//EXP 1182, he’s similar to EXP 1160 (Dogday) but only by looks, and just like EXP 1197 he isn’t human.//
//EXP 1197 grew attached to EXP 1182, they knew each other before death. Which is why they get so along with each other, though EXP 1197 can become quite violent when 1182 is removed from his quarters.//
EXP 1182 isn’t aggressive, in fact he’s loyal and playful but when hungry, he becomes aggressive and hostile.
NOT CANON!

3 of them!
The third and final part of turning me and my siblings into demon slayers: my brother! He’s the only one out of the three of us that exercises regularly and actually does martial arts so he gets to be the strongest :P he’s also the tallest, like 10 whole inches taller than both me and my sister but he’s actually the middle child! And he’s only a year and a half older than me :)
For his weapon I wanted something similar to a staff but also containing a blade, because he showed me some staff forms one time for his martial arts club and it was really cool :0 so I’m not sure how viable the twin-blade staff would actually be in battle or how it would be made (but if the sword smith village can make kanroji a whole whip out of a metal blade then I think they can definitely make a scabbard out of metal). The way it works is that when sheathed, the blade is a full staff, and either side individually can unsheathe to make a spear. It can also separate down the middle to become two swords, which is much more effective for traditional breathing styles. Shougen is the only one strong enough out of the siblings to fight effectively without the assistance of wisteria poison.

Being multilingual is constantly being confronted with the fact that you don’t know a basic word in one of the languages you speak.
Yesterday, while returning from the store, I realized I couldn’t remember the English word for the object I had just bought. This object may have been one of the first English words I learned in school and yet I couldn’t remember it no matter how hard I tried. The best I came up with was ‘tubular adhesive’. I had bought a glue stick.

moi à la caissière en train de s’acharner sur la caisse automatique qui refuse de prendre mon paiement : « je crois qu’elle est en train de rendre l’âme »

I’m trying to find a way to parse this but like:
Make up culture is bad because of how capitalism has twisted appearance to be a basis of worth and social value. However, humans have been putting stuff on their skin since our ancestors started losing hair (maybe even before?) and ornamentation does have significant historic cultural value outside of modern late-capitalism induced self loathing.
Like. Make-up is not a thing in my immediate family. My mother and older sister? Nothing. My little sister is going to be so lucky to grow up in a space where she won’t have any expectation or support for make-up culture. I know make-up culture a shitty phenomenon; I know it steals time and money and self-worth from people at its worst and at its best feeds back into an appearance based cultural hierarchy.
But. But. There is such a rich and vibrant history to cosmetics outside of what is sold to reinforce that inevitably toxic culture. So many forms of art in face paint and more permanent and interesting body modification! There’s history and traceable evolving styles and intentions! And it fucking sucks that it’s been so corrupted to the point of no longer reflecting it’s original intent of being creative and unique and interesting!
Sometimes it just sounds like ‘don’t have tattoos don’t you know those annoying punks and degenerates have those?’ has just been repackaged as ‘don’t wear make-up don’t you know those annoying preps and conformists do that?’ Like I get what you’re trying to say but there is nuance to these conversations and willfully ignoring that nuance makes you sound ridiculous at best and outright hostile to any deviation from your standards at worst.

I’ve been learning Norwegian with books and Duolingo for the last (almost) year and every time I read “helgen” I instantly think of the exact opposite of what I’m supposed to think of. Practicing Norwegian? Think of Skyrim. Playing Skyrim? Why is this town named “the weekend”? I can’t win. The wrong one is always the first to come to mind
#emma posts#Skyrim#game developers: open up a Norwegian dictionary and point to a word at random#that’s a town now#it could also be a joke or something#I don’t remember if the start of the game takes place during an in-game weekend but if it does#the town only lasted a weekend (to you)#but a weekend implies two days#maybe it’s a Swedish word or something instead#I haven’t gotten that far into Swedish and Icelandic uses a lot of different letters#they seem to have gotten rid of a lot of them on the continental Nordic countries#but I don’t know ANY danish and I have no concept of Faroese (I am so sorry if I massacred the spelling)#I don’t have a Swedish dictionary so I’d have to use google translate or something to check#Icelandic seems to have more words for things than Norwegian but I’m not really learning that language yet#my grandparents decided to try learning Icelandic first and I am like. in awe but also a bit sorry#they don’t really have a reason to learn Norwegian and Swedish though. unlike me#and apparently Icelandic is the hardest to learn. which is why I developed my fantastic learning strategy#Norwegian seems slightly easier to learn as a native English speaker than Swedish does. and Icelandic is obviously the hardest. but it’s#also closest to their shared ancestor (remember I’m talking about language) so if I start with Norwegian it will be easiest and then#with each of the other languages the next should be easier than it would be without the other two#Norwegian and Icelandic have an interesting history as related languages but that’s not important to this discussion#but… Icelandic is all the same and Norwegian and Swedish have a whole bunch of regional stuff and oh boy idk#but all I need to know for the foreseeable future is how to read and listen#I don’t need writing and speaking yet#this would be so much easier if my grandparents had not just switched to English and forgot any of the other languages they grew up with#though the Icelandic ones didn’t speak much at all compared to my dad’s parents who spoke some of theirs as kids#I could know even more languages by now if everyone hadn’t just switched to English. though I keep forgetting how to write Spanish. that’s#only half related though. since it’s the second most popular language in my country we had some classes as kids and some media that was#bilingual but not enough for me to ever be fluent. plus I freeze up any time I try conversation because I get too nervous about making#mistakes. I’m so off track in the tags though

watching the latest jjk ep right now and this entire time I was wondering what how they’d animate the activation for Sukuna’s hidden fire power and the answer was that they literally put a box in the subtitles. honestly love it

to those who don’t speak english as their first language: do you guys also sometimes feel like your english has gotten worse and it kind of makes you feel insecure to speak to your native english speaking friends? cause i have sometimes difficulty articulating myself correctly in english and it makes me nervous when i talk any other language beside my mother language
is this silly? idk, i guess it’s another thing to add on my list of things i’m insecure about 🥲

would it be ridiculous to major in classics
#here at lincoln it would probably be a little ridiculous since the official program title is classics and classical religions#and like. i find religion vaguely interesting as a concept but i don’t want to major in like. jesus and his dad god#i’m aware that since it’s classics it would probably be more like greek and roman gods but that’s still just really not my interests?#it’s just that i keep meeting people and saying yeah i’m planning on being a history major and they’re like oh what era of history??#what’s your favorite historical period you must have one??#and i’m just like…. idk dude i’m hoping to spread information on it all not pick a favorite time and only do that?#my focus is more on the distribution of information than which information it is. history is just a good starting point#i do kind of wonder about majoring in something like comparative literature but i don’t know strongly enough if i really want to do library#like comparative literature is a cool major that i’m interested in but it wouldn’t lead very well into museum stuff#and i’m more interested in museums and non-library archives. so it would be kinda dumb to switch to an english major to start out#anyway this is friggin college talk again and i’m really sorry#i’m still gonna tag it and everything and i’m still stressed about it in general but it is entirely on my mind right now#like if you look at my brain 2% is will woods new album 4% is what i should wear today and the other 94% of it is dedicated to college stuff#wait also i’m realizing i never really explained why classics is at all relevant right now i got half way there and then distracted#i think i’ve landed on not wanting to do classics though. but basically i started saying to what era i like i say it’s just art and culture#like what kind of history do i like? oh all of it as long as there’s people there being people#and according to. everyone i’ve talked to. that means ancient rome and nowhere else. so#yeah honestly why would i do that. like. other people friggin exist the world really doesn’t have to be centered around europe#like. latin is cool and everything. but that’s not the rare language i want to be learning can i learn like. nahuatl? purepecha?#do i want to major in mesoamerican history or something. i don’t think that’s a major they would give me#but definitely what i’m getting here is that ancient greece and ancient europe in general is not my interest#like. don’t get me wrong i find medieval history really cool and like. the renaissance and lots of old european painters and composers#but at the end of the day those are things that i think are pretty. not things i want to devote my life to#i think indigenous history might be a good thing to look into. i doubt they have that at this school#it would probably still be in my best interests to get something very broad like history. but idk#anyway i’ve been talking long enough i can shut up now. just. yeah#me. my post. mine.#college talk

Can’t tell if it’s the Autism or if my coworker is just a Bitch.
Edit: TO BE CLEAR. *I* have autism. My coworker is a known bitch.
I say that I’d love to study middle eastern languages to learn what grammar does and doesn’t correlate to English, because I had just gotten off the phone with a man with a strong accent that talked in circles, compared to a different person who I know speaks Farsi, but is extremely direct and Google translate hacks off certain tenses when I translate something for him.
And my coworker starts??? Arguing??? With me??? Like why?? About what??? Like I’m over here in fascination pondering the grammar of different languages and she’s biting my head off with points that I’m?? Not making??? Like homebitch is also American. I don’t understand what she’s so fucking defensive about??
Like I KNOW she’s a bitch, that’s a known fact, but I have no idea what caused this particular argument.

okay sooo the english minor is definitely possible w what i have planned but i didn’t get the chance to talk to my engineering advisor abt it bc she spent so much time talking abt me potentially taking physics over the summer 😖 ce n’est pas bien
#personal#the engineering chronicles#the english chronicles#<- new tag hopefully it can stick around 👀#there is a very specific reason why i Need to talk to my engineering advisor abt the english minor so. aaaaaaaaaaa#like it is technically possible there’s not like any school policy blocking or hindering me w it like i thought there might be bc of the#specific way i would need to go through w it. but it could very much be disastrous bc it would have to overlap w a major part of the#engineering major that is typically isolated on its own like the program catalogs set it aside as the Only thing you have going on for a#whole semester. i would only need to tack one 3-credit class alongside each semester for it to pull off the minor but i don’t know if even#that would work or if it would if it’s strongly recommended against etc which i wanted to bring up but we ran out of time#she would have stayed on to talk to me abt it if i mentioned it but i foolishly scheduled the english advising appointment directly#afterward so i had to leave so i wouldn’t be late for it 💀 wrdhdjfkeitodjdkg#ALSOOO actually the english minor might Not be possible bc i mapped it out for a mech emphasis and now it turns out electrical might be#better so. in conclusion i don’t know what’s going on <3#‘not be possible’ as in im not sure there would be any room for it#although i think there probably would be bc i mapped out an electrical emphasis last year and iirc it was actually less intensive than mech#but obviously i will need to revisit that to make sure#i don’t remember if it was actually less intensive or if it just didn’t require a ton of classes only available over the summer like mech

the act of criticizing someone’s writing in a to them foreign language isn’t xenophobic in itself either. saying that something doesn’t make sense or that it sounds off doesn’t necessarily mean you’re only criticizing their language skills… and on top of that I do think that if you’re trying to market your music overseas maybe having a native speaker or someone with a higher language knowledge check the lyrics isn’t a terrible idea ?
#this is really not just about ()#they’re the group that made me have this train of thought because their fans claim that any criticism of their lyricism is xenophobic#they can certainly afford to find someone to proofread their stuff#but they just want us to ‘think outside the box and we’ll like it’#and that main line in nude like it makes sense#it’s coherent but I don’t understand WHY they’re saying it#especially the last part#and I think both nude and tomboy have lyrics that don’t quite connect?#it could be my lacking korean understanding of course#because reading multiple translations and explanations doesn’t make up for not knowing the language in itself#but the execution is very confusing … like I do very much understand what they were trying to do#but I don’t think it fully carries across#people spend way too much brainpower making up what the lyrics are actually about and adding layers that I don’t think were meant to exist#like ive seen essays on the ‘now I draw a luxury nude’ like which doesn’t really connect to the rest of the song at all#it sounds very randomly thrown in#the ideas presented in the essays aren’t particularly referenced in the video either#so people really seem to have made it up out of thin air#okay I went off topic and now I can’t see what I wrote in these tags#but I stand by the fact that people have a right to have opinions on non native speakers english lyrics ??? especially if they’re trying to#market the music to English speakers ???#also if I’m going to throw in another example I think useog practicing English pronunciation through google translate isn’t great… they need#better English resources

first of all merlin college aus are the backbone of this whole machine and i would never disparage them. some of my best friends are merlin college aus. however. i do have some beef with the majors people often choose for them. it’s not even that there’s one right answer or anything it’s just like the reasoning some of you bitches give is awful
