I hate to revive DNI discourse when it just ended on this blog but I often don’t think it’s as deep as people make it out to be and there’s a lot of, for lack of a better word, ~valid~ reasons someone may have a DNI. Like there’s absolutely contexts of “Kink Blogs DNI” disclaimers having an anti, swerf, etc undertone but sometimes I get it — for example I follow a couple of disability activists who post A LOT about incontinence, needing a caregiver, ETC who have stuff like “ABDL/DDLG/Devotee Blogs DNI.” Oftentimes that is not an indicator on their moral stance of those kinks, but rather them just being like “hey this is an activism-based journal where I post about incredibly personal things in regards to my own life, and while anyone has the right to read or reblog from me, if you’re clearly getting off to my medical needs or even if I get the vague impression you are, you WILL be blocked.”

Obviously that is an incredibly extreme and personal example, but I don’t think having a DNI boundary in your bio is ALWAYS a morality/discourse stance. On a much lighter note, I’m pretty active on Kpop Twitter, and there’s a lot of “RPF DNI” accounts there, and I think that’s more of a “I just want to post about my favorite band without shippers quote retweeting/replying to make it about their ship, and if you do so, I’ll block you. They’ve made public statements against these ships or about their real relationships and I am uncomfortable with people trying to dispute that.”

Oh yes there’s absolutely antis who hate RPF communities and all they stand for. But there’s also people who just straight up don’t want that on their account.

And like. As someone casually involved with RPF (i gossip about potential relationships with close friends and will reblog joke posts about it and will read it, but I’m not a writer for it and I’m definitely not someone who actually tries to speculate just how heavy the “fiction” part of an RPF ship might be), whether or not I choose to follow a person with such DNI depends on context. I keep my RPF ships/opinions off my main account, and even if I DO see a post that I would otherwise interpret as possibly shippy, I just won’t bring it up on said person’s posts, you know?

Damn this made me remember I have a DNI myself on one my accounts, 🤣 I have a minors DNI on one of my sideblogs. But I know I can’t prevent minors from seeing my posts or lying about their age or reblogging to a private sideblog or doing anything else that would go unnoticed. But once I do notice you interacting, if you’re clearly underage I’ll block you, just cuz I don’t feel comfortable with minors following my smutty fanart account even if I know minors look at smutty fanart, as someone who did look at smutty fanart as a minor. . .🎶Maybe I’m the problem it’s me. 🎶

It's a stupid phrasing and no amount of validity in the criteria will make it less stupid.

No one here thinks they're always deep and meaningful. What we all say every time this comes up is that it's bad to conflate "I will block you if..." and "It is your job to research my boundaries ahead of time".

I'm not interested in people crying about how they like using an inaccurate term and everyone is supposed to understand what they mean. In practice, many people do mean that it's other people's job to enforce their boundaries for them. Validating this garbage terminology just encourages them.

It's a stupid, shitty term and we should move away from it.

You know, for a show with so many female characters that so many of us love given how they all get time in the spotlight one way or another and they fill that time up rather wonderfully since they are deeper and more developed than what we're used to seeing in general media, it is peculiar (to say the least) to see so few "alternative" ships to the main one.

I'm not saying the canon ship doesn't deserve its attention -- I'm wondering instead why the canon ship and it alone seem to guide the WN fans who just so happen to enjoy writing/reading fic or fanart or whatever.

You'd think all these cool women would inspire more ships or combinations thereof, but those of us who aren't invested in avatrice just... Float along, around one another, ignored (and, yes, mostly undisturbed too; being unpopular does have its advantages and that includes a lot less weirdos leaving you strange or awkward messages -- it does not, however, shield us from people flooding our goddamn tags on AO3 with fic that has nothing to do with our little ships and I do wish such negligence of the pairing itself meant we didn't have to deal with this spam...)

I am also not saying that fandom activity should be based solely on shipping (and recently someone on Reddit was rather confused by the fact that a lot of it is, which is quite an interesting topic to discuss in itself -- after all, there is more to fan creativity than shippy fic... Or there used to be), merely that, here, it appears that a canon relationship can outshine interest in the other, non-canon ones. It's already there and it was doubtless well-done by the show, so it's natural that it should claim people's attention, sure. It's just that being canon was never the parameter for whether people were interested in these or those two (or more) characters maybe being involved and trying to explore what that could mean through fanwork.

There has always been a complaint haunting fandom spaces concerning the minuscule amounts of f/f fic, art, discussion, w/e based on how few (interesting or sympathetic or relatable) female characters there are in media at large. So what I'm curious about is why fan creations made around WN -- a show that finally gives us a whole cast of female characters that are what we have been craving for decades -- don't also reflect its diversity.

There are alternative ships (I'm here, all happy in my tiny Doctor Superion bubble, and I know there are Camila/Lilith, Ava/Lilith, Mary/Shannon, Mary/Lilith shippers out there, so a warm hello to you if you're reading this), but go on AO3 and compare the numbers of things tagged with these proper pairings to the grand total of WN stories. Better (or worse) still, do so with the "otp: true" trick or simply by excluding avatrice from the search to see how many are left.

It's... A considerable difference. And a mystery, at least to me.

I never watched James Somerton's shitty Killing Stalking video because I was trying to be good to myself and avoid something that I knew would make me very angry. In fact, I never watched any of his stuff because the fact that he made a video like that was enough to discount any thing he ever had to say (also I heard about the Celluloid Closet plagiarism).

But man, is the James Somerton discourse bringing a lot of Killing Stalking-related feelings back up for me. Because I'm mad; I'm still so mad. There are a suprising amount of people on social media who are saying they never watched any of his stuff except for the Killing Stalking video. I'm annoyed not just to find out that the vid had that sort of reach and influence, but also because Somerton's unmasking hasn't seemed to make people reasses the validity of the kind of thing he was saying. People are just now being like "hmm I think this guy might have Issues With Women" but that doesn't warrant any reflection on what exactly the motivation is of people who complain about women enjoying a niche webcomic? Because I don't actually believe you're concerned about the influence of some obscure piece of media when you advertise its existence to your large audience many of whom had not heard of it and would never have heard of it but for your transparent outrage porn video. It's rage bait and the target was women that are perceived as straight. A big channel has publicized the fact that they excised a section that endorsed the opinions in this video from their own because they became aware of Somerton's plagiarism and dishonesty (presumably; if it was actually because they recognized his views were coming from a sexist place I would welcome a clarification). And you know, I don't think that's a good look actually. That you needed to be told he was a bad person and couldn't idependently put together that the misogynist man was saying misogynist things.

The comic ended years ago and the fandom has gone mostly quiet, but to this day people are still the peddling the"fujoshi/stupid teenage girls who don't know what's good for them are shipping these characters because they are too braindead to realize it's not a romance; it's a horror, two things I believe are mutually exclusive. I am smarter than all of these cringe degenerates" bullshit. It's in the comments of the hbomberguy video even; one comment was such a gross misrepresentation of the series that my friend needed to talk me down from getting into a pointless youtube comments argument (bless him) because these people are officially making me lose my marbles.

This narrative is full of shit, it's demonstrably not fucking true. You can go on the artist's twitter right now and its full of her retweeting shippy fanart of that pairing readers were apparently never intended to ship.

(I don't think Koogi knows or cares about James Somerton; she just reblogs the works of fans who tag her. This made me laugh though).

Now this is all speculation because he died decades before social media existed, but I think if Nabokov was alive today his twitter would not be full of Humbert Humbert x Dolores Haze fanart. And yet, I have unironically seen people compare shipping Sangwoo and Bum in Killing Stalking with the misreading of Lolita as a precocious sexual temptress more than once.

And this isn't me saying that Killing Stalking is the disgusting"pro-sexualized abuse" comic that tumblr purity police used to characterize it as either. One of these days I'm going to go truly bonkers and end up banging pots and pans on the street corner, yelling at random innocent passerbys about how stories about romantic and sexual relationships are not required to be Hallmark movies. You can make art about the negative, dark, and troubling parts of these feelings and relationships without creating a pat morality tale. You don't need to approach media analysis like your 7th grade teacher has assigned you an essay on explaining what a novel's "message" is.

Nobody, not the author and not the fans, genuinely thinks that Sangwoo and Bum have a healthy or aspirational relationship. This hypothetical person that does not understand the relationship is toxic doesn't exist. Because girls and women, even the ones having cringey fandom fun on tiktok or whatever, are not so stupid and naive that they are unware that breaking someone's legs and locking them in a muder basement is bad. The type of concern troll rhetoric Somerton employed in his video is directed near exclusively at women interested in men and there's a reason for this. Women are not responsible for abuse that men do to them; nobody is responsible for their partner abusing them. If I never saw people spit this bullshit again it would be too soon.

hey c! can i ask how do we get over the feeling of embarassment when drawing self-indulgent shippy fanart? i've seen most of your amazing art and i've noticed that you don't seem to hold back when drawing fanarts, it's really beautiful with the way you portray characters' intimate relationships.. be it thru manga, illustrations, sketches. I have quite a lot of ideas on my mind that I want to draw similar to what you've drawn in terms of shipping characters, but I can't help but feel embarassed most of the time when I attempt to draw, thinking that it's "cringe" or I should draw something else with more deeper meaning into it, not just shippy stuff.. so I get very hesitant posting said art online or even starting the sketch (i haven't drawn 95% of my written ideas for nearly a year ;_; pain lol) since a few of my friends might see and question it lmao but deep down i really want to draw them ofc! i'm just very scared with what others think, but I do want to show myself more through my art and what I really like to draw.. Have you had a similar feeling of embarassment too c? I might never show it but actually I relate to you so hard, it's not once or twice that I keep overthinking if my art is too self-indulgent and cringe, everytime I'm about to post my art I'm one click away to post it but I always have this nagging worry of people judging my art (even tho there's nothing wrong with it, for god's sake!!!) so I just spend another 30 minutes worrying about it until I close my eyes, flick my finger quickly, and close the tab.

And oh god in heaven put a curse on meme culture for this because there was this one instance when someone made a corny meme out of my art (that's not even a funny drawing) and dared to send it to me, I know it's only one person but it's enough to crush my confidence in drawing and posting shippy/emotional art.

Whenever I draw my favorite characters looking all seductive and cool I always worry people would think it's cringe, whenever I draw characters kissing I always worry people would think I'm weird, but then I remember about the other artists I like who post (their own) self-indulgent stuff and they make me joyous, I want people to feel the same way about my art when I post my own self-indulgent art too, so I guess that's what keeps me doing what I do today 😂

My 2023 resolution is just to stop giving a single damn about what people think of my art, if they think it's cringe then so be it, I can't control the mind of people, at least the cringe art gives me the happy brain chemicals and that's what truly matters 😊

Me before watching Haunted Mansion 2023 : "I'm gonna hate this the trailers are unfunny and I hate how the Hatbox Ghost is gonna be evil when Guillermo del Toro probably would have made him much more interesting as a true fan, this new movie sounds like a bait"

Me after watching it "ok I actually loved it and take back what I said, only those who made the trailer suck then ! The humor was nice and you felt it was made by fans who understood the lore and put their own twist to it, it truly felt like the spirit of the ride more than the 2003 movie. As for Alistair Crump, sure he will never be Hattie for me not just because he was evil because Hattie already was before in another adaptation but just because he was too different in term of character and I maintain he should have been the Phantom because he feels EXACTLY like him, he was still a great scary charismatic villain. Ride Hatbox Ghost and movie Alistair can cooexist !"

Me nearly one year later upon seeing the Hatbox Ghost tag is now almost exclusively filled with Alistair Crump posts and fanart, half of them thirsting, many calling the ride one Alistair, almost everybody seeing Hattie as evil like his movie self with his backstory now and good luck to find fun, shippy or silly posts about him like you used to using his ride or fan designs and fan backstories "...ah. maybe it was a mistake after all"

Idk if I was the first to make a Thing for them - there was some fanart and stuff floating around pre-S1's release but it seemed more Gen / I don't remember any being decidedly shippy - but all it took was these two screencaps and I was sold and making edits, so these are the first posts I made (actual first, second first / first edit). Shout out to my first L being that I thought they'd be called Cayla, good times

An early day desire (Sept 3rd 2018) was also for Callum to draw her, since we knew from their character bios that he was an artist. You can imagine how it felt when it actually happened in S2.

About Fluffybird, what do you think about the ship? What is your opinion and analysis about the relationships between the two?

righto heheh let's crack into these chuddy Ds--

tldr; fluffybird is the purest ship and it would be great if it became explicitly canon

first of all, I think the creators shipped fluffybird before they saw all the fanart! Duck and Red Guy's interactions even in the webseries have sweetness, and can be perceived as a suggestion of romance. Though these interactions could be platonic as well, the possibility of romance is there, and that's all any slow-burn romantic storyline starts as. maybe one day i'll list those telling moments, but that's a lot of work. lol. Back to the creator's shipping, idk, that's just speculation, but I think they easily had a fondness for red guy and duck's brand of affection for each other.

There are random moments that are just so shippy. I think these have all been pointed out by other ppl. Duck painting Red Guy as Red Guy stands like that?

c'mon. The fact that they both want to be the dads? why put that idea in our heads? When red guy says his fav color is medium brown and duck's eyes are MEDIUM BROWN? I like to think that everything the creators have chosen to do is intentional and serves some kind of purpose other than comedic value... could be wrong there, but it's what I'd like to think. oftentimes the jokes have meaning behind them after all.

As for their dynamic, it is really interesting and nuanced! I don't rly see any hate between them, tho there ain't nothin wrong with liking the "divorced" dynamic. what I think is that they are made unaware of the feelings they have for each other. The 3 are constantly in a state of disorientation. I've seen people say that the fridge scene is one of the only times they get close to voicing their genuine thoughts and feelings without being controlled in some way, and I agree. however, when it comes down to it, duck displays great attachment to red guy, always looking at him for protection or initiative, wanting to be a family with him, etc. for red guy, well, we all saw what happened when duck died. he lost his damn mind, and he didn't expect to. it's like, as I said, he has feelings for duck that he isn't conscious of.

i have a bad silly theory that duck and red guy were in love and together before they became puppets or something lol. i dunno, it's possible for all we know.

now i want to address the arguments against having red guy and duck having a canon romantic relationship ((and it seems like very few people seem to have arguments! this fandom is fluffybird all over<3). it sucks, but i feel like most of these arguments are charged with homophobia or just romance shaming. romance is already present in the show, and it's all been cishet (superficially. B nice if chars came out as trans canonically? Lol). Yellow and Speshul One, Yellow and Clair. Regardless of context, romance is already present, and why does no one get upset about it? Because it's cishet, i'd argue. no one even notices it. now these are obviously satirical presentations which i thank god for, but it's still there.

we also already have tender moments between the three main guys. people might argue that 'why can't two guys just be friends?!?!' yeah, they can, and they are across 99% of media. is 99% of portrayals not enough? there is so little lgbtqia+ content that this argument is just ridiculous.

there's the argument that romance would 'ruin' the show somehow. sounds like an internalized problem to me tbh. adding romance wouldn't detract from the existing elements of friendship; it would embellish that, presenting a unique relationship that does not conform to the restrictive standards of society. (this would not be the case for a cishet romance, though I won't go into that.)

if people have a problem with fluffybird, I think they really gotta ask themselves why, really question where those feelings of discomfort are coming from. it's not like i'm asking for a nsfw scene. i think red guy and duck would have a romantic love language that is completely unique, like their confession to each other in the fridge scene. The way this show subverts tropes and makes things so weird, it would be so cool to see how it handles a genuine romance. I imagine it would be cuddly and lots of sweet words to each other, like what they do now but more explicit in that it is romantic love.

I didn't really have a fixed ship to hang my hat on in those days (aka the before the internet tiemz), but Buffy and Pike (movie BTVS) were the main couple I fixated on back then (still was figuring out why movie Lestat and Louis made me feel funny in my tummy at that time, so Buffy and Pike were the easier option LOL)

2. Which ship would you consider your first one?

Roz and Dan from Night Court; I was 7 and I wanted them married and arguing until the end of time <3

3. Your first fanfic belonged to which couple?

(hops in the wayback machine) Pretty sure I was writing for Greg/Nick (CSI) just a bit before Ennis/Jack (Brokeback). Still so very thankful that those four introduced me to friends I'd still have in my life 20 years later!

I very clearly remember the Spangel fanvids that took more than day to download from our AOL dialup, yes XD

Had to go through my AO3 history, last time I had a clear enough head to attempt to read anything was early autumn last year (oof) and it was a modern AU of Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang that I don't think I finished because I really can't recall any of it. Ah, well.

Since I can't engage in fic it's hard for me to keep hold of the newer ships, so my brain tends to fall back on old reliables- Loustat/Loumand being at the top at this very moment because the fandom's waking up again for season 2 in May.

Another one that I can't think of anything.

20+ years ago I was slowly killing copious amounts of trees and our at-home printer with Spangel fics that I didn't want to lose (have since lost all of the printouts, and the fics are still online in their respective webrings, yikes) So yeah, Spangel would probably still win. Ennis/Jack, and Wangxian would round out the top three, I'm sure.

Lately it seems like I'm the only DT fan who doesn't care about MS and their friendship. It seems everyone swoons over them and in fact have gone so far with wild theories and have created fanart pairing their wives together (is that so they can feel free to ship the men without the wives in the way if they are paired off?).

Strange thing is that DT and CT speculation bothered me less back in the day, however, at the time, neither was married to someone half their age irl, let alone both.

What do you think of this phenomenon? I definitely think the actors play into it a bit, which the fans eat up, but something just feels off about it.

In the same way that I totally managed to miss people being so pissed off with DT for getting with Georgia instead of BP in the first place, over a decade ago, that they threatened her with burning at the stake; I've avoided any such pairing up of Georgia with Anna to leave their main ship free to dally. For that, I am eternally grateful.

In my ancient mind, MS is still with Kate Beckinsale, so what do I know? Obviously not much about him beyond his acting roles. Midlife crisis, successful male picks extremely young partner. How unusual. Not.

Neil stressed that Aziraphale and Crowley are angels without human passions or need of physical expression of desire. With that in mind, I hadn't progressed to the fervent shipping of the two characters in a sexual relationship - doesn't get further than wondering if most of these artists have ever seen a cottage on the South Downs, or can point to the area on a map, if I'm honest - so definitely won't have fantasised about about DT and MS living out a swoon worthy shippy relationship.

Not that I'm dissing anyone who does, but it just isn't for me. As for the actors playing up to it a bit, I can understand that when it's a piece you are very proud of, and want to continue playing in the future. Keeping the fans happy creates interest, funding, and the project actually being made, after all. Plus raising awareness of some important issues that effect lives. Onto the program thing, I personally use Paint Tool Sai for most of my work (I just adore it's pen sensibility. no other program gets it so close to real pencils like sai for me), but I do recommend Krita as well! It's free and I often use it for animations or paintings and I find that the pen sensibility there is pretty much similar to Sai's!

Hi! Ok honestly I was going to find a more proper way to phrase this but can we just talk about Nagareboshi Kirari for a minute, and how it is 100% a love song from the perspective of Killua to Gon. I don’t see many people talking about it and it gets glossed over compared to some of the other endings but honestly it’s always been my favourite. The fact that nearly every single line is a direct reference to something Killua has been through with Gon is crazy, and with the “shooting star” references and implications, I don’t think it’s crazy to say that YUZU interpreted the manga the same way most of us shippers do, especially CAA. Idk, maybe I’m just crazy but this is something I’m almost 100% convinced of (like a lot of Killugon stuff in HxH I guess ha ha) but what are your thoughts?

I definitely agree with you! I've read before that Yuzu re-read the entire manga before writing the songs they did for HxH, and also that they're big fans of the series to begin with, so I think it's fair to say that they wrote the songs they did with intention. Also, multiple people have pointed out that Nagareboshi Kirari uses wedding bells in it, which I mean, enough said. As big fans of the series, it would make sense that they see the (pretty clear) implications with Killua's feelings and they would include that in a song made for the series.

@hunterxhell also shared another song that Yuzu wrote around the same time period that may have been used for HxH if things had gone differently (I agree with this conclusion, it's too coincidental otherwise with the lyrics), and some other songs that they may have written with HxH in mind.

Honestly, the 2011 production is riddled with staff who have made romantic implications between Gon and Killua--from the director saying they're like a mature married couple, to Mariya Ise saying outright and extremely clearly that she thinks Killua is in love with Gon, Niuya, one of the animators for HxH 2011 would post KilluGon fanart on Twitter while it was airing (and published a doujin with shippy drawings included), and so on. Not to mention things like the Huncyclopedia kiss, ai-ai gasa, the episode previews during Chimera Ant arc, and more. These are all additions that didn't need to happen, they just as easily could have not included them. But they did!

The people who worked on the anime certainly studied the manga carefully--it's simply a big part of the process of adapting a manga to an anime, and especially with how faithful 2011 is to the manga (*overall, with some exceptions :p). I don't think it's a coincidence at all that many people looking at this manga carefully came to this conclusion. It's the same conclusion I've come to as well after years of carefully studying it and reading about Togashi and his inspirations/interviews/etc. The subtext is strong and clear and all over the place once you start looking for it, and a good portion of it isn't even subtext but just...text.

Anyway, I got on a bit of a tangent, but YES, I definitely think it's intentional and I absolutely think Yuzu wrote it with Killua's feelings in mind!

I know that most of the drivers know about fanfiction being out there but the thought of them discovering ships still freaks me out so much.

A lot of people will say don't write RPF then but there is a big difference between just writing it for fandom and locking it on ao3 OR actively pushing it towards the people it's inspired by. The latter can easily be avoided and not avoiding it is the sole thing that can make RPF problematic.

This makes me so uncomfortable and angry at people who are not thinking about boundaries. Even if the author consents to their fanfiction being out there (but why would you?) you can't get the consent from the people it's about. If they discover it on ao3 then that means that they sought it out and that's okay but if they stumble upon it on twitter because it gets basically shoved into their faces? No.

It's not funny and if you're unlucky, they'll not only think it's weird, they might actually hate it and feel gross about people writing about them having kinky sex with y/n or their colleague.

In extreme cases, famous people discovering fanfiction about themselves altered how they behaved in public. In other extreme cases, they took legal actions, because they felt really ridiculed or uncomfortable.

Fanfiction is for fans. Leave it in strict fandom spaces. How often do people need to say that? You can't always avoid the drivers seeing it, but you can at least make sure that it's not jumping at them when they don't want it to jump at them, which will be the case for most if not all of them.

I don't want drivers to get linked to my tumblr without either my or their consent. It's overstepping a line.

there's a huge difference between Knowing About The Existence of Fanfics and being Actively Made Aware of Certain Fics. sure, they know about fanfics. sure, they know they're being shipped. but to have the shippy things/fanfics/fanart actively shown to you is a whole other thing.

'don't write RPF' is a very dumb thing to say. that is not the issue. the issue is that fandom is for the fans and Not for the people it's about. when i'll make the silly little 4433 discord server, that's for the shippers, the FANS. that is Not for max, lewis, or anyone who knows them personally. when we write fics, that's for the fans, Not for the guys in question!!

twitter is indeed too close. tumblr is The Perfect platform for it. i remember when the people from Watcher Entertainment announced they'd make a tumblr blog and sooo many fans were like Alarm Alarm Must Change My Main Blog So They'll Never Find Out!

100% agreed w the difference between 'stumbling upon ao3' and 'getting a tweet sent to you with your name'. also a PSA to all RPF authors: if twitter accs ever ask if they can rec your fic on twitter, be flattered and say no. that is not the place for us to be.

i don't think that the drivers will actively read what it's all about, i think they'll see a link and go oh No Nope I am Leaving. years of PR training must've also taught them what to stay away from. but this is the same w people in Max Fewtrell's chat telling him to go to ao3 & wattpad. i was fuming. you Do Not Do That. (sure i wrote a fic about it but that's beside the point).

yeah so i wouldn't worry too much about the extreme cases. this isn't septiplier. the most important difference being: these drivers barely handle their own social media anyway. they're incredibly well managed. this doesn't mean we can do whatever, but it does mean that the chances of something bad happening are smaller i'd reckon.

recently made this metaphor which may be a bit tough to convey in words but: the drivers, the sport, the factual things are like a planet, and fandom is the moon. the moon is for us fans to gather and circle around the planet and occasionally visit and say hi. but to never ever get the drivers with us to the moon. they don't belong there. if one driver gets to the moon, the moon will get closer to the planet and before we know it, the moon is clashing with the planet and nothing's left of either of the two anymore.

drivers knowing about the existence of fanfics as a term is fine. drivers knowing about certain fics is not. drivers knowing about your tumblr is not. fandom for the fans. not for them. don't make those two world collide.

Also, excuse the cringe name for PV in this AU, I had reasons for it when I first made it but I. Never wrote it down and I forgot, so...rn it's only bc it's cute)

Both are pretty protective of PV which is. Kinda funny, considering they're a literal god. They're both comforting shoulders for PV to lean and cry on, though in their own kind of way;

Petunia is very much "I would fucking kill a man for you" kind of gal, aggressively complimenting and measuring them and shooting down any self-deprecating thoughts they have.

Lummis is the more level-headed, will sit you down and give actual advice kind of guy. He's not big with words, most of the time, and gives them physical comfort and shows he cares and that they're worth more than what they think by just being there for them and holding them close when they're in a depression dump.

Petunia is like the "leader" of their little polycule, they don't take themself too seriously and have a knack for breaking the rules and having stupid plans, and unfortunately manages to rope PV into most of these and Lummis tags along so his idiots don't get themselves in trouble, or something worse.
