Looked up the name Pelageya cus even though I’m basically out of room to add anything, thought it was worth checking the meaning of her name, which took me to the wikipedia disambiguation page which linked to the saint of her name and
Pelagia's story is attributed to James[4][5] or Jacob[6][5] (Latin: Jacobus), deacon of the church of Heliopolis (modern Baalbek).[7] He states that Margarita was the "foremost actress" and a prominent harlot in Antioch. …
She had two of her slaves trail Nonnus to his residence and then wrote him on wax tablets, calling herself "sinful" and a "servant of the devil" but seeking mercy from God, who "came down to earth not for the sake of the righteous but to save sinners".[5] …
The archbishop was informed and sent the deaconess Romana to clothe her in the baptismal gown. Nonnus took her confession and baptized "Margarita" under her birth name Pelagia, with Romana serving as her godmother. …
The night before it came time to remove her baptismal gown, she stole out in the dark wearing one of Nonnus's chitons. She headed for Jerusalem, where she built a cell on the Mount of Olives. She lived there for three or four years, disguising herself as a male recluse and eunuch under the name Pelagius.[5] She then died, apparently as a result of extreme asceticism, which had emaciated her to the point she could no longer be recognized. -Wikipedia

I wish more people in the Fear & Hunger fandom talked about the Maiden of the Depths.
Tumblr media
What do you mean there's folklore that God of Depths took a maiden to be their bride but their union was impossible since she's a mortal.
Ragnvaldar and D'arce when they see her:
Ragnvaldar: "This tree is- how do you say it- magnificent . . . It's the Maiden of the Depths - the human bride of the god that formed these dungeons. The two could never truly be together, a mere human being and an older god. But desperately the maiden still tries to link the human world with the world of the gods to this day."
D'arce: "Is this story real? Sounds . . . strangely romantic."
Ragnvaldar: "Haha, no. It's just an old folks tale."
D'arce: "Aahhh . . . that's a shame . . ."
Ragnvaldar: "Maybe there's a seed of truth in it . . . ?"

The Ballad Of Blind Love
I've had this one song stuck in my head for literal weeks, so here's art (2 versions cause I couldn't decide on the colors)
Fellow italians, I'm sorry for turning a 60's song gay
(song's "La Ballata Dell'Amore Cieco" by Fabrizio De André btw)
More details and variants here

And here's another revenant, Laurel! Born and raised in Ebonhawke by a Vanguard captain mother, Laurel grew up with traditional Ascalonian courage running in her blood. This led to her naively signing up for what would turn out to be a suicide mission, and getting her back torn open by a charr. She survived through sheer luck and playing dead, and after learning that it was her own mother who had authorized the mission and hidden its true nature from the public, she abandoned her name and past life and joined a mercenary group, the Ashen Blades. After years of being tricked and abused under the Blades, she betrayed a Priory caravan she was supposed to be guarding and stole an artifact that flung her into the Mists - only to meet Ventari on her quest for power instead of any useful Legends. The centaur flung her back after a year in the Mists with nothing but her staff, half-destroyed armor, and new healing powers to her name, and now she has at least two groups of people after her for betraying them. Great!
Thanks to his history of being betrayed and deceived at every turn, Laurel is cynical and selfish to a fault. He feels he can't trust anyone, and thus seeks out power and independence above all else. Nearly a decade as a mercenary has made him clever, abrasive, and assertive, and his childhood under a Vanguard captain means he has a fair basis in tactics and general knowledge as well. For now, he and Ventari are in a constant tug-of-war over the path he should take, with Ventari acting as a moral compass that Laurel constantly tries to ignore. Despite all his flaws, Laurel's one saving grace is that his past has given him an intense hatred for injustice. He has no patience for those who misuse their power, and a compassion for those who have been wronged that he can't quite push down, despite his best efforts. Once he gets over his misanthropy and distrust, he'll make a shockingly good leader for a ragtag band of rebels out to get revenge on the people who tried to write them off as sacrifices for the greater good.

The they/themming fear is real. When I got my current job, we had a group training session. Everyone there was female, but I was the only one with short hair and no make up. About half way through was when I realised I was being consistently they/themmed compared to everyone else's she/her lol. And I'm someone who looks "feminine" no matter what she does, so I imagine it's even worse if one is actually more butch or androgynous.
yeah my gf & my closest friend in germany are both gnc, and they both get asked their pronouns or ppl hesitate and correct themselves when they refer to my gf as she / my friend as he or ask me their pronouns bc they’re embarrassed to ask them 🙃 but no one ever asks my pronouns even tho i have body hair and don’t wear makeup and my gf & i often dress the same in such situations. it’s purely bc my gf has short hair, my friend has long hair, and i have long hair. 😐 it’s so regressive. one time someone asked my friend his pronouns & i said “he’s a guy” and they were like “i’m asking them not you!” and i had to be like excuse me he’s my friend lmfao.. acting like i’m an evil person misgendering my friend purely bc he’s feminine with long hair istg

Aro culture is not feeling comfortable with assigning queer labels to dead people because a) there's only so much you can know about someone without knowing them personally b) it's entirely their business how they categorize relationships and c) more often than not it stems from amatonormative reasons "they couldn't just be friends!! because they did THIS!!!"
I'm not the only one uncomfortable with this, right?

We do think that Riz is a gynandromorph of some description, especially since damselfly sexual dimorphism tends to be pretty distinct and he's displaying a very unconventional morph for a damselfly of any flavor. He would have no goddamned clue what that would mean, of course, and he probably wouldn't care about it if you told him, but he's definitely got something going on there.
#we speak#bug fables#for reference its a Thing for damselflies to have mimicry in the form of Females Who Look Like Males#but its a one-way street. theres no equivalent female-mimic morph for males#which makes riz Extremely Notable since hes displaying a real clear female morph there#and though being transgender would be very much possible for him we prefer this option#especially since it also offers extra reason why he's got such a broad palette compared to his sister and his father#guy is Unusually Big for a male damselfly and just didnt think twice about it. he feels like the sort of guy who just#wouldnt care overly much for self-definition we think. hes got a job to do. do you think he cares about how rare his genes are?#for his sister there is literally no way to tell if shes transfem or just a mimic morph and tbh good for her#we'll. drop some comparison images in a reblog for the irl damselflies#but in general we favor this one both bc it appeals to us more and bc riz just feels like the sort of guy who wouldnt care much abt gender#like. even if he were trans he feels like the sort of guy who would tell like three people about his pronouns#and then just go about his day and either they tell people or they dont and he doesnt particularly care either way#hes got things to do. traps to build. yes hes a guy but what is the point of making a thing out of it when theres poachers to deal with#he feels like the sort of dude to be Cis Guy enough that hes entirely confused as to what ur talking about if u try and misgender him#no clue where youre coming from but youre wrong#anyways back to spear fighting 101#(note: male and female used here as in the arbitrary sex categories. its the junk. we know its not accurate to being A People)#(its the terminology we've got in the back drawer)

okay but consider
genderqueer revan. or agender revan. or revan who's literally unlabeled genderwise
revan who identifies as revan and that's about it.
this dude tried out being a jedi and then a sith and decided that nah neither are quite right. in what world is that cis behavior?
only a cis deals in absolutes right? yes well revan has one(1) absolute and that's "I do what I want fuck you" and yes that includes gender

something in found hard in english is that objects, feelings and other things don't have pronouns, so i most of the time am thinking "is that word feminine or masculine" AND IT'S THE WORD TABLE, I CAN CALL THAT IT, BUT IN PORTUGUESE TABLE IS FEMININE FOR SOME REASON AND THAT IS STUCK IN MY BRAIN WHEN I SPEAK ENGLISH

You know you're in too deep with the worldbuilding when you realize that your setting actually has four or five recognized gender categories, and that one of those gender categories is basically "what if 'furry' was a gender."
