I've already answered this so I'll just answer something else instead: what do I think about Dukesaw, Mcnamawyer and Chansaw?

Chansaw is a living embodiment of (not exactly since they're conditional friends) enemies to lovers. Their relationship with each other especially in the movie is compelling for me. I didn't ship it initially at first before watching the movie and feeling like there's some sort of tension hidden between them. This ship doesn't just have a classic dynamic but it leads to a lot of possibilities. By that, I mean a lot of Chansaw fics love exploring the possibility of Veronica and Chandler being queer for each other while also exploring the possibility that Chandler might not be as a bitch she is in both the movie and the musical. Chansaw is literally made just right for fans to make fanfics of like other ships such as Korrasami and Supercorp.

Dukesaw had me on board with it the moment I saw how Veronica was with her compared to the other Heathers. The things she was doing for the girl dressed in green. I got thrown off halfway through the end of the movie because of Duke's character and that bathroom scene Veronica has with Mac but I went back straight to it at the end where Veronica took the red scrunchie from Duke, wore it before kissing her on the cheek (leaving a mark, mind you!) and telling her “Heather, my love. There's a new sheriff in town.” - if that doesn't speak anything in volume about them then I don't know what I'm doing with my life.

Mcnamawyer had me with it through the way Mac clung to Veronica at certain times in the movie. No, I'm not just talking about the way she was locking arms with Veronica but the way she was with Veronica. To me, she was like glued (I'm probably delusional about this) to the brunnette in the movie. Like a puppy being afraid to be left alone by their owner. That bathroom scene they had rocked and it crushed me a bit at the same time because Mac was being really vulnerable with Veronica at that moment.

yet somehow, there is such shame to it.

maybe it's just me, but "desire" is such a loaded word. i think that's why i find it so difficult to deal with. to want something so earnestly, from so deep within one's heart… how is that not simply THE most mortifying thing on the planet?

it's kind of funny. xiaoven— though most particularly xiao— must come to terms with their selfish desires that are not going to go away n be vulnerable w/each other abt their ugliest selves in order to be accepted n truly loved, at which point shame loses its incredible power over them, and they can be together forever in love for realsies.

because it's easy to imagine a xiao, who, out of love and devotion towards venti, his savior and the god of freedom, might feel like he can only express the sheer depth of his emotions by tugging down the stiff collar of his shirt to bare his own neck for execution.

(that is how one feels towards a god, is it not? this sort of vulnerability, a willingness to die for them, born from a desire to be good.)

and i use the imagery of undressing and invoke the sense of waiting for someone else's actions upon you intentionally here. it ties xiao's sense of intimacy up with power over his life, and as a being who struggles to separate his very sense of self from violence itself, i think it would make sense that death and intimacy are linked to him.

i think a big reason why he's so reluctant to give up his duty to someday die quelling demons for the peace and prosperity of liyue is because he's afraid that wanting something, anything might break the centuries of rigid discipline that's kept him alive after all this time. to love something, to want something, is to then die for it.

and like. i think it's pretty obvious that venti would not want to hold that power over xiao, if xiao tried to express his love by essentially giving over his entire life into venti's hands. it's so lacking in boundaries on xiao's end that even if that's what xiao himself wants, it would ultimately be the most horrifying (yet still earnest!!!) show of devotion to venti.

and so. it's probably fairly obvious from all this that this push-n-pull of desires is part of what makes xiao n venti's relationship so compelling to me personally. they're arguing abt things that are so deeply a part of them: xiao's self-destructive obedience vs. venti's bleeding heart and ideal of freedom. it's kind of... dare i say... yaoi.

obviously, in the context of fandom, there is a difference btwn xiaoven and venxiao. like, technically it's about top and bottom discourse, but outside of nsfw contexts, it's more about power dynamics, about who follows and who leads in a relationship.

i tend not to care too much, since i get weirded out if it feels too… overt? controlling? one-sided? n it starts feeling like the characters are just becoming bastardized "Any Two Guys."

but, like, as may be obvious by the common ship name being xiaoven, fandoms typically have a preference. it makes sense— xiao is v physically strong, n he has this very curt, no-nonsense, straightforward way of doing things, while venti is usually mistaken for a girl by people new to genshin. in concept, it could be fun to see xiao lead a more uncertain venti around n be the more decisive, aggressive pursuer of the relationship.

HOWEVER. relationships are based in feelings n are therefore much more human things. that is definitely not smth xiao is familiar with or experienced in at all. that is venti's area of expertise.

n xiao is a character i like to characterize by his devotion n his obedience. he's not the type to come up w/a procedure for acting in situations where he is totally unfamiliar w/what's happening bc his procedure will probably be aggressive "hit it 'till it dies." in situations involving others, he can't do that, so he's left pretty helpless in situations all about ~feelings~ and stuff.

now, venti is the more human one, in the sense that he has a much greater understanding of how we chase our whims on the breeze. he knows how to navigate these kinds of emotional, dare i say intimate, situations— which is why xiao would look to him for guidance in navigating these things. he wants to be told what to do bc he is a weapon, a violent tool w/no agency of his own (or at least as he likes to think).

xiao's repression is very internalized. he knows he is someday doomed, so why bother letting himself want anything. (why dare to hope when he doesn't believe himself worthy of venti's love in return?)

despite the horrifying levels of devotion i believe xiao to be capable of, i also firmly believe that he can later learn to rein in the self-destructive aspects of it w/o diminishing the value of those feelings. there's something oh-so lovely about self-love taught through loving others and others loving you, about watching something self-destructive and dangerous fall victim in love to something that can withstand its horrors and love it anyway, love it enough to make destroying itself no longer feel worth it.

after all, one of the most romantic answers one could give to the old, "i would die for you" absolutely has to be, "we are going to make it out of this together."

and in my opinion, that's pretty venxiao.

Ok so apparently MJ was drafted a few years before Scottie was?? I think that sort of explains the dynamic of like Michael being the top dog and Scottie kind of being put into the sidekick role. Would assume they got along just fine in those formative years. Like they had respect for each other while on that ascension to greatness. It is interesting to see how Scottie has shifted his public opinion about Michael over the years, from admiration to publicly calling him a bad teammate. Idk what went on there, probably ego; it’s been said Michael is not one to apologize so maybe Scottie’s stubborn ass wants him to do so, in some kind of twisted sense. Men and their refusal to ever accept being wrong, or whatever.

The Last Dance probably caused a lot of stuff to open up and there was no turning back from there. The two year gap where Scottie was leading the bulls while Michael was having a mid life crisis probably would make for an interesting time to explore, wherein they realize they kind of need each other to succeed so after that period of tension they get back together for… you guessed it… a last dance (well, a couple championships before that). It probably sort of made Scottie a little resentful bc of the narrative that he couldn’t succeed without Michael even tho the Bulls were like fine with him as the main guy. But like he needs him! So they’re gonna win and Scottie will bury that part of himself and it’ll intermingle with his other more complicated feelings about wanting Michael in other ways. Even tho Michael Jordan is very much insane and Scottie isn’t even really sure if they are in “love,” at least in the conventional way.

I feel like a part of Scottie probably knows there is no getting to Michael at this point (men buying sports teams instead of getting therapy) but he still wants to out of some sense of pettiness. Like will they ever have that reconciliation arc idk (unless something drastic happens). However the narrative is still compelling to me bc those two are forever bounded together by their accomplishments together. Don’t think I have any unpopular opinions abt this ship I’m still sort of trying to figure out how exactly to characterize Michael 🤔 like he’s intense but probably not a sociopath in his interpersonal relationships (I think).

What made you ship it? well you see. sometimes I see a girl blushing and complimenting another girl and I simply think they should kiss (also I went in knowing that they were endgame so. I was primed to read into their interactions)

What are your favorite things about the ship? I like how often they're both like "so we're both in love with mika and also each other" and how they make it clear that they are all in love with each other and want to support and help each other. also I love the stuff (especially in season 1) that was like. kudelia being able to put words to things that she didn't necessarily have firsthand experience with but atra does like. theory gf x praxis gf. kudelia understands the relationship between imperialism and capitalism and atra understands that the first step to getting anything done is to feed people when they are hungry. also their ending is that one poem abt like. the long distance relationship between a city lesbian and a country lesbian (want by joan larkin) and I love that for them. I wish season 2/the fanfiction on ao3 had more abt them leading a revolution together bc I do think both of their perspectives are so important and I want to see them talking abt rhetorical strategies and supply lines while also kissing and making each other soup

What made you ship it? well the vibes were there from the start, even when I was just like "who are these evil bureaucrats" so I always thought they were hooking up. and then we got to the bit where gaelio gets choked out by mika and mcgillis like. strokes his back comfortingly?? and I was like. ah. I see. they are Dating.

What are your favorite things about the ship? I love betrayal <3 I love it when a guy's grand plan involves killing the one person he cares abt and both of them are super normal abt it <3 also I love that gaelio isn't dead and wants revenge and also that ein is involved bc I love mess <3 (edit: I wrote before we finished the show and looking back on this. oof. rip to past me for trying to maintain some sense of detachment and just having fun at the tragic mess. current me is genuinely sad like. I do love the betrayal and that's def in the top 5 things I like abt this ship but the top spot might have to go to that final confrontation they have and specifically the bit where gaelio won't let mcgillis say that he loves him because otherwise gaelio will forgive him because he is still So in love with him and would have done anything for him if mcgillis wasn't um. specifically designed to be a foil for characters whose whole thing is solidarity and reaching out to others, so the point of his character is that he was marginalized and abused in ways that specifically isolated him so that he can't bring himself to trust anyone else and that's his downfall. communism could have saved him and also his relationship with gaelio (somehow. despite gaelio being fundamentally a spoiled rich kid. it's fine they would've worked it out. anyway)

She tells you how so many people have fallen for the traveller and it kinda drives her mental. I'm kinda sick of mihoyo catering to the traveller harem agenda. Because side relationships have so much potential. Mihoyo has such a habit of erasing playable characters from other characters stories. Such as venti in xiaos. They keep detouring and making it all about traveller. It's just a bit of an ick to me, especially considering I'm somebody who believes that they are Canon in the sense that they know eachother, and they r just dancing around right now figuring things out.

I'm really hoping their meeting does them justice. And mihoyo doesn't yet again make it all about traveller. Like the scene xiao dances In the field of flowers could super easily be made all about aether and xiao with venti on the side.

FR so tired of characters getting erased from each other's stories and suddenly the traveler is the most important person to them like stop!!! this is some stranger that 90% of them have only met a few times for Not Very Long! how the hell can they suddenly be more important than their literal savior, their most trusted right hand they've been working with for years, their family, or the estranged friends trying their hardest to help the person they love? this isnt even just about xiao, it's about literally everyone the traveler comes across--kokomi? ayaka? ei? these characters who should be strong individuals with trusted friends and family who are leading rebellions and an entire nation respectively? suddenly they're all over the traveler and the traveler is the most important person and makes them feel so much better yada yada i got so tired during kokomi's quest bc like..........why. i get that traveler is the person she doesn't have to be the Rebellion Leader in front of bc they dont rely on her but like....that could've easily been a more compelling storyline if she was able to learn to let her walls down around someone like gorou or smthn and he was able to see her as more than just their unflappable leader. not even as a ship, just as two people relying on each other during hardship

anyway! here's what i was thinking of for the college au. (disclaimer: i may be projecting on suga a little here but don't worry about it)

getting together:

it's a major slowburn. because slowburn friends to lovers is like... my favorite trope. i like to suffer.

i’m not entirely sure who falls first but suga is the first one to actually realize that he has feelings for iwaizumi. it's towards the end of their first year and he fully intends to do something about it but then iwaizumi starts talking about how he's planning on studying abroad in the states his second year and he decides to wait. he tells daichi this and daichi thinks him waiting is a stupid idea and he should just go for it now but suga is like "as if i'm taking romance advice from you, daichi" and leaves it at that. he also confides in asahi but asahi doesn't try to give him advice, he just gives him that look that tells him he also disapproves with him wanting to wait. 

and then suga decides against doing anything entirely because on one of their video calls, iwaizumi talks about his meeting with utsui and his plans to intern under him after he graduates. and suga kinda assumes that means iwaizumi is planning on moving to california after he graduates... even though that's not what iwaizumi said. but honestly it's just suga looking for an excuse to chicken out because he is kind of insecure so he thinks iwaizumi is out of his league anyways. 

on iwaizumi's end, it just takes him a while to actually realize that he has feelings for suga. i dare say it may have even been him who fell first, he just didn't realize it. i don’t really know what leads him to realize (i’m thinking maybe he gets jealous of someone suga is seeing and kuroo points it out but idk) but it would probably be when he first comes back from his year abroad. when he does, he immediately confesses because i kinda feel like iwaizumi would just... go for it, you know? 

once they get together? they’re the sappiest couple ever. i feel like iwaizumi is definitely the type to be like... surprisingly clingy and affectionate with his significant other and he does not care what anyone else thinks about it (which is funny bc when other couples do it, he’s like ‘this is disgusting’). 

what they love about each other: (sappiness incoming)

for both of them, they love just how much the other person cares so much about the people in their lives. iwaizumi and suga are both incredibly caring and protective people and they would definitely recognize those same traits in other people. 

suga loves iwaizumi’s goofy side, he likes when iwaizumi geeks out over his monster movies. it’s very endearing to him. he likes that iwaizumi is kind of a momma’s boy (my own personal hc). most of all, he just loves the soft affectionate side of him that only suga seems to be able to bring out. 

as much as he acts otherwise, iwaizumi loves suga’s mischievousness, the face he makes when he’s up to something is both the scariest and cutest thing iwaizumi has ever seen. he loves how quickly he can get suga (who is usually very shameless) to blush just by calling him a pet name or being extra sappy. he also loves being able to see a different side of suga that no one else does.

i think astrid isnt Good with kids. theres been no evidence before that she is, in fact she’s shown at being terrible at dealing with kids (Gustav) so like why would anyone think she just magically would? astrid is capable of compassion and empathy, but she struggles with it & she struggles with understanding how to appropriately moderate herself for people around her (you see it all the time with hiccup - she’s always hitting him too hard, or pushing. (1/2) i really feel you about how simm is interesting to analyze in a way I don’t think the fandom does… I personally think it's super interesting to look at how self-destructive simm!master is compared to a lot of the masters that came before/after him. how 10 says that destroying himself is the one thing he won't do but compared to other masters he seems a lot more... lax i guess about taking damage to his body? way more willing to pull an absolutely wild stunt at personal cost? (I also don’t

(2/2) think every version of the master would’ve killed missy, even if they were equally disgusted at what they’d become). there's definitely something in here abt him being the first real post time war master imo (idk if this comes up in the war master audios I’m a little nervous to listen to them) but i think fandom has overall been a lot more inserted in tensimm which like, no shade I’ve just never been huge into shipping overall so I don’t find that nearly as interesting

Yeah! I mostly tend to talk about Simm from an out of universe perspective, in terms of how I feel about the character choices RTD made (I still need to dig out that long essay I wrote on the subject), but if I analyse him purely from an in universe pov I think he’s actually pretty interesting. The things I find compelling aren’t really what I see the fandom talking about though. And this is not a criticism of the fandom - I think it’s just a case of different priorities. (Though, as someone who also isn’t very into shipping - it’s just not my preferred way to engage with fandom, despite me being very into exploring complex relationships - I do find it frustrating how much of the Master’s character is filtered through a shippy lens by fans. I feel like this often ignores deeper, more interesting examinations of who they are and why they behave the way they do.)

Anyway, what I like about Simm is that he’s a great example of where the Master’s choices will inevitably lead. He’s all the Masters flaws taken to their logical conclusion (just as Ten as the Time Lord Victorious is all of the Doctor’s flaws taken to their conclusion). He’s the most cruel and arrogant, probably the most self-destructive (but not in a deliberately suicidal sense like Dhawan), and the most obsessed with maintaining control of his identity and the rigid idea he has of who he should be, even when it’s to his own detriment. He purposefully destroys any potential connections he makes with other people (converting and taunting Bill, beating Lucy, constantly trying to harm the Doctor and refusing to accept any of the olive branches he is offered, killing Missy, etc.). And I think it shows the bankruptcy of the Master’s path, because even though Simm actually gets to enjoy more victories than the Master usually does, I don’t think he’s ever ultimately happy. He still loses everything again and again, he’s bitter and angry and alone, and his pride refuses to let him ever change. That’s part of why I think Missy is a natural progression from Simm, because she looks at where her choices have led and can finally consider, “Is this really who I want to be? Is this kind of life helping me or just hurting me?”

idk, there’s more I could say, but I still need to rewatch S10 to analyse him properly. I think you’re probably right about the fact that Simm is directly post-Time War and post-fobwatched Jacobi playing a big role in shaping him. After all the horrors of the war and then decades of hiding and losing his very identity to keep himself safe, it makes sense that he would come out of it being the most extreme version of himself, and being more willing to throw himself in harm’s way to get what he wants and maintain his sense of identity. There’s lots to talk about there, imo, and I would love to see the fandom engage with his character more.

Also sidenote there's this theme park nearby (ish) called Thorpe Park and I went there on school trips a couple of times and there's a ride there called Rumba Rapids and the music they play in the queue is really not relevant but its fun and when I was 16 I suggested to my friends how much funnier films would be if it was playing during sad scenes so one time we watched STID and when we got to this scene we turned the volume down low and the rumba rapids music up high. Not relevant to this post, but I just Unlocked that memory while I was thinking about this and I wanted to share.

Just gonna preface this by saying that Spock's death in WoK is obviously a lot more compelling than Kirk's in STID because in AOS JJ Abrams has this obsession with making Kirk the big hero who's so amazing and brilliant and is carrying the entire world on his shoulders so of Course he would give up his life to save the ship (and when you think of the parallels w his father doing the same it becomes even more about him trying to live up to his father's reputation and idk! I feel like it cheapens the sentiment!). Meanwhile the original films they'd moved past TOS's kirk-centric vibe and it was about the crew working together bc they're a family and it's about Spock! Who'd run away to try and escape all these feelings that had come from the enterprise! And it's like yes he can explain his decision with the 'needs of the many' logic but at the end of the day he is doing this to save the people he loves and EVERYONE knows it.

One thing I will say in STID's favour is that the lead-up to this scene with the repetition of the "Better get down here. Better hurry." line from WoK is excellent mostly because Quinto is a much better actor than Shatner and you can see how INSTANTLY he understands it's to do w Kirk as opposed to Shatner looking over at Spock's empty chair and being like huh. Wots all this then. Also I like the way Quinto Spock runs I think it's funny :)

The next part when Scotty's like blah blah decontamination whatever after Spock asks him to open the door like sure okay I can get behind Spock being so overwhelmed that his common sense flies out the window but what I DON’T like is that it's only them down there. Where is the Drama of the entire engineering department watching Kirk have a meltdown over his best friend dying? Where's Kirk needing to be held back by three people because he's so desperate to get to Spock? Where's Scotty saying 'he's dead already' and the life just DRAINING out of Kirk? In STID it's just like "open the door." "can't do that." "yeah okay whatever."

NEXT BIT: Their dying conversation. In WoK Kirk and Spock have known each other most of their lives. They don't need to say much bc they just Understand each otherand you see that! When Kirk is finishing Spock's sentence and when Spock says "I have been and always shall be your friend" which seems a lot more meaningful than STID Kirk and Spock going "I want you to know why I went back for you" "Because you are my friend" and yeah it still HURTS but it's like. They don't have the history they don't have that enduring kinda love they just have a couple of years of being vaguely passive aggressive towards each other and it's still nice for Spock to realise like oh this is friends! This is a friendship! But Kirk's death just doesn't seem as tragic!!!

That being said. There ARE some raw lines there like "I'm scared Spock. Help me not to be. How do you choose not to feel?" "I do not know. Right now I am failing." Like that's IT that's the GOOD SHIT it's been nearly 8 years and I still think about it all the time. And again I can't say much for Chris Pine but Zachary Quinto's acting is MILES ahead of Shatner's and the crying! Spock crying! It's So Much!!!!!!!! And I like the music. I like the long shot of their hands meeting between the glass. It's very cinematic which while missing the campiness of WoK has it's own charm.

I like in WoK when Spock dies and Kirk slumps like he's lost every last bit of energy he had, like he's dying too, however I ALSO very much like in STID when Spock just fucking. Screams. And then goes and runs on a train and beats up Benedict Cumberbatch. I feel like it's fitting that Kirk dying kinda untethers him and lets him just absolutely lose his shit. I love seeing men beat each other up.

Sorry I guess it just turns out I have Thoughts and this is probably barely skimming the surface but it's 9am on a Thursday and I have class in an hour but I've been sitting here rewatching the scenes and typing out this rant. What i liked and disliked abt the latest discovery ep:

Positive stuff first:

- loved michael making a bold choice. "Rather regret something i did than something I didn't"--yesss. Not to bring up lorca but it reminded me of "the kind of thinking that wins wars". I love her unwavering focus on finding out the truth and i love that she's not hesitating to prioritise what she thinks is right, while fully aware of the consequences. Forging her own path indeed!!

- im finally 100% sold on michael/book. Like i was into the idea of them but i hadnt had Feels TM for them before, mostly bc i cant let ashburn go, sigh. But this ep absolutely gave me the feels~~~ That look on book's face when he sees michael?? That alone had me sold, but then their scene when they snuck away to hug and talk and make an escape plan just. Wow. Their chemistry is through the roof, and even tho we didnt get to see it, the history between them is evident in the dialogue and the actors' portrayal--and very compelling. And then the kiss w the interruption and then book just pulling michael in??? dreamy as hell.

- tyler mention 😭 thank u for that philippa. And michael repeating his name and getting cranky at philippa for bringing him up 😢 its not much but at least it happened.

- all of Michael and philippa stuff was golden of course although im tired of michael supporting everyone. Would like to see the reverse happen once in a fucking while

Which brings me to what i hated:

- it's s3 and michael is still not captain, and on top of it she got reprimaded and demoted??? Fuck that. Like i think (i hope) that it's eventually going to lead up to michael discovering the truth abt the burn and thus being proven right, but im still mad.

- ajdjjfjfjf cant believe tilly just snitched on michael and told saru to go snitch on her to vance!!!!! I fully expected tilly to cover for her and be caught in her lies by saru but nope! And yes i understand her motivations but full disclosure like i never cared too much for tilly beyond her friendship w michael (and i never shipped them) and now I'm just like...tilly is fucking cancelled!!

- this isnt smth that i hated per se, but i continue to be bored by adira. For one i think it was a rly, to put it mildly, weird decision to introduce a trans character of colour only to immediately kill him off and have him be subsumed by a white character. And yeah ian alexander is technically still there playing his character but nobody can see him or interact w him, and it's adira who gets to be involved in the plot. And two, like i said im just v whatever abt adira so far.

2. sakura & faye - i feel bad cause sakura could try and initiate a conversation with faye to be polite but faye would immediately brush her off because she just Is Like That and pushes people away all the time. but i think faye seeing sakura try really hard to protect others would make faye change her mind and go up to apologize to her and legitimately try to be friendly!! whether this leads to friendship or something more, i think it would be healthy for faye and she will fight anybody who’s mean to sakura!!!

3. rosamaria & hríd - LOL I’M GLAD TO KNOW AGAINST ALL ODDS WE BOTH ROLLED THIS ONE. anyway hríd… is so fuckigng  dumb,,, when it comes to romance even if he grabs people’s hands and deadass says shit like “you’re so warm…” rosa calling out to him being attractive would just have him being awkward?? all his braincells went to war and he is extremely not self-aware abt the fact that a lot of people seem to find him hot ggkhgkg. i won’t spoil book ii for you BUT PLEASE DO TALK TO ME WHENEVER… i think, as a starting point, hríd would definitely help her out with any reconaissance missions and is Very Very bluntly honest about his opinions, avoiding having his own biases sway his opinions, so he might be useful to her as an aide!

4. lissa & deimne - SO… DEIMNE AVOIDS ROYALTY LIKE THE PLAGUE GKGRKHGR he thinks himself beneath interacting casually with them so if lissa gets suspicious of him avoiding her and tries to corner him, he’d have a heart attack LMAO. i think no matter what though, he’d feel like he can’t abandon her in battle since his own lil sis is a healer as well, and so he feels compelled to help her the same way he would his sis. he sucks at talking to girls so all of his compassion to her would be through actions alone BUT the fact lissa is a very direct girl might coax him to bicker with her so!! i can definitely imagine she can get past his walls!

5. sakura & iuchar - i have this feeling sakura would just be. lost with iuchar and his flirty tendencies good god. idk if they’d be able to move past his superficial tirades on complimenting girls in extremely poetic ways regardless of if he’s in love with them or not so RIP. but!! i wonder if these two could be sewing buddies?? I thought that he seemed pretty cool and was interested in ~the narrative~ so I decided to follow the Bengals, who do have a history that is vaguely compelling to me. It definitely has been enjoyable, even during that really rough first year (still have flashbacks to Week One of the 2020 season 😔). Josh seems endearing, it’s probably the vibe that he gives off that’s like some kind of big dog (however I’ve been jumpscared by that Gillette ad too many times so uh can I have compensation /j). I think his narrative from like talented but raw to being what he is now is neat (did this lead to proliferation in other NFL teams trying to draft a guy like him? Maybe but that’s a story for another day) Idk they both def appear to be pretty solid guys, and I’d be happy with either of them as my team’s QB :D

hello!! i just finished kh3 so below are my thoughts. obviously, spoiler warning if you havent finished the game.

first of all...... wow!!!!!!!!!! its real!!!!!!! i held the game in my own hands and played it!!!!!!!!! 12 year old me has been screaming non stop since the release im in a fog of emotion. every time i started up the game and heard that new kh3 rendition of dearly beloved with the ocean waves i just absolutely lost it

however, in the end, i feel mixed. i guess the hype over the years built up to an astronomical amount and while the game was incredibly fun and beautiful and i love seeing the story finally pan out into the finale, in a way it also felt very short? as of writing the first few paragraphs here i have just started san fransokyo, so i havent seen the actual finale, but these are my current thoughts and i will update this as i play. i still feel like there is so much more that is going to happen and ive barely even scratched the surface

theres a lot of new information that got me going WILD. piecing everything together & theorizing is always something i find fun about kingdom hearts since its so unpredictable. in fact i got so into it i had to start taking notes and making diagrams. i love a game that makes me bust out a notebook. (i do this for hm/sos/stardew and acnl as well lmao)

also every single time ienzo came on screen i went absolutely HOG WILD. when he laughed? the little laugh?? his smile?????? just thinking about it now is making me misty eyed fellas i love my boy

i felt very mixed about the paopu sharing scene. while i know this ship was always going to be endgame, i really hate how little development it actually gets throughout the Whole Series so instead it feels So forced. that scene is bone dry. the whole time i was wondering why they werent including riku since he was like.. 20 feet away.... like hes your best friend too guys.... i really am unable to understand this scene. like... nomura you KNOW how to write compelling relationships so what happened buddy. woody and buzz had more romantic tension than sora and kairi. also like when she leads him into the light or whatever.. whats the deal

i LOVE kairi but god. can you PLEASE let her do SOMETHING????? CAN I PLAY AS KAIRI??? im so tired of her being reduced to a damsel even when she has a weapon shes supposedly adept with now. she has had like.............. no development. im so sorry this happened to you kairi

im surprised there arent more worlds. i thought there would be the same or a greater number of disney worlds as kh2 but theres actually fewer?? and they feel much longer, or at least some of them do. worlds like the caribbean and toybox felt gigantic and took me forever while corona and monstropolis felt smaller. and some of the worlds you cant even fully explore until after you played through the story????

also im very intrigued about this new female character that keeps getting mentioned vaguely. i suspect there will be some intense retcons put in place abt her since she has NEVER been mentioned before dispite it seeming like shes very important. 

the final world place is very interesting conceptually but like how many times in this series am i going to have to collect soras lmao ALTHO i loved hearing from namine ;_; i miss u sweet girl

also uhh i could write for forever about sora as a character and how complex he is when you actually think abt it. i STILL see ppl saying riku is more interesting as a character but i feel like ppl only look at soras optimistic outlook. sora really keeps his feelings locked up way more than you think he would & not only that but hes so empathetic he ends up tackling everyone else's feelings too.. the idea that he is only powerful or useful because he has friends really hammers in how he says "my friends are my power" like.. every 5 seconds.. god  i love u but pls take a break for a Second. i just want him to go home and hug his mom

ok i just finished. like 5 mins ago. im still trying to like.. register what happened. the final act really packed a LOT together. i feel like theres too much to even mention right now. and theres still SO many questions. 

like i said before, i feel mixed. while there was a LOT to like about this game, there was also a lot that i did not like or was confused/put off by. i thought the first like, 2/3 of the game was too long and kind of boring sometimes? i couldnt handle in arendelle how they included the songs.. i get why they did it but it was NOT for me. the disney worlds kind of dragged on and, outside of the story connections to the finale, felt a little pointless. nothing happened other than the org popped in to egg on sora and then left. and the final act went by SO QUICKLY i didnt feel like there was enough time to register all the shit that was happening. also i fucking HATE how after everything, kairi was reduced to a damsel YET AGAIN. are you KIDDING ME!!!!!!!!! everything she does is off-screen and her "death" acts as a motivation for sora which is the worst way to do things like what the fuck

i personally really liked the game, even if parts were not as i initially expected. there was a lot of hype surrounding this game, but i think for what it was, it was as enjoyable to play as any kh game, and it delivered a lot of emotions, answered a few questions, created more questions, and wrapped up the dark seeker saga pretty nicely while still leaving room for future stories to be told. and BOY do i have some questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

people who dont like how convoluted, dramatic, weird,  tropey  or heavily-retconned the plot is might think its bad. but ppl have thought kh in general is bad for those reasons for years anyway. honestly while these are all things that i can understand and empathize with, in the end for me its about how it makes me feel rather than like, how well it follows storytelling rules? and it sure made me feel a Lot. like im saying this as a long-time superfan so lmao

anyway i cried a lot for a very long time about the following: old man yaoi, ventus and roxas being in the same shot, how everyone looks rendered in beautiful next-gen hd, lea isa  and xions new outfits, namixi date, uhhh seasalt trio finally got to go to the beach together, namine being ALIVE, all the shit everyone said after i beat them in the labrynth, how often everyone cried in this game, sora uhhh not existing??? what happened????? is this what the next game is going to be about???
