Jack sits in the bedroom with the light off and the glow of the tv with the volume down low is behind him as the cute, little fluff of white fur sits atop a pillow on Y/n's side of the bed. When the sound of the call comes over the laptop, he answers it quickly with a smile.
"Hi baby, I've missed that stupid face. How are my boys doing?" Y/n said from the other side of the screen.
"I've honestly never cleaned up more shit in my life. I swear he's doing it on purpose just to drive me crazier." Jack explains.
"It's how he shows love. Besides, he's a rescue so we knew he would have some things." Y/n reminded.
"Well if you start shitting all over the place to show me love, I'm sleeping on the porch." Jack teased making Y/n laugh.
"I miss you." Listening to her laugh and seeing her smile reminds Jack that she's been gone for three days. He's been home for three whole days without having her sleeping next to him, eating a meal with her, being inside of her.
"How's my girls doing? Is she a good traveler?" Jack asked as Y/n held up the sweetest ginger cat so that he could see her.
"She's been sleeping the whole way. Something tells me you two will be fast friends." Jack smiled seeing the sleepy kitten that Y/n snuggled in front of her camera.
"I can't wait for my girls to be home. I miss you so damn much." Jack takes a deep breath and Y/n puts the kitten back in her carry case so she can focus on him.
"Aw I'll be home soon enough to help you clean up all the shit." She teases. Jack laughs making the pup stir only slightly.
"Have you heard back from your publisher yet? How the book sale numbers should be in by now right?" Y/n asked but Jack sighed pushing his hair out of his face.
"Nothing yet. He said he would email me and I haven't gotten anything yet so I've been trying to keep busy." She frowns seeing the anxiety hanging off his brow.
"Hey if I'm a shit writer, I can always put my cock on the internet." Jack shrugged making Y/n smirk.
"I'm not in the habit of sharing my cock, thanks." Y/n leaned forward on her hands and Jack started to stroke himself through his pajama pants.
"You know I love when you talk about owning my cock." He grits through his teeth.
"Of course I own that cock baby, I put a ring on it." She bit her lip.
"Come on now, let mommy see." She presses and Jack stands from his chair and pushes his pants down to reveal his semi-hard cock with a cock ring fastened securely around the base.
"That's my good boy." Y/n stood up from the bed and started peeling her clothes off until she could sit the laptop on the side of the bed so she lay back to show him the plug she had wedged tightly into her ass. Jack started jerking his cock and practically crying as he watched her tease him.
"I'm gonna wear this the whole way home so when I take that ring off that pretty cock I love so much, you can fuck me the entire day." Y/n started fingering herself as she watched Jack tug himself roughly, using his free hand to squeeze his neglected balls.
"I want to fuck you so badly. I want to cum in every single one of your holes until it's seeping out of you. Oh fuck I want to cum so bad." Jack whined. He watched Y/n's hand as she started to bring herself to an orgasm and he licked his palm so he could twist the top of his cock teasing himself to no end. He knew he wasn't going to cum. He wanted to save it for her. All he kept thinking about since she left was cumming all over her, inside of her, like a fucking pent up fountain. He wanted to shoot his cum all over her face, her tits, her back and ass cheeks. He wanted to cover her in his cum like a dog smelling the heat of his mate.
The way she made him feel when he was this desperate for her was a filthy, pathetic mess but he fucking loved it. Once she got off, she watched him release his cock and take deep breaths.
"You're such a good boy. Saving all that cum for mommy." Y/n sounded exhausted and Jack whimpered as he felt his cock twitch with the ring still snug. Once Jack calmed down, he pulled his pants back up and sat back in the chair watching Y/n lay across the hotel bed, half naked and smiling at him.
Before he could say anything, his email dinged and they both froze. She scrambled to get to the laptop and Jack rushed to open the email from his publisher.
"No fucking way...this can't be real." Jack felt his heart beating so fast, he feared he might pass out.
"What does it say? Jack?! What does it say!?" She practically yelled.
"I made the best sellers list..." Jack said looking at her on the screen. Her hands went to her mouth and she shrieked.
"BABY! YOU FUCKING DID IT!" She jumped off the bed and started jumping up and down holding the laptop and Jack laughed as he wiped away tears.
"I fucking did it." He nodded as she sat the laptop back down.
"I can't wait to be home and kiss you! I'm so proud of you Jack." Y/n had tears running down her face and Jack took in a shaky breath. He couldn't believe this was his life. Two years ago, he was ready to give up. He was ready to let his demons engulf him. Now he was in love, had a family, a home and a best selling book.
"I love you." He says sincerely and she smiles at him.
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."

Thee Antwerp Gig Overview (by #5)
me and @jeevm arrived around 7:50am at the gig, numbers 4 and 5 bc belgians simply are not a queuing people. not much happened beside chaotic uno and trix doing a short interview with us seven? i think at that point i forget
the bus arrived a little before ten am, and we were allowed to sit inside at that point so we just all went outside again and just stood there for a whole ass three hours being clowns.
jaakko, jukka and jesse walked by a few times entirely undisturbed bc belgians also do not talk ever. (and dutch ppl ig). respectful times.
eventually, at around one, Häärijä got off the bus (mostly as a distraction for K going the other way). This man came by like proper we thought he was gonna just walk by, but he waved and then decided to ignore everyone and beeline straight into my direction for a hug? hello? unsure how he still knows what i look like (was not in the yellow tshirt yet bc cold and he hasnt seen me since simerock).
K and Jesse came by as well -- please note at this point there were like goddamn 40 people there. Nothing like the Munich papal visit scenes at any point.
K just the nicest. Didn't remember me from simerock (fair, it was a factory of photographs) and was like wtf rollo (as per ushe), complimented my boots bc he likes them (they are r+ but usually kids sizes) and i got to be "mean" abt the r+ ticket sale and the bus making it stressful. When he asked it I wanted him to sign anything, I didn't have anything and he just offered to sign my boots? Man did not expect the clown to clown communication that was happening bc he seemed very oh god for real when I agreed.
Someone gave him a necklace and instantly wanted to put it on. The person who gave it couldn't fasten it bc nails/shaking hands so I offered to try and then idk how it got fastened bc christ I shook as well. Not helpful: Mikke both filming that and the boot signing up close 😭
Told Jesse he told me at simerock that I should just join the tour bus and he went "yeah that sounds like something I would say." then scolded me for not having been in Berlin for that 😭
H wandered back and forth a bit, had another weird football chat (rip hazards career) where I was sitting on a little wall, back to the bus still at that point, and he just leaned into me turning around and just held my shoulders the entire time? When I got sweaty and took my hoodie off later he also suddenly grabbed my tshirt when it was riding up I am Feeling Fine.
Was wearing the yellow tshirt w the cross stitch and he made me turn to show Jesse??? And Jesse did the nicest "wait can I touch this?" bc I guess he thought it would be fragile???
People formed a nice selfie line and K just said he's santa claus 🎅
H vanished, then came back out of the bus, and we had a weird mime moment bc I wasnt sure if he was motioning at me to get to him away from the rest. He was and I got fucking free merch??? Like free, not yet available merch. Genuinely what the FUCK. Im making an extra post abt this most likely bc I cannot explain what the hell happened in that moment and the things around it.
When Mikke did the interview w the first queuer, H just stood behind the glass door into the venue and started miming at us. Like not even properly in character? Help.
Gig
Jesus Belgian audiences proving once again we just Are like that. Refusing to goddamn shut up. Every time. Man disallowed to banter by loud belgian screaming. He seemed so touched though jesus christ time to cry
Got roasted for basically slut dropping and shooting my Häärijä sign up in the air before Mic Mac. "yes that mean fucking häärijä" local man fed up w my antics.
Got roasted AGAIN straight after Mic Mac because I was the person he pointed at during the "this is your home now" bit. (promptly decided diving behind the barrier and Face In Hands was the best reply)
Mild bit before the 2nd Cha Cha Cha as I was the front row person he called out for not sitting down. Just yelled that I got bad knees and I'm not sure anyone caught his reply properly 😂
Overall 10/10 excellent gig what the HELL. The belly flop on the balloon, the whole banter before paidaton bc so much of the queue ppl I was with took their shirt off, the way we refused to kept chanting, him trying to eat the bubbles, him talking about Hs dick and the whole balls convo??
Post Gig
Had to pick up merch for a few people, so went with the hope of a third Häärijä hug. He eventually got a bit held up outside of merch by people (lit at the door into the merch room) and I got to just "Sorry it's me again" but he just instantly hug. We talked a little about the gig (did I like it, how I was doing) and like K feeling much better/doing better ft. some dumb crap.
Merch was in fact gotten after I just LOST my friends bc of H.
CANNOT wait for London. and Glasgow but thats with normal people. Like met so many fun people in the queue who are going to be at London jesus christ. Party time.

Ground Zero
Prologue: Fresh blood
Tumblr media
"Damn it, Bianca, you can't just leave Mystic Falls!" Klaus shouted, making me stop on the stairs leading to the floor where my room was. A sly smile appeared on my face as I turned to my friend.
"A bet, Klaus?"
Tumblr media
Don't bet with me.
"How's it going, Klaus? Any pee break or no?" I asked, taking my eyes off the road for a split second to look at my grumpy friend, who was scrolling through social media. Klaus forbade me from going, even though after so many years (sometimes I forgot how many) I deserved a vacation. Wasn't it true?
"At least check where we are," I said, seeing that houses began to appear around. My new home, here I come!
"Ten miles from some town called Beacon Hills," Klaus replied, taking a swig from his coffee mug. Then he winced as he put the cup back in its holder. "Gross"
"And yet you're still drinking it," I laughed.  “We'll stop at the nearest station and wait until morning. I'm getting tired"  I explained, and the man nodded. I continued to drive, when Klaus suddenly shifted in his seat, glancing intently in the side mirror.
"I think we'll might have to stop a little further" I furrowed my brows and looked in the mirror. I caught a glimpse of the driver of the car behind us in the mirror and smiled sly at him.
"Klaus, turn the music up"  The man did what I asked for and fastened his seatbelts. "This is going to be fun" I said, suddenly hitting the gas. The car following us was also speeding up.
"Any idea?" Klaus asked.
"Hunters. They're going after me for a few weeks. I changed gears and looked in the mirror.
"Automatic transmission is easier, you know?"
"Manual funnier," I said, shifting gears again. Seeing that the car was still following us, I frowned.
"God, I can't have one day off?" I asked, annoyed, and suddenly turned left.
"What's the plan?"
"We're stopping at Beacon Hills. Find some house on sale" he raised his eyebrows, but he didn't comment on it, he just started looking for a house to buy.  Money has never been a problem for me.  I had loads of them and liked to spend them.
"They're still coming after us?" I asked, focusing on the rough and dark road.
I could see well in the dark, but I preferred to be careful.
"Yupp, they are" he smiled slowly, slowly realizing what I mean. He stretched his arms out in front of him, stretching after a long trip. Wish I could do the same.
I noticed, that the road is closing, so I slowed down and swerved hard, making us face the car that was still following us.
Klaus quickly got out of the car, stretching his body and getting ready for a fight. I stayed in the car, carefully watching the car stop in front of my friend. I noticed something in the woods, like a pair of eyes. I ignored it, though. Seeing the second car, I got out of my car. Several people got out of the cars.  There weren't many, maybe five or six.
"Hungry?" asked Klaus, turning his head back to smile at you. You chuckled, showing him your fangs.
The man turned around, as hunters attacked him. They only paid attention to Klaus, which made me yawn and move closer to one of them. I tapped his shoulder twice, and when he turned around, I punched his nose. He tried to punch me back, but his eyes were filled with tears.
I quickly grabbed his hand that was outstretched towards me, and with no hesitation, threw him over my shoulder. As I leaned over to knock him unconscious, another man pulled me back and punched me in the nose.
My head snapped back and my whole body followed, causing me to fall over and roll a few meters. I groaned, feeling tears in my eyes making it difficult to see.
My other senses, luckily, still worked, and I sensed the man approaching me.
He grabbed my right leg, lifting it up, and when he did, I bounced off the other which, thanks to my grace, allowed me to jump on his back. I wrapped my arms around his neck and squeezed hard, choking him.
When he finally lost consciousness, he fell forward, allowing me to stand calmly on my feet. I ran my tongue over my teeth, feeling hunger grow stronger through the smell of blood, but there was still one man left. I turned around, facing the last man back, as he fought with Klaus. I came up from behind and hit his temple, which made him lose consciousness quickly as he fell down. I looked at my friend and frowned, seeing as his mouth was already stained by blood.
"And here I was thinking, that you would wait for me with dinner" I sighed, shaking my head, as I moved to one man. I didn't know who it was, all that mattered was the beautiful smell of his blood. He must have had a good diet because his smell was the most inviting. I bend down extending my fangs again, and I quickly showed my fangs into his vein. His blood tasted amazing and fresh.
"Now, now, we talk about not getting used to fresh blood again" Klaus said, pulling me back. I turned around to him, rolling my eyes. He laughed as he came a little closer, gently wiping the blood from around my mouth.
"And now you look decent" he stood up again, giving me his hand to help me up. I accepted the help and when I got up we walked to my car together. Klaus got in, but I felt the need to look around the forest.
I was almost sure that I locked eyes with someone or something, but I shrugged it off and got into the car. I noticed that the sun was slowly rising, so I started the engine and drove away, heading for Beacon Hills, where I had been gone for a long time.

Post-Fall Falls False Starts- Chapter 18: Looking Back
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter [not yet uploaded to tumblr]
There were two kinds of slow walk. One was the sort of walk a group of heroes would do on the way to the villain's headquarters, the sort of walk wrestlers sometimes entered the ring with. Ideally there would be a cool song playing in the background and then that song would be reused at climatic moments later in the series, but you'd never really feel the impact as strongly as you felt it that first time- she digressed. The second type was the sad type. Emotions could weigh a girl down like a backpack full of dumbbells, and though having them around usually motivated her to get where she was going and do what she was planning to do faster than usual, something about that just wasn't happening tonight. Part of her hoped to run into a monster just so something would take her mind off of the situation. None came. Only her own inner demons, which seemed less like formally-dressed hot tall guys and more like shapeless masses of painful thoughts.
Several major doors to the future had just been abruptly and unceremoniously closed off to her. She hadn't even planned to use the 'out' she had prepared by stealing from the van until much later, but now that it was no longer a possibility, this place seemed less like a magical land of possibility and wish fulfillment and more like a lawless universe of danger and despair. Why, oh why couldn't she find it in herself to get excited? Danger was good! Much of her work contained dangerous situations over which heroes triumphed. The rest of it was fluff, which was definitely out of the question right now. The difference, she realized, was that she was unsure of her ability to triumph. Her fantasies swerved from all the ways she could live it up here to all the ways she could die here. Okay, so the present was a dark forest path and the future was a cave full of monsters- the former was literal, the latter was metaphorical. What about the past? Ah, yes, the past.
She met up with Rob on her fifth real day here and they had been grilling mushrooms and catching small forest animals ever since. Before that, though, life was less... stable.
MORNING 1: DEEP FREEZE
If she squinted, she could make out the clock on the wall of the vacant grocery store. 2:11. That had to be AM since the stars and moon were overhead.
The doors were locked. She snuck around the perimeter of the building, back to the wall like a secret agent looking for 'weak spots' in its structure. A rusty air vent grate hung loose from one of its fasteners. Excellent! She was tall enough to pull herself through after lugging over a rock to step on. The grate on the other end came off with surprisingly little resistance and she happily tumbled face-first onto the glorious air-conditioned sales floor, where she made a beeline for the icebox next to the checkout counter, slipping her head inside, letting out a pleasurable sigh, and then curling her body up on the floor next to it. This was perfect. The only thing that could make this whole situation any more perfect, she thought out loud, was if she encountered a certain someone in her dreams.
Her first encounter with a 'local' was far from that, though. She groggily opened her eyes to see a slack-jawed cashier, freshly into work, staring down at her. In a flash, she reached for her head, popped it back on, and theatrically looked over the other ice creams.
"I'm aliiiive!" she gasped, feigning lightheadedness. "My brethren," she addressed the inanimate frozen treats, scooping a couple of them into her arms, "why only me? Why have you not all been awakened to the glory of sapience?"
When no answer came, she leaned over the icebox for a moment like a grieving widow at a military funeral, pretended to steel herself, and then ran out of the store and into the woods via the automatic door.
AFTERNOON 1: INTO THE WOODS
With a spring in her step and a sparkle in her eyes, Sarah whistled some nameless tune all the way down the forest path. Was it for fun? To occupy her mind? To stave off hunters? To stave off monsters? To attract monsters? She didn't know for sure, but she also didn't need a rationale to continue with it. Whatever ended up happening would be swiftly rationalized as part of her plan. When the forest stopped being creepily sunny and started being sunnily creepy, she sat down on a rock and started on one of the popsicles she had grabbed earlier. It was strawberry flavored and if Sarah tried hard enough she could make out some faint differences between this universe's strawberry flavor and her own universe's strawberry flavor... or, on second thought, that probably just came down to the brand.
"It would be a shame if my peaceful lunch in the scary forest was interrupted," she spoke out loud to no one in particular, hoping that, as was typical for cartoons, something would happen right afterwards. It was almost a letdown when nothing did.
As dusk set in, she wandered the forest in search of a birch tree, failed to locate any, and fell asleep eventually on the roots of an evergreen tree, driven not by fatigue but by a simple desire to dream. She did have a dream that night. It was about a meteor impact on Elmore, only when the meteor came down instead of spreading fire and destruction it made all of the computers and TVs in town start playing loud dubstep. Sarah was a member of the task force dispatched to chop up the metaphor and eat it (which seemed sensible in the dream but was confusing upon waking up).
DAY 2: THE TREES HAVE EYES
Sarah noticed a small anthill near her sleeping tree when she woke up. The ants, going about their day, were a good metaphor for... something. She didn't really know what and her creative juices weren't flowing fast enough today to push her to come up with something. She was melting a little. As one ant trotted aimlessly around in a search for food, she noticed something odd: none of the ants had approached her yet, and she, a self-proclaimed tall drink of 50% water, 15% sugar, and 45% dairy, had been sleeping there for at least five or six hours. 'That's alright,' she thought, 'the ants here are probably weird like everything else.'
Part of her mind told her the ants weren't the problem.
Just 10 minutes from the sleeping spot was a small grove of birch trees and their adjacent cave. This place, she decided, would be her hideout! Exploring the cave, though, Sarah discovered a giant spider with human feet on the ends of its eight legs, heard it hiss territorially at her, and quickly changed her earlier decision. The rest of the day was spent scouting out other caves, none of which were quite as eventful (though she did spot some small footprints that could have belonged to some distant gnome), and she topped it off with a rather one-sided wrestling contest against several angry raccoons over what had seemed a worthy prize: a bucketload of discarded food from the dumpster out back of Greasy's Diner. It was delicious- the victory, that is. The food, on the other hand, was mediocre. And all of it tasted like coffee.
MORNING 3: DISTANT ENCOUNTERS
As the wee hours of the morning on the third day dragged on, Sarah, an early riser, donned "her" top hat and bow tie and her eye patch, left the shallow cave she had slept in the previous night, and trudged out to sit out by the edge of the lake, its subsurface disappointingly free of any visible lake monsters. The moonlight made the whole thing awfully serene, just like a painting in the waiting room of a doctor's office. Sarah couldn't help but skip a small stone across the surface. When it hit the water and sunk on first contact, she remembered with a heavy heart that she did not actually know how to skip a stone. That had once been a source of trauma and/or drama in her childhood; a friend from Richwood Elementary, a well-off human girl, had invited her to a lake house birthday party and the girl's snooty parents had nearly laughed her off the property when she came in last in their stone-skipping contest. She had never really fit in, but that was okay because of uniqueness, or something. That lake house had been in the 2D part of town. This town was in the 2D part of the multiverse. Something about the view brought her back.
When a group of rowdy early-bird fishers pulled up by the lake with a boat strapped haphazardly on top of their truck, rather than going and saying hi like she had been urging herself to do despite her appearance, Sarah fled into the woods clutching the hat for dear life. In retrospect the group of middle-aged men probably would not have been enthusiastic about greeting her for multiple reasons, but what citizen would be? No, she needed to wait for the right moment. Now she was just worried that moment might never come.
AFTERNOON 3: CATCHING FLIES WITH IMITATION IS THE SINCEREST FORM OF FLATTERY
The ground would be her canvas and that big stick over there would be her brush. On second thought, maybe her finger would be her brush, because the stick didn't allow her the sort of control she needed to make three letters fit neatly inside a tiny heart. A heart... there was something else she had meant to draw, but what? Oh! Right.
After a few minutes of sloppy work there were eyes of providence in a circle around the clearing, with legs, arms, and accessories for good measure. Sarah hoped this would be an effective 'trap' for the object of her makeshift summons even without the Latin incantation, but the afternoon was still young, and she had to make use of her time effectively. What did that even mean at a time like this? She had no concrete plans, just a bunch of tiny idea fragments. She decided, staring at the watchful eyes around her, that she would go through all her ideas from least to most embarrassing. Everyone liked exponentially escalating hijinks.
The first act was a monologue. She took up the old adage and imagined a naked audience to replace the nonexistent audience before her. It helped with the nervousness, or maybe she didn't have any nervousness to begin with, but either way it was absent by the time she hit her stride.
"...And that's why i think there should be more shoujo love interests with huge biceps. Anyways, you ever wondered why anybody would choose to have one eye?" she asked, pausing for an imaginary burst of laughter and flipping up her eye patch. "Of course, I don't mean to insult anybody who doesn't have a choice. But if you do have a choice? I mean, c'mon. I'd love to interview some shapeshifting one-eyed guy about that someday, but of course nobody's listening." Another pause, a slow sweeping look at her surroundings, a glance over at the eye patch. "I just wear this thing to look cool! Maybe that's why someone would choose that. Am I a hypocrite? I might be a hypocrite."
The second act was jokes. She told a few of her many memorized puns related to herself ("What does ice cream do when it gets stressed? It has a meltdown!") and then filled time with a particularly long and winding joke about a monk that ended with an unsatisfying punchline. The fun of that one was considerably lessened without the groans that always followed her telling it back home. The capstone on her set began with "My ex wife still misses me," followed by a tangent about whether it was even appropriate to tell jokes that start on false premises about the teller, whether joke plagiarism applied to informal conversations, and ultimately whether a tree that fell in the forest with no one to hear it would make a sound. The punchline to that final joke never arrived because she had forgotten where the conversation began.
The third act was music. Sarah's vocal chops were better suited to calmer, quieter, and/or creepier tunes than the loud and flashy showman-esque renditions she was now attempting to put on with her stick in hand as a makeshift cane. The first song she had in mind was We'll Meet Again, but the second she opened her mouth, it dawned on her that she did not know the entire thing, just about half of the chorus. She pivoted to another similar song with Daisy Bell and then in an entirely different direction with a few of her favorite vocal synthesizer tunes, a few of which she had memorized in half-mangled Japanese and then another few that were in English. Halfway through a high note, she noticed with awe that a few animals had taken notice of her singing. A few beady-eyed birds, a raccoon (who looked familiar, maybe from her battle the previous night), and two deer- scratch that, upon closer inspection it was one deer with a head at each end and no backside- stood by the clearing watching her go. So this was what it felt like to be a Disney princess... or, really, less of a Disney princess and more of a Disney forest hermit.
"Thank you for coming out tonight," she said, and then she realized a moment later than her subconscious that night had fallen. The animals scattered when she sat down to take a short rest, and suddenly her motivation, momentarily buffed by the presence of actual tangible beings other than herself, was mostly gone.
A bit more walking from the art clearing yielded yet another cave, and a peek inside the cave, past the waterfall that hid its entrance, yielded yet another disappointment. This one at least had the additional security of both a few large boulders and the waterfall, the flow sound of which changed when someone passed through it, and so she accepted that there were too many caves to find that cave easily and laid down to see if her performance earlier that day would bear fruit. It didn't. In fact, if she dreamed at all, she didn't remember it.
DAY 4: THE INTRUDER
Sarah was hungry. Not eat-your-own-leg hungry, but hungrier than she had been for, what, weeks? Months? It had been a little over 24 hours since her last meal, and that last meal in question was coffee-spiked all-day breakfast food out of a dumpster, so not exactly the sort of soul-nourishing thing she needed for a lite survivalist lifestyle. She beat the sun into the town proper and glanced tentatively at the diner, which made her stomach drop and alleviated the hunger a little as a result.
It was difficult to both walk casually into town and constantly dart behind lampposts and buildings to avoid the gazes of the citizens, especially with no destination in sight. After who-knows-how-many minutes of Red Light, Green Light, Sarah's eyes fell upon a mansion on a hill in the distance, and, using a technique no doubt more common in Elmore than here, she ducked behind one building far from the mansion and popped out from behind another building closer to it. One or two short fence hops later she stood before the mansion, staring up at a window that hung open just a crack, wondering what sorts of food the pantry of a place like this might have in store.
On one hand, this was the wrong house to come to for someone like her who was not a fan of taxidermy or getting lost; on the other hand, this was the wrong universe to come to for someone like her who was not a fan of taxidermy or getting lost. With a deep breath and all of her mild-hunger-fueled athleticism, she used the rope from the van to lasso the latch of the open window, used a combination of a few lucky footholds and her height to ascend the side of the house, and pulled herself over the threshold into what she soon realized was a very occupied bedroom. Her eyes met the occupant's eyes. She couldn't tell who it was- their eyes were the only things visible in a field of pitch black.
"Who-" said a youthful voice from the direction of the other two eyeballs.
"You're dreaming," said Sarah, darting for the bedroom door. As soon as probably-cifica (whose identity Sarah was really making an educated guess about) saw Sarah's unusual silhouette in the doorway, she must have figured the dream explanation was more likely than an actual giant ice cream cone in her house, because she didn't attempt to make chase. The pantry was easy enough to find (perhaps the family had more than one?) and, after spraying edible gold dust on the security cameras, Sarah made off through a garbage chute with a whole roast-ready duck, a pint of caviar-flavored frozen yogurt, and a few bags of imported chips with a fancy French name she couldn't read.
She took a different route back to the cave this time and noticed a few footprints that weren't hers. A clearing with several suspicious, near-hidden pit traps caught her eye, and she made sure to watch her step.
DAY 5: THE OTHER INTRUDER
What time was it? She didn't know for sure, and there was no sunlight in the little muddy crevasse she had made for herself between two easily-pushed boulders. She shoved another chip into her mouth and chewed quietly. The good thing about chips was they could be eaten at breakfast, lunch, or dinner, as well as between meals as a snack, so it didn't really matter what time it was.
Why was she huddled up? Well, only a few hours earlier a set of footsteps had echoed outside- and then inside- the cave, and she had taken measures to hide herself from prying eyes. It had apparently worked. The intruder was deterred, right? Maybe it was an animal. Maybe it was a person. What if somebody owned this cave and she was just a trespasser?
It was like the universe responding to her thoughts when the sound of the waterfall changed. It didn't go back to normal, either. Someone was sitting in the flow, and they weren't leaving. Why would anybody do that? To train for a big battle? To meditate (for a big battle)? Nah, unlikely. She poked her head up from behind one muddy boulder and snuffed a near-gasp with her hands. The person (or not a person?) meditating (or not meditating?) in the waterfall was three-dimensional. No, no, not just that, she recognized the back of his head. A sense of loneliness she didn't even know she was swamped with crumbled around her as she stepped up to him.
"Rob?" she asked. He was repeating something incoherently to himself and apparently didn't hear her over the sound of the rushing water. That was alright. She reached out in what was supposed to be a friendly pat on the shoulder, but the force of the falling water made it really more of a slap...
She didn't have time to cover her ears before he shrieked so loud there was a mini-earthquake inside the cave and darted off into the distance. She wasn't planning to follow him, really, at least not until she had the chance to clean off the mud and get out of her two-item cosplay, but her eyes fell on the crowbar that had fallen from his backpack in his confusion, and she suddenly had a conversational 'in'. That was always the goal when getting to know people. Then again, if you were desperate enough for interaction, you could fabricate an 'in' from practically anything, like entering a conversation about grades with a, "woah, we could be study buddies! Who knows? it might turn into something more." That one hadn't worked. What was she doing even thinking about this? She needed to get the crowbar back to Rob!
Thankfully, the waterfall was almost like a 5-second shower, and she only needed to stand in it for a second to get most of the mud (and a bit of herself) off. There were wet footprints in the forest dirt for her to follow. "Who knows?" she said to herself, or to nobody in particular. "Maybe this could be the start of a great friendship."
Several weeks on, Sarah still didn't know if what they had was great or a friendship, but it sure helped the existential dread to think of it that way. She looked down at the tapes and thought to herself, no looking back, no looking back, no more looking back.

Is It Really THAT Bad?
Tumblr media
Pixar was on quite the winning streak for most of its existence. From the very first Toy Story in 1995 up through Toy Story 3 in 2010, they built up an image of producing incredible, emotional animated features that really redefined the medium. Ratatouille, WALL-E, Finding Nemo, Monsters, Inc., Up… Sure, sometimes they’d release something like Cars or A Bug’s Life that wasn’t praised quite to the high heavens, but you’d be hard pressed to find anyone who would call the movies outright bad. But then, in 2011, Pixar’s home run streak came to a screeching halt as Cars 2 pumped those brakes hard on their endless victory with critics.
Tumblr media
Cars isn’t the most beloved property to begin with, criticized for its generic plot and clunky worldbuilding, though at least it’s cute, endearing, and fun for kids. It’s absolutely not anything the world was hankering for a sequel for, but John Lasseter is quite skilled at forcing unwanted things on others. The Cars franchise is his pet project, so he pushed this right on through, and Disney was probably not inclined to say no to him considering the merch sales from the first movie (though it’s not like a ‘no’ ever stopped Lasseter before). What came from this was the only Pixar film to ever be a complete critical dud, Lasseter deciding to step away from the directing chair, and the fans and even the sequel pretending that this film absolutely never happened.
There hasn’t really been much of a reappraisal of this film over the years, mostly because that means you have to suffer through 90 minutes of Larry the Cable Guy (a fate reserved only for the most wicked sinners in the deepest bowels of Hell), but I mean really, even if it’s not great it’s still a Pixar movie! Is it really that bad? Well, fasten your seatbelts because it’s gonna be a bumpy ride as I try and elaborate on this utterly bonkers kid film.
THE GOOD
Yes, forget what Mr. Enter or the Nostalgia Critic told you, there is some good stuff here.
If there is one thing in this movie that is completely, unironically amazing, it’s the settings. We’re kind of on a world tour here, going to all these beautiful new locations that are animated with a level of detail and beauty that’s almost insane for a movie about talking cars. This isn’t too surprising, as the first film was rather gorgeous as well when we got to explore around Radiator Springs, but this is a whole new level.
Tumblr media
But if we’re talking in a somewhat ironic sense, the absolute biggest quality this film has is how completely and utterly batshit insane it is when you get right down to it. This seriously feels like the sort of film where absolutely no one gave a shit in the best way possible, and it leads to an absolute goldmine of ludicrousness.
This of course starts with the fact this is a spy thriller WITH FUCKING CARS. We have Jason Isaacs and Bruce Campbell cameoing as spies… and then we get to see the former’s ground-up corpse onscreen, and we get to watch the latter be tortured and brutally executed! Yes, this family film has a body count, and it doesn’t even stop there, as plenty of bad guys get crushed, shot at, blown up… And that’s not even getting into the fact the third act is about stopping the assassination of Lightning McQueen, which also features Mater having a bomb strapped to him! Literally who the fuck thought of this?
Tumblr media
And then there’s some of the absurd worldbuilding, which includes the Queen of England being a car and the actual fucking Pope appearing as a sentient Popemobile. This, along with Mater confirming that Catholicism is real, raises so many questions you’ve likely seen brought up many times before, not the least of which is how the crucifixion of Jesus Chrysler went, were there Crusades and an Inquisition, and are there car Chick Tracts in this universe? Cars have bathrooms, cars eat wasabi, cars drink water, planes and boats and trains are all sentient as well… The more and more they establish new things, the less and less anything about this world makes sense, and the more it feels like they just came up with a regular human spy thriller and just slapped cars onto every character. But hey, you get to see a car do karate, and that is genuinely, hilariously absurd.
Tumblr media
Oh, yeah, and they essentially give Sally a foot fetish. I’m not fucking kidding.
THE BAD
Mater. Just… Mater.
Tumblr media
Mater is a character best enjoyed in small doses; he wasn’t incredibly overbearing in the first film, after all. But apparently Lasseter really thought the world wanted this character to be the star of his own show. Leave it to a sex offender to think Larry the Cable Guy is funny enough to headline a major motion picture. Mater is just plain unfunny in this film, and what’s worse, he’s annoying. He getsin a few good scenes here and there, maybe a chuckle or two, but those moments are few and far between, buried under an avalanche of cringe. He’s an absolute idiot and a hindrance to everyone around him, which could lead to some really good comedy a la Johnny English or Naked Gun if written better.
It’s not written better. The two main spies, Finn McMissile and Holley Shiftwell, just completely and utterly believe Mater is a spy right up until the third act, never questioning anything as he bumbles through every single mission. Sure, they always end up succeeding, but still! It’s absurd they actually ever thought Mater was legitimate for even a moment, because he did nothing but jeopardize them at every turn. And that’s not even getting in to how Mater is a
Tumblr media
Yes, Mater starts the movie getting all mopey and sad because Lightning wants to go out with his girlfriend and not have Mater third wheel. Then Mater inserts himself into Lightning’s pit crew, costs him his first race, and generally just mopes around about how much an incompetent boob everyone thinks he is. It’s even worse because, despite Mater demonstrably being a hindrance to his friends, the narrative bends over backwards to exonerate him, leading to an extremely cringeworthy segment at the end where Lightning chases down Mater, spouts the most homoerotic apologies you’ll ever hear from a talking car, and essentially says that if people don’t like Mater, that’s their problem and they’re the ones who need to change. Not the best message to send to kids, mind you.
And of course there’s how Mater’s spy plot distracts from the racing. You know, the thing this franchise built its image on. I get that second films like to mix things up and try new things, see what works and what doesn’t while a franchise isn’t fully established—it’s led to great films like Freddy’s Revenge, Gremlins 2,  and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom—but I really don’t think “Violent spy thriller” was the right direction to take the cartoonish and goofy world of Cars. Yes, it’s absolutely hilarious seeing cars brutally murdered, a menacing evil German Bond villain car, and the attempted assassination of Owen Wilson via death ray and, when that fails, terrorist attack… But there’s really no denying that they’re kind of going way too far out there, and these aren’t really concepts the originals fans or even the target audience of this film are going to gel with.
The rancid, rotten cherry on top is how this film has what would become the Disney standard a few years down the road: The twist villain. No, the legitimately creepy and intimidating German doctor is not our big bad, it’s a villain who was hidden in plain sight the whole movie and who is both completely obviously the villain and also nonsensically the villain. Their entire motivation doesn’t make a lick of sense, as they essentially funneled all their resources into creating an alternate energy that they were planning to sabotage to force everyone to rely on oil… oil they already had in the first place. And to this end, the villain decided the best course of action is to publicly assassinate popular racers using this alternate energy to give it a bad name. Worst of all, this stupid twist villain utterly wastes Eddie Izzard. It’s so bad that Bellwether, Hans, and Evelyn Deavor all look better and more interesting in comparison.
IS IT REALLY THAT BAD?
Ok, yes, this movie is bad. Or more accurately, it’s not good. But after hearing this movie described as some sort of crime against humanity for so long, I was kind of surprised to find it was kind of enjoyable?
Yes, Mater is annoying and the plot is filled with nonsense, but there’s just so much insanity, absurdity, and “what the fuck” moments that it’s kind of endearing. It very much feels like the spiritual successor to Freddie as F.R0.7., one of my favorite animated films of all time, and while it never quite reaches those levels of enjoyable insanity, it’s hard to deny there is a bit of that Pixar charm keeping this from being unwatchably bad.
Currently it sits at a 6.2 on IMDB, and, yeah, that’s way too high. This is a 5.2 at highest, and I’d even go as low as 4. But I definitely think this film is definitely “so bad it’s good” as opposed to the just plain bad I’ve heard reviewers parrot for the past decade or so. It could be a good, if somewhat misguided, film to ease kids into the spy thriller genre, and at any rate it’s not really ever boring. So long as you can at least kind of tolerate Mater’s stupid antics and how the universe seems to go out of its way to suck his dick, this one’s not the worst thing to put on. If nothing else, it’s worth a watch for morbid curiosity alone.
Really, it feels more like one of those “Mater’s Tall Tales” short segments stretched to feature length than anything else... which probably explains why it isn’t canon. This whole movie is just a bullshit yarn spun by Mater to impress tourists! It all makes too much sense, guess I can just crank that score up to a 10/10 now.

Professional Ceiling Light Fixtures Installation Procedures
Ceiling lighting is an essential element for creating mood, function and look in any place. It does not matter whether it is modern house, office or a commercial house; ceiling lights if installed well can change the whole look and ambience of a house. Many people might want to attempt living room ceiling light fitting on their own, however, professional ceiling light installation is the safest, most cost-effective and to all safety and electrical standards. This article aims to provide the perspective on professional ceiling light installation service including the planning stage and the last touch of the installation process.
Importance of Professional Ceiling Light Installation
Safety Consideration
One key factor that forces individuals in need of light installation fixtures to seek professional services is the entire notion of safety. Erecting these electrical wires, circuits and light brackets often needs a little extra work in making sure that each piece is installed properly. Faulty installation may cause electrical shorts, fires, or even injure a person. This is because they know how to deal with all these risks. For example, all wires will be grounded as required, all connections will be tight and the entire installation will be within the safety codes.
Electrical code compliance is emphasized under this section
Electrical codes are present in every part of the world, and these codes are always observed regardless of the extent of electrical installation works, such as the installation of central ceiling lights. These codes are common to the professional electrical installers and they do comply with the installation of your system with such regulations. This is crucial especially when carrying out the sale of the property or doing renovations as any faults with the electrical work done will cause problems during the inspection.
Quality and longevity is another advantage of the professional installation of ceiling lights
With the installation properly handled, it becomes a problem-free job that is perfectly addressing the mounting of the fixtures with assured electric connections as well. This extends the shelf life of the installation hence fewer chances of occurrence of flickering, loose connection or other related problems that may come as a result of poor DIY installations.
There are ceiling lights that one can find in the market and these also come with several options of style and use. When it comes to lighting, it is very critical to select the right fixture as per the architecture and lighting requirements of the particular area.
Chandeliers
They are light fittings that are comprised of several illuminated branches and are used for decorative purposes inside the installation. These are used primarily used in dining rooms, entryways, and living rooms which have taller ceilings. It is always advisable that an electrician be the one to hang these weighty light fittings as this decreases the chances of them falling and also causing an electrical fault.
Recessed Lighting
Recessed lighting, or downlights, is almost alwaysset within the ceiling so as to blend in thus making the entire structure more appealing. These fittings are especially great when accompanied by ambient lighting, especially in living rooms, kitchens and even bathrooms. Installation of recessed lights needs a professional because they have to be perfectly fitted into cutouts and wired carefully to prevent any damage to the ceiling and also help the lights function properly.
Flush Mount and Semi-Flush Mount Lights
Flush mount lights are as the name suggests directly mounted onto the ceiling with no back-drop and semi-flush mounts retain some pendants, low down mounts some distance from the ceiling. This is common with spaces bounded by low hived ceiling tiles such as bedrooms and corridors. Professionals oversee the installation of these lights, providing good fastening and even light discharge in the space.
Pendant Lights
A pendant light is a lighting fixture that is hung from the ceiling usually by chains or stiff rods usually placed over kitchen counters, over tables, or over doorways. A professional is crucial in doing this because getting the correct suspension and proper placement of the electrical connections for pendants is very essential.
The Installation Process
Assessment and Planning
Successful installation of ceiling lights begins with examination of the space where the lights will be fixed and outlining the light distribution. For example, in this particular instance, the depth is considering the height of the ceiling, the size of the due room, the aim of lighting fixtures and if there is some wiring. At this point, there may also be questions about the kind of fittings you would want, and the amount of lighting needed for various areas.
Electrical Wiring Preparation
Once again, an electrician will need to take a look at the wires that have been supplied or if there aren't any, put in new cables in those available. This could require installing wires along the ceilings, and making sure that the new fixtures do not exceed the available electrical load. It is better for an expert to do this since it may cause overload, shorts or malfunctions if wrong wires are connected or inappropriately done.
Installation of Mounting Boxes
For the majority of ceiling light fittings, there is a need for a mounting box to hold the fitting firmly in position. The professional will fix a ceiling box that is rated because of the weight of the expected fixture. At times it is very critical when mounting light fixtures to consider a strong ceiling support especially for heavy fitting like chandeliers in order to avert accidents.
Connecting the Fixture
Having fastened all the wires and mounted the box for the fixture position will, the last step of the process will be to fix the light. It includes a wire nut for splicing the fixture wires and the power supply wires, provision for grounding the fixture, and mounting the fixture onto the ceiling box. A highly skilled personnel will be in charge of insulating the connections to eliminate any chances of loosed wires or exposed connections which may create great danger.
Testing and Adjustments
The last step is prior to the completion of the electrical contractor works wherein each electrician needs to, prior to final handover of works, to as well test the completed to this stage fixture. It encompasses checking whether the fixture properly lights up, switching operations, and checking the physical mounting of the fixture. Where warranted, changes will be made to the height, position, orientation or other attributes of the fixture.
Benefits of Hiring Professional Electricians
Expertise and Experience
Nairobi ceiling light installation professionals are outstanding since they can be able to install almost all types of ceiling lights, be them flush mounts or elaborate chandeliers. Their proficiency minimizes the chance of having to repeat the same installation because the installation has been performed in an erroneous way which might lead to problems in the future.
Time-saving
Putting up of ceiling lights can prove to be a tedious task especially to those who are new to it. The professional will finish their work in record time and in an orderly manner to ensure that your activities are disturbed very little.
Warranty and insurance
Most licensed electricians give a warranty for the services rendered and thus there will be no extra charges in case there are problems with the installation. In addition to that, legitimate electricians do have liability insurance so that there is coverage for any damages or injury that occur due to the installation.
Aesthetics and customization
Professionals are able not only to guarantee the safety of the installations but also help bring out the desired look of the space. They shall guide you on where to place the lights, what type you should buy and what the design of the lighting should be that your room is enhanced further by the lighting.
Cost of Professional Ceiling Light Installation
The pricing of professional installation of ceiling lights differs with the projects scope, type of fixtures to be put up and the rate charged by the electrician. For instance in Dubai, one can expect prices between AED 150 and AED 500 per fixture depending on the type of light, how easy it is to reach, and how complicated the wiring is. More of these costs can be incurred when doing more elaborate installations or when using fixtures at the higher end.
Conclusion
Ceiling light installation comes with many advantages, including the risk management and the adherence to electrical code of the residential space that is used for general purposes. The case is the same whether there are chandeliers or recessed lights or pendants; a qualified electrician will guarantee the work is done as required. When electric devices are installed in a proper manner, they not only make one feel more comfortable but also make sure that ceiling lights will serve their purpose longer, if not forever.

Can You Install Artificial Grass By Yourself?
Tumblr media
Are you curious about the benefits of artificial lawn for your house? Like you, a lot of homeowners are drawn to it by all of its benefits. Nonetheless, we recognize that financial limitations may be a challenge when organizing home improvements. "Is it possible for me to install synthetic turf on my own?" is probably what you're wondering. Yes, without a doubt! One excellent approach to save money is to install artificial turf yourself. However, it's crucial to think about your suitability for the job. Even though going the DIY approach can save you money, it does take work and effort. You don't need to worry—we'll help you out the entire time! If you want to know about Artificial Grass Prices, check out Artificial Grass GB!
1. Calculate the Project Area and Select the Turf:
By precisely measuring the area of your project, you can select the turf and make sure you have enough rolls. Turf rolls can be cut to the length you choose; they are usually 15 feet wide. In order to determine your roll arrangement, this step is essential.
2. Make Your Project's Blueprint:
Create a basic blueprint on graph paper or use a free online CAD tool to plan the layout of your project area. A blueprint is not necessary, but it will aid in organization and guarantee precise measurements.
3. Remove Any Current Grass:
Next, clear your project location of any natural grass, dirt, or sod. This is a labour-intensive process, so think about asking friends or family for assistance and keeping a truck or wheelbarrow nearby. Remember to get rid of any tree roots or sprinkler lines that could cause problems.
4. Setup the Base:
Unload the gravel base after the area is level and clear. Try to cover the whole turf installation area with a 3–5 inch layer of gravel. To divert water flow away from your house, make sure the base is sloping in the opposite direction. To make a smooth, safe surface, add crushed tiny particles after the gravel has been laid.
5. Install and Attach the Turf:
Being cautious not to disturb the crushed particles, roll out the turf on top of the base area. Once the turf is laid out, any indentations that happen at this stage will be apparent. Using a utility knife to cut the grass and glue the seams together, stretch the turf into the base layer and fasten it in place with nails. Make sure there are no trip hazards and that the turf is firmly fastened.
6. Incorporate the Infill:
Infill is the final and most crucial stage. By adding infill, you can offer ballast and weigh down the lawn. Using a seed broadcaster, uniformly distribute your choice of infill material—sand or silica sand. This will keep the turf from having any bumps or uneven patches.
How to Install Artificial Grass Inexpensively:
1. Affordable, High-Grade Synthetic Grass Remnants:
Remaining artificial grass might save a lot of money, depending on the overall area of your project! Used turf remnants from previous projects are offered for sale at a reduced price. Although they come in different sizes, they are usually no bigger than 15′ x 15′.
But bear in mind that synthetic grasses are made using colour lots. This implies that there may be minor colour differences between two independently produced rolls of the same product type. Nonetheless, a lot of do-it-yourselfers have installed leftover parts from various colour lots. The eye is sometimes diverted from the pieces' (quite significant) differences in colour by placing planters or other landscape objects in between them or by installing the individual pieces in different locations.
2. The Key to a Cheap Sub-Base:
Sub-base. What's that? For whom is it necessary? Yes, you do if you're installing artificial grass. Once you've excavated a few inches below the surface and before you install the grass, sub-base is placed where your natural grass was. Its main function is to keep the turf from getting wrinkly due to the natural expansion and contraction of the native soil in your yard.
One of three things occurs in the majority of professional installations: class II road base, decomposed granite, or crushed miscellaneous base (CMB).
Because it can provide a consistently level surface and has better drainage than the other two, decomposed granite is regarded as the best of the three. For example, installing greens requires a more durable and effective decomposed granite sub-base. The cost of decomposed granite is a drawback.
Is a workaround possible? Generally, artificial grass performs well and lasts a long time when only a little quantity of decomposed granite is used. In actuality, for optimal drainage and overall function, only the upper few inches of the sub-base must be formed of decomposed granite. This implies you can lay a few inches of decomposed granite on the surface after filling the majority of the excavated area with low-cost class II or CMB. This will result in fair results and a significant cost reduction.
Having said that, we never advise compromising on the decomposed granite subbase for some installations. This plan isn't going to be effective if your yard already has drainage problems or receives a lot of rainfall. For further advice, make sure to go over the specifics of your project with professional experts.
3. The Hack for the Seaming Method:
When installing artificial grass, you'll probably need to cut and sew together many sections of turf. The most common tools used for this are nails, seaming glue, and seaming tape. Although it is the most costly approach, this one is thought to be the safest and most dependable. While seaming tape and glue may not seem like much money for a modest installation, they can add up quickly for bigger ones.
The less expensive option? Simply apply a lot of nails. Though not quite as secure, this seaming technique is perfectly workable for certain applications. We only advise this technique if your grass won't see a lot of foot traffic because nails can and frequently do come away with time and enough foot traffic. A box or two of cheap 5-inch nails can work wonders for a sizable installation area that won't see much foot activity.

Happy 'Murica day I guess.
I can't remember a time when there's been nothing but fireworks going off since the first, if not before. I know I told freak out dog after her most destructive time, when I was the only human at the house because someone else was cleaning up the Life Ruiner's mess, that one of us was not going to be there by the next one. Turned out neither of us were but we were thinking her.
What ever is going on with my back, maybe it's just sciatica, is moving the sore spot. It's like more towards the middle if that makes any sense.
I am getting more and more used to being able to leave my things out in the living room and knowing it will still be there exactly as I left it when I come back.
But it so far looks like the tiny paper fasteners I wanted for the paper Ineffable husbands are gone, unless they're in one of the collage supply bins I haven't sorted yet. Or in the closet which I might start getting in to today.
So long time listeners there will be a decent GTFO sale with Barbies and G1 Monster High reroots and possibly some baldies. Irish Barbie, Hollywood Hair Teresa, the one Whitney doll will go too. The Malibu Sunset crowd will be staying now that I've spent what I've spent on a Francie body.
Or everyone but Francie will go as she's now my one and only Francie. The PJ is a restorative reroot, original color, and it's got me questioning if I want to part with some of the other ivntage mods, like at least the one Living Barbie head I did a restore reroot on as I got a whole one at the estate sale.

Extravaganza of Nappy Sales: Get the Best Diaper Deals Offering Happy Bottoms for Your Little One's
A vast selection of high-quality cloth diapers is available at nappy sale. They place a high value on sourcing sustainably produced and ethically crafted goods, and their choice of brands and products reflects this. They have learned a great deal about all thing’s cloth over the years, including the advantages of wearing cloth diapers for the environment and the economy, in addition to styles, fits, care, and usage.
Tumblr media
Huggies little swimmers have tested every product they carry to guarantee its quality, functionality, and affordability. This implies that they can provide you with sound, knowledgeable guidance.
Baby is Kept Safe and Dry With a Manageable Mess
Disposable diapers keep your baby dry even though they can absorb moisture and expand to nearly five times their original weight. The core lining frequently has gel components in it that are promised to absorb moisture and keep the outer layer dry for nearly hours. Damp skin provides the ideal environment for bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms to grow and thrive.
Your baby's sensitive area stays dry while they wear a diaper, which inhibits the formation of protozoa and other pathogens. The highly absorbent lining of disposable diapers can hold onto moisture for up to five or six times as long as your infant urinates. The design of these diapers allows them to absorb the most moisture while producing the least amount of mess.
Simple to Use and Change Your Babies' Diaper Without Stress
It can be challenging to get your baby to sit still while you put the cloth diaper underneath, as anybody who has tried to put on a cloth diaper for a small child or toddler will attest.
Even if your baby is standing up, you can easily wrap a disposable diaper around it and fasten it at the sides using the Velcro straps. Of course, pant-style diapers are also an option; their convenience of usage has made them extremely popular.
When your kid sleeps through the night in a diaper, you will need to wake up frequently to look for indications of wetness. Not only will this keep you from getting any sleep at all, but every time your kid wakes up, you might have to start the whole bedtime procedure over.

Humane’s Ai Pin is a $700 Smartphone Alternative You Wear All Day
If you’re willing to clip the Ai Pin to your chest, you can talk, gesture, and tap to take photos or summon a powerful virtual assistant.
— November 9, 2023 | Wired.Com
For months, an odd sight has intrigued a San Francisco cop regularly stationed outside the downtown offices of the startup Humane. Out of its door have streamed employees with a small, square device pinned to their chests, not unlike the officer’s bulkier, department-issued body-worn camera. “Been wondering what those are,” the officer said when WIRED visited the company last week.
Today, the wondering about Humane’s gadget is over. The company is opening up about its high-tech device designed to be fastened to a shirt or blouse—a fit that Humane hopes can become as accepted among people who aren’t sworn officers as sporting wireless earbuds or smartwatches.
Humane’s device, called the Ai Pin, can take photos and send texts, uses a laser to project a visual interface onto a person’s palm, and comes with a virtual assistant that can be as sharp as ChatGPT. By always being ready to search the web and communicate, it is supposed to quash dependency on smartphones.
The Ai Pin goes on sale November 16 in the US starting at $699, plus $24 monthly for unlimited calling, texting, and data through T-Mobile. Humane revealed the device’s look and basic functions, including web search and object identification, at the TED conference and in a Paris fashion week runway show earlier this year. In addition to announcing pricing and availability today, the company released new details about the Pin’s software and how exactly a laser inside the device turns a person’s hand into a screen. Orders will start shipping in early 2024.
The Pin is one of the first of many wearable devices expected to launch in coming months and years that are built around the kind of ChatGPT-like AI services now used by over 100 million people each week. Famed Apple designer Jony Ive is reportedly among the competition.
Whether any of them can become socially acceptable or withstand the scrutiny of the fashion police is a major question. Members of a Discord group created by Humane for its fans can’t wait to buy their Pins. But people consulted by WIRED who have worked on edgy wearable hardware, including augmented reality glasses, view the Pin as more the latest toy for gadget enthusiasts than a device set to establish a new norm for personal technology.
It’s also too early to tell whether Humane’s hope that the Pin can help people to live more in the moment will prove true, or whether it will simply provide a new way to be unhealthily obsessed with technology.
Constant Companion
Humane CEO Bethany Bongiorno is confident of the Pin’s mass appeal, calling it the world’s first contextual computer. “AI now has become something that everyone is curious about and really wants to know how it’s going to change their life,” she says. “We’re offering the first opportunity to bring it with you everywhere. It’s really touching people from every background, every age group, globally, in terms of what we’re feeling and seeing in feedback.”
When Bongiorno and her husband, Imran Chaudhri, founded Humane in 2018 after long spans working on hardware design and software engineering at Apple, they set strict parameters for their product. It needed to be a standalone device connected directly to the cell network, transparent about when it's recording, and not always listening for wake words like “Hey Siri” or “OK Google” as smart speakers and some phones do. And the whole package should be affordable. “That really set the tone for where we are today,” Bongiorno says.
Humane’s founders view previous wearable devices like smart glasses and AR headsets as barriers to human connection. The Pin is intended to be less invasive, though just as capable, and something people can comfortably wear all day without ruining their hairdo. “We want to have powerful compute with us at all times, and that's really what it's about,” says Chaudhri, the company’s president and chairman. “We want access to more knowledge, more information. We just want it in a way that allows us to remain present.”
The startup has raised $230 million in funding, including $100 million announced in March reportedly valuing it at $850 million. Humane’s investors include OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, who holds the largest outside stake at nearly 15 percent; Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff; Microsoft; and the venture arms of LG, Volvo, and Qualcomm.
After ordering a Pin, buyers log in to a website, Humane.center, to sync their contacts and sign up for extra services like music. They use the Pin’s camera to scan a code shipped with the device to associate it to that online account, where recordings, photos, and histories of calls and messages are accessible. Users’ data won’t be used to train AI systems, Humane says.
Unmissable Wearable
With its housing carved from a single chunk of aluminum, Humane’s device is closer to a brooch, a tin of mints, or a cigarette packet clipped in half than the sleeker items that adorn politicians’ lapels or baseball fans’ caps. No one standing a distance away is going to miss it. Chaudhri says the name “Pin” is meant more as a metaphor to evoke the “sentiment of attaching it to your clothing” than as a physical descriptor.
To put on the Ai Pin involves placing a magnetic battery pack on the inside of a shirt or other piece of clothing, and letting a magnet on the Pin itself hold the system in place. It’s altogether about 55 grams, or 2 ounces, nearly the weight of a tennis ball. People with pacemakers should consult their doctors about potential magnetic interference, Chaudhri says.
A clip sold separately makes it possible to attach the Pin to thicker clothing or bag straps, and a lighter-weight magnet included with the device works for silky outfits or workout gear.
Photography was not allowed during WIRED’s visit to Humane, and the company didn’t provide WIRED a Pin to try. But employees provided several demonstrations of key functions.
Chaudhri says, while sporting his Pin on a warm jacket, that he has worn it from rise until bedtime each day for over a year. He says it can hold up under rigorous activity, noting that he’s been biking with it. In testing, the Pin has held firm during running and jumping, he says, and it has been drop tested from a meter and a half on a variety of surfaces.
The Pin comes in three colors that have fancy names but are essentially black all around, black with silver edges, and white with silver edges. The silver-bordered options are priced at $799. Colorful plastic cases dubbed “shields,” sold separately, can add more flair to edge of the Pin. Bongiorno says they allow the devices to be more durable when dropped, which may be a big fear for potential buyers. “I asked Imran to make those for me,” Bongiorno says, describing herself as clumsy.
The Ai Pin’s most distinctive features reside in the curved top of the device, which houses an ultrawide camera, light and depth detectors, and a laser projector. Humane realized when testing that without that curve, a camera resting on people’s chests would mostly be pointing to the sky. “Everyone's built differently, and the optics need to actually be angled downward to account for the different shapes,” Chaudhri says.
Google learned a similar lesson in 2018 after it launched Google Clips, a body-worn camera that used algorithms to automatically snap photos. Female users tended to end up with an abundance of cloud shots when they intended to record what was in front of them, because the device was not designed to account for bodies with breasts, according to a person familiar with the findings. Google did not respond to a request for comment on the now discontinued gadget.
Like Clips and Meta’s smart glasses, Humane’s Pin has a light that indicates to people nearby when the microphone or camera is activated. Chaudhri says this “trust light” is designed such that if it was ever tampered with the device would become inoperable, so it can’t be used for spying.
Candid Camera
The Pin is controlled by taps, hand gestures, and voice commands. A double tap with two fingers on the touchpad on the front of the device snaps photos. The same double-tap and then holding that spot records video, but video capability won’t launch until a software update in early 2024
Tapping the Pin and then moving a palm into its field of view activates its laser, which projects images and text onto a user’s hand at a wavelength that produces a blueish-green tinge, a 720p-resolution system Humane calls a Laser Ink Display. Tilting the hand navigates between displayed options and a swatting gesture swipes to a different menu. Users “click” on an option by tapping their thumb and index finger together and close their hand briefly to return to a home screen. Chaudhri says controlling the projection is limited to one hand to keep it quick and to prevent the other hand from getting in the way of the projector.
The voice assistant, which Humane names Ai Mic, draws on multiple large language models, including from ChatGPT developer OpenAI. Users tap and hold the Pin to talk to Ai Mic and can ask similar questions to those handled by generative AI chatbots or voice assistants like Alexa and Siri, such as queries about current or historical events, requests for help with language translations, and to order up poems.
One demonstration WIRED saw involved asking Ai Mic to “play songs written but not performed by Prince.” It correctly cued up “Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinéad O’Connor, an experience powered by the streaming service Tidal, which requires paid subscription.
Humane expects to add navigation and shopping capabilities over time and also to open up the device to developers to build apps, Bongiorno says.
The Pin runs on Google’s open source Android operating system, so it should be relatively easy for developers to work with, though Humane has added a number of customizations to the OS. Some companies who have tried to develop Android devices in the past have encountered challenges due to Google policies that require it to favor the search giant’s apps. Asked whether Humane was limited in any way through its use of Android, Chaudhri says Humane is excited to be partnering with Google.
Ken Kocienda, Humane’s head of product engineering, who worked on touchscreen typing and autocorrect for Apple’s first iPhone, says he often talks to Ai Mic over breakfast with his wife and at red lights on his drive home as questions pop into mind. “It keeps you in the moment with the people you are with and it feels really lightweight and fun,” he says. About 100 of Humane's 260 or so employees worked at Apple at some point, according to LinkedIn profiles.
Chaudhri says while the Pin supports Bluetooth headphones, its built-in speakers are designed to create a bubble of sound around the user that provides an intimate experience when turned down low. “People in the office use it and we can’t really tell,” he says. A voice call demonstrated to WIRED between Kocienda and Bongiorno’s phone sounded clear on his Pin.
Photos taken with the Pin’s 13-megapixel camera, and automatically enhanced by its algorithms, can be previewed using the palm-top Laser Ink Display. Images appear grainy, and the palm makes for a bumpy and creased screen, but the feature provides a way to check whether a photo shot from the chest captured the correct subject. Users can’t get Ai Mic to post the snaps to Instagram for now, though Humane hopes to partner with the social media service at some point.
From early next year, the Pin’s camera will power an AI calorie counting feature. A Humane staffer showed how the Pin could track the amount of protein someone consumed throughout the day by capturing bowls of almonds and potentially other food they ate.
The Pin comes with a phone number and also supports international roaming, GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Depending on how people end up using the device, Humane could charge additional fees for “capacity,” Chaudhri says. Some services such as unlimited web searches through Ai Mic and unlimited media storage on Microsoft’s cloud are free.
Chaudhri wouldn’t say how long the Pin’s battery pack lasts, but it ships with two of them and he encourages users to keep the spare around in the provided portable charging case for all-day power. The Pin also ships with a proprietary wireless charging pad and an accompanying USB-C charging brick and cable.
Still Looking
Mark Lucovsky, a former software executive who oversaw augmented reality projects at Google and Meta, gives Humane credit for not creating another pair of smart glasses. But he worries that finding a Pin design that a wide range of people find wearable or fashionable will take considerable time.
Humane’s emphasis on privacy also could dull interest in the Pin by shutting off potentially groundbreaking features, Lucovsky says. If the device’s camera was always actively analyzing a person’s surroundings, it could help people find their misplaced keys or remind them while at the store whether there are eggs left in the fridge at home. “We already have chatbots available through phones,” he says. “What’s the unexpected compelling value you get from your Pin? I don’t think we’ve seen that yet. But I’m excited to watch this evolve.”
Bongiorno and Chaudhri say they are techno-realists as much as they are techno-optimists. They don’t expect the Pin to entirely sideline smartphones and recognize that the Pin could raise novel ethical questions. “We talk about not only the amazing, potentially potential upsides, but also what can go wrong,” Chaudhri says, declining to offer a breakdown of time spent using his phone compared to the Pin.
The Humane founders say they haven’t tried any other AI-first gadgets, but that it’s a positive sign they are not alone on the frontier. They have talked about developing integrations for the Pin for homes with LG and for cars with Volvo. For now, anyone wanting to give Humane’s vision of the future a try will have to settle for looking a bit more like a cop.
