17. Dan or Morgan?

Honestly, Morgan. Dan's the one I've properly seen live, just because I was so far at the back during the last (ST) tour that I could barely tell who was who in the band, and really, they were only distinguishable from 1) Matt's ridiculous LED sunglasses and 2) the fact that Dom was in fact, behind a drum kit :P And Morgan prefers to stay in the background anyway, so I barely saw him. :/

Dan obviously lets Muse be the star of their own show too, but I think you feel his presence more on stage? And he also had a lovely moment at a Muse show where he proposed to his partner! And that's always going to be a part of the Muse family history, which is super sweet.

I can't say that musically Dan is a better or worse fit with Muse than Morgan, because he does what he does well, and iirc he also helped with mixing Won't Stand Down and the band were quite happy with that (separate discussion about what fans thought of those BMTH-like verses, but it sounds like that's what the band wanted in the first place), so I reckon he's got what Muse need.

But I think it's just the history and tradition that make me pick Morgan! How many other people are responsible for my knee-jerk reaction to any time anyone mentions any sort of shaking percussion instrument:

If Morgan decides he does want to tour with Muse again, I'll miss Dan but be really happy to see Morgan again. I hope he isn't fully done with Muse, he was in the crowd at the final London shows of the tour!

the funniest part is that like. some modern undeniably mcyt creators aren’t. even by definition “mcyt” bc they’re twitch streamers, not YouTubers. like. it’s just clear to me that it’s not a strict and defined label one way or another but rather a catch all for a certain subsection of content creators who either started in or have had major participation in minecraft related Things at some point (or are very heavily tied with people who did) yknow.

yeah!!! it’s actually a really interesting like, phenomenon. for the lack of a better term. just how much the label has expanded and changed to fit modern-day content creation. bc there’s this divide, kind of, between people who are a part of the community and those that aren’t. fans of mcyt will kind of label most ccs that even interact with mcyt as a mcyt themselves (crumb, for example) even if said creator hasn’t personally posted minecraft videos to youtube, or rarely stream it (if at all). and then you have people outside the fanbase that hold mcyt with a negative connotation that fight tooth and nail to argue that a specific cc isn’t an mcyt because they don’t want them to be, despite said cc fitting into the category perfectly, and being okay with the label. kind of an offshoot of lovejoy fans who don’t know that wilbur does minecraft content, but more extreme. idk fandom behaviour and the sociology of it?? for lack of a better term?? is always so interesting to me. there’s a lot of Very Specific Circumstances that led to modern mcyt and its development, popularity, and stigma, and i would dig deeply into all of it if i could

Worrying a hangnail on his thumb, Vin glanced over his shoulder toward the figure sleeping at the back of the cavern. He was no doctor, and he really was not sure who he could turn to for help…but he might need some all the same. But how could he leave Zorro alone in this condition long enough to find a doctor? The man had been unconscious since last night at least…and Vin had no idea how long the man had been sprawled out on the grass before he found him. The bounty hunter found Tornado grazing near his friend’s collapsed form, and some rocks with traces of blood on them gave Vin a fair estimate of what happened…but that information did not change the fact he was worried. Zorro was still unconscious…the man had made a few attempts at waking up during the night before fading out again. It was now mid-morning now and there seemed no indication that his friend would be recovering his senses any time soon. And if he did wake up, what then? Some people took cracks on the head, and they were fine. Others woke up and were never quite right again. Their senses stayed rattled…their personalities changed…they started behaving strangely. What would he do if that was the case with Zorro? Even though he removed his friend’s hat and mask in order to better clean the gash on his head and bandage it, Vin could not claim that he knew who the now-unmasked hero truly was. A loner by his nature, Vin preferred the wild places and did not spend enough time in the civilized areas to learn the names and faces of the local people. Something in the man’s features piqued his memory but given the circumstances and his friend’s condition, he did not want to trust anything he thought he recalled. He had bigger things to worry about anyways. Knowing Zorro’s true identity was only really useful for someone planning on betraying the outlaw…which Vin was not. Turning around from the cave entrance, he dropped his hand to his side and headed over toward the horses. For now, he put Tornado with Peso. The two horses seemed to be getting along for the time being. In a bit, he would turn them both out to eat some grass and run around a while…horses never did do well being cooped up. Hopefully by then Zorro would be awake and in his right mind. Vin’s hiding spot would be a comfortable enough camp for a while (He should know since he had lain low here many times as needed) but he hardly had enough supplies stashed away to support two people for more then a few days. He would need to restock at some point—but even leaving to go fishing for a few hours would be a dicey prospect during his current situation. Peso rammed his head into Vin’s shoulder and Vin automatically reached up to rub at the horse’s blaze with one hand. Thoughtlessly, he fisted his free hand and started rubbing his index finger over the hangnail again. If he kept this up, he would draw blood in short order….. Hopefully his friend would wake up before that happened….
