@xcziel dropped this in the tags to this post: (why is there not a gbbo/cooking show au in the dmbj verse yet??? pangzi as gordon ramsay!), which got me thinking..
Pangzi's show is a love letter to comfort food, from street vendors selling steamed buns to toothless grandmothers making perfect mooncakes.  A lot of it is just pure food porn: sizzling fried goods, shimmering sugar-dusted desserts, all eaten with lip-smacking relish.  Watching the delight on the faces of the "everyday" cooks as they recognize Pangzi's well-known, pink-aproned figure is half the fun of the show, including how everyone immediately moves in for that trademarked Pangzi hug.  The other half of the fun is the horror on the faces of pretentious restaurant owners when they look over to see Pangzi sitting at one of their tables, because Pangzi didn't earn his own Michelin star just to be served half-assed "fusion" cuisine.  He once threw an owner literally across the dining room when he caught him taking his servers' tips.
Xiaoge's show has almost as many wilderness-hiking fans as cooking fans, because half the show is the process of catching or foraging whatever he is going to cook that week.  It's full of loving panoramas of mountains or wetlands, or meat being turned slowly over an open fire, or artistic shots of water droplets catching the light as a shirtless Xiaoge catches fish with his bare hands.  (There are also a fair number of fans who are not there for the cooking or the wilderness.)  People who do better with visual than verbal mediums love it; there's almost no talking, just Xiaoge measuring salt in the palm of his hand, or holding up a speared snake to the camera.  He smiled onscreen once and Weibo crashed.
Wu Xie's cooking channel is... well.  See, his thing is recreating ancient recipes: and we mean ancient.  We mean "Oh, hey, a buddy of mine at college excavated a centuries-old tomb and gave me a scraping from the bread he found, let's see if any of the yeast is still active!".  We mean "I found this manuscript that's a recipe for either soup or an emetic, only one way to find out!". The viewership spikes whenever he brings out his grandfather’s handwritten cookbook.  All of this is done in the preppiest, most generic kitchen imaginable.  There are video compilations of every time he's been sick on screen, and he's had to go to the hospital twice.   It's INSANELY popular.
Xie Yuchen's show has the best of everything.  His kitchen is a museum to modern aesthetic and engineering, featuring top-of-the-line appliances and cookware, all of which he has done designer-dressed promotional marketing for.  His food is exquisite, but not pretentious; every ingredient is chosen with precision whether it comes from the nearby market or had to be flown in specially from Iceland.  His platings are works of art. There is a popular meme of fans photoshopping faces onto the cooking implements he is handling - fans, animals, other cooking celebs; it started as an "ooh, I wish he was handling me like that" thing, but by now everyone agrees that the one with Wu Xie's vomiting face where it looks like he's barfing milk into a bowl is the best.
Hei Xiazi does not have a cooking show.  There is no way that what he does can actually be called cooking, and even calling it "food assembly" is stretching the definition of food.  "Dubiously moral science experiment" is one descriptor that has been used: "medical malpractice" is another.  The largest container on his counter is for MSG, the second-largest for salt.  The heart association once ran a campaign of his face on a "Most Wanted" poster. (He adores these, and always brings a big stack of them to events to autograph.) He once did a six-month challenge where he refused to use any ingredient that did not come out a can, only stopping when he realized that this did not noticeably change the content of his show.  (It's called "Throwing Shade".)  A framed photograph of Xie Yuchen features prominently on a shelf in the background, about which neither of them will answer any questions.
Bai Haotian's cooking show is officially the cutest thing on television, with an energy that jumps at you through the screen.  Her recipes are from all over the world; it's not the cuisine that attracts her, but the potential for excitement.  New viewers are baffled by the fact that the overalls-wearing Xiao Bai's kitchen seems to be set in a garage, right up until she whips out a bright pink welder's mask and acetylene torch to caramelize meringues. (Needless to say, it has a VERY high lesbian viewership.)  She lends her voice talents to a spinoff animated show for children (with a VERY profitable merchandising line) where "Princess Bai" saves mythical creatures through the power of cooking.  Fans were successfully able to sort every single one of her recipes into a Venn diagram with three circles: soy sauce, marshmallows, and fire.

Hello, my babies.
A while ago, I wrote a post for you all on needing renter’s (or tenant) insurance. Now I want to help guide you all into cooking with a few tips from me to you. YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE AFRAID TO LEARN HOW TO COOK. You can do it, I believe in u. Okay, here we go:
DON'T BE AFRAID OF KNIVES. Have a very SHARP KNIFE. A dull knife will hurt you worse than a sharp one. If you ever invest in knife, let be a good, classic kitchen knife. It’s what you’ll do most of your food prep with.  YOU DON’T NEED AN ENTIRE WOODEN BLOCK OF KNIVES. You’ll probably never use all of them.
Always wash your knives by hand. I'm not talking about regular old butter knives or even cheap-o steak knives that couldn't cut anything more than cooked meat. I'm talking about the one I just told you to invest in. The dishwasher will RUIN them. And you know what, wash your pots and pans by hand, too. I KNOW I’M ASKING YOU NOT TO BE LAZY. But if you’ve received a nice set of cookware for graduation or as a housewarming gift or wedding shower gift, treat that shit right. Clean the sides, clean the bottom; your dishwasher won’t gently caress it the way you will.
You don't need 98% of unitaskers. (GARLIC PRESS:  #1 EXCEPTION!!!!!!) If you think about an object and it literally only has one function, it's just taking up space and I know a lot of you may already have a limited space to work with. Buzzfeed loves to promote a tool to core strawberries on nearly every 'BUY ME' kitchen list but really? HOW MANY FUCKIN’ STRAWBERRIES ARE YOU TAKING THE MIDDLE OUT OF? Do you really ever look at a strawberry and go ‘GRASPING THAT GREEN LEAFY TOP AS I EAT THE ENTIRE STRAWBERRY IN ONE GO IS TOO FUCKING MUCH.’ If you do, then please waste space and money on a strawberry corer. Just think about this: How often are you going to use it and how much time does it actually save? On the flip side, a potato peeler also works for other veggies - definitely not a unitasker.
If you don't cut/chop/dice your food consistently, then it won't all cook at the same temperature. If you have one super thick cut of meat and try to cook it for the same length of time as a piece cut more thinly, either the thick cut is going to be raw as fuck in the middle and you might make someone sick, or the thin cut is going to be the leather version of whatever it was because you cooked it too long to match the other piece. Uniformity is important with food prep.
GET A FUCKING MEAT THERMOMETER. If you don't know what you're doing absolutely do not use the 'hand test' to check the doneness of meat. Don’t even google that shit if you don’t know what it means. Save $15.00, get a meat thermometer, and be done with it. 
Spices go bad. If you smell it and it smells like nothing anymore, or it's super clumpy, or you know it's been over a year since you've used it, toss it and buy fresh.
READ EVERY. SINGLE. RECIPE. AND EVERY. SINGLE. STEP. AHEAD. OF. TIME.
Taste your food as you cook. I mean it. I REALLY MEAN IT. Don't be afraid of salt. Pasta and potatoes NEED SALT. When you start boiling water for pasta, SALT THE WATER LIKE THE OCEAN. Salt in home cooked food is not going to kill you. All the added salt in packaged foods to preserve them is where you should worry. (I mean, do what your doctor says if you're on a low-sodium diet but as long as you're not licking salt at home you should be okay.) When you're making a sauce, taste it before you declare it done. Is it bland? ADD SALT. Don't go absolutely apeshit with salt; the more you cook the more you'll figure it out.
(Also, I know it can be expensive to buy fresh veggies. I know it can. But canned foods are not great for you. Frozen veggies are better!)
Freezing food does not mean it will last forever?????? I KNOW WE ALL WANT TO BELIEVE THAT. Just because you put something there doesn't mean it will hang in stasis like Fry from Futurama and be good to go as soon as you thaw it out. If you have meat in your fridge that's been there for over 4-6 months, toss it. *NOTE: I meant to say freezer here but fuck if you have meat in your fridge for 4-6 months PLEASE ALSO THROW IT AWAY.
I know a lot of people are on budgets, so plan your meals before you ever go to the store and write a list based on what you need to buy. Put your spices where you can see them otherwise you'll wind up with multiple items that are all the same. Writing a list seems like a chore, but if you go to the store with a plan, you'll definitely save money.
If you go shopping for, say, a week's worth of dinners, compare your ingredients. If three recipes call for milk, for example, maybe you buy a quart instead of a pint. It's just a better way to not buy too little or too much of anything you might need.
Have fun. Look, odds are you're not cooking for the Queen. You’re not on Chopped. If you fuck up who cares? At the very worst you're going to have to toss everything and call out for delivery. It's okay to screw up in the kitchen, just never serve anything raw that isn't supposed to be and you'll avoid making people sick. Learning to cook isn't a scary thing. Utilize youtube. Watch this Gordon Ramsay video to learn how to chop an onion. (His channel, in general, has taught me a LOT.) 
Experiment, cook often. It's the only way you'll learn.

Teflon is one of the favorite brands of non-stick coated cookware. The non-stick cookware would emit one type of chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) when the pan is overheated. The PFOA has been linked to cancer and reproductive problems.
​Moreover, the fumes from overheated Teflon pans would also cause illness which is known as polymer fume fever. The symptoms of the fume fever are chills, fever, headache, and nausea.

Proper Ways of Using Stainless Steel Cookware
Do not expect the stainless steel cookware to cook as Teflon does. But if you manage cooking temperature, preheating time and balance of oil and I am sure that you will cook a perfect dishes.
​If there are some food particles stuck on the stainless steel cookware, try to soak with hot soapy water for a little longer (or overnight) before washing it. Do not scrub it with steel wool or scouring pad because this would cause permanent damage to your stainless steel cookware.
​Use wooden or nylon cooking utensils when cooking on your stainless steel cookware to prevent scratches which, again, would lead to permanent damages to the cookware.
