By transferring her consciousness into a new body, her life has been saved. The only problem? Her new body is merely ten inches tall. As she tries to continue building a life with her boyfriend, Ryan Northe, she struggles to grapple with the strange world developing around her. With each passing day, she questions whether the procedure really saved her life or plunged her into a fate worse than death. Regardless of her fears, both the Restoration Program and Ryan agree: what was lost has been restored. The first in a thrilling New Adult trilogy filled with suspense, romance, and the dawning of a new, strange world, The Restoration Program is perfect for fans of Black Mirror, Westworld, and romance books with an existential twist. when an obsessed orufrey person plays ace attorney for the first time in a while
#witch hat tag#orufrey#you know those times when the defendant is still in shambles at the end of a case because it was not a clear-cut thing#but you get to present one Special Sentimental piece of evidence that proves not all is lost#qifrey's breakdown would be like... he turns up calm and pleasant like dahlia kristoph gant etc but very quickly:#well first he's hiding his scar so you have to use the bracelet and also you find out about the seal on his hat using that.#eventually he is throwing water that comes out of nowhere like that coffee prosecutor guy. and his cape starts billowing#the more he breaks down his neck thingies start coming undone btw. To represent his descent into guilt and his LIES becoming undone.#course as the player i have already used my magatama and seen his 35894 psychelocks. but theyre those BLACK psychelocks#representing his repressed memories taken by the brimhats. also his glasses shatter out of nowhere when you keep presenting evidence#and tartah's testimony etc. and the player is like UHH this guy is A PUPPET MASTER but coco's heartfelt testimony commands the tone#and of course he's someone who has been twisted and damaged by trauma like adrian andrews. the mastermind is of course the brimhats#only me with my magatama knows that... only i can do it. It has to be me.....#just like how as the reader i can see everything about qifrey and i can hold him dear as much as i judge him#whereas if i were oru things would not be ok unless memories can be restored and mentally ill decisions can be illuminated#WELL ANYWAY !!!!! what i appreciate about ace attorney is its ability to mix silliness with seriousness#i cant usually make jokes about serious heavy heartbreaking stuff in witch hat because it is all very intense emotions for me#but i appreciate ace attorney's mix of sincerity and psychological pain and the inherent silliness to being a character in a situation#so.....Get Iguin on the stand. Now. BAILIFF.. TAKE OFF THE MASK#i would most love to be able to prove qifrey's eyesight is failing. hed be like I have no reason to pursue the brimhats (smiles pleasantly)#and it would be like You're lowering your gaze.. proof that the court lighting is too harsh for you..!#his glasses would crack at that moment btw. I used apollo's bracelet and saw the glyphs on the glass.#I know all about u. and i will save u

what is something you are glad you got to see in person? Be it a concert or the northern lights, something like that
I got to explore Notre-Dame Cathedral in 2015, as part of a trip my college roommate and I took through Europe. It was gorgeous, and standing in the stained light of windows that millions of people had looked through for hundreds of years was such an incredible experience.
Cathedrals are sometimes called "prayers in stone" because for many of the masons and craftsmen who worked on them -- who sometimes worked on them for their entire lives -- this might be the extent of their spiritual education and experience. They knew their saints because they carved their faces with their own hands, they left tiny marks of themselves hidden in the folds of angel robes and vines, they finished projects their fathers had begun. The sheer amount of human living that cathedrals represent is something you can almost touch when you're walking through them. If you brush your hand over a carved pillar or a carefully-masoned stone wall, you can touch it. The visceral connection to thousands of people over time, going back to that one, likely illiterate laborer who chiseled the stone into place... man. It's something I won't forget.
When it caught fire in 2019, I was glued to my computer for the whole day, and I'm not ashamed to say I cried a little. That so much art and history and legacy could just... vanish like that. I was and am so glad I got to see it before it was lost.

wicked game by chris isaak as a zukka song. discuss
#as THE zukka song even. ive been listening to this on loop this morning#it's also specifically very tams and taob zukka coded just bc it's got that jaded 'been through hell' vibe to it#'the world was on fire and no one could save me but you' hello... literally the war..... sokka pulling zuko out of it.... the gaang winning#'i never dreamed that id love somebody like you' GOES BOTH WAYS#also the chorus kinda reluctant to fall in love but it's happening anyway? VERY TAOB AND TAMS CODED#like i always said taob zukka's anthem was georgia particularly bc of 'if i fix you will you hate me'#and 'i dont want to fall in love with you (the world is only gonna break your heart)' gives similar vibes#and the tams angle is bc tams zuko's whole thing is that he wants NOTHING to do with the war#like he's had enough he's seen enough he's well and truly given up hope#he's lost his fight which is such a heartbreaking thing to consider for ZUKO of all people#and the gaang kind of. forcefully give him hope again and restore his faith in humanity and he's fighting it every step of the way#bc if he gets his fight back then it means he can't just be jaded and indifferent to the injustice he's seen and experienced#he has to deal with it head on and that's such a horrible scary thing and he just doesn't want to fight anymore#literally 'what a wicked game to play to make me feel this way what a wicked thing to do to let me dream of you'#in this essay i will-#twice as many stars#taob updates#<- very funny to me that i just use that tag as a taob dumping ground like it very rarely has anything to do with an update <3#zukka

"I don't know quite yet what he'll do," Dorian admitted with a small shrug. "I've told him that he has a place in our home and always will, but that he doesn't have to be a butler if he doesn't want to be. He's appreciated the offer, but he hasn't told me just what his plan is yet."
Still, he couldn't help but smile, resting his head against his hand as he commented, "I'm so glad he's coming with us. I...I want him to stay a part of my life, and I...I want him to be a part of the lives of any children Elizabeth and I have together. He is my family, and I want to treat him as such."
For once, Beau wouldn't have the task of essentially raising a child (as he largely had to do, given the absence of the Gracey parents, often leaving the child-rearing to the staff while they went about their day), wouldn't have to play the role of parent and pedagogue, but could instead be what he largely was to Dorian in his youth-a doting uncle. Out of all the staff at Gracey Manor, Beau was the one who cut his young charge the most slack, letting him out of his lessons a little earlier, willing to let him indulge in sweets and games when his parents weren't looking, as well as treating him not just as his charge and pupil, but as a young friend, who he fondly watched grow up. As such, Dorian quite liked the idea of Beau getting to do the same with his children, who too would no doubt look upon him fondly as "Uncle Beau"-only this time, they wouldn't be reprimanded for addressing him as such.
"And, of course, any children Lizzie and I have will have their grandmother as well," he grinned, adding, "I do believe Mrs. Henshaw is not only giddy at the idea of having a son-in-law, but also having a grandchild to spoil. Lizzie's told me she's a little apprehensive about moving, she's lived in Louisiana all her life, but...she's also excited about her family growing."
It had just been Mrs. Lena Henshaw and her daughter for a lot of years, ever since Mr. Henshaw's death in a farm accident on the Gracey property when Elizabeth was five. It was something else the elder Henshaw and Mrs. June Pace were able to bond over: Louisiana natives, looked down on as working widows, who still loved and missed their husbands, and did all they could to support their beloved children.

now some people may not like to hear it but even the worst people who exist are still people & there is no human being who has More right than others to decide whether others deserve to live or die (does not mean i personally condemn murder in self defense or anything of the sort or killing fascists or whatever i'm just saying as a baseline This Is How it Is) & this is why the death penalty is not a good thing no matter how good & trustworthy the people in any government might be. people on average also deserve the chance to learn to do better. & no, someone who's been forcefed propaganda their entire life will not let go of that deeply entrenched mindset so easily, it's not particularly unrealistic & it absolutely sucks to deal with but in the context of tangibly working toward world peace it's also not an issue to try & help such people both in material ways & in helping them learn better rather than cut them down or abandon them to a grim fate. all this to say that's why i don't think garlemald is written badly, as unpleasant as the experience might be. walks off the stage
#ffposting#also if you hate garlemald's writing THIS much but like emet-selch i think theres a disconnect there i just dont understand.#like he made it that way. you do understand this is all because of him right. maybe you should be more upset about that.#garlemald is very uncomfortable & the real life parallels it draws make it a very very touchy Thing to deal with#but i do not think it is handled badly.#their supremacy is entirely gone by the time of edw the people there have known nothing but propaganda#the populares are known to be a minority. people like cid or jenomis aren't that common. this is why they get along#the propaganda is such that even occupied domans like asahi fell for it & feel absolutely nothing for their kin#thats what propaganda does. there is absolutely a degree of responsibility regarding what they do & i would never say otherwise#however the idea that we should let them die & not get a chance to rebuild after theyve lost everything (again) is like. huh.#when you want to work toward world peace in a meaningful way you cant just abandon anyone like that.#like thats a whole people. they suck! but it is not immutable & they deserve the opportunity to do better like any other#id much rather they face retribution for their actions in meaningful ways including working toward reparations#wrt all the peoples the empire occupied than to round them up to kill them or worse let them die to the telophoroi#OR to becoming blasphemies. that would make things so extremely worse.#i just dont understand how you can have sympathy for jullus when he was just like everyone else at first#but you want to leave the rest of them to die. & i dont get how you can like emet & want them to die.#like he fucking did this its a pretty notable very fucking bad thing that he did. no doubt varis has made it worse#but varis was in power for like 2 years at best.#that emet was playing a role & did not actually believe in or care about what he was doing does not erase that he did it#& i personally find it hypocritical to like him if you balk at the idea of garlemald restoration. clears throat#i believe in killing fascists but i also dont believe in punitive justice#& by the time of edw garlean civilians do not hold the systemic power they once mightve#which i think is also important. their entire country is in shambles.#if anything its the ideal opportunity for them all to start anew & learn better. shed their preconceptions as one might say#that said i still skip garlemald cutscenes bc i dont need cunts calling me a savage ✋-_-#do not take any of this for garlean apologia i fucking hate dealing with them on an individual level as a xaela player lmfao#also as a jew. notably as a jew. the similarities w both nazi germany & israel have not escaped my notice believe me.#but yeah. if you can feel pity for livia who is a military general WHO HAS ACTIVELY KILLED YOUR FRIENDS#but not for the civilians whove never been exposed to anything other than propaganda. idk man. 30 tags. fly free my post

Finished reading the Restoration Program.
I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Details and spoilers under the readmore
The detail work on the unhealthy dynamics of the relationship are all the way in the beginning of the story if you notice it. Such as Nicole thinking that her husband wasn't talking to his parents but he is.
The changing dynamic from loving husband to possessive abuser in a step by step, day by day. So you can see it in real time.
Many little things leading up to the big reveal that indicates that Ryan is lying. How Ryan treated his coworker. How he already knew how to do shibari with a nuprint, how he'll leave her alone but also know what she is saying, etc.
All the little hints and clues that triggered my own memories of my abusive ex. It's the little things such as "don't tell anyone else." Or the look like he owned her when she went to live with her friend for a while.
Then towards the end when she's cut off from other nuprints and how the scientist disappeared, along with other vanishing nuprints which indicates that the nuprints are losing progress, not gaining it, in human rights ans they're either running away, or being taken away.
Again being cut off is something I'm familiar with.
Nicole catching Ryan cheating on her.
Ryan killing Nicole and how the police don't care.
(Did Ryan get any consequences for hurting Nicole's friend? I am unclear but if he did it clearly did not stick)
The ending was absolutely a torment nexus ending. Nicole being created again and again constantly in the possession of her abusive husband Ryan. With a vague sense of deja vu and how staff of both Ryan's law agency and the Restoration Program are placing bets on whether or not this print of Nicole will accept Ryan's affections and how long she'll last.
Apparently the other prints of Nicole have been committing suicide rather than accept how Ryan is treating them, or Ryan kills them himself. Accidental or not, he's still killing them.
Then the hint of the trinkets in prisoners and how the Restoration Program is getting funding by playing on people's grief, love, and obsession to get them to fund the Restoration Program.
Odds are Ryan is like a white whale to them, wealthy, fanatical, constantly killing the prints so he needs more, and willing to bribe, borrow, steal, and blackmail to get the funding.
So overall great book, very descriptive and well written.
That being said I did have to put it down a lot because Ryan's treatment of Nicole triggered my anxiety more than a few times so it's a very realistic description of an abusive relationship.
My congratulations to both of the authors. I'll be looking forward to the other books.

Brennan’s statement on Palestine :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
[ ID: Statement from Brennan Lee Mulligan, on Instagram. It consists of three black squares with plain white text. The text reads as follows:
"I'm calling on my government officials to immediately demand a ceasefire and de-escalation in Gaza.
I applaud anyone and everyone calling for peace, with the understanding that real peace only exists if it deeply and honestly accounts for and fully ends violence in all its forms. Real peace addresses and corrects wrong-doing in the past and guards against it in the future. It goes hand in hand with justice and requires truth, restoration, reconciliation, reparation.
Peace cannot co-exist with collective punishment, ethnic cleansing and forced displacement. It cannot co-exist with blockades, embargoes, or with 2.2 million people, half of which are children, trapped with no hope of escape or political recourse. it cannot co-exist with murdered journalists, bombed hospitals, or years of protesters being shot and killed at the border. it cannot co-exist with illegal settlements, segregated roads, and the silent, imperial chill that settles over the gaps in the violence - the unspoken geopolitical consensus that a group of people need to unflinchingly accept permanent subjugation and occupation.
My hear breaks for every Israeli person who lost loved ones during the attacks of October 7th. It breaks for every Ukrainian person who has lost their loved ones. It breaks for every Congolese person who has lost their loved ones. I do not speak on behalf of Palestinians now because some lives are worth more than others. I speak on their behalf because I, and all Americans, have a responsibility to pressure our government because we are responsible for this. Some have said that this situation is complicated. The Unites States government clearly disagrees. It has definitively, categorically, militarily chosen a side, and I do not agree with that decision.
In wiring this, I have been wrestling with what I am sure many people like me wrestle with: There is a powerful narrative surrounding violence in the Middle East that asserts and ever-moving goalpost of self-education and study in order to even be qualified to have an opinion. As someone with a love of research, I have at times in my life fallen into the trap that I am not educated enough clever enough, or aware enough to have a worthwhile perspective, and that three more articles and two more lectures and one more book will do the trick. Unfortunately, democracy doesn't work that way - we, the citizens of any democracy, cannot possibly be experts on every aspect of the policies of our governments, and yet if we do not constantly weigh in an make our voices heard, the entire experiment falls apart. Not only do people constantly doubt themselves and the things they can see with their own two eyes, but old shortcuts for political action can fall apart as well: This specific issue exists along a raw, charged and unique faultline in American Politics. Nobody I grew up with has ever challenged me on my support for abortion rights, LGBT rights, Black Lives Matter, anti-capitalism, anti-fascism, none of it. The people in my country who would despise me for those positions are, for all intents and purposes, strangers to me. But there are people who I've broken bread with and shared honest affection with who will see the words I've written here and incorrectly conclude that I do not wish for the security, dignity and happiness of them and their loved ones, and that breaks my fucking heart. Full-throatedly condemning the actions of the Israeli government while battling rampant anti-semitism at home is an urgent moral necessity, and doing so is made unnecessarily challenging for the average person to navigate by the pointed obfuscations of cynical opportunists, bigots, and demagogues on all sides of the political spectrum who see some advantage in sowing that incredibly dangerous confusion.
So, I'm calling my representatives. I'm having hard conversations with friends and family. I'm here, talking to you. I should have done it sooner. If you're Israeli and hurt by this statement, know that I want freedom, dignity, security and peace for you, and that every ounce of my political awareness believes whole-heartedly that the actions of your government are not only destroying innocent lives, but doing so to the detriment of you and your loved ones' safety. If you're American and feel lost and confused - I understand and empathize. This, the whole country, only works when we get involved. I am constantly haunted by the specter that maybe I missed some crucial piece of information on this, or any, important world event. I'll just have to make my peace with that self-doubt and trust my gut by going with Jewish Voice for Peace, Amnesty International, the Geneva Conventions, the United Nations, etc. And if you're Palestinian and reading this: I unreservedly support your right to life, to freedom, to happiness and human flourishing, to full enfranchisement and equal rights, to opportunity, prosperity and abundance, to the restoration of stolen property and land, and to a Free Palestine." End ID ]

Okay I just gotta say, before I log off, I've been thinking about the fact that these "lost journal 3" pages exist in TBOB, and that Bill says they were ripped out by Ford. So we know that post-Weirdmageddon, Journal 3 was fully restored, including pages Ford ripped or burned out in the 80s (as well as any deterioration that happened since then), but the pages in TBOB still weren't in there.
What that means is that, post-Weirdmageddon, Ford must has ripped these pages out.
So I can imagine Dipper, super excited, running to Ford like "Grunkle Ford! Look! Your Journals! And they have so many new pages I've never seen before!" and then Ford going "haha that's so cool - WAIT," and then just grabbing the book and ripping out a bunch of pages, some with the embarrassing Polaroids, some with the darkest and scariest parts of his trauma, the way he fell for Bill and his lies, some of his personal memories with Fiddleford, etc. and then just handing it back to Dipper.
Dipper, pointing at the pages in the fireplace: uuuuh what were those
Ford:...... nothing.
It would explain why we, the readers, don't have access to those pages after he throws them in the Bottomless Pit at the end of J3.

🇵🇸 Help Marah's family restore their lives!
I want to introduce you to the Baloushaa family, who are currently living in Gaza. The family lived in a beautiful house, and Mahmoud owned a shoe store that was doing well. Marah (@freepaleatine95) was studying computer engineering at Al-Azhar University, a subject she has a lot of interest and passion in. Mahmoud's business was successful and Marah's studies were going excellently. Their parents were proud of them for all they accomplished, and they had great dreams for their futures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But even before the recent aggression starting on October 7th, this family had experienced profound loss. They lost their older brother in 2006, a stark reminder that the violence inflicted on Palestinians did not start within the past year, but has been a continued effort to wipe out their people. With the most recent escalation in violence, this family has been forced to experience loss again. They lost the beautiful house they lived in, and they lost the kittens that they cared for dearly. Mahmoud's business was destroyed as well as Marah's University and their lives have been frozen.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The picture above is their current living situation, they are trying to survive without proper shelter, exposed to the weather and illnesses. Their mother and father both suffer from diabetes, and their father has high blood pressure, the medicine for which is near impossible to obtain in Gaza. As winter approaches and the temperature drops, they will need proper clothing, blankets, and a heater. Their ultimate goal is to move the family to Egypt so they can access proper care for their parents, Marah can continue university, and they can rebuild their lives.
