I have two WRH and JGY aus rotating in my head
First one is a Wen-furen au where JGS takes MY purely for the sake of gifting him to WRH as a sex slave but WRH goes "Off to the Fire Palace with you, if your father wants you gone that badly you must have done something truly horrible you'll fare nicely there" because he can't really picture anyone not loving his kids (family man WRH!) And then MY shows talent and it goes random kid > hound > chief torturer > furen. And then WRH tortures JGS obviously :)
And then there a Wen regroup and strike back au based on this fic I wrote as a starting point where WRH gets taken as a war prisioner by the Jin and locked up, and the Jin men do things to him not even JGY as chief torturer ever did and JGY goes "Nope :) I'm not working with these people" and takes the role of a hound to WRH hunting down people that harmed him etc and lots pf emotional tension because JGY did backstab WRH but WRH is atp too exhausted and reliant on JGY to really do anything about it
Oh, I love these!!
I'm always a slut for AUs where JGS uses MY just as a pawn for political alliances, and he turns out doing MY a favor by giving him to someone who actually ends up caring about him XD. I'm also digging WRH assuming there's something wrong with MY so much! I mean, this is a man with freaking WC as his son, and still we see the guy enjoying all the privilages of his station; just how much awful a child must be for a parent to want to get rid of them?? And then MY proving them all wrong asdfghjkghj YES. WRH actually owing JGS one for gifting him such a treasure ;u;. Not like he's going to be grateful, MY deserves to see his father destroyed for what he tried to do to him :D
AHHHH that's so good! Lol I just read it and I'm screaming!! There are so many flavors there, all equally deranged and painful and so fitting! It'd be very MY of him, trying to mend his wrong of betraying WRH even if he had to do it, and the irony of correcting that doing the exact same thing he did for WRH in the Fire Palace, so many layers of fucked up!! Tbh it wouldn't be so surprising for MY to switch places again if he was ever to discover that was WRH still alive. He would have tasted what it was like in Lanling and instantly regret that he gave up everything good he had going on in Qishan. So yeah, he was wrong, gotta correct that lol
Thank you for sharing!! I'm always happy to provide food of this ship, but it's so nice to be the one being fed for a change <3

Luna Strike was an unusual wolf. She had fluffy grey fur and large golden eyes that shone like the sunrise. However, the thing that set her apart from other wolves was her unique ability. Luna had the power to channel electricity, which made her a very dangerous fighter.
Luna had lived in the woods with her family for as long as she could remember. Her parents worked hard to provide for their pack and to protect the wild creatures of the forest. Luna loved her home, but she longed for adventure. She longed to explore the vast forest and discover all of its secrets.
One day, Luna was out exploring when she stumbled upon a group of humans living in the woods. At first, they seemed hostile towards her, but Luna didn't give up. She used her electricity to stun the humans, but before they could react, she ran back to her pack.
Luna's parents were shocked to see her return with humans as her only souvenirs. They could not believe what their weak-willed daughter had done. Luna shook her head, "I didn't mean to upset them. I just wanted to see where they came from."
Luna's parents were not convinced and ordered her to leave the forest. Luna couldn't bear to leave her home, but she knew she had to. She walked out of the woods, leaving her old life behind, and into a new one filled with possibilities.
Days turned into weeks, and Luna found herself in a new town. It was filled with humans and robots, but Luna didn't feel out of place. She made friends with a group of children and even began to help them with their schoolwork.
As Luna became more integrated into the human community, she began to noticed a strange energy in the air. The adults were panicking and stockpiling food and supplies. Luna couldn't help but feel responsible for her new friends and their families.
She decided to investigate the source of this energy and set out on a journey far beyond the town's boundaries. She traveled through the woods and met all sorts of creatures, from giant ants to tree spirits. But Luna never gave up her search for answers.
Finally, after days of searching, Luna found what she was looking for. At the center of the energy was a building that housed a massive electromagnetic generator. Luna knew that this machine was responsible for the panic in the town, and she had to shut it down.
Luna fought her way through the building, using her electricity to stun the machines that stood in her way. Finally, she reached the source of the energy: the electromagnetic generator. Luna quickly dismantled the machine and shut down the panic.
In the aftermath of the crisis, Luna found that she had made new friends in both human and animal communities. She had learned that humans and animals could live together in harmony, and that adventure wasn't always about fighting. Luna felt grateful for the experiences she had had, and she knew that she would never forget them.
From that day on, Luna continued to use her unique power to help others, whether they were just in need of a helping hand, or in danger of destruction. Luna had found her true calling, and she knew that wherever her journey led her, she would be ready to face it with courage and determination.

*rubs mt hands together and throws a △ at you*
Wen, do you think your mother would be proud of you?
Maria, who have you failed?
Oooh these are very interesting! Thanks, Lilou c:
(Invasive Question Thing)
Wen, do you think your mother would be proud of you?
Arianwen lifts a cup of water from the desk and takes a long, slow sip. Condensation beads on the glass, slipping from droplet to droplet until it falls to the table's surface. Silence fills the room. When she sets the cup down again, it is with a sharp click.
"Obviously," she says, one eyebrow lifted, and reaches for a stack of paper.
(Discomfort level: 0/10)
Maria, who have you failed?
Hawke shrugs, toying with the empty goblet on the table.
"Oh, you know," she says, and tips the goblet up, up, over her mouth before setting it down again. "I don't think about it very much. All in the past, you know."
Her laugh, when it comes, is high and brittle. Her hands twist the goblet around and around on the table, so quickly that it would be sloshing over the sides if it were still full.
"I just---if I'd been a bit quicker," she bursts out a moment later, "Beth was right there and I couldn't---and Carver! He trusted me to be a leader, and just before we reach the surface he---no, I don't think about it much."
Maria tips the goblet up again, her throat working even though there's nothing left to drink. After a moment, she sighs and goes on. More names pour out: Saemus Dumar, the Qunari she only ever knew as Ketojan, neighbors in Lothering, her mother, all the women her mother's killer found first, and on and on. She recalls them all by name and circumstance, and when at last she finishes speaking her hands are quiescent on the table.
"I...try not to think about it much," she finishes quietly. There is a pitcher of wine on the table. She lifts it and fills the goblet halfway, then sets it neatly back where it belongs. Her hands tremble slightly when she lifts the goblet again.
Discomfort level: 9/10

Au where Wei Wuxian does a blood sacrifice thing as he's dying, so no one he loves can be injured by another person. If someone tries, they are injured instead.
Lan Zhan gets whipped three times before the whole thing is called off. He has to carve the new rules condemning his love instead. His attempts at branding himself fail so he paints the mark on himself every day until he figures out how to make it permanent
Wen Ning can't be controlled, and so he goes to Cloud Recesses to watch over A-Yuan.
A-Yuan excels in long-range combat and music cultivation since it's difficult for others to properly spar with him.
Jin Ling becomes even more cocky. After all, what's going to happen? Is someone going to hurt themselves trying to hit him?
Jiang Cheng has several crying sessions over this because how can Wei Wuxian care for him after everything and how dare he do this
The only time someone has successfully hurt these people is when Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan get tired of the other man's shit during a discussion conference and try to punch each other in the face. The result is that they are both thrown into the air, with Jiang Cheng cutting his head open on a table and Lan Zhan spraining his ankle by landing wrong

cang qiong dragon god shen yuan is probably like so old that time doesn’t have meaning? like he transmigrated into pidw as a dragon and and the system gave him a few missions that functionally amounted to ‘claim this mountain range as your territory and defend it from demons’
sy didn’t realize that he was actually laying the foundation for cang qiong mountain sect before its creation. some terrifying demon demigod (one of the first heavenly demons, maybe?) pursues a band of cultivators to his mountain range, and he protects them. they settle his mountains and start cultivating, and because they’re protected by a literal god (who they call lord canglong, and they name the mountains after him) people want to study there.
so cqms is born, and sy takes a nap. when he wakes up, those cultivators he saved bring another group of cultivators, all named 'wen' to his mountain, and they ask his permission to lead the peaks next. another nap, and he wakes up to the wen generation asking his blessing for the ming generation, so on and so forth up until the qing generation. this time he recognizes names: qingge, qingfang, qingqi. this generation's leader, qingyuan. and the one whose bow is shallow and perfunctory, qingqiu. ofc sy isn't super pressed about standing on ceremony or whatever—he's only experienced like six years in this world, and most of them were spent either establishing the mountain as his territory or helping his little cultivators fight off some world-ending cataclysm or other. but he remembers the scum villain’s name, and he’s not a huge fan of the way sqq’s already proving himself to be an arrogant old shit
just like every other time, after he’s met and blessed this generation of peak lords, shen yuan falls asleep. shit!!! he meant to stay awake this time, but the system putting him to sleep is just too powerful! he’s probably missed luo binghe, damnit!!! what’s the point of transmigrating into this shitty novel if he doesn’t even get to meet the only character worth the pixels it took to type him into existence??
but as soon as he sees that fluffy-haired boy curled up in one of his caves, bruised and weeping and wondering what he’s done to be so universally hated, shen yuan knows. that’s his protagonist, and he’s really too pathetic like this. he’s really just a child. and shen yuan might have been easily annoyed by the concept of kids in his first life, but this isn’t just some whiny kid. this is the protagonist. so he does his best to calm tiny lord luo down.
and at first when lbh realizes it’s the fucking dragon god canglong speaking to him, the poor kid falls on his face kowtowing and apologizing for the intrusion, but lord canglong just…asks him what’s wrong. and then listens. and then he allows binghe to…to touch his hand???? not only that, he pats binghe’s head?? and tells him it isn’t his fault??? that one little head-pat is filled with so much spiritual power that binghe almost passes out, and soon after he recovers, lord canglong sends him back down the mountain with a renewed sense of purpose. lord canglong said binghe wasn’t stupid, wasn’t incompetent, wasn’t a failure, and binghe was determined to prove himself worthy of the sect’s guardian deity’s kindness.
and when luo binghe turns to walk down the mountain back to qing jing peak, that google translate voice pipes up in shen yuan’s ear with an update he hadn’t realized he was waiting for.
[Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Important things must be said three times! USER_002 has completed the quest {From the Ground Up}! B-points +500 USER_002 has initiated the quest {Master of Masters}! New skill [Shapeshifter] has been unlocked! Would USER_002 like to activate [Shapeshifter] now?]
shen yuan slammed the bright glowing [YES] faster than any quest the system had ever given him. that’s how he learned that he was, in fact, just naked in front of luo binghe, and the [Shapeshifter] skill didn’t come with an auto-clothed setting. thank fuck he’d already sent the protagonist away!

Lan Wangji was surprised when he heard Wei Wuxian playing their song on his flute in Mo Xuanyu body. Then immediately happy because he realized that obviously this means that Wei Wuxian has come back because no one else has heard him play this song before. Then immediately gets angry because why is Wei Wuxian playing their song for Wen Ning, so he immediately stops Wei Wuxian from playing. Then he reluctantly lets Wei Wuxian play so that Wen Ning can get away and vows to himself that he won’t lose Wei Wuxian again. But no one there knows the range of emotions that he just went through because his face doesn’t change and only Lan Xichen would have been able to tell.

Tumblr media
p.js smut a little dubious. ji is a loser and you’re his only friend.
nothing compares to a quite evening alone, but that never happens. i guess you’re dreaming again.
note — this is a little darker than the last few things i’ve posted. so please be warned, there’s no verbal agreement. but it is consensual. i will say that you DO agree, nothing is technically against your will. you nod your head to signal a yes. jisung is weird. he admits to fucked up fantasies. the things he says and does can and most likely will be considered creepy, okay? okay.
Tumblr media
a nap was calling your name, but park jisung was calling your phone.
eyes heavy with sleep, your body ached as you searched for the buzzing device buried deep within your blankets. fingers grazing over the cold glass screen, you’d finally be able to grip the phone — being met with ten missed calls and a few hundred more missed texts.
to say you were annoyed, would be an understatement. it was hard to find a single ounce of free time, as the work piled and buried your body. but it was even harder to get away from jisung. it was almost as if he knew when you has found a few hours of downtime. doing everything in his power to make sure you never found peace, or a good nap.
resting your body onto the headboard, a hand slid under your shirt and the other pressed on one of the many missed calls. it rang for a moment, the ringing being replaced with the soft sound of breathing on the other end. and it was silent, so silent that your already heavy eyes started to flutter close.
“hello?” oh yeah, he’s still there.
“hello.” you answered, voice low and scratchy. clear signs of sleep deprivation laced within your tone.
completely ignoring your tired voice, jisung started to ramble. and for a boy who barely said a word in class, he sure had a lot to say when it was just you. letting his voice fade out, the grip on your phone slipped and the device was resting on your lap. humming whenever he said someone that sounded remotely like a question, you allowed yourself to slowly succumb to the urge to sleep. but he wasn’t going to let you, not yet.
“can i come over?”
“why? you can just tell me over the phone.” you couldn’t roll your eyes, with all the energy you had was put into talking. but if you could’ve, you would’ve.
“well i’m kind of already on my way.”
of course he was, boundaries don’t exist with this kid.
it was long before the door of your apartment was swinging open and jisung was making himself at home. the sound of your refrigerator opening echoed through the apartment, giving you the energy you needed to get up.
as your feet dragged, your head pounded. and park surely wasn’t a help. turning on every light, every device, he was a walking headache. throwing yourself onto the couch, which has surely seen better days, jisung yelled something from the kitchen. though his usual quite voice was turned up a few decibels, you still couldn’t make out exactly what he was saying. the brain fog still heavy, surely he wanted to make sure you heard was nonsense anyway.
it was going to be a long night.
slouched on your couch, jisung was seated next to you. laptop, on the verge of overheating, sat on his lap as he forcefully informed you on his latest biology assignment. it was boring, painfully boring — but you couldn’t bring yourself to tell him to leave. it was enduring at first, a boy who was too good-looking for his own good — with close to no social skills to take him anywhere. it was you who introduced yourself, taking a seat by the nerd during freshman week. it was you who invited him to study with you after school, hang-out from time to time, late-night movie nights that turned into 3AM sleepovers.
but it was jisung who got too comfortable. inviting himself over unannounced, under the guise that he needed help with his homework. forcing you to cancel on others to hang out with him, he just wanted to spend some time with his best friend after all. hovering over you as you went from class to class.
your friends started to call him a creep.
and to some degree, they were right. it wasn’t until he started to drop little secrets of his, that you finally agreed with their negative title on park. it started with simple secrets, innocent ones really. he didn’t have friends, yeah you figured. he’d never been to a party before — again, something anyone could figure out after one conversation with him. he’s never had a girlfriend, how sad.
he’s a virgin, he wants your help — okay that’s weird, no jisung. he only likes himself when he’s with you — okay, stop..
but you could never bring yourself to push him away completely, instead opting to ignore his odd behavior. maybe even embrace it at times. his need to be with you at all times gave you a little ego boost. jisung wanting you to help him with more, personal matters, made your lips twitch into a small smile.
so for now, it was just a quirk of his. an unsettling one, but a quirk nonetheless.
“are you even listening?” snapping your head up, jisung had migrated from his spot on the couch. his seat on the far right, left abandoned — his knee nearly knocked against yours. he had an odd tendency to get really close, uncomfortably close at times
“yeah, yeah i am.” rubbing your eyes, you shifted your body further away. putting a comfortable distance between the two of you again, it was hard to miss when jisung rolled his eyes. at your actions or at whatever he was explaining at the moment?
that you’ll never know.
as jisung continued to type and talk, his words didn’t register in your mind. not that you would understand it anyway. watching as his lips moved, words mushing together in an incoherent blabber, it again started to become ever more difficult to stay awake.
the sharp features of his face blurring together — glasses perched low on his nose, his lips would form a tight line whenever he wasn’t talking — causing the frames to slip down just a little more every time.
for as weird as he was, park was unfortunately just as attractive. even through his strange biology talk, and strange tendencies to be as close as possible — park was hot.
watching as his lips move, it was only a matter of time before you were gone. letting yourself fall asleep for what felt like the first time in decades, the image of jisung was one that appeared in your dream as you slept.
but unfortunately, you wouldn’t be able to sleep for long.
it was simple touches at first, what one would think is a knee grazing against yours. maybe an arm leaning against your own. then it turned into fingers tracing along your face, down your neck — reach would quickly stop when you’d stir and shiver. a warm palm brushing against the exposed skin of your thigh. the feeling of your shirt shifting and lifting.
another hand on your stomach.
it all made your eyes slightly twitch and eventually pop open. being face to face with the boy who was just working away on this laptop — though now his laptop was long abandoned on the coffee table and his hands found interest in exploring the exposed parts of your body.
knelt down in front of you, his body still hovered over your seated one. “don’t scream, please?” his lips so close to yours, you could practically feel them as he spoke. deep voice sending shivers down your spine, your lips parted to speak — but his hand was quicker.
clasping over the bottom half of your face, it made your pupils dilate and your breath get caught in the back of your throat.
“nod if you won’t.” resting his forehead against yours, he stared into your eyes. waiting, hoping that you would agree. just this once, he wanted you to give him what he wanted.
what he needed.
breathing heavy behind his palm, your head nodded slightly. enough for him to quickly move his hands to the sides of your face. bringing his lips closer, park gave your lips a short, nervous kiss. testing the waters before going back for more.
using his hands to tilt your head back, there was clear hesitation to touch you, a stark contrast to when you were asleep. jisungs’ fingers gently pressed through your hair as his lips explored yours — licking the bottom to be allowed in.
and you’d give him entry.
his inexperience clear through the way you were able to effortlessly shift and grasp the control of the kiss. bringing your own hands up to hold onto his neck, you applied just enough force to bring his face closer.
something about the whole thing felt all too natural, all too right. with the way his plush lips felt so good against yours, the way his skin heated up under your fingertips — the way he’d shudder when your nails pressed into the pale skin. all paired with how his hands traveled smoothly along your body. as if you weren’t uncharted territory, but something that he’s studied over and over again. as if park took notes and analyzed your entire being.
as if you were another bio project, all for him.
letting his hands settle above your hips, his grip tightened when your teeth sank into the skin of his bottom lip before you’d eventually pull away. though the distance was minimal, still feeling each other’s unsteady breathing.
“park, you’re a creep..” the once tired tone, being joined with something a slight disgust, intrigue, and maybe even lighthearted in a sense. though his nose still scrunched at the words.
park and creep in the same sentence, he would never hear the end of it.
because jisung knew what he was, he knew the way he acted wasn’t normal. but he hated to he reminded of it, and he hated it even more when you reminded him of that fact. park knew the lingering touches were too much, but it was never enough for him. he knew the stalking was odd, lurking around you even if he wasn’t invited. showing up to your house on his own accord, as if he owned the place.
he knew it was creepy, and quite frankly — he couldn’t bring himself to care.
he loved that you let him be creepy. anyone else probably would have pushed him away, forced him to stop. but you didn’t, which lead him to go as far as he did. groping, rubbing, and caressing your skin as you lie idle. blissfully unaware of the things he thought, the words he had mumbled, the pictures he had the urge to take.
“i know.” mumbling the words into the crook of your neck, jisung nibbled on the skin before following them with short licks. sliding his hands under your shirt to pinch at your waist.
as he worked his way down, you simply let him. because you enjoyed it. gripping onto his jet black strands at every bite, a labored sigh following every lick of his tongue.
removing his head from your neck, jisung tugged at the hem of your shirt. pulling it out and off your body, giving himself access to the rest of your torso. placing small kisses against the skin, he stopped just before the band of your sleep shorts.
“i waited, so long.” whispering to himself, his fingers slipped under the waistband, silently pleading for you to lift your hips. allowing for him to tug down the material and discard of it onto the floor.
draping your legs over his shoulders, park wasted no time — flattening his tongue against your still clothed cunt. moaning against the fabric, the vibrations caused your hips to buck up. using his hands to keep you in place, jisung rested his head against your thigh.
“i was so patient you know. considered just making you give it up to me, but this is so much better.” mumbling against your skin, the moment would have been considered sweet if it weren’t for the words that came from his mouth.
it was a gross scene in retrospect, but you could think about that later as he gave you no time to truly balance the weight of his words. pushing your panties to the side, and attaching his lips to your clit. sucking and licking as if he was the most experienced man in the world.
the action of course caused your body to violently react — harshly holding onto his hair as he got to work. uncontrollably, and honestly embarrassing, moans mixed with the obscenely loud slurping noises that park made. as your toes curled and back arched, he pulled your hips closer to his face. humping the edge of your couch cushions, jisung was slowly losing himself between your legs.
and it made you quickly lose your mind. with the sleepy haze, and intense pleasure that pulsed through your body, it wasn’t an easy feat to stay present and alert. head lolling to the side, all your senses are heightened, yet nonexistent at the same time. a particularly powerful thrust of his fingers rocketing you back into reality, only for his tongue to ease you back into a delirious state.
giving you one more long lick, he lifted himself up. eagerly tugging at his own pants, park pulled his sweats and boxers down to his knees — freeing his aching and alarmingly red cock from it’s confinements.
dazed and unaware, jisung gripped onto your chin. connecting your lips. as his lips ravished yours, he could only hope and pray you don’t realize that he didn’t have a condom, and had no plans on retrieving one either.
kissing the corners of your lips, he lifted your hips and gently rubbed the skin. lining himself up, he slowly pushed himself inside. throwing his head back, your higher moana again mixed and mingled with his lower groans.
“i love you so much, oh my god.” mostly speaking to himself, jisung wasnt slow with his thrusts. his hips meeting yours every few seconds, he wasn’t bound to last.
he was a virgin after-all.
hunching over your body, park continued to mumble i love yous into your hair. hips freezing up for a second when your arms wrapped around his neck — pulling him down into yet another kiss. moaning into your mouth, his body tensed before he knew it. emptying out inside, you were quick to follow. your cum mixing before trickling down your leg and onto the old couch.
nothing compares to a quite evening alone, but that never happens. not with jisung present. in the end, he took whatever peace you could have, all away from you.
Tumblr media
after the fact — hey guys!! i actually hope you enjoyed this just as much as i enjoyed writing it. i don’t know if it’s obvious, but ptv and paramore really inspired me to write this. if you couldn’t tell from the title and lyric usage throughout the whole thing. i tried to add a little story, i hope it makes sense😞 pls dont tell me if it doesn’t actually.

Something that always bugs me is that the way fanfic authors have it, there's absolutely nothing between 'beloved son treated and raised precisely the same as the two blood siblings in the blood based ruling lineage' and 'despised and excluded indentured servant psychologically manipulated into having no self worth cut off from any emotional support'. This is, historically, a very, VERY recent binary, as the fostering system outgrows things like orphanages and the idea of the nuclear family is cemented.
There is a whole range of different statuses that exist between those two extremes just in Western society, and more than that outside of what I already know. Wardship, for example. Fostering without adoption. Room and board apprenticeship.
Wwx is older than jc. Him being adopted and legitimised, despite not being jiang, would cause a succession crisis. By rights, as the eldest male (and prodigious and well liked besides) he would be first to inherit in some people's eyes. Being adopted formally in this way would cause those rumours of bastardry madame yu was always banging on about (though I'm never convinced those rumours were as prevalent as she believed). Jfm would lose reputation and status, yzy would take a tremendous hit to her reputation, jc's place as heir would suddenly be cast into uncertainty, coming under intense scrutiny as people suddenly feel as though they had a choice in who to support, and wwx would be forced into a role and potential future he has absolutely no desire for. And by putting him in a position where he could become head of jiang, there's the risk that he might assassinate jc to become the undisputed heir, something impossible if he isn't brought into the family officially. Would wwx ever dream of doing so? No! Not even slightly! But it is a valid fear of the time and culture, jgy just proves that worst case scenario.
Instead of being the child prodigy coming out of nowhere, the son of respected rogue cultivators so generously taken in the jiang and well trained, suddenly he'd be 'proof' of infidelity, both families involved would become scandals, even post-humeously. As jgy and mxy prove, being a bastard is a lower social status than the right hand man of the sect heir, head disciple of a major sect. Now wrapped in gossip and scandal, they would no longer be called the prides of yunmeng.
And then of course that kind of divisive succession would backfire horrendously when lotus pier is burned and jc tries to rebuild the clan while wwx goes demonic cultivator! It would be DISASTROUS for the jiang, jc having lost a lot of his legitimacy and political support, wwx's now filthy reputation being tied even tighter to the clan, reflecting on them so much more. Worst case gossip would be that the jiang as a whole are turning to demonic cultivation. People who wanted wwx for heir would be in a very dangerous position! People who disliked jc as heir would make it even harder for him! Not that the jiangs would/could have predicted the war and the burning of the sect but fr it would have made an already nigh impossible situation even harder and more volatile.
And it's not like wwx is treated purely like a servant! He isn't going round fetching tea and carrying jcs sword and keeping one step behind. He eats every meal with them, he gets pocket money from them, he is openly and pretty universally considered siblings with the other two, and nobody except yzy acts like it's weird, or he's acting above his station for it (though people like the wens and jin aren't above trying to use that 'son of a servant' thing when they're targeting him to get their own way).
Yes, yzy is deeply insecure and blames him, yes during their goodbyes jc gets hugs and wwx gets orders. They're far from perfect. That's the most affection jc ever got from either of them. Jyl got nothing, she wasn't there. Which is pretty representative of her treatment from her parents, ngl. But wwx had support from jc, had sorta paternal support and a safe authority figure in jfm, had maternal support and care from jyl (though she shouldn't have had to, but that's a different conversation). There are actual family servants (yzy's twins) who grew up with her and were trained for it and they act very differently to wwx. For all yzy throws her weight around and jfm is a bit of a doormat, wwx grew up well cared for and well loved.
The fact that the family as a whole was pretty messed up and his part in it made it worse? That's on the family members themselves. His never arriving would not have fixed that family. For wwx, genuinely, there really wasn't anywhere else he could really go once he was orphaned. If he hadn't died on the streets perhaps he could have made it as a civilian working for someone else, dabbling in cultivation because we know him.
The wen and jin would have eaten him alive. The lans? Don't make me laugh. I love a good 'wwx gets betrothed to lwj as teens and he moves to gusu and Fixes Everything' as much as the next person but let's not kid ourselves, canon wwx would have ended up whipped to death or expelled with the way he is. As a visiting disciple he got so many punishments and kicked out not even halfway through the year! Him living there with lwj as adults is due to him 'redeeming' himself through mystery solving and lwj being fully, openly ready to ditch the sect for him. Even then they're constantly on the road night hunting and lwj being the lightning rod of all of wwx's trouble making tendencies (and being 100% down to breaking the rules with him without enacting punishment). They might accept him now but it would not have happened without lwj doing it first (and the juniors all loving him lol).
The nie? Maybe, but that would have left NHS in pretty much the exact same position as jc: inferior second fiddle, unskilled, constantly compared to him. Wwx would be in the exact same position of being pressured to tone himself down and keep his dangerous ideas to himself, and NHS would have double the fear of inevitably losing both his brothers. And of course, the nie aren't exactly as patient and laid back as the jiang sect as a whole, with their hyper aggressive murder resentment swords. The first sign of wwx acting 'outside' of the clans best interests and getting risky and he's going straight down those stairs the same way as jgy.
Tldr: there's more options to raise a kid than full adoption or abused servitude, even today, and though officially adopting wwx would have made everything SO much worse, his other options would not have survived him. He deserved better with the jiangs but frankly so did the blood kids (and the mother and the father). All three were emotionally neglected and adoption would not have fixed that.
This is why I believe that if wwx had been even a day younger than jc everyone would have been so much happier.

For all the very self-sacrificial Wei Wuxian takes out there, I think they may actually fit Lan Wangji more?
…Before you disagree, there’s a big caveat to this – I don’t think these takes fit either of them well. But it’s interesting to compare their default responses to situations. Both want to help others – but whereas Wei Wuxian’s first instinct is to redirect (redirecting attacks to other targets, redirecting enemies’ attention to distract them, etc), Lan Wangji is much more direct in his protection*. And generally, that’s going to lead to putting yourself in harm’s way more often.
My favourite scene to demonstrate this is when Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji (alongside Jin Zixuan) are protecting Mianmian in the Xuanwu cave. Wei Wuxian does this by redirecting Wen Chao’s attention to him, provoking him and causing him to step out of Wen Zhuliu’s range of protection. Meanwhile, Lan Wangji stands in front of her, blocking her from danger directly… despite being at a disadvantage and already injured!
Wen Chao was enraged, shouting, “How dare you! Kill them!” A few of the Wen Sect’s disciples unsheathed their swords, rushing toward Lan WangJi and Jin ZiXuan (...) the two boys were at a loss in terms of both weaponry and sheer numbers. Even more, after the past days of being constantly on the move, they were in quite a bad state, not to mention that Lan WangJi had been injured. They definitely wouldn’t be able to last long. Chapter 52, EXR translation
This is a scenario with high stakes (Mianmian’s life), but also with multiple solutions, meaning that their choices aren’t muddied by there only being one option. Yet we still see Lan Wangji directly defend – despite the fact that, if Wei Wuxian hadn’t intervened, he almost certainly would have died! And that’s true of another moment in the Xuanwu cave I never hear anyone talk about:
Before Wei WuXian could think of what to do next, his body tilted as somebody shoved him to the side. Lan WangJi had pushed him out of the way. With this opportunity, the jaws of the beast had closed, biting down on his leg. Wei WuXian’s right leg hurt from simply watching the scene. Lan WangJi’s face was still expressionless. He had only frowned slightly. Afterward, he was immediately dragged away! (...) Lan WangJi didn’t expect that [Wei Wuxian] could catch up even under such circumstances. He was utterly shocked. Chapter 53, EXR translation
Admittedly, this is a scenario with more limited options, which is why I mentioned Mianmian first. But his reaction stays consistent – directly blocking somebody from a threat with his own body. And again, he didn’t think Wei Wuxian could do anything to rescue him! He does not expect to survive, and we just… don’t talk about this???
(And note that when Wei Wuxian rescues him, he actually puts himself in less danger! Again, this is mainly due to the limited solutions – you can’t rescue someone who’s already bitten down on by blocking the mouth from biting down on them – but he’s still in a position where he does have the option to get out of the situation if he chooses (he’s not between the teeth! His hands are opening the teeth from the outside, his feet are on its shell, he can jump into the water at any time and does after Lan Wangji is safe. There is danger of the Xuanwu choosing to attack him, but his position on its own doesn’t put him in mortal peril, which is not the case for Lan Wangji here). So though it doesn’t give us that much insight into how he prefers to deal with situations, the dynamic is still interesting to consider with regard to how fanon!WWX is often treated.)
Now, maybe these examples are unfair. Maybe Lan Wangji here was very tired (he was), stressed (he was) and not thinking straight, and so he just didn’t think of other options that he would’ve chosen in normal circumstances. If that’s the case, it still supports my point – no matter his eventual course of action, his first thought/instinct is still to obstruct directly – but this isn’t just a pattern limited to this arc, and to such high-stakes situations. For example, look at his reaction when the Wens order the Lans to burn the Cloud Recesses (and though I’d be very surprised if Lan Wangji wasn’t stressed here too, he’s at least less tired).
Wei WuXian, “Is Lan Zhan’s leg related to this?” The disciple, “Of course. The first place that Wen Xu ordered them to burn down was the Library Pavilion. He declared that he’ll teach anyone who wasn’t willing to do it a lesson. Lan WangJi refused. He was attacked by Wen Xu’s people and they broke one of his legs.” - Chapter 52, EXR translation
I say this is low-stakes because actions won’t actually have that much of an impact – though there is danger, the Cloud Recesses are going to be burned down no matter what, so it’s not something you’re risking by not acting to prevent it. Yet Lan Wangji still chooses to directly oppose, to directly protect the pavilion as much as he can (even if that’s very little, and even if I do think the main factor here was actually his refusal to go against his principles and burn down the Cloud Recesses, not him trying to protect them. But that still leads to the same course of action: to act very directly). And again, that results in direct bodily harm to him**!
But even in situations where he’s not stressed or under any pressure, we still see that direct protection is his default. Just look at the way he acts towards Wei Wuxian in the present day. One of his very first actions towards him (and pretty much the very first after finding out his identity!) is to block Jiang Cheng from hurting ‘Mo Xuanyu’ with Zidian – to quote EXR, “[Wei Wuxian] hadn’t been hit by the whip yet only because Lan WangJi acted as a barricade in front of him.” – and after that we often see him protecting Wei Wuxian from dogs, we see him let Wei Wuxian stand behind him when Jiang Cheng is angry at the Golden Core reveal (Chapter 102), we even see him protecting Wei Wuxian from things they both know he can face (Su She):
On the other hand, Lan WangJi gripped Bichen in one hand as he grabbed Wei WuXian’s waist with his other, pushing Wei WuXian behind him for better protection. In reality, Wei WuXian had no need for his protection, but he still leaned against his body with both comfort and compliance. Chapter 104, EXR
None of this leads to any harm of either of them, but it still holds true to the pattern of Lan Wangji protecting by physically putting himself between what he’s defending, and harm’s way. This response of his is extremely consistent! And it’s not just towards Wei Wuxian either – there’s a tiny moment in the Lotus Seed Pod extra which you could argue fits this pattern, where Lan Wangji chooses to physically hold the heavy roof of an abandoned shed to block the rain from reaching an injured man and a few other people, rather than trying something like using wood from the shed (including the four pieces of unattached wood propping the shed up) to build a temporary shelter for them until help arrives. The circumstances and therefore actions are slightly different, but the process leading to them is still the same – Lan Wangji still acts in the most direct way he can to protect the people from the rain, which does involve exerting himself even in a situation where there would probably be other ways to solve it (even if his Lan arm strength means he can hold the roof up without a problem). It’s not a deliberate choice to do whatever puts him in harm’s way the most, but directly using himself to protect people, whatever form that takes, is his main and default course of action.
The final thing I want to mention is that even Lan Wangji’s ‘big reveal’ moment – him being the one to take Wei Wuxian away from Nightless City, fighting 33 elders to protect him – calls back to this trait as well (MDZS is so well put together)! Once more, Lan Wangji is directly protecting, risking and suffering serious bodily harm as a result. Recovering took a few years!
…And yet. I never see anybody thinking Lan Wangji is self-sacrificial. I’d argue they’re right – but why? Why, when he puts himself in harm’s way more than Wei Wuxian does?
Maybe it’s because of something like this: ‘but he does this because he loves Wei Wuxian and doesn’t want to see him hurt, and protecting others is just part of his morals! It doesn’t point to any issue within him, he does have a stable sense of self and self-worth – at least there isn’t anything pointing to the opposite’.
Which, again, I’d argue is right.
But… does that really not apply to Wei Wuxian, too?
---
*And there are moments where they don’t act like this, especially for Wei Wuxian, but that’s generally in situations where there aren’t any other options which still lead to them accomplishing their goals. Protecting the Wens by… redirecting the Jianghu’s hatred towards other people? How would he do that? How would that help anything??
**It’s quite interesting to think of how Wei Wuxian would act in these situations, actually – both being forced to burn down the Cloud Recesses (or Lotus Pier, in this case), and in preventing (in this case) Lan Wangji from being eaten by a Xuanwu rushing towards him. The first, I’m not actually sure what exactly he would do (especially as nothing he can do will stop the burning) – I’m not sure he’d just go along with it, but I don’t see him just refusing to despite that not doing anything, either (especially since if he’s unharmed, he’ll be more able to protect his shidi and shimei if they’re in danger, since he’s a much more skilled cultivator/fighter than they are), at least not in the same way. Hearing people’s thoughts on that would be really interesting, actually!
As for the second – if there’s really no time to change anything about the head or its direction, he would probably do the same (with the only other option being letting Lan Wangji die). But if there was the smallest room to change something, I could definitely see him activating another fire talisman (to distract the Xuanwu and redirect its attention to the pillar of flame instead of Lan Wangji, even if just for a moment). And even if self sacrifice really needed to be an option, with no way out beside it, I think Wei Wuxian’s would take the form of redirecting the Xuanwu’s head towards him rather than directly blocking it from reaching Lan Wangji. When he does put himself in danger in canon, this is usually how he does it (see: him redirecting the corpses towards himself during the Second Siege, while Lan Wangji is protecting him and blocking them from reaching him… another nice example of their situational response!).
I do plan on writing a separate meta about Wei Wuxian’s tendency to redirect, though, so some of these points may be reiterated there.

Haikyu Boys Caught With Their Best Friend's Sister (Featuring Kuro Tetsuro)
Tumblr media
Kuro knows how wrong this is but he did everything in his power to not fall for his best friend's sister. It's been a month since he started dating you behind your brother's back, he knows that it's disrespectful and he's risking his friendship with Kenma, knowing how much he adores you. But Kuro waited for so long, and fought his feelings it made his chest tighten whenever he'll see you but can only pretend to see you as a younger sister.
He treasures his friendship with Kenma but the way your skin feels warm and hot against his hands makes his brain malfunction, all he could think is how every inch of you must be worshipped, he breatehs into your skin, gently nipping, and marking the parts that his lips could reach as you arch your back and rake your fingers in his scalp. "T-Tetsu…" you chanted his name like a prayer and Kuro felt the last fiber of control he has in him snap just by hearing your sinful voice call out his name.
He met your eyes, his hand still roaming underneath your shirt as you sigh in pleasure. "Use your words, love. Tell me what you want…" he teased, gently nibbling on your ear and you groaned in frustration, earning a laugh from the man on top of you.
"God, I love you so much YN." he whispered leaning down to kiss you on your lips.
He lets you settle on his lap, his hands still under your shirt as you both try to watch the movie. He's kissing your nape, while his eyes was fixed on the television. "Love…" he breathed, calling your attention. "Why?" you asked, turning to face him.
Kuro took his hands out from under your shirt with a sigh before kissing the tip of your nose, "A-Are you ready to tell Kenma?" he asked, his hands finding yours, massaging it gently before kissing the back of it.
You know how conflicted he must feel, he wouldn't have hide this relationship if not for your request to not let your brother know. You were worried about how Kenma would react and you wouldn't want to be part from Kuro.
"Soon, love. I promise…" you whispered, hugging him, letting him bury his face on your neck.
Kuro held you tightly, even if his chest if filled with worry, he let himself find peace as he holds you in his arms.
But that peace was soon cut off when the doorbell rang and you both were snatched away from your little safe paradise.
Kuro looked at you, waiting for your confirmation of who might be the visitor but the moment you jumped out his arms, Kuro knew who's outside.
"Oh shit, that's my brother. Oh my God, Tetsu you need to hide!"
Kuro didn't have any chance to think when you pushed him towards the bathroom and locked it before you went to open the door to greet your brother.
Kuro pressed his ear agains the door, his jaw clenching as he looked down at the tent on his pants. "Fuck shit." he cussed, he knew it, he knew that it wouldn't be long till his luck ran out but still, he couldn't feel any regret because every stolen moment he had with you was the best of his life, if your relationship might cause a problem with his friendship with Kenma, he would take all the blame.
Kenma walked inside your flat with his usual bored expression, "Is this a bad time?" he asked, examining your flustered look and heavy breaths. Your eyes widened and shook your head, "N-No, I-I was just cleaning and kinda forgot you'll drop off some of my things." it wasn't long since you moved out of your parents' home so you still have some of your stuffs left in there and Kenma volunteered to bring your stuffs so you won't have to do it.
You were just so caught up with Kuro's sinful touch that you forgot that he's coming over tonight.
"Okay…" he handed a bag to you. "Mom said not to bring all of your stuffs, she said she'd like your room there to stay that way." he told you, his eyes scanning your flat as if taking in the details. His eyes carefully scanned your furnitures, his head tilting a little as he tried to take a look of the kitchen, before they went back to meet your eyes.
"Your flat looks way better than last time, you decorated well."
You could only nod your head, usually your brother won't stay for so long to say stuffs like this does he miss you or he's just trying to torment you? "Y-Yeah, I just looked at some Pinterest inspo and stuffs…"
"Cool, hey can I use your bathroom real quick?"
You internally panicked and your instinct kicks in, holding onto your brother's sleeve before he could take another step closer towards your bathroom. "I-I haven't cleaned it yet….it's clogged and I-" Kenma looked down on your hand gripping his sleeve, "You don't know how to fix a clogged toilet? How are you gonna live alone? I'll fix it for you." Kenma removed you hands off his sleeve and walked over to the bathroom, opening the door.
Kuro couldn't hear anything no matter how hard he tries to press his ear against the door, even if he hears some noise, it's all muffled and inaudible, his heart hammers against his chest but he chose to stay calm waiting for you to come and open the door, so when he heard the doorknob click, he sighed in relief but his face went pale when he saw his best friend's face when the door opened.
Kenma was stunned, and there was a dead silence between the three of you. But when he was able to came back to his senses, he looked at Kuro from head to toe, and he saw that he's holding his shirt in his right hand and Kenma looked at him with lazy eyes.
"I knew that you've been hiding a boy for a month now but never in my wildest dreams that I imagined it to be Kuro."
That was the only thing that came out Kenma's mind, in fact, those words were blurted out without any careful thought process, it wasjust him simply stating the fact in front of him, his best friend shirtless hiding in your bathroom, looking flustered as he meet his gaze.
Kenma has suspicions that you are dating someone but he never imagined that it would be Kuro, though he wouldn't deny the way his best friends' gaze lingers on you whenever he thinks that he's not looking. A part of Kenma believed that Kuro wouldn't do anything without consulting him.
He doesn't know what to feel, his best friend and his sister, two of the most important people in his lives hiding like criminals, not trusting that he would understand the situation, as if he'll take it out agains them for falling in love.
He felt a pang of pain in his chest when he came up with that realization. But didn't say anything and wiats for you and Kuro to try and talk for yourselves.
Kuro couldn't utter a word, not when he couldn't decipher the tone laced in Kenma's voice.
"L-Let me explain, I was the one who pursued YN,I fell in love first. I'm the one to blame."
You went to Kuro's side to hold his hand, "But I was the one who wanted to keep it a secret…I was scared and…I don't want you to be mad. I-I love him, Ni-chan." you admitted honestly, squeezing Kuro's hand to tell him that you're in this mess together.
Kenma sighed as he looked at the two of you with his cat like eyes, he didn't like the idea of the two of you hiding just because you both thought that he wouldn't understand but Kenma decided that he'd rather keep it to himself because he couldn't recall a moment where he saw your eyes sparkle the way they do as you look at Kuro and as a big brother, he wouldn't want to put an end to you and his best friend's happiness "Whatever. I'm not against any of this but have some decency to at least cover up your hickeys.." he looked at you intensely, the kind that he gives you when he's about to scold you, "You're still my baby sister…" he told you before looking at Kuro with a glare, "And you're still my best friend."
