With the storms of Ondra's Mortar calmed, Captain Variel of the Guiding Star (formerly the Watcher of Caed Nua) wanted to be the first Eoran ship captain to reach Yezhua. Aloth, finally freed from his self-imposed responsibilities regarding the Leaden Key cult, asked to stay with Variel, now and until the end of their lives. She was never happier to say 'yes'. Accompanied by their friend (and translator), Rekke, and Variel's insatiable thirst for exploration, they sailed into the unknown.
yet another playthrough of pillars completed, so i drew my watcher's epilogue

hi hi hi i'm new here but i just got through your entire (at least i think so) accidental crime boss mari au and i love it so much!!! also my imagination went wild and here's what it came up with (this is so long, i'm so sorry 😂)
so, Jason teaching the kids street stuff, like pickpocketing and such, nobody can Ever pickpocket Mari (not that they'd try, i think, hahaha), somehow it's just not possible. you think you have her and then find out otherwise. furthermore! she'd probably actually know how to do A Lot of what Jason is teaching (look, saving Paris that many times and seeing the shit she's seen must have taught her something about street smarts, okay?), but whether she's aware of all of it or not remains... unanswered. she absolutely surprises everyone, jaws-on-the-floor style, the first time she does it, especially when she does it consciously. every time she does something unknowingly (and still in the Nicest Way Possible, how even--) Jason probably quietly gathers the kids around so that they can watch and learn in real time from an example. and also, even though she's The Responsible One between the two of them when it comes to this stuff, sometimes Mari helps the kids do something, like maybe pickpocket someone in the family, as a prank
now about the Rules!! more specifically the sword fighting and duelling etiquette rule: auntie Kagami teaches everyone who wants to learn fencing every time she visits. there are tournaments. there's probably a pocket dimension designed specifically for that. it doesn't help lessen the amount of Shenanigans happening all the time but boy does it get competitive
also also also i love the name Mother of Heroes!!!! it's so cool!!! The Brood too!!!
if you've got any, i would love to see some more headcanons with the Sirens or the other dark/darker characters of the city (i'm not that well-versed in the DC universe, so idk what to call them if they have a name, sorry)
also, we already know she's called the Pixie and that she's kinda considered a mob boss and etc., but like, what about the point of view of an outsider? the way it all came to be really must sound like something from legends or fairytales out there on the streets. something so sudden and kind, and if you look a bit closer magical and just so unexplainably other???? kids just disappearing off the streets in that area and then resurfacing again looking well fed and taken care of???? to those disillusioned enough with life it must literally sound like an urban legend or something. but she's real. if you need help you just gotta find her.
HI HI HI!!! oh my gosh all of it??? thank you so much!!
1) i think that Mari knows theoretically a lot of things about being on the streets, but not a lot practically. living on the streets has less to do with being able to fight and a lot more to do with instincts and experience and all these little tics you pick up when all you have to count on is yourself.
there are, of course, certain ‘street talents’ as i call them, like being able to pick locks and con people and having a sense for danger etc, etc.
mari knows that tangible things, because she’s bound to pick them up, obviously. the kids just don’t forget what they’ve learned, so often she sees it in action. Jason also teaches her street talents as well, sometimes on purpose, most times on accident.
there is a difference though, in how Mari uses said talents. when the kids use them, there is an edge to every movement. they use their talents like weapons, like they are shields, all bared teeth and fingers like claws. their talents come from pain and necessity and there will always be something a bit vicious about it.
Mari doesn’t have that, and never will. her talents are tools and tools only, one more to add to her vast repertoire. it’s as impersonal as it gets for her, which means its soft and sweet and used with care. her talents, even in combat or duels, are velvet over steel.
2) Oba Kagami, unfortunately, can’t visit often but when she does, oh boy is it intense. Mari and Chloe are always delighted when she and Adrien visit, but mari spends most of the trip running around and quelling fights and making sure no one loses a finger
3) thank you! i’d like to say id been planning the Mother of Heroes for a while but i came up with it mostly on the spot lol. it fits really well though and makes a lot of sense imo
i quite like it
4) hmmm. im not sure about much of that. despite being thought of as a crime boss, she stays away from the other rogues mostly. I think, if given the chance, Mari would likely adopt killer croc without question, and I think she’s on okay terms with Riddler in that they like to exchange brain teasers and the like, but other than the Sirens, mari stays away from crime.
for the sirens though, i very much like the idea that Harley basically thinks of Mari as a younger sister and is liable to just take her out on the town and leave Selina and Ivy to watch the kids while they go cause trouble for whatever group has caught Harley/Mari’s ire this time.
Ivy and Mari have a comradery in their shared love of plants and similarity in their powers. mari is more expansive and flexible than Ivy’s, but they share the same roots and the two spend lots of time gardening and keeping crops for the kids. (though, harvesting is often a chore for the older ones)
5) Mari being an urban legend is the truest thing I have heard. god, i’ve never really considered the outsiders perspective but yeah. could you imagine the stories people would whisper about the faerie living near crime alley? in the beginning, just after things start picking up and Mari has somewhere upwards of a dozen kids, I think it’d look something like this:
“People say there’s faeries living near crime alley. Magic folk settling back into the city that tried to drive them out. No one knows what they want, but they keep taking kids. The strange ones, the ones that are like them, that aren’t quite human.
“They say that they’ll help you, if only you ask. But be careful. There hasn’t been a kid to go in there and not come out different. They’re stronger, normally. And well-fed. But they also talk of strange creatures and stories no one’s ever heard of and you stop seeing them on the streets so much. (They say they live with the faeries now.)
“No one knows what the faeries want, but we know this: they help when you ask and they keep taking kids. I suppose, in the grand scheme, it depends on how much your willing to risk for some help.”

Things We Lost in the Fire, ch 30
aka Caleo uni au
Fic summary: Calypso starts studying at a new university, but to her annoyance her new flatmate is a loud mouthed mechanic who also likes to sneak his dog in whenever. But as she learns to know him better, she realizes they might have more in common than what she first thought. Eventually, even the darkest secrets come out…
Chapter summary: At Waystation, pt 3/?
A/N: Chapter 30 already! This chapter was not an easy one to edit as I was insecure about a lot of things, but hey, it's out now and that's what matters, right? I am so aware things are progressing a bit slowly right now but I feel it's kind of 'necessary' to have a bit of down time before things start going down. (Not that I'm capable of writing actual drama.) Well, at least we'll find out a bit more about Leo's past in this chapter.
Without a further ado, please enjoy and let me know what you think (those comments really help me!!!)
Words: exactly 3000 apparently :O
Genre: romance & hurt/comfort
Warnings: none

...
After breakfast Leo asked Calypso if she would like him to give her a tour around Waystation. She agreed, but Leo couldn’t help but raise his eyebrow at his family members when Georgina asked if she could go with the flatmates and Leo’s mothers told her that they needed Georgie’s help in some Christmas chores.
“What?” Josephine asked innocently when she noticed Leo staring.
“I dunno, tía Jo. It just kinda seems like you don’t want Georgie to hang out with us,” he stated bluntly.
“That’s not accurate at all, Leo,” she denied. “I’d gladly let Georgina go with you but we really do need her help around here. Christmas isn’t coming if we all just slack off, right, Emmie?”
“I agree, dear. I haven’t even…” Emmie’s hesitance only deepened Leo’s suspicions. “...hmmm, taken care of our mistletoes yet.”
“Mistletoes?” Leo crossed his arms over his chest, briefly daring to wonder what would happen if he and Calypso were under one of those plants at the same time. He shook his head to dispel such an idea.
“Didn’t we agree that we don’t need stuff like that? You don’t even like Christmas!”
“I may agree that this holiday is way too commercial these days, but since Emmie has some mistletoes growing in her greenhouse anyway, I don’t see why we wouldn’t use them,” Jo commented. “It’s nice that Georgie gets to experience some of the old traditions even if we grownups don’t care about them.”
“Whatever,” Leo rolled his eyes, knowing he wouldn’t win that battle.
“Um, if you need extra hands,” Calypso joined the conversation, addressing Jo and Emmie, “I don’t have to go with Leo. I’d love to help too.”
Leo felt a twinge of disappointment because of Calypso’s suggestion. His insecure side yelled that maybe he had misread Calypso’s intentions all along.
“Oh, no, no!” Emmie denied immediately. “You are our guest; we want you to take it easy and enjoy your stay here. I bet Leo’s tour is a lot more fun than us peeling way too many potatoes and carrots for the casserole.”
“I wouldn’t mind peeling potatoes,” Calypso mumbled but Leo’s mothers pretended they didn’t even hear that. The flatmates simply had to accept that they wouldn’t have a chaperone - except maybe Festus - on their tour.
Once the two of them were outside, Leo’s thoughts went back to the time when he had first arrived at Waystation. Back then, he had been only 15, having just escaped from his latest foster home, which had been located far away in New Mexico. His foster family there had hidden their opinion on him very badly, giving him sly remarks about his looks and telling him to speak clearer English even though Leo’s English had always been fine, thanks to his real mother allowing him to learn both Spanish and English as a small kid. They had also made him do the hard work such as carrying heavy loads while the other foster kid of the family got the easy tasks. And when he had come home from school with bad grades, the foster parents had commented: “why do we even bother with you?”
At some point Leo had simply had enough, and by selling some of the few belongings he had he had managed to gather just enough money for one plane ticket and so he flew to Indianapolis without telling anything to his foster family.
After living on the streets and successfully dodging the authorities for a couple of weeks, the police finally found him and contacted the local social workers. Thankfully, after Leo put all his convincing skills to use, they agreed to not send him back to New Mexico, instead finding him a new foster family nearby. Leo hadn’t had high expectations because he had been in at least 6 different foster homes since his mother’s death and none of them had been a good match for him. Some had been abusive, some racist, some ignorant, some had had kids who were bullies, some had had alcohol issues… What had been common for them all was that none of them had treated him the way they should have.
That was why Leo had picked some bad habits too; he wanted to drown his feelings somehow and he ended up stealing small amounts of money from his foster family so he could buy alcohol from his older homeless ‘friends’. He had hated how it made him feel afterwards, but it had been the only way he had known how to deal with his issues. At some point he had even had suicidal thoughts because the guilt and trauma from his childhood got so bad he woke up covered in sweat after the same old fire filled nightmare almost every night. And going from foster home to foster home and feeling like none of those people cared what he really did with his life definitely didn’t help him regain his feeling of self worth. He had no future, no plans, no real friends or family and nowhere to go.
Luckily, during his worst phase in his last foster home someone from his homeless group mentioned having a relative in Indiana and that he was hoping to move there at some point in hopes of getting a new start for his life. That idea sparked something in Leo’s mind and when he started planning his big escape, Indianapolis was the first place that he thought of.
When he finally met Jo and Emmie, he was surprised. Seeing them spending time with their then 5-year-old adoptive daughter, he could tell that these women genuinely cared about the little girl and did everything for her wellbeing. Not only that, Jo was a mechanic just like Leo’s real mother and they had also other things in common. With some patience and showing that they cared, simply by making sure that Leo ate, rested and had something to do with his time other than dwelling on his sad past, they eventually won him over. And when Leo discovered thanks to Jo’s help that he himself had the skills to become a mechanic someday as well, he finally had a goal to reach and studying wasn’t quite as big a struggle for him anymore.
Soon, however, Leo became afraid that Jo and Emmie wouldn’t want to keep him around because he still had some bad days when he literally had to be dragged from his bed. He was also worried that maybe the women had heard what he had done in his past and were silently judging him. Instead, they surprised him by telling him that they wanted to officially adopt him much like Georgina because he was a part of their family now. As an added bonus they assigned him for therapy sessions, which really helped and the days when he didn’t want to do anything became less and less. Leo knew he was still a work in progress but this family had helped him so much and he had found his purpose, his home, at Waystation.
Calypso had naturally noticed Leo’s silence so eventually she asked:
“Are you OK? You’re being unusually quiet.”
“Oh, yeah, just dandy!” Leo exclaimed, trying to act more like his usual self. “I was just thinking about the times when I first moved in here.”
“Really? Do you want to tell me more about that?” Calypso asked curiously.
“I guess it won’t hurt.” Leo shrugged. “I don’t remember if I’ve told you that I was in a lot of foster homes before I got here. Well, my last foster parents were really shitty people and I was this close to… I dunno, doing something desperate. So I decided to just leave and ended up here in Indianapolis. I, um, was homeless for a bit but when the social workers got me into their hands they found me a new family, Jo and Emmie. At first they were supposed to only foster me for a time being but they ended up adopting me instead. I… haven’t told this to anyone, but they probably saved my life by doing that. The Leo from that time was far from the Super-Sized McSizzle that I am now,” he attempted to joke, but Calypso ignored that. Instead, she said:
“I’m sorry you had to go through that… but I’m glad you opened up about it to me.” Leo’s heart did an extra jump when he saw Calypso smiling at him supportingly. He would never get used to that. “And I’m glad Jo and Emmie adopted you.”
“Yeah, me too… When I first saw the place I was like, ‘wow, I wish I could stay here’. Obviously the people here are awesome - they are my family - but that wasn’t the only thing the 15-year-old me cared about. The cars and other machines Jo was fixing? So cool. I had only seen something like that at my childhood home and the nostalgia hit me like ‘boom’ right away.”
“I should have known it was the machines that convinced you to stay here,” Calypso teased, but Leo knew her already too well to get provoked by that.
“Nah. I mean, they’re neat and all, but Jo and Emmie did the actual convincing.”
“Okay, I believe you. So, was Jo’s garage what made you want to become a mechanical engineer?” Calypso asked.
“I guess the spark was always there but it took me a while to convince myself that I should try to pursue that goal. But when I started going to school again regularly – long story, don’t ask – I noticed that the sciences were easy for me, I was also decent enough at drawing – which of course helps with the blueprints and stuff – and Jo let me try fixing some of the simpler machines she had and turned out I wasn’t half bad. It was Jo and Emmie who kept pushing me to apply for the uni, though, because they believed in me more than I did. I’m thankful that they did it but… sometimes I still doubt...” Leo hadn’t talked about his insecurities even to his adoptive mothers so he felt that the fact that he was able to open up about it to Calypso was a big deal.
“I’ve seen you fix countless items,” Calypso said slowly. “I’ve noticed that you’re always… so different when you’re fiddling with your machines. More relaxed. Calmer. Surer of what you do. And your eyes sparkle and you hum some old school rock song while you work and I can just tell that you’re exactly where you’re supposed to be.”
Leo had to avert his eyes from her because he was afraid he would do something stupid like cry if he looked at her too long in that moment. No matter how encouraging his family, friends and the therapist were… it was still hard to get used to the compliments. And if he was honest to himself, he probably valued Calypso’s opinion more than anyone else’s at that point.
“Wow… umm… I don’t know how to answer that…” He rubbed the back of his neck.
“A simple thank you would probably do,” Calypso replied. “But know that I mean what I say. Now, how about you show me that famous garage?”
Leo did as he was told. He introduced Calypso to all the tools and machinery they used to fix whatever item the customer happened to bring in. He had a feeling that Calypso probably didn’t have any idea what he was talking about half the time because he tended to get very technical with the terms when he got excited, but she still seemed content listening to him. At least she wasn’t telling him to stop, which was definitely a plus.
To Leo’s surprise, Calypso went to the table where he and Jo used to draw their blueprints and asked him if she could see how he did it because she hadn’t seen his blueprints before. He complied, taking a pencil and a piece of blank paper from the stack and looking at Calypso questioningly.
“What do you want me to draw, then? I may have some experience on this but even I need some ideas first…”
“You can draw whatever you like. How about Festus?” Calypso requested.
“Festus?” Leo tapped the pencil against his chin for a moment, considering Calypso’s request. “Hmm, as you wish, Sunshine.”
He started making fast, swift motions on the paper and it didn’t take him very long to finish the sketch. Sure, the lines were a bit rough, but Calypso told him she was very impressed by how accurately he remembered even the little details, such as a dark spot on Festus’ back, how the tail curved when he was happy, and how he was missing a tiny piece of the tip of his left ear.
Leo felt a bit embarrassed by the praise. “It just comes with me hanging out with him so much. Nothing more to it, really.” He looked at the sketch for a moment. “Hold on, I feel like this is missing something. Can you look towards that window for a moment?”
“What, why?” Calypso asked, but turned anyway.
“Just adding something real quick,” Leo replied and started sketching again. He wondered if it was the lighting of the room but he thought Calypso’s cheeks seemed a bit darker than usual and she kept looking at the floor shyly. When he realized that he’d probably feel the same way if she was drawing him, he himself got flustered and decided to try to finish the drawing as quickly as possible. Within minutes he had drawn her next to Festus, playing with him, wearing the same holiday sweater and jeans she currently was.
“Can I see?” Calypso asked.
“Uh, yeah, sure.” Leo gave the picture to her. “It’s not detailed or anything but I tried.”
Calypso kept staring at it for a moment. “Leo… this looks great! I mean, I don’t think I am that pretty but I am quite amazed that you managed to do this that fast!”
Leo wanted to say that there was no way the picture did her justice but he knew that would be a never ending debate so instead he told her: “It’s the experience, Sunshine. When you draw hundreds of blueprints you learn to be fast.”
Calypso turned her attention to the drawing again. “Can I get it?” she asked after a while.
“Why?”
“Because Festus looks cute, you weirdo. That’s a good enough reason, right?”
“Fine, you can have it. I’m not sure where I’d put it anyway.” Leo shrugged. He wasn’t sure why Calypso possibly hanging the picture on her wall made him feel a bit weird. In a good way, though.
Once the two of them left the garage, Leo pointed at a smaller building next to the ‘main’ one. A couple of pointy ears were peeking from the upstairs windows. “That’s where our foster animals live. I think the kid me wished on some level that I could have a pet but my mom could never afford one… but Jo and Emmie have been fostering rescue cats and dogs even before I got here. One of them was Festus’ mum; she was pregnant when she arrived here. When she had her puppies, I noticed that one of them was a bit of an outsider and we instantly formed a bond. Jo and Emmie allowed him to stay here even though he sure would have had adopters.”
“That was really sweet of them,” Calypso commented. “Can we see who’s in there right now?”
“Sure but we should probably let Emmie know about it because she’s pretty strict about who can go in. She may ask us to wear ‘bunny suits’; some of the animals may be sick and we don’t wanna spread the bugs around.”
“No problem, let’s go see her then.”
When Emmie heard what Leo and Calypso were about to do, she promised to stop her Christmas chores for a while so she could show them (mainly Calypso) around in the rescue house. Currently she was fostering two young puppies who had been found on the streets without their mother, a mother cat with her 4 kittens who were getting close to their adoption age, and an older cat with some kidney issues who seemed to however adore the little kittens.
Leo was watching Calypso’s reactions closely as Emmie was introducing her to the kittens. Soon one of the braver kittens climbed on the girl’s lap, giving her a tiny ‘meow’ and then started nuzzling against her sleeve.
“Aww, look Leo! He loves me,” Calypso exclaimed, smiling widely as the kitten started purring loudly on her lap while she pet him. ‘He’s not the only one,’ Leo thought in his mind. Aloud he asked: “Why do you sound so surprised?”
“I guess because I’ve never really handled cats so I didn’t know how they’d react to me…” Calypso noted more seriously. But then the happiness returned to her face. “You know, this one reminds me of you! He also has long, black hair like you and fierce eyes.”
“Fierce?” Leo raised his eyebrow. “That’s what you think of me?”
Calypso seemed to want to explain but with Emmie in the room she didn’t go to details. “Um, maybe? Hey, look! Another one is coming!”
This time a small ginger kitten was approaching her and Calypso extended her arm so the kitten could sniff her. The group kept making small talk about the cats in the room and continued snuggling them, but Leo’s eyes were on Calypso the whole time. He could see how happy she was about such a simple thing as kittens and it made him feel lighter, warmer again, even though he had just remembered some very bad times a few moments earlier. Maybe all of it had been meant to happen, he wondered briefly. After all, it led him here, to his family… and Calypso.

Survey #440
from a day or two ago.
Do you drink a lot of soda? I definitely do. :/ I'd lose weight so much easier if I could drop the habit. Are tomatoes the best food in the world? I don't like tomatoes unless they're very fresh and on a mayo and bacon sandwich. Have you seen The Blindside? I actually haven't. Do you have a favorite local pizza place? Not really. There's a place I like that isn't huge, but I don't have like, a serious passion for or loyalty to it. Would you date someone 10+ years older than you? Meh, I think ten years is my cut-off. Are you due for a haircut? For sure. >_< Are you dealing with any health-related problems right now? Yeah. Even with my APAP mask, because I apparently move it too much in my sleep, I'm struggling with my sleep apnea nightmares/terrors. Do your parents like the music you listen to? Most of it. Do your parents approve of your beliefs? Not all of them, no. How many different digital cameras have you owned in your life? How about cell phones? Cell phones, idk. I've had two "pro" cameras. Do you typically do your make up the same each time? Or do you like to change it up often? It's pretty much always the same. Who is the last person you were in a room with just the two of you? What were you doing? Mom. We worked together on my room. What do you usually order at Subway? Turkey, bacon, American cheese, pickles, banana peppers, and chipotle on I want to say Italian bread. How long is your mother’s hair? It's hard to say, because it's all poofy now versus wavy like before it had to be shaved off. Don't repeat it to her ever, but she has, uh... "old lady hair" now, ha ha. What is your favourite car brand? I don’t care. Whose chore is it to clean the bathrooms in your house? My mom does it. Pick your three favourite fruits. Strawberries, kiwi, and uhhh... apples. Or pineapple. Have you ever played Cards Against Humanity? Yeah. We used to play that a lot at Colleen's house on nights we had some drinks. Who were the last friends you went to hang out with? Oh jeez, idk. I haven't hung out with a friend in a long time. How many chairs are in the room you’re currently in? Zero. I'm in my bedroom. Are you bored right now? I'm bored almost every waking hour of my days. Have you ever seen a pelican in real life? I'm actually not sure. What’s important about April? My younger sister's birthday is in April. Is there anyone who hates you? Jason probably does. Would you consider adoption? Not for me personally. What’s the largest animal you’ve ever had as a pet? Our late boxer mix. Do you own any kind of helmet? No. Do you ever put fruit on your cereal? Noooo. How do you usually celebrate your favorite holiday? My younger sister comes over here and we open our presents with Mom, who also cooks a nice breakfast. We then go to my older sister's house for the day to watch the kids open presents from their extended family. I say "extended" because the kids obviously aren't going to wait for us to get there to open the majority of their gifts from their parents, ha ha. What’s a few facts about the last person that talked to you? She's from New York, has five kids, has survived cancer (one almost advanced to a fatal level) twice, she loves owls, and recently graduated with her bachelor's in social work (it's never too late, people). What would happen if you had a baby with the last person you kissed? We're both cisgender females. Where is the biggest scar on your body? It's probably where I had a cyst removal, which is in a spot I can't see. Would you date someone who was addicted to drugs? Absolutely not. I am NOT getting involved in that. If you could go back and change something in the past 5 months, would you? I'd go to the gym sooner. Have you ever kissed anyone with a tattoo? Hmmm... I think Tyler actually may have had a The Legend of Zelda tattoo? I can't really remember. If not him, then no. Have you ever kissed someone you weren’t dating? No, but I've been kissed by someone I wasn't dating. Do you know anyone who drinks a lot? Yes. What were you afraid of the most when you were a kid? Being separated from/losing my mom. Do you like to make the first move? No. When was the last time you completely broke down? A few weeks ago when I was having a PTSD episode. Are you listening to any music? No; I'm watching Gab play Final Fantasy X. Is your hair long enough to put in a ponytail? No. Has someone ever told you they want to spend the rest of their life with you? Hm, it's funny, I don't see him anymore. Have you ever peed in the woods? No. Have you ever played Twister? Yeah, I liked playing it as a kid. Are you looking for a boyfriend//girlfriend? Not actively, no. I really don't need one right now. Out of all of your friends who have you gotten in the worst fight with? Of all friends I've EVER had, probably Colleen. Of the friends I still have, maybe Sara. What is the last microwaveable meal you had? I've been on a SERIOUS grilled chicken pesto kick lately. Mom buys these small Healthy Choice (or some brand like that) bowls that you put in the microwave and then pour the noodles and chicken into the sauce after and mix, and oh my GOOOOOOOOOOOD it is so good. What would you consider a talent of yours? Assuming the worst out of every imaginable situation. If Hogwarts was a real place and you were able to attend, what class do you think you’d excel at? According to those little quizzes I've taken, I lean mostly towards Hufflepuff, but with Gryffindor traits as well. Would you rather learn more about space or more about the ocean? Well, ideally, space, but I think learning much more about our ocean would be more beneficial to our planet and our prosperity on Earth. Do you have a mental illness? If yes, how have you learned to cope with it? If no, do you ever suspect you may have one? I have a lot. My bipolarity, OCD, and PTSD are *mostly* under control, but I most certainly still have trouble sometimes. My anxiety and AvPD are still rabid fucking hounds. My depression was well-managed not even that long ago, but life circumstances have it so it's been more aggressive than what was usual. Do you have a favorite character from The Avengers? I dunno, I like Loki ig. Thor is cool, too. It's been WAY too long since I've seen that movie. What type of cake would you like right now? Double chocolate cake sounds great rn. @_@ What was your dream job when you were a child? Are you going after that dream or not? Why? Paleontologist, and no, because I don't want to travel for work, and I could also never handle the heat during site excavations. Even though it may not work all the time, what usually helps make you feel better when you’re upset or down? Watching one of my comfort series on YouTube from channels I enjoy. Why do you personally take surveys? It's a method to just get all these thoughts out of my head and to vent when I need to without actually directly burdening someone with my problems. No one has to read 'em. It's purely for my benefit, and also to pass the time, which I have too much of. Are there any words that you can’t stand? Derogatory terms for certain groups of people. What are words that you love? Words like "serendipity," "bliss," joyous, bubbly words. I'm blanking on actual terms. If you had an endless supply of money for clothing only, what would you load your closet with? Ohhhh, lots of shit with studs and spikes. :') I've wanted a studded leather jacket since I was in middle school. Have never gotten one because of how pricey they are. :( I'd also get some KILLER boots and just obtain a more gothic wardrobe. I'd love corsets too if my body ever shrinks back to a point I'd be comfortable wearing well-made ones. What is your favorite type of cookie? Chocolate chip. What is your favorite type of candy? Strawberry Sour Punch Straws. What color would you like to paint your nails next? I don't paint my nails. Realistically, they probably won't be 'til my entirely hypothetical wedding, in which case they'll probably be black. What do you think is creepy that society accepts as normal? Urinals, alsdkfja;klwejr. Like I get men's bathrooms give the option of using a stall, but still... side-by-side urinals are so weird and a breach of privacy to me. What is the silliest secret about yourself that you sometimes feel the need to hide? That I enjoy forum RP. I tell NOBODY because I fear being judged and found as weird. Like seriously, in my "real" life, maybe two people know. What do you think is a good date other than dinner and a movie? I want a picnic date really bad kalj;dkl;jwe. Do you dread certain days of the week? If yes, what day/s and why? No. They're all very similar. Do you ever give money to homeless people? No, admittedly. Mom instead likes to sometimes offer them bottles of water or if she's really feeling generous, a cheap meal at like McDonald's or something. She doesn't like to hand out money because, well, we know what a vast majority of homeless people spend it on. Do you like to brag or are you modest? I get really uncomfortable bragging, so I try to be as modest as I can be. What your favourite thing to have on toast? I love giving it a light toast, then adding a thin layer of butter, cinnamon, and sugar. It's bomb. Do you know how to surf? Would you ever like to learn? No to either. If you eat oatmeal, do you have it plain or do you have certain toppings that you like to add to it? I love sprinkling some sugar in there. Would you prefer to spend time with your whole family all at once, or would you rather quality time with one family member at a time? Depends on what I feel up to, but I tend to enjoy family time as a group more. That way, I don't have TOO much pressure to be constantly social. I can just listen sometimes. What is the funniest or strangest thing you’ve ever heard somebody say in their sleep? I have no idea. I worry what people have heard ME say/scream in my sleep. Do you own a pair of slippers? Yeah, they're meerkat ones! :') Choose one: Butterfinger, Milky Way, Snickers: Absolutely a Milky Way. Who was the last person to comment you? My mom. I'm cool, I swear. How many arguments have you had with the last person you kissed? A lot over all these years, but I'd say that's normal when you've been friends since you were 8 and 10. Do you know anyone who has been arrested? Yes. What are you planning on doing after this? When I'm done taking this survey, I'll probably either go to bed or play a bit of WoW. Idk. Will you be up before 7 am tomorrow? I have my alarm set for 7, actually. Ever been the only one trying to fix a relationship? Mhmmmm. -_- What was the last bad thing that happened to your phone? The case that came with the phone got a big crack in it. Have you ever been with someone while they were throwing up? Absolutely not. I would start vomiting. I can't handle the sound or the act in general. Have you been to the beach this year? No; I haven't been in a long time, and I am noooot complaining. Have you ever skipped school just because you were tired? Yes. Are you tan? God no. Do you own any leather? No real leather, no. I never would. Have you ever bought a shot glass? No. Do you have a therapist? Yes. We actually just talked today. Well, technically yesterday. What’s the worst name your mom has ever called you? I don't know. She doesn't really call me bad names. Have you ever listened to Christian music? Not of my own volition, but I've heard it because of other people controlling the radio. Are you the ‘creative child’? Yes, I'm considered that one. Did you like your life when you were in middle school? God no. That's when everything started going downhill. Have you ever been 'popular’? No. Has someone ever tried to convert you? Yes. Are you a fan of muffins? I LOVE muffins. What’s your most recent obsession? It's kinda chilled out now, but when Resident Evil 8: Village released, I was CRAZY over it. I watched SO many different let's plays of it. I think it's safe to say it beats out RE4 as my favorite installment.

ok questions for you BUT directed at WTI (if that's okay with you)
1, 2, 3, 4, 7, 11, & 13
1. If you had to create a soundtrack for your story, what songs would you choose? Why?
Okay, so... a better question would be what songs wouldn't I choose. Since WTI is intended to be a six book series, each novel has a particular vibe to it that I'd like to be reflected in the soundtrack. There's also that Lina is absolutely the kind of main character who can't be defined by any one thing, and the music would have to reflect that. For book one, The Wraithtouched Inheritance, I'd like the soundtrack to feel like an epic journey of discovery with a hint of danger - I don't have any songs off the top of my head that particularly encapsulate that. Perhaps the closest thing I can think of is the Dark Elf theme from Dragon Age Inquisition: Trespasser, which builds itself up as you go through the DLC's story. If you'd like to listen to that, this version has all the buildup.
2. What's your favorite relationship in your story?
HMMM. Probably my absolute *favorite* is the relationship between Lina and [redacted]. However, Lina and Kate comes a close second. They're eternal rivals, and I don't mean in the Kakashi and Gai way. They loathe each other, and make no bones of it, but there's still a certain amount of camaraderie there. In book one, there's a scene where a midnight emergency means Kate ends up in public without her prosthetic legs, but Lina doesn't even consider saying anything cruel about it. In book three, there's a scene where Kate discovers someone's been using Lina to get closer to her, and the person doing it is someone who could give Kate all sorts of things that she wants... and she not only turns her back on them, she lambasts them for their behavior. In short, they're enemies, but they respect each other, and I love it.
3. If you had to direct a scene from your fic, what would you choose? Why? What would it look like? What techniques would you use to convey certain emotions? What would the set look like?
I'd have to choose the scene that originally inspired all of WTI, no contest. It started out as a snippet of a dream that utterly enraptured me, and I'd love for the filmed scene to feel dreamy and realistic in the same way.
It takes place in the forest surrounding Zone 124, in a tiny room in the roots of a massive tree; light streams through cracks in the root-roof, illuminating a girl screaming at her queen, her best friend by her side and her queen's husband by hers. Everything feels natural and gnarled and old. Rocks and branches are furniture and decoration. A tiny stream of water runs along the edge of the room, adding a murmur of noise beneath Lina's anger and Guin's replies. Many of the shots are wide shots, emphasizing the disparity between the natural beauty of the area and the fight going on in the middle of it. When the climax of the scene happens, it moves to much tighter shots, focusing on Lina and Guin's actions. The very last shot pans out, following them as they return to the safety of 124, Lina unconscious in Guin's arms.
4. What is your main character's motivations? What do you consider their main drivers?
Lina wants to be a hero. Straight up, unapologetically, she wants to be a legend, the kind of historical figure that people don't just gloss over; she wants her actions to ring through history. But...
she also wants a family. Her mother, a relatively high-ranking soldier, went out to fight the Null too soon after giving birth because she thought they'd killed her husband. It only got her killed. Lina's father, officially, is still only MIA, but people consider him KIA. Her adoptive family was never cruel, or even truly unkind, but she never felt like they were really her family.
7. Who is the most important person to your character(s)? Why?
It's absolutely Adan, and later, Spiegel. Adan was her first real friend, and the only person who's never failed her. He's always there, always ready to help, and though he's got a mischievous streak, he's also held her back from getting herself in trouble quite a lot.
Spiegel and Lina start off rather at odds with each other, but they end up being friends because of how different they are. They fight often, over all sorts of things, and usually at the top of their lungs, but they've always got each other's back. They also both delight in torturing Adan, because they're far more prone to overblown mischief than he is, and he despairs of ever getting them to pay attention and be good.
The other Most Important Person is [redacted] and I shan't spoil.
11. What's the importance of sex to your character (s)? What's its role in the relationship shared between your central character and their partner?
Okay, so, this one's actually a little awkward to answer since Lina starts out at 11 in book one, so I'm going to be answering all of this question for a post book six Lina.
Lina enjoys sex, but she enjoys romance more. She's pan, much like me, but she refuses to have Intimate Relations with someone who has not given her the appropriate romantic treatment. That doesn't mean she's high maintenance, or that she requires flowers and jewelry. What it does mean is that she's not going to have sex with someone who hasn't shown her the proper consideration. There's no date requirement, no real threshold per se, but she wants to know her partner values her as much as she does them. So maybe they drive across town to save her from a spider after working a ten hour shift, or maybe they buy her a dollar store trinket with money they didn't really have to spare; romantic romance, for Lina, is being cared for.
As for partners.... Lina actually doesn't have any (long term) romantic partners throughout all six books. One of the books is actually focused on romance, but in an unusual way; rather than being about the act of romance, it's... about how you should focus on yourself first, and any romantic partner that makes you completely change who you are probably isn't a good idea. I specifically want the series to end with her single and fine with it because I don't want to further perpetrate the idea that you're broken if you're twenty and single.
13. What is a fight had between your characters that has impacted their relationship the most?
That's... a hard one. I'm not sure, to be honest. Probably the biggest fight that I've already written is the fight in book one where Adan finds out Lina's been keeping a secret, or in book two, where they find out Spiegel's home situation isn't the best.

AU Thursday: Fallout of Darkness -- Another Meme
I unfortunately don’t recall where I got this one, though I do remember picking it up in the #fallout 4 tag -- I think a number of people were using it for their Sole Survivors. Which is what I did! With the added twist of “let me do this universe’s Alice as well!” So you get double the information for the same price! :P
Note: This is vaguely set I’d say about halfway through the plot of Fallout 4 -- Victor and Alice have had the run-in with Ug-Qualtoth and gotten Alice sunlight immunity (see this post for more details), and they’ve met at least most of the other companions. Also yes, pets -- Victor does indeed adopt the “wounded dog” encounter in my verse! (And if anyone knows of a mod that lets you send her to a settlement for real. . .) Please remember I haven’t actually played much of the main plot myself, so things may be a little vague/prone to changing once I get further in!
name ➔
V: Victor Fitzwilliam Van Dort – my mother wanted me to have an "aristocratic" middle name, for some reason.
A: Alice Pleasance Liddell – yes, just like the historical Alice. I guess after Lizzie decided I should be "Alice," my parents decided to go whole hog with the reference.
are you single ➔
V: [with a warm look at Alice] No, I'm not.
A: [with a warm look back] Not anymore.
are you happy ➔
V: [still with that warm look at Alice] Very much so.
A: [smiling] A lot happier than I was in the past, that's for sure. Which is kind of sad, given it's post the nuclear apocalypse now. . .
are you angry ➔
V: [thoughtful] I – I was for a while. Not so much anymore – the worst of it has cooled. But – there's some things I think I'll always be angry about.
A: I think my answer's about the same. Given some of the nonsense we've been through, some low-level anger is just to be expected, honestly.
are your parents still married ➔
V: . . .they were when the bombs dropped.
A: Mine were when that bastard Bumby set our house on fire to cover up what he'd done to my sister.
NINE FACTS
birthplace ➔
V: Burtonsville – it's a tiny village in England. I don't actually remember it, though – my parents moved to Boston when I was only about a year and a half old. I grew up here in Boston and the surrounding area.
A: Oxford, England – my father was the Dean of Christ Church at the college when he was alive. I have fond memories, but I haven't been back since the fire.
hair color ➔
V: Black. Mother occasionally insisted it was dark brown, but – black.
A: Black, though weirdly I actually was almost a redhead as a child. It darkened straight through brown to this as I grew up. I've never been sure why it got so dark, though I suspect all that time lying in Rutledge, getting probably-inadequate nutrition and light for a growing girl, didn't help matters.
eye color ➔
V: Dark brown.
A: Green, though Victor likes being poetic with descriptions like "emerald fire" sometimes.
mood ➔
V: . . .er – generally anxious? Trying to be helpful regardless?
A: Sarcastic? To hide that I'm more worried than I let on?
gender ➔
V: Male, he/him.
A: Female, she/her.
summer or winter ➔
V: Summer – I'm not a fan of the cold. Though spring's my actual favorite season – I love seeing everything come back to life.
A: I feel like I should like winter more, because of the longer nights, but now that we've actually fixed the sunlight issue. . .yes, summer. I'm not really a fan of the cold either.
morning or afternoon ➔
V: Afternoon – I've never been that much of a morning person, and mornings tend to be – stressful in the Commonwealth.
A: To be fair, so are the afternoons, but – yes, generally you're not dealing with threats still wiping the sleep from your eyes in said afternoons. And in my case, they're closer to night, which is still the time when I feel most myself, so. . .
EIGHT THINGS ABOUT YOUR LOVE LIFE
are you in love ➔
V: [exchanging a very warm look with Alice] Yes.
A: [giving it right back] Very much so.
do you believe in love at first sight ➔
V: Maybe not true love, but attraction? A sense of connection, kinship? Certainly – that's how I felt when I first met Victoria, and later Emily.
A: I can get behind that – my mother said she felt a pull toward my father when they first met. . .but I don't think love at first sight exists. You need to get to know someone – form a solid bond first.
who ended your last relationship ➔
V: [darkly cheerful] The American and Chinese governments, throwing nuclear missiles at each other! [sighing] No, that’s not quite fair – yes, they drove us into Vault 111, but the ones who actually murdered my wife and girlfriend were Kellogg and the Institute. The former more obviously than the latter, but. . . [voice cracks] Damn it, what was wrong with putting everyone's life support back on. . .
A: [puts a comforting hand on his arm] In my case, I never really had a romantic relationship before – even friendships were kind of fleeting, or long-distance. I've gone along with flirtations in the past to get meals, sure, but none of those ever turned into relationships. The closest I had was – well, Heather getting blood-bonded to me, which I didn't even mean to do. I was just trying to help her, and I didn't realize at the time. . . [bites her lip] I ended that – sent her away before she could get hurt by my enemies, explaining that what would make me happiest would be for her to be with her grandmother and stay in college. I wanted to go back and maybe try to help her some more once I was done with LaCroix's bullshit, but then. . .I hope she had a good life, in the end.
have you ever broken someone’s heart ➔
V: Not knowingly – goodness, what started off my, Victoria, and Emily's threesome relationship was an attempt not to break anyone's heart! It worked out very well, until. . . [shakes his head]
A: [squeezes his arm gently] I probably broke Heather's heart by sending her away – she looked so sad as she walked out the door. But it was for the best – I dread to think what would have happened to her if the Sabbat had realized I had a ghoul! Other than that – depends on if anyone I've drunk from was hoping for more than just a "quickie." I doubt that, though.
are you afraid of commitments ➔
V: I'm afraid of them being forced on me because of people randomly promoting me every time I even get close to an organization. [sighing, reaching up to fiddle with a chain around his neck] But – maybe a little. Seeing – seeing your wife get shot in front of you. . .then your girlfriend's half-rotted corpse beside her. . .it sticks with you.
A: [nods] Being the only survivor of the house fire that killed your family sticks with you too. As does two of the most prominent men in your life being the bastard who killed them and was trying to wipe your mind, and the bastard who killed you and turned you into a bloodsucker. Add in my own rather unromantic nature, and – yes, I did pretty much avoid commitments for a while. [smiles at Victor] I think I'm a little better about it now, though.
have you hugged someone in the last week ➔
V: Oh, yes – Preston and Piper just the other day, in fact!
A: I'm not usually much of one for being touched, so I don't hug much. . . [thinks for a moment, then hugs Victor] But I'll happily make the answer a "yes" in this case.
have you ever had a secret admirer ➔
V: Does the brief period of time where Emily was crushing on me before Victoria noticed and decided to let her and me know it was okay if we wanted to date too count? Otherwise, I really don't think so. I wasn't popular with girls before meeting Victoria.
A: Bumby never made it clear whether he wanted to just turn me into a prostitute or fuck me himself as well, but I wouldn't count him anyway, because he was a horrible waste of flesh. So I have no idea – don't think so. Heather was – very open about her admiration.
have you ever broken your own heart ➔
V: Again, what happened between me, Victoria, and Emily was an attempt to avoid that. . .I can't say I have. It seems like others always break it for me.
A: Sending Heather away did hurt me a bit – not in the same way it hurt her, but it was nice to have someone else around the haven. . . [looks up at Victor] And I did resist romance initially here. Fortunately tall, dark, and handsome here didn't let me break my own heart.
SIX CHOICES
love or lust ➔
V: Love, definitely. [going pink] I mean, lust can be nice, but. . .
A: Love – even alive, I wasn't particularly interested in sex. And as a vampire, any urges that way now go toward sucking on people's necks. Which I guess is sex-adjacent, but still. . . Maybe "love" for serious relationships, "lust" for getting a meal.
lemonade or iced tea ➔
V: Oh, I haven't had either in ages. . .and I recall needing a lot of sugar for both to enjoy them. . .I guess lemonade. I think I had that more often.
A: Literally can't drink either these days, for multiple reasons. . .but I'm going with lemonade because I have fonder memories of that. And – hmmm. I wonder if it’s possible to make a variation with that “plasma fruit” Ted came up with at Wildwood Cemetery. . .
cats or dogs ➔
V: Dogs! I had a dog growing up, Scraps, who was my best friend! And Victoria, Emily, and I were going to get a dog shortly after. . . [pause, shakes head] And now I have Dogmeat and Mutt! They’re a good pair.
A: Cats! My best friends growing up were the family cat, Dinah, and her two kittens, Snowdrop and Kitty. Being a vampire does tend to make animals rather mistrustful of me, sadly, but I had some luck feeding ferals pre-War. And we managed to trap a cat recently who didn’t immediately try to claw me and run away – I’ve named her Kit-Kat.
a few best friends or many regular friends ➔
V: A few best friends – I'm n-not good with lots of people, and I just. . .I'm always so awkward, s-socially. I'd rather have a couple of people I know I can trust.
A: The same – I don't trust easily, after all the bullshit I've been through. Give me a small circle of people I know have my back over a larger group of more casual friends any day.
wild night out or romantic night in ➔
V: Romantic night in. I'm not much for parties. I like staying home with the people I love and just – being together.
A: Sort of like "love or lust" above, this kind of depends. I like a romantic night in for any actual relationships, but I did my fair share of clubbing to find someone to drink from back in the day.
day or night ➔
V: Well, I do like a good sunny day, but. . . [looking at Alice] I've really come to appreciate the nights in the Commonwealth. And not just because of the stars.
A: [smirking at him] Flatterer. . .but yes, night. For the longest time, it was the only time of day I could be out in. . .and even though it's wonderful now to be able to go out during the day and enjoy that, night is still when I feel most myself.
FIVE HAVE YOU EVERS
been caught sneaking out ➔
Victor: No, but that's because I never did. I grew up in the middle of a plague – I didn't have much incentive to sneak out! It took until I was fourteen for cases to drop enough in our part of Boston for my parents to be comfortable sending me to a school with other children, and by then I was so used to staying at home, sneaking out never occurred to me.
Alice: Oh god, yes, the New Plague, that was horrific. . .on my end, yes, I was. I tried to sneak out a couple of times as a small child to have adventures in the garden late at night or in the middle of storms. . .if my parents didn't catch me, though, my older sister did. I think I only actually got outside once, and even then it was only for a couple of minutes before Lizzie caught up with me. Mostly because she was trying to sneak out too, and didn't want her little sister tagging along.
fallen down/up the stairs ➔
Victor: . . .yes. To both. I – I can be pretty clumsy if I'm n-not paying attention to where I'm going.
Alice: [giving him an odd look] I've fallen down stairs – rushing around as a child on imaginary adventures – but never up. I'm – not entirely sure how you manage that.
wanted something/someone so badly it hurt ➔
V: [tugging at the chain around his neck again, which is revealed to have a blue butterfly pendant and a gold wedding ring strung on it] Yes. Something I can't have, I'm sad to say.
A: [playing with her own necklace, which is an old iron key shaped like the symbol for Venus] Same here. I'd like to think your Victoria and Emily and my parents and Lizzie are in the same place, at least.
wanted to disappear ➔
V: Oh, plenty of times. I have an unfortunate knack for saying the wrong thing and then wishing I could melt into the floor. And – well, I suppose every time I've been hiding from enemies and wanted to just turn invisible counts. . .
A: I wanted to disappear in the asylum a couple of times, in the sense of 'just stop existing.' Survivor's guilt does a number on your brain, let me tell you. . .though I can actually disappear these days, thanks to Obfuscate! Though, annoyingly, I genuinely can't do it if someone's looking.
smile or eyes ➔
V: Oh, back to these? [thoughtful] I – honestly, I think eyes. Victoria and Emily's eyes are one of the things I remember best about them. . . [smiles at Alice] And my current paramour has some of the most beautiful eyes in the Commonwealth.
A: You're going to make me blush despite being dead if you keep on like that. Though, what's good for the goose is good for the gander – while I like your eyes, it's your smile that really warms my undead heart.
shorter or taller ➔
V: Um – shorter out of necessity. I haven't met many women who are six-foot-three.
A: Similarly, I'm five-foot-five, so I kind of have to go taller.
intelligence or attraction ➔
V: . . .I assume this means intelligence or looks, and – I can't deny I like a pretty face, but the main reason I got together with the women I did is because I could hold a good conversation with them. Intelligence.
A: My attraction seems to be based on actually getting to know a person, and I don't suffer fools gladly. Intelligence all the way.
hook-up or relationship ➔
V: Oh, relationship. I never had a hook-up. I can't – I can't just do the "one night stand" thing. I need something a little more.
A: Another one where my actual feelings versus how I'd act to get a meal clash – though admittedly, I never had a "proper" hook-up. I'd just get someone in a quiet spot, suck a bit of blood, and let them get on with their lives. But now that things are better, I'm only too happy to commit myself to a real relationship.
FAMILY
do you and your family get along ➔
V: Well, it’s something of a moot point now, but. . . [he waggles a hand, making a face] I have to admit, I never liked my parents much. They weren’t very “hands-on” in raising me, and I often felt like they considered me a burden. Or a bargaining chip for social status. I did my best not to rock the boat just because upsetting my mother never ended well, but. . . [sigh] It wasn’t good.
A: By contrast, I had a perfectly lovely family life – my parents were kind and encouraged my sister and I in our various pursuits, and Lizzie. . .she was the best older sister a girl could have. I felt like I could tell her anything, and even if the age difference made playing together difficult, she did try whenever she had a spare moment. The reason I have such an “enthusiastic” imagination is because Mama, Papa, and Lizzie never tried to stifle it. I was – I felt so loved and happy the first eight years of my life. . .and then Bumby took it all away. [she looks away] I – it’s not fair.
would you say you have a “messed up life” ➔
V: [completely deadpan] I was frozen at the age of 27 in a vault designed to store people long-term for unknown reasons, and was finally thawed 210 years later, to find my wife and girlfriend dead, my son kidnapped, and the world above having been turned into a wasteland of vicious wildlife, super mutants, and raiders. With parts of it still irradiated because people are STILL launching small nuclear missiles at each other. Also the people who kidnapped my son can apparently make synthetic humans and use them as spies. And in the middle of all this, I’ve somehow ended up the leader of a bunch of little farms and such that composes a ragtag peacekeeping force that is still better than the actual assholes in power armor who have moved in. You tell me.
A: I can top that – turned into a vampire at age 20 after moving to Los Angeles to make sure I was far away from a murder I’d committed, then ended up roaming the world after a literally-explosive end to my time there as everyone’s errand boy. Was in Boston when the bombs dropped and got staked when my hidey-hole collapsed in on me, meaning I too got essentially “frozen” for 210 years, until a raider attacking this fellow here yanked the stake out and I responded by sucking him dry. Leaving me in a post-nuclear apocalypse trying to survive in a world where anyone’s blood might be at least slightly radioactive. Also we discovered that vampires are in fact the result of a little bit of some Lovecraftian horror worshiped by the people over at Dunwich Borers leaking into our world and infecting our souls. So that’s fun.
have you ever run away from home ➔
V: No – again, grew up in a plague, never really wanted to leave the house because of it.
A: I threatened to, once or twice, when upset, but I never followed through. Though I guess my moving to California could be construed as a kind of running away after I killed Bumby. . .but I never thought of Houndsditch as home. Same with Los Angeles, after I left there in the wake of that mess with LaCroix.
have you ever gotten kicked out ➔
V: No, though – sometimes I thought my mother was thinking about it. Whenever my social awkwardness reared its ugly head at one of her parties.
A: My parents were never the sort to do that, and Bumby of course wanted me close at Houndsditch. And I left polite vampire society on my own terms after LaCroix.
FRIENDS
do you secretly hate one of your friends ➔
V: . . .I’m not entirely sure how to classify my relationship with Strong. But I know he thinks more highly of me than I do of him. I – I try to be understanding, but it gets very tiring to listen to him go on about how one day Super Mutants will kill everything.
A: I had to be a lot friendlier to a lot people back in Los Angeles than I would have liked. . .but I don’t think any of them were laboring under the delusion we were actual friends. So no – if I don’t like you, I don’t hide it.
who is your best friend ➔
V: Alice, Preston, and Piper, definitely – they’re the ones I’ve traveled the most with, shared the most with, and just – feel the most comfortable around. [smiles] Oh, and Dogmeat of course.
A: Victor’s definitely my best friend – and frankly, I feel pretty close to Piper and Preston myself. They’re good people. [she smirks] Though Hancock and Nick are definitely the best people to snark with.
who knows everything about you ➔
V: Probably most of the people in the Commonwealth, I’ve had to explain about being frozen and what happened to my son a lot. . .more seriously, I’d say the above three. They’re the people I’m closest to, and the ones I’m most comfortable sharing information with.
A: I don’t know about everything, but – yes, Victor. And probably Piper knows the most after him, given she wanted to interview me for her paper.

Thoughts on a fun way to make a Star Trek/Mass Effect crossover? Or characters interactions cross-series?
like a full crossover? hmmm, certainly it’d be a parallel worlds type situation where I feel in Trek world the Leviathans didn’t evolve and create the Reapers and thus life wasn’t constantly wiped out and that’s why there’s more of an alien populace in the galaxy to explain the stark differences. And then time travel would get involved too since ME takes place before Trek.
So depending on which Trek you’re gonna go with (which for me I can pick any) there’s some wormhole shenanigans going on only what they call wormholes are the dark energy spots that Reapers use in ME time. The crew is investigating them when they go through it and end up in ME time (or if you want the ship accidentally goes through a la Voyager crossing over quadrants).
At first the crew is clearly trying to not get involved but cant resist the chance to explore and learn the differences and when they realize this isn’t their actual past and can interact with the place more, which brings them into contact with the Normandy which has been sent to investigate the strange readings so we get to crew interactions of (which I’ll put under a cut cause it got long):
Spock and/or Tuvok, and Liara discussing the Vulcan Mind Meld versus the Asari meld and coming to the conclusion that they might have a genetic link back
Tali and B’Elanna having a field day comparing notes (and complaining) on what it’s like keeping a ship together when you don’t have all the parts you really need since Tali used to do that with the Quarian ships and B’Elanna does that now
Kirk and Shepard discussing choices made that shape worlds for better or worse despite the best of intentions and geeking out over model ships. You can’t tell me that doesn’t happen.
Bashir and Mordin are the only people able to understand each other in their speed talking and excitedly sharing notes about different aliens.
Worf and Wrex and Grunt immediately start a fight (bonus points for Wrex insulting Worf for sounding like Uvenk whom Dorn voices)
Seven and Legion (in a world where he lives, what do you mean he dies) discussing what it’s like going from a hive mind to being individuals and coming to find yourself and who you are as a person, like Legion clearly was more involved in finding this aspect for his people as opposed to Seven who had it forced on her but they share the desire now to learn and become an individual and protect those they care about
Janeway and Shepard blow something up by accident while trying to investigate something because of course they do
Samara and Deanna sitting down and just discussing life because I feel like these two would be friends and smirking at their friends antics and secretly betting on who’s gonna get into what danger
I actually have a lot of thoughts about paragon!Shepard and Michael being similar characters in the sense of having this burden of the galaxy placed on them and speaking out against things that people refuse to see except for the crew they’re apart of and trying to warn people of a war and do their best to prevent it and bring people together
Tilly and Tali and Gabby together would be a delight I feel, just talking excitedly about everything under the sun. including the sun.
Sulu and Joker arguing who's a better pilot and Sulu being fascinated how Mass Effect fields work when it comes to piloting and Joker proudly explaining it
Sisko tries to adopt Grunt from Shepard (no I’m mostly kidding, I think that Sisko and Shep have a great deal of respect for each other in caring for the crew and having in placed in an almost god like reverence in certain situations and the struggles with that. and then also Sisko brings back baseball to the Mass Effect world. Shepard absolutely hates that)
I figure the EMH would actually be most interested in biotics and the science of that and writing down to make a paper to publish as the first hologram to do so.
Likewise EDI is fascinated with hologram technology that Trek’s have and if the ships have ever developed sentience in any way and if she can incorporate some of that technology into the Normandy to further her own development
I think Kira gets along with Wrex and is angry at Salarians on his behalf once she hears what was done to the Krogan because the genocide of a species hits hard with her
Tilly and Samantha are even worse than Bashir and Mordin at talking so fast no one gets it but them and they very much do enjoy talking to each other
Tom and Steve have shuttle races until they’re ordered back by their bosses because really guys
Geordi has a lot of talks with EDI, some about his friendship with Data and the human side of interacting with a being that’s trying to learn about humanity themselves but most about the ship and the benefits of integration with it that allow you to be aware of everything that’s happening on it
also Data and EDI tell the worst jokes and everyone regrets this
Picard and Thane drink tea together and discuss philosophies and Thane talks about his species old artifacts and how they were lost to his culture and Picard just listens with interest and some ideas on how you could maybe get those back
Jadzia and Jack get along surprisingly well, they have a holodeck fight at one point and Jadzia takes tricorder readings of biotics and then they go out drinking together
on the flip side Ezri and Miranda get along in terms of being forced to live up to unreasonable family expectations (all though far less harsh in Ezri’s case) and having to carve out your own identity and also like...weirdly everyone hating you for no other reason than your character exists
Bev gets into playing poker with Kaidan and Steve and now they’re all trying to beat each other constantly at it
Saru and Liara get along the easiest at first and discuss the wild things their crews get up to and how they eventually just started to go along with the madness
Kasumi keeps trying to steal from Tuvok but can’t manage it and thinks it’s the best challenge she’s had in years. Tuvok just wants to talk to Thane and get back to the Delta Quadrant already captain.
Harry and Jacob get to talking about having to prove themselves and always being looked over and the troubles of trying to get your own command
Bones hates all of this, Kirk what the hell have you done now. That said he and Zaeed get to drinking and talking about the bullshit that comes from space travel. All though Zaeed’s is more about how annoying it is to try to kill someone in it. Bones thinks he’s just over exaggerating and not a mercenary at first.
James keeps showing off for literally everyone and turning things into a competition with whoever he can when it comes to physical activities, he’s still sulking that Data beat him until he finds out that Data is an android and then calls foul on it.
Odo and Zaeed grumble about everything together
B’Elanna and Ashley have a book club that they don’t tell anyone about and share romance novels and poetry while complaining about how everyone doesn’t expect it from them and that’s part of why they don’t tell people those parts of themselves
Uhura gets the translators turned off on the Normandy to listen to everyone’s dialect and language and is quick to pick up on it, she’s especially good with Drell and enjoys conversing with Thane in it
Liara is absolutely freaked out that Deanna sounds like her mother and Deanna is absolutely using this to troll her whenever she can because it amuses her
Grunt and Chekov get into arguments about history of all things despite that people keep pointing out that they’re from alternate worlds and therefore it’s different anyway
Chakwas and Chakotay sit down to talk about what it’s like sorta taking care of the crew and just ridiculous stories of things they’ve put with
Riker at one point talks to Miranda about clones and dealing with someone who is the same genetically as you but isn’t you and do you have a relationship with them or leave them be (they don’t come up with an answer really)
Mordin gets banned from taking samples of other aliens
Nog and Gabby talk one point about being sorta new to the experiences of war and frontline suddenly and the horrors that come with it and share their experiences of being trapped by the Reapers vs being in a Jem’Hadar fight and coming back from that
Guinan doesn’t care much for Javik but they do have one good discussion about what it’s like being one of the last of your species and seeing so many of them die due to a machine race (and worse, converted to serve that race) that you just can’t fight back against no matter how much you try (or that’s what they thought at the time)
Samantha and Spock and Kirk and/or Airiam have strategy game nights and really get into it and Spock will typically leave while Sam and Kirk are still geeking out over it until the morning
Quark is banned from the Normandy point blank
Worf tries to get everyone to appreciate Klingon opera, the only one he manages to get into it are Grunt and Legion
Scotty is especially fascinated with the drive core of the Normandy and talks to Adams about it constantly
Chakotay and James having a boxing match at one point
Jake interviews like everyone and is thinking about turning this experience into a novel and enjoys listening to everyone’s stories
O’Brien and Garrus get caught up in calibrations, can you come back later
okay this literally is getting too long already but I could keep going. I think then there’s a group discussion about the Borgs vs the Reapers and the troubles everyone faces in those fights and a lot of back and forth about things that have worked for one crew that may help someone else out (like the Changeling cure to maybe help the Genophage cure or vice versa)

I want to know all the answers from your 100 question meme
Something you find romantic? Answer whichever #'s you feel comfortable answering; I want to know all your inner musings 😝
cat why do you do this to me
i’ll be sticking them below a readmore, then!
1.  Is a kiss considered cheating? Yes! Unless you’ve communicated with your partner that it’s okay.
2. Have you ever faked an orgasm? Nope
3. If you could have one superpower, what would it be? Hmmm this is a really hard decision. I usually say telepathy, but I like shapeshifting, too. I loved the Animorphs books as a kid, even though I didn’t read them all.
4. Do you think you are going to be rich in 7-8-9 years? Monetarily? Nah. But I like to think I’ll still have strong, rich friendships and I think I’ll have enough money to live comfortably alone.
5.  Tell us some funny drunk story. I just don’t really have one rip. Drunk people are hilarious but normally I’m the DD. I’ve got several pleasant stories, though! There was a time me and my best friend went to a pub and drank cider and played board games and video games until closing time. Afterwards we stopped at an Insomnia cookies, a storm caused the electricity to go out, and we got a half dozen cookies for free. (well, I felt guilty, so I left them a very large tip.)
6.  Why are you no longer together with your ex? I was going through college, it was long distance, and I felt he deserved better. We keep in touch, though.
7.  If you had to choose one way to die, what would it be? Well, painlessly, of old age, in my sleep, of course. But if that’s not an option, out of all the ways of dying, freezing to death seems the most humane. You just get tired, cold, and sleepy, and then you just...don’t wake up.
8.  What are your current goals? Graduate, mostly. Long-term I’d like to live with friends in a big house and my cat, and have enough free time to garden and craft at my leisure, and have the ability to travel wherever I’d like. I’d like to work on a game or movie I’m really passionate about, and I’d love to become a director someday.
9.  Do you like someone? I mean, I like a lot of people, but I assume this means romantically. So, kind of? I find a lot of people attractive and have a ‘if they wanted to date I’d be down’ feeling, but I don’t have serious feelings for anybody specific.
10. Who was the last person to disappoint you? Hmmm I have a terrible memory. Myself, perhaps? I have a really hard time with getting up when my alarms go off. Sleep inertia’s a big problem for me. This has led to me being late to classes and rushing to get ready, which is stressful.
11. Do you like your body? Ehhhh. I guess. It could be improved, like by not having health issues.
12.  Can you keep a diet? Ha! No.
13. If the whole world listened to you right now, what would you say? I hope you have a wonderful day. The universe doesn’t care about us so be excellent to each other!
14.  Do you work? Constantly, every day. I work to learn new things, accomplish school assignments, make money, feed myself...All my life is is working, right now.
15.  If you could choose only one food to eat to the rest of your life, what would it be? Salad! Because anything can be a salad. Tuna salad, fruit salad, salad with salmon...
16. Would you get a tattoo? Oh, absolutely. The only reason I don’t have any is because of money. I have like five small ideas and one very large one that i’d like across my back.
17. Something you don’t mind spending all your money on? Food, my family, and my friends.
18. Can you drive? Yes. Do I have a license? No.
19. When was the last time someone told you you were beautiful? Probably sometime in the past month by my mother, but she’s just about the only person who does.
20. What was the last thing you cried for? asdfjal;ksdjfs it was Treasure Planet. Jim and Silver’s relationship is just [clutches chest] so beautiful.
21. Do you keep a journal? Sort of, sporadically.
22.  Is life fun? Yes!
23.  Is farting in front of people irrelevant? I mean, I prefer you excuse yourself, but more or less yeah.
24.  What’s your dream car? My sib got this really nice Prius used at a good price, and it has a lot of room and it’s a hybrid, so Nice. I don’t tend to pay much attention to cars, as long as they’re comfortable and low-waste.
25. Are grades in school important? I admit that they’re important to me, but that’s something I have to unlearn. My worth isn’t determined by other people.
26. Describe your crush. Ugh. I’m bi, guys. I get crushes on people all the time, every day. Saw this really pretty redhead in the cafeteria over a month ago, and I saw her again yesterday. She’s a couple inches taller than me and has really pretty curly hair, but I didn’t really, like, stare, so I couldn’t describe her face well past ‘cute nose’.
27. What was the last book/movie that really impressed you? Nothing jumps to mind. I guess I’m still falling over myself after seeing Mad Max back in like 2015, that was just the coolest experience ever. I find delight in just about every movie I watch, though. The second Jumanji-sequels movie was just as fun and amazing as the first. Klaus was just incredible in so many ways.
28.  What was your last lie? I...really just do not remember. Probably telling myself “I’m gonna do my laundry today” a few days ago? Whereas I DID do my laundry today so HA
29. Dumbest lie you ever told? I saved this question for last and it’s late and I honestly can’t remember anything, asdjls sorry. My memory’s awful y’all.
30. Is crying in front of people embarrassing? Oh absolutely. I mean it wouldn’t be if they weren’t uncomfortable with it, but they always are.
31.  Something you did and you are proud of? I did my laundry today? washed dried folded and everything. I also braved the nighttime neighborhood around my school to solo a Pokemon raid, which was cool. I’m proud of my animation done at the end of the last semester, and of how my teddy bear modelling is doing this week.
32. What’s your favourite cocktail? How am I supposed to choose this? How can you ask me to choose this? I’d have to line them all up and try one by one, honestly, before I could tell you.
33.  Something you are good at? I’m pretty good at drawing anatomy and expressions, I think. I’m good at baking/cooking, although I lack creativity in the kitchen. I also think I’m a pretty good listener, and a good friend?
34.  Do you like small kids? Most of the time!
35.  How are you feeling right now? Frankly, a little drained with all these questions, but determined to finish them. I’m a little hungry. I’ve got a lot on my mind, and wish I was doing homework, but I also can’t get myself to do it right now.
36.  What would you name your daughter/son? Not sure! Every once in a while I’ll be like “ooh, that’d be a great name” and then don’t remember to write it down. Besides, I plan on adopting, and most kiddos already have names.
37.  What do you need to be happy? Money, friends, family, good food, and a place to explore.
38.  Is there some you want to punch in the face right now? Not particularly. No one other than, well. The rich people I’m pretty sure everyone knows I dislike.
39.  What was the last gift you received? Well, anything my mom cooks for me is a gift, but the last Proper gift was from my friend @ wefflebugs , who got me a blu-ray copy of Into the Spiderverse and some coffee for Christmas  c:
40.  What was the last gift you gave? I gave my sibling @ aconfusedbird a keychain of one of the two Bubble Bobble dragons and kept the other for myself, for their birthday. Handmade from Perler beads. We’d play that game for ages as kids, and we always fought over who’d be the blue one.
41.  What was the last concert you went to? I think it was The Shins? They were so awesome!
42.  Favourite place to shop at? Well, I quite like Target. But I also adore small resale shops. They always have some really awesome things hiding there.
43. Who inspires you? Oogh, a lot of people. Like a million and a half artists I’ve met online, ones I only know their screenname for, inspire me to get better at art. James Baxter and Sergio Pablos inspire me to get better at animation. Wefflebugs’ art always has such lovely colors, which I adore. featherdragon15′s art has gotten a lot better lately, and that inspires me to keep working hard too! Not to mention they’re working for nasa which is rad af, and also inspires me to keep working toward my dreams. My sibling aconfusedbird inspires me a Lot in a lot of personal ways, like to be more kind to myself and to keep moving forward. My mom inspires me to keep gardening. roachpatrol/roach-works inspired me to get into welding, lizardlicks inspired me into wanting chickens and a small homestead. My teachers inspire me to keep working hard in school.
44. How old were you when you first got drunk? 19, I think? I’ve only gotten properly drunk once. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to eat another boiled peanut, but other than that it wasn’t a problem lol.
45. How old were you when you first got high? I haven’t, actually. I don’t have a reason not to or anything, but it’s just never felt like the right vibe yanno?
46.  How old were you when you first had sex? I guess it really depends on your definition. Personally, I’d say I haven’t yet.
47. When was your first kiss? Well, I played spin the bottle when I was seventeen, which was technically my first kiss, but if that doesn’t count then it was about a week before I turned eighteen, and I kissed the guy who’d become my first boyfriend.
48.  Something you want to do until the end of this year? Play video games....I wish I had infinite time to play video games and watch movies and draw and just...enjoy my time on earth, you know? Without feeling like it had a deadline.
49. Is there something in the past you wish you hadn’t done? I try not to live with regrets.
(50 is ‘post a selfie’ but im on a computer)
51. Who are you most comfortable around? Either aconfusedbird or featherdragon15, i think.
52.  Name one thing that terrifies you. asdkfjal;sdf i’ve been listening to too much magnus archives and got recommended to ‘not be too scared of one thing’ if i want to avoid the creatures, so uh. hard to decide. I guess I’m scared of...hm. people who just lack the ability to create bonds with people? people who don’t care about other living things. humans can be fucking terrifying.
53. What kind of books do you read? Oh, just about anything. Fantasy, realistic fiction, romance, mysteries, thrillers, scifi...all are great. I didn’t used to enjoy nonfiction but it really depends on the nonfiction.
54. What would you tell your 12 year old self? You’re going to have a best friend someday, and it will be everything you wanted. Things with your mother will improve when you’re in your last few years of high school. You’re going to become a great artist.
55.  What is your favourite flower? Not sure! I like many. There was this one flower i found in high school that smelled incredible, but I’ve no idea what it was. I should find it again.
56. Any bad habits you have? ...Well. Not waking up when my alarm goes off is pretty annoying. My procrastination in general’s frustrating. And, well, just between you, me, and the rest of the internet, (tw: self harm) my trichotillomania causes me constant distress and anxiety.
57. What kind of people are you attracted to? People who want to learn new things, are kind and compassionate, respect me, and have a good sense of humor. Someone I can be adventurous with.
58. What was the last thing you cried for? Well, i answered a similar question earlier, so I’ll answer for the second most recent time I cried. I was in Pennsylvania, the day I had to fly home, and when I went to check in for my flight, all the seats were taken, and I needed to pay for an upgrade if I wanted to guarantee a spot on the flight. This wouldn’t be a huge problem, except that for both of my flights to get home, an upgrade cost $70. And seventy dollars was a big chunk out of my budget for, you know, food. So I cried out of stress and frustration with the airport companies for charging me seventy bucks for ten more inches of legroom that I didn’t want nor need.
59. Is there something you don’t eat? Some food that truly disgust you? Not really! In terms of what’s normally accepted as “food” in American society, that is. I don’t care much for worms or insects. Other than that, I’m interested enough to try almost anything once.
60. Are you in love? In love? No. Am I full of love? Yes, for many, many, many things.
61.  Something you find romantic? Oh man, anything could be romantic if done by someone I care for. I think gentleness is romantic. Quality time is my love language, so if my partner cancelled plans to spend time with me, that’d be romantic. I find romance in trying new things and going to new places.
62. How long was your longest relationship? Four months or so. It’s the only relationship I’ve been in, though, and I hadn’t intended for it to go past summer, so that was longer than I’d even planned on haha.
63, 64. What are 3 things that irritate you about the same sex? Opposite sex? Uhhh kind of hard to answer this one. I mean, i hate the culture in which men are raised to be, but I’ve heard that ‘male’ and ‘female’ brains aren’t particularly predisposed to anything in particular? Like, both men and women are capable of emotional intelligence and compassion, it’s just that our culture doesn’t encourage it in men.
65. What are you saving money for? Food, college. I might treat myself to a school trip to Disney, but I don’t think I have the budget rn. As a student I’m kind of coasting by on the bare minimum rn, I don’t have anything i CAN save up for.
66. How would you describe your bad side? I mostly just avoid you or try to not spend time with you.
67. Are you actually a good person? Why? I think I am. I care about other people and try to make other people’s lives easier and happier. I try every day to become more sensitive to other perspectives. I do what I can to benefit the earth for those who will come after me.
68. What are you living for? Ooh, deep stuff. I’m living for helping other people. I’m living for my friends and family.
69 (nice).  Have you ever done anything illegal? Pfft, guys, jaywalking is illegal. So yes. I’ve also drank while underage before. But nothing really big, no.
70.  Do you like your body? Wait a second. This was number 11, too. Well, I guess I’ll change it to What don’t you like about your body? Which is my under-chin. It’s kind of a double chin, kind of not. But while most things I could change about my body, I don’t think I could change that without surgery. And yeah, I’ve thought about it. Not that I have any of the cash for it. I also wish I didn’t have (tw: self-harm) trichotillomania, so I’d have more eyelashes and eyebrows.
71. Have you ever made someone feel bad about themselves intentionally? I think I probably have, to douchebags. Like “hey, that’s inappropriate”.
72.  Ever sent nudes? Nope!
73. Have you ever cheated on someone? God, no. Big #1 no no for me.
74. Favourite candy? I RECENTLY DISCOVERED TAKE 5′S AND REESES HAVE COMBINED INTO ONE GLORIOUS CANDY BAR, SO, THAT.
75. Is there a blog you visit every day, or almost every day? Tag it! Agh, okay. @ aconfusedbird, @ busket, @ loreweaver-universe, @ orange-plum. The four blogs I don’t actually follow, but whose blogs I visit every day. It changes around every few years. It used to be a different bunch back when I first got on tumblr. I really have no idea why I haven’t followed them. Habit, I suppose? Also, it still won’t let me tag my sib for some reason. (nvm I removed the tags, i don’t want to bother them)
76. Do you play any computer games? What is your favourite game? lmao uh, that’s kind of an understatement. I can’t list all my favorite games, but I’m very fond of The Last of Us. I have played. So many video games. I’ll chat about them anytime!
77. Favourite TV series? Avatar: The Last Airbender, I think. It’s really hard to top that.
78. Are you religious? Does God exist? Not really religious, no. I do think that there’s probably a god out there that sparked the Big Bang. I don’t really follow the Christian God because despite what every church service said, I never felt like He loved me. Jesus was a super cool guy, though. If there’s a god out there, I think they pretty much keep to themselves. Maybe have some fun watching creation, but don’t really interact with it at all.
79. What was the last book you read? Did it impress you and why? asdkfj;as i don’t remember. probably my textbook Directing the Story by Francis Glebas? It was a pretty cool book about moviemaking.
80. What do you think about vegetarianism/veganism? I’ve reblogged a lot on the subject. I respect those who practice it, but it can cause a lot of environmental harm. In theory, it’s not bad!
81. How long have you been on Tumblr? Like eight years or so? Maybe nine? wild. I visited blogs daily before the number got high enough i was like ‘okay i’ll just make an account’.
82. Do you like Chinese food? Oh, yes!
83-85. McDonalds or Subway?   Vodka or whiskey? Alcohol or drugs? Subway, whiskey and alcohol.
86.  Ever been out of your province/state/country? Yes, yes, and no!
87. Meaning behind your blog name? I’ve had this one for many years now. I really like the word ‘saccharine’ -- inspired by @ saccharinesylph back in the old days -- and i couldn’t just name myself ‘saccharine’, so i needed something else. and I was pretty big into Good Omens at that time, and I was like ‘haha! saccharine, good, omens. saccharine omens!’ Plus, it feels like a very positive and comforting name, and I strive to be a comforting person.
88. What are you scared of? ok i def answered this moving on
89. Last time you were insulted? uhhhhhhhhh no idea. oh, wait! i know. i was getting graded on my performance at my job late last year and i disagreed with the grade my boss gave me. It was like ‘person shows considerable care of their community and goes above and beyond to educate others’ and i was like ‘oh yeah that’s, like, my whole Thing, my whole Goals and Personality and Ideals’ and then my boss came in and was like ‘2/4′ and i was like ‘wtf??’ Apparently she felt that i just wasn’t really applying that part of myself to my job, and i was like ‘you serious? i’m doing a lot!’ but also she’s my boss.
90. Most traumatic experience? A series of emotionally/mentally abusive things my mom did during my childhood. It’s definitely had the longest lasting effects of any trauma. Permanent anxiety problems, ptsd, my self harm, the whole shebang. Don’t worry, though, like. Things are way better between us, and she’s apologized many times.
91. Perfect date idea? Going on a hike! Maybe walking on a beach. Just spending time together and talking. Eating some delicious food. Spending the entire day with each other, then curling up and cuddling at home and watching a movie. then talking some more. lots of handholding and kisses. im a super hopeless romantic.
92. Favourite app on your phone? the internet, ofc lmao. But other than that I use Animal Crossing Pocket Camp and Pokemon Go an awful lot.
93. What colour are the walls in your room? At school a boring white, although I’ve taped some art up. At home a really pretty light blue color that I did all myself.
94. Do you watch Youtube? Who is your favourite youtuber? I do! And I like so many channels, honestly. I really like Rachel and Jun, and I really like Pop Culture Detective. I’ve seen a lot of jackscepticeye’s stuff, too. Proko, Vox, and Sinix Design are all good too.
95. Share your favourite quote. “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don’t mind and those who mind don’t matter.” -Dr Seuss
96.  What is the meaning of life? To be happy, enjoy yourself, and love others!
97. Do you like horror movies? Ha ha ha, not really. I liked A Quiet Place though.
98. Have you ever made your mum cry? What happened? She’s cried sometimes over how she treated us in the past. Sometimes it happens because I talk about how she’s hurt me. She always expresses regret and apologizes again.
99. Do you feel lucky or special in a way? I feel lucky with how I met my best friend. We’d had band together and kind of both thought each other as a cool person, but we didn’t really hit it off until a couple years later and she saw me drawing Homestuck fanart in Psychology lmao. The rest is history. Love you so much, Haley. I feel lucky my mom realized she was being abusive and stopped, too. Not everyone gets that.
100. Can you keep a secret? Oh, definitely. But do tell me what needs to be secret, otherwise I won’t know. For example, my sib asked me to keep their gf busy while they bought her a present, so I tried, but then she was like ‘oh, where’s your sibling? we should find them’ i was like ‘oh no, i think they’re just buying something, it’s fine’ but she was stubbornly moving toward the checkout and i was like ‘stop, i think they’re buying something for you’ so i. kinda told a secret? i didn’t tell her what the present was though.
JESUS THAT WAS A LOT OF TYPING, LMAO. IT’S THREE AM. GOODNIGHT

Roomies Part III on A03
Felicity has cried her eyes out. It is so unfair that she survived and so many on the yacht with her didn’t. Her father-in-law, husband, and the crew gone in a stormy night. Her heart is so heavy. Her mind reeling in the moments before the disaster took place. The peace she felt in her husband’s arms.
Oliver ushers her into their cabin. It has been an exciting day as they got to see whales, something Felicity had an excitement to see on this Pacific Ocean journey. Her husband holding her as she would just get closer to the yacht’s edge to feel the spray of one of the whales emerging from the deep ocean. It was a glorious moment.
“Oh my gosh Oliver, did you see that tiny one near its mama.”
“I sure did.” He’s already helping her off her garments in-between their kisses. “I think there were a few teenagers in the mix of the pod.”
Felicity kisses his neck just like he likes it as he’s already picking her up to deposit on the bed. “Oliver?”
“Hmmm.”
“I want three of those.”
Confused he pulls from her slightly, “Whales?”
Her sultry laugh gets him to hold her for a few more seconds before softly having her land on the soft mattress before him. “No silly! Children.”
“Well maybe after the one we are working on currently.”
Felicity pulls him down for another ravenous kiss. They seem to not get enough of each other especially since right before leaving Starling on the trip they find that they indeed are going to be a family of three.
The giggling coming from yards away pulls Felicity from her stupor. Her daughter’s laughter is contagious and has grounded her when she just didn’t want to continue on those harsh days. Getting up from her knees and dusting the dirt and some grass off as if talking to a tombstone can answer some of her prayers. It’s time to go back to the living she indeed has a little spitfire child that both her mom says it’s so like her and her mother-in-law keeps telling her that she is exactly like her father.
“Uncle Tommy! No!” And Ariel in another giggle fit. Her grandmother Moira placed a fence around the pool because this little cherub loves the water. She will jump onto every puddle she can pounce on. It’s like she really takes form from the mermaid in Felicity’s hallucinating dreams out on the ocean bobbing while holding on to a plaster piece with the word Gambit before being saved. Olivia Ariel Queen is a happy little girl.
As Tommy sees Felicity heading up the hill he gives her a warm smile. It’s been tough to mourn his best friend and see the little girl that Oliver will never got to know. She’s amazing and the perfect blend of her parents. The little girl wants a sibling so bad that she’s already adopted the unborn child his wife, Sara is carrying. Until Felicity graduated M.I.T he moved back to Boston to be of moral support. They were once roomies and it wasn’t hard to get reacquainted in those terms. Dating Sara Lance around that time frame could have ended if she wasn’t willing to help the widow of his best friend. Finding that Felicity was alive from the Chinese Embassy was a miracle in itself. Even if she was so distraught.
At first it was the repetitive action of going to classes and doing what she knew like the back of her hand. Then it progressed that her baby became a focal point and as she was approaching graduating her focus became in making sure her daughter would be around where her father grew up. Learning about her dad from the people who loved him.
“Look! Its mommy.” Tommy tells the little girl who is now finding a dandelion to be of the most important essence. Ariel whips her head to where her uncle is referencing to and it has her calling out for her mother.
“Momma, look what I found.” Running towards her mother as fast as she can go almost slipping before her mother has her safely wrapped up. “It’s so yellow. Y-E-L-L-O-W!”
Felicity can’t help but smile. Her daughter is already to be a genius of her time. “Yes baby. That is correct.” Kissing her temple.
“Can I go swimming?”
“Sweetie, you already did this morning.” She can see her little happy child sigh in defeat. She loves to swim or do anything water related. “Maybe we can have an evening swim later, okay?” Just like that the girl is gleeful once more as her eyes light up. As the dandelion is grasped again Ariel asks her mom if she can pick some more and Felicity lets the little girl go to gather more flowers.
“How was the conversation this morning?”
Felicity doesn’t need to ask because it’s something that is ongoing since she moved to Starling to raise her daughter after graduating. “Quiet.”
Tommy nods he’d usually add a joke but he can tell Felicity is holding on by a string.
“I feel like I’m failing her.”
“Who? Ariel?” Tommy pulls her in for a hug. “You can’t give more than yourself.”
“What if there is nothing left to give?”
“Felicity, hey, you’re doing an amazing job with her. She’s a well-adjusted free spirit. Who for some reason loves giant bodies of water? Still…”
She gives him a dry look but her eyes are filled with mirth. “Tommy! I didn’t make out with a merman in the Pacific Ocean so don’t even ask.”
“Sheesh, you always do protest to my great ideas.”
“Do you always need to be your crazy self?”
“Of course, you love me just the way I am.”
“I do.” She kisses his cheek, “I thank the heavens that you are in my life.”
“Come on Raisa made her famous cookies.”
Ariel hearing about cookies starts to make her little happy dance before running back to her mother’s arms.
“My baby loves sweets just like her momma.”
Off they go to spend quality time together. It isn’t until the evening hours that Felicity takes her daughter out again to swim. Just observing her baby enjoying herself around the pool. How she wishes Oliver was here to just confirm their daughter loves swimming just like how much his father enjoyed it. Sometimes thinking that Ariel won’t also get to know her grandfather hits her. The little girl is a mirror image of her family. Reminding them all that Robert and Oliver live through her.
~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~sp@ce~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~
“Felicity? Felicity!” Moira’s voice vibrates an urgency as the woman swiftly walks into the massive room that houses the indoor pool. Ariel’s nanny by her side. That is how Felicity knows this conversation is urgent.
“Moira, what’s wrong?”
“Gammie!”
Moira still in a hurried manner stops in her tracks still taking the time to show affection to her granddaughter as the girl is being dried by her mother. “Hi darling baby girl.” She lays a simple kiss to the girl’s temple. “Nancy will take over and ready you for bed. I need to talk to your mommy.”
“Okay. Night Gammie.”
“Goodnight sweetheart.” She watches Felicity kiss her daughter and tell her she’d be by to tuck in her in. Both women watch as Ariel is content to leave with the other woman who seems to be telling her of a fun activity they can be doing.
The moment the child is out of earshot Felicity is pressing for information and Moira looks a little more youthful. She’s hasn’t seen her mother-in-law show such happiness if not with the antics of her granddaughter.
“What’s is going on?”
“The American Embassy called. Our family has been located with a single crewman. They are alive.”
“What?” Felicity shakes her head she just thinks it’s highly improbable. “This can be a hoax.” Shaking her head furiously. “We’ve had false claims. I just…”
“I know. I know darling.” Moira has this smile that helps Felicity a tiny bit. “I heard their voices. They’re being cleared. Robert has sustained some injuries that need extra hospital care but they’re alive. I called Thea to come home. They will make another phone call to us soon. I want you both there when it comes through.”
“Of course.” Felicity just nods numbly she isn’t going to take this one call Moira seemed to get as the only evidence her heart won’t allow it for the growing hope that could finally be the nail to crush her spirits.
~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~sp@ce~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~
The wait is beyond any anguish she could feel. She misses Oliver and remembers their last moment together like it was yesterday. When he forced her to put that orange life jacket on telling her to just amuse him as she whined until he placed his on to. The storm vividly on her mind as it rocked their boat back and forth. They heard it was taking in more and more water. It wasn’t until a wave rocked them enough that she can’t remember much after as she tumbled and lost conscious to wake up on a floating debris while still wearing her lifejacket. Her heart drowning in grief as the sole survivor of this wretched wreck.
There are reporters and many photographers present here at the tarmac where the Queen family waits for the three passengers to disembark. The family of the crewman also here to welcome him home. As the door opens and some personnel from the plane disembark it’s the moment when the first crewman shows himself and the camera’s flashes go wild. It’s a miracle to man does stumble down the staircase. Then Robert Queen emerges but he has people steading him as he looks down at the crowd and looks pinpointing his family before he too makes it down the stairs slowly but surely. At the top is Oliver keeping an eye making sure his father will safely make it down.
Spotting Oliver is when Felicity’s heart truly can feel again. His voice on the phone was so sterile so far away. She keeps her eyes glued to the man slowly descending and she notices he hasn’t looked for her… for them. His family.
Its when his eyes roam around the tarmac and she can tell he’s taking in the amount of people there is at this moment and he seems uncomfortable. A part of her aches to reach him but another part of her wonders what is fueling his emotions. He looks to somber unlike his father who is smiling.
The security detail already ushers her into a vehicle before there is a reunion. These vehicles already heading to what the media thinks is Queen Manor and Felicity is beyond numb. She has no idea what just happened. Moira takes her hand as Felicity turns from the window with unshed tears. “I know it is more than expected, we both agreed before going out there we wouldn’t make a spectacle expose ourselves to the media.”
“I know Moira, I just…” Felicity doesn’t voice her concern she knows they are going to Starling General where the private rooms are already setup. Robert needs some surgery and Oliver is just going to get checked by their private physician. As for the crewman their going to give him a full physical before releasing him.
It’s the moment she opens the door to his hospital room Felicity feels trepidation she doesn’t know what she is going to uncover. Maybe her husband after all this time without her has found he doesn’t want her as a wife or in any capacity any longer. That he’ll shun his child he never got to know. So far, everything to this moment has pointed to dread.
“Oliver?”
He turns from what had his attention even though he knows the door opened and she is the one to come through if her silhouette from the glass window is anything to go by.
Its like the moment they met some years ago, how she hung back in the dinning room and he stood looking at her in awe. This time Tommy isn’t here pushing her closer or breaking the ice between them. He can tell his stoicism is scaring her. He doesn’t have a container in his hands to give her like all those years ago not that she’d want anything but to know where she stands with him.
For years he thought her dead. Learning to accept that he lost her on the island was a lot. Knowing he urged her to go with him on this ill-fated voyage the anguish of knowing he didn’t just kill her but also their unborn baby. It wasn’t until the embassy patched them through to his mother for a second time.
Learning that Felicity survived the storm’s carnage just has had him in a daze. She’s alive, the woman he saw in his nightmares telling him it’s his fault she’s gone is alive. Now he fears she hates him because of the ordeal or just the notion she lost their child. No one has spoken of this subject so he’s just so frightened. In the few hours it took to get back to the States it a question he is eager to find the answer to.
He is glad his mother and wife and even sister, oh he misses Thea so very much. They’ve remained a family. A part of his heart thawing out as once he learned to compartmentalize he made it where his heart would beat for nothing more than surviving. Taking care of his injured father. He and a crewman making due on a harsh landscape. An island where the natives allowed them to live as long as they stayed in their zone. They survived and now are home.
Just as Felicity lets a hollow breath go it propels him to be the one to move forward first.
“Hi.”
A simple word has her tear up. She knows of some injuries that are still healing on his torso she doesn’t close the distance yet. She doesn’t want to hurt him.
“This is when you’d say hi or hello back.” He says lighthearted as he takes her in. Tommy may not be here but he can hear the rumbling of how dismal they are at coming together.
“I’ve missed you so much.” She finally says between sobs as he holds her tighter to his frame. Holding her body to his he never thought this is would ever be a possibility. As easy as that thought came to him another darker one takes hold. Is she still his wife? Did she move on? Her voice cuts him back to reality. “There is someone I’d want you to meet. Got me through these tough times. If it’s too much right now I’d understand.”
Oliver afraid of losing her grips her tighter if that is possible. He doesn’t know who has helped her through but it’s just not fair. No matter how nice this man that has mended her heart he doesn’t really need to meet him. Not knowing she’d be going back with him in the end while he tries to survive again without her. “I don’t know.” He whispers. “I may never be ready to meet this guy.”
“Guy?” Her confusion taking hold. “There is no other man, I mean our child.”
He pulls her just enough from his hold to look down at her face. Same eyes that he adores even if she lightened her hair and doesn’t rock the Goth vibe anymore she looks so radiantly beautiful. She survived and the little bundle that he thought he lost also is actually a little boy or girl that he’ll get to meet.
“We have a child?”
“A little girl. Olivia Ariel Queen.”
Feeling the dread, he’s been holding begin to deviate. They have a child together. “A baby girl. Wow! Where is she?”
“At home, I told her about you in terms that a child can understand she’s a little confused but she can’t wait to meet you.”
“Really?”
“Yes.” Her hands reach upward to hold his face. The fact that she can do this brings her to tear up once again. “You’re here.”
“I am. I’m not going anywhere.” There is no simple feeling that can converse what they feel at this moment as both happily embrace each other and finally kiss.
~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~sp@ce~~~~~~****~~~~~~~~
The couple take their leave with their daughter to a quieter room it’s time to get that father-daughter duo time with one another without prying eyes. Ariel in her father’s arms. Oliver seems he really hasn’t shared her with anyone yet. He can’t get enough of the small wiggling weight in his grasp.
The little girl is as fascinated by him as he is with her. She has asked a few times to make sure this man is who he says he is.
“You’re my daddy?”
“I am.”
She glances at her mother and a big sweet smile goes across her face knowing exactly what she wants to say as she gazes into this man’s eyes. “You’re my daddy!”
“Yes, baby I am.”
“That’s wonderful. I like a baby sister now.”
He’s looking at his daughter at how she looks quite serious as he can hear his wife make a strangling sound but he doesn’t turn to Felicity yet as his daughter just smiles even more.
“How long do you think it will take daddy?”
“I…” He doesn’t know how to really answer he wasn’t expecting this demand from his precious daughter. He’ll need to ask Felicity what this line of questioning comes from but he’ll ask a what if question instead. “Sweetie what if you get a brother instead?”
“That’s okay daddy. It may take lots of practice to get stuff right.” She tilts her head just like how her mom does. He smiles at the memories of Felicity doing that with him when she’s pondering something about him. “You’re my daddy.” She says that as an acknowledgement. Her smile contagious as she takes in the man she already likes so much. “You just have to put the dough in the oven.” Her hands fly out as she yelps out, “Tada!”
Oliver finally looks at Felicity who just has her mouth in that perfect ‘o’ shape as she’s just flabbergasted at their daughter basically demanding they create another child for her amusement.
“Guess your mommy and I will need to get the right ingredients huh?”
“Oliver? you shouldn’t encourage her.” He just gives a quick smirk to his wife. Ariel’s giving her mom a bothersome glare but her attention snaps back to her father. “Daddy, make sure she’s all organic. Okay?”
He nods and that’s enough for his baby girl to kiss his cheek. “Okay.” He places her softly back to the floor and just as quickly the little girl runs to where the other adults are. They hear her screaming at the top of her lungs that her daddy and mommy are going to bake her a sister.
Both Oliver and Felicity staring at the exit the little tornado went. Felicity finally shaking her head at the man she can’t believe is really truly back. “You could’ve promise her a dog instead.”
“Who says she won’t get one.”
“Oliver? I get your reasoning but she can’t get everything her little heart desires.”
“I get it. No spoiling but I also do recall someone here asking for three children.”
“Nah., I think I was talking about whales.”
He laughs as he embraces her. He is finally home and they’ll have to take time to get to know each other again.
“Welcome home.”
“No other place I’d rather be.” He winks at her as he already slightly tugging her back to where everyone else is. He’d like to spend more time with his two girls. Adding to the family may be somewhere on his list of future endeavors as he teases his wife, “I’d like have a pod, a school or a gam with you.”
“Well if that is the case, you better be as good the cook that I remember.”
“I can't believe I'm finally doing this!” you said excitedly, locking your car doors and jumping up and down a little. The day you'd been waiting for had finally arrived.
Ever since you were young, you’d always wanted a pet. You couldn’t count how many times you’d begged your parents for a dog, or how much time you’d put into creating powerpoints about why you needed one. But no matter how persuasive you could be, your parents still weren’t buying it. To be fair, your mother was very allergic to dogs, and your dad was a little scared of them (which he refused to admit, but every time he saw one on the street he would dodge it like it was something deadly). You lived your whole childhood watching all of your friends get dogs, which is exactly why when you finally moved out that one of the first things you did was go to a shelter.
“What kind of dog do you want to get?” your best friend, Namjoon, asked. Over the years that he’d known you, your favorite breed had changed dozens of times. When you were 7, all you ever talked about was German Shepards. But then when you were 8 Namjoon adopted a Husky and those became your favorite dogs. Nearly every year you fell in love with a new breed, so your friend really had no clue what dog you’d want to get this time around.
“Hmmm,” you pondered, unable to hide the smile that was creeping along your face as you walked across the parking lot of the shelter with Namjoon in tow. “I guess I’ll just see which dog speaks to me.”
“Every dog is going to speak to you, Y/N. I’m coming with you specifically to make sure you don’t walk out of here with 10 dogs.”
You rolled your eyes but couldn’t help but laugh. “What’s wrong with adopting 10 dogs?”
“You’ve never even taken care of a fish, I think it’s safest to start with just one dog for now. Plus, we’re roommates. Any dog that’s yours is essentially mine too.”
You pouted at him as he held the door open for you, and then you entered the noisy shelter. The sound of barking met your ears instantly, and you nearly skipped over to the first cage. A small black pug sniffed up at you in its cage, and you instantly dropped to the floor and started cooing at it, smiling and waving your fingers at it. Namjoon crouched next to you and held his hand out to the cage to let it sniff.
“I love it already,” you said, looking around for the sheet that had information about the dog written on it. She was named Minnie, and you could already imagine yourself rolling around with her and playing fetch.
“Y/N, I know what you’re thinking. How about you walk around and see what other dogs they have first?”
With a sigh you stood up and let him take your hand, leading you to the next cage. Over the next 20 minutes, you fell in love with every single dog that you saw. A Pit bull puppy had your heart melting, and an older Border Collie had Namjoon tugging you away because you didn’t want to move. You had no idea how you were going to choose just one pet; you wanted to take them all home.
And then you saw him: a small, fiery red Shiba Inu puppy, curly tail wagging excitedly as it played around in a pen with a few other dogs. An employee let you into the pen with them, and the second you entered he was bounding over to you. You pet his head in between his adorable pointed ears, and he instantly started biting your shoelaces.
“Stop that!” you giggled and moved your feet away, but no matter where you went his mouth followed.
“That one’s got a lot of energy,” the employee told you with a smile on her face, and when you picked him up you never wanted to let go.
“How old is he?” you asked.
“He’s just a pup, a little over 3 months old.”
The dog’s big brown eyes looked up at you eagerly, and he started trying to lick your face. You laughed and squeezed your eyes shut, trying to move your head away.
Namjoon was playing with a Beagle in the pen with you, but when he looked up he knew you’d found your new best friend.
“Not gonna lie, I really only know them from the doge meme,” you admitted.
“They’re a very sweet breed,” the employee said. “A hunting breed, so keep them on a leash unless you want them running for every small animal they see. Can be a bit stubborn, but very loyal and kind.”
You nodded your head, but you knew that no matter what the employee had to say, you were already attached to this dog.
“I think you’ve looked at all of them by now,” Namjoon said. “Do you know which one you love best?”
You looked up at your friend, and you could tell with the little glimmer in his eye that he already knew. You’d put the Shiba down on the ground, and he went back to chewing endearingly on your shoelaces. You weren’t even trying to stop him anymore.
“Yes, I know exactly which one I love.”
“They told you Shiba Inus were stubborn,” Namjoon said, trying to keep the smirk off of his face. You were currently being tugged along by your energetic little pup. You’d had Haru for about three weeks now, and they’d been three weeks of near torture.
You loved him, but you were in hell.
“I can handle stubborn, this dog came straight out of the pits of hell,” you grumbled, but you both knew that you absolute adored him. Haru had become the biggest part of your life, even bigger than your new job and apartment. He was all you thought about 24/7, mostly because he had you up nearly 24/7.
The last three weeks had been filled with lots of barking, numerous “accidents” in which he ruined the new rug you’d just bought, and several jailbreaks in which he slipped his collar and made a run for it.
Needless to say, you’d gotten very little sleep and were at your wit’s end. But every time he’d crawl into your lap and lick your hand, your heart melted all over again and you knew exactly why you’d chosen him.
“Do you want me to take the leash?” Namjoon asked hesitantly when Haru yanked you forward again, chasing after a leaf blowing in the wind.
“I can handle him,” you huffed and wrapped the leash around your hand a third time to get a better grip.
“Is it all you thought it would be?” Namjoon asked and looped his arm around your free one.
“What?”
“Owning a dog.”
“Oh!” you said. “It’s a little more work than I was expecting, but after all he is just a puppy.”
“I cannot believe Haru already got kicked out of puppy training school,” Namjoon laughed.
“It’s not his fault!” you exclaimed. “Haru is just very inquisitive.”
“He sniffed another dog’s butt and all hell broke loose.”
“He caused a momentary commotion, but the other dogs started running around and barking too so I don’t really see why it was all his fault.”
“Nevertheless, the instructor told you to never bring him back. You officially have a dropout on your hands.”
“That instructor was a dick,” you sniffed. “Haru is an absolute angel and I can train him by myself.”
“Just a minute ago you said he was from hell.”
“Well, he is. But he’s also an angel. My perfect little angelic demon dog. The perfect companion.”
You and Namjoon had reached the dog park entrance, and you let Namjoon open the gates for you so you could keep ahold of Haru. You’d been taking Haru for several walks a day, but when Namjoon suggested a dog park you could feel a weight lifting off of your shoulders. Being able to let Haru run loose and burn some energy sounded exactly like what you needed right now.
As soon as Namjoon closed the second gate, you bent down and let Haru off of his leash. He paused for a second, but as soon as he realized he was free he bolted away from you, hopping across the yard with his tail wagging.
“Haru!” you yelled and waved the new tennis ball you’d bought in your hand. The energetic puppy turned around at your voice, tongue wagging. You threw the ball in a wide arc, and he jumped into the air to catch it.
Unsurprisingly, once he had the ball he ran in the opposite direction with it.
You sighed and sat down on the bench, and Namjoon joined you a moment later.
“A boyfriend probably would’ve been easier,” he remarked.
“Namjoon!” you yelled.
“What? You wanted a companion, right? At least you’d get some sleep with a boyfriend.”
You ignored your best friend and watched Haru chasing a dog around the park. The dogs seemed to be having fun, but soon enough the owner of the other dog called it over to them and shot you a dirty look.
“So when are you going to start training him?” Namjoon asked and leaned back against the bench, tipping his head up toward the sun.
“I already am,” you responded. “Haru, come!”
Haru did not come.
“He’s very independent, just like his mommy.”
“That is such a load of shit,” Namjoon said with his eyes closed. He didn’t even have to look to know that Haru was definitely not coming.
You rested your head on Namjoon’s shoulder with a sigh. “He’s a pain in the ass, but he’s my pain in the ass.”
“I could say the same about you.”
“Shut up,” you said half halfheartedly, cozying up closer to your friend. You had a few moments of peace before you had to jump up and run to Haru, who had decided to eat garbage for lunch.
It took you twenty minutes to finally catch Haru and get him back on his leash, but the second you got out of the dog park and stepped into the parking lot he slipped his collar. You watched in horror as he wiggled his head out and then ran for it, and you screamed his name and started running after him. He wove in between parked cars, and your heart was pounding as you tried to catch up with him.
“Haru!” you yelled, clutching the leash in your hand and looking around for him desperately. Your throat was getting tight, and your breathing hitched when you saw red in the corner of your vision. Haru was standing next to a sandy haired man, and when you caught up to him you saw that the man had treats and was holding them above Haru’s head.
You walked up slowly as to not scare Haru off, and the man glanced up at you and gave you a small nod. He continued to shake the bag of treats while you crept up on Haru and finally got ahold of him. The stranger helped grab the collar from your hands and put it around Haru’s neck.
“Thank you so much,” you said, your heartbeat finally slowing down.
“It’s no problem,” you stranger replied and petted Haru on the head. “You’ve got an excited one here, don’t you?”
“He likes to break free.”
“You should try a harness, that way he can’t slip out of it.”
Haru started pulling on the leash again, distracted by a dog passing by.
“What’s his name?”
“Haru.”
“Can I give him a treat?”
“Sure,” you replied with a shrug.
“Haru,” the stranger said and shook the bag of treats again. “Come.” Haru turned around and looked at him, and then pranced over. The stranger bent down and gave him a treat.
“Are you trying to train him?” the stranger asked.
“I was, but he kinda got kicked out.”
“I see.” He looked down at Haru, who was trying to chew on his shoelaces.
“I’m Taehyung,” he said and stuck out his hand for you to shake.
“Y/N.”
“I work as a dog trainer, if you’re interested?”
Haru tried to bolt again, barking loudly at a Chihuahua that was walking past, and you had to pick him up to make sure that he wouldn’t slip his collar again.
“He’s really stubborn,” you admitted.
Taehyung smiled, his mouth boxy and his brown eyes bright. “I don’t mind a challenge.”
You struggled with Haru in your arms, and when you set him down Taehyung shook the treats again and repeated the come command until Haru was at his feet, waiting for a treat.
“What’s your rate?” you asked hesitantly. You’d just moved to this area, and you had lied to your parents about what you’d eaten for dinner the past week (instant ramen every single night). You didn’t have a lot of spare change to spend on private training.
“For someone so gorgeous? I can do the first few lessons free.”
“Are you hitting on me?” you asked, incredulous.
Taehyung looked at you and then looked pointedly down at Haru. “I was talking about this handsome man right here.” And then he shot you a wink.
“Is everything alright?” Namjoon asked, coming around the car. “I couldn’t even figure out where you’d ran to.”
“Yeah, Haru just decided to make a new friend,” you replied.
Namjoon gave Taehyung a nod and came up to your side.
“That would be really nice of you,” you finally responded to Taehyung. “But I can’t ask you to do that for free.”
“It’s my pleasure,” he said, opening the back door of his car. A couple golden retrievers hopped out, and Haru started barking uncontrollably.
“Can you help?” you asked you friend. Namjoon grabbed Haru and started walking away with him to stop him from barking.
“I suppose he really does need some training, but I still feel bad having you help for free.”
Taehyung shrugged. “I come here almost every day; I walk some people’s dogs as well so this is pretty much my second home. I don’t mind giving you some tips while I’m here. I’m just sitting around anyway.”
“Haru, no!”
You glanced over and saw Namjoon pulling Haru away from a puddle of mud.
“I think I’ll take you up on that offer,” you said when you turned back to Taehyung.
“I’m usually here around this time, so I’ll keep an eye out for you.”
“Thanks so much.” You shot Taehyung a smile and then gave him a small wave before you ran and help stop Haru from bathing in mud.
“Haru, come,” you commanded. Haru looked at you and wagged his tail. “Come!”
It was a few days later, and thankfully only a couple other people were in the dog park. Taehyung had brought treats again, and you had a few of them in your hand as you tried to teach Haru his first command. Taehyung and you were sitting across from each other, and he was holding Haru’s leash. Each of you were taking turns calling Haru, and each time he’d come over you’d give him a treat.
You sighed after you’d called Haru for the tenth time.
“Just be patient,” Taehyung said, ignoring Haru’s inquiring nose at his hand.
“I’m the most patient person there is,” you retorted.
“I’ve only known you for a few days, but even I can tell you that’s false.”
You glared at him but then took a deep breath, determined to stay calm and patient.
“Haru, come!” Nothing. “Come!” A turned head, tongue sticking out. “Come!” Haru’s tail started wagging. “Come!”
Finally he came over, and you smiled wide as you gave him a treat. “Good boy!”
Taehyung spent some time calling Haru over, and the two of you sat there for almost an hour having Haru stubbornly walk back and forth between you. Taehyung had a poodle with him today, and it sat next to him calmly, head down on the ground as if this were boring them.
“Is that your dog?” you had asked when you first spotted Taehyung in the dog park.
“Nope, this is my neighbor’s dog.”
Now, with Haru resting his head peacefully in your lap, you asked Taehyung about his own pets.
“I actually only have one dog at the moment.”
“Really?” you asked, surprised. “I assumed you’d have a ton of dogs.”
“I do, in a sense. All the dogs I train are kind of my dogs.”
You smiled at him and petted Haru. “What kind of dog do you have?”
“A Pomeranian,” he answered. “His name is Yeontan. I just adopted him a little while ago.”
“Maybe some day him and Haru can go on a play date.”
Taehyung laughed and sat back on his elbows. “That sounds like a good idea, once we get Haru trained.”
The sun made Taehyung’s hair shine, and leaning back he looked like a work of art. You blushed when you realized you were staring, and focused on the sleeping pup in your lap.
“Is Haru your first dog?” Taehyung asked you a few moments later.
“He is.” You smiled down at Haru and kissed him on the head, causing him to nuzzle his head further into your lap. “How many pets have you had?”
“I’ve had pets all my life.”
“Is that why you went into dog training?”
Taehyung shook his head no. “I’ve loved animals forever, but I didn’t want to go into training until I started volunteering at a shelter. People give up animals so easily when all the dog needs is some training.”
You thought back to the nights you’d spent crouched over a mess Haru had made and wondered how many people would’ve given up by then.
“So many abandoned pets came into the shelter, and I realized that I could help in some way.”
“That’s really admirable of you,” you said.
Taehyung sat up and smiled at you. “It’s not, it’s just my way of putting some good into this world.”
“I really appreciate you helping train Haru. He’s a little devil but he has the softest heart.”
“I don’t mind at all. Besides, who else can say they get to spend time with someone so charming?”
“You’re talking about Haru again, aren’t you?”
Taehyung winked at you. “I’m talking about you this time.”
You blushed again and busied yourself with untangling Haru’s leash, as he’d knotted it up going back and forth between you two.
“Have you lived in this area very long?” you asked him.
“I’ve been here for a couple years now. But you must be new, right? I’d remember seeing you around town.”
The fact that he was determined that he’d remember you made your stomach flip in ways you hadn’t felt in a while. “I just moved here last month. I lived a couple hours away from here, but my friend needed a roommate and I really wanted to move out.”
“Have you liked it so far?”
You shrugged. “It’s been okay, but I really just stick around my friend Namjoon. I haven’t really made any friends at work or around town yet.”
“I’m your friend!” Taehyung said nonchalantly.
“You’ve known me collectively for around an hour.”
“So?” he asked. “I can already tell I like you.”
Haru yawned in your lap and you looked down at him to avoid Taehyung’s gaze.
“That’s sweet of you, but you barely know me,” you said.
“Can you give me a chance to get to know you?”
“How so?”
Taehyung stood up and held his hand out to you to help you up. “See you here next week?”
Over the next several weeks, Taehyung trained Haru faster than you’d even imagined. Of course, Haru was still incredibly stubborn. Every time you told him to come and he’d just stand there wagging his tail at you, your blood boiled. He knew the commands, he just didn’t always choose to obey them. But you and Haru had become inseparable, as if you’d been waiting your whole life for him (and, in a sense, you had).
You started growing anxious once Haru had learned most of the common commands. You were enjoying spending time with Taehyung more than you cared to admit, finding yourself hanging on his every word and blushing whenever his hand brushed against yours when you passed the leash over to each other. You feared that you’d run out of excuses to keep meeting him. After all, you already felt bad having him train Haru for free. You certainly couldn’t expect him to go above and beyond in training when you weren’t even paying him.
You wondered how Taehyung kept finding things to teach your pup. Haru had already learned how to come, heel, sit, lie down, and fetch. Haru had become a little tamer, no longer constantly running for every moving object that he saw.
“Hey, buddy!” Taehyung said one day when the two of you finally got to the dog park. He petted Haru between his ears and then took out his usual bag of treats. “Let’s teach you how to high five today.”
You laughed, thinking he was joking. But sure enough, he started trying to teach Haru how to high five. Your heart melted a little as you sat on the bench and watched Taehyung bent over, fluffy sandy hair covering his eyes and a big smile on his face when Haru finally put his paw in his hand.
The next week, you were certain Taehyung would tell you this was the last lesson. You couldn’t even think of more things to teach Haru at the moment. You’d achieved your goal: having a dog that didn’t drive you absolutely nuts. What else was there that Haru absolutely needed to learn?
But this time around, Taehyung had decided to teach Haru how to roll over.
The next week, he wanted to teach Haru how to play dead.
“Running out of things to teach him?” you asked when your session was over, walking out of the dog park with Taehyung. He had an adorable Bulldog with him today and you let her lick your hand before she hopped in his car. He closed the door and leaned against it, a small smirk on his face.
“You can never run out of things to teach a dog,” he replied.
Haru barked once at a passing dog, but when you commanded him to be quiet he sat at your side silently.
“He’s absolutely perfect, Taehyung,” you said, sadness filling your voice. Taehyung didn’t have to train Haru anymore, which didn’t give you much of a reason to spend time with him at the dog park.
“He is,” Taehyung responded, voice sounding equally as disappointed. You felt like your time with him was almost at an end, and your head started spinning trying to come up with an excuse to see him again.
Finally, you knew the perfect excuse.
“Do you want to go out for drinks soon?” you asked. “As a way of paying you back for training Haru.”
Taehyung stood silently for a moment, and then a smile brightened his face.
“Sure, I suppose that would be fair payment. I’ll pick you up this weekend.”
“You asked him out for drinks?” Namjoon asked you later that night as you plopped down onto the sofa next to him. You put a pillow on his lap and rested on it, looking up at your best friend and the dimples you’d adored since you were little.
“Yeah, as a way of thanking him for his help.”
“Are you sure that’s the only reason why?” he asked.
“Namjoon, what are you implying?”
“I’m just saying that you’ve been taking Haru to get trained for weeks now, and half the things he knows he’ll never even need. Plus, every time you come home from the dog park you have a goofy grin on your face.”
“I do not!” you exclaimed.
“Yes, you do. I’ve known you my whole life, I can tell when you like someone.”
You huffed and turned so your back was to him. “I don’t know if he even wants to be friends with me.”
Namjoon rolled his eyes at you. “Y/N, it’s so clear he’s been wanting to spend time with you.”
“What do you mean?”
“Did Haru really have to learn how to play dead?” he asked.
You bit your lip, not having a response. You had been very aware that Taehyung didn’t need to teach Haru any of the tricks he’d taught him these past few weeks.
“He’s been looking for any excuse to see you every week. You two are driving me nuts.”
When he put it that way, it did seem a bit obvious. Most of your training sessions were spent with the two of you just chatting anyway, and Haru certainly didn’t need more training right now.
“When are you going out with him?” Namjoon asked you and started braiding your hair.
“This weekend, he texted me the time he’d pick me up.”
“Alright, just text me if you need me to clear out of the apartment for you two.”
“Namjoon!” you yelled and picked up the pillow you’d been lying on, throwing it at him and walking away in frustration.
When Taehyung buzzed your apartment, you could feel your own nerves buzzing beneath your skin. You took a deep breath and gave Haru a pat on his head before leaving him alone with Namjoon.
You were dressed casually in a T-shirt and jeans, and Taehyung was dressed much the same. The two of you walked together to the nearest bar, the air between the two of you feeling heavy and weighted. This wasn’t a date, you reminded yourself. You were the one who asked him out, and it was purely so that you could thank him for all of his help. So what if he had the most gorgeous brown eyes you’d ever looked into, or a laugh that made your knees weak?
You hoped he wouldn’t notice that your hands were trembling a little.
This wasn’t a date. This wasn’t any different than spending time with him in the dog park. Except this time you didn’t have Haru as a distraction and a buffer.
“How’s Haru doing?” Taehyung asked you to break the silence. You’d been sitting tracing your finger along the rim of your glass, too nervous to speak.
“He’s doing well,” you replied, nodding your head but still not looking up at him.
“Are you alright?” Taehyung asked, lowering his head to catch your eye.
You finally looked up and gave him a small smile. “Yeah, I guess it’s just weird seeing you outside of the dog park.”
“To be honest, I’ve been looking for an excuse to see you out of that godforsaken dog park for a while now.”
You widened your eyes at him. “Really?”
“Yeah, but I didn’t want you to think I was coming onto you.”
“You weren’t?” You pouted jokingly, although you secretly meant it.
“I meet a lot of people because of my job, but you’re one of my favorites.”
You blushed and stirred your drink before taking a sip. “Thank you so much for training Haru, you were my savior.”
“It really was my pleasure. Besides, if I hadn’t then I wouldn’t be sitting across a pretty girl right now.”
You choked a little on your drink and coughed.
“What do you do for fun, other than training and walking dogs?” you asked, desperate to change the topic. Taehyung had been a flirt ever since you knew him, but the alcohol was making you take him seriously tonight.
“I’m really into music, always have been. I’m in a jazz band. I actually play here some weekends.”
“No shit?” you asked, sitting up straighter in your seat.
“Yeah, but what about you?”
“Funnily enough, I love listening to jazz music in my free time.” You winked. “Go figure.”
Taehyung tipped his head back and laughed, and you joined him, the alcohol finally making you mellow out.
A couple hours and several drinks later, you had your feet up underneath you and you were leaning in close, laughing at the stories Taehyung was telling you. Without Haru distracting both of you, you finally had a chance to fully get to know Taehyung.
“And I shit you not, Hobi passed out at least three times on that ride. He’d scream and then a second later be completely knocked out.”
“Oh my god,” you said in between your laughter. “Next time you go to an amusement park with your friends, please bring me with.”
“You’re welcome any time,” he said. “My friends are your friends.”
You smiled and leaned back in your seat.
“Finally feel like you have friends now?” he asked you.
You scratched your head and acted like you were thinking about it. “I think I do.”
“Do you always play this hard to get with your friends?”
“Unless you’re a dog, it takes a while to win over my heart. But you’re getting there.”
Taehyung nodded and downed the rest of his drink. “I should be getting home.”
“Me too,” you agreed, noticing that the room was spinning a little bit. When you stood up, you had to hold onto the table as to not fall over.
“Let me walk you home,” Taehyung said and threw some bills down on the table, taking your hand and leading you out before you could protest.
“I was supposed to pay for those!” you complained, swaying as you walked.
“I’m not sure you can even count properly right now. Besides, we’re friends. I don’t mind paying. You can pay next week.”
“Next week,” you promised and leaned into him. The two of you were quiet until you got to your apartment.
“I had fun,” Taehyung said. “Now go get some rest.”
“I did too,” you confessed. “See you later, Taehyung.” You fumbled with your keys but finally got in. Before the door closed behind you, you gave him a wave.
“You can call me Tae, by the way. All my friends do.”
He turned away before he could see your sloppy, drunken smile.
Every week, you met Taehyung for drinks. And every week, he walked your tipsy ass back home. Namjoon still joked that he could always clear out of the apartment if necessary, and you acted like you couldn’t hear him. It’s not that you hadn’t thought about it; Taehyung was very attractive and he still made your stomach flip when he smiled. But you’d been friends for some time now, and you figured that’s how he wanted it. You told yourself you were fine with that.
But whenever Taehyung ran his hands through your hair, you felt a pang in your stomach. And when he held your hand as you walked home from the bar, you could feel your heart skip a beat.
“Goodnight, Y/N,” Taehyung said every time he'd drop you off at home. He'd help you open the door and then kiss your forehead before you stumbled up the stairs.
You were fine being just friends.
At night, though, you sometimes found yourself thinking about him. It felt wrong, thinking about your friend this way as you writhed in bed. But everyone fantasized every once and a while, right? It didn't mean anything.
You were totally fine being just friends.
“Tae, you were amazing!” you said one night, leaping into his arms after his jazz performance. “I’m so glad you invited me finally.”
“I’m glad you wanted to come,” he replied. “I thought you were joking about liking jazz music.”
“I kinda was. But you’ve made me a fan now.”
Taehyung’s eyes were sparkling in the dim bar lighting, and your heart rate increased. Somehow, even though both of you were surrounded by dozens of people, this moment felt more intimate than when the two of you were tucked in a corner alone.
“You're very talented,” you said, your voice so low that he probably couldn't even hear you over the noise of the bar.
He was about to say something when a dark haired woman touched his arm and yelled his name.
“Taehyung!” She pulled him away from you and threw her arms around him.
“Nayeon, I didn’t think you were going to show up.”
“I couldn’t miss my favorite guy performing,” she said. She’d pulled away from her hug, but she still had her hand on his arm and her eyes were sultry as she looked up at him. “Who knew jazz could be so sexy?”
You suddenly felt like you shouldn’t be here anymore. In the months you’d known Taehyung, plenty of girls had flirted with him. But none that he clearly already knew. Not wanting to intrude, you acted like you needed to get a new drink and excused yourself from their company.
Taehyung turned to talk to you but Nayeon squeezed his arm a little and stepped closer to him, grabbing his attention again.
Walking straight past the bar, you slipped into a crowd of people and left the bar, cool air hitting your face as you walked outside. You walked home completely sober, and you wondered if that’s why things felt so wrong to you. Your stomach churned and your palms were sweating.
By the way Nayeon had been clinging to Taehyung, she clearly wanted to go home with him tonight. And as his friend, you should want that for him. You knew he was single, and any person your age deserved a good fuck every once and a while. Besides, she was adorable and he seemed to know her. They’d probably make a cute couple.
You were sweating now, and by the time you got up to your apartment your breathing was labored. The idea of your friend getting laid tonight shouldn’t bother you this much. Namjoon had had plenty of girlfriends and boyfriends over the years, and you’d never once felt sick thinking about it.
“Are you okay?” Namjoon asked when you slid down the door as soon as you closed it. You landed on the floor with a soft thud and closed your eyes, trying to regulate your breathing.
“Y/N, are you alright?” He was at your side now, hand pressed against your forehead. “Did something happen?”
“Tae’s probably going home with some girl tonight,” you mumbled and kept your eyes closed.
You heard a sigh and then Namjoon sat down next to you, taking your hand and holding it in his. “I knew this would happen.”
“What do you mean?”
“You were bound to figure out your feelings eventually.”
“I don’t—”
“You might be able to lie to yourself, but you can’t lie to me. Finally figured out you don’t just want to be friends with him, didn’t you?”
You stayed quiet, unsure of what to say. Is that why you felt so sick? The thought of Nayeon clutching Taehyung’s arm made your throat tighten.
You were not fine being just friends.
“I don’t like this feeling,” you whispered.
“I know,” Namjoon said and gently pushed your head onto his shoulder. “But you’re gonna be fine.”
Haru walked up to you and placed his head in your lap, and you finally felt yourself break. All this time with Taehyung and you’d convinced yourself that friendship was all you wanted. But reality had hit you hard tonight, and it was a feeling you didn’t like.
The three of you sat there for a while until your tears dried on Namjoon’s shirt and you fell asleep.
No longer having training sessions for Haru, you were able to avoid Taehyung during the week. And when his texts came in, you acted like you didn’t see them. He buzzed your apartment that next weekend as he always did, but Namjoon covered for you and said you weren’t feeling well.
“How long are you going to keep this up for?” he questioned the next week when you asked him to cover for you again that night.
You shrugged. “Until my feelings go away. Or until he gives up.”
Namjoon sighed. “Maybe you should just talk to him.”
“Namjoon, I really don’t think he’s interested. He’s probably wrapped up in Nayeon anyway. Talking to him will just complicate things.”
“You can’t keep avoiding him.”
“Why not?”
“Because for all he knows, you hate him now.”
You curled up under your blanket and ignored your best friend. Haru nudged your hand, his sign that he wanted to go for a walk.
“Go take Haru for a walk and get out of this house. You only leave to go to work now, and it’s getting a little sad. I can’t be your only friend.”
“You’re not my only friend!”
“Haru doesn’t count,” Namjoon countered. “Go take a walk, get some fresh air, talk to some strangers.”
“I shouldn’t talk to strangers.”
“Get out of this apartment before I kick you out.”
“What if Tae is out?”
“Just go to the other dog park. Stop looking for excuses and go.”
You groaned and then sat up, shooting him a glare before you put Haru in his harness and finally stepped out of the apartment.
Avoiding your usual dog park, you took a longer route to get to the dog park Namjoon had mentioned. Haru seemed to perk up when you rounded the corner, and you realized why a moment later. Taehyung was in the middle of the park standing next to what appeared to be a ball of fur. It moved, and when you looked closer you saw that it was a small, brown Pomeranian. This must’ve been his own dog that he was talking about.
You were just about to turn around and walk back when Haru started barking. “Quiet!” you whispered, but it was too late. Taehyung was looking up at you, and when he caught your eye he waved you over.
Not wanting to be rude, you walked your traitorous dog over to him.
“Hey, buddy!” Taehyung said and bent down, petting Haru. Yeontan blinked up at you, two angry looking eyebrows above his eyes, a stark difference from his excited tail wagging. You bent down too and gave him a little pet, if nothing but to ignore the fact that you were standing in front of the guy you’d been avoiding for several days.
“I should get going,” you said.
“You just got here.”
“I was just taking Haru out for a small walk.” You started to pull Haru away, and he whined pitifully as Yeontan got farther away from him.
“Y/N, can we talk?”
“I really have to get back home. I, um, have water boiling for my tea.”
“You left your water boiling?”
Your back was to him by now but you paused, knowing your excuse was absolutely moronic.
“The least you could do is invite me over for some tea.”
“Tae—”
“You’ve ignored me for two weeks. Can we please talk?”
You turned around, and you could see the hurt in his eyes. Namjoon had been right—you couldn’t ignore him forever. Taehyung had become one of your best friends, you owed it to him to let him know why you were avoiding him now.
“Okay.”
Haru and Yeontan went running off into your apartment when you opened the door, and Taehyung took a seat at the kitchen table as you rifled in the cabinets for your tea. Namjoon was nowhere to be found, so the apartment was quiet save for your dogs playing.
“Has everything been okay?” Taehyung asked.
“Yeah,” you replied. “I’ve been fine.”
You finally found the box of tea and took two sachets out, plopping them into mugs and starting your boiling water. Your back was still turned to Taehyung, but you could hear him readjust in his seat.
“Why haven’t you texted me, then?”
“I’ve just been busy.”
“Bullshit.”
You turned around, eyes wide. Taehyung actually looked mad, his jaw clenched.
“I—”
“If you don’t like me anymore, just tell me. Don’t ghost me.”
“No, that’s not it!”
“Then what is it? Why have you been ignoring me for weeks? Why can you barely look at me?”
“It's complicated.”
“Don't give me that excuse, tell me why you've been ignoring me.”
“Because I like you!” you blurted out.
The apartment was silent. Haru and Yeontan must’ve settled down somewhere.
“What?”
“I like you, Taehyung. And it hurt too much seeing you with someone else.”
“You like me?” he asked. The water beeped that it was done, and you turned your back to him and distracted yourself with pouring the water into the mugs.
“I like you,” you said quietly. “But we’re just friends, right?”
“We’re both idiots,” Taehyung said behind you.
You heard a shuffle and then he was turning you around, his chocolate eyes inches away from you.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you, Tae, I didn’t—”
“I should’ve been the one to tell you.”
You cocked your head to the side. “What?”
“God, Y/N, why are we both so clueless?”
Your head was spinning, and you leaned against the counter to steady yourself. “What do you mean?”
“I’ve been flirting with you for months.”
“You flirt with everyone,” you said.
Taehyung shook his head and took a step closer to you. “Not like I do with you,” he said softly.
“So are you saying that you like me too?” you asked.
“That’s exactly what I’m saying.”
You were breathless, unable to say anything.
“You kept brushing off my advances so I thought you just wanted to stay friends.”
“I thought you just wanted to be friends!”
Taehyung rested his forehead against yours, and your breath mingled together.
“I really don’t want to be just your friend.”
“But what about Nayeon?” you asked.
Taehyung put his hand on your hip, rubbing small circles into it which made your stomach flip.
“I just walk her dog a couple times a week, she doesn’t mean anything to me.”
“But—”
“Y/N, for the love of god, please stop talking so I can kiss you now.”
You shut up and your eyes fluttered closed as Taehyung wrapped his other hand around your head and pressed his lips against yours. You’d imagined what it would be like to kiss him, but your imagination couldn’t even compare to the real thing. His lips were soft, and he moved slowly against yours before he ran his tongue against your lip and you opened your mouth against his. He tasted like strawberries, and you leaned in closer to him and sighed softly. His hand moved from your hip to your back, pulling you as close as he could.
“The tea,” you mumbled against his lips, and he pulled you away from the counter, still moving his tongue against yours.
“Fuck the tea,” his voice was husky, sending a shiver down your spine.
He pushed you against the kitchen table, and you sat on it and wrapped your legs around him as he continued kissing you, making your head swim. His hands were everywhere but it somehow wasn’t enough, and you arched your back into him and wove your fingers into his hair. He trailed kisses from your lips to your neck, going down further until he reached the neckline of your shirt. He looked up at you devilishly, and you pulled your shirt off without a word. He reached behind you for the clasp of your bra, and then he finally had his lips wrapped around your nipple.
“Tae,” you said breathlessly, gently pulling on his hair.
“I can’t tell you how long I’ve imagined this for,” he said, and you moaned softly and grinded your hips against him.
“So have I,” you admitted, not even caring about the blush that was creeping up your neck. Not when he had moved to your other breast and was softly sucking on your nipple.
You kept moving your hips, and Taehyung finally pulled away with a glint in his eye. He tugged gently on your waistband, and you wiggled your hips and let him pull your jeans down. He pushed you back further on the table and bent down, kissing along the band of your panties before he slowly, achingly pulled them down your legs. You were sure you were absolutely red in the face now, completely naked in front of him, sprawled out on the kitchen table. But he looked down at you as if you were found treasure, a mixture of awe and hunger on his face.
“You just going to stare?” you asked, suddenly nervous.
“I want to remember this for the rest of my life,” he said. His voice was even rougher now, and before you could respond he ran his middle finger in between your folds, causing your breath to catch in your throat.
“You’re already dripping, holy shit.”
“You always make me this wet,” you said.
His head snapped up and he looked at you. “Have you thought about me before?”
“Sometimes at night.”
He groaned and tipped his head back. “You’re so fucking hot.”
He moved his finger again and you dropped your head to the table, unable to think straight. He teased your entrance with his finger, but then he moved it away and you felt his breath against you. His hot breaths made you tingle, and then his tongue was on you, lapping up your juices and pressing against your hole and your clit in cycles. You were moaning now, your head foggy with pleasure. His fingers joined his tongue, and he finally moved one finger in, curling up and making you pull his hair harder.
“You like that?” he asked against you, lips pressed up against your clit.
“Fucking hell, yes,” you gasped out, and then Tae grabbed the backs of your knees and slung your legs over his shoulders, pulling you closer to him. He inserted another finger, pumping in and out slowly as he sucked on your clit. You thought you were going to go insane, bucking your hips up into his face and moaning his name. Your orgasm was building already, and with every curl of his fingers you were seeing lights in front of your closed eyes.
“Look at how filthy you are,” he said. “Wet and moaning on a kitchen table. You’re already dripping and you haven’t even had my cock yet.”
“Oh my god,” you moaned, grinding your hips into his tongue. “Keep talking like that, please.”
“Really?” he asked, and the innocence in his voice made you pick your head up. He was looking at you with a twinkle in his eyes. “So you like it dirty, don’t you?”
“Quit teasing, you asshole.”
He pumped his fingers in harder this time and you bit down on your lip to stifle your gasp.
“My fingers are soaked, do you always get this wet for guys?” he asked, continuing to thrust his fingers in harder and faster.
“No,” you said, moving your hips into his thrusts. “Only for you.”
“What was that?” he asked. “I couldn’t quite hear it.”
He put pressed his tongue against your clit and you screamed, “Only for you! Fuck!”
“That’s my girl,” he hummed against your clit, curling his fingers up again. Your thighs were trembling against his face, and you had to stop yourself from squeezing them shut so that you wouldn’t suffocate him.
“Keep hitting right there,” you said breathlessly, your orgasm building. You smacked your head against the table and massaged his head as he continued to thrust into you, and before you could even warn him, you were clenching around his fingers, your release making you moan his name. He continued to pump in and out of you slowly until you finally came down, and then he inched up your body and kissed along your hairline before pressing his lips to yours.
“I bet you can taste yourself, can’t you?” he asked when he pulled away. You sat up and nodded, and he ran his thumb against your bottom lip. “Are you going to clean off my fingers?”
He didn’t have to ask you twice; you took his fingers into your mouth and wrapped your tongue around them, cleaning your juices off of him and then releasing them from your mouth with a pop.
“That’s one of the hottest things I’ve ever seen,” he groaned, and you could see his bulge straining against his pants. Your hands were still shaking from your orgasm, but you were able to unzip his pants and push them down, and then you dipped your hand into his briefs and pulled out his dick. It was red at the tip, already leaking a bit, and when you dropped to your knees and licked your tongue against the slit he hissed and wrapped his hand in your hair.
“I take it back, this is the hottest thing I’ve ever seen,” he said, looking down at you with his cock in your mouth. You bobbed your head up and down his dick, all the while looking up at him. He was biting on his lip as to not make a sound, but you could tell by his tightening fist that he was probably going to lose it soon.
“Do you like that, baby? My thick cock filling your mouth?”
“Hmmm,” you moaned against his dick, and the vibration made him throw his head backwards. Your hand ran up his thigh and fondled his balls, and he groaned and stepped backwards, making his cock fall out of your mouth.
“If you keep doing that I’m going to cum.”
“Isn’t that the point?” you asked innocently.
“Where’s your bedroom?” he asked.
You pointed to the closest door, and then he was pulling you toward it, slamming the door behind you two so that no one could enter. He was kissing you again, slowly pushing you backwards into the room until your knees hit the bed and you fell onto it. He pulled away to finally take his shirt off, exposing his tanned chest. He hovered over you, arms around your head as he dipped down and kissed you. You bit down on his lip a little, causing him to moan against you.
“You like it rough, you dirty girl?”
“Fuck yes,” you said, wrapping your legs around his waist. But he shook his head and moved your legs away from him.
“Get on your hands and knees.”
Pleasure shot through your core at his command, and you did as he said, waiting for his touch. When he finally palmed your ass, you moaned and rested your head on the bed.
“Keep your head up,” he said, grabbing your hair and pulling just enough to be a little painful. You moaned again and dipped your head down a little bit so he’d pull it up again.
He rubbed his dick up and down your slit, and you thrust your hips back against him.
“You’re eager, aren’t you?” he asked, teasing you by pushing the tip against your entrance and pulling away.
“Fuck me, Tae,” you begged. “I’m on the pill, just fuck me already.”
“I can’t believe you’re bent over begging for my cock,” his voice sounded nearly strangled, and then he thrust into you swiftly, burying himself up to the hilt. He stayed there for a few seconds, letting you adjust, and then he was snapping his hips back, setting a bruising pace. He filled you up every inch, and your arms were growing weak trying to keep yourself up. You’d never felt so full, and so complete, in your life. His hips smacked against your ass, the sound obscenely loud in your empty apartment.
“You’re so fucking tight,” he said, thrusting into your harder. “When’s the last time you got fucked?”
“I don’t even remember,” you confessed, breathless. “Never like this.”
“No one’s ever fucked you this hard?”
You dropped your head down, and he pulled on your hair again. You screamed and clutched the sheets, thrusting your hips into his.
“No, no one’s ever fucked me this hard, oh my god!”
“Do you like it, baby?” he asked, tilting his hips to hit a new spot.
“Oh my god, yes!” you screamed, nearly tearing into your sheets. “I’m so close.”
He suddenly pulled out of you and flipped you onto your back, wrapping your legs around his waist. You were grateful to no longer have to keep yourself up, your chest heaving with your heavy breaths. You were absolutely throbbing, seconds away from your orgasm.
“I want to see your face when you cum,” he said, and thrust into you again, hard and deep. “Cum around my cock, baby.”
At his words, you came, screaming his name and bucking your hips against him as you rode out your orgasm. Your nails scratched down his back and with a couple more thrusts he was joining you, stifling his moan by capturing your lips in a heated kiss. He slowed down as he came against your walls, filling you up so that when he finally pulled out, his cum dripped out of you mixed with your own juices.
The two of you lied there for a while, tongues pressed against each other and soft hands cupping each other’s faces.
Just when you thought your lips were going to bruise, Taehyung pulled away.
“You’re going to have to wash your sheets,” he said sheepishly.
“I might just throw them away,” you admitted, looking down at the mess you made. You started to get up but Taehyung pushed you back down and got up instead, walking to your bathroom and running a washcloth under the sink. When he came back, he kissed up your thighs and wiped you down, cleaning up the stickiness between your legs. Then he pulled your toward his side of the bed and you curled yourself around him, legs interwoven.
“Did that really just happen?” he asked incredulously.
“It really did,” you said, equally surprised.
“Was I too rough?” He sounded genuinely concerned. When he looked down at you, you smiled at him.
“No, you were perfect. I see why you’re a trainer now, though,” you said with a giggle.
“Shut up,” he grumbled, but pulled you closer to him.
“I bet you can teach me some new tricks,” you said, tracing your finger along his chest.
“You're never gonna stop with the trainer jokes, are you?”
“You're the one who wanted to do it doggy style,” you pointed out.
“Okay, you make a good point there. But that was a coincidence.”
You giggled and sighed against him. “I can’t believe you trained him for free. I sincerely hope you charge your other clients.”
“I’ve only ever trained your dog free of charge,” Taehyung said softly.
“Wow, you really did want to get in my pants,” you said.
He hugged you closer and rested his chin on the top of your head. “I told you I’d get to know you, didn’t I?”
“I suppose you did.”
You were absolutely spent, and you felt your limbs grow heavy and your breathing slow as you laid against him.
“Get some rest, angel,” he said, his lips brushing against your hair. He hummed a song and rubbed your back, and you were finally lulled to sleep.
When you woke up a few hours later, the bed was empty. Taehyung’s shirt was no longer on the floor, and you opened your door and looked around. He was nowhere to be found. You walked around the apartment and saw that Namjoon still wasn’t home, and then you noticed that Haru was also missing.
Unless Taehyung had fucked you in an elaborate plan to steal your dog, he was most likely out taking the dogs for a walk. You stilled your thumping heart by pouring out the now cold tea and cleaning up the mugs. By the time you were done he was knocking on the door, and when you opened it Taehyung was standing before you, two leashes in one hand and a tray with coffee in the other.
“The tea got cold, so I figured I’d pick up something to drink,” he said, smiling at you.
You let him in and picked Haru up, giving him a kiss on the nose before setting him back down and giving equal attention to Yeontan.
“He’s the angriest looking dog I’ve ever seen,” you said when you picked him up, holding his fluffy little form in front of you.
“The second I saw him, I fell in love,” Taehyung said and set the coffees down on the table.
“That’s how I felt about Haru.” You set Yeontan down with a little pat on the head and then sat at the kitchen table, taking a coffee and staring down at it. You’d just fucked your friend, and you didn’t know what that meant now.
“Did I worry you by disappearing?” he asked. “I wanted to leave a note but I couldn’t find any paper. Do you and Namjoon have something against paper in this house?”
You laughed a little and looked up at him. “We try to keep our paper usage to a minimum.”
“I’m sorry if I was, um, too much earlier.” Taehyung wasn’t looking at you now, and you could have sworn he was blushing.
“I like it like that,” you said, putting your hand on his chin and tipping his face up so he’d look at you. “Did you like it?”
“I liked it a lot,” he said with a small smile.
“So…” you trailed off.
“Are you going to ignore me again?” Taehyung asked.
You shook your head no. “You know how I feel now.”
“And now you know how I feel too.”
The two of you looked at each other in silence for a few moments, and then both of you started speaking at the same time.
“I really want—”
“Do you want t—”
“Sorry, you go ahead,” you said.
“Do you want to go on a proper date with me?” Taehyung asked you.
“Oh!” you replied. “I was actually going to suggest that.”
He pulled your chair closer to him and pecked you on the lips. You could feel him smile against you, and you leaned forward and kissed him again.
“Just so you know, I only do exclusive relationships,” Taehyung said.
“Is this already a relationship?” you asked, nervous to hear his answer.
“Of course it is.”
You kissed him again, and your tongue was just brushing against his lip when Namjoon came in the door. The two of you jumped away from each other, but you could see Namjoon roll his eyes.
“It’s about damn time,” he said, dropping his keys on the table and nodding his head at Taehyung. “How did you like that new dog park?”
“Thanks for suggesting it to me, I found exactly what I needed,” Taehyung said.
“Wait!” You looked in between the two boys. “Did you set this up?”
“I just suggested the same dog park to both of you, and you both happened to go to it at the same time.”
“Oh my god,” you said, reality sinking in. Your friend really managed to finally hook you up with Taehyung.
“Did you know I was going to be there?” you asked.
Taehyung threw his hands up in defense. “I didn’t, but I had a feeling you might show up.”
“Men,” you huffed, but you shot Namjoon an appreciative glance before he went into his room and closed the door.
“Hey, do you regret going there now?” Taehyung asked, pulling your chair closer to him again.
You sighed and threw your arms around his neck. “No, it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.”
Haru came up and pressed his nose up against your leg, and you looked down at him and smiled. “It’s really all thanks to this furball from hell,” you said. “If I hadn’t gotten him, I never would’ve needed a dog trainer.”
“Maybe you can get another dog and I can help you train that one.”
“Or maybe we can just go on dates like normal and stop coming up with new tricks for my dog just to spend time together.”
Taehyung leaned in and you could feel him smiling against your lips again. “Sounds like a plan.”
I was wondering, could we get a ficlet of the gang finding Sly at last, only to discover he’s dead? Only if you allow the angst.
I am publishing this with ask attached so that when people ask me ‘Moonstone why????’ I can honestly say ‘I am only giving what was asked for.’
It had been the longest year of Carmelita Fox’s life, months of tears and stress and searching. Of endless days and sleepless nights, of frustration and fear and a gnawing, growing sense of hopelessness. But now it was so nearly over.
Carmelita watched Bentley gently unwrap the ancient kopesh (she had tactfully decided not press about how he had obtained it).
“You’re sure this will take us to him?” She asked.
“If I’ve done my math right.” Bentley nodded. “This will take us to exactly when Sly was dropped in Egypt.”
“Good.” Carmelita stared at the sword, an odd thing to rest all your hopes on. A weapon. But perhaps it was fitting, she thought looking at the curved blade that reminded her so much of Sly’s cane. She climbed up into the van. “Are we ready?”
“The Murray is as ready as he’ll ever be.” Murray, already strapped into the driver’s seat slammed a fist against his open palm. “Let’s bring Sly home.”
“Couldn’t have said it better myself Big Guy.” Bentley fiddled with a dial. “We’re good here. Punch it Murray.”
Murray threw a lever on the dash. “Hang onto your lunches guys. Next stop the past.”
The van began to pick up speed, Carmelita held onto her seat and closed her eyes against the flash of light that heralded a jump.
The three of them were on their way.
They were going to bring Sly home.
The desert sands of Egypt sprawled before them, on the distant horizon Carmelita could see the pyramids, gleaming white and brand new under the sun. A few hundred yards off from where the van had landed was what looked like a stand of small, square houses made of mud brick.
“I’m not picking up a signal from Sly’s binocucom.” Bentley muttered, his own was in his hands and he was flicking through read out screens.
“Maybe the battery is flat?” Murray suggested.
“It shouldn’t be… I built the battery packs in these to last y’know. Hmmm…” He hummed for a minute. “Maybe it broke?”
“Maybe.” Carmelita said as she looked at the houses. Cooper hunting 101: find the high ground. “I guess we’ll just have to find him the old fashioned way.” She pointed. “I think if I get up on top of those houses I’ll be able to get a pretty good look at the area.”
Bentley tucked his bincocucom away. “Good idea Inspector.”
It didn’t take much to get up on the rooftops.
Murray waiting below had given Carmelita his binocucom to use. She pulled it out to scan the surroundings and almost immediately realised that she didn’t need it.
“Guys?” Carmelita said. “I think I know where Sly is.”
“You do? That was quick.”
“Yeah, looks like he left us a pretty big calling card.”
On top of one of the houses was the stylised image of a raccoon face.
Sly’s insignia.
Carmelita was already running. “I’ll meet you at the front door.” She said.
“Roger Carmelita, tracking your position.”
The flat, close rooftops made for a short dash and Carmelita leapt down in front of the little house.
The door to the house was open and there was a young black hat sweeping and humming absently in the doorway. She dropped her broom, mouth open in shock at Carmelita’s sudden appearance.
“Sorry.” Carmelita said holding up both hands. “Sorry I don’t meant to frighten you but I’m looking for someone…”
Blinking, eyes wide the girl turned back over shoulder calling into the house. “Grandmother, Grandmother they’re here. Grandmother it’s them!” She looked past Carmelita at the approaching figures of Bentley and Murray. “I never thought… I… didn’t think… Oh.” She gave a little gasp. “Forgive me.” She stepped aside. “Please come in.”
“You were expecting us?” Carmelita asked, slowly stepping inside.
“Grandmother certainly has been.” The girl answered.
The interior of the house was small, Carmelita could see two other rooms leading off the main space. A small cooking fire burned in the grate and another black cat, sat at the low central table. This one was older, her sun-bleached hair and fur lightening to grey and her face weathered by the years looked up at Carmelita with an expectant fondness, like she was about to greet an old friend.
“You must be Carmelita. Please sit.”
“I am.” Carmelita said. At a loss for anything else to do Carmelita sat, mirroring the old cat’s position.
“Miriam was right. It really is you. Are Bentley and Murray with you?”
“They are, they’re right behind me.”
“They’re coming now Grandmother.” Miriam said from the doorway.
Well, they were certainly in the right place. “You know about us?”
“Of course, Sly spoke of you often. But I think perhaps explanations should wait until you are all here.”
Carmelita supposed Sly must have stayed here for a time, told some stories, probably flirted with Miriam. How long had he been gone? She wondered, how much of a headstart did he have this time?
A confused Bentley and Murray were ushered in.
“Where’s Sly?” Murray asked.
“Not here anymore I don’t think.” Carmelita said.
The old cat beckoned to her granddaughter and whispered something, Miriam nodded retreating to one of the other rooms.
“Well now.” The cat looked at them each in turn her eyes crinkling. “To think I would finally get to meet you all. I should have known really, Sly always said you would come. I am Esther.”
The boys murmured polite hellos.
“I am glad you are here, I am glad that I can finally give you this. He wanted you three to have it.” Esther offered them a gentle, slightly sad smile.
Miriam reemerged carrying something delicately wrapped in cotton. She laid it on the table.
“He used to say…” Esther continued, “that one day you would come but if you did not then my children’s children and their children too should keep this and maybe one day take it to Paris. The place from his stories. But you are here now. This is as it should be.” She unwrapped the bundle.
Sly’s cane lay on the table before them.
Carmelita went cold, Sly would never leave his cane behind. She looked at Esther. “I don’t understand… where is he?”
Esther’s smile faded, “oh child.” She said softly, pityingly. “I am sorry… I thought you knew… I thought you would have known… he has died.”
“Dead?” Bentley choked out. “When? How?”
Carmelita braced herself, trying to stay upright. It couldn’t be right, it had to be a mistake, a trick… something. She looked at the cane on the table, it was no fake, it was definitely Sly’s cane. Older and more battered but definitely his.
“He passed shortly after the last harvest.” Miriam explained. “He was so old, I think it was a blessing.”
“He was… he was what?” Bentley didn’t sound like he was processing any better than Carmelita.
“Old.” The girl repeated. “Older than Grandmother.”
“How… how is that possible?” Carmelita looked at Bentley.
“There… there must have been an error when I was carbon dating the kopesh… I don’t… I’ve…” Bentley dragged his hands down his face.
Murray meanwhile had picked up Sly’s cane and was cradling it across the palms of his large hands. “How long was he here?” He asked softly.
“Many years.” Esther confirmed. “All my life at least. My mother found him wandering in the desert and she brought him home. When she married my father a few years later, my father adopted Sly as his brother so that Sly could remain as part of the household. He was our uncle, he doted on my siblings and I. I think he may have had a particular soft spot for me, perhaps that was because I never stopped believing his wonderful stories.
Carmelita couldn’t breathe. Decades. Sly had been alone here for years. A full generation. How lonely he must have been. Had he waited and waited day after day for the three of them and they had never come. Had he felt forgotten? Abandoned?
“Was he happy?” Murray asked, sniffling.
“I think he was.” Esther nodded. “I know he missed all of you, he spoke of you often and with such love but I think he grew to love us too. This became his home, he was a hero to many of us. There was a famine when I was a girl, the local priests had grown corrupt and claimed the poor harvest was a sign of displeasure from their gods and refused to lend aid. Sly stole from the temple granaries, he kept our whole valley fed. He saved us all that year.”
“That sounds like Sly.” Bentley croaked out.
“I am sorry, truly I am.”
“Thank you.” Carmelita said rising. “We should... we should go.”
“Carmelita?” Murray looked at her.
“Are you sure child? You may stay here if you require rest and you are welcome to break bread with us. It is the least we can do.”
Carmelita shook her head, she needed to get outside, needed to leave. “No thank you. We should... we should go.”
Esther nodded, “as you will. I wish you a safe journey home.”
As Carmelita stumbled outside she heard Murray thank the old woman, for taking care of Sly.
Carmelita walked across the sand as far as she could from the house until her knees gave way and she collapsed to all fours. They were too late, too late, he was gone. They’d failed. No, no, no, no.
“Carmelita?” Bentley called, his modded wheelchair moving quickly over the sand.
Carmelita took a deep breath, getting back to her feet. “We have to find him.” She said.
Bentley shook his head, looking up at her. “I... I don’t know how... This is all my fault.. he’s gone...”
“What good is a time machine if we can’t change that? We need to go back and find him sooner. The kopesh wasn’t what we needed so we find something else here. Surely we can find a... pot or some jewellery or... or something that was made within the last few decades and then we go back and we find Sly before all this happens.” She flung out an arm.
“You... you’re right.” Bentley took off his glasses to wipe his streaming eyes. “I hadn’t thought of that.”
“Guys...” Murray said quietly. “Are you sure?”
“What do you mean?” Carmelita demanded.
“Sly was happy here, he had a life. He was part of a family.” He was looking at Sly’s cane still in his hands.
“We’re his family.” Bentley interrupted. He put his glasses back on and raised his chin. “Carmelita’s right. We just need to try again and this time we’ll get it right.”
Beckett
I can’t do this. It’s just too much. I know I’ve let you down again big brother. Tell Y/N thank you for giving me yet another chance I didn’t deserve. Tell Beckett I love him but I just can’t be the father he needs right now. Not sure I ever will be. Beckett’s birth certificate and other important papers are in his diaper bag. I want you and Y/N to take custody of Beckett.
His signature appeared under with the date.
Peter read the letter. He frowned and furrowed his brow. “My wife’s friend is a great family law attorney. I’ll give her a call and figure out what you guys need to do next. I’ll be in touch.” Peter nodded then showed himself out.
“Son. I just don’t understand why you let him in again. Why you trusted him.” William stood in the living room. “This time he’s really messed up.”
Mike crossed his arms, his mouth was a thin line. “Wasn’t exactly my idea.” He shot a look at you.
“Don’t start again Mike. I know it’s all my fault. I’m too nice, too trusting, give people too many chances, which usually comes back to bite me in the ass. If he hadn’t been here, who knows where or with who he would have left Beckett with.” With your hands on your hips, you drew yourself taller. No way you were backing down. You feel angry tears threatening your resolve.
Anne stood beside you. “This is not Y/N’s fault. This rests solely on Matt. The only thing that matters right now is making sure that baby knows he is loved and will never be abandoned again.” Anne turned to you. “I’ll help you make some lunch. Maybe everyone will be a bit more amenable after they’ve eaten.”
William and Mike exchanged looks. Mike’s face softened and William looked at his feet.
“Right behind you, Anne.” You shook your head. “Both of you are unbelievable you know that. This is about Beckett, not me, not Matt or you William. This isn’t about placing blame if it is I’ll shoulder it. I’m a big girl because I know in my heart we did the right thing.” You started to follow Anne but turned back around. “Mike, you of all people should be thankful I’m forgiving and give multiple chances.” Mike gave you a wounded look as you went to the kitchen.
Later that evening after the kids had been given a bath and put to bed, you put on the tea kettle. While you waited for the kettle to heat up, you readied your mug with your tea bag and took the honey from the cabinet.
“Hey. Enough for two cups?” Mike shuffled into the kitchen. The two of you had barely talked to one another since earlier that afternoon.
“Yep.”
Mike hopped up to sit on the counter. “Hey. Stop for a second. Please look at me.” Mike took your hands and drew you to stand between his legs. “I’m sorry about this afternoon. I hate to see people take advantage of your good heart. I was angry but not with you. But I took my frustrations out on you and I apologize. ”
“ I do give people too many chances. I just, I saw Matt with Beckett and thought if anything can change a person, it’s becoming a parent.”
“You know one of the reasons I fell in love with you was your big heart and your ability to forgive. You always see the good in people.”
“I try.” You sighed heavily.
“We are here to discuss the matter of the minor child Beckett Sawyer Dodds, age three months. From statements, it looks like Matthew Dodds and his infant son began staying at the residence of Michael and Y/N Dodds on or about August 10. On October 13 he left without taking his son with him leaving a note requesting you and your wife take custody. Mother, Sarah Barnes, whereabouts are unknown.”
“That is correct your honor. The mother left shortly after Beckett was born and has made no contact since that time. Neither has Matthew, his whereabouts are also unknown. We request Beckett be placed in temporary custody ” The attorney that Peter introduced you to was amazing. She got an emergency hearing on Monday morning.
“I agree with the council. Sergeant Dodds. Mrs. Dodds. Do you agree to take temporary custody of said infant until any other family is found and if any other living relatives are not found, you are willing to take permanent custody?”
“Yes, your honor,” Mike responded.
Beckett was sleeping in your arms. “Yes, your honor. I agree.”
Judge Linden smiled. “We’ll schedule a permanent custody hearing at a later date. Barring any issues with home visits, which I don’t foresee, and if no other family members are found, you will be granted permanent custody at that time. Please see the court register. There are documents to sign. Good luck.”
“I can’t believe he’s a year old,” Mike held to a giggling Beckett who was covered in icing. Your home was filled with family and friends to celebrate his birthday.
The transition had been smooth. No other family members had come forward. Matt was in rehab in Mexico for the hundredth time and signed away rights. Sarah, Beckett’s mom had not been located. The adoption process was started three months ago and would be finalized next month.
“I know.” He had been such a delight. It was nice to have a baby in the house again. “I-uh-I’m going to refill the punch.”
Mike passed Beckett to Anne, who gave Mike a sad smile as you left the room. Mike watched you from the kitchen doorway. When you were unable to reach the extra punch bowl in the top cabinet, he easily passed it down to you.
“Thanks.”
He didn’t miss the tears that were in your eyes. “Hey. Talk to me.” He gently stopped your gait.
“I-I feel-,” you shook your head. “Nevermind. It’s not important.”
Mike brushed the tears from your cheeks. “It is important. Tell me. Please.”
“I-”
“Mom!” Isaac, Noah, and Julian came racing into the kitchen. “The girls just knocked down our castle.”
Cora, Jesse, and Audra were hot on their heels. “I not mean it!” Cora exclaimed through tears.
“You did it on purpose.” Isaac countered.
“Sorry,” Mike mouthed to you. “Okay. Everyone calm down. Out of the kitchen,” Mike said calmly and took charge of the situation. “We’ll talk tonight. Promise.”
“Sure,” you nodded and gave him a small smile.
“What a mess,” you muttered to yourself as you surveyed the damage after everyone had left. Paper plates, cups, and napkins were scattered around the house. Half ate cupcakes left behind, wrapping paper strewn around the room and balloons both inflated and flat rounded out the mess.
“Once the kids came down from their sugar high they crashed,” Mike said as he came into the family room. He passed you a hot cup of coffee, which you accepted gratefully. “Wow. Looks like a bomb went off in here.”
You chuckled. “Remind of today the next time I want to host a birthday party at home.” You sighed. “I guess I’ll grab some garbage bags so we can get started with the cleanup.”
Mike took your hand. “I thought we could talk. We got interrupted earlier.” Mike nodded to the couch. “Let’s sit,” Mike patted the seat beside him.
You placed your mug on the coffee table and wrapped your arms around yourself as you walked to the window. “I still struggle some days. Beckett and our baby would be close to the same age.” You swallowed the lump in your throat.
Mike rose from the couch and joined you at the window. He wrapped his arms around you pulling you against his chest. “I think about that too.”
“I love him so much. It’s just hard. I can’t imagine not having him. And that’s the other thing…” You took a steadying breath. “What if Matt or Sarah come back and try to take him. I know it sounds selfish but he’s ours, not theirs. These are the thoughts that keep me awake at night and that make hypervigilant when I’m out with the kids. The adoption isn’t final-”
Mike turned you in his arms and cupped your face in his hands. “Hey. I would never let that happen. There is no way they could get him back even if they tried. Sarah abandoned him one week after he was born, Matt three months and he signed away all parental rights. Both are addicts and have made no attempt to check on his well being.” He pulled you to his chest and kissed your temple.
You just let him hold you for a couple minutes. “Yeah. I know you’re right,” you finally acknowledged.
Mike pulled back and looked down at you. His brows shot up in surprise and he put a hand over his heart. “Did-did you say I’m right? I’ve dreamed of this day and it’s here. And it’s just as wonderful as I hoped.” Mike fell onto the couch in a faux faint.
“What am I going to do with you?Hmmm?”
He grabbed your hand and pulled on top of him. “I can.” He placed a kiss to your lips. “Think.” A kiss to your jaw.  “Of a few.” Kiss to your neck. “Things.”
I don't really live in one, but the closest town isn't. Which season do you want to get married in? Autumn. Are totem poles cool? YEAH! Favorite art forms? Conceptual photography. What concerts are you attending in the near future? Y'ALL I MIGHT FUCKING SEE OZZY IN JANUARY. He and Megadeth are coming to Charlotte and the tickets aren't too bad. :') It's a loooong drive but Mom was like "hell yeah" when I told her and wants to buy tickets after she gets her tax return AH. Metallica is a possibility too, but Mom doesn't think she can afford it. If you were kicked out of your house, where would you go first? Dad's. What are you currently looking forward to? Sara's b-day, Christmas, hopefully getting my laptop fixed, aforementioned concerts, and school. What was the reason you got grounded for last? Idk, that was a long time ago. But I'm scared of the Bermuda Triangle so will probably never see them. :'''''') What serves as the greatest motivation for you in your daily life? MY RECOVERY. If I got through what I have, I can't ever give up and roll back down that hill. I'm focusing to always improve. If you could have any round object in the world, what spherical item would you want? t h e  g a m e s p h e r e ,  l a d s If you were left alone for one hour with nothing more than a pen and a notepad, what would you be inclined to draw or write during those 60 minutes? Who’s the last guy to give you roses? Tyler. Did your parents do drugs when they were younger? Not to my knowledge, and I doubt they would've. Do you have any relatives who live on a different continent than you? I don't believe so. What are your religious beliefs? Were you raised with those beliefs, or did you develop them on your own? I'm a theist, entailing I believe in a creator, but I know nothing about him/her/it. I personally picture them as a peaceful and sage deity that allows life to go on without it intervening anywhere, letting the world evolve on its own and see how we adapt to our unique settings and handle life. In the end, I believe we are either given some form of paradise or a type of damnation depending on how you wrote your story. I like to imagine the good go to their personal vision of "Heaven," and I wonder if the paranormal activity some experience in life are the acts of the damned, apparently confined to remain on Earth or something. Anyway, I wasn't raised with such beliefs; they were developed. I was brought up Catholic, then I turned to just simple Christianity as I didn't agree with a lot of Catholic ideas, and most recently I abruptly turned away from that in favor of theism. How did you and your significant other celebrate your last anniversary? We went out for breakfast. What has been your favorite house/apartment/etc you’ve ever lived in? My last house for location, as a house itself, my childhood one. What’s something in your house that currently needs to be cleaned? I need to vacuum my room. Do you have a good sense of direction? Not. At. All. Who was your first crush? Did you ever actually date them? Dylan, and no. What’s the weirdest, rudest, or most ridiculous thing a guest has ever done in your home? Who knows. Has anyone ever told you you’re manipulative? I don't think so. Do you know anyone who owns their own business? No. When was the last time you weren’t 100% sober? Uhhh maybe that movie night with Colleen and Chelsea. Is obtaining a college degree something that is important to you? Well, for my possible career future. Have you ever eaten at a vegan restaurant? No. Do you view substance abuse as a disease or a choice? I have... mixed feelings here. Starting something, that is indisputably a choice. Becoming addicted though, I'm not sure. Some people have addictive personalities so have a bigger inclination to become addicted, but isn't that just a personal trait/weakness you can fight?? I dunno. I know it's labelled as a disease by people way more informed than me though, so. What does the last text you sent say? Don't feel like checking. Does it bother you when people call you ‘ma'am’ or ‘sir?’ No. I live in the South, that's polite. Have you ever been obsessed with a television character? Who did you celebrate your last birthday with? Mom, sises, Ash's husband and kids, and Dad stopped by. Was your last kiss initiated by you or the other person? I think it was kinda a simultaneous thing. We were saying bye. Do you buy a ton of things at the store at once or just for that day? Mom does the shopping, but it depends on how much time she has and what's at the house. When getting dressed do you put your pants or shirt on first? Pants. When you kiss a person where do your hands usually go? I actually don't know if it's a consistent thing for me??? I don't kiss anyone regularly so I don't recognize a pattern. What is one song you listen to that you’re sure not many people do? "False Flags," probs. Massive Attack is so neglected of the attention they deserve. Do you use a handrail on stairs if there is one? Yes, I'm scared of tripping. What was the last thing you saw that made you smile? Teddy came right up into my face wanting attention. What is your favorite drinking game? Never played any. Do you have any tattoos that you don’t like anymore? I think I've mentioned why I don't love my "ohana" one now. I'm getting it covered at some point. My "perfectly flawed" one is probably getting covered by a much bigger piece; I picked a bad location for it to want a sleeve. I couldn't even guess. Has a stranger ever offered to buy you a drink? Thank fuck no. Have you ever overflown a bathtub? Don't think so. What’s at the top of your to-do list in life? Stay positive, never stop aiming to improve. What was the last thing you shared? Well, Thanksgiving food. Where are you most ticklish? Feet. Do not- Which cartoon character do you want to keep as a pet? Uhhhh how 'bout an Espeon. I imagine them to be calm and silently affectionate like cats and very intelligent. Have you ever considered a career in music/acting? No. When was the last time you felt seriously embarrassed? Getting food yesterday. Per usual, let things die down, but I still ended up crammed in a corner, unable to go in any direction while someone was trying to get past me. I was headed for an anxiety attack and felt like a total nuisance. I'm pretty sure it showed in how I was whipping my head around, shuffling in various directions, clearly wanting the fuck out. Have you ever liked a song, looked up the lyrics to it, then hated it? No, lyrics can't ruin a song I like the sound of. What would be the icing on the cake for you this Christmas? A PS4, omg. I have to get my laptop fixed and a new camera, so I highly doubt I'm getting that or a tablet considering cost. I want to play the Spyro Reignited trilogy beyond words, like I refuse to even watch a let's play because I want to experience it all first-hand, but. Yeah, unlikely anytime soon. If you had the opportunity to live forever, would you take it? Noooooo. Do you like quesadillas? Only chicken and/or cheese ones. Did you like the show Invader Zim? I surprisingly never saw it. What’s the greatest/most influential song you’ve ever heard? "Life Won't Wait" by Ozzy always makes me wanna get off my ass and do something. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever seen in a grocery store? A HUGE BOX OF ANIMAL HEADS IN THE MIDDLE OF WAL-MART, BECKONING THE FURRIES INTO ITS DEPTHS. Have you ever bought yourself a present on Christmas? No. Well, I've used money I've been given on Christmas, if that counts. Have you ever been on a mechanical bull? No. Do you need a key card to get into the building you live in? No. Have you ever stepped in chewing gum? Yes. Name all the people you know that you’ve seen today. Just Mom.
Of Sunshine and Woes
Once again late entry. In this I tried combining day 3 laughter with day 4 spoiling akko.
To read in AO3:
https://archiveofourown.org/works/15380559/chapters/35693691
Goodness. I finally finished having a conference call with representatives of the noble families.
Ever since our last summit with the UN the agreements reached were less than satisfactory and as a result the heads of each house were rather put-off to say the least.
In a sense I do understand where they are coming from but with the anti-magic terrorist and the magic superiority one at odds it’s only reasonable that tension is high between the magic and non-magic community. It’s been like this for years already.
And that’s discounting all the alien invaders, which luckily enough is the reason why the magic and non-magic community isn’t at war yet, the mutual enemy of sorts gives them a reason for cooperation.
Space patrol is also present but they are seen with even more animosity than anyone else. Also it doesn’t help that they don’t stick around.
Luluco has of course, but after one particularly disastrous press-conference she and the rest of the galactic force opted to help in private if we ever do need it.
The organization Ursula had roped me in that summer after our first year, Star Nobles has a fairly good cooperation with Space Patrol forces and they have gotten us and the world out of some pretty fatal binds.
One in particular I was sure Akko and I were goners.
We luckily survived, but we would come to find out a consequence of that event.
2 yeas ago when we started to try for a family. We tried everything from various potions, spells and even in-vitro and nothing would work out with either of us.
We found out both of us got irreversible damage in our system concerning procreation.
This left both Akko and I rather crestfallen.
However things between Akko hardly turn out predictable.
I stare at my wife. The television is on and she’s sound asleep. No surprise there.
The amazing charion kids show is on, followed by the Constella friends, the show based on the children constellation book Akko co-wrote with Ursula.
I notice the blanket falling down and I go grab it to cover Akko and her protruding belly.
It would seem miracles never do stop occurring when we are in proximity of each other.
Good thing Luluco suggested a space trip to make us get away from all the tension and sadness a few months back.
We did consider adoption of course, but we needed time to come to terms with how things were.
It was like a honeymoon again and we’ve been to space previously already a few times.
Despite it all being away from our respective jobs did wonders and about 2 months after our 2 week trip in space I noticed akko having puking spells, dizziness and other symptoms.
Having known our particular conditions I could never imagine what it actually was, even having done a quick check-up for akko, it left me baffled and we went to the doctors and even they couldn’t explain it, but there it was with no amount of uncertainty. We were going to be parents.
I look at my wife’s lovely features as I softly move away a stray hair. We had the day off today and we had gone for a short walk and to a nice restaurant to eat. The rest of the day was spent relaxing at home, until I got called and practically demanded to be in the conference call. Akko wasn’t too happy to have her pampering cut short.
She’s too adorable and I still feel dazed at times thinking this is our reality. That we found each other again at Luna Nova, found love and support in each other, married and now we are embarking on another adventure together.
“Mhmmm….Dia…?” she reaches out for me. Her eyes are still shut, I smile and proceed to grab her hand and slowly sit down next to her.  “I’m here love”
Akko squints her eyes open and starts pouting. “You’re late” she petulantly announces while having moved away from me a bit.
“Hmmm…the conference call ran late, you know how it gets with them….”
“Yeah those old windbags don’t know when to stop nagging” Akko dramatically throws her head back but starts peering sideways back to me.
“Might I remind you I’m am technically one of the noble families love? Am I to assume you are calling me an old windbag as well? And what about Croix and Ricardo?”
“Yup all of you’s” she announces boomingly despite only being us two in the room. My wife is as incorrigible as she is adorable.  I can’t even stay mad and my smile slips through trying to feign offended.
Akko notices and smiles my way. She leans again to my side on the coach.
Our lives are still hectic and all the new nine witches have been fairly busy these last 10+ years after luna nova.
Various breakups, marriages, adoptions, deaths, births and wonderful new experiences as well as perilous and life threatening ones.
Despite all of this, through all the ups and downs I always find myself gravitating and finding solace, peace and happiness in the woman now wrapped in my arms.
The blanket while not immensely big is just about enough to cover us both.  We finally open our eyes, reveling in each other’s presence and the sheer luck and miracle to not only be having a child, but to even be able to have this special and dare I say idyllic moment.
We focus back on the tv. It looks like re-reruns of Amazing Charion and Constella Friends are over. It would appear Andrew is on. Well a re-run of yesterday’s press conference anyway.
‘Our nation’s and planet's progress is important, but so is communication, cooperation and communication.’
Goodness, a mere 15 years back if anyone had told her Andrew would be a liaison for the magic and non-magic world I would laugh at them, but people change. I am one such example as well. While I am always grateful of the people I go to help as a medical practitioner, it is amazing the amount of people Akko manages to positively affect and bring joy to just by existing in their life.
“We made that happen” Akko points at the screen. I am brought back to present. Andrew has brought his little 3 year old boy up the podium. Andrew’s dad no doubt coaxed him into using child for the campaign for minister of state. Andrew prefers his privacy after all, but the pride on his face while holding his son couldn’t be more genuine.
Akko has a huge smile on her face so I curl my lips into a teasing smile.
“Don’t think we played a part in little Michael’s conception Akko”
She pouts but then smiles towards me with a mischievous glint in her eyes
“Well technically we did though! If we hadn’t set up-“
“If you didn’t setup Andrew and Blair up you mean” I quipped back
“Don’t try to be coy with me Dia!” she flares up her nose and has a determined look on her face.
To be fair it was a team effort. Although it was Akko that started seducing me on the idea.
“I can assure you both are the guilty parties”
“Andrew!” we both said in unison.
“Auwntie Diana, auwntie Akko!” the little 3 year old comes running clumsily towards us, but stops from jumping on us, remembering the caution Andrew told him about Akko and the baby.
So he gingerly climbs on the couch right in the middle of both of us. We both proceed to give him a kiss on either check and he adorably goes into a giggling fit. This being so infectious we had a laughing spell as well in the process.
He is a precocious little boy, light brown hair and sea green eyes like his dad, his lighter hair color no doubt from his witch mother.
As much as I adore little Michael there is something to be said about someone just barging in
“I take it you forgot how a doorbell works Andrew?”
Akko doesn’t even bat an eye at us anymore and is too engrossed in playing patty cakes with Michael.
Although to be fair since Akko and Andrew ended up working so many years together in the liaison department they both had keys to each other’s house and long distance relationship for both Andrew and Akko with Blair and I bonded them more together.
Can’t say I’m not jealous by the time I couldn’t be there to keep Akko company, but we each have our own dreams and goals to work on, of course while supporting each other as well.
Also luckily we haven’t stayed apart ever since 1 year ago, hence why we decided to start a family.
“My apologies Diana. I did ring a few times, but since I got no answer I decided I would leave these fresh soursop and coconut water for Akko anyway since I though you guys might be asleep. Also Michael was being rather insistent on wanting to see both of you”
Akko looks up while continuing the patty cakes motion with Michael. She shoots Andrew a huge smile of gratitude and he nods in return.
She has been craving those particular food these past 3 weeks. Figures it would take something like pregnancy to make Akko have healthy and balanced eating habits.
I mean sure she instilled some nice eating habits into Akko and so did Andrew, Lotte and Ursula, bless them.
“Thank you this is very much appreciated” I direct towards Andrew with an amicable smile. All things considered Andrew and I have come a long way, in large part due to the lovely person I can amazingly enough call my wife.
“Think nothing of it. Blair also had a peculiar craving for exotic fruits so I frequented this particular fruit vendor. I had exchanged contact information back then, in case of any late night cravings or anything of that sort”
I offered Andrew to sit down on one of the other couches but he declined saying it’s already a bit passed Michael’s curfew and Blair will have his head.
So he proceeds to scoop Michael up while the boy protested, but you can see him starting to rub his eyes, trying to get the sleepiness out just so he can stay up a bit longer.
He gives us a wet cheek kiss each and a hug goodbye. Luckily Andrew doesn’t live far away from us so Blair shouldn’t be too angry.
Just as Andrew was about to leave the front door he turned around, Michael already dozing off in his arms.
“You know as much I was initially annoyed at both of you for the whole setting up scheme, I do have to say thank you for making this happen”
We smile, but Akko had a cheeky smile on. Goodness.
“No need to be so descriptive Andrew, that’s all you and Sarah. Also the kids’ right there, have some decency” Akko deadpans.
Andrew rolls his eyes. “Goodnight Atsuko, Diana” smirks as he closes the door behind him.
“It’s Akko. We’ve known each other for almost 15 years. You did that on purpose Hanbridge” Akko mutters, although I’m sure she would’ve said in high volume if a slumbering Michael wasn’t present.
“Let’s go to bed” I pass a soothing arm on her back. Akko leans into my touch.
“Mhmm…kay....Di…I love you”
I swear those words coming from her never gets old, if anything my heart swells even more every time I hear it now as impossible as that might seem.
“Love you too Akko”
So we head up to bed. Having Michael over I’m sure has made us looking even more forward to have a giggling child of our own. We already have laughter, crying and playing around here, with Akko its hard not to after all, but adding another member to our family sure feels lovely.
Best friends with the god of mischief
TITLE: Best friends with the god of mischief CHAPTER NO./ONE SHOT: Chapter 5 AUTHOR: foreverdrivinginpuddles123 / lokistories123 ORIGINAL IMAGINE: Imagine being friends with Loki. After a while you start having feelings for him, but you don’t tell him. One day Asgard’s enemies try to go after you and Loki takes you to Asgard. Loki and Thor defeat the enemies, but you and Loki decide it is better for you to stay in Asgard for a while. One day Loki comes back from a mission. He tells you he found out that he’s a frost giant and that he is most likely adopted. Loki can’t cope with this and he gets really angry. Whilst you try to calm him, he quickly yells that he’s in love with you. RATING: Teen NOTES/WARNINGS: May be a bit cut off, but I wanna get to the romantic parts okay?! I’m like Einstein: I have so many thoughts, but my hands are not quick enough to type everything down. I hope everything makes sense.
Word count: 2827
Chapter 5
When I woke up, I was in bed. I could hear Loki and Frigga talking, so I made the decision to pretend that I was still asleep.
“Why did you not consult with me before you would do this Loki? This is a very intense spell and it takes up a lot of energy from the both of you.”
“I kind of did it out of the blue. I thought it was the right moment. I wanted to do it earlier when we were still on Midgard, but I didn’t want to overwhelm her.”
“By the looks of her, it still overwhelmed her. You’ll need to train her, and I’ll help you with it. I trained you as well, so I should be able to give you a push in the right direction as well.”
“Thank you, mother. I am sorry, I should have first asked you for permission and aid with this decision. But something in me wanted to do it now, while I still can.”
“Yes you should’ve, but there is nothing we can do about it now. We should just hope for the best and hope that she’ll be able to keep everything down. And for you, no more unexpected behavior. If you’re father hears about this, he’ll kill you. Luckily for you I’ve already told him and calmed him down.”
“Yes mother, I promise. And for Odin, I know he wasn’t happy with me bringer her here. But he knew she and I were both in danger. And for this. Well… Let’s just hope he likes her attitude enough to not kill her.”
“He won’t. I like her very much and I meant what I said. She can stay as long as she wishes. Danger or not. Your father has nothing to say in that matter.” I could hear Frigga giggle and I knew I’ve heard enough.
“What happened?” I pretended that I had just woken up.
“Y/N! Thank the gods you’re awake. How are you feeling?”
“I’m feeling weird, what happened? You whispered something in my ear and after that I didn’t feel well. I still don’t.”
“Well, Y/N. I may have shared a bit of my magic with you.” I did not expect that. I thought he did some crazy athletic spell and that THAT would be my training. I wasn’t a skinny girl, so it would make some sense. I also told Loki that I always wanted to be a bad ass girl. So, it would all make sense, but no.
“YOU DID WHAT? How is this even possible? Am I going to die!? I am no god. Oh god, I’m gonna die, aren’t I?!”
“No Y/N, you’re not going to die. You’ll just…. Uhm….”
“Loki, let me explain it to her. Y/N because you now have magic, you’ll have to be trained. With this I mean you’ll learn spells and perform them as well. Because of this you’ll create more magic and you can do even more powerful spells. And so on.”
“But what happens if I can’t do them?”
“You will be able to do them my child. You have to great and powerful gods standing in front of you that know how this all works.”
That did soothe my mind a bit. I didn’t know what to say back, but I came up with a reply.
“Thank you, Frigga.”
She smiled at me “No problem, I’ll give you two some privacy.” She left.
“How do you even call yourselves?”
“We don’t know ourselves either. We just say that we can perform magic. But you can call it what you want. Warlock, wizard, magician, witch, and so on.” Loki still had a worried look on his face.
“I’ll go with witch than.” I smiled and gave him a little punch on his shoulder.”
“I am truly sorry Y/N, I just had to do it. I wanted to find a way of how you could protect yourself if no-one else is around. The library was the perfect place and I could tell you were feeling very comfortable there.”
“It’s okay. It’s good of you that you want me to be able to protect myself, but let’s be honest, I could die if I were to trip in one of THOSE shoes.” I pointed at the closet and we both laughed.
“And Loki, it’s pretty cool this whole magic thing. I haven’t seen you do anything Obviously back home and here either. So, if it is as cool as I’m imagining I’m just okay with it.”
 I really was okay with it. It would have been nice of Loki to tell me what he was up to, but as I knew him, he wasn’t the most open person when it came to talking. He would hold everything up, and then burst one day. Like me actually.
Amelia arrived with a tray of breakfast.
“Was I gone that long?!”
“Yes, you slept all day and all night.”
Amelia dropped of the tray at the table, took a bow and left.
“She really isn’t so fond of me, now is she?”
“She, and all other people on this forsaken planet, are used to certain things, and when those things are changed by someone… well… Let’s just say they aren’t overly fond of that idea.”
“Hmmm. I’m glad your siblings liked me. But to address the elephant in the room, your brother Baldr is a complete asshole. Sorry.”
“No need to be sorry. The whole family agrees. He just went to being this person from one day to the other. He can be quite dangerous if he doesn’t get what he wants, so I’d stay away from him if I where you.”
“It wasn’t very polite of him to just try to claim me like that.”
“You are completely right but look at it this way. Most women here are not royalty like us, so if they get Baldr’s interest, they might climb up the ladder. He usually ditches them the day after. Some he keeps for a few months, or even years. But after that they just get thrown away like old puppets. Somehow everyone still falls for him, but that’s the real reason why he gets woman so easily. And he will keep up his act, until he ‘finds the one.’”
“And the same is of course for you and Thor.”
“Well yeah I guess. But Thor has his eyes on Sif.”
“And you? Anyone I should meet?” I winked at him. I liked him, but I knew that there were plenty of more beautiful woman here. And Loki was good looking, so there must’ve been someone, right?
“Not at the moment, the last “spark” I had was centuries ago, and she was a bitch. Like I said most woman just want us for our status and not for us. One of the many downsides of being royal.”
“I’m sorry to hear that, you’ll find someone.” I also thought of myself. How I would never find anyone that would like me the way I am. Loki had the looks and the charm, so he would figure it out. But I’d be alone for the rest of my life.
“You too Y/N.”
We seated ourselves at the table and ate everything.
Loki told me more about Baldr, mostly so I knew how he was, to protect myself from him as well. He had little birds everywhere and knew everything that would be happening inside the castle. He was really the villain like in those medieval movies. I had nothing to worry about because he was pointed out for his behavior. Even Odin had a word with him.
“He doesn’t like you that much. But no-one will offend his guests.” Loki told me. Thank god!
After we finished eating we went to Loki’s chamber. I still got to get a hang of these terms. Chamber/room, Midgard/earth. Loki magically poofed up a book in his hands. It looked really cool and I was looking at him with big open eyes.
“Like what you see?” His chuckled.
“Yes. And that trick with the book was also pretty cool.” It looked like Loki choked there for a second.
“Ha ha. Very funny Y/N. This is the first spell book that Frigga handed me when she shared her magic with me. We shall begin with these spells.” Loki opened the book and pointed at one of the first pages. But all I could see were runes, and it would take me a while to translate those.
“Uhm, can you give me an hour? I have your sheet right here and I will need some time to translate.”
“Oh, yeah I forgot, here.” He touched my head and all of the sudden the spells were written in plain English.
“Hallelujah, can you please teach me that one first?” I had to morph away the big grin on my face.
“No, we are not, this is a more skilled spell. The first one will be you trying to call up a small object. Like I just did with the book.”
We were busy all day but at the end of the evening I could already call up small objects.
“I now know how Harry Potter feels.” I said it a bit too loud but we both kept laughing until we heard a knock on the door.
“Loki, are you in there.” I could tell from the low voice it was Thor.
“Yes brother, come in.”
“Are you decent?” Loki and I looked at each other.
“No, we’re actually both naked on the floor. YES WE ARE DECENT!” I loved his sarcasm, and if it weren’t for him being here, I would’ve said the same thing.
Thor walked in with a very unamused look on his face. I could tell Loki did this to him all the time.
“You’re late for training, and I am not spending another day with Baldr. He can’t even throw a blade himself, “he has other people that do that for him.” Thor said it in a little boy’s voice, pointing at the fact that his other brother was rather a coward.
“I’m sorry, I was actually training Y/N myself. Come little one, show him.” I was ab it shocked he wanted me to show Thor what I learned today, but I felt very comfortable with Thor as well. I showed him the trick and Thor was eyeing me the whole time.
“Wow lady Y/N that is magnificent. I assumed Loki would share his magic with you. I didn’t know it would be this fast, but good for the two of you.”
“Y/N, why don’t you come with us. I’d hate to leave you here all alone and me and Thor really have to train, or Odin will kick our asses.” Loki meant it. It was also his way of showing Asgard without being too much of a guide.
“Sure, I’d love to.”
We went to this big open field behind the palace. It really looked like those training ground you would see in Spartacus, but here there were no slaves. Just Asgardian warriors. Right next to the training grounds were the Asgardian Gardens. Loki told me that at day there were open for everyone, but at night only for the King and his family. It looked beautiful and I definitely wanted to see them before I would go home.
I seated myself at the balcony where you could watch the men and women train. Well there was only one woman, and I assumed it was Sif. She looked up at me and I smiled and waved at her Like the fangirl I was. She laughed and waved back.
I watched Thor and Loki train. God, Loki looked very hot when he was so focused. All the panties out the window I thought to myself. After a while Odin walked up to the edge of the balcony. Immediately everyone stopped and bowed to Odin.
“I have bad news. The dark elves that were after my sons, were spotted in Jotünheim trying to team up with the Jotüns to attack Asgard. I require my best soldiers and my two sons Thor and Loki to go there and stop them for good.”
Okay great, so I would be left alone here while I just got here 3 days ago. Like I wasn’t going to get raped and killed or something.
Immediately Sif and 3 other men walked up to Thor and armed themselves. Loki ran away and a minute after that he was standing right behind me.
“Y/N, I’m so sorry. I didn’t know they would be spotted this soon!”
“It’s okay Loki. I’ll stay here and wait until you come back, I hope.”
“Pfff, of course I will. You’re talking to me of all people. I’ll make sure you’ll spend as much of your time with Frigga, and she’ll help you train. I’ll be very curious as to what you’ve learned when I return.”
He gave me a hug and a kiss on my cheek. I could feel my cheeks burn right after. The last I saw of Loki was him jumping on a horse. Ehehe Horse Like Norse mythology. No?
Anyway, I saw him riding of in the sunset to go to the Bifröst.
The beam that came from the Bifröst an hour later looked very beautiful, it was like a diamond with all colors of the rainbow.
The next day I started practicing with Frigga and I would follow her all day as also she was worried what would happen if I were to walk here alone. She was the kindest person I ever met. Always so sophisticated and perfect. She would tell me embarrassing stories about Thor and Loki as well, and I swore I would tell no-one.
“If Loki comes back, I’ll bully him with this.” We laughed. She was truly caring for me. She told me she saw me as the daughter she never had. Hela was very on her own and grew up way too fast according to Frigga, so it was nice for her to have someone to look after.
Frigga allowed me to contact my parents so that they weren’t to worry.
I told them the whole story and that I didn’t know when I would be back.
At first, they thought I was kidnapped, then they thought I was crazy but after I showed them my first-learned trick, they believed me.
“Honey, please be careful.”
“I will mom, no worries. Can you please also tell college what happened? NOT the real story but that someone was in trouble and I had to go there?”
“Sure thing, and me and Loki have somethings to discuss…” My mother sounded angry at him. It looked like she was angry at him for not telling me the whole story the first time we’ve met so that I would be ready for any threats, and not how things went now.
“Mom, calm down. It isn’t his fault.”
“He better be the kind Tom Hiddleston to you, or I’ll kill him myself.”
“He is, mom. I’ll call you when I have more info than I have now.”
“You better. I love you Y/N. Take care of yourself.”
“I will. Love you too mom. Bye.”
I was a bit hurt, but I understood my mother’s anger. I just left and didn’t contact her for 4 days.
“You have a wonderful mother Y/N.”
“She just threatened to kill Loki, your son.”
“Only to protect you, which makes her a great mother Y/N.”
“Yeah, that’s true.”
“Now let’s continue with our practices. Have you read the spell on how to lift objects?”
“Yes madam, I did.”
And we continued practicing.
Weeks and months flew by. I was getting really good at my magic skills and I started to hang out with Hela a lot. She was darker than Loki, as in her thoughts. But she was very kind to me. She told me she saw herself in me somehow and that she already saw me as her sister.
When I was in Asgard for exactly 4 months, the Bifröst was active again.
“Well, I guess my little brothers are back.” She said it like it was the most regular thing ever.
I quickly ran to the entrance of the castle. I saw Sif enter and she gave me a quick smile. There were 3 men walking behind her, and from my Fan experience they were the warriors 3? Anyway. After that Thor entered, but no Loki. But as the last “warrior” entered, Loki arrived after him. Loki looked hurt and mad. I’ve never seen him like this.
I walked up to him, but Loki quickly avoided me and went straight to his chambers.
I wanted to enter as well, but the doors were locked. So naturally I knocked on the doors.
“LOKI! Let me in. What’s going on? Is everything okay?”
“JUST LEAVE ME ALONE Y/N!”
What was going on?!
Was he hurt? What happened there?!
Drama Intensifies
Part 7
Meanwhile, Haruka does a ritual to get back to her birthland, summoning the Crystal God specifically. By summoning God Gabrant they can go to Haruka's birthland which is Castle Deist.
God Gabrant: What have you summoned me for, princess?
Haruka: I need to go to return to my birthland soon, my current location will have a war soon and I might need help from everyone there.
God Gabrant: I see, and who's this [eyes Simeon]
Simeon: ... I-
Haruka: He's one of the angels here but he wants to accompany me in case something happens. I'll just disguise him as a friend of mine.
God Gabrant: I see...that makes sense. I'll start the portal soon and you'll be there without you know it!
Haruka instantly holds Simeon's hand so he won't get lost and enters the crystal-like portal. Around 20 minutes, they finally landed in Castle of Deist because there's a lot of other portals and it's a really long journey.
Simeon: Whoa! There are lots of realms here!
Haruka: It is, but we're landing there!
The two finally land on an empty land with grass. Simeon is of course confused because it's a new realm for him.
Haruka: Lead the way, Gabran!
Gabrant finally leads them to the castle, they have to go through every obstacle there is. Examples, the scorching hot sun, a long way full of long grass, hills and mountains, and many other things like monsters. :) Haha rip.
Simeon: W-wait are we even in the right place? Are you sure this is your birthland?
Haruka: Yeah, we can trust Gabrant! Oh by the way Gabrant, can I ask you a favor?
God Gabrant: Of course! What do you need?
Haruka: Can you please change Simeon's appearance so he can adjust to this place?
God Gabrant: Hmmm I can disguise him as a white mage.
With that, Simeon transforms into a white mage, a grey outfit, and a staff to complete the look.
Simeon: Oh, this is a new look!
Haruka: Well, you have to be disguised so you won't be suspected, people here are quite cautious with intruders...
Simeon: True.
God Gabrant: Well I have to go soon if you have any help just call me.
Haruka: Okay!
Just like that, Gabrant disappears while Haruka and Simeon continue on their journey back to their destination. As they were walking, Simeon starts asking Haruka about her weaponry since they're in a very dangerous place.
Simeon: Hey, Haruka, where's your weapon? Magic by chance?
Haruka: Oh well, I can summon my weapon automatically when there are monsters around!
Simeon: Ah, alright then^^
Speak of the devil, monsters just appear out of nowhere, probably to attack them since they are intruders, also because Haruka is a royal. So a battle has started between them. Haruka's weapon instantly comes out which is a sword made out of gold, luckily it was powerful enough to defeat those monsters. Simeon is still adjusting to his disguise, so yeah, good luck Simeon.
Simeon: Wait what do I do?! What do I do with this staff?!
Haruka: I- Okay- [teaches him while still fighting the monsters]
Simeon: Ooooh verbal magic! That's cool!
After a few trials, Simeon can finally use the staff properly and somehow can combine elements, he just found out, he has no idea how it happened.
Simeon: o-o how did that happen-
Haruka: Whatever that is, it's working!
Monster: [growls in anger and attacks them again]
Simeon: Oh no-;-; [trying to defend them from the monsters]
Haruka: Use the magnet magic! Magnega!!
Simeon: O-Okay! [doing exactly that]
As soon as Simeon uses that magic, the monster Simeon is dealing with got sucked in and disappear in just seconds. After that, the two of them went on with their journey. Because it's so long, Haruka ends up calling a creature named Chocobo, a horse-sized chicken that can take them on long journeys. Simeon of course is shocked by the size of the Chocobo.
Simeon: o.o that's a large chicken!
Haruka: Well yeah^^ We can also use them in battle!
Simeon: Really? :o
Haruka: Yeah, come on! Get on!
Simeon: O-okay- [gets on the Chocobo and well the Chocobo panics because it doesn't know who Simeon is-]
Simeon: W-why is it panicking?! What do I do?!
Haruka: Chocobo, stay calm! It's fine! He's just a friend of mine, he's with me!
Chocobo: [confused chicken noises]
Simeon: Yeah....I'm her- DONT DROP ME!!
Haruka: [facepalms]
After more calming down the chicken and Simeon finally getting on them successfully, the two finally arrive at the castle's gate. It was a beautiful castle with a big wall surrounding it and a bridge to reach the entrance.
Haruka: DAAAAAD I'M HOOOOOMMMEEEE!!!
Simeon: ....
Guard 1 : [looks at the noise] Your Highness! You're home!
Guard 2: ....who is this? [looks at Simeon in suspicion]
Simeon: .... [gives them a polite nod]
Haruka: He's a friend of mine, I met him on one of my journeys!
Guard 1: I see, I'll inform the King and Queen! OPEN THE GATES!!!
Guard 2 : [opening the gates]
The two finally enter the castle to meet the King and Queen with Guard 1 as their guide. As they go to the castle, the people around them suddenly surround Haruka despite the guards telling them not to.
Guard 1: Your highness, you shouldn't-
Haruka: Are you new?! I'm usually allowed to meet my people!
Child: Your highness! I miss you a lot! [crying out of happiness] Here's a welcome back gift from me! [shows a freshly picked flower]
Haruka: Aww thank you! That's so sweet of you! [accepts the flower] here's one for you, Simeon^^ [gives one to him]
Simeon: Thank you^^
Woman: Ooh! That's a really handsome companion you have! Who is he? How did you meet him? Is there something going on between you two?
Guard 3 : [comes out of the castle to stop them] She'll be answering those questions soon^^ For now they have to meet the King and Queen.
Finally, the two of them enter the castle, the Chocobos are now put in their cage by the guards, and Haruka with Simeon enters the throne room to meet the King and Queen. Of course, Simeon gives a bow to the King and Queen because of politeness meanwhile Haruka is just standing there.
Haruka: Sup, Dad.
Assistant: [looks up in shock]
Haruka: I mean, greetings father^^ [does a courtesy]
King: Where did you go?! Who taught you such a lowly language?!
Haruka: [laughs nervously] hehe...
Queen: It's fine, my love. It's not a big deal. Welcome home, sweetheart.
Haruka: Mother^^
Haruka: Oh by the way... I need to meet some of our finest knights around so a strategy discussion.
King: .... So sudden? What happened?
Haruka: There's an attack in my friends' land and I want to help them.
King: A friend.... is this one of them? [eyes Simeon]. Young man, please introduce yourself!
Simeon: O-of course, your majesty! My name's Simeon and I'm from the celestial realm, I met her on one of her journeys to the Celestial realm.
King: I see.... so this "celestial realm" is under an attack?
Simeon: It is, your majesty. There will be an attack against all three realms, the celestial realm, devildom, and earth.
King: Oh? A country with three cities. Interesting...
As the King and Simeon are discussing what's happening, Haruka decides to go to the meeting room to call all her friends who are knights and discussing about the problem she's facing.
King: Alright, you may go. I'm sure to provide as much help as possible.
Simeon: Thank you so much, your majesty. [bows down and goes to the meeting room]
As soon as Simeon enters the meeting room he's shocked by the sudden appearance of the meeting room, but lowkey impressed.
Warrior of Light: Greetings. ^^
Simeon: o-o
Haruka: Simeon, are you okay?
Simeon: .... who are they and how did they get here?
Haruka: They're my friends and I use hologram magic so we can talk.
Simeon: I see... [pokes the hologram out of curiosity]
Cloud: ... Wtf- [dodges it]
Simeon: Aaa I'm sorry;-; I don't mean to do that-
Haruka: ....Simeon, there's an empty chair. You can sit there.
Simeon: Oh, right! [sits on that empty chair]
So the discussion begins and they all finally agree to help her and Simeon against this battle. But because of Gabrant's disappearance and won't be appearing for a while, they need to stay there for a while.
Zidane: By the way, how did you meet this guy? [points at Simeon]
Haruka: It's a long story^^
Zidane: Oh come on! Tell us!
Bartz: Yeah, come on! Tell us!
Haruka: [sigh] Oh alright...
Haruka ends up telling them about how she meet Simeon while Simeon is a blushing mess because Haruka even tells them about the engagement.
Noctis: An engagement I see, interesting^^
Haruka: Yeah, he even proposed to me by a fountain! It's so romantic!!
Onion Knight: Cloud, you okay?
Cloud: [wents offline lmao]
Noctis: A sulky one as always^^
Zidane: This tea is hot though, go on, Crystalia!
Tina: [sips tea] It seems to me that he's jealous^^
Cloud: [wents back online] I'm not! Shut it!
Tina: Really? Prove it :))
Warrior of Light: [sigh in I'm too old for this]
Onion Knight: Anyways, just continue! What else?!
Haruka: There's also a kid in his house, his name is Luke I believe...
Cloud: You're engaged to a widower?!
Noctis: :(( Hey! Don't judge them!
Simeon: What do you mean by that?
Cloud: I mean, you have a kid and you're single :))
Simeon: I am certain that I haven't been married yet!
Cloud: An adopted child, unfertile perhaps?
Simeon, internally: Lord give me strength-
Shantoto: [facepalms] youngsters these days [shakes her head]
Warrior of Light: If you two gonna fight, I suggest doing it outside or maybe later when we actually meet- ^^ [angry smile]
Yuna: But sir, we're holograms-
Cloud: Well I'm certainly going to that castle right now-
Haruka: Wait, wait, wait! No! Why don't you just focus all that anger on our battle? Isn't that a good idea?
Cloud:...
Cecil: Hey that's actually a good idea!
Yshtola: Or you two can just settle this in the most civil way so we can actually work together!
Vahn and Noctis: [eats snacks in the background as they watch Simeon and Cloud keeps on arguing]
Warrior of Light: ....please eat properly. You are a noble kind!
Noctis: [casually eats near the mic]
Vahn: [ends up laughing because it's funny]
Shantoto: [sigh] Youngsters these days! Your highness, are you sure we want to invite these kids to our battle?
Haruka: Luke is also in battle I believe, so it's alright, Ma'am^^
Shantoto: [cringes because this is not how noble people usually act]
Warrior of Light: Well since we're done with the discussion. I suggest ending this meeting right now, Princess Elevia. [said this in annoyance]
As soon as he said that, the room went silent, even Cloud and the teen nobles. But suddenly they hear a tea slurping.
Tina: What? I'm thirsty and this mic is literally in front of me!
Haruka: Alright then^^ that's all for today. See you guys in the next meeting!
Just like that, everyone goes offline and this leaves Simeon and Haruka in that room. Simeon of course is still a little agitated with how Cloud treats him.
Haruka: Hey Simeon, wanna go on a tour?
Simeon: Sure^^
