A throwback to my longer holiday-themed work, from @wireless-festive-minifest 2020. I can't believe it's been three years already! Time has just flooowwn by. I loved the setting and friendships in this fic. It was fun to be able to bring forth my headcanons of the Next-Gen kiddos I've been building for the past several years.

Summary:

The Winter Showcase at the end of fall term is a premiere event, celebrating both student talent and the holiday season at Hogwarts. Rose Weasley is determined to make her mark and shine as a vocalist this year, if only to overcome this annoying stage fright. But when her partner gets injured, she has to scramble to find someone who can accompany her. Someone who plays piano, sings, doesn't mind performing last-minute in front of the whole school, and, more importantly, is available. It's a lot to ask for, but if she can't find a proper replacement in time, she may have to drop out of the program altogether... Will her efforts ring true or will she fall flat this Christmas?

Santa Claus is coming

Harry and godson Teddy Lupin visit Santa Claus. Based on the song: Santa Claus is coming to town. Written for the @wireless-festive-minifest. Thank you for the beta @keyflight790 ♥️

"Come on Harry! We have to hurry up, otherwise Santa already will be gone!" Teddy tugged at his godfathers arm, trying to make him walk faster. 

"We're almost there, Teddy. Calm down. I'm sure Santa will have time for everyone." 

Teddy pouted at this, but cheered up as he finally saw Santa. The white haired man was seated on a big chair, with house elves surrounding him, each elf dressed in little green suits or dresses. The ultimate sign that they belonged to Santa Claus. 

He let go of Harry's hand and ran forward. Only to stop again to stand in line. It wasn't long before he was joined by Harry, who was frowning slightly. 

"Edward Lupin. We do not just run away without permission," the man lectured him. 

"I'm sorry, Harry." He apologized, which was accepted with a nod. 

He normally didn't run away, always sticking close to his grandma or godfather, but this was just so exciting! Santa only came to town once a year! And he had to be sure that Santa knew what he wanted for Christmas, telling the man personally was truly the best option! 

It was only a few minutes later, and he was called forward. Carefully so he wouldn't fall, he made way to Santa, before sitting down on the man's knee. Harry only stood a bit away. 

"So young man, have you been good this year?" Santa asked him, at which he nodded enthusiastically. 

"Alright then. What would you like for Christmas?" 

At this he pondered for a bit before answering. "I would like a broom. Oh and the new magical creatures book!" he gave Santa hopeful eyes. 

"I'm sure that can be arranged. Are those all that you wish for?" 

"Uhm I would like a really nice boyfriend for Harry too! He is my godfather and he is the best! He deserves a boyfriend who will love him like he loves me! And maybe a bit more." Teddy nodded. "That’s him." At this point, he pointed over to Harry and only dropped his arm again once he was sure Santa saw Harry too. 

"I will do my best, child." and with those words he was placed back on the ground. With one final wave to Santa and the elves, he walked back to Harry. 

"Why did you point at me, bub?" Harry asked. 

"Oh I asked Santa for a boyfriend for you! He needed to know who you were." and without taking notice of his godfathers sputtering he started to walk back to the car.

A year after Draco and Hermione are sent on separate wartime missions, only one of them has returned home. In the cheer of Christmas Day, Hermione feels the stinging absence of the man she has come to love. As the day wears on, she starts to fear that the devastating rumours are true.

Wippety Snip

I was tagged by the very talented trifecta @tackytigerfic @wolfpants and @lettersbyelise to share a wip snip. Thank you for the tag, friends! And you can check out their fantastic snips here, here and here, respectively.

So, this snippet is from a WIP that's half posted and I'm trying hard to get all finished before I post the rest. I started posting in back in 2019 for @wireless-festive-minifest and I posted a chapter every month or two until about Jan 2021 where I finally succumbed to all the other pretty squirrels competing for my attention and semi-abandoned it. But I'm committed to finishing it now, by hook or by crook, and have two new chapters drafted and hope to write about four more after that. And then... post the thing.

Background here is that Lucius Malfoy has initiated a Pureblood Giftgiving loop with Harry Potter based on the 12 Days of Christmas, and there is a sorta curse attached where Harry is obliged to marry Draco at the end of it unless he can make Lucius a better offer. If that makes no sense to you, I completely empathise.

Sunday morning rolled around as it usually did, with a stripe of sunlight coming through the curtains and across my bedspread (those curtains never bloody closed properly) inviting me to begin my day. I got up and pulled the curtains open, and dazzling light flooded the room, painting the colours of the room anew—the gorgeous burgundies and golds that reminded me of Hogwarts—and I felt a little of those golden rays soak into my skin.

It looked to be a picture perfect day out there. Despite the whole mess with Malfoy, perhaps I could do as he did, have a relaxing day, cook a tasty breakfast, maybe even have a bath—if it was good enough for Malfoy, it was good enough for me. I was pretty sure I still had a bottle of Matey bubble bath in the bathroom cabinet. 

What was the point of stressing? Hermione was busy writing up a geniusly devious letter for Lucius, and Malfoy had implied that he’d go along with the plan of somehow getting his dad to read it aloud, so really, there was little point in tormenting myself about the whole thing. I ignored the little voice in the back of my head trying to goad me into thinking about Malfoy expertly fucking me the day before and then casting me aside not two minutes after we were done, and instead pulled on some cosy pyjamas and thought about making myself some eggs and bacon. And maybe some fried tomatoes and a bit of black pudding. And, gods, some hot buttered toast on the side and a strong cup of tea. 

However, I was halfway down the stairs—and still salivating at the thoughts of my upcoming breakfast—when an almighty drone arose, along with what sounded like several dying cats.

I opened the front door and there was a man standing right on the doorstep playing a bloody bagpipe. In the centre of London, on a Sunday morning. My neighbours would be livid. Never mind my neighbours, I was livid! 

"What the fuck, mate?" I roared over the din. 

He stopped playing—if you could call it that; his piping appeared to be the long-lost missing link between music and noise—for long enough to shout "Gift for Mr Potter from Lucius Abraxas Malfoy Esquire," and he produced an envelope from within his rather large and tasselled sporran.

Fan-fucking-tastic.

First Snow

Ginny watched as the first snowflakes hit the frozen grass outside their little home.

It wouldn’t be long until everything outside was white.

The first snow had always been her favourite. It reminded her of wild snowball fights with her brothers at the Burrow, and racing with brooms over a frozen landscape while her heart threatened to jump out of her chest.

Mommy kissing Santa Claus

I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus by The Jackson 5

Mentioned Drastoria. Mainly Draco and Scorpius talking. Written for the @wireless-festive-minifest

"Daddy daddy daddy" Scorpius chanted as he launched himself onto his father's lap. 

Draco was quick to catch his son, before replying. "Yes, Scorp?" 

"I have to tell you something really really important!" His son nodded, a grim expression on his little face. 

Draco smiled, Scorpius came to him at least once a month, claiming he had something important to tell his father. And each time he would listen to his now almost 7 year old son. 

"Well, what is this really important thing hun?" he asked, making sure to pay full attention to the boy. 

"It's about mommy, daddy!" At this part Draco was a little surprised. What would his son have to say about his wife? He couldn't have figured out he would be having another sibling? 

"What is with mommy, Scorpius?" 

The little boy was quiet for a bit, deep in thought, before shouting out. "I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus last night!" 

The one thought running through Draco's head was shit. He had come back late yesterday night, after bringing presents by the orphanage in full Santa Claus costume . Once at home, Astoria had greeted him, and as they were standing under the mistletoe that decorated their home everywhere, he had kissed her. 

"That can't be". He made sure to hide his amusement at the situation, "I'm sure your mommy was just thanking Santa Claus for giving everyone presents. Like she kisses you when you do something for her,” he explained to Scorpius. 

At this the boy was quiet, deep in thought. Meanwhile, Draco thought smugly how he had been right last night when he’d claimed after the kiss that he had heard footsteps and a gasp. 

"So Santa Claus is not going to be my new daddy?" Scorpius eventually asked, his eyes wide and innocent. 

"No. I will still be your daddy. Your mommy wouldn't leave me, she loves me too much."

"Good, because I love you too and don't want you to leave!" and with that Draco was being hugged tightly. 

He smiled, before hugging back just as tight. This way they stayed for a while, until Scorpius broke free from the hug and went back to his own room probably to play. 

Draco smiled to himself. This surely would be a story to tell Astoria and, when Scorpius was older, him too.
