Here's the thing that really broke me about the goyische left's response to the Hamas massacre: once again, the uncritical, antisemitic double standard for Israel and Jews versus literally anyone else has now expanded to assume that Jews do not deserve human rights or have lost them by virtue of being Israeli.
Let's say, for a moment, that you have been radicalized to really believe that the Hamas attack on civilians was a liberatory action, perhaps unfortunate that it targeted unarmed civilians, but what else were they supposed to do? Besides, Israel has visited similar and worse attacks on Palestine for years, so turnabout is fair play, especially in service of the struggle of liberation of a brutally oppressed group. [To be clear: I take issue with this and find it morally repugnant. But for the moment, let's accept arguendo this belief as a baseline.]
Do you really include rape, torture, killing children at all but especially in front of their parents, or killing parents in front of their children and taking hostages of the survivors, beheading infants, trapping and burning families hidden together alive, stripping and parading hostages naked through the street, mutilating and displaying the bodies of the dead proudly and celebrating their deaths, and doing all of this on a holy day where Jewish people the world over are supposed to be celebrating the end of the holiday season and the beginning of a new cycle of Torah learning. On a day that people will be resting, with their families, unarmed and in their holy spaces, and are explicitly commanded to be happy.
.......amongst the "unfortunate-but-necessary violent struggle?"
Like even if you believe in your heart of hearts that all Israelis should die or at least are acceptable casualties in the struggle, do you really believe that there is any excuse for the above atrocities? If you do, I need you to ask yourself some things:
Do you think there is any justification for the manner and cruelty of the deaths?
Do you really think that there is anything a person could do in order to deserve any of these actions as a sentence?
Was the cruel nature of this, designed to inflict the greatest amount of trauma on the survivors and the Jewish people at large, actually necessary to accomplishing the goal of liberation?
Would you accept any of these actions being done to any other group?
If you are a white American, do you think you personally deserve this yourself for everything the United States has done to the native population (never mind anyone else)?
Do you think that civilians can be held 100% accountable for their government's actions? Is that a standard you yourself would like to be judged by?
If context is important, how is the last 2000 years of brutal antisemitism from virtually every part of the world not also relevant context? How is the Holocaust not relevant? The Farhud?
Do you think refugees fleeing genocide should be able to live wherever they can and that other countries and peoples have a duty to step up and take them in? If so, would you call refugees of genocide colonists and settlers?
Do you think that children should have to answer for the crimes of adults? That it is ever okay to kill them in cold blood?
Do you think that non-combatant deaths should ever be celebrated?
Theoretically, if the only way Hamas could accomplish its goal (which we will assume arguendo is Palestinian liberation, despite the mounds of evidence against that) is to kill whatever Israelis they could get their hands on, don't you think that a valid liberation force would just kill people as efficiently as possible rather than take the time to brutalize and humiliate them first? Wouldn't that be the more morally understandable thing to do?
Do you think it's ever okay to mock or talk down to people grieving their dead, no matter who they were, especially if they were random citizens rather than, say, high-profile politicians?
These questions to me are unanswerable and the fact that they are even in question at all unjustifiable. The left has either actively participated in this or remained silent in the face of it. And too many friends who I thought were allies have failed to reach out to even ask if we're okay, let alone made even the weakest of condemnations of the brutality my people have experienced this week.
This tells me that you think my humanity, as a Jew, is conditional. That my right not to experience war crimes is up for debate.
How am I supposed to trust you ever again? Feel safe in your presence? Collaborate with you on other issues? Why should I?
For the people who are posting about the situation yet failed to condemn the torture and brutality against my people, please know that I will likely never fully believe you that you are for restorative justice, against the death penalty, against cruel and unusual punishment, against sexual violence, for children's rights and against the murder of children, against terrorism, against civilian casualties, for the rights and protection of refugees, for freedom of movement, support indigenous groups, and certainly certainly anyone claiming to be against antisemitism. There will forever and always be an asterisk next to your statements in favor of universal human rights which reads: *except Jews.

might be worth noting that tubbo got lore today because he made it canon he warped back from the boat.
i think this was confusing bc he wasn't sure initially how to play it (he is not a lore guy by trade we all know this), and waffled back and forth with it (with fun bits like "it's tuesday" or "it's a time rift"), but he definitely did make it canon.
he has the story: the boat didn't leave, he had his warpstone. he knew they would just steal him back, like they did the first time.
he has the reason: he desperately needed to see sunny before he left; couldn't sit idly by
and he made it clear that's what he wants to have happened. he told his chat to stop "-rp point"-ing him about it multiple times bc he's trying to make it canon (and told fit the same when he came back post-ghost bit).
he also asked sunny's admin whether she wanted their interactions to be filler or canon and she chose canon
plus he had a canon interaction with forever explaining it and asking him to watch over his daughter
and he and sunny built things and interacted with each other based specifically off the info he was kidnapped, that he will have to go, and that they both knew it was coming
so while you may have to ignore or recontextualize some of the goofier interactions when he initially came back (phil/etoiles/fit stuff esp), tubbo did come back, the code attack did happen, it's already been fit into the lore, and i don't doubt sunny is going to tell fit about it this week!!

Something something Nine always said he didn’t want anything to do with family he shunned community he wouldn’t stay for dinner he told Rose to stop “making things domestic” but Rose dragged him back into community anyway and he resisted at first but then made the conscious decision to change for her and then when he came back as Ten the first thing he does is to stay for Christmas dinner to prove it to her

i can't stop thinking how funny it would be if gareth's brothers did in fact recognise him and were just like 'well clearly he has his reasons so let's all be good big bros and pretend we don't know him' and then spend the next few weeks before he goes off on his quest pretending extremely badly that they have never ever met this kitchen boy before nope not at all even while other knights are looking at them and looking at gareth and going 'hmmm'

strawberries & lemonade
i have wanted to write something for this month’s @steddiemicrofic challenge, but i have been unable to get my brain to do anything with it for some reason. however! that ended tonight and i was able to write this and now i’m gonna think about witch!steve for the rest of forever. thank you @sailing-through-hawkins and @hammity-hammer for enabling me. alternative title: how much world building can rowan fit into this ficlet? answer: tbd
prompt: charm || word count: 548 || rated: t
If you needed something magic related, there was only one place in Hawkins to find it.
Okay, well, maybe that was a lie, but there was only one place that anyone with any self respect would go to. Which is why Eddie found himself approaching the Harrington cottage at the barrier between town and the wilds.
Eying the edge of the wilds warily, Eddie carefully made his way up the stone path to the front door. When he looked up at the front door, he was surprised to see the witch leaning against the railing of his porch. He wasn’t exactly what Eddie had been expecting; he was wearing a worn yellow shirt with brown leggings, and some brown leather boots. Atop his head wasn’t a stereotypical witch hat, but his hair was tucked into what appeared to be a crocheted hair bandana. All of that is to say, he didn’t look like who Eddie had expected to find when he left the small place he called home that afternoon.
“Well met,” Eddie breathed, eyes wide as he met Steve’s gaze head on.
“Well met,” Steve returned, smiling slightly. He gestured towards a small set up where he had put out lemonade and fresh fruit, “Come sit. We can talk.” Eddie’s stomach immediately growled as he walked up the steps to sit where Steve had motioned.
“Are the stories true?” Eddie asked, looking at the food and beverage with apprehension. Steve sat across from him, sitting with his legs folded under him.
“What stories?” Steve asked, before noticing his apprehensive demeanor and snorted. “No.”
Eddie flushed, ducking his head as he muttered a quiet, but sincere apology. He reached out and grabbed a strawberry, humming happily as he bit into it.
“My uncle is sick,” Eddie said, as he sipped the lemonade. The witch hummed, eating one of the strawberries himself. “I heard you’re the best.”
“You heard correctly,” Steve said, nodding. “What ails him?”
“We..we think it’s a curse.”
“We?”
“I,” Eddie amended, looking sheepish. “I think it’s a curse.”
Steve hummed and looked at Eddie expectantly, which the man took as a sign to continue. He explained the little he did know about his uncle’s condition, a persistent fever that refused to go down, with fever dreams of black dogs plaguing his fitful sleep. All the while, Steve listened carefully, looking more and more angry as he continued.
“I agree with your assessment,” Steve said, standing abruptly. “Stay here.” He said before disappearing into the cottage, leaving Eddie sitting on his porch alone. When he returned, Steve held out a small charm. Eddie hesitated briefly before grabbing it.
“Put this beneath his pillow for three nights, and the fever will break and the dreams will cease,” Steve explained, eyebrows furrowed, betraying his concern. “Nights only,” He reiterated. Eddie nodded slowly, peering at the small charm curiously.
After a moment, Eddie looked up at the witch. “I don’t have a lot to offer in return,” he admitted guiltily.
Steve smiled softly, “I only ask for a boon.”
“A boon?”
“You will know,” Steve said, reaching out for Eddie’s hand, covering it completely with his own. Eddie hissed, shaking it out before realizing Steve had seared his sigil onto the back of his hand. “And you will come.”

On one of their adventures, the Doctor hands River an archeological tool.
River: I thought you hated archeology
The Doctor: Oh, I do. Got a thing against archeologists.
River: You hate them?
The Doctor: Very much so.
River:
River: I see. So you hate me?
The Doctor, still idiotically oblivious: Why would I hate you?
River, points to tool then herself: Archeology. Archeologist.
The Doctor, now noticing the cool look: Oh yeah-
River: Oh yeah?
River, turns to leave:
The Doctor, scratches head in confusion: But you're my wife. I obviously don't hate you.
