddle you. He loved you and he wasn't trying to make it a secret. You also had boundaries that couldn't be crossed and of course, he wouldn't cross them if it meant he'd stay with you. You sometimes wondered why he chose you over another girl who could show affection or say 'I love you' back. But you were glad he chose you.
A couple days go by and he asks you if you wanted to go to the park, so you said sure. When you both got ready, he accidentally opened the bathroom, forgetting you were inside changing, you immediately covered yourself and he averted his eyes as quickly as he could. Normally, he would stare for a little but then look away. But you were different and he was scared of losing you. So he quickly looked away and shut the door. You were relieved that he wouldn't keep the door open and just stare at you. Because that made you uncomfortable. When you finished dressing up. You saw Luz leaning against the wall, waiting for you. "You ready to go, sunshine?" He asked in a calm tone. "Yeah, let's go." You said, not bluntly at all. He took your hand he walked out the door happily, happy to go to the park with you.
When you both arrived at the park, you both sat on a bench, still holding hands. How observing the beautiful day and the calm wind. Everything was peaceful. Maybe so kids playing football or frisbee but they weren't that loud. "You're beautiful, y'know that?" He said out of the blue. He sometimes complimented you with no context behind it. But you didn't mind it. "Thanks." But of course, it was hard for you to give compliments as well. So usually when you said a compliment that didn't sound like a lot, he would immediately smile, because he knew your little compliments were meant to mean big compliments. "It's really sunny today. Right?" You nodded slightly. "Yeah, it's a really nice day." You replied in a low tone. His hand was sweet and gentle, making sure his grip wasn't hard that it'd hurt you. He wanted to make sure you were comfortable around him. And it seemed to work in his eyes.
While you both were still at the park. You now had your hear resting on his shoulder, which by the way, made him silently doing a celebration because you were getting more comfortable with him. It went silent but that's when he heard you say a soft and quiet but enough for him to hear. "I love you." His eyes widened and he looked at you in excitement. "Did I hear that right?!" He asked, not in a big loud voice but loud enough that a couple people could hear. Then he started to hug you tight and kiss all over your face. "I love you too, my sweet!!" He was ecstatic and it felt like the best day ever for him! He pulled you up and he pulled you back to the house. He threw you on the couch and started to kiss you all over your face. It wasn't heated or anything that would lead to anything sexual. But after all the kissing you both cuddled. And for you, you couldn't believe you said it.. Not to mention you said it first! You felt happy that he was still respecting your boundaries even after hearing you say it. You loved him for it. You loved him.

It’s All About Trust
Joe Liebgott X Fem!Reader
Warnings: Angst, war, fluff (an attempt anyway I think), swearing, Briefly mention of reader being a medic, reader has a shit ton of siblings (relatable), not that many physical descriptions if any, mentions of death, normal Band of Brothers stuff
Sorry if this is bad. I’ve never written any BoB fanfiction and really have like hardly any writing experience at all so hopefully this isn’t horrible. Please give me feed back if you want. Thank you! Also sorry for the ending. It’s kinda abrupt but it’s the best I could get lol
Tumblr media
Bois Jacques is hell. A very very cold hell. Nothing could truly combat the cold that seeps into everyone around me. Not even the plainish slop they feed us in an attempt at food. Or in the current case, cold, hard “pancakes”, or that’s what Domingus says they are.
Don pokes at his and calls after our ever so kind cook, “Joe these smell like my armpit!”
“At least your armpit is warm.” Skip grumbles from Malarkey’s side as he holds his pancake up for emphasis.
“You want syrup with that?” Domingus sasses back to him.
“Joe, be honest, what’s in these things anyway?” Don asks the retreating man.
“Nothing you won’t eat, Malarkey.” He replies.
“I won’t eat Malarkey.” Spina shoots back quickly causing us all grouped up to let out a chorus of laughs.
Julian brings back the topic of Babe and Spina’s run in with a German on their search for 3rd Battalion. “Hey, maybe Hinkle would like your share, huh?”
This happens to hit my funny bone and I let out a snort leading to the rest of the men’s laughter to only further increase until Peacock comes around looking for Dike.
“Try battalion CP, sir.” I tell the man. The rest of us wait for him to walk away on his hunt for the company CO before we break our into giggles again.
“Try Paris.” Skip laughs.
“Try Hinkle.” Malarkey adds, only increasing our laughter and before I know it tears are pricking my eyes.
Spina begins his less than great German impression and I have to leave before I piss myself laughing.
I seem to run into a brick wall in my way back to my foxhole, tears of laughter still stinging my eyes.
“Sorry ‘bout that (y/n/n).” A deep southern voice speaks from above me.
I take a look and send a smile at the blonde who’s got me held by the shoulders.
“You’re all good Bull, no harm done.” I tell him as I step out of his hold. “Sorry about that.”
“No harm done.” He repeats before walking away with a smile sent to me.
I continue to make my way back to my temporary home of a frozen foxhole. I look down to find none other than Joseph Liebgott.
I’ve always had a soft spot for the rageful Jew. I don’t think it’s any specific thing that made me so drawn to him but rather his whole entire being.
On the other hand he’s never shown any direct attraction to me. Sure nearly all the men of Easy have sent me a glance at least once but I don’t blame them, I’m one of the few women they’ve interacted with past a single night in around 2 years. But past a glance none of the boys have soberly tried anything.
Especially Joe. He’s not unfriendly to me but he’s never really gone out of his way to interact with me. Not until now.
He’s sitting alone in my foxhole, hands tucked under his armpits, gun leaning in the dirt next to him, and his eyes intensely trained on the line.
“Joe? Did you get lost?” I ask him with a small laugh.
“Uh?” He looks up at me and gives me a small smile. “Not lost, just looking for someone to talk to.”
“Luz’s hole is like 2 over that way.” I told him pointing in the direction of the jester’s own hiding place.
“Well good thing I wasn’t looking for George then, yeah?” He says with his trademark smirk. “I can leave if you’d like me to, though.”
"You're fine, but can I ask a question?" I asked as I began the short descent into the frozen foxhole.
"Shoot away (y/l/n)." The Californian told me, looking back at the line across the cold, white field.
"Why are you talking to me? I'm don't mean to be rude but you've never put any effort into having any interaction with me." I asked sitting across from him and stuffing my frozen hands into my jacket pockets.
"I'm just trying to be friendly. No time better than the present, right? Do you have a problem with that? I can leave if you need me to." Joe had begun to get a little defensive but that's hardly surprising when he'll jump at a chance to be upset, whether isn’t reasonable or not.
"Why now? There's hardly a point in making friends when fucking Babe and Spina barely just ran from a Kraut fucking foxhole so excuse my confusion at your extremely sudden olive branch when we're all about to be sent home either on a stretcher or in an enveloped as a piece of shitty metal with our names stamped into it!" I grabbed my dog tags and shook them for emphasis. It took all of my self control to not start yelling or crying, but I could feel the sting of unshed tears at my eyes. "We're all going to be blown to kingdom come by all of this damned artillery." I whisperd.
"Hey. That's not true. We've made it this far but look at us. Sitting in this frozen hell hole and you're alive, I'm alive, and so is Bull and George, Don, Babe, Doc, Skip, Penkala, Perco, and Buck and Lip." He began listing some of the guys we had been with for so long. "I know it's scary and there's not a single thing I can promise you to make anything seem ok, because I'm scared and I have no clue what's going to happen even 10 seconds from now but one thing I can tell you that might make you feel slightly better is that you've made it this far. You made it through Sobel's shitty personalty, Normandy, Carentan, and I know that if you have made it this far without a scratch then what can take you down? You’re what, one of nine kids back at home, you managed to talk and work your way into the airborne and then continue to be an absolute badass throughout boot camp and combat!” He took a break to really look at me and I took that as an opportunity to defend myself and my feelings.
“I’m really flattered but don’t you think I’ve been too lucky? I’ve come so far with nothing more than a bruise and I’m sure the next thing you know I’ll be blown to pieces! I don’t know why I thought I could do this, Joe! I’m fucking terrified and there’s no where to go!” I can feel the tears beginning to well in my eyes and in a sorry attempt to stop them I look to the sky. “I don’t know what I’m doing here anymore.”
“Hey, you can’t go thinking like that. You’re going to make it out of here alive. I need you to believe that because trust me when I say that you are the toughest damned woman I’ve ever met in my life.” He scooted closer to me and wrapped his arm around my shoulders, pulling me into his side.
The tears couldn’t be held any longer and the dam broke, salty waves rolling down the sides of face into my hair line. A sob escaped my lips before I could muffle it with a fist that had been stuffed between my lips only seconds too late.
“I’m sorry.”
“No need to be sorry, (y/n), we’re all feeling it, you’re the only one brave enough to let anyone see it.”
I let out a scoff. ‘Brave’ is not the right word to use. “I’m pathetic. I’m sitting here crying, doing nothing to help anyone around me who has it worse. I’m a a medic for fuck’s sake, I shouldn’t be crying when I routinely see how bad I could have it.”
Joe had only pulled me closer and wrapped his other arm around me, essentially cradling my shaking form. “Don’t you see? That’s what makes you so brave, (y/n). You see all these men in so much pain and put yourself in harms way to make sure they get patched up and safe. You are completely allowed to be overwhelmed and scared and cold and any other feeling a person can have. Not one man here would blame you for being upset right now. They know that as long as you are safe so are they, because when shit goes down you’re always there to help us.” He was talking so softly and so gently that I couldn’t help but cry harder.
“Oh fuck.” I muttered , wiping at my eyes. “I’m sorry Joe.”
“You have nothing to be sorry for Doll.” He gave me an affectionate pat. “Just know that you are such a light in the dark here, and not one of the men in these woods would judge you right now.”
I gave him a weak smile and sniffed, wiping at my eyes and nose. “Thank you, Joe, really. I’m forever grateful.”
“Oh don’t mention it, just don’t go telling anyone that I give out cuddles, I can’t have my reputation ruined like that.” Joe snickered with his smirk and a pat to my side.
“Your secret is safe with me as long as you don’t go telling people I cry.” I tittered and wrapped my arm around his neck.
“Your secret is safe with me, (y/n).”
“How do I know you’re not lying to me?”
“It’s all about trust. I trust you, you trust me; that’s how this has to work, yeah?” I was nearly bumping noses with him and if I wanted to I could just lean in a little and kiss him. The thought quickly crosses my mind but part of me knows better.
“I trust you, Joseph Liebgott.” I meant it, with more of my heart than I thought was still there.

Was arguing with a lunter anti and they said it’s a gross ship bc Camila adopted Hunter, which she didn’t, and I said, going by your logic, lumity is gross too bc Camila said that she’s a mother of six. Their reply was that Amity had another family and Hunter didn’t, like?? What does Hunter not having a family have to do with anything? Camila treated everyone like her kids and Hunter only stayed with her temporarily. It’s not like she raised him and it’s not like he called her his mom.
I’m tired of the mental gymnastics these antis engage in to justify their biphobia and puritanism, and in this case it was in the comment section of a lunter animation too. These people just don’t have basic etiquette! What happened to seeing art for a ship you don’t like, ignoring it, and moving on?? I hope this fandom fizzles out soon bc this shit is unbearable.
Yeah, they really like just making up stuff and then, when you answer them with the same logic, gaslight you into thinking It's "different" bc of different stupid arguments, It's just funny, yeah
Also, since it's heavily implied that Hunter was adopted by Darius and even many of them do think Aladarius is canon, they just say themselves that Hunter is Amity's and Luz's "adoptive brother" at the same time, which would make Luz and Amity adoptive siblings themselves, but they just ignore it, like they ignore everything they don't like. And when you call this out, they suddenly change their words and then say stuff like "well, actually Luz and Hunter aren't really siblings, It's not canon, we just have made it up yeah... BUT YOU STILL CANT SHIP IT BC WE DON'T LIKE IT SO WE WILL CALL THEM ACTUAL ADOPTIVE SIBLING WHEN WE NEED THIS" I laugh every time

Lewis Nixon x Reader
Masterlist
Series Masterlist
Song Inspo: Soon You'll Get Better: Taylor Swift (feat. The Chicks)
A/N: thanks for being patient with this one, guys! it really hurt me to write this one. this is about the fictional portrayal of easy company on the show. nothing but love and respect for veterans on this blog!
Word Count: 4.8k
Summary: Easy finally reaches its breaking point, and (y/n) doesn't realize just how low that could be until tragedy strikes.
Warnings: main character death, intense grief, sorry for the pain guys
Tumblr media Tumblr media
JANUARY 10, 1945: BOIS JACQUES, BELGIUM: 0900HRS
“Hey Doc,” Skip whispered as Eugene walked by. “Come here!”
Gene crouched just outside the hole, peering down at (y/n) who was silently sleeping in his arms. “Warren, how ya doin’?”
“Doc, (y/n)’s cast is killing her. Do you have anything for the itch?” Skip asked quietly, concern creasing his brows. “She tried to tear it off last night.”
“Casts ain’t supposed to get wet. That’s why it's itchin’ so much,” he replied, adjusting his helmet with a grimace. “I’ll see what I can do. For now, keep her mind off of it the best you can. She really needs to go back to the hospital.”
Skip thanked him with a nod and then he was gone, his form blurring in the snowfall as he walked away. An exaggerated yawn echoed in the air, and George stretched his arms above his head.
“It’s somehow even colder than before,” he groaned, pulling his coat closer to his body.
Muck tugged the blanket around (y/n)’s shoulders and sighed, noticing her cradling her cast in her sleep. “Yeah. It always is.”
George caught his eyes. “How’s she doing?”
“Not good, Luz. Last night…” he trailed off, shaking his head. “I’m worried about her. After what happened with Captain Nixon and now this, I don’t know how much more she can take. Her arm isn’t going to get any better if she’s out here trying to pry her cast off.”
“What?” Luz asked, his eyes widening in disbelief. “She tried to pry it off? When?”
“Last night.”
Silence hung in the air as the duo pondered the situation. As much as they wanted (y/n) to be there with them, they knew that she’d be better off at the hospital, healing up properly.
Skip’s eyes floated to the frozen ground of the foxhole as he spoke sadly. “She needs to go back to the hospital.”
“Yeah,” Luz agreed. “She’s not gonna like it, though.”
The pair quickly became quiet as (y/n) stirred and blinked her eyes open, slowly becoming aware of her surroundings.
“Good morning, sleeping beauty,” Skip greeted from above her as she sat up.
George chimed in with a teasing grin. “We were starting to think you were going to sleep through the whole war.”
Laughter bubbled up from within her, and for a brief moment, the itch in her cast was forgotten. “Well, I can’t have that now, can I? What would you knuckleheads do without me?”
“Have some peace and quiet,” Penkala grumbled, squinting his eyes in the bright morning light. “How’s the wrist today?”
George and Skip shot him a pointed glare, and (y/n) sighed, looking down at her casted arm. “About the same, but it’s not bothering me right now.”
Wanting to steer clear of the subject, Skip sat up against the frozen dirt wall. “(Y/n), did I ever tell you about how I swam the Niagra River once?”
Alex ran a hand down his face with a groan. “Not this story again!”
“No, you didn’t tell me that,” she grinned, rolling her eyes.
Skip ignored Penkala’s outburst and continued his tale. “It was a bet, so I went ten miles up from the falls and started across. The current was so strong that it must have carried me at least two miles downstream before I got across. But I got across.”
(Y/n) stared at him in disbelief. “That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.”
“Oh, come on,” he defended. “Let me finish the story and then you can complain about how much of an idiot I am. These two have already said enough on the matter.
“I could always say more, Muck,” George chimed, smirking as his voice shook from the shivers that wracked his body.
“Whatever, Luz. Shut up and let me finish,” Skip grumbled. “Now, personally, I didn’t think it was all that stupid, but my mom, my sister, Ruth…they gave me all kinds of hell.”
The woman buried her face into her scarf, the scent…his scent…long gone as she envisioned his story in her mind. “Well, I would’ve, too! It was a stupid thing to do, Skip. Based on what you’ve told me, I bet Ruth was close to throwing you over the falls for doing something like that.”
“Well, luckily she didn’t,” he smiled, his voice softening as he looked down at the ground. “Faye was not happy.”
Seeing her friend so helplessly in love, (Y/n) couldn’t help but smile.
“Sweet Faye Tanner,” George drawled, winking at him.
Rolling his eyes, Skip kicked at George playfully. “Shut it, George.”
“Well,” Alex perked up. “As I said before…they had a point. You’re an idiot.”
The group broke out into chuckles, their icy breaths filling the foxhole. All of them seemed to get lost in their thoughts and silence hung over them. (Y/n) stared out at the frost-laden forest before them, seeing the carnage left by the constant shelling: splintered and fallen trees, splatters of blood against the white snow, and craters filled with frozen dirt. It all put an unsettled feeling in her stomach that she couldn’t quite shake, as if the world was waiting for the opportune time to flip her life upside down.
Her worries led her mind back to him. She couldn’t help but miss Lew, even though they’d fought. She also knew deep down that he didn’t mean the hurtful things that he said, but the sting of their argument still lingered. Apologizing was what she wanted to do, but the memory of her own outburst left her feeling embarrassed. (Y/n) sighed softly, vowing to herself that when the time presented itself, she would find a way to apologize and let Nix know that she still cared about him more than anything. For now, she waited, her mind filled with thoughts of the man she missed more than words could express.
“Hey, (y/n),” George called out into the silence. “We want to talk to you about something, but please don’t bite our heads off for it, alright?”
Curiosity coursed through her as she raised an eyebrow. “Okay…this sounds an awful lot like an intervention, guys. What’s going on?”
George nodded toward Muck, whose face wore a nervous expression as he spoke. “We think you should go back to the hospital.”
“What?” she asked, her voice tinged with irritation. “Why? I’m doing fine.”
“(Y/n), we know you’re struggling,” he said gently. “We also know that you’re not gonna get any better if you’re here in the cold with a sopping wet cast.”
As much as she hated to admit it, there was some truth in what Skip was saying. Taking a deep breath, she replied, “Look, I get it, okay? This cast is driving me crazy, but I can’t just leave. I’m not gonna leave you guys here.”
Alex chimed in, his voice filled with concern. “You need to heal. Doc said the same thing earlier.”
Muck raised a brow at him questioningly. “You heard that? I thought you were asleep.”
“I’m always listening,” he shrugged with a smirk. “Anyways, we’re just worried about you, (y/n/n).”
(Y/n) frowned as a mix of stubbornness and helplessness washed over her. She knew they had a point, but the thought of returning to the hospital and being separated from them didn’t sit well with her.
“I just need a bit more time,” she finally admitted. “I’ll get through it.”
Skip exchanged a worried look with George before he spoke, “We know you’re tough, (y/n), but sometimes the smart move is to take care of yourself. It’s not about abandoning us; it's about coming back a hundred percent.”
She turned her gaze to the ground, battling her inner conflict. “I’ll think about it, alright? Just give me a little more time.”
The trio nodded solemnly, realizing that she wouldn’t go unless forced. They had a decision to make, and Skip knew which one he’d make for Ruth. It was the same one he’d make for (y/n).

1900 HOURS
In the chill of their foxhole, Skip couldn’t shake his worry for (y/n). He got out of the foxhole with an “I’ll be back,” and a grunt as he made his way to one of the only people he knew could get her to see reason. The man breathed into his hands, trying to warm them among the constant pinprick sensation in them.
He pulled his rosary from his pocket, kissed it gently, and began to pray as he walked. “Please help us, God. Help (y/n) to see reason and get the help she needs. It's hard to see the people you love suffer, and I don’t know what else to do. I know you have the power to do anything, Lord, so please change her mind about this. Thank you for keeping us safe, and please continue to do so if it is your will, Father. Amen.”
When Skip made it to the Captain's measly shelter, he found Winters and Nixon pouring over maps in preparation for the upcoming objective. Hearing the crunch of his footsteps, Dick’s head shot up, and a blue-tinged smile formed on his face.
“Come on in, sergeant. What can I do for you?” he asked, folding the maps and laying them on a nearby table.
Skip returned the grin and walked in, taking his helmet off. “Well, sir, I actually came to speak to Captain Nixon.”
At his words, Lew raised a brow at his uncharacteristic serious expression. “Alright,” he replied, guiding Muck outside the tent for some privacy. “What’s going on?”
Skip hesitated for a moment, then decided to give it to him, straight. “It’s (y/n), sir. She’s been going through hell with that cast. Last night, she tried to take it off herself. I had to stop her, sir. Doc says she should go back to the hospital.”
Nixon’s brows furrowed in worry. He knew firsthand how stubborn and headstrong (y/n) could be, especially when it came to her own well-being. “She what? Why hasn’t she gone back to the hospital?”
Muck sighed, his breath visible in the air. “She doesn’t want to leave us, sir. You know how she gets.”
Lew clenched his jaw in frustration, his thoughts racing. “Where is she now? Is she okay?”
“She’s calmer now, but it’s still bothering her. It’s the worst at night,” Skip admitted. “We’ve tried to convince her to go back, but she says she’ll think about it. We all know she’s already made up her mind.”
Nodding, Nix’s face was etched with deep worry. He could imagine her struggling by herself, and it made his heart ache. “Alright, I’ll try to get her back to the hospital.”
The sergeant sighed in relief, grateful he was stepping in. “(Y/n) probably won’t be happy about it, but it’s for her own good. I’m worried it might be her breaking point, sir.”
Lew patted his shoulder with a nod, his brows pinched in concern. “Thanks for letting me know, Muck.”
He turned to leave but stopped and faced the Captain again with a deep breath. “Sir, I know this may be out of line, but I heard what was said between you last week. You never know what could happen out here, so don’t leave things unsaid.”
Before Nix could respond, Skip was gone, his figure disappearing into the haze of the snowy landscape. His words seeped into Lew’s mind, and he realized he had to speak to (y/n) immediately and make things right. Either one of them could be killed at any moment, and they were just wasting precious time not speaking to the other.
Returning to the tent, Nix grabbed his rifle and swung it over his shoulder. “I’ll be back, Dick. There’s something I’ve got to take care of.”
“You mean someone?” replied, a knowing smirk on his face.
Nix shrugged as he exited the tent. “Something like that.”
As he navigated the forest to (y/n)’s foxhole, he couldn’t help but dwell on their argument. He knew he had been harsh to her, even if he didn’t mean what he said. He’d called her ‘useless’ for crying out loud. That alone would hurt anyone, much less someone who’s wounded and trying their best to contribute despite that.
Finally, in the distance, he spotted Skip talking with Malarkey, Luz, and Penkala a little ways from their hole. Skip nodded at him, and led the group farther from the hole, wanting to give them actual privacy this time. Approaching her foxhole, he could barely see her huddled silhouette. She didn’t hear him approach, lost in thought or possibly asleep.
Lew sat down beside her and gazed at (y/n)’s sleeping form. The harsh cold couldn’t deter him from admiring the woman he loved as she lay there, wrapped in her coat and the warm scarf and gloves he had given her. Her features were softened by the dim light of the forest and the redness of her nose gave her an adorable charm that melted his heart.
He noticed her cradling her injured arm against her chest, the white of the cast peeking out from under her oversized coat and makeshift sock glove. “(Y/n)?” he called softly, his voice cutting through the stillness of the forest.
She stirred, her eyes slowly opening to meet his gaze. Surprise flickered across her face, and she shifted uncomfortably, wanting to meet his eyes but finding it hard. “Hi. I wanted to apologize…for how I acted the other day and how I’ve been acting. I know you didn’t mean it, but it did hurt, Lew.”
Lew felt his heart soften as he heard her words, a wave of relief washing over him. He knew she wasn’t one to apologize easily, and her willingness to do so meant a lot. “Thank you,” he replied quietly, “and I’m sorry too, for what I said. I love you and would never think you’re useless.”
With the tension lifting between them, their gazes finally locked. “I love you, too. I hate fighting,” she whispered, scanning their surroundings quickly. “I’d much rather do this.”
She snaked her good hand around his neck and pulled him closer, connecting their lips. As (y/n) and Nix’s lips met, the world around them faded into the background, and for that brief moment, it was just the two of them in their own world. No war, no Bastogne, no snow…only them. (Y/n) felt the warmth of Lew’s breath against her skin, and the gentle caress of his hand on her cheek sent warmth coursing through her body that she hadn’t felt for weeks.
As they pulled away, their breaths were slightly ragged, and the icy wind, which had been nipping at their cheeks, was now replaced with a comforting warmth. A soft, affectionate smile played on his lips, his eyes never leaving hers. She returned the smile, a sense of calm she only got around him washing over her.
With a gentle, lingering touch, Lew’s hand brushed her cheek, before dropping it to hold her hand again. “I’ve been worried about you, (y/n), and I’m not the only one. The guys are concerned, too.” Nix paused. “I know about the cast.”
“What about it?” she asked innocently.
Nix shook his head. “I know it’s bothering you, sweetheart. You don’t have to hide it. I also heard that you tried to pry it off last night.”
“What a traitor,” (Y/n) playfully scowled as she looked over her shoulder at Skip in the distance.
“I’m serious, (y/n),” Lew pleaded. “You know you won’t get better here.”
She sighed, looking down at the cast. “I’m not going back to the hospital, Lew. I won’t leave you or the guys. I can’t.”
“We’ll manage. And we’ll still be here when you get back,” Lew said as his fingers brushed her cheek, guiding her face to him once more with a voice full of worry. “Please.”
The sincerity in his voice pierced her heart, and for the first time in days, her wrist didn’t feel like the most significant pain. “I’ll think about it,” she conceded.
With a quick peck on her temple, he pulled her in for a quick hug, muttering in her ear, “If not for me, do it for Muck. He’s about worried sick about you.”
“He told me I remind him of his sister, Ruth,” (y/n) murmured into his neck.
Pulling away, a smirk quirked Lew’s lips. “Good, because I was starting to worry I had some competition.”
“Whatever,” she scoffed, rolling her eyes with a laugh. The pair stood to their feet and made their way toward the huddled group of men. “What did Skip say to you?”
Lew shrugged, his eyes staying forward. “Just that you were struggling and the guys were worried about you. I guess he thought I could talk some sense into you.”
“Good luck with that,” (y/n) chuckled as they neared the group.
Squeezing her upper arm gently, he peered down at her, his cheeks rosy from the frosty air. “Please think about it, for my sake…or Skip’s if that’s not enough. And be careful, you know I love you,” he whispered.
“I will, and I will. Love you, too,” she smiled, her wrist long forgotten as she was under his warm gaze. “Tell Dick hey for me.”
With a firm nod, he slowly turned and started back toward his tented foxhole. (Y/n) watched him go, her heart feeling lighter than before. Things were okay between them again, and it became one less thing she had to worry about.
A voice called her name, breaking her from her stare, and she turned to see Skip waving her over, a grin plastered on his face. Joining the group, she stood between George and Skip, the former in the middle of a great impression of Lieutenant Dike.
“Ah, 1st Sergeant Lipton,” he imitated. “You organize things here, and I’m gonna go for…help. I need to go polish my oak leaf clusters.”
The group broke out into laughter, and (y/n) raised a brow in confusion. “What?” she asked, unable to keep a goofy grin from her lips.
“(Y/n), you’re not gonna believe what I saw. So, you-know-who comes running up to Lipton. He’s got no helmet, no gear, no nothing, and then he says that.”
“What an idiot,” she laughed, throwing her helmeted head back slightly. “I can’t believe he’s still here.”
Skip wheezed beside her, almost doubling over in laughter. “Complete asshole,” he said between laughs. “That’s really good, George.”
Lip cleared his throat behind George and called out to him and beckoned him over. George bid his goodbye and went to talk to Lip, while (y/n), Skip, Don, and Alex did the same.
“Goodnight, goodnight all,” Mal remarked, walking toward his foxhole.
Skip wrapped an arm around (y/n)’s shoulder, calling out to his friends. “Yeah, see ya, Luz, see you Malark.”
The trio started to their foxhole in silence, but it was soon broken by Skip’s teasing voice. “Did your Captain talk some sense into you about going to the hospital?” he asked, squeezing her shoulder playfully.
“My Captain?” she teased. “I’m pretty sure he’s your captain, too, Skip.”
He raised his eyebrows skeptically. “Well, I’m not the one necking the guy.”
She gasped and quickly looked around, praying nobody else heard his comment. “Skip!”
“What?”
Alex chuckled from beside her as he pulled his beanie down over his ears. “Everyone knows it! None of us would ever turn you in, (y/n). You know that.”
“I know, I know,” she sighed, her feet crunching softly beneath her. “And to answer your question, Skip, I haven’t made up my mind yet.”
“(Y/n), come on. You’re putting yourself at risk of getting hurt again. Aaaand,” he drawled, “If you go now, you might be back in time to celebrate my birthday.”
“I can’t believe it’s a few weeks til the 31st,” she mused, peering up at him. “You’re turning 23, old man. What would you like for your present?”
“You going to the hospital and getting better would be the best birthday gift,” he answered softly, pulling her closer to his side.
The words hung in the air, resonating in (y/n)’s heart. As she looked at Skip, she saw the earnestness in his eyes and his brotherly smile, and a surge of emotions coursed through her. She realized that her stubbornness might not only be hurting herself but also the people who cared about her.
“You know what, Skip? I think I can work with that,” she smirked, elbowing his side. “Looks like you’re getting your wi-”
Before (y/n) could finish her sentence, the sky erupted in a deafening roar as artillery shells rained down upon them. Trees, splinters, and the earth trembled beneath their feet with each impact. The world turned to chaos as the air was filled with dust, snow, and the screams of their friends.
“Incoming!”
Without a second thought, Skip grabbed (y/n)’s arm and took off behind Penkala for their foxhole. With pounding hearts, they sprinted towards the safety of their hole, holding their helmets to their heads. The relentless explosions continued to rock the ground, and (y/n) would have lost her balance if it weren’t for Muck’s grip on her bicep.
Seconds later, they reached the foxhole just in time. The trio jumped down into the hole and immediately ducked in its cover. They peered over the edge at the German’s horrifying display of firepower as they were showered in dirt and wood splinters. Amongst the dust and explosions, they could make out a figure in the distance who couldn’t stay on their feet, falling to the ground every few seconds. They recognized it instantly.
“George!” (y/n) yelled. “Come on!”
Skip and Alex joined in, motioning for George to get in. “Luz!” they cried. “Hurry!”
She watched on for an agonizing moment as George scrambled to his feet but was then knocked down again, and she knew she had to do something. Jumping out of the foxhole, she sprinted toward George, her eyes locked on his figure. Skip reached out to grab her, but she slipped out of his grasp.
“(Y/n), no!” he yelled after her.
Skip’s heart raced as he watched her run off into the barrage, and panic ate at him. His protective instincts screamed at him to follow her, and in a burst of terror, he attempted to leap out of the foxhole after her. But before he could fully leave the hole, Alex grabbed him by the collar and yanked him back forcefully.
“Skip, you can’t!” Alex shouted, desperation filling his voice. “You can’t follow her out there!”
Muck’s body twisted and turned in a futile attempt to free himself from his friend’s grip, a mixture of frustration and terror etched across his face. Realizing he wasn’t getting to her, he yelled after the pair.
“(Y/n)! George!!”
As (y/n) dashed toward George, the world around her seemed to blur in the chaos of the artillery barrage. The deafening roar of exploding shells and the earth-shaking tremors filled the air, making it difficult to hear anything but the explosions and blood pumping in her ears. Every step through the snow-covered forest was a struggle, and her boots almost slipped on the icy ground.
Finally, (y/n) reached his side, her gloved hand wrapping around his arm in a vice-like grip. She yelled, but her voice was lost in the roar of the artillery. The dirt shook beneath them as another shell landed dangerously close, sending them both sprawling to the ground. (Y/n) and Luz frantically crawled forward on their hands and knees, their fingers digging into the frozen earth.
Back in the foxhole, Skip and Alex continued to scream for them, their voices somehow echoing among the chaos. Their pleas turned into frantic cries, “(Y/n)! George! Come on, get in here!”
With each painstaking crawl, the ground continued to shake as explosions sent dirt and shrapnel whizzing through the air. Her breaths came out in ragged gasps, and she kept her eyes on her friends ahead of them. The world around them seemed surreal, with bursts of blinding light and deafening explosions as the artillery barrage continued. It felt like an eternity had passed when they’d almost reached the foxhole.
“Come on! Come on, Luz! Hurry, (y/n/n)-”
The world seemed to blur as (y/n) and George saw a blinding light, followed by a colossal plume of dirt, debris, and flames engulfing their friend’s foxhole. The two friends who had been calling out to them just moments ago were silenced in an instant. (Y/n)’s surroundings slowed, and for a brief, excruciating moment, everything froze. The deafening roar of the artillery was drowned out by the sound of her racing heart. Her eyes widened, and her breath caught in her throat as she watched the horrifying scene unfold.
The realization hit her like a freight train, and her vision blurred as tears welled up in her eyes. Shock and disbelief passed through her, and her hands trembled uncontrollably. She clamped her gloved hand over her mouth, unable to comprehend what had just unfolded before her eyes. Skip and Alex were gone. Gone.
“No,” she whispered, her throat tight.
Reality slowly washed over them, and as another shell screamed towards them, George grabbed her arm and pulled her toward the nearest shelter, which happened to be Lip’s hole. Lip pulled (y/n) down into the hole first, wrapping her in his arms as Luz huddled next to them, the barrage continuing.
“Muck and Penkala,” George screamed.
Lip couldn’t hear him. “What?”
“Muck and Penkala got hit!”
As soon as the words left Luz’s mouth, a shell landed right behind their cover, sending the logs protecting them flying into the air. The men yelled, but (y/n) stayed silent. Her body trembled with each deafening explosion that rocked the earth, and her heart felt like it was tearing apart. The tears flowed uncontrollably, blurring her vision as she cried hysterically into Lip’s shoulder.
She was crammed between the two men, each covering her the best they could as the assault continued. After a few moments, the world stilled, and a haunting silence hung in the air, a stark contrast to the earlier chaos.
A whistling sound and a thud echoed through the foxhole, but (y/n) couldn’t bring herself to look up from her sheltered position. George’s movement beside her drew her attention, and she heard the familiar sound of a Zippo being opened, followed by the scent of cigarettes wafting through the air.
“(Y/n)? You okay?” Lip asked shakily. “You hurt?”
Lip’s concerned voice broke through the somber atmosphere, and he shifted to give her room to breathe. His question echoed in her ears, pulling her back from the brink of despair. She turned her tear-stained face towards him, her watery eyes shimmering in the moonlight. She attempted to respond, but all that escaped her was a shuddering gasp as she shook her head slowly from side to side.
“Skip and Alex,” she croaked, a sob racking through her body as she dropped her face into her hands. “They-”
Carwood’s heart broke for the girl, knowing how close she was to them. “I know, (y/n). I know.”
As she sat there in the foxhole, huddled with Lip and George, the weight of her grief bore down on her, and she couldn’t help but reminisce about the cherished moments she’d shared with her friends. The laughter that was always present in their company, the hilarious stories they swapped, the letters read, and the deep connection they all shared.
The realization that she’d never again hear Skip’s mischievous teasing or Alex’s sarcasm again unleashed a fresh surge of agony, leaving her feeling utterly distraught. The pain of knowing that Skip would never get to hug Ruth again, or experience the joy of marrying Faye Tanner pierced her very soul. The future he once envisioned had been cruelly snatched away.
He would never reach the age of 23, and Alex’s life would never extend to the milestone of 21. The cruel hand of fate had robbed them of their dreams and aspirations, leaving (y/n) with a grief-stricken heart, mourning not only their past but also the future that would never come to pass.

“I can’t believe you two idiots talked me into this!” I said, shaking my head as George and Frank ransacked the hen house for eggs.
“Come on chicken.” Cooed Frank to the clucking bird. “Listen all I said was do you want an omelette and you said yes.” He said while the chicken flapped furiously in his face as he handed it over to Luz who didn’t seem keen. Flinching away from the fury of its wings.
“Yeah and I thought you were going to make me one, not take me to the source!” I held out my helmet as he carefully placed the eggs inside.
“If this thing bites me Frank, I swear I’ll shoot it.” George said. We all swung around hearing the barn door being opened. A young woman looked shocked to see us stealing her goods. I gave a sheepish smile, as did Frank. I looked over to Luz who eyed up the poor girl.
“Guten Tag, frauline.” George blushed. I looked over to Frank who shook his head at our friend.
“Guten Tag." She replied timidly, leaving the barn in a rush.
“Hold on- hold.” George called to her, moving quickly from his spot.
“No, George, leave her alone!” I called to him as he passed me the chicken, who pecked at my hands. He hurriedly followed the girl out of the barn.
“George!” Frank and I called together. He sprinted after the girl who ran from him.
“Does he know that if she’s running away she probably doesn’t want to talk to him?” I asked Frank as he continued filling up my helmet with eggs.
“He says that he’s a ladies man. But sprinting after a lady doesn’t win them over.” I said the last part loudly so he could hear me. I handed my helmet to Frank. I sighed following Luz, Perco on my heels.
We found him cornering her in the bar, as she used a cow to hide behind.
“George leave her alone, can’t you see she’s scared.” I said, shaking my head, sending an apologetic look to the girl. Her eyes wide as she backed away from Luz.
“How about you leave me alone.” He said as he tried to talk to her.
“George I swear to god, leave her alone!” I told him sternly. But he didn’t listen. Frank sighed leaving me in the barn, I’m sure he was going to go and collect more eggs.
I marched over to him, grabbing him by his collar and dragging him away. “Emily! Let me go!” He cried trying to wrangle out of my grip. The girl took her opportunity darting forward quickly, slapping him in the face. I let go of him, covering my mouth in shock. She darted past us, giving me a look of thanks as she left. I burst out laughing.
“Shut up!” He said grumpily, trying to ease the pain on his cheek as he rubbed it.
“FRANK!” I called, running out of the barn, he was making his way out of the hen house.
“She fucking slapped him!” I cackled, Frank’s face cracking into a smile.
“Would you two shut it!” He was embarrassed. As Frank and I giggled. We started walking back to base, down the dirt road we had taken to come here.
“Just because you already have a lover.” George bumped me.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I feigned ignorance. It was now George and Frank’s turn to laugh at me.
“Oh please, you two are so obvious.” Frank said, smiling at me.
“Don, I love you, kiss me.” George said, mimicking me, as he batted his lashes and pouted.
“I have never said that, and I don’t sound like that!” I said, rolling my eyes, but still laughing at their silly banter.
“No, no. She sounds more like this. Oh Don, you're so handsome and strong.” Frank cupped his hands to his face acting shy, speaking in a high pitched voice. Before I could come back with a retort an army truck whizzed past us. I strained my eyes to see who was sitting in the front. Making out the dark thick eyebrows and familiar jaw of Nixon.
“That Captain Nixon?” George asked, confirming my suspicion as to who I thought it was.
“I think so.” Frank replied as we watched the car disappear down the road. I nodded in agreement with the two men.
“What the hell is he doing in his harness?” George queried.
“I don’t know. Maybe we jumped into Berlin, the war’s over.” Perco jokes.
“Yeah, huh?” George said, still rubbing his hurt cheek, making me laugh again.
“Still can’t believe she smacked you in the mouth.” I said as we all laughed again.
“Tell you what though, Germany’s looking like it’s gonna be pretty good fraternising territory, huh?” George said to Perco.
“Ew gross, George.” I said, pushing him in the shoulder as we wandered down the road.
—------------------
“Where have you been?” I was snuggled from behind by familiar arms.
“Hiding from you.” I said cheekily. Looking around to check the coast was clear before pressing a kiss to Don’s lips. “Perco said he was going to make me an omelette and then I was somehow beguiled into stealing eggs.” Don gave me a funny look as he chuckled. “But I’ll tell you what, George sucks at flirting. He sucks so much he got smacked in the face.” Don and I giggled together, at the thought of poor George with his sore face.
“Well, haven't you had an interesting morning.” Don said, tapping me on the chin. I grinned nodding at the man.
“What’s the plan for today then?” I asked Don as we walked down the street.
“Well I’m going to pick up my mail and then who knows.” Don shrugged. “I guess I’ll do whatever needs to be done. I haven’t had any orders today.” I nodded my head listening to him speak.
“What about you?” He asked.
“I was going to help Gene with the stock take and then lend a hand if they needed any help in the aid station.” I told him about my plans for the day.
“Well if you’re free later do you want to go for a walk?” He asked shyly.
“Are you asking me on a date?” I asked bashfully, stopping in my tracks, a teasing smile pulling at my lips. He grabbed my arm and moved me along beside him.
“Yes I am! So what do you say?” He said holding my hand, but hiding it behind his back. We weren’t technically allowed to be together, if we got caught we would be in trouble. But it was hard to hide our feelings, I just wanted to cling to his side and never let go and press a million kisses to his lips.
“Of course I say yes!” I smiled up at him, a blush rising to my cheeks. He still sent shivers down my spine with every smile and kiss. The butterflies in my stomach never stopped dancing.
We arrived outside the post office where the army post came in and out. “Sergeant Malarkey.” A soldier called, we dropped our hands quickly, as the man approached.
“I’ll get your mail, while you chat.” I said leaving him to speak with the man who had called him.
I walked into the building to see Ron standing at the counter, “Yes, just keep these for Emily. This is my pile, which I’m sending home and these are for her.” He slid his goods across the bench towards Vest who gave him a puzzled look. My brows furrowed, what was this conversation I just walked in on.
“Morning Emily!” Vest said in a chipper voice when he saw me standing in the doorway.
“Morning.” I smiled at the man, my gaze falling onto the Captain who turned slowly to look at me. A nervous expression appeared on his face.
“What can I do for you today?” Vest asked, walking closer to where I was standing. I pulled my gaze from Ron.
“Just here to pick up Malarkey’s post.” I told him. He smiled, turning away to grab his mail.
“You haven’t gotten any mail yet Lane.” He said as he turned back, handing me Don’s letters. I stilled, I could feel Ron’s gaze on the both of us. I knew if I looked over he was sending a warning glare to Vest who was oblivious.
“Ah, yeah. I don’t have any family.” I said sheepishly, feeling a blush rush to my cheeks. Vest’s face fell as he nodded slowly, looking as awkward as I felt.
“Oh!” He said surprised. I gave a tight lipped smile taking the letters we were both holding, his grip loose. Ron started heading for the door to leave. I turned quickly to speak to him but Vest beat me to it.
“Boy, your folks are sure gonna have quite a collection by the time you get home, sir.” Vest called to him, making Ron face us. A cheeky smile formed on his lips as he looked at us.
“Finders keepers.” He grinned and marched out the door.
“Thank you, Vest. See you around.” I called over my shoulder as I hurried out the door after Ron. In such a short amount of time Ron had gotten so far away. I ran to catch up to him.
“Captain! Captain!” I yell, trying not to get run over by the cars that flew down the street. I ran across the road finally reaching him.
“Sir!” I panted, as he walked briskly.
“Yes, Lane?” Ron asked casually, like I hadn’t just been chasing him down.
“Sir, what did you mean back there? What are you keeping for me?” I inquired, matching his pace. He stopped abruptly, making me crash into a person in front of me.
“Oh I’m so sorry.” I apologised to the man who glared at me. I couldn’t say anything more as Ron dragged me to the side.
“You can’t tell anyone this!” He said sternly. I nodded, unsure of what I was agreeing to keep secret.
“I am a collector as you know.” I nodded again, a collector isn’t what I would call it more like stealing, but sure a collector works as well.
“I have been sending things home, but I have put some aside for you.” Ron said in a hushed tone. I furrowed my brows in confusion.
“Why have you been putting things aside for me, sir?” I asked not sure of what he was implying.
“I’m worried about you Emily. You have no funds, nothing! I also checked and you’re not registered. There is no Emily Lane sectioned with Easy Company. So you aren’t even being paid for working here!” Ron’s face was a mix of concern and anger. I felt like I was being scolded by my mother for doing something dangerous.
“Sir, you don’t-” I started trying to tell him he didn’t have to worry about me.
“No! No, Emily, I don’t want to hear it. I am concerned and I am going to worry!” My mouth clamped shut as he cut me off.
“How are you going to go home and live?” He asked his face serious.
“I-” I started, unsure of how I was going to answer this question.
“You don’t know, do you? Well the stuff I have been keeping for you, you can sell. You won’t get a lot but it will be enough, hopefully.” He sighed, raking his hand through his hair. I didn’t know what to say, but tears welled in my eyes. He cared so much about me he had been putting things aside for me to sell so I could stay afloat after the war. I stepped forward hugging him tightly, his arms wrapped around me. I stepped back again before someone saw.
“Thank you Ron.” I smiled sweetly at him, he shook his head smiling back at me.
“I have no idea what I’m gonna do with you.” Ron reached out patting my shoulder.
“You’re too nice to me. What about your reputation?” I asked cheekily, a wry grin forming on his lips.
“It’s ok, the men know if they hurt you at all, my reputation still stands. Especially that Malarkey! You tell him, won’t you Em.” He smiled warmly, tapping me under the chin, before disappearing into the crowd. I realised that even Captain Speirs had caught onto the connection between Don and I. I blushed profusely, we weren’t as subtle as we thought we were.
—---------------------
I sat staring up at Nix who read the news to the group of men I sat with. I had been watching George and the other guys play cards. I had been banned from playing, since the last time I lost so badly I had to give up cigarettes and money I didn’t have. Poor Don had to pay my debt which he wasn’t happy about.
“That was three packs of smokes! Why did you keep playing?” He said annoyed but still handed over the goods.
“I’m sorry I thought I could win them back!” He rolled his eyes as I pouted, “I’m sorry, ok, so sorry.” I kissed him.
He huffed but a small smile tugged at the corner of his mouth, “You love me! Don come on!” I teased, as he tried to fight from smiling at me.
“Smile if you love me.” I grinned in his face, poking at his cheeks. He burst out laughing, “Fine! I love you, but no more poker! You got it?” He said pulling back the pack of smokes I needed.
I nodded, “Yes, yes. I swear no more poker!”
So yes, I was watching the poker, not playing, even though they all tried to goad me into it.
“Come on, I need a win. Emily, play.” George nudged me.
“No George, I am not playing just so you can win!” I shook my head, crossing my arms over my chest. He groaned, he had been trying to convince me for a solid five minutes.
“I’m sure that you’ll all be happy to know ‘Oklahoma's’ still playing on broadway.” Nix announced amused. A cheer went around the group, I cheered weakly unsure of the play Oklahoma but still joining in on the fun.
“Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweeping down the plain and waving wheat can sure smell sweet when the wind comes…” George started singing, as the men joined in with him. Nixon laughed along pretending to be the conductor at the front of the group. George leaned over to me as he sang, nudging me. I smiled at him laughing, not joining in on the singing as I didn’t know the words. George motioned for the men to stop singing, but the soldier in front of him, a replacement, didn’t see him.
“Right behind the rain!” The replacement finished the song in his high voice enthusiastically. Sending the other soldiers into fits of laughter.
“Aw, don’t be mean.” I prodded George as he chuckled.
“O’Keefe are you sitting on your bayonet there?” Christenson asked the man, the other’s chortled at his joke.
“Why don’t you leave the singing to Luz, or even Lane. Heard you were a good singer.” Christenson turned to look at me. I shook my head profusely.
“Oh no, I don’t know what you heard but I would leave the singing to Luz.” I raised my hands in defence trying to get the attention off me.
“Oh don’t be so modest.” Luz grinned at me, I sighed, his grin could only mean one thing. He had an idea.
“No seriously!” I started, pointing at Luz trying to get him to turn off his I’m-gonna-fuck-with-you-face.
“Why don’t you give us a song, I didn’t see you joining in with us.” Christenson smiled, Luz grinning at him.
“No.” I shook my head, chuckling awkwardly.
“Yeah, sing!” Luz prompted again.
“No, no!” I looked at both of them silently begging them to drop the game they were playing.
“SING! SING!” George cheered, looking around to the other men, who also joined in. I sat there red in the face as they chanted at me to sing.
“FINE! Fine, I will sing.” I stopped them from yelling. They all quietened, leaning in slightly with eager faces. They all look so proud they had peer pressured me into doing this. I cleared my throat, a wry smile pulling at my lips.
“All you ladies, pop your pussy like this, shake your body, don't stop, don't miss. Just do it, do it, do it, do it, now lick it good, suck this pussy just like you should, right now lick it good, suck this pussy just like you should, my neck, my back, lick my pussy and my crack.” I sang loudly, grinning widely. The faces of the men dropped from coy smiles to looks of pure horror and shock. Nixon from the front of the group keeled over in hysterics. George leaped forward covering my mouth. I pried his hand away, singing even louder.
“Shhh, stop it!” George covered my mouth again, muffling my singing. “She’s a strange one.” He said chuckling embarrassed. I laughed behind his hand, I had played him at his own game. George finally let me go after ensuring I wasn’t going to sing again.
“I’m sorry, miss, what does ‘pop your pussy’ mean?” O’Keefe asked in his sweet voice. I covered my mouth to stop myself from bursting out laughing.
“You’ll understand when you’re older.” George said, motioning him to turn and face the front again. George sent me a kick to the shin.
“What you asked me to sing!” I giggled as he shook his head but he couldn’t help the smile that formed on his face.
“Aww, Rita Hayworth’s getting married.” Nixon sadly tells the group, who all moan and groan.
“Oh, Rita say it isn’t true.” Luz jokes. Nixon mumbles while flicking through more of the notices.
“Wartime news. Resistance in the Ruhr pocket’s crumbling. It looks like there might be a breakout in Remagen.” Nixon reports, the men acknowledging the good news, letting out some hearty cheers.
“Apparently the Krauts forgot to blow up one of their bridges when they headed back over the line. I guess the boys in the 17th Airborne did ok after all.” Nixon nodded.
“Eh, forget it. We’d be in Berlin by now, sir. If it was us instead of them, huh?” George boasts, sending the men into another round of more jovial cheers.

At this point, does Luz ever sleep alone? Or do Amity and Hunter kind of have an unspoken agreement that someone should always be with her??
it's Pretty Rare for luz to sleep alone, if it ever happens. this ask got me thinking about it and going.... waugh....
i'm Very soft for the thought that, like. amity starts checking hunter's schedule. and mysteriously showing up whenever he's doing a night shift. aka when he can't sleep with luz because he's guarding her door.
amity being a totally-not-emotionally-involved cat about it like "i got a bad feeling about my roomies so i'm sleeping here tonight," and it's only like the fourth or fifth time it happens that hunter realizes Oh. this is not a streak of random uncharacteristic paranoia. this is amity making sure someone is near luz while she sleeps.
i don't think luz would pick up on it for a while because she's so certain that amity and hunter's whole Thing is, like.... a self-isolated relationship completely unrelated to her. amity thinks she's being really obvious in her friendship overtures and luz cannot read any of her cues at All. autism4autism.

A/N: here's chapter two, guys! thanks to everyone who responded to the first part! y'all made my day! without further ado, enjoy! hbo owns the rights, and this is about the fictional portrayal of easy company on the show. nothing but love and respect for veterans on this blog!
Summary: Operation Overlord is upon Easy Company, and the brave paratroopers get their first taste of war.
Word Count: 3.6k
Warnings: mentions of death, blood
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hundreds of tents lined the muddy fields surrounding the Upottery Airfield in preparation for Operation Overlord. (Y/n) found a dry spot amongst 2nd platoon and laid out all of her supplies. Looking at the various grenades, mines, and other random items, she groaned. “How am I supposed to put all of this in a pack? It’s ridiculous!”
“Tell me about it! ”Joe Toye scoffed from her right, staring down at his pile. “I’ve got a three-day supply of ‘K’ rations, chocolate bars, charms, candy, powdered coffee, sugar, matches, compass, bayonet, entrenching tool, ammunition, gas mask, musette bag with ammo, my webbing, my .45, canteen, two cartons of smokes, Hawkins mine, two grenades, smoke grenades, Gammon grenade, TNT, this bull, and a pair of nasty skivvies!”
Perconte rolled his eyes, tired of Joe’s rant. “What’s your point?”
“Come on,” Toye fumed. “This stuff weighs as much as I do! Probably twice as much as (y/l/n).”
“Yeah, yeah,” she chuckled as Joe continued.
“I still got my chute, my reserve chute, my Mae West, and my M-1.”
Frank got up and walked past the group, calling over his shoulder with an amused expression. “Where are you keeping your brass knuckles?”
“I could use some brass knuckles,” Toye sighed, sitting back on his heels.
(Y/n) finished readying her pack and attempted to lift it over her shoulder with a grunt.
“You and me both, Joe,” she gritted, failing the first few tries.
The fourth time, it weighed considerably less, and she was able to wobbly sit it on her shoulder without tipping over. A proud smile grew on her face, but when she turned and saw who was there, her lips formed a fake pout.
“Nix, you know I could’ve done that by myself?”
The officer laughed, his bright smile making an appearance. “Sure, I thought watching you fail three times was enough.”
Realizing he just admitted to watching her, he shifted from foot to foot and cleared his throat. “Two years. Two years of training led us here. Crazy, right?”
“Yeah,” she murmured, looking around at all her fellow soldiers. “I can’t believe it’s been that long.”
“Well, time did seem to crawl by when we were with Sobel.”
“Absolutely. I still remember his dumbfounded face when Luz impersonated Major Horton. It was the best day of my life.”
Vest came by with pamphlets, handing them to every soldier, announcing they were from Colonel Sink.
“George,” (y/n) called. “Can you do Sink?”
“Does a wild bear crap in the woods, son? Uh, sweetheart?” He corrected, cringing. “Doll? Your majesty? Great and mighty (y/n)?”
(Y/n) raised her eyebrows at him, smirking. “Nice try.”
Cracking a smile, he held up the paper and began reading it as the Colonel. “Soldiers of the regiment, tonight is the night-,” his voice lowered, becoming serious as he continued. “-of nights. Today, as you read this, you are en route to the great adventure for which you have trained for over two years.”
The message hung in the air as each paratrooper took it in. They were going to war. The realization washed over (y/n) like a bucket of ice water, and her mind flashed with the faces of the men she’d come to call brothers.
Don, George, Skip, Alex, Frank, Lip…
It could be the last time she saw some of them.
“Hey,” Nix smirked and pointed at the various mohawks Lieb had given some men, oblivious to her anxiety-ridden mind. “I think you should try that hairstyle.”
She rolled her eyes and playfully smacked him on the chest. “Whatever.”
When he didn’t reply, she followed his line of sight to Lieutenant Meehan, who stood atop a jeep. ”Easy Company! Listen up! Gather around me.”
Once Easy was fully gathered, he continued. “Now, the Channel coast is socked in with rain and fog. High winds on the drop zone. No jump tonight!”
Grumbles broke out from the men as they looked at each other in disbelief.
“The invasion has been postponed. We’re on a 24-hour stand-down. Drill sergeants, take charge.”
(Y/n) looked up at Nix as he lit a cigarette, shaking her head with a groan. “Great.”
“What?” He shrugged. “Can’t put up with me for another 24 hours?”
“You know what? You’re insufferable, Nix.”
Tumblr media
JUNE 6th, 1944: UPOTTERY AIRFIELD
The channel cleared the next day, and the jump was back on. (Y/n) removed her helmet and grabbed the grease paint from George’s outstretched hand.
“I hate this stuff,” she grumbled, twisting off the cap.
She felt someone take the small can from her hand and recognized the culprit by their low chuckle.
(Y/n) turned to face him with a playful scowl. “Why are you so immature, Lewis?”
“Lewis?” He gasped, a hand flying to his chest. “Oh, I’ve really done it now.”
Her scowl broke as she shoved him lightly. “Shut up.”
“See, I think you’re overthinking this,” he stated, holding up the tin. “All you have to do is get a glob,” he scooped a few fingers into the can. “-And rub it on your face, like so.”
To (y/n)’s dismay, he quickly reached out and smeared the paint down her cheek with a proud smirk.
“See? Voilà.”
Mouth hanging open, she snatched the can from him, hardly concealing her newly formed amused smile. “I hate you,” she deadpanned as she started toward the rest of her platoon.
His hand reached out and grasped her wrist. “Hang on. Let me fix it.”
“Fine,” she huffed.
Lew knew her well enough to see that it was taking all her willpower to keep the corners of her lips from curling into a smile. He thought it was an admirable attempt, but he could see straight through her.
What he didn’t expect was her glare to drop completely when he lightly tugged her closer by her wrist. An unreadable expression passed over her face, and Lew discovered he might not be able to read her as well as he thought.
Peering down at her, he softly brushed her (y/h/c) flyaways from her face before leaning down to be at eye level with her. (Y/n)’s breath hitched slightly at the gentle touch, and she looked up to meet his eyes.
“Don’t make me look like a raccoon, okay?” She whispered, nervousness flowing through her veins.
With a nod, he got some paint on a few fingers and cupped her jaw with his other hand before making lines across her forehead and cheeks. Tilting her face up softly, his touch trailed down her nose down to her lips. Nix’s gaze stayed there for a moment, swallowing thickly as he noticed their curve and the slight pout they were shaped in.
‘It would be so easy to lean in and…stop,’ he caught himself.
“Uh, all done,” he murmured, dropping his hands to his pockets.
(Y/n) blinked, coming down from the high of his touch. “Thank you,” she replied, her gaze locked with his. “Do you need any help with yours?”
Snapping out of his daze, he smiled bashfully. “I’ve got it.”
A few seconds later, Dick approached them, all geared up and ready to go. “It’s time.”
D-Day had begun.
Tumblr media
Staring at the solemn faces of Skip and George across from her, the endless possibilities of what could go wrong flooded her mind as her stomach began to churn.
What if their stick blew up?
What if she was captured?
What if she was killed?
(Y/n) looked up at the sleeping man beside her, admiring his face in the dim light of the plane. Her eyes followed the curve of his nose down to his parted lips as soft breaths passed through them. Even covered in grease in a dark C-47, he was still breathtaking.
What if he was killed?
When they first met in that putrid-smelling mess hall in Toccoa, (y/n) never would have guessed what would become of the pair. The mysterious aura that first drew her to him was quickly wiped away after a few months, revealing a kind, but complicated, man who was sometimes too smart for his own good.
He was there to vent to when Captain Sobel revoked her weekend pass because her hair was “too long,” and was simply always there to support her. Through the new COs, new bases, and even new countries, he’d been a constant. Over the last two years, he’d been there for her, and she realized that if anything happened to him, she wouldn’t know what to do.
Sure, she was close with the other men in Easy, especially 2nd platoon, but those relationships were… different. Her heart didn’t skip a beat when George Luz or Chuck Grant walked into a room. Their smile didn’t cause heat to rush to her cheeks.
He was her best friend. There was no other way to describe it.
But do best friends look at each other the way they do?
Tumblr media
Her thoughts continued to run rampant for the next hour as the paratroopers got closer to their destination. To her left, Tab was deep in thought, as well, pulling at his bottom lip as he usually did when thinking. Pulling herself from her thoughts, (y/n) nudged him with her shoulder.
“So, I heard you got a present from home.”
He dropped his hand to his lap and grinned as he fished something from his bag. “Yeah, courtesy of the Kokomo police department.”
Floyd showed her the revolver with a proud expression. “It feels good to have a little bit of home with me.”
“That’s great, Tab. I’m glad you’ve got support like that from home.”
“What did your folks have to say about you joining up?” He asked.
(Y/n) took a deep breath before answering, willing the memory from her mind. “They weren’t thrilled, that’s for sure.”
He elbowed her side gently with a chuckle. “Well, we’re all real glad you decided to join this mess. Who else is gonna keep all of us straight?”
Laughing to herself, (y/n) leaned her helmet back against the rumbling wall of the plane, wishing sleep would welcome her soon. Her eyes shot open after a few minutes when the aircraft shook with turbulence. Nausea crept up her throat at the movement, and she groaned at the realization she wasn’t going to get any rest.
Time seemed to stretch on forever sitting on the hard metal seat of the plane. Some of the other men started to rouse and have small conversations around her, but all she could think about was her parents. Could they stand to lose another child?
Tears burned her eyes as her mind replayed the moment they heard the news about Pearl Harbor and her brother’s fate. Her mother’s wails when she collapsed onto the floor beside the radio. The deep ache in her chest didn’t seem to go away with time, and she doubted it ever would.
(Y/n) was pulled from her thoughts by a gentle hand on her shaking knee.
“You’re gonna be okay, (y/n/n).”
Lew.
“Yeah,” she sighed, furiously blinking away her tears. “I’m not worried about myself, though.”
“Don’t worry about me, alright? Stay focused on yourself.”
(Y/n) smirked and raised an eyebrow. “What made you think I was worried about you, mister ‘yale know-it-all?’”
At that moment, Nixon was thankful for the dark plane, for she couldn’t see the flush that crept across his cheeks. “Only by the kind way you speak to me,” he retorted, rolling his eyes.
Within seconds, his face became serious. “But I mean it, (y/n). Please be careful.”
“I will, Lew. You too, okay?” She replied, grasping his hand atop her knee.
Their conversation was cut short by the red light flashing on beside Dick. Nodding at each other, they prepared for what was about to happen.
“Get ready!” Lieutenant Winters yelled above the rumble of the plane. “Stand up! Hook Up! Equipment check!”
Following orders, they stood, hooked up, and started checking their helmets, followed by pulling on the harnesses of those in front of them. George stood between Nix and (y/n) in line, separating the pair.
“Don’t enjoy this too much,” George jeered back to her as she checked his equipment.
Through his humor, she could see the fear that each of them felt.
Dick’s voice filled the plane again. “Sound off for equipment check!”
“Ten okay!”
“Nine okay!”
“Eight okay!”
“Seven okay!”
Hearing her heartbeat in her ears, (y/n) attempted to push her fear deep down.
“Six okay!” Chuck yelled, tapping her on the shoulder.
(Y/n) repeated the motion for George, shouting. “Five okay,”
“Four okay!”
“Three okay!”
“Two okay!”
“One okay!” Winters finished, looking out the jump door.
Within seconds, the cloud cover dissipated, and explosions filled the air, violently tilting the plane sideways. (Y/n) lost her balance and fell back onto her seat with a curse. Luckily, Chuck grabbed her harness and hoisted her back on her feet in front of him.
As the plane continued to shake beneath their feet, she looked through the small window at the stick beside them just in time to see it get hit and go down in flames. Her mouth went dry at the sight, and she prayed that they wouldn’t share the same fate.
“Let’s go, let’s go!” Someone yelled at the back of the plane.
Lip turned behind him. “Does that light look green to you?”
The man didn’t get to respond as gunfire ripped through the plane, peppering him with shrapnel.
“I’m hit!”
Among the chaos, the green light flicked on, and Winters called out to them. “Let’s go!”
Without hesitation, he jumped out the door, followed by Gene, Lew, and George. Following Luz, (y/n) didn’t even look before pushing herself out the door.
The first thing she felt was the wind whipping at her equipment as she fell through the air. Anti-aircraft shells exploded around her, adding to the deafening cacophony surrounding her. Explosions, screams, gunfire…it was a sound she’d never forget.
Even with her parachute deployed, the ground was fast approaching. To her panic, she couldn’t see her DZ anywhere. To make matters even worse, the wind guided her toward the dense forest instead of one of the many open fields surrounding her. She tried to pull up on the risers to change her direction, but it was too late. Within seconds, she flew into the tall European oak trees she tried so desperately to avoid.
All air left her lungs as she slammed into a tree, sending her falling through the branches. The sound of snapping wood filled her ears and she hissed at the sharp stings that covered her body as she fell.
With a jolt, her descent was abruptly stopped, causing her to swing into a nearby trunk with a thwack. (Y/n) groaned at the impact, feeling pain seep into her already bruised and battered body.
“Great,” she hissed, looking up at the tangled chute. “Of course, I landed in a freaking forest.”
Seeing she was only a few feet off the ground, (y/n) let out a sigh of relief and reached for her knife. When she looked down, she cursed at the missing bag that was supposed to be attached to her leg.
‘At least I didn’t put anything important in there,’ she thought.
The (y/h/c) quickly cut herself free of the chute and fell through the air again, landing on her feet with a wince. Even though she couldn’t see herself, she knew she had to look rough. The stinging from various cuts and scratches torso, arms, and legs were a dead giveaway to her appearance.
Pulling out her M1, she quietly made her way to a clearing better illuminated by the moon. She stayed near the edge, wary of being seen, and used her compass and map to try and figure out where she was. After a few minutes, she discovered she was a few miles west of the rally point. Just as she was about to move, a drip of red on her map stole her attention. (Y/n) took off her helmet and began to run a shaky hand through her grimy hair when a sharp pain flared from her temple, making her groan at the searing sensation. Pulling her hand away, she gasped to see it covered in dark red.
The paratrooper quickly grabbed a bandage and gritted her teeth, tying it the best she could.
“Head wounds bleed the most,” Doc Roe had said in a medic seminar. “You’re gonna go through bandages quick.”
She gently placed the helmet back on her head and took a deep breath. “You can do this, (y/n),” she muttered under her breath as she started moving east toward the rally point. “You can do it.”
She’d made it to the ground, but she wasn’t out of the woods, yet.

D-Day Plus Three: Sainte-Mère-Eglise, France
Since Nix finally made it to Sainte-Mère-Eglise on June 7th, his eyes searched the crowd for one face. Every day, he kept a constant check on who arrived and who they’d seen or heard from, and for two days, he couldn’t rest.
On the third day, he overheard some men from the 82nd.
“Did you see the broad?”
On instinct, he rushed out of the makeshift company CP onto the street filled with exhausted paratroopers, ignoring the concerned looks from the men as he quickly made his way to the front of the town.
“Thank God,” he whispered, seeing her wobbly figure from a distance.
Her downcast eyes didn’t see him approach as she dragged her feet in the mud, too tired to even pick them up.
“You’re late to the party,” Lew chuckled, trying to mask his relief.
Despite the ringing pain in her head, her eyes shot up to meet his. When their gazes met, she let out a breath she didn’t know she’d been holding. He made it.
A tired smile grew on her blood and dirt-covered face. “Nice to see you, too, Lew.”
Extending his arm out to her, Nix pulled her into a tight embrace. It was like his mind needed physical reassurance she was there.
“I’m so glad you’re okay,” he murmured into her helmet.
Leaning into his chest, she let the rhythm of his heart calm her fear. Even in a warzone, she felt safe in his arms. “I was worried about you, too.”
A chuckle reverberated through his chest. “So you were worried about me, huh?”
Pulling back to look at him, (y/n) smirked. “I take it back.”
His playful expression changed to concern as he noticed her pale face and the blood beneath her helmet. “Hey, what happened? You’re bleeding.”
(Y/n) ducked her head to the side. “I’m fine, Lew. Really.”
“Come on, let me see,” he urged, gently unclasping her helmet.
A hiss left him, seeing the blood-soaked cloth haphazardly tied around her head.
“(Y/n),” he sighed, one hand tilting her jaw to see the wound while the other peeled back the bandage. The gash ran from her right temple to just above her ear. “This is deep. You’re gonna need stitches. Let’s go to the aid station.”
His tender touch left her speechless. “Ok-okay,” she whispered, following him to the medic tent.
The coppery smell of blood hit her like a ton of bricks the second she entered the tent. Men were lying on cots, missing limbs, and crying in agony. (Y/n) froze, unable to tear her gaze from the carnage before her. A guiding hand on the small of her back urged her to keep walking.
“Come on, (y/n/n). This way,” Lew muttered.
He led her into another tent that was less crowded and sat her down on a nearby cot. “I’ll go find Doc. Stay here.”
Laying back on the cot, (y/n) allowed her body to fully relax for the first time in almost three days. Soreness gnawed at her muscles, leaving behind a dull ache that drained all of her energy. Within a few minutes, her eyes began to droop, and sleep finally welcomed her.
“She’s in here,” Lew said, Doc Roe in tow. “She’s got a nasty cut on her head.”
The cajun nodded. “Alright, I’ll take a look. You know head wounds bleed a lot.”
Walking into the room, their expressions softened at her curled-up form on the cot. “Is it okay if she sleeps,” Nix asked, crouching next to her.
Grimacing, Roe shook his head. “I really should check her head, sir.”
With a nod, Lew gently shook her shoulder. “Hey, (y/n/n). Doc’s here to check your head.”
She weakly groaned and sat up slowly. “I think I could sleep for a week.”
Chuckling, Gene held his index finger up in front of her face. “Follow my finger.”
After a few seconds, he sighed, grabbing a suture kit from his satchel. “Doesn’t look like you have a concussion, but that cut’ll need stitches.”
Roe carefully cleaned the wound as (y/n)’s eyes screwed shut. “You ready?” He asked.
Keeping her eyes closed, her hand shot out beside her, grasping onto Nixon’s hand tightly. “Lew, please talk to me. Say anything, I don’t care, just talk.”
He squeezed her hand in response as she let out a hiss when the first suture pulled through her split skin.
“When I was in college…”
With Lewis Nixon’s warm and reassuring hand in hers, along with his distracting words, the pain became bearable. In the small medic tent in Sainte-Mère-Eglise, Eugene smiled to himself, witnessing the intimate moment between the two.
“Ce sont des idiots.” He muttered to himself. “Des idiots en mal d’amour.”

~~~~~~~
You weren’t the type to take being treated like a doormat. You were raised to find your place amongst others regardless of gender. You earned your respect because you did your job and you did it well, not because you were pretty and the guys wanted to bed you.
It was heavily frowned upon that women be on the front lines alongside men, but when nurses and medics started to get caught in the crossfire, they resorted to allowing females to do just about everything men did to fill the gaps. You had been assigned to Easy Company right after Toccoa, and most of them were less than receptive to say the least.
Eugene Roe was grateful to have an extra set of hands. Don Malarkey, Skip Muck, and George Luz were very taken with your sense of humor so they warmed up to you rather quickly. Joe Toye, Bill Guarnere, and Babe Roe took some time, but when you tackled Bill to avoid getting blown up by enemy artillery, their demeanor towards you made a complete 360.
Tumblr media
Easy accepted you as one of their own…except for one: Joseph Liebgott. He was the most ornery son of a bitch you ever met. He always found a reason to trash talk you, or find fault in anything you did. All because you were a ‘broad,’ as he referred to you. The guys tried to defend you but his opinion never changed about you.
You learned to just avoid him unless he needed medical attention. He did alright not getting hurt up until you guys posted in Schoonderlogt, Holland in October 1944. He had been on patrol late one night and returned with an angry gash on the right side of his neck. One of the other patrolmen they brought back, Alley, had been hit by German gunfire and needed immediate attention.
They set Alley onto a table for when Doc got there
"Boyle, get Doc." Winters instructed then looked at Liebgott, "Where?"
"Crossroads." Liebgott replied. You notice he took a dressing and pressed it against his neck.
"Well, if it wasn't for your loud mouth-" he started to accuse Joe.
"-Hey, you know what? Back off!" Liebgott shot back as Roe pushed through the gaggle.
"Get the boots off, elevate...Lieb use the sulfur... Doc directed but noticed Joe’s neck.
“Lieb, go see Y/L/N and get that checked out.” Doc added.
“Yeah, no thanks, Doc, I’m good.” Liebgott said all too quickly with disdain.
“Joe, I wasn’t askin’ ya. It needs to be cleaned and dressed properly, it can get infected then you’ll have a bigger problem to deal with that will take you off the line. Go. I ain’t got enough hands to help ya.” Doc said sternly.
Liebgott released an irritable huff before pushing through the group to find where you were.
You had already grabbed gauze, dressings and sanitizing fluid when you heard Doc scold Joe about getting his neck looked at. He sat on a bale of straw waiting for you to tend to him. You spread out the supplies and examine his neck wound. You reach out to gently move his head to the left to get more light on it and he dodged your touch.
“What the fuck are you doin’?” He asked harshly.
“I was moving your head where I had more light on the wound. Why are you so squirrely?” You ask.
“Oh, I don’t know, because I just got shot at by a bunch of fuckin’ Krauts!” He replied sarcastically as he glared at you.
“Ok well then let’s get this fixed, shall we?” You returned with as much calmness in your voice as you could muster.
You press the cloth with the antiseptic onto his laceration and he pulled back upon feeling the sting.
“Ack! THAT HURT!” He barked.
“If you’d hold still, it wouldn’t hurt as much!!”You bit back.
You were over his childish behavior towards you.
“Just get it over with.” He grumbled, finally maintaining his composure.
You made your hands busy on his neck, wrapping the dressing like a scarf around his neck after you cleaned it. Thank goodness you didn’t need to stitch it, that would’ve been hell for both of you with his attitude.
“There. You’re good.”
“Fantastic.” He replied without a thank you.
He stood up and trudged off to join the rest of Easy for the return to Crossroads to reclaim the position. The patrol had been gone all night into the following morning, but they had eventually took victory. That evening, Winters allowed the men an evening of enjoyment at a local pub in the town to boost morale.
The men had worn their dress uniforms, each looking handsome and ready to mingle with the local women and vice versa. You hadn’t dressed up since graduating Toccoa and even then, you hadn’t been with Easy Company then, so this would be the first time they ever saw you in dress uniform,
“Hey! Get a load of this!” Toye called out to the guys when you breezed through the front door.
Liebgott standing at the bar looked over his shoulder upon feeling the cold air on the back of his neck. His jaw dropped when his eyes landed on you. He scanned your figure from head to toe.
Hair clean and perfumed pulled back into a neat fashionable bun and a face with fresh make-up and painted lips. And those gams (legs) emerging from the pencil skirt and heels and of course a clean white medic brassard displaying the Red Cross around the left bicep. You almost had the entire room at a complete standstill when you walked in.
“…Woah.” Joe whispered to himself, unaware that Talbert was near by.
“Not bad, eh, Lieb?” Tab teased.
Tumblr media
He grimaced at Floyd and turned back to the bar to drink his beer.
The night was filled with laughter, darts, dancing, and liquor. Most of Easy had at least one dance around the room with you to favorites like Bing Crosby, Ella Fitzgerald, and The Andrew Sisters. You had just finished a dance with Toye sometime around midnight when a soldier from Dog Company had approached you.
“May I have this dance?” He asked politely with a slight bow.
Joe, standing with Buck, Luz, Babe, and Toye, watched with intensity from the dart boards.
“Maybe the next song.” You reply kindly, having just sat down for the first time in an hour.
“Come on, doll, ain’t no time like the present, right?” He insisted yanking you be the arm to the dance floor.
Liebgott’s clenched jaw and furrowed eye brows caught the attention of Toye.
“Hey, uh, you ok there, Lieb?”
Joe looked at Toye inquisitively.
“Yeah, why?”
“Well, you look a little…pissed.” Toye said plainly.
“Well, I ain’t.” Joe retorted.
He looked back at the dance floor to see where you were but was suddenly concerned he couldn’t find you right away. He saw the unknown soldier had taken you to the bar to get you a drink.
He handed you a pint and insisted you drink the whole thing.
“You said you could drink me under the table, so prove it!” He said.
“Fine, just this once.” You accepted.
You started to chug the pint, but when you started to lower the glass before it was empty, the soldier tilted the bottom up so you’d keep drinking. You finished and propped the glass open side down on the surface of the bar.
“Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to my-“ you started before the soldier grabbed your upper arm.
“Oh we ain’t done here, honey.” He declared.
You tried to pull yourself out of his grasp but he pulled you in by the waist to hold you close.
“Get your meat hooks off of me.” You warned through clenched teeth.
“Or what?” He mocked.
“Or you’ll have half of Easy raining down on you.”
You hear a gravelly voice behind the brute soldier. He turned and there stood Joe Liebgott squaring up to him. Behind him Toye, Malarkey, Guarnere, and Luz.
“Come on, guys, there’s enough ladies here to go around, why can’t I have a little fun with this one?”
“Because she don’t wanna have fun with you.” Joe shot back, “Let her go.”
The soldier released your arm, as Liebgott gently tugged you behind him by your wrist.
“Enjoy the rest of your evening.” Liebgott said to him as they all walked with you to the dart boards.
Suddenly you feel Joe’s hand on the small of your back, guiding you to a more secluded spot in the back of the pub.
“What the fuck is the matter with you??” He sneered at you, positioning you against the wall to talk to you.
“Excuse me?”
“You fuckin’ heard me. Why would you put yourself in a position like that? That guy could’ve walked out with you easily with as much as you drank tonight.” He lectured.
“How do you know how much I’ve been drinking? And what business is it of yours who I’m interacting with anyway?” You returned crossing your arms.
Joe took in a deep breath through his nose as his anger started to elevate in his chest.
“If I wasn’t watching out for you, you would’ve gotten yourself into some real shit.”
He leaned in placing a hand against the wall you leaned on. His face hovering centimeters from your own. You feel his breath on your face, and notice his pupils blown out from what you thought was hate and detestation for you.
Tumblr media
His eyes undressed you from your red lips down to your fitted blouse then looked into your eyes. Your breathe started to hasten, causing your chest to heave.
“You nervous?” Joe questioned.
Your breathe caught in your throat.
“-no.” You breathed.
He moved closer to you, pinning you against the wall as your chests touched. Your arms relaxed to your sides as your nails dug into the brick behind you. You were, indeed, very nervous. And he knew it.
The scowl Joe had slowly curled into a mischievous grin.
“I think you are.” He whispered confidently as his hand cupped your cheek.
Your eyelashes fluttered, “Wh-what are you doing?” You managed to ask.
His thumb stroked your cheek, “Admiring the view.”
You released an exhale after holding your breath for almost 5 minutes.
“I thought you hated me?”
He brushed his nose against yours, “No. As a matter of fact, I always liked ya.”
“Then why-“
Before you could finish your sentence, he closed the gap between you, locking onto your lips like it was his dying wish.
You snake your arms carefully around his neck as he pulled you into him by your waist. You slack you jaw open to allow his tongue to run along your lips. You nip his bottom lip playfully causing his hips to thrust into you.
You yanked at his jacket, pulling him into you again to feel his hard on against you. He groaned into your mouth.
“What are you doin’ doll?” He asked with a devilish grin.
“I really don’t know but-“ you pull him in again, bringing his earlobe gently between your teeth then whisper, “we can’t stop now.”
“Let’s get outta here.” Joe suggested ushering you out the back door.
~~~~~~~
You snuck off to one of the abandoned homes down the street from where you were and barely got through the door before you were undoing his belt. You kicked of your shoes into darkness then made your way up a flight of stairs leaving pieces of your uniforms trailing the steps as you ascended.
When you were down to your slip and him down to his briefs, you scamper off to an open bedroom hoping he’d chase you…which he did. You kneeled on the bed waiting for him to come to you. He approached standing at the bedside.
You seductively crawled over to the edge of the bed and suckled a trail of kisses from his collar bone all the way down the waistband of his underwear. Joe inhaled deeply through is nostrils as he closed his eyes in ecstasy. You nip and licked at the sensitive area above his pubic line.
“Quit teasin’.” Joe purred.
“Or what?” You ask looking up at him through your lashes.
A joker like smile appeared across his face as he swiftly pushed you onto you back then crawled over you, caging you between his arms.
“You asked for it, sweeheart.” He proclaimed before locking onto your mouth again.
His hardened cock grinding into you, you wrap your legs around his waist to feel as much of his friction as possible. He pulls back and began pulling your slip over your head then sat back on his heels to remove his underwear.
He gaped at you laying in front of him. He ran his hand from your stomach up to one breast, groping it then repeating on the other. He hovered over you, enveloping one of your peaked nipples in his mouth. His tongue swirling over the tip while sucking had you writing beneath him. Sensing your pleasure he switched to the other, taking the tip between his teeth.
“Please, Lieb.” You beg.
“Joe.” He corrected.
You look at him.
“I want to hear you scream my name a hundred times before the end of the night.” He growled.
You beam at him, “Please, Joe.”
He palmed himself, pumping a few times before he lined himself up with your drenched opening. He glazed his tip with your wetness, groaning at the amount of saturation.
“I really did a number on you, didn’t I?” He goaded.
All you could do was smile coyly.
He pushed into you deliciously slow. You whimper, both of you feeling every bit of your tightness around him. He embraced you instinctively until he bottomed out. He pulled back gradually, then snapped his hips forward against you with a grunt.
“Jesus Christ, Y/F/N.”
“Please, Joe.” You implore quietly in his ear.
This triggers him as he begins spearing into you roughly. He sits up, propping your legs up where he can hold you around the thighs as he drives into, hitting that perfect spot so deep inside. You push against the headboard to steady yourself onto his dick, feeling that tightening feeling in your stomach as he chased your orgasm.
He watched your face expressions purposefully, feeding off how they changed as he switched up his pace.
“Joe…” you’d moan, spurring him on to go harder.
“Yeah, sweetheart, say it again.”
“My God, Joe…”
He brought his fingers to your clit, using your slick to vigorously rub the vulnerable bud as he continued to plunge in and out of you. He loved watching you get overstimulated as you try to paw at him to pull him back into kiss.
“Right there, Joe…keep goin’.” You lament.
“Yeah? Let it go, baby.” He leered as he railed into you at a heart stopping rate.
“Oh…my GOD, JOE!” You wailed as you dig your nails into his shoulders.
He kept his pace, making sure you ride out your high until the guttural noises that emitted from him as his hips started to stutter and his load coated your insides.
He remained on top of you and inside of you, holding you like a life line with sweat dripping from everywhere. Both of your breathing in sync, each of you trying to steady your heart rates.
After a moment, you decided to break the silence.
“That was…wow.”
Joe chuckled then rolled off of you as he positioned your head on his chest.
“Couldn’t have said it better myself, sweetheart.”

Hi! Could u make a Hunter x nb! Human! Reader who’s Luz’s adopted sibling and gets possessed instead of Hunter in TTT?
Tumblr media
A/n: I see Luz and Hunter as siblings so this going to be more platonic, I'm sorry if this isn't what you wanted
Tw: Slight trigger warning for implied suicidal thoughts and panic attacks it not too graphic but just wanted to warn y'all before
You had known Hunter for a few months now but with how close you two were it might as well of been a lifetime. You shared basically everything with each other. And for Hunter, the main thing shared with you was his past with Belos. You had no clue who Belos was. But you could tell he was a bad person with how nervous Hunter was telling you he used to work for him.
While you didn't understand most of the words he was saying you got the jist of who Belos was, the absolute fucking worst. You hugged him and let him know you didn't care about his past as the golden guard.
Snap back to the present Yoy and him were making lunch for the rest of the family. You mostly give Hunter insercations. Because you've seen the 'food' Hunter made before and... It was certainly ingredients put together. You were cutting peppers."Okay so next- Ow- fuck!" You suddenly yelped. You dropped the knife and drew your chest. "Are you okay!?" Hunter was by your side in a matter of seconds. "I'm fine, I'm fine, I just cut my finger." You said. "Wait here I''' get some disinfectant wipes," Hunter said and you nodded in reply.
You wrapped the cut in your shirt in the meantime. Hunter came back and you held your hand out. He cleaned out the cut and you winced at the contact of the wipe. "I'm sorry," Hunter said softly. "Nah, it's fine just kinda hurts. We should probably continue making dinner." "Oh right!" You both continued on.
After dinner, you and Hunter decided to go to a shed located a bit far from the house. Hunter said he was going to go in the shed but first, he was going to wash some dishes. So you went to the shed and waited. Soon a weird green goop.
You stared at it for a few minutes when it seemed to start moving. On one hand, you didn't want to be the movie character that starts touching the obvious bad thing. But on the other hand, it was so tempting. You sighed and crouched next to it, still relatively far away, and poked at it. You brought your hand back at the contact. You accidentally touched it with your wounded finger. "I just t touched some mysterious goo with an open wound." You sighed, "Not one of my brightest moments... Let's hope the infection isn't too bad."
Suddenly you heard the door knob move. You turned your head around to see Hunter. "Oh hey, bro!" Hunter seemed slightly startled. He's still not used to you calling him bro, but he's not complaining about you. "Hi, why are you crouched down?" "There was some weird sludge..." When you turned around it was nowhere to be seen. "That's weird... It was right here!" "Are you sure you've been getting enough sleep?" Hunter asked. You looked back and forth nervously. "So no, Y/N I'm not saying you seeing things or anything. But that might be part of this." He gestured vaguely, "Sleep is important." "You're one to talk." "Being a hypocrite doesn't make me wrong."
You sighed and rubbed your eyes. "Yeah, I haven't been getting enough sleep. But I saw it! I felt it. I know it was there." Hunter looked around nervously. "Just tell me if you see it again. Then we can check it out together and you'll know it was real, two birds with one stone." Flapjack glared at him. "Not literally though, sorry buddy." He scratched under the bird's chin and he did whatever the bird equivalent of purring is. You stood up and stretched a few cracks coming from your back. "Okay did you bring the tablet?" you asked. Hunter had a small bag around his waist and he pulled the tablet out of it. "Of course." He smiled
You and he sat on the chairs the rest of the group brought up a few weeks ago. You cringed at the floor creaking when you sat down. You and Hunter opened the language-learning app, but neither of you bothered to remember its name and opted for remembering the icon. Once you entered you clicked on Spanish. There were a few other languages that had a sliver of progress in them. Luz (or Luz and Gus) were responsible for that. She always declared that she was going to learn a new language and then a week later she would ask why one word had so many variations and say that two languages were enough. And, based on how much you and Hunter were struggling, you agreed.
After an hour of studying and struggling you closed the app. "God damn all the ways a and e can be spelled." You said. "There aren't that many ways, you just gotta remember how to say them!" "Okay, Mr. Spend all my time reading and studying for I school I don't go to." "Studying and reading is fun!" Hunter said with a very defensive tone in his voice. Ah, right, back when he was in the Coven, and jabbing at him was a personal attack. "Sorry, I was joking around." Hunter nodded slightly. There is tension left in the air. "Okay well, I'm tired I'm going to go to bed." You said almost robotically. "But it's 6 PM." "Not getting enough sleep will make you tired okay byeee!" You waved and entered your room. Ever since you were adopted you took up a section in the attic. Not that there weren't any other rooms, you just preferred a small quiet area.
You, in fact, were not tired. You just had no clever way to end that conversation. You suddenly felt a slight headache and your vision got blurry. "Argh!" You subconsciously cried out. The only thing you could make out was a greenish figure with glowing blue eyes. You blinked and rubbed your eyes. The figure disappeared. Okay, maybe Hunter had a point. You went to your bed and decided to take a nap.
After what was a full sleep cycle, you woke up at 4 AM. Your throat hurt so you decided to get a glass of water. As you were pouring yourself a cup you glanced out a window. From what you saw of the window you saw a familiar glow and turned your whole body around so fast that water spilled on you. Yet there was nothing there when you saw the full window.
You swallowed some water that you had in your cup. It soothed your throat. You bite the skin of your lip. You went back to your room got your phone, and siped your water. No matter how much you mindlessly scrolled the visions wouldn't leave your mind. You keep just scrolling through random websites barely comprehending the words on the screen. Even if you tried the hallucinations had you completely out of it. Suddenly you heard the sound of multiple doors opening and closing. You went downstairs. You saw Hunter fumbling around with multiple cleaning supplies. "Oh, hi! I'm just going to clean around the house." "Haven't you already cleaned every room like 6 times this week?" "Yeah, but there are 8 people living in this house, plus Palismen." "Fair, can I help? I need to distract myself from... Stuff" Hunter tilted his head but nodded.
You both went to the kitchen and pulled out towels and bottles of cleaning supplies. You paused. "I'm going to go clean a window." "Can you just tell me what's wrong?" "Nothing! Just the window seems dirty." You walked over to the window and squirted Windex on it. Once you started wiping it a layer of fog and grime was wiped off and became way clearer. Your body filled with relief at the new clearness. While it didn't explain the blueness and glowy-ness of what you saw earlier it was enough to calm you. But you couldn't shake the feeling. So you kept trying to come up with an explanation. Once one explanation crossed your mind your blood felt like it turned to ice. It was barely plausible but the other explanations weren't likely either.
"Hey, Hunter, buddy, bro, dude, what did Belos look like in his freakouts? Like when he a weird slime monster?" Hunter tensed up. "Um he had his hair, his skin was dark green, and his eyes glowed... He had more than two eyes at some points..." His breath became shakey. "Hey- Hey, it's fine you don't have to talk about it if it stresses you out. Breathe with me." You did a few cycles of breathing exercises. Hunter smiled. "Why did you ask?" "No- reason- well there was a reason but I don't want to stress you out! Don't stress about what I just said!" You began rambling, "Let's just get back to cleaning!"
Throughout you guys cleaning he kept looking at you with concern. Suddenly you felt like your muscles were twitching. What was happening to you? Everything was fine two days ago what the fuck happened?
The goop.
Fucking hell this one hell of an infection. But you did touch random slime with an open wound and no knowledge of what it was. You looked at your wound. The same slime was leaking from the wound. Okay, maybe it was more of a parasite. But the thought of the slime coming from Belos crept back into your mind. "Hey Hunter I'm going to do something with a thing." You spurted out without thinking. You left and started running. You had no destination in mind you just kept going. You arrived at an empty frame. You stopped. You scratched at your neck and it felt dry.
What were you even doing? Why did you run? It made sense in the moment but now the reason escaped you. You probably would've had an answer if when you first started running. Your vision started to get more blurry the more you stood still, no matter how much you wiped them. You also felt like you weren't in control you were moving but you weren't trying to, in fact, you were trying to stop yourself. Everything was so overwhelming that despite the quietness you felt like you couldn't hear anything. The thing that you could hear was thumping you couldn't tell if it was your heart or footsteps.
"Y/n? Where are you!?" You heard a voice call out, Was it Hunter? Maybe. It's hard to tell what's happening in general. You looked back at the noise. You saw the outline of a few people. Your friends. Your family. Your voice started talking without your permission. "There you are, Hunter!" It sounds so twisted. Hunter's voice sounded like it was slipping in and out of focus. What was clear was why, run, and already. After a minute or two of- that. You regained more consciousness when you felt a pair of arms around you. "Y/n, I know you're in there! Fight him off!" Luz called out. "Please." You heard Hunter say not far away. 'Fight him off.' Who is 'him'? I mean you must of been doing a good job if you have this much control. You put the rest of your energy into staying in control.
Despite your focus on staying in control what was happening was just a blur of noises and colors. You felt dirt around your fingers. You wanted to see what the hell you were doing but it was a lot harder to stay in focus than you thought it would be. "Leave her alone." You heard Hunter say in a very flat voice. Suddenly vines were wrapped around your body. Hunter knelt down by you. "What's going on?" You, actually you, managed to get out. "We're trying to help you- if you're not Belos." Everything clicked in your head. You're, what you thought was insane, theroey was right.
"Willow tighten the vines. Don't stop." You said with any energy you had left. "What!?" Almost every yelled in unison. "Just do it!" You said. Willow reluctantly started tightening the vines. It hurt and you were positive your bones were going to crack. But before that happened Belos left your body. You were exhausted and couldn't comprehend what he was saying, but you could tell he had a blue vial and smashed it against the frame. "Y/n are you okay!?" Hunter shouted. "Huh? Uh- yeah, I'm fine. " "But you covered in scars..." You looked at your arms, and sure enough, there were huge scars. "Whatever I feel fine." You said standing up a bit too fast and almost lost your balance.
"How'd you know that would work?" Luz asked. "Oh, I didn't! I was expected for I way different ending to that if you know what I mean." "Were you planning to die, to possibly save us?" Hunter asked. "The answer you want and the truth are different. But I the portals open now." Luz narrowed her eyes. "Yeah, it's great that the portals open. That being said we need to have a talk about this later." "I'm not getting out of this am I?" Hunter chimed in, "Nope."
A/n: I'M SO SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG
