It really bothers me how no one in-universe or fandom acknowledges what a problem Kurenai has. I think I've seen one other person mention it and every time I bring this up to someone they act shocked and demand to know if that's canon because they never noticed it.

I will preface this by saying even before Asuma's death she clearly had a lot going on, a lot of the time looked like a deer in the headlights, probably some major PTSD rolling around in her brain, but also: Get Help, You Are Hurting People Around You.

Even to have a serious conversation with Shino about his life she refuses to be sober and drunkenly tells him something devastating and factually untrue. (And causing fans who forgot he was scouted for this job based on a history of working well with children to create a pervasive fanon where Shino sucks at his job, will not forgive her for this any time soon.)

As if she would know who know how to interact with kids?!:

She whines about not being able to day-drink in front of her toddler.

And can't even stop thinking about the drink long enough to consider Naruto and Hinata's tastes for their wedding.

And the whole suggestion was a plot to manipulate Kiba and Shino into fetching a rare and expensive mead for her.
