“What do you mean you are good at Wii Sports announcer impressions?” I laughed. Robby, Miguel, Eli, Sam, and I were sitting outside on our lunch break. Somehow, we started talking about Wii Sports, specifically losing to Mr. Level 900, Matt, and how Robby claims to have the best announcer impression.

“I mean what I said,” he responded. “I feel like a lot of people can do it.”

“Please, enlighten me,” I pressured, gesturing with my hands for him to continue. “I’m calling bull.”

“Eagle,” he said in the exact voice. Sam and I started laughing, but Miguel and Eil also started talking in the same voice.

“Nice strike!” Eli said with a fake enthusiastic smile and a thumbs up.

“Deuce!” Miguel laughed as he could not keep a straight face.

“You should say something else in the same voice!” I said leaning into Robby. “I don’t trust it until you say something else in the same voice.”

He stopped for a second as everyone else kept saying common phrases from the game. He threw his arm over my shoulder and leaned in, whispering, “Well, what do you want me to say?”

“I don’t know,” I laughed again, feeling pressured to come up with something for him to say. “Tell me a joke in that voice.”

“Ok, umm,” he hesitated before clearing his throat, getting into the voice. “How can you tell if an eagle has an identity crisis?”

“What the fuck?” Eli jumped in and suddenly everyone else was quiet and listening intently.

“They watch you like a hawk,” Robby responded with a slight voice crack to keep himself from laughing.

Wii Sports Resort's CPU Miis consisted of the original 60 from Wii Sports, along with an additional 40 new to Wii Sports Resort. Reading the Mii data files for the 40 newcomer CPU Miis from Wii Sports Resort shows that their Mii names are set to their internal values, from 60 to 99. This is unlike the returning Miis that came from Wii Sports, in which their names are their Japanese names.

The only two exceptions to the numbered names in the new Wii Sports Resort Miis is Miguel (first image), the character who flies the guide plane in Island Flyover. His name is "70 ガイドさん", which translates to "70 Guide-san". The 70 is his internal ID value, and the "Guide-san" is likely because he is the guide for Island Flyover.

The other exception is Gwen (second image), the character who takes photos of the player during the Skydiving game. Her internal Mii name is "90 ガイド" which translates to "90 Guide". The 90 is her internal ID value, and the "Guide" is from her role in the Skydiving game.

My Top 10 Dua Lipa Songs

Y’all seemed to like my Lorde ranking so I’m back with Dua Lipa. I’ll attempt to rank my favorite songs by her and offer a little (a lot) of commentary along the way. This is my humble opinion. I’d love to hear your thoughts too!

Honorable Mentions:

1) Scared to Be Lonely (with Martin Garrix): The first time I heard Dua Lipa was on this song. And while I wouldn’t hear her other music for another year or so, I was instantly drawn to her deeper vocals. Also that drop is a banger. 

My Top 10:

10) New Love: This song is so flowing and relaxing sounding, but that drum keeps it grounded. Sprinkled with synthy guitars, rushing percussion, and that flickering sound in the background I don’t know what it is but I love it. The vocals soar from a lower gravel to a belting peak. It’s definitely one of her more underrated songs. 

9) Genesis: Poppy and upbeat, this song is like a ray of sunlight. I really like the snapping sounds and that bass picking that ripples throughout the chorus. A metaphor that could come across and insincere is wonderfully genuine, with just enough cheesiness that makes the song all the more fun. 

8) One Kiss (with Calvin Harris): Listening to this song is like drinking a glass of champagne on a disco dance floor. It’s bubbly and makes you want to dance. I just love that little “something ‘bout you-ou-ou-ou,” and “me-e-e.” Sure, the lyrical content isn’t all that deep, but it doesn’t have to be. That grooving beat and Lipa’s delivery sell the song all on their own.

7) IDGAF: This song makes me want to tell off a bitch and then walk away in a pair of eight inch stilettos. It’s not the most lyrically or musically complex, but that’s not the purpose it serves. This song is to shout along to when you’re feeling bitter or need a pick me up. I’d say it’s a guilty pleasure, but I don’t feel guilty at all about loving this song. IDGAF. 

6) New Rules: This song is how I got into Dua Lipa. I came across the music video on YouTube right when it was posted and watched it like twenty times in a row. I then went down the rabbit hole and watched all her music videos. This is a fantastic pop song, and one of the only songs on the radio that I could actually enjoy. The pre-chorus is unforgettable, but y’all already knew that because everyone knows it by heart. 

5) Blow Your Mind (Mwah): The words to describe this song would be in-your-face and unapologetic. This is a strut-down-the-runway kind of song. The chorus is downright infectious and Lipa’s delivery is sassy and engaging. In other songs, I’d hate the whole “mwah” thing, but it works here. 

4) Be The One: The glittery notes in the beginning, the snappy sounds, Lipa’s breezy performance, the light and airy atmosphere make this song. That “will you be mi-i-i-ine” right before the final chorus shows off that lovely grip in her voice. Such a bop. 11/10 would tap my toes to. 

3) Lost In Your Light ft. Miguel: Such a bop. Can I just say that this is the epitome of the perfect bop? Lipa and Miguel have fantastic chemistry on this track, and their voices mesh and harmonize so well. It’s so sunny and bright sounding, like Genesis. 

2) Garden: So much emotion! Damn! I love how all the instrumentals rush though the chorus and the piano throughout the song. Lipa’s vocals really shine in this song. God, she’s so talented.

1) Hotter Than Hell: The vocals though. The buildup though. The lyrics though. The instrumental though, (it kinda sounds like the Wii Sports Resort theme at times, but I’m counting that as a plus.) The pre-chorus though. Lipa’s lower register! Her belting! THE! DROP!!! (One of the only times I’ve genuinely liked a pitch-shifted vocal drop.) It courses through you so easily, it makes you want to dance and sing along. This song is so, so good.
