BG3 Comic: The Last Unicorn

Be Forewarned: Dark Urge Spoilers

This comic was inspired by the excellent idea of using The Last Unicorn dialogue for Astarion’s story from @fangsandfeels and the lovely comic made by @solmesia depicting it. You can see the original post here and the comic here.

When I read the original idea I thought that this also potentially works in reverse for a redemption Dark Urge who is horrified by their monstrousness. I did edit and add to the original dialogue for my own purposes.

(Also I really think it would have been cool if slayer form worked more like an uncontrollable werewolf-like curse rather than a gift you have to seek out.)

personally I like to think that, amongst the nights watch slash stannis’ army when they finally get there, jon snow has a big reputation for being a whore. getting up naked in the baths and just walking out angry on alliser thorne and whatshisface while naked as his nameday. hooked up with a wildling girl beyond the wall, and now both the wildling princess and old man warrior are flirting with him like crazy in front of everyone (aka val makes barely concealed threats and tormund is constantly talking about his penis). made satin his personal assistant and the first question whatshisface has is ‘are y’all fucking.’ now alys karstark rolls up in a wedding dress and asks for jon snow personally and everyone sees them giggling together during her wedding that jon arranged? and the rizz he has is unbelievable, as sam will personally tell you

Wait you think Jon will be on the IT (not that it matters since the series will never finish) but King Bran was a plot point D and D were directly told by GRRM lol. I don't like it and think it's stupid but that was always GRRM's endgame.

I think that but like the two things aren't mutually exclusive X°D like yeah... king bran is a plot point... because he's king in the north XD okay quick summary:

first of all lemme link you my at length reasoning wrt bran being the in series deconstruction of the arthurian fisher king figure which is half of the explanation;

now, after we have that out of the way, tldr: I think bran was obviously and without a doubt stated as next king in the north which like.. the north has technically seceded so unless whoever comes up on top next is a kingdom unionist the north is gonna stay seceded which btw also happened in the show, except that they put sansa as qitn when she had no business being there but like.... yeah the north is gonna stay separated so it has to have a ruler and diff. from sansa bran has all the book lore to back up his kingship (esp. if rickon survives and can give him heirs in case he ends up unable to have any)

jon will be on the it to end the entire dynasty the way it was created by aegon i which I think is a great bookmark because targ empire being ended by stark/targaryen bastard descendent who makes all the kingdoms independent and does it without changing his name bc I'mma eat my hat if when he gets the throne he's not jon snow first of his name? that's a good bookend/parallel;

now, lemme see if I find that damned jon meta so I don't have to redo it, why jon is the chosen one deconstruction there we go plus this isn't specifically that but why jon is AA and there's no way he's not so I don't have to redo it too;

so: whatever the fuck happens, jon is also atm the best throne candidate because robb legitimized him and howland reed has the document to testify it (in book canon) and howland reed knows he's r+l and the moment it's out someone is gonna legitimize that claim too because it's just too convenient for everyone involved except for dany and I'm still of the idea that dany/aegon vi/cersei are the current dance with dragons parallels so the moment she comes out on top or whatever but has gone through her shit already with aegon and turns out someone else has a better claim and zombies are coming... like again idt dany actually wants the throne anyway and jon has a better claim bc male son of firstborn male son of last targ king so he automatically passes in front of last female daughter of last targ king and at that point if she decides to go back to khaleesing in essos literally no one is gonna want that job

so imvho: jon gets the iron trap, jon dismantles the seven kingdoms and all of them get into fantasy reinassance as separated kingdoms and he undoes the og targ empire, he fixes everything that has to be fixed while being absolutely unhappy and hating every single thing about the job, gives bran the north after bran is back from beyond the wall and then he gets his show ending ie he gives the throne to someone else after he fixes everything and most of all redoes the small council the way it was more or less in the show (I mean at the end of the show the small council was all made up of previously marginalized ppl which imvho was the most grrm thing that stood out so I don't doubt that jon does the same) and then fucks off beyond the wall by his own choice because the only time in his life he actually was happy was with the wildlings which checks out with his show ending

tldr: dnd also said killing shireen that way was smth grrm told them and there is literally no physical way stannis can be behind shireen being burned alive and they used that to justify their stannis character assassination so if grrm told them bran was kitn and they decided it was as good as sansa taking his place and him taking jon's when they also took AA away from jon because they wanted ppl to be shocked and not even maisie williams thought arya being AA made a lick of sense and they had written everything leading up to jon being it... sorry but I'mma not taking 'dnd says grrm told them' face value when dnd heard what grrm said and 90% of the time most likely changed the entire context X°D

The Great Walrus

"The Great Walrus? Truly?"

"They have queer names along the Frozen Shore."

Remember? The Great Walrus? Everyone's favourite character! He's... great! And walrus-esque! ...okay I have no idea their criteria for picking who they make miniatures of.

That said, he's a great sculpt, and was a blast to paint! You don't get that many fat miniatures and they're always fun to paint somehow. I also think he meets a nice balance between a big blocky easy to see character, and a lot of fun small details that manage to enhance his overall look instead of just becoming visual noise. That facial hair is great fun, and that big ol sword is super striking.

I wanted to try out a new basing style for the Frozen Shore - I like how it came out, I'm excited to try it on a bigger scale!

Hope

Sansa had been the Queen in the North for years now. But she wasn’t happy. Between the War of the Five Kings and the Long Night there were so many fires that Sansa was being forced to put out that it has been literal years and she is still putting them out.

Sansa was alone and would probably be the last of the Stark bloodline. She could never marry again. Not after Ramsay, and Joffrey and… Theon… She would never be able to trust someone like that. She would never fully be able to give herself to another.

“My la… Your Grace.” Halis Mollen said, knowing her since she was a little girl the transition between Lady and Queen was not the easiest for the Captain of the Guard.

“Yes, Hallis?”

“There is a woman here that needs to speak to you. She said it is extremely important.”

“Did she say what it was about?” Sansa asked, curiously. Not many women would demand to speak with a queen and Halis knew Arya so that ruled her out

“No but she said it was important.” Halis said and his nose wrinkled slightly. “I think she is a wildling.”

Despite how much they did side by side, the Northerners still were… wary of the Free Folk and that was a more generous interpretation of the word.

But if it were a wildling there is a chance that it could be a message from Jon! Sansa picked up her skirts and rushed to her solar only to find… not Jon. There was a blonde woman that Sansa had never seen before who was singing, but was interrupted by Sansa slamming the door open.

“J- oh. Hello.” Sansa said, quickly able to smother her disappointment. Something that did not exactly go unnoticed.

“You don’t have to pretend. I know I’m not Snow.” The blonde snarked. “I am Val.”

“Hello Val.” Sansa said, her bluntness reminding Sansa of Arya. “Welcome to Winterfell.”

“I… gonna cut through any bullshit.” Val said, “Snow… He…”

Sansa's world went blurry and she stumbled only being caught by Val stopped her from hitting the ground. The woman, seemingly a warrior, easily maneuvered her to one of her chairs.

Jon was her last real connection to her family. Now he is gone. All of her family was gone. Bran… well that was not Bran anymore, he has made that perfectly clear. Arya has not been heard from since she set sail and Jon… Jon has gone north of the wall yet to be heard from since he was sentenced there. She always planned on bringing him back once she was fully established in the North, but now she’d never get that chance.

“H- How?” Sansa croaked.

“Those… Unfettered?” Val said. “They were still pissed and were looking for him. They weren’t treating those who they thought were harboring him with kid gloves. They found us and he decided to hold them off so we could escape.”

“Tormund?” Sansa asked. She doubted the rowdy man would leave Jon to his fate nor could not be here if that were the case.

“He went with them.”

Sansa now knew that she was the last of her house. It was a lonely feeling. She wondered if this was how her father felt after the Rebellion. She was drawn for her wallowing as a chirping noise came from beside her desk.

“Is that…”

“Yes.” Val said, walking over and picking up a bundle of blankets. Sansa’s eyes widened looking at the little girl.

“C- Can I hold her?” Sansa asked, and Val handed her over.

“I know Snow would have wanted her to grow up here.” Val said, leaning on Sansa’s desk. “And if it is not as I have anything left up there.”

Sansa ignored her though, staring down at the little girl in her arms. She had her mother’s blonde hair and Sansa’s father’s eye. Her brother’s eyes. She… Sansa had family.

“What’s her name?”

“Hope.” Val said.

“Hello. Welcome to Winterfell.” Sansa said, smiling while bouncing her new ward in her arms. “Hope Stark.”

Yandere House Stark Headcanons

A/N: I ended up not doing Bran and Rickon only because I wanted to get this out sooner rather than later and they were a little difficult to write for. If you'd like to see headcanons for them I can definitely make another post for them, just let me know.

Let's say you are a low born person looking for refuge in Winterfell after your village was sacked by Wildlings. You had hoped to find some tavern to hold up in or even a brothel, but unbeknownst to you the Stark family kept an eye on newcomers. When they received news of your arrival, they requested your presence. It was only to talk about the possibility of nearby Wildlings, but when YOU showed up beaten and scared for your life- how could they not offer their Stark hospitality?

This is where the yandere tendencies begin.

Ned Stark, as a yandere, is protective and definitely has a savior complex. He's an honorable and just man that can't help but bring home strays, so when he sees you it's like finding Jon all over again. A deep sense of responsibility comes over him and he knows in that moment that you are just as much his as any of his kids. From that day forward he assigns a room for you in the castle and a handmaiden to keep you company, not that you'll be needing it. The family of course is shocked at his sudden interest, but they all love to see him happy and nothing makes him more happy than seeing you taken care of.

Now Catelyn is initially worried that Ned has taken a romantic interest in you, but when she sees the way you both interact she understands the fatherly bond he is trying to create very similar to his own kids. It didn't take long for her to fall into her own yandere tendencies; checking in on you in the mornings, making prayer wheels even when you're not sick, helping in the kitchen to make sure your food was perfect ( and not poisoned). She takes her role as your surrogate mother very seriously,sometimes to the extent of watching you sleep or ordering guards to discreetly watch over you and report back. Her biggest worry is that you'll be taken away from them so she takes extra precautions to keep you safe.

Robb is head over heels for you instantly. Man is down bad. Much like his father, Robb has a savior complex and finds himself wanting to be YOUR savior always. He does this by training extra hard with Jon, keeping an eye on you at all times, and giving threatening looks to any man or woman who gets too close to you. He doesn’t mean to scare away any potential friends but he does mean to scare away potential lovers. He couldn’t bear to see you with anyone outside the family, and even then he has a sword up his butt about it. 

On the other hand, Jon takes a while to warm up to you. He loves his family and is vicious to outsiders who could harm them. Eventually, seeing how you interact with everyone makes him a tad jealous. Not of you, but of his family and how easily they can approach you. I definitely see Jon as an overprotective/stalker yandere with strong jealous tendencies that make him beg for your approval. He finds himself wherever you are, lurking in the background, waiting for the right moment to catch you alone. Jon feels like himself around you and the more time you spend together the more addicted to your presence he becomes. 

Theon is hands down THE worshiper of the group. It's a hot take for sure but as a yandere, I see Theon's insecurities and fears taking over, slightly similar to reek!Theon. He sees you as a deity, above the Lords and Ladies, even above the King/Queen themself. If it were up to him he'd be the one giving you your meals, running your baths, standing by your side as guard. He cherishes your very presence and hopes one day you'll see his never ending loyalty to you and only you. 

Sansa is very quiet about her obsession, you almost couldn't tell. She's the perfect friend, always sitting next to you at meals, gossiping about the Lords and Lady's of court, and helping you stock your wardrobe. Whatever hobby you choose to pick up, she's always there to praise you in your efforts and guide you in whatever way she can. She especially loves teaching you how to embroider as it's her specialty. It was all but normal until you came upon her private journal filled with both your names in beautiful cursive surrounded by hearts. You begin to notice the closeness she silently demands, eyeing everyone else to stay away. You see the way she longingly watches you from afar when you choose to spend time with anyone else. And your dresses, that you both so carefully picked out, seem to have a little embroidered "SS" on the nape of your neck.

Arya sees you as her golden older sibling, the one who can do no wrong. She is constantly dragging you around Winterfell - riding horses and trying to shoot arrows (and failing lol). She finds comfort within you, the only person who doesn't expect anything of her except to be herself. And for that she will never leave your side. Most nights you'll find her trying to sneak into your room to share a bed, but whether she can get past the guards Ned and Catelyn have posted outside your door is another story.
