nearly every time i say “i don’t know why i’m like this” or “i don’t know why i do this” in therapy, dalton (my therapist) will give me a pointed look and allow a few moments to pass before i am forced to sigh and utter the words “it’s because of my father, isn’t it?” as dalton confirms it is, in fact, because of my father.

AnF is. How to say. UnGuildensterned. There was a point at the beginning where they could’ve said ‘no.’ They did miss it. They are looking for it before it happens next time. They do know better. Futaba and Taichi whip out their damn spyglasses and find the point and then they do say ‘no’ ! They break one cycle and we-the-reader intend to see them returned to the cycle like laundry. In chapter 52 we do. It all ends as it all should and everything is wrapped up as expected. Then. Bam. They escape!! And us with them! They step out the fourth wall. Hell, even the positioning of the camera shows that Taichi has literally escaped his role as main character. We’re no longer in his head. He’s not where he was. He’s gone. Home free.
