This blog showcases my love of a wide range of photography, art, literature and humour. I only post material that I believe reflects all that is good and positive about the world.

I don't post images of people smoking... it's fucking disgusting!

I don't post images of guns, knives and other weaponry, (with the exception of artistic antiques) Weapons just ain't cool and shouldn't be glamourised fam.

I usually queue everything that I post and run it 24hrs a day. I don't like it when others flood my dash so I won't do that to you.

Until the big change in 2018, I did post NSFW but I made a massive effort to remove posts that are now no longer allowed. Believe me it took weeks to go through everything. Since Dec 2018 I've any not reblogged any 'female presenting nipple' posts. I do occasionally post tasteful implied nude images that comply with guidelines.

I prefer to reblog posts that credit the original creator. Posts that state via Pinterest, weheartit etc. are not imo valid sources.

If I see a post that I like that has had credits removed or additional material added that I do not want on my blog (self-promotion, inappropriate comments etc.) I will often go out of my way to reblog from the original source.

I like to find and reblog from the many original photographers on Tumblr.

I love hunting through archives and regularly reblog from blogs that I don't follow, including many blogs that are no longer active. There's amazing stuff in them archives and I believe it's worth bringing back into circulation.

I upload content as well. These are my edits of other people's work, I always credit the original creator and use material that is in the public domain.

Do I follow back?

I always check my notes and if i see a name regularly appearing I'll very often follow back as and when I get chance to check you out.

I follow a diverse range of blogs but this does not necessarily mean I share everything in common. Eg, I'm a straight male but many people I follow are not, I'm following people who make religious and or political statements but I do not necessarily share that point of view.

I am unlikely to follow back if your blog contains large numbers of uploads that are uncredited or are obvious copies from another Tumblr blog, has no or very little content, a large amount of nsfw, makes lots of posts written in a language I do not understand or has very little other material that interests me.

Although I believe in everyone having the right to an opinion, I will also not follow or will unfollow if your blog gives out negative vibes or if you are in my eyes a 'hater'. Eg, you regularly post things that are racist, homophobic, sexist etc.

A while ago I sorted through the blogs I was following and removed about 600 blogs that had not made any posts in the last 6 months.

I also unfollowed a number of blogs that still post lots of NSFW. Sorry, I still like naked women but I won't reblog it anymore.

Do I block people?

Not had any reason to yet. If I don't like what's on your blog i simply won't follow you. I Don't care if you have an empty blog, unlike others I don't see that as a valid reason to block you.

i've been going on archaeological expeditions into the depths of the SPN tags on AO3, and tonight i got drop-kicked into an out-of-body experience so cursed that it'd require LAYERS of explanations to convey to a civilian how fucking funny it was:

apparently standard practice when mundane-AUing Castiel is to just give him the surname of the guy he bodysnatched?

and since SPN angels are all referred to as siblings (and are, of course, highly normal about that) it seems pretty common to just slap the same name onto other humanverse'd angels too

seriously though, it's incredible how much of my "maybe titties again?" goodwill tumblr torched in 30 seconds through obnoxious UX alone:

i am browsing around in the android app. i see a post about disabling some new content filter. this is the first I've heard of it, even though my version of the app does turn out to have it - they put it in place before adding any mechanism to let me know it's there. strike one.

i go to settings > dashboard, the place where all the settings about what you do and don't see are supposed to live. no sign of it.

i go back to the settings menu. squint at it. see an unremarkable entry near the bottom called "Content you see" that isn't highlighted or marked as new in any way (even though i can't even visit anyone's blog anymore without having to actively tap past an FYI tooltip that can't be turned off, every single time, shilling weeks-old gift features that I've already used)

...oh, that's where my custom tag and keyword filters went. no prior indication they'd even been moved!

i have a lot of filters set up. like. a LOT. i now have to scroll past every single one of them, tag AND keyword, uncollapsed and unabridged, just to see whether there's another setting hiding underneath. on mobile! even the desktop site is more polite than this, jesus

just to recap so far: the only reason i even know to look is that i saw a random post about new content settings, and i would never have bothered with all that scrolling if i weren't crusty and paranoid about sites that hide vital settings in the depths of Menu Hell. i mean, that'd be crazy, right? surely listing all those filters with no collapse is a signal there's nothing worthwhile underneath them.

oh no wait, there they are!

it's not just one toggle, it's FOUR new settings!

all of them are set to "hide everything and never even let me know it was there"

even though there is a "blur" option that would've let me know that stuff was being hidden from me without actually showing it

even though i have, in the past, gone into every iteration of the adult content settings that tumblr has ever rolled out and affirmatively ordered it to show me the titties

THEY ARE NOT TOGGLES. EACH ONE OPENS A SEPARATE MENU SCREEN. every single one of the FOUR new settings needs like 3+ taps in the android app just to put it back to normal.

does turning on the catchall "mature content" setting cause the three more specific ones to default to "show" and let me pick restrictions as needed like a goddamn adult? NOPE, i have to go into the stupid little menu for every single one

it's almost like you didn't want me to find them and, having found them, wanted to make me pay as high an annoyance tax as possible to opt out of being nannied

the dashboard banner that eventually shows up, btw, says nothing about having been voluntold for additional filtering, and also just dumps you out in the general settings menu and leaves you to fend for yourself, with no indication of where this shit is hidden or what "this shit" even is. and that's downright friendly next to the link in the announcement post that's apparently been kicking people out of the app and onto web.

this is not how you get a rightfully mistrustful userbase to be optimistic about putting scarlet letters on their own posts. this is not how you convince anyone that it's just a courtesy, not a scarlet letter, or that it won't be used to punish and stigmatize you the instant the wind shifts direction.

in the most practical here-and-now terms, this is also not how you get people to USE the new content warnings on their posts! artists, especially, are hardly gonna jump to flag anything as mature if it means every single one of their followers - regardless of age, previous adult content settings, or whether they're in Apple's walled garden or not - has just been silently opted out of ever knowing it was there. (this goes double if it requires more than one sentence to explain how to reverse it. which this new setting seems almost deliberately designed to do.)

look, i want the titties back, okay? i would be delighted if this turned out to be the first step towards bringing them back. i know Tumblr is under duress from Apple that affects how they can do whatever they're doing here. but the way it's being rolled out sucks needless ass, and if they wanted my hope and trust, well, those are easier to muster up when I'm not going in grouchy about the frustrating UX of an app that's just taken hostile action against my prior explicitly-affirmed preferences.

You and Angel have had a good quarantine so far.

Meaning you two didn’t kill one another and actually enjoyed one another’s company. 

Maybe the reason you two have yet to kill one another was due to the fact Angel locking himself in the third bedroom in your house, painting. 

Which you two recently purchased at the end of last year and now, you two were able to renovate as you two had planned. 

With the quarantine, your days were spent either painting a room, placing the hardwood floors in the kitchen and living room, or changing the cabinets in the kitchen. 

Overall, it’s been a productive first two months of quarantine

Now, the Santo Padre head was seeping in and you were not a happy camper. 

Though, another reason quarantine didn’t make you two hate one another, was because you and Angel love being in each other’s company. 

You two appreciated the days you two have together since you were always at work and he was always on a run. 

Living apart the first three, living together the last three, six years together in total, you and Angel knew how to avoid killing one another. 

Also, it helped that you were a respiratory therapist and worked almost six days a week. They tried to push you for more hours, but there was so much your body could take. 

Now, after being on for six, you were off for four. 

On your first day, you were nursing a margarite that Angel made for you while you watched a 90s Romcom on Netflix while he was in his art room.

You loved coming in Angel’s art room since his masterpieces gave you glimpses of how he was feeling.

When the whole thing with EZ went down? Everything was dark, upsetting, but you knew he had to let it out. 

It lasted for a few months, but eventually the colors came back. 

You didn’t know how to help him, you knew Angel was hurting then, but the best thing to do for him was to be here and you were. 

Angel never changed towards you, he was always silly, loving, and your Angel. 

But you knew he missed his family as well.

Your glad EZ manned up and spoke to Angel. 

You were in your room, waiting for glasses to break, but you didn’t hear anything. When you came out after EZ left, Angel held you, sleeping on the couch that night. 

And you also loved the artwork you inspired for Angel. 

It always made you smile shyly at him when he would tell you about the artwork you inspired him to do.

They were vibrant, so full of life. They varied as well.

Some were sketches of you that you knew he was doing since he asked you to model for him.

Others were candid sketches he took of you. Some of them you don’t even remember him doing since there was no sketchbook in his hand then.

“It’s from memory baby, EZ isn’t the only one with photographic memory. Though, you’re the most prominent image in my mind, it isn’t hard.”

You would blush and kiss him. 

Angel was too sweet for his own good. 

He didn’t draw often since the club took him away often.

So when he could, he dedicated a day for his artwork

And today was that day. 

While you enjoyed your margarita, Angel was enjoying his beer in his room. 

You wanted to take a peek since he’s been in there since eight this morning and it was already one in the afternoon. 

You figured you should think of making lunch soon, but you weren’t hungry since you and Angel had a big breakfast. 

“Babe!” You called out to Angel who left his door slightly ajar in case you needed him. 

“Yeah?” He answered.

“You hungry?”

There was no response and just as you were about to get up, you felt Angel hold your shoulders down and kiss you. 

“Jesus Christ Angel!” You placed your hand on your chest. 

He sat down next to you, your shirt was now dirty with the paint he was using. 

“Babe, you got my shirt dirty.” You pouted, not really caring, but you loved to give Angel flack every once in a while.

“You mean my shirt?” He teased.

“We’re partners, what’s yours is mine and what’s mine is yours.” You paused. “Except for the GT, that’s all mine.”

Angel laughed. “I swear, you love that car more than me.”

“No, of course not,” you looked at him. “Maybe just a little bit, but you’re still the number person to me.” 

Angel rolled his eyes. “Yeah okay.” He looked at what you were watching before taking a sip of your margarita. “Are you hungry?”

“Not really, but I know you’re a bottomless pit.” 

“I’m not that hungry yet, we can swing by Pop’s store and get a few steaks.”

“We do need some meat, we might as well stock up so we don’t have to go out again.”

“Great idea.” Angel kissed your cheek. “But, before we go, can we do something real quick?”

“Sure.” 

He took your hand and pulled you up. You two made your way towards his art room where there was a plastic table at the center and a LunaBean in the middle. You looked over at Angel who smiled at you.

“Oh god, are you sculpting me again?” 

Angel chuckled. “No, and you literally we’re not complaining the two times we did.”

“Angel, we ended up fucking both times.”

“Like I said, no complaints.”

You laughed. 

You stopped in front of the table, Angel letting go of your hand so he could stand across from you. 

Looking inside the bucket, your nose scrunched up at the mixture below. You weren’t sure what the material was, but it was light pink in color. 

“Um, I’m not sure I want to know what we’re going to do.” You eyed him suspiciously.

Angel chuckled. “Come mi corazon, you trust me?” 

“Um, that’s a hit or miss.” You stuck out your tongue playfully. “Alright, I do, what are we doing baby?”

You love being a part of Angel’s art process. It wasn’t rare you were able to do it, but you were glad you could do it now. 

“Give me your hand.” You gave him your left hand, his right hand intertwining with yours. He dipped your hands inside the bucket till it was on the bottom. “Stay still.” He instructed you.

For five minutes, you and Angel remained still, Angel watching your hands, while you watched him. He was a perfectionist with his art. Everything else, he was laid back, but when it came to art, he was a perfectionist. 

He pulled your hands out, wiping your hands, he handed the cloth to you so he could pour the casting stone mix inside. Once he filled it, he placed the second bucket down and smiled at you.

“Let’s go.”

“Is that supposed to create a mold?”

“Maybe, you kind of moved, so you might have fucked it up.” He teased. 

“You’re so lucky I love you.” 

You two went to Carniceria Reyes, and kept your social distancing as instructed along with your mask. You missed Felipe and the stories he told you about Angel.

How much of a pain of the ass Angel was, but how he was such a sweet kid who always looked out of his younger brother. 

He also told you how much Angel loved drawing more than he did sports, but Angel also liked popularity and art wouldn’t win girls over.

EZ was at the store helping their father as well. 

It’s been a rough year between EZ and Angel, but you were glad that things were better.

“So, am I getting a quarantine niece or nephew?” EZ called out before you two exited the story.

You blushed while Angel just laughed, wrapping his arm around your shoulders. 

When you two arrived home, Angel put the groceries you two decided to get since you two were out anyway. 

You sat back down on the couch, resuming your movie.

Angel eventually joined you and soon, you two fell asleep. 

Angel woke up first, watching you as you slept. His favorite sketches of you were of ones while you were sleeping. You looked so peaceful and carefree. 

He carefully maneuvered you, so he could lay your head on the pillow. 

Once he was certain you wouldn’t wake up, he took his sketchbook, sat on the armchair and began to sketch you. 

A few hours later, you woke up to Angel banging around the kitchen. 

“Babe, if you were trying to wake me up, you’ve succeeded.”

“Good, dinner is ready.”

Angel was a tremendous cook and one of the things you two picked up whenever you were off work was cooking together. It was definitely fun. 

And you may or may not have started painting with Angel, though, he was a strict teacher, sort of. 

You two always ended up naked. 

After dinner, you washed the dishes as Angel busied himself in his art room again. 

His art ventures were usually an all day thing, so you were surprised you two even went out.

But with quarantine, he had more opportunity to work on his art. 

He always told you, art was a process, so you never went inside his room unless there was an emergency.

When you were done, you sat back on the couch and browsed through your phone, seeing what you missed in the social media world while you were asleep. 

“Mi dulce, can you come over here?” You heard Angel call for you.

“Sure babe.” 

You entered the room and found Angel standing beside the plastic table. You joined him, looking down at the molding of your hands together. 

“Babe, this looks amazing.” You studied the molding. Your hands were perfectly intertwined, the details were absolutely amazing. 

You then noticed there was a sketching of you in front of it. Curiously, you picked it up.

You took in the details, always in awe of Angel’s work. 

You loved it when he shared his work with you whenever he finished.

Self-esteem issues were a bitch, but every time you saw a piece Angel did of you, you felt like the most beautiful woman in the world.

Turning it over, there was a note behind it. 

‘Every time I look at you, I’m reminded of our meeting at the carniceria years ago. How you gave me that shy smile, tucking your hair behind your ear, thanking me for the suggestions I made. I began to look forward to your visits, trying to work at my pops’ shop as often as I could just so I could get a glimpse of you. After our first date, I knew this was it for me, which was fucking insane. These past six years have been the happiest I’ve been since my mother passed away. I’m not really certain what I did to deserve your presence, but I’m thankful every day. We’ve had our ups and down, but this quarantine made me realize that you’re the person I want to spend the rest of my life with, especially since you haven’t killed me. I love you, mi vida, mi alma, mi sol, mi todo, will you marry me?’

You looked over at Angel, and he was on his knee, a black velvet box in his hand. 

“Will you marry me, Y/N?” He asked, the nervousness clearly evident on his face. 

“Yes, I’ll marry you.” 

Angel stood up, picked you up and kissed you. You wrapped your arms around him, pulling away so you could bury your face on the crook of his neck.

You couldn’t believe it, it was finally happening. Angel proposed to you. 

Placing you back down on the floor, you smiled up at him, looking back down at your left hand. 

“Fuck, babe, I can’t believe it.” 

“You better, because once this quarantine is done, we’re getting married.”

You laughed.

“Guess we gotta make a new molding once we’re married.” 

“No babe, this can be our memorabilia of the day we got engaged.” 

Angel took one of his thin brushes, writing the date on your hand molding. 

“This is the beginning of our forever.”

Angel smiled. “It’s been us since the first day we met at the carniceria.” He softly began kissing your neck, making you moan. “What do you say we end this day like how we always do during art days?”

You two always ended Angel’s art days with sex. 

You never asked questions, you were a willing participant.

And you were a willing participant again.

Alright, hello there. I’m here briefly (ok not briefly this post is pretty long) cover some of the stupidest internet drama, if you could call it that, that I have somehow become involved in. So here goes. A few days ago, I made a post about how shipping minors and adults, or aging up a minor to put them in an nsfw situation was cringe. Of course, it’s probably worse than cringe to ship a child and and adult, but I was being broad. I put a bunch of fandoms in the tags that I feel are the worst offenders.

It was not a hate post. I was not attacking anyone. I was sharing my opinion, and I was honestly just hoping it could spread some awareness that it’s a thing that happens and that is was gross. But a person who I will not name, because I don’t feel like being petty, took it the wrong way. Why? Because I tagged this fandom as well, because I have seen a few people in it who write minors in nsfw situations, without even bothering to change ages. That. Is. Gross. And. Wrong. And yes, I consider this a fandom myself, as from browsing this tag, there is lots of people who are fans of this ship(s) and make art and write or whatever.

So anyways, it was not meant to be an attack. I was raising awareness to something I see that is uncomfortable and gross. As a victim of child sexual abuse, it grosses me out that there are people that romanticize it. Once again, for whoever is reading, I am not saying everyone in this fandom do that. It’s like furries to me. While most of you are normal and just have fun putting your favorite characters in a ship, there are those few people that are predatory and ruin it for everyone.

So this person read my post and misinterpreted it as an attack. At least, that’s what I am figuring, based on the interactions we had. I don’t think they intended for what happened to happen, but it did. I feel like they handled it irresponsibly. In my opinion, if they disagreed, they should have just blocked me and moved on. But no. They instead were constantly replying to me, really trying to start a fight it seems, and sent me an ask saying “Stop making maribat hate posts so I can ignore them.” When I didn’t make a hate post to begin with, and I wasn’t hating this fandom. So I replied to it, writing about what that post was actually talking about. And again, suggested they block and move on. They did not. They continued replying, and people, of course, took notice. But they didn’t have context, they just saw their accusation and my response, and did not even consider coming to my profile to see if it was true. Which it wasn’t. So people in this fandom started to attack me over fucking nothing. Over the past two days, I have seen some of the most racist, homophobic, transphobic things in my inbox over a mishandled post.

I don’t blame the person who was upset over my original post. We all misread something once in a while. But they could not accept they misread, and assumed I was hating, and said they didn’t want to keep seeing my one post in the tag. If they are reading this, I once again suggest they just block me if they don’t want to see it. But their mishandling has lead to the worst harassment I have ever received on any social platform ever. I used to save the block feature specifically for the worst people on the platform. I’ve been on Tumblr for two years, and in that time I only had 3 people blocked. Over the past few days, because of what I’ve experienced, there are now over 35 more people added to that list. Have fun shipping who you want, but hold the people who write minors and adults in nsfw situations without changing their ages (which is pedophilia) accountable. Stop sending me harassment. I never hated on or wanted to hate anything in this tag, but unfortunately my opinion has been soured over the harassment I’ve received. If you still see this and don’t like what I have to say, or read my OP and don’t like it (I will have it linked somewhere), just block me and move on. No hard feelings.  understand disagreeing with me. But sending someone racist harassment because you disagree is unacceptable. ao3 homestuck literature roundup

ok so honestly some of the most impactful pieces of literature I’ve ever consumed... have been fanworks for the web comic Homestuck. while fanfiction in general has the potential for greatness, and there are definitely some non-homestuck works out there i that i’ve enjoyed, Homestuck has a unique potential for spawning creative, original and daring stuff! and there are so many new fans who didn’t even experience the first wave of ao3 webcontent. sadly the site has not proved archival quality when it comes to preserving content, and many fics I’m linking feature broken links/images or have been orphaned by their authors. I’m posting only what I consider to be Good Literature. these are pieces of writing that have struck me, haunted me, and made me cry. The Serendipity Gospels by urbanAnchorite (tzm) M

What is there to be said about The Serendipity Gospels? this illustrated fanfiction epic is a true classic. The use of Homestuck language and troll terminology on this fic is exploited to its utmost poetic potential, and every sentence is lyrical. While the story itself is original (and extremely well plotted!), events from the plot of Homestuck are echoed throughout, and it makes for a really satisfying read. This fic was published before Gamrezi was something that happened in the webcomic and gamzee had his downfall, if you’re hesitant to read it on account of the Gamzee<3<Terezi tag. Both of them are extremely well characterized. man... serendipity gospels gamzee is the best gamzee you can find on the market. definitely better than canon gamzee. And the pairing really works. The sad part is that this thing was supposed to be in three acts, and only two have been published. Since 2013... this shit sucks. i want act 3 so bad i’d commit heinous acts to receive it >:0

Cities in Dust (shit let's be hardboiled) by Cephied_Variable T

I’m not finished reading this yet but by now the ao3 handle Cephied_Variable has become a household name. This fic is... heterosexual. and where there were once illustrations, now there are empty white boxes. But the noir setting is played juuuust right, the soundtrack goes hard and it’s really fun to play the music in the next tab while you read, the writing is amazing (obviously) and... not to spoil anything, but it isn’t as much of an AU as it seems. really wish i could see the illustrations, bc the story is told through chatlogs like the source material.

Rule #2 by universe_c E (you can skip the sex scenes tho)

A super imaginative take on what Earth C might have been like. this fic was published while the comic was still updating, so earth c was a very distant possibility in the minds of fans, and in this work, all the players (every single troll, dancestor, human and cherub) are dropped on an uninhabited planet as an entirely new species with varying levels of godpowers, and they have to build civilization from scratch. It’s such an ambitious idea, and it was pulled of brilliantly! the author has more fanfiction online in that takes place in this universe, as well as selections featuring pairings such as Caliborn/Kurloz, an unexpected delight, and GamTav, a charming holdover from simpler times. This story in particular however focuses on Caliborn right after he passes through the gate. He doesn’t have a very easy time adjusting, poor guy. The narrative follows him as he rage-flees from his emotions to nonlinear points on the timeline of Universe C. Along the way he meets the family who he will someday love, learns about the civilization that will develop on their planet, gets laid, and matures a whole lot as a person. This fic is just.. really amazing. Read it!!!

Lost Teeth Like White Jewels by roachpatrol, urbanAnchorite (tzm)

Ok, so roachpatrol used to be a really big name in Homestuck fanfiction, but her stuff has... not aged well, and generally she is regarded (or at least she is regarded by me) as a pedophilic porn peddler, and she’s written a lot of nasty,  scandalous smut. but you don’t have to read that stuff! This fic and this fic ONLY (don’t even read the other ones in the series, bro) is just a really nice soap opera. Bodices are ripped, eyes are gazed into in close proximity to an ocean. And the hemospectrum has been inverted. All in all, if you want something dramatic and romantic to read on a rainy day, this fic is where it’s at.

signalbeam is an author that wrote a lot of lesbian fanfiction in 2012. I haven’t personally read all their stuff but it’s all f/f and it’s fun to browse :~)

Everything’s set for the surviving players to pass through the gate and claim their Reward... the only problem is, dirk has lost the will to live and is in some kind of mystical coma. Jake is the only person who can save him, by venturing into his mind-palace and solving puzzles that serve as metaphors for everything Dirk can’t express. It’s kind of like inception wrt to the dream mechanics, but the author uses folk tales as settings, and it’s all very poetic, and very well done. this author deleted her account. i watched all the drama. however all her work is still online on the orphan_account. she wrote this series (people who like dirkjake and artistic pornography, give it a read!) and also a medievalstuck au i remember reading and loving, but cannot for the life of me seem to find :( it was about eridan and kanaya and it was good. rest in peace, venusianEye! 

A Spark, A Flame, A Fire by callmearcturus E (one skippable sex scene)

The best kingdomstuck ever!!! \(^o^)/  ugh this fic is everything... the author has another kingdomstuck dirkjake multichapter novella online that is also very good, but this one’s my absolute fave :,] the strilonde fam is so cute, and dirk&jake’s blossoming romance (oh, yeah, you BET it’s an arranged marriage AU!) is so romantic it literally makes me clutch my chest and sigh. also the writing and worldbuilding are just IMPECCABLE. another lovely romance for a cozy night.

Basically, Dirk summons a demon (Jake) for stupid reasons and it fucks both of their lives up. Incredible work with formatting by the author, seriously who can even code like that, and i love the magical mechanics :) it’s very well researched and it really tears both Dirk and Jake to pieces psychologically. through porn.

Road Trip (If You Mean It) (AO3)

“George giggles despite himself. “Dream,” he says, and  Dream feels his heart firmly punch his chest. Somehow, the same effect of Sapnap looking more attractive in reality applies to George, except  fucking ten-fold. Sapnap teasingly whines something along the lines of  ‘what about me?’, but Dream barely hears him.

Dream takes a step  closer, suddenly very aware that George is as small as Sapnap is, a good  head smaller than him, only really reaching up to his chest. George has  to look up at him, a silent question in his eyes.

Dream doesn’t mean to sound so soft, his voice to be so drawled. “Can I hug you?”

Woop-de-doo, it's Lord Scarlet stuff part 2

This was a post I planned on making WAY sooner, but I accidentally lost the original draft so I didn't even bother to try doing it gain until recently. And just now something happened that changed everything; and I mean what both DID and DIDN'T automatically give me the right to post this. I almost deleted my first post at that, and here's why:

In the first post, I mentioned that when I initially found out Vic was lying to me, I was quiet about it and just stopped talking to her out of fear, and then when I asked for help on what to do I was told to leave without a word. I don't think that was entirely the right thing to do in the long run, because it may have been the easiest way out but I'm better off with proper closure.

And the thoughts she left me scarred with never left my head. Time and time again, I'd find myself crying myself to sleep again at the thought of Brock forced to hide romantic feelings for Master Frown and not know who he was anymore while Frown was left unaware and in love with someone else, even if it wasn't Lord Scarlet.

And the pain sometimes came with a want to confront Vic one last time and open up to her about how I wasn't blind anymore, and how much she really hurt me. But I, again, wass scared she wouldn't care and would cut me off.

So when the pain got worse, I did what any coward would do: tell everyone else about my pain.

Now I DID tell friends of mine other than the Unikitty Amino staff about what happened, and they were all sympathetic and understanding about it. But then I told almost everyone, and then made my vent post on here (as well as Wattpad). As much as I wouldn't want to call them call out posts, they might as well have been. I didn't want people to harass Vic and make her mad...but at the same time I kinda did. I was too scared to face her that I was hoping that someone would do it for me. I even tagged accounts of Vic's. Not cool of me at all.

Now the Tumblr and Wattpad posts got me pretty much more of the same: sympathy, and acceptance that I had moved on. No one came after Vic but we could still agree that none of her actions were justified (I even got @careeningle's attention...sorry about the aneurysm)

Now comes the next important thing that happened, because I mentioned @friffinx kinda being responsible for me getting back to the Lord Scarlet Amino to write the message that I did. In it, I said that after I sent the message I did I would leave the Amino again & for good.

Well...I lied. I still checked in every day for the same reason I started venting: I kinda wanted Vic to see my message. Even if she'd ban me, I wanted to see if she'd ever notice my message. And that would've been the end of it if it wasn't for Brook.

I briefly mentioned Brook in the last post. She was another OC of Vic's, and was exactly to Brock what Lord Scarlet was to Master Frown; a carbon copy love interest. Except Lord Scarlet was far more developed and drawn & written about more. Brook didn't even really have a distinct personality, she was a girl Brock and that was it. But with reptilian overlord eyes. (To be fair, Vic drew Brock like that sometimes too)

(I didn't include Vic's art unless it was in chat bgs or whatever in the last post, but for the sake of referencing/proving a point, this is what Brook looks like)

No one really paid attention to her for the longest time. She was there in the fanfics because according to Vic, "Scarlet needed a friend." And like I said in the first post, Brook wasn't said to be canon so I never found a reason to really care for her. Plus I can only recall someone giving Vic fanart with her, and it was with Scarlet (@plastic-papercuts made it, go follow her she's gr8).

But then one day, for some reason, something in me clicked. I actually thought of a story idea for her. Somehow this bland cutout of a character had potential in my eyes, and I weirdly started liking her because of it. She suddenly felt...more real. I got pretty invested in my idea and newfound interpretation of Brook, and describing it would make this post way longer than it is so if anyone asks about it, I'll probably make a whole other post about it.

Anyway, I came up with a little plan: draw out this idea in the form of a comic and post it to the Lord Scarlet Amino. And see if Vic gets suspicious and checks out my profile and then maybe bans me. It felt a bit better than total silence and she'd probably see that someone gave a crap about Brook after all.

So I started a new chat called "It's Brook" to share my progress with the other members of the Amino, which there weren't too many of but we had fun in it. It was basically me, @friffinx , @soapycocacola, @plastic-papercuts, and a few others who aren't on Tumblr (or at least don't think are) chatting about how awful Vic was and calling out her lazy art tactics like tracing and using assets/clips right from the show. And of course me sharing the comic progress I was making. Again, this doesn't make anything we did right but it felt good getting everything off our chests. We were like a secret rebellion against an absentee dictator. One time Vic came online as we were chatting and even viewed my profile, but nothing happened. And it stayed that way until I opened Amino up one morning. For those of you who don't have it, the menu shows all the communities you're in when you open the app, and all of mine were there except for the Lord Scarlet Amino. I assumed I must've been banned overnight. But I wasn't banned from Vic's other Amino so I commented on her wall on that one. For Vic's sake, I won't show how the conversation went (and I'll explain why at the end) but here's how it went:

Me: Did you ban me from the LS Amino?

Her: There was drama in one of the chat rooms and I'm not having it. I didn't want to do it and it's not a big deal It's just an amino and you're still on this one AM I RIGHT?

Me: Yes, but I assume you read my updated bio. As I hoped you would.

Her: Nope.

Me: Oh. But you know what? Ban me from here too for all I care, I feel like you deserve to know why I left and came back: *insert me finally telling her how I know she lied, that she hurt me, and what I did was wrong here*

Her: Lol ok be that person but keep in mind that I'm one of those people that doesn't gibe a fuck lol

And then she banned me from that Amino too before I could type and submit a fitting farewell reply.

At least I finally got all the built-up emotional pain out of me, but it did help me realize something important: we never really were friends. I wanted more of her content despite all her red flags as a person so I tried enduring them, thinking it'd be worth it, and she only kinda cared about me when I was being a yes man. She never kept any promises and didn't respect me the same way I did her. So I could at least feel confident knowing she most likely didn't care at all when I first left.

@friffinx and the others didn't get banned, though, and Friff even started another chat on the LS Amino called "It's Brook 2" where they talked more about Vic being a terrible person. And it didn't take long for her to shut that chat down too and ban everyone from it that time. Friff sent me screenshots of what happened next (which again, I'm not gonna show), where Vic basically had a meltdown. She changed her username to "Little Miss Guillotine", and made a post about her being "finished with the bushit". In it, she announced that she didn't even like Unikitty! anymore but was still gonna keep/use Lord Scarlet because she wanted to. The part that made my blood almost boil wasn't her views on the show, she's free to have her opinion and I couldn't care less about it. What DID was that she acknowledged that she lied the whole time because "she didn't care anymore" and said that it was "our faults for believing it in the first place" and that "we needed to grow up"/"stop brining it up"

Ooooh boy, victim blaming, my favortie...

Since then she changed the Lord Scarlet Amino's theme to make it about The Penguins of Madagacar (again, fine with me). Either way she was still a narcissist and I thought she'd, sadly, likely never change. And my friends and I all thought that was the end of it.

Until a few hours ago...

I was browsing the Unikitty Amino and saw a new member named BlueCat. Didn't think anything else of it until the user PMed me. And this is what happened:

I didn't know what to think other than "I thought this day would never come", I was that shaken. This was so left field-ish that what else could I do but believe her? It didn't even seem suspicious or like she was trying to be a suck up, that wasn't Vic at all.

But the one thing I knew I had to do was ban her because even if she meant well and did it for the right(?) reasons, but I still asked if I should in the staff chat. @girly-glorious (also amazing so pls check her out :D) told me that yes, it was ban evasion so since I'm a leader too now I could to it on my own. But I knew I had to message Vic first and Girly told me to be careful, so this is what I sent:

And then I banned her, the end (not really)

Now I don't understand how or why this sudden behavior change happened but I don't know if I should question it in case it's personal. But again, I at least want to believe that she's really being genuine and had a change of heart because never in a million years could I imagine her being this mature. Again, she didn't demand that I forgive me or probably even expect me to. But the message still does leave me feeling sorry for her.

Now I thought that was the real end of it until I see the Penguins of Madagascar/old Lord Scarlet Amino on my sideboard.

She unbanned me.

Now I don't know where we'll go from here, if anywhere. I'm not too sure if I can really let my guard down around someone who hurt me so badly just in case she does it again. So I may not talk to her again, but if she really asks something from me, I might try and build up courage to ask her more about how she came to apologizing to me. Plus she followed me on Wattpad too.

But this is why I didn't show our conversation right before my ban or her "f.u." posts. Because I don't want people seeing more of Vic's past behavior and possibly embarrassing her about it if she ever sees this. But that's kinda why I felt like it was 100% necessary to finally make a sequel post in the end; I'm hoping people at least acknowledge Vic has changed and don't keep thinking about based on what I shared out of attempts to gain sympathy like a crybaby.

So before I go: PLEASE, DON'T GO AFTER OR HARASS VIC. I KNOW YOU PROBABLY WON'T, BUT THIS IS SERIOUS. ALL THE PROBLEMATIC LORD SCARLET DRAMA IS STUFF OF THE PAST AND NEITHER OF US WANT TO KEEP LOOKING BACK ON IT.

Somehow you land a consultation with Harry Styles, one of the most renowned tattoo artists on the west coast. He agrees to design your first tattoo and ink it on you himself, but over the course of your sessions together, mischief ensues… 

This month’s featured story, The Shamrock Social Club, brought together avid Tumblr fic readers and Twitter stans alike in excitement and anticipation for each update. It tells the story of a girl determined to get a tattoo and her wildly attractive tattoo artist, Harry—fondly known as “tattoorry” among readers. How long have you been writing for?

God, as long as I can remember. I have memories of being in middle school, feverishly writing stories in my composition notebook when I was supposed to be paying attention to the lesson. I was conjuring up elaborate worlds and characters long before I ever planned on sharing them with anybody—before I even realized what I was doing.

Do you have certain habits or rituals you have to do while writing?

A lot of my followers joke about this, but I do a lot of writing in the bath. I turn off all my notifications and commit not to check my texts for awhile, and I cannot write without a giant warm beverage, usually coffee or rooibos tea with honey. I put rainstorm sounds on my bluetooth speaker. The thesaurus app and google dictionary are open at all times. Also, part of the creative process definitely happens long before I ever actually sit down to write—I’m constantly jotting stuff down in the notes app on my phone if I’m out and about when I think of a line to work into a scene later. I have all these sticky notes with like cryptic, half-baked ideas all over my desk at work… I’ll pick one up and all it says is like “The clicks a skateboard makes rolling down the sidewalk” or “The feeling of having an orange peel beneath your fingernails.” And I refuse to throw them away, even if I have no idea what I was thinking at the time. I think most people who write do that to some degree, though.

The ever famous question: how did you come up with this idea?

Honestly I was on tumblr and saw a collage of women with dragon and snake tattoos. I began thinking about the type of person who would want that symbol on them forever, and why. Minutes later, I wrote that “Tattoo You, 1981” blurb on my masterlist—of course named after the Rolling Stones album released that year—and then that became the preliminary blueprint for what is now The Shamrock Social Club. I literally thought it was going to be a one shot at most, but here we are nearly fifty-two thousand words later.

Throughout your writing in this fic, you show a great deal of knowledge about the process of getting a tattoo. Is this from experience or something you learned from researching?

Both! I have a few tattoos. One of them is a stick-and-poke. It’s been awhile since I got my last one though, so I had to refresh myself on the aftercare process. I called the actual Shamrock Social Club a few times to gauge what a master tattoo artist there would charge for something as large as the snake. I also wanted to be sure it was possible for an artist to fill in a tattoo as they work through the outline the way Harry does in the story. The researching process of a fic writer is so funny to me… I wish my readers could see me alone in my room at 2:00 AM eating dry cereal, deeply invested in a fifteen minute Youtube video comparing different types of tattoo inks.

When does a story go from an idea in your mind to paper? Is there a process you go through before writing it out, or do you just get straight in it?

I have so much respect for the writers who can just like, wing it. I personally need to have a story mapped out in bullet points beginning to end before I even open up a new document on my computer. That way, I get more time to sit with it and meditate on how close to reality it seems, and it helps me finagle the order of events and decide if there’s any room for improvement. Also, if I think of a detail or subplot that’s not in my original outline, it’s easier to pop it in and visualize how it synthetically fits with the story.

In all four parts (51k words), not once do you give a name for the main character or call her ‘Y/N’. Was this a difficult task? What was the reason for it?

This is a hot topic right now in the fan fiction community! Sometimes it’s difficult, but I think it helped make the prose in this story more seamless to read. As someone who has written original characters as well as self-insert fics, I think a strong enough writer can make a character feel personable and unique and real without an elaborate backstory, and I don’t feel that it takes anything integral away from the creative process for me. If you can get an audience to root for a protagonist in a couple of chapters through their choices, dialogue, hopes, and motivations alone, to me that’s a much more successful story… I deeply respect writers who are like “write for yourself, not for others!” but that notion doesn’t really keep me up at night. To me, it’s obvious that I’m writing for myself if I’m writing at all, and I’m very comfortable with that fact. Imagine that you’re in school for creative writing and your professor gives you an exercise with a few simple parameters… it’s a bit like that. I still only write about exactly what I want, but undergoing the challenge of writing for an audience has 100% made me a better, more versatile writer. To me that does not feel like a loss, or a compromise. Plus, I think it’s such an interesting way to engage with a story—you are explicitly the protagonist, actively steering your own trajectory with every choice you make.

Was the character ‘AJ’ inspired by anyone you know in real life, AJ?

Guilty as charged. I do tend to Stan Lee myself and my friends into my fics. Aijia, Iz, Steph, Ellen… all of those characters are based on my actual friends. It started out as a joke—I literally just needed a name for the roommate character, but someone suggested I name her AJ and I was like… why not? I love having fun that costs nothing and hurts nobody! Annie and I wrote ourselves into Under the Same Roof, too.

This fic very delicately tells the story of a girl who’s been sexually abused in the past in some way and is on a determined mission to self-healing. A topic not many will brave, but you did. Why?

This is such a good question. Honestly I was on the fence at first. As I was drafting the first installment, Nobody Fucks with a Snake, I knew I wanted Harry’s character to turn her away from the shop at first before he decided to take a chance on her, but I needed a reason why. Like, I needed him to see a glimmer of something in her, and simply him being attracted to her didn’t feel compelling enough to me. I thought it would be really meaningful and it would raise the stakes a little if Harry saw this like… tenacity and determination in her. One of my favorite scenes in the whole story is that pivotal moment in his office when we see Harry really start to understand the gravity of her predicament and how much this snake means to her. He’s so affected by her vulnerability, and it speaks volumes about both of them.

In the drafting process, I was talking with my friend Tanvi who also writes fic, and she wanted to know if there was some reason why Harry’s character feels such a strong urge to help this young woman, and why he goes to such great lengths to respect consent throughout the story. Like, does he have a loved one who was sexually assaulted? Is this a more personal issue for him? I considered this, but truthfully, I thought this story would be so much more poignant and effective if there like, wasn’t some special reason. Consent is necessary. Sexual assault is inexcusable and wrong. It is as simple and as complicated as that.

What was it like writing on an issue that makes a lot of people uncomfortable (but is still so important)? Did you feel like you had a responsibility to fulfil?

As a writer, it’s an enormous responsibility to parse trauma and heaviness and sorrow in a way that doesn’t glorify the pain, especially if you have a younger audience. Most of my readers are in their twenties, like me. I read something recently about how it’s true that writers shouldn’t cover topics such as sexual trauma, eating disorders, or major depression as to avoid romanticizing any of these terrible, life-altering experiences, but that doesn’t necessarily apply to people who have been through these hardships and turn to art or writing as an outlet.

I have an eating disorder. It’s something I talk about openly on my blog—as an aside, you should definitely browse my recovery tag! Through fic, I’ve written about what it’s like to have an ED. I’ve also used fic to write about having a stalker, and in The Shamrock Social Club, of course I write about the complex relationship one has with sex and romance and dating in the aftermath of being sexually assaulted. I write to focus on the triumphs instead of the pain, and I always try to make these experiences awkward, ugly, and honestly gross when they need to be. Without divulging too much of myself online, I’m well equipped to know what all of those hardships feel like. In fact, I’ve read many stories, fan fiction and novels alike, that portray eating disorders, stalkers, and surviving sexual assault in a really misleading light, and I wanted to create something I felt like accurately represented how insidious and terrifying all of that actually is. Most of all, for me, writing this story was so much more about the main character overcoming her strife, and finally feeling like she has agency and control over her own body again. At its core, the Shamrock Social Club is really just the story of a fiercely determined young woman on her own path to healing, who happens to meet a boy along the way. The writing process was very, very cathartic.

Your story got popular not only on Tumblr but across Twitter as well in a short period of time—an amazing accomplishment. How did you react to your (well-deserving) popularity?

Jesus, the memes that have been born out of this story on twitter and tumblr are… beyond hilarious. And trust me, nobody lurks on twitter more than me. I don’t know if I would use the word “popular” about this story or even about myself though. To put things in perspective, suddenly being under a magnifying glass is still super strange and new to me. I literally had about 500 followers for most of the eight years I’ve been on tumblr until the end of 2018, which is when I started posting fic. I think about this all the time, I could write a dissertation on how baffling it is that people suddenly seem to give me heaps of attention and put me on this pedestal when deep down I know who I am and I know how tumblr works and I know it’s just as likely that people could be sending messages and giving praise to literally anyone else. Everybody has something to offer, I just got lucky. In the grand scheme of things, this story has only reached a very small pocket of the internet and there really isn’t anything about me that makes me more special than anyone else, I’m just a person who had a few people’s attention for a little while because I wrote a story. I’m very proud and grateful to have people reading my writing and it isn’t lost on me how fortunate I am that anyone does in the first place.

The one thing I will say though, is that it’s profoundly moving to me the amount of sexual assault survivors who have come forward in the wake of this story. Anonymously or not, people have been so open, and have shared so much of themselves with me. It’s amazing how alone you can be made to feel when you don’t have an example of someone who has been through the same struggle as you and come out the other side, even if it’s a fictional character, and I think this story ended up meaning a lot more to people than I ever expected it to. I can’t wrap my brain around how special it is that something I wrote could offer some small comfort to another person who has survived something so awful. The response this story has gotten blows me out of the water to this day.

Who came up with the name ’tattoorry’?

Honestly I don’t remember but “tattoorry” is shorthand for “tattoo artist Harry.”

Lastly, anything you’d like to say to anyone who read your fic?

Thank you for reading my writing. On principal, I think that if you find something that makes you happy and it’s not hurting anyone, then that’s worth celebrating. The people who have engaged with this story made into into something so much bigger and more special than I could’ve ever accomplished on my own.

Do you have any tips for bloggers starting to get a larger following? I am 4 away from the 100 milestone and it's kind of scary.

My Biggest Tips::

Tumblr is what you make of it. Does your image of the fandom seem overall negative? Then follow blogs more aligned to your own preferred view.

Don’t let anyone tell you “follow back” is any sort of requirement. Follow only who you wish.

If you’re browsing tags or just looking at the activity on your own page, don’t be shy about blocking when you see stuff you don’t like.

Blocking isn’t an attack on someone, it’s choosing not to interact with them or their content.

As an example, the most common things I block for: Fan art theft, anti-fandom (Maas, books, characters) comments / asks / messages OR anti posts in fandom tags, and personal attacks.

You are under NO obligation to answer ANY ask. You control the ‘mute’ button on your own page.

Especially not anons where you have no option to reply privately.

Double-especially hate anons.

As a rule of thumb, expect at least 2 follow up asks to any opinion ask. Those follow-ups will be attacks, either against the stance you took (twisting your words usually), or against the sender of the original ask.

If you get a face-first (non anon) ask that makes a good point in a bad way and you’d like to discuss, consider giving them “Courtesy anon” status. Copy + Paste their ask back to yourself as an anon message (leaving nothing out) and reply to just that one, then privately reply to their ask saying you made it anon because you didn’t want them getting backlash.

Especially if they are young (also stop putting your age on your blog, teenagers!).

Some people make outrageous claims just for attention. As my following grows these sorts of asks become more regular. Decide if it’s even worth the time it takes to reply.

Your follower count = responsibility, not entitlement (on your end or theirs).

My above tip about protecting people who might not appreciate they’ve sent a contentious ask is geared towards this.

I rarely post a blog URL outright in a negative light because I have nearly 8,200 followers. I don’t want them attacking a person and making them feel bad.

All of my call-out posts have been for fan-art thieves who have a pattern of massive reposting without credit or cropping out signatures.

Even if someone sends me hateful asks, I don’t name them to you all. That’s me being merciful. I also don’t publically feud (with the occasional slip-up, admittedly).

Be kind as often as you can.

Encourage interaction with your followers- ask them their opinions on stuff you know they like to talk about.

Don’t let followers dictate what your page is. That’s your choice.

I’m thinking specifically of times when followers have demanded I do stuff like take fic “requests” (usually more like expectant demands), post content about ships I don’t ship, or get angry with me for not reblogging something I’m tagged in.

I’ve also received asks demanding I promote smaller blogs as a weekly thing. I reblog what I reblog from whoever, that’s always been how this page works.

Do not engage in fandom drama (admittedly a personal preference).

That’s always what’s killed fandoms for me. The most dramatic example being the Sebastian Stan fandom, which was ruined for me by a mutual so thoroughly that I have his entire tag blocked.

Who honestly gives a fuck if his latest haircut looks puffier than the last one, let alone debates it over a half dozen anons???????????????????

Tag everything. It’s polite and makes it easy for people to refine the content on your blog.

Especially make sure to use ship tags, in case people don’t like a ship. I have Elr*el blocked because I just don’t fancy the ship, so I always am careful to tag Eluc*en in case someone feels similarly about my ship.

To answer you @muhznit, well, I could desribe in detail how they’re wrong, but I just don’t want to write a Bible of how DeviantArt is an unwelcoming place for mature content artists. Many mature content artists with DeviantArt experience probably already know why this website is turning into the an anti-mature content integrist website. So.... If you want to know, let’s go with the long (but not exhaustive) version : I have been in DeviantArt for more than a decade. I wasn’t even adult myself when I start browsing it and drawing mature content for DeviantArt. Back then, there was already a policy, a contract between artists and deviantart. Mature content artwork = artwork tagged as such. Mature content being every artwork showing explicit breasts, naked butt or genitalia. Such content weren’t allowed with fictional character if, at least once in this fictional character biography, it has ever be represented as a child, then whatever you do remotely “sexy” with this character is called “underrage pornography”... A weird policy where you wouldn’t be allow to draw Scarlett Johansson in lingerie for example, if she ever was a fictional character, because we already saw her as a child before in cinema. Hence, it would be child pornography to depict Scarlett Johansson in bikini. (just to show how retard this policy is in a first place) But it won’t apply to her since she’s a real person and not a fictional character, phew... But it’s not that much the concern of why DeviantArt is acting like fascism against Mature content artists. Starting some weeks ago now, (some might linked that with the recent events of DeviantArt being bought by WIX.com a bigger media company based in Israel) many mature content artists started to get their artworks suddenly massively having the “Are your artwork breaking our policy ??” ultimatum accusation, with one of the policy part being pointed at, but nowhere any info about how the artwork would be, in any way, breaking the policy they were accusing your artwork to break. That’s one major flaw to start with. They throw an ultimatum to mature content artwork saying, “you might have or have not broke that one of our rule...”, but gives you no reason on why. Giving them a really stupid situation where DeviantArt, a stick in their hand, suggest you to do something about your artwork because it is ““wrong”“ but not pointing you “what” is. In my personal, ALL, and I mean : “ALL” my sensible artworks had always been censored. By that, I mean big black square and circle to cover up up to 80% of the actual artwork, by hiding breasts, butts, vagina, everything, and even characters’ faces to not let them being recognizable (and then, objectively not being able to be recognizable and so not reasonably being called “underraged”, if there is no possibility to identify them). THEN! Me, along other mature content artists unlucky enough to have been picked on by some angry narrow-minded moderators, got a lot of these warning ultimatum on our artworks by huge stack. I myself, got more than 50 artworks getting an ultimatum in less than a hour! that would be less than a minute per artwork to qualify them as “breaking this or that policy”. You can see my screenshot of all these questionable ultimatum DeviantArt put suddenly on nearly half my 10 years old gallery, on my DeviantArt profile itself. I repeat myself : all my mature content artworks were always tagged as such. And all my mature content artworks featuring a character that has been once underraged in their History had been censored, exactly for that very reason of not being annoyed by “underraged sexualization”‘s claims... Still, less than 2 days after receiving more than 50 warning ultimatum at once from DeviantArt moderation questioning if my artworks were breaking any rules. And, aside a couple of them that were, and I admit it, because I forgot to censor 3 artworks... all the others were censored far from enough to claim any sexualization, and I even put mature tag on them despite them, ironically, not being mature content at all, as the artwork were covered with censoring area mostly. You see the image linked here ? It’s just 3 examples of my 50 artworks who were all report under the same accusation “Underraged sexualization”. Case 1 : the pink kuribo and the black censor bubble is hiding basically everything of the artwork ----> got banned by DeviantArt without actual justification aside “it’s breaking policy” There was nothing left breaking policy in this artwork, but they act like it did... * * * Case 2 : Particularly interesting case. This artwork is sexualization, yes... You can see “oulala” woman nipples drawn on it (such a big deal..). But the most interesting thing in this artwork is that... It’s my OC (= original character), it’s a character completely created by myself (not a fan art of an already existing character). An original character made by myself, and myself only, and described as a 20 years old adult, and a queen of Egypt. Got it ? An original character made by myself, for myself, and created and designed as a 20 years old adult ... Right.... now, do you know why it was removed ?... Yep... “underraged sexualization” policy. THIS artwork of a 20 years old adult created by myself, was banned because moderators of DeviantArt are so fucking dumb, they succeed to claim an original character made by someone, described as adult... isn’t adult. WOOOW. Mind blow! DeviantArt staff members know more your character than yourself. They define their own arbitrary opinion as truth and above the character’s creator himself.

And it was written “OC” or “Original Character” way too often to miss that this character was my OC. So, it’s IMPOSSIBLE, if moderators did really their job of investigating if this artwork was breaking policies, that they missed it was an OC drawn here. Even more as, you can see yourself, I spammed inside the artwork itself that she’s an OC, an adult OC, so that it’s moronic to claim above me, the creator of that OC, that despite what you see and what I claim, she’s not an adult. Simple fucking logic. AAaaaaaaand it got still banned ! Move on on case 3 now ... * * * Case 3 : It’s a standing censored character in a female mesmer costume I took from the Guild Wars 2 video game. If interested, here is a screenshot of the costume :

It’s cute and charming, back then I wanted to draw this costume and so I did in this artwork you see on case 3. Mature tag was on, as always, on this artwork. It was silly, since there is nothing mature in just a character wearing a costume not even revealing any sexual part.... But I still put a mature tag, because I know DeviantArt is dumb, anyway, way dumber than the prudest church man ever existed. And I know for DeviantArt, a skirt is enough for them to go “oooh nooo mature content, OMG!”... So, case 3 here was tagged mature content even nobody here wouldn’t probably even call it ecchi... But whatever ... Who is the character drawn here ? You don’t know ? Ah, yeah, that’s because I censored her face... You don’t know who is this. As far as you see it’s an anonymous faceless character. You just don’t know, and it’s normal. You only see a body, and the name wasn’t even given on description and tag. After the warning ultimatum I can ensure you I ensure myself no clue, no name was given to tell with definite fact who was this character. .... .... BUT DEVIANTART STAFF MEMBERS ARE MAGICIANS !! \o/ You don’t know who is the character ? Well, them, they do! Because with only a drawn faceless body, these all-mighty geniuses could tell it was an “underraged sexualization” policy breaking artwork! Something you, obviously, can claim only if you know that the drawn character here is an existing fictional character and that this character is underraged. DeviantArt is so brilliant, they can claim a faceless adult body and unindentified person drawn, just standing in a costume is an underraged sexualization case. You should realize at that point that DeviantArt moderation is over the top in overstepping basic logic, and goes completely non-sense, irrational and just dumb with their ban of artwork and policy application... But wait, there is more ! ... All these 50 artworks who got ultimately banned, each similar to these 3 cases ( - Artwork so censored it shows nothing....(case1) - Artwork who is my adult OC, and so can’t be called underraged (case 2) - Artwork who the character is unnamed and made anonymous and unindentified (case 3)) All these 50 artworks were like 1 of these 3 examples (if not like all of 3 together). Yet, all my 50 artworks... representing nearly half my gallery since 6 years, were banned by DeviantArt moderations for fallacy and personal judgment from them based on 0 factual element. For all these artworks, I dispute their decision, and politely asked them to tell me, to show me, to point evidence on the artwork(s) of “underraged sexualization” policy violation. That they show me, by which magic, they can claim this or that artwork is an underraged sexualization case ? Name given ? Element that let you recognize who is it ? Element that let you know it’s a “sexualization” scene ? I asked them to show me the elements that can let you decide it’s underraged sexualization in all these 50 artworks, because I know they simply don’t have any factual proof in what these artworks were, that it break policy. If an anonymous faceless female corpse in skirt, just standing right here, is “underraged sexualization”, then, you are forced to claim all artworks ever posted on DeviantArt.com featuring a woman body in clothes are “underraged sexualization” case. Of course, only a fucking retard would look at a woman body in whatever costume, doing nothing, just standing, and claim “heyyy!! That’s underraged sexualization!!” ... You know what DeviantArt answered to me when I dispute those 50 bans, with solid reasoning, logic, and giving them facts refuting their bans being legit and unbias ? ... Well, they didn’t answered.. How convenient ! I show them proof of my artworks not breaking their stupid policies, and probably because they can’t contredict me or my argue, they just ignore my dispute... Excellent way to manage the website! Banning artists’ artworks for more than questionable reasons, act like they give you a chance to defend themselves, but actually ignoring any complain, any valuable defense the aimed artist can give. You may say I’m exaggerating when I call DeviantArt staff members nazi, But look : People who punish artist under reasons they never give and never justify, people who destroys artists/people properties only because they don’t like them, not because of breaking laws, and not giving them the right of speech, ignoring their right to defend themselves. Isn’t it what looks like a nazi behavior ? DeviantArt is acting against Mature Content artists just like nazis were doing against form of Arts they disapproved. Not arts that were breaking any laws. Just that they disapproved and doesn’t wanted to see. They never justified tangible and legitimate reasons to destroys arts. They just did, because “fuck off, we do whatever we want”. That’s exactly how DeviantArt staff members are acting agains Mature Content Artists. This is not democracy, this is the reign of totalitarian moderators who do, banned and destroy Arts, depending solely on their moods, not on fact. They come, they makes assumptions, they accuse you, because they can, bringing no elements of proof to back their accusation. They just do... And then you defend yourself, but they don’t give a fuck. “olol, whatever, I had already decided to ban your artwork from the start anyway lololol”. In civilized world : Everyone is innocent of any accusation unless proven guilty by facts. In deviantArt world : You’re guilty, because... because I say so (pfff, us bringing element to why you would be guilty ? pffff! What for? lel)... Now, it’s on you to prove you’re innocents by showing us how you... OH, well, forget... we don’t care. It’s more simple to just assumed you’re guilty so : BANNED! Thank you! Next! And here is, @muhznit , why I allow myself to call DeviantArt.com a place ruled by nazis. Of course, you may find it exagerrate, since DeviantArt isn’t killing people, but lol, of course they don’t... They would be in jail and we wouldn’t be discussed about this website, obviously, if they were entirely like nazis... But yeah, I claim DeviantArt is as much respectful to Mature Content Artists as nazis would have been with expressionist, and what nazis were calling “Degenerate Art“.

I just started volunteering for @zinedom​​, a project dedicated to helping fanzine authors bring their fanfiction online to the next generation of fans. If you’re interested in helping to preserve fandom history, or to read the fics they’ve digitized, please check them out!

1) what’s a Hot Take you have about your f/o? since i already went on about how della isn’t an inherently bad parent because she had more to catch up on than donald here’s another Take that i’ve brought up before: della isn’t “uwu dumb” because she’s sometimes impulsive and reckless. you can struggle with common sense and still be really smart. della’s an engineering genius, an ancient history buff, and, again, survived in space mostly unaided for ten. years. she’s kind of scatterbrained but she’s not stupid.

2) on what do you disagree with other fans of your f/o? we don’t NEED to know who the triplets’ biological father is. donald is their dad and has been doing a better job of it than whoever the biological father is. he’s obviously not a great person if della has never brought him up even once. the entire show is about found family and how you forge your own connections. shut up about their bio dad shut up shut up shut up (maybe i should have put this in the rant section instead gjsjgjsg)

3) did you used to ship your f/o with anyone before realizing you wanted to ship them with yourself? HAHA...nah not really...i knew going into ducktales that if i was gonna fall for anyone it would be a kickass spacefaring pilot mom so i sort of had my eyes on her from the beginning lol

4) do you feel like you have to defend your f/o all the time? y. yea...i don’t really get into ducktales fandom discourse all that much because it stresses me out but it feels like there’s always some surprise Bad Take just around the corner...an example was when i was reading a really cute don/daisy fic and the most recent chapter suddenly had della blow up at donald for no reason and demand sole custody of the kids, and the comments were full of people saying how they hated her. it just left a really bad taste in my mouth. of course there are sane and normal people who think della is cool or at least okay but there are always...those weirdos.

5) what’s the dumbest thing you’ve heard about your f/o, either on the internet or irl? already answered!

6) what are some tropes that fan art of your f/o tends to follow? i think they make her hair a little messier than it is in canon? which i like because it sort of gels with her personality. also a lot of people like drawing her in tshirts and tank tops which you don’t see her wearing in the show but i love when people draw her in them...she is just vibing.

7) did your f/o deserve better? already answered!

8) do you even like the source your f/o comes from or do you only watch it for them & nothing else? nah i LOVE ducktales...della may be my gf but every character in the show is my friend or kid or family. except for lunaris he can go fuck himself.

9) do you distance yourself from other fans of your f/o or their source? not usually! the majority of ducktales fans are pretty chill i think (though a lot of della fans ship deIIumbra which is a little ouch but i have the tag blocked so i don’t usually see stuff i don’t want to) so it’s cool to interact with them.

10) how did you feel when you realized “oh of course i had to like That Character”? I KINDA EXPECTED IT...like i said going into ducktales i knew if i was gonna fall for anyone it would definitely be della just based on what i knew of her personality. and when i first watched whatever happened to della duck it became very obvious that i was spot on. her introductory scene? chef’s kiss.

11) do you think it’s better to have a copious amount of content for your f/o, even with the risk of finding a lot of ship art, or better to have a lot less? as someone who has f/os both with a ton of content and with very little i can say that i definitely like having a lot of content...ship art does feel Bad usually (although there are a few canon ships that i enjoy like drakepad and twidash) but i have most of the main ship tags blocked and i also use xkit postblock to block stuff i don’t want to see. so usually browsing my f/os’ tags is a pretty clean experience!

12) aren’t you tired of being nice? this is an excuse to rant. while i did already answer this one here’s “i don’t give a shit about hdl’s bio dad: the reprise.” what do you GAIN from knowing he exists. why do you CARE. frank angones himself has all but confirmed he’ll never appear and/or is so unimportant that he’s not even worth mentioning. donald is the dad that huey, dewey and louie need and deserve and he does a better job of it than their bio dad ever could. stop talking about him in della’s tag stop asking frank about him stop assuming he’s fucking. gyro or launchpad (i’ve seen both!) not everything has to follow your beloved nuclear family structure. my thoughts on their original dad: della is a lesbian who thought she liked guys for a while, was in a relationship with one out of comphet, left him after realizing she was gay, didn’t realize she was pregnant. he’s out of their life give it a REST

i wish i had the guts to host a sort of...idk ‘OP Boom’ event almost like a solo EVERY-MAN-FOR-HIMSELF!! Big Bang, where no matter how shitty I (and any other participants) would think their stuff is, for a full 24 hrs, pledge to only post original posts, drawing or writing any fanwork otherwise, with some lofty af goal like to ‘win’ you must post at least 15 posts that are all you, and with enthusiasm to create shit even if you’ve never done anything at all before for fandom, or if you’ve been considering yourself ‘not good enough’ or creative enough. 

a whole 24 hrs where theres only purely your work, writing or crafting or drawing, just pump it the fuck out regardless of how shitty. even if you weren’t ever intending to impress anyone it would be the most cathartic exercise ever. Just. Produce content rlly hardcore to make something you’re at least remotely proud of for all the posts, in a condensed amount of time where lots of others are doing the same ~ And then the next day we all browse the event tag if we want and spread each other’s reckless abandon of forced creativity as we please?..~

imagine how freeing that might feel, to let go of random self conscious efforts just bc its an event and it truly doesnt matter bc the rule is to not care how ‘good’ it is or how much you just PRODUCE nonstop, and even what you think is just shitty stuff would be evidence you worked past that fear of not being taken seriously bc it isn’t srs! just collective fun whether you try your best to impress ppl or not? Idk.... I’ll probs do this myself for one day, just not allow myself to reblog anything i didnt create, but have a set goal of 10 to 20 Original Creative Fic or Art pieces in one day, no matter how much i might think it isn’t worth posting ~ Like...an event like this I already imagine as being aimed at ppl who wish they posted more original stuff but dont wanna put all that work into a thing only to have it get one note or something bc of small follower bases. I know there are plenty of ppl who can and do just post steady content every day so it seems like something easy or more special. But an event like this would probs get me off my ass no matter what and I personally would be super excited to see a whole swath of ppl just create with abandon for a full day. We’d for sure discover some new Gems. Discourse would probably hit the roof somehow on an event like this too but IT WOULD BE SO AWESOME TO SEE SO MUCH NEW PRODUCTION FROM PPL WHO DON’T THINK THEIR STUFF IS INTERESTING AND PRETTY ENOUGH, BUT BC THIS IS A WELCOMING EVENT, HUMOROUS OR NOT, THEIR STUFF FINALLY SEES THE LIGHT OF DAY EVEN ITS ONLY TO BE LAUGHED AT IN GOOD NATURE ~

10. Bill Cipher (Gravity Falls) First of all on this list is this asshole, gosh I have no idea why but there was a period of time where I absolutely loved Gravity Falls and I shipped with a human form with Dipper mostly because of the amazing art and some pretty complex fics written for the ship. It was a wild ride and honestly thinking about this phase of my life always makes me feel weird, like I liked him purely because I liked reading shippy fics starring him. 

9. Pearl (Steven Universe) This one is kinda weird too? Idk man I absolutely love Pearl’s design and the way her character is written. I’m not in loop with the SU fandom because ugh it’s not a happy place to be but I absolutely love browsing art of her. I love how she’s such a broken character for a kids show! I used to read SU meta and they’d go on and on about how she’s a shit character, an asshole towards Amethyst and toxic. But tbh, I feel like she’s just a complex character that made bad choices at times, she’s trying to get better, she’s trying to cope with the loss of Rose someone she probably loved in more ways than one and how she felt Rose chose Greg over her, and now she’s gone. I mean, she just can’t let go and I think that’s very human.

8. Pitch Black (Rise of the Guardians) Alright but this fandom was the first one I’d ever been in once I started out in tumblr. It was very cool and leaves bittersweet memories tbh, I absolutely adored the art and fics this fandom churned out, I used to ship Pitch and Jack Frost. The thing about Pitch is the fact that the fandom practically merged the movie with the lore from the original Guardians of Childhood the movie is based on. In the book, Pitch has such a tragic backstory, his name was Kozmotis Pitchinier and he was the best general of the Golden Army. After capturing all fearlings, he was designated to guard the prison of their imprisonment , he was haunted by their whispers and pleading and his only solace was his daughter, of whom he kept a photograph of in a locket. But one day, sensing his weakness, the prisoners imitated her voice and hypnotized Kozmotis to believe she was being held inside with them. Frantic, he opened the doors to release her, but was instead possessed by ten thousand Fearlings.

Sorry for the long summary but I just want people to know more abt his backstory haha.

7. Loki (MCU) I didn’t really know about Loki until I watched Thor: The Dark World in the cinema and I was instantly in love despite this movie being the absolutely worst of all the MCU movies, which looking back I’d have to agree. Loki is yet another tragic character whom I’m sure everyone already knows about. I think Loki is a vulnerable character who tries to be good, wants to be good but he just can’t, or he tries and other people just won’t accept him. He’s a frost giant and those people are considered monsters, how can he not be bitter that he’s the very thing ha’s been indoctrinated to hate and fear. He is a very complex character that the MCU practically does not do enough justice mostly because he’s portrayed as a villain in the movies. But I wouldn’t consider him a villain, more like an antihero, nobody trusts him and he doesn’t think anybody can love him either. I’ve only read a bit of his comics and I gotta say Loki deserves so much more than what he gets.

6. Dr Strange (MCU) (I’m breaking the one character per fandom rule idc) I know a shit ton of people absolutely HATE Dr Strange, and for a variety of reasons too. They hate him because Benedict Cumberbatch plays him and hating on BC is practically the new edgy on tumblr. People think Dr Strange should have been played by an american asian and all that yada plus the ancient one being whitewashed. While I agree some aspects of Dr Strange is problematic, I think people need to give it more credit, at least watch it for the cool effects that the stupidly huge amount of people worked on. Also as an asian, I can guarantee you most people outside of America doesn’t give two shits about these controversies and movies should be a source of pleasure instead of thinking about all the negative shit only. Dr Strange deserves so much more, he’s an interesting and while he does share some qualities with Tony Stark, he’s his own character with his own issues. Plus his comics are very fun to read, come on, magic in the Marvel is such an awesome concept. Fuck you haters, I just wanna have a good time with the magic man.

5. Sherlcok Holmes (BBC Sherlock) This is also one of my earliest fandoms on tumblr. Sherlock season 4 absolutely ruined it with all the queer baiting and the shitty plot. But Sherlock had always left bittersweet memories for me too. Mostly because of the absolutely amazing and complex fics written for it, I will never understand how fic authors do it but Sherlock fics were amazing and I would gladly choose these fics over canon any time. 

4. Asuka Langley Soryuu (Neon Genesis Evangelion) I have so many feelings about this bitch right here, honestly one of the most relate-able characters for me. Asuka is a very human character, she’s very proud and has emotional issues. She was considered the best of the best and was trained to be an Eva pilot since she was four because she’s a child genius. However she has a tragic backstory, her mother underwent some tests and became insane, believing that Asuka's doll was her daughter and refusing to acknowledge the real Asuka, referring to her as "that girl over there." She eventually commits suicide by hanging herself; Asuka found her body when she went to tell her the good news that she had been chosen to become an Eva pilot. She couldn’t let go that Shinji the main character was starting to become a better pilot than her despite training for months only. She suppresses a lot of her emotions and had unhealthy ways of coping. I just want her to be happy.

3. Edward Elric (Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood) Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is what I would consider the holy grail of anime tbh. Edward is just about the most selfless person out there in the fictional world of anime. I love the fact that Ed and Al started their journey off with mildly selfish reasons that is to return their body parts whom they lost to in a deal with Truth to bring back their mom which ultimately failed. In the end, Edward is willing to lose his alchemy, the very things that defines him, that started this whole mess, that is the source of his joy and misery for the sake of gaining his brother’s body back instead of selfishly using the Philosopher’s stone that’s made using human souls. I just want this shorty to be happy and I’m glad he is with that satisfying end.

2. Hitsugaya Toshiro (Bleach) The reason this guy is ranked so high in my list is mostly because, he’s been there for me since I was a smol kid, I’ve had a crush on him ever since I was 10 and I could never let go. He’s the one fictional character whom I still fallback to every time things stagnant, I love reading fics about him, he’s just so cool! He’s a child genius with a sword that can shoot ice dragons. Plus he’s always written in such a complex way in fics, Kubo missed his fucking chance by not expanding more about his character in the manga, but clearly Kubo is incompetent when it comes to plot so whatever I guess.

1. Kylo Ren (Star Wars) The Star Wars fandom or specifically the Kylux subfandom is probably the happiest plave I’ve ever been in since forever. It’s the first time I’ve ever talked to anyone at all online, I only lurked around in other fandoms but Star Wars made me able to brave the fandom and talk to people in it, I’ve met so many amazing people and read amazing fics in it, it’s mostly due to the KRB discord chat that I’m still going strong with this fandom. I absolutely love Kylo Ren and can he please crush me between his thighs. The thing that attracted me to him besides his unconventionally attractive appearance is his emotional vulnerability. Kylo has been neglected by Leia and Han as a kid and sent away to jedi school with Luke, he’s been manipulated by Snoke as a kid and Leia and Han just don’t think they can take care of him properly, they’re afraid of him and always too busy with their work, Kylo wasn’t planned, the way their relationship worked just wasn’t ideal for child rearing, Kylo was left alone with Luke, unable to understand why his parents don’t want him anymore, how he was too emotional for the jedi way. While what Kylo did was not justifiable with all that murdering, it’s not a stretch to say that he was very mush a victim of circumstances too. I related to Kylo a lot as I’d been sort of neglected as a child too, both my parents were always busy with work and I only saw them during mealtimes and before bed.
