SUMMARY — wilburs 3 year old gets ill, and it feels like the end of the world

NOTES — angst technically?? lots of fluff, cuddles, etc. girl dad wilbur. OC named Adelia (from my book, except aged down to 3, and his daughter instead of niece !!) mentions of illness, maybe vomiting, and headaches

EXTRA — sorry dadbur has been in my head for days now, i needed to get some drabbles out 🌷🌷

as adelia woke up, next to wilbur (as she got scared in the middle of the night and asked to cuddle with him) her head had started banging.

"daddy," her voice croaked , as she shook the brunette awake. his eyes stirred open, soon warming as he saw the scared look on your smaller girl.

"what's wrong darling?" he whispered, morning voice slightly deeper and croakier, causing him to slightly clear his throat and sit up.

"head hurts," she whines, laying down, head resting on his lap. he felt the burning hot of her forehead, as he ran a hand through her curls. his face had been twisted with worry, as he looked over to the alarm clock, seeing it was 7am. It had just officially become autumn, meaning it was still dark outside.

"let's go get you some juice, maybe it'll help you feel better," he tapped her shoulder softly, as she whined and sat up.

"daddy carry me?" adelia asked, lifting her arms up, as she stood on the edge of the bed. he smiled fondly, picking her up, and almost sobbing when he felt her head tuck into his neck.

"stay awake for me, dede," he muttered against her curls, kissing her head softly, and lightly rocking her on his hip as they walked to the kitchen. the usually talkative girl, was very quiet while being sat on the kitchen counter, watching her beloved dad pour her a small cup of orange juice.

"take a sip of this for me," he whispered lovingly, keeping his voice low as to not harm the girls head more than it already is. she took slow, almost unnoticeable sips, before placing it back on the counter, glass still almost full.

"do you want to have a little bit more for me?" will questioned, walking up to her and stroking her knee softly.

"no thank you daddy," she whispered, eyes closing softly, as her skin had grown pale, showing off the rosy cheeks that had bloomed earlier that morning.

"okay, we'll bring it with us back to bed," he kissed her cheek, picking her up, and resting her on his hip again.

"we watch movie?" adelia asked, laying her head on his shoulder, holding the sippy cup of juice in her hand.

"we can watch a movie, yeah," he smiled, walking back to his room, and placing her softly on his bed, "what movie do you want to watch?"

"hmm," she thought for a minute, making herself comfortable and watching him turn on the tv, "matilda,"

he wordlessly put on the matilda film, before laying next to her, and placing the tv remote on the bedside table.

"cuddle?" adelia said, her voice still slightly scratchy sounding, as she looked up at will, who was slightly sat against the headboard.

"of course, darling," he smiled softly, feeling the urge to cry as she sat herself on his lap, and cuddled into his chest. his heart had warmed, feeling his special girl cuddled up into his pyjama jumper, wrapping his arms around her.

he was always surprised when she had still wanted to cuddle, as most parents say it's just a stage they grow out of at around a year old, however adelia was always ready for cuddles, and so was he.

"daddy, will i feel better soon?" she asked, lifting her head up slightly, now resting on his shoulder/neck bone.

"yes darling, we'll help you get better, don't worry," he kissed her forehead, feeling it now slightly cooled down. the vitamin C had seemed to work, despite the small amount she had drank.

they two had shared small goodnights and i love yous, as they drifted back to sleep, adelia tucked under wills arm.

he has always believed true love was found in romance films on the tv, he never expected it to be found in the little 3 year old angel wrapped in his arms. he had never truly felt at home, until he got a text telling him he was a father of a baby girl. at first, he panicked, but the minute he saw her dirty blonde curls, he knew she would be the most important thing in his life.

despite her being ill, he tugged her almost impossibly closer, knowing the sore throat he'd get once he woke up would be completely worth it, as long as he got to hold her.

I simultaneously look forward to and dread the possible interactions to come with Wilbur's return.

along the lines of the "eggs changing to look like their parents" headcanon, Tallulah slowly looking more and more like Phil the longer Wilbur is gone

in fact, both of Phil's kids not looking like their other parents anymore because they're never around

I just think Tallulah gets to be upset about this. “It’s not Wilbur’s fault” “He’s not a bad dad” “He loves his daughter so much” yes! These are all true! And it’s not his fault! But he’s still not there. And Tallulah has gone through so much and still hasn’t seen him, the one time he was around was the one time she wasn’t, and all she has are letters and “I’m thinking of you always” and things that used to be theirs together, but he’s still not there. She’s waited and she’s been patient and she’s loved him all the same, and he’s still not there. Like yesterday, and the day before, and the day before, from the happy milestones to the traumatic events, he’s still not there.

She knows that it’s not his fault, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s absent. That in and of itself just adds to the sorrow, because she knows why he’s gone, and she’s been told time and time again it doesn’t mean he doesn’t care, she knows this - it doesn’t mean it doesn’t sting, that it doesn’t hurt, that she doesn’t yearn for her father to be there more than anything in the world, and he’s just not there.

So yes, she gets to be upset, and be caustic, and stomp her feet and write bitter messages, and be angry and vitriolic, because she’s a little girl missing her father, who feels things with her whole heart and soul - and that means she gets to feel the ugly parts of it, too.

For those interested in AU with Siren Wilbur and Captain Quackity from the lower post

this AU has quite a rich lore and plot, it is mainly based on psychology and is quite difficult to understand, there are a lot of characters and they all went through a lot of suffering. If I talk about EVERYONE then it would take a VERY long time, but I can talk about the main characters: Techno, Tommy, Wilbur, Sally, Puffy, Quackity.

Everything begins with the kingdom of mermaids and sirens in the Black Sea.

A quick explanation about mermaids and sirens.

Mermaids have the tails of river and lake fish, such as salmon, herring, etc. That is, almost everyone, except predators.

Of course, there are always some cases-exceptions, so sometimes there are mermaids with the tails of predators. Also with sirens, sometimes you can meet a siren with a tail, for example, a goldfish (like Tommy).

Mermaids themselves are smaller than sirens, also dangerous, but mostly weaker.

Sirens are always predators, such as sharks, killer whales, piranhas, etc. (Although piranhas live in fresh water, they still belong to sirens that live in the sea). Sirens can use their voice in hypnosis, have very sharp claws and teeth, they are the strongest creatures in the black sea, so there is racism in the kingdom, where sirens humiliate mermaids.

An interesting point: pairs of sirens and mermaids.

Both sirens and mermaids are very jealous and loyal. They can only have one partner for life (or polyamory - 2 partners for life). That is, when a pair of sirens/mermaids dies, the other dies as well. The only way for one of the partners to survive is to have a child.

I can tell more about lore in other answers and posts, because there is a lot, a lot of information (after all, AU is exists more than a year, I came up with a lot lol)

Now plot & lore.

Technoblade is the eldest son, he is a siren with a white shark tail, and despite the fact that he is older and should be the heir to the crown, he joined the ranks of the knights of the kingdom.

Wilbur is the middle son, has a killer whale tail, he became the heir to the crown, so he has a lot of responsibility and interest in his every action. By himself, Wilbur is quite calm and wise, tries to be fair, but sometimes he breaks down and runs wild.

Tommy, the youngest and last son, he is pretty childish and in refers to things from a positive point of view. Wilbur doesn't always share this, and is more inclined to listen to the advice of Techno and their father Phil.

Tommy and Wilbur are often called the sun and the moon in the kingdom.

Sally is a river mermaid with a salmon tail. She, like other mermaids, unfortunately succumbed to humiliation from sirens and even other "privileged" mermaids. In the course of the story, she became Wilbur's girlfriend, which was greatly disliked by the other mermaids and sirens of the kingdom and eventually killed Sally, but Wilbur was able to survive because he had a child, Fundy/Tallulah, by Sally at the time. (I used to think that they would have a son Fundy, but now I think it would be better if it were Tallulah, because then Fundy would be a human child, and Tallulah would be a siren). But even though Wilbur managed to survive, he began to slowly lose his mind and go wild, due to which Phil had to put Wilbur in the kingdom's prison for a while.

Puffy. She plays quite a role in this story because she is a loyal knight of the kingdom and the best friend of the king and his sons. She is quite wise and compassionate, Puffy plays the role of a psychologist in this story. She is a siren, but I haven't decided what kind of fish her tail will be XD

captain Quackity. A cruel and influential man, he has been hunting sirens and mermaids for a long time. He is not a pirate, he is a hunter.

Pirates and hunters are a little different: pirates do not affect the inhabitants of the seas, they attack other ships, and hunters attack both the inhabitants of the seas and other ships.

after capturing Wilbur, the captain will treat him more gently than the other sirens and mermaids, because this is the first time a blue-blooded person has been on his ship. Despite this, he will still be quite cold towards Wilbur, and will try all kinds of methods to find out as much secret information as possible.

By the way, at the moment when Wilbur is on the hunter ship, Stockholm syndrome will happen and Wilbur will start to think that he loves the captain :(

so now there will be a spoiler for the ending:

The ship will be caught in a severe storm, sirens will attack their ship, killing many of the crew and tearing the ship apart. Quackity will drown when he tries to save himself and others, he will be stuck in the closed cabin. Wilbur will look for the captain and then he will find him, but it will be too late.

Wilbur will drag Quackity's body to the shore, there will be a difficult scene with Wilbur tearing his own body to pieces in front of Tommy, who will be hiding behind a rock nearby.

Tommy becomes the new heir to the throne.

The kingdom despises Tommy and Phil for his choice. The kingdom is in chaos, Tommy will have to make up for all his wrongdoings and prove that he is a good king.

Here's the story in a VERY short summary. I wanted to do it in the form of a fanfic, but I understand that I will not be able to, because it's too difficult mentally, I still need to study psychology.

Okay so Dapper confirmed earlier today that the egg parents assignments got fucked. Quackity was accidentally doubled-counted so we got Quackity + Luzu and Wilbur + BBH. But bc the second pairing was against the rules they just let BBH and Wilbur be single parents

Obviously the single parent relationships we got out of this are really adorable, but the implications are WILD. it means that the Quackity-Tilin saga could’ve gone so differently if either Wilbur or Luzu had been online on adoption day or even the next few days following it. It was clear from the start that Q wouldnt be able to do daily tasks w Tilin (for both character and meta reasons) and that he desperately needed other ppl to take care of her. Roier and Jaiden did what they could but without a dedicated parent who would be more attentive to Tilin, she was fucked. and by the time Luzu and Wilbur got back Tilin was already dead

Its getting a lot of flack on twitter and I get that some ppl really wanted tntduo to be a happy family but the story made it clear that that wasnt gonna happen. at first Tallulah may have been seen as a potential second chance for Q to be a parent again, but at that point he was still grieving Tilin and was desperately looking for a rebound. Tallulah was a potential second chance to take care of a daughter, but not the daughter he wanted. Today’s stream reinstates this. Quackity still considers his ultimate happiness to be Tilin.

(Wilbur clocked this right away, mind you. Q has shown that he is not capable of the single parent lifestyle and was too emotionally unstable to do so anyway. Wilbur was right not to entrust Tallulah to Q)

Its wild how the moment a storyline isnt straightforward linear everyone-is-happy-together people lose their shits trying to justify why it shouldnt have happened that way. people fail to appreciate the very raw and real complications that qsmp is showing in regards to parenting. Sometimes you mess up. Sometimes you mess up so bad it causes permanent damage. Sometimes you get a second chance, or maybe you dont. I think people dont appreciate this storyline just bc the ship they wanted didnt happen!!

seeing our girl tallulah go on without her papa for months with barely any source of communication for eachother now (as q!wilbur stopped sending letters bc cc!wilbur physically Couldn't) and her missing him and talking abt him(? i haven't caught up on tallulah content) everyday IS heart wrenching but IT ISN'T Q!WILBURS FAULT !!!

wilbur didnt WANT her the FIRST DAY they met because he knew this would happen. he made it known to tallulah that he's a busy man and he won't have time to look after her bc he's always away on trips. he spoke to fitmc about how he didn't even want to be a deadbeat dad and how she deserves a proper parent, which looking back on now... yeah its unfortunate how that turned out

Phil and Wilbur are such fundamentally different characters it's fucking me up

Wilbur has never known permanent death and he never will. C!Wilbur died but he never left, he was a ghost and then he was revived and he never gone. Qsmp and dsmp Wilbur have one glaring similarity and it is their aversion to armour and fighting. Wilbur is always insistant that he doesn't need armour. He is insistant that Tallulah doesn't need armour.

He doesn't want his daughter to wear armour around him, or ever wield a weapon. This comes not only from him not understanding how dangerous the island really is, but also because he doesn't understand true death. He doesn't really understand that Tallulah can be killed for good. He doesn't get that as long as neither he or his daughter defend themselves, they are in danger. He doesn't understand that he is actively putting Tallulah in harms way.

Phil is the exact opposite.

He is too aware of how easy it is for these kids to die. He is cautious in everything, even when there's no real threats, he is careful. He is careful and afraid always because he is so familiar with permanent death.

They will never really see eye to eye.

When Wilbur comes back and sees his sweet little girl in heavy armour, he isn't going to be happy. He will see Phil making his peaceful daughter into a soldier, the same as he did with Chayanne.

They do not and will not understand each other's point of view because it is so unfamiliar to them.

Wilbur will never understand true death and Phil will never understand life without it.
