I love Raph and haven’t said that enough so to be more specific I love that Raph is a soft boy who loves bear plushies, a gross boy who eats an assortment of things that are definitely better left alone, a smart boy who is more than capable of taking down villains through planning and fortitude alike, a strong boy who is dedicated to training his muscles and fighting prowess, a teenage boy who loves his brothers but is more than happy to tease and roughhouse with them, an angry boy who sometimes lets his anger take a hold of him to cover the fear, a gentle boy who is generous with hugs and affirmations to those he loves, a capable boy who takes on more than should ever be expected of a teenager, a good boy who just wants to be a hero and slowly comes to realize the cost of that duty, a good boy who has no reservations about putting himself in the way of harm coming to his family, a good boy who’s a great brother and son and person and deserves only the best the world has to offer.

Kay with the random AU posting (again)

That episode where Raph, Mikey, and Leo become smarter than Don due to hijinks except it’s a whole AU where they were born smarter, with a reverse on ninpo and tech use

Raph, due to being the eldest and strongest, follows Splints into mechanics. Leo adores space (Jupiter Jim) and studies to become an astronaut. Mikey is.. well he’s pretty smart emotionally already so there’s not much difference besides knowing more psychological terms lmao.

Don on the other hand is.. unlucky so to speak. Still a prodigy, but has to work a loooot harder than his brothers. Having lost his passion in tech due to a severe inferiority complex, he’s the only one to pickup a ninpo weapon and explore the world of magic in a hands-on lens. Still loves tech and studies theory, just doesn’t have the motivation.

TSAU Season 1 Finale - Part 1

It's about damn time I go over the TSAU's version of the remaining season 1 finale, as well as episode 1 of season 2, so HERE WE ARE! I am too lazy to adapt the entire thing into a proper comic, especially considering several plot points remain rather unchanged from canon, so we're doing whatever this format is instead.

(You should read Cell Talk and Gearing Up before this if you haven't already)

But a quick recap, the Gearing Up comic ended with Draxum in the Dark Armour going up to the surface with Mikey to start with the whole conquering humanity thing. Raph and Leo have offically joined Team Good Guys and they, alongside Donnie, Splinter, April, Shelldon and Mayhem went after Draxum to stop his evil plans.

When they make surface, Draxum and Mikey have already started their rampage and are just kinda wrecking the baseball stadium. The Foot are also at the stadium, clearly still expecting The Shredder to show up or something. Team Good Guys (yes that's their name now) figure it's probably good to try to get whatever info about the Dark Armour they can so April and Mayhem teleport to where The Foot are to try to gather some intel that might help them in the fight against Draxum.

Meanwhile, the others start fighting Draxum and Mikey. Draxum is low-key kinda baffled that Raph just straight up switched teams lmao. Leo is one thing, but Raph has always been so loyal and responsible so it's real suprising that he's completely disobeying orders. None of the Draxum family members are really enthusiastic about fighting each other (except maybe Mikey he's kinda pissed at this point) but they engage in battle anyway. Donnie, Shelldon and Splinter are less hesitant about kicking Draxum's ass and don't really hold their punches lmao. Despite that they're kinda struggling considering both Drax and Mikey are so strong, but that's when April and Mayhem teleport back with that useful intel!

What April learned from her intel-gathering is that The Foot think there is some kind of flaw with the armour, like in canon, you know the deal. What differs from canon is exactly how that flaw occured. Turns out that Donnie when he was younger got a little bit carried away with giving Shelldon cool powerful weapons and Shelldon enced up accidentally shooting up the teapot to smithereens, oopsie! Donnie managed to reassembe it before Splinter saw, but with one of the pieces having gone missing he had to sacrifice his Atomic Lass figurine to plug up the final hole (he's still upset about that to this day btw). BUT POINT IS, like in canon this means that the armour has a obvious weakpoint and if they hit that it might be enough to knock Draxum out of the armour!

You know what happens next, they resume the fighting with this new strategy in mind and eventually they manage to get a lucky hit in and as predicted knocking out the Atomic Lass toy causes Draxum to get knocked out as well. Except YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS and you know it's not quite that easy. Lo and behold, the Atomic Lass figurine was the last thing keeping The Shredder from being resurrected, so now that it's gone? Yeah, the Dark Armour is finally completed, it slurps Draxum's life-force or whatever and then spits him out.

The Shredder is back.

... Except not entirely of course, like in canon he's acting like a wild animal attacking anything that moves, but regardless it's still a new threat they have to deal with. With Draxum being so hurt, Leo makes the decision to portal him back home, and to also send Mikey with him. Both because Draxum probably needs someone to look after him and also Leo doesn't really wanna deal with Mikey's attitude at the moment with everything else going on lmao.

From here on out the battle against Shredder begins. This too goes mostly the same way as in canon, Shredder kinda kicks all of their asses before suddenly teleporting away, and then that song and dance repeats a couple of times before Team Good Guys figure they need a better strategy. Splinter brings up how Big Mama would probably have a way to subdue Shredder, only problem is that it's BIG MAMA and he does NOT wanna go anywhere close to her. In canon Leo brought Splinter with him to BM anyway, but in the AU he kinda respects Splinter, or rather Lou Jitsu, too much to force him to come along. Instead Leo decides he and Raph will go to BM for help, while the others keep Shredder from completely wrecking New York.

-but instead of rubbing your arms on a surface to get rid of the feel like you do if even April were to accidentally brush against your hand, you don't do that at all

-you just shrug and go about your business and boys are like ??? can touch ???

-Donnie's the one who makes studious observations from afar and comes to the conclusion that their pebbled/scaled skin is a sort of sensory comfort to you

-he's the one to actually test his theory, letting his hands linger for a moment when you pass him a tool and watching to see if you wipe your hand or not

-once he's absolutely sure he's right in his hypothesis that you do in fact find comfort in physical contact with him and his brothers, he gives them the news, but not after relishing in your contact for a bit longer first

-this news obv makes Mikey so excited, and his brothers have to remind him to take it slow to still not scare you

-doesn't take long for Mikey to make it onto your exception list

-bro will literally hug you any chance he gets, and when you start to hug back

-oh, he's died and gone to heaven!

-Leo's a bit more cautious about it, still apprehensive about pushing any boundaries

-even when you reassure him its okay for him to touch you, he still always ask first and even apologizes if he does so by accident

-absolutely revels in the feeling of you running your hands over his skin

-Leo's def not touch starved or anything

-at least not as much as Raphael

-speaking of which; Raph lets you touch him but acts like a bit of jerk at first, pretending that he doesn't care but really he's floating on cloud nine

-you? of all people, want to touch him?!

-the first time you ask to see what his face feels like, he's very hesitant but eventually agrees

-and boy, is he glad he did because the second your soft hands cradled his cheeks and your little thumbs caress the rough skin, he about damn near melts like a puddle in your palms

they love swimming, except for april. she will just chill in the corner somewhere in the pool.. shes scared of going too deep into the water. she must touch the floor at all times!! she cant swim 🦭 the guys will attack casey if he dare tries to throw april in the pool

and the turtles always want to play some sort of game in the pool but not donnie. he doesn’t like all of the splashing tht happens during tht stuff. he will most likely be in the corner with april and chill with her while mike & raph try to drown each other in the pool.

casey & leo will probably do dumb challenges like who can swim fastest or who can hold their breath the longest underwater.. leo will win that challenge every time.

All the ROTTMNT brothers are self-sacrificial idiots

So I hear a lot of people talk about Leo’s self-sacrifice in the movie. Which makes sense because it was essentially supposed to be the gut-wrenching scene at the end of the movie.

But I think it is important to highlight that all the brothers are all self-sacrificial, just in different ways. I am going to list all the times I think that they have sacrificed themselves in the movie and how they do it in different ways.

Side Note: I will elaborate the self-sacrifice dynamics of the series overall, in depth in another post, but this one is going to mainly focus on the movie.

Raph

The first obvious one is Raph. He literally jumped in front of Leo to save Leo and prevent him from being killed by the Krang spear like thing. It literally put a crack in Raph’s shell.

Based on how fast Raph moved immediately in front of Leo, I think his self-sacrifice was based on instincts.   

Important side note: I consider this and Leo’s sacrifice scene more of a “role reversal” that happens in movies. Mainly because Raph jumped in front of Leo to save his life. So, Leo is doing the same thing Raph did for him at the beginning of the movie, except for the whole world this time.

Another important side note: Raph has jumped in front of someone to save their life before by using his whole body. The example the one I am referring to is in Battle Nexus: New York, where Raph jumps in front of Donnie to protect him from the Shredder.

Donnie

In a similar way to how Raph saved Leo by jumping in front of him, Donnie did a similar thing with Mikey twice. First was when Mikey was trying to make a portal when they were in front of the Krang but a portal did not appear. So Donnie tried to cover Mikey to prevent him from getting hurt by the Krang. This caused his battle shell to break. So the Krang creature that hit Donnie’s battle shell was really close to him.

I think about how if the spear Krang thing came even closer to Donnie’s normal shell, it could have pierced it. I am kind of surprised I don’t see as much, or any, angst related fics about this scene. 

Secondly, in the scene where Donnie and Mikey were standing in the air on a building, Donnie tried to protect Mikey from the Krang by stepping in front of him and trying to make a construction with his ninpo. But it did not form in time, and Donnie was hit straight in the face by the Krang. It seemed like he passed out.

In these two scenes, Donnie self-sacrificial behavior seemed to be based on instincts because of how fast he was in front of Mikey both times.

Side note: For the second scene with Donnie, I don’t know if Donnie had a particular construct in mind he wanted to build because it did not fully show up.

But I have headcanon’s that how fast he builds mystic tech really depends on how memorized the thing is in his head. And he essentially has blueprints along with him to create a physical and mystic version of his tech.

Next with Donnie, there is the Technodrome scene. First, it is shown in the movie that Donnie tried to just submerge himself with the Technodrome by using his arms, which he has a sensory issue reaction to.

After that, he let his whole body be submerged in the Technodrome without his battle shell.

Important: It seemed like neither one of them knew whether Donnie would have survived in the Technodrome. To elaborate, after Donnie was in the Technodrome, Mikey just said “Donnie?” like he didn’t know whether Donnie was alive or not.

This type of sacrifice seems to be more like Donnie was just guessing what to do and hoped it worked. But he had a little bit of time to think of it, and he still decided to go in the Technodrome.

Mikey

With Mikey, the most self-sacrificial scene I can think of is him opening up the portal at the end of the movie. I say this because he was starting to be literally torn apart with his mystic powers to make the portal, even though he did not know it could do that to him. To be honest, I think his sacrifice scene was a mix of his desperation and instincts based on his emotions. He didn’t know if the portal would actually work, but he still tried anyway.

Donnie and Raph Joining Mikey

In the next scene, Donnie and Raph joined Mikey when they started to see the cracks in Mikey’s arms. In the scene, they all got hurt, it seems, from the portal. All three of them, once joined, had glowing cracks coming from their arms. The arms that were cracking were Donnie’s right arm, both Mikey’s arms, and Raph’s left arm.

I would consider this behavior more based on instincts because of how fast Donnie and Raph joined Mikey soon after he was starting to make the portal, and his arms were starting to crack.

Leo

For Leo, I think it is a little bit different compared to the rest for how he self-sacrificed himself. Mainly, because in the movie, his self-sacrificial behavior is more calculated. Mainly shown by him saying “I missed on purpose” and “close the portal, Casey.”

This shows he already had it semi-calculated in his head.

Conclusion

They are all self-sacrificial idiots. But they all think about/do it in different ways in the movie.

For instance, Raph does his self-sacrificial behavior more on instant rather than a fully thought through plan. I mainly attribute this to him being the older brother.

For Donnie, he tries to prevent bad events from happening by creating things like the Donnie pods. But he will jump in front of people he cares about if he really needs to, which is based on instincts. This shows some kind of parallel between Donnie and Raph. But he also self-sacrifices more calculated sometimes, such as with the Technodrome. He does need time in between to figure something out compared to Leo.

For Mikey, when he does self-sacrificial behavior, it mainly comes from emotional distress, and more specifically instincts.

I think people mainly focus on Leo’s sacrifice is because it is more planned out compared to the other’s and is more “showy.”

But the bottom line is that they are all self-sacrificial idiots. But it just comes out in different ways.

Also, I want to see more fics revolving around these moments, and I am working on fics for some of them. Especially the parallel shell scene with Donnie and Raph.

Side Note: I like the headcanon that Donnie is younger than Leo.

I'm looking through some older parts of the comic (definitely for no particular reason...) and seeing this in light of some of the more recent updates gave me Feelings.

Like oh. Oh.

He really had it all planned out. Die, become a spirit, get a robot body, beat the Krang, help the world recover, and give himself and Raph new organic bodies after - how simple, how Tello, to tie it up with a nice little bow and make it all work out in the end. A plan he already had all thought out that he just didn't tell them about yet, you know?

And then, of all the things, his spirit failed him. He wasn't strong enough. It was right there. It should've been fine, it should've worked. He had it all planned out.

No wonder he feels like he failed - he accounted for everything except the idea of his spirit falling to pieces, of him not being strong enough to hold it together and get to the robot.

The ultimate unpredictable factor, the only possible flaw in the plan, ended up being him.

He failed. Not his tech, or the plan itself, but him.

And he's been trying to make up for it ever since.

I was wondering about your wrong parent AU, how would this change how the boys grow up, like with more of a motherly presence than their rat dad (though maybe she is just as a “sensei” as splinter…who knows XD) or is this like a time travel situation? It'd be a lot different! I guess I can list a few I thought of,,,

So, Rat!Mom.

She’s still a bit paranoid (how can you not be with the Shredder actively trying to find out what happened to you, where you are, and if you're actually dead), but shes more focused on trying to give her kids as normal of a life as she can and definitely not hiding all her stress underneath endless piles of work.

Mikey plays alot of games and is more adept at cooking, Raph's painting more often and always trying to help his mom with cleaning(yes, hes a mama's boy), Donnie is creating and creating and always wanting to go bigger, and Leo and Karai(yes, Karai :]) play fight alot(so many wars...) when they aren’t watching Space Heroes 24/7 or trying to explore outside the home.

Then, maybe during one of her dumpster dives, she finds some convenient "Chris Bradford" training tapes that they start to gain an interest in ninjutsu. She's not too pleased with it, but since they enjoy it, she tries to be more open to it(she conflicted)

They do go out and about earlier than Canon(with a curfew), meet April earlier too(her and her dad are a little different), and Karai and April become BFFS. (Unless...)

The kids still call her sensei or variations of mom, which ones? Probably all depending on what they did.

Now, fighting bad guys? She did not raise them for that /hj

In reality, when she sees her kids scratched up from fights topside, they are usually pretty quick to inform her what happened(except for two). They get carefully patched up, and scolded before being told to rest for a while(grounded). Which is definitely not so she can keep an eye on them.

And she is certainly not stressed whatsoever👍

As in Traps galore, I mean imagine it-

You're Chris Bradford, greatest actor (and martial artist ig) of all time, and your chasing what you presume to be your bosses stubborn former lover,(who you kind of hate ngl) and then you think you have her cornered, just for the ground to cave in beneath you cause whoops, she boobytrapped the whole place.

She can still be emotionally intelligent too, but the traps are staying.

Other than the traps, I do think Rat! Shen will have some other types of self-defense training during the time she was in hiding. Girl is not risking shit.

When it comes to VS. Shredder bits, she'd definitely use everything she can to her advantage, especially her rat abilities. Climbing, gnawing, scratching, hissing; just get the fuck away from her and her kids.

There’s no planned ships atm (other than Shen x Yoshi, but that's the point- hes ded anyway)

Lastly, Im thinking of probably at least three separate versions or “alternate timelines” for the WP au, or two divergents of the wp au canon lol. One where the original turts find Shen and her turts pre-adventure, one post-adventure and/or during the shredder kidnap arc(i will not elaborate) and the least timefuckery timeline where Rat mom and her babies gotta march on without future “assistance” 🤷 im sure they’ll be fine(they willllll)

So, I did kinda sketch ref for my Kraang character and make her more of a person, or something, with a name and all. I'm still going to use they/them pronounce and Y/N when people will be asking something about Krangified AU.

So, her name is Ana now.

About her personality before she was turned into the Kraang zombie I still can't say much at the moment (because I'm mostly focused on their interactions in the present timeline), except for her being the person who was genuinely worried about Leo and what's been going on in his head. She saw his attitude and for her it was obvious it was mostly a facade to hide his real emotions and wanted to help him, being a shoulder to lean on. I see her being the weirdo to others that found his jokes actually funny.

After Kraangification, I can describe her with one word: DEPRESSION. I mean, you've been a mindless zombie for about 10 years that practically flashed before your eyes. You wake up facing the facts that the world has been at war with the Kraang for all this time, everyone you knew grew up, your family is long gone, your boyfriend been through hell and lost his arm, and, yeah, your still kinda a zombie also facing some self-control issues. Your Kraang half is taking control over you from time to time, attacking others and even friends if provoked. Not to mention that a lot of things that used to be casual to you are now something you need to learn to be used to again, like bed or actual food. Yeah and also that little inconvenience that she has to eat people now.

She's been dozing off a lot at first, after Leo got her to their base, just staring at one point, processing the whole situation and still feeling like it's just a very long nightmare. And only Leo could snap her out of this state at least for a short amount of time.

When I've been making first sketches with her I gave her this pointed ear and horn like Kraang appendage on her forehead, and thought this kinda reminded of oni's (demons) from Japanese folklore, which kinda resonated with this whole Kraang AU concept.

I also can't stop thinking about Beauty and the Beast (original Disney animated movie) concept, only with them swapping roles in contrast to the original story.

I really like the concept of the turtles being able to make this chirping and churring sounds, and thought, why can't she make something like this? So, yeah, she can churp and purr (I don't know if there's a difference between churring and purring, still didn't understand, and this churring sound is still mostly fictional, fanon thing..? but, anyway). I like this idea of Leo and Ana being able to communicate with the language only they (and other turtles) understand.

A few more sketches with her and a couple of scenes.

Her claws on the Kraang arm can extend. I thought about her being able to shapeshift her arm further, but for now it's either extended claws, or something like a sword or some other sharp pointy thing...

I've been thinking about her fighting style, and for a reference I used the The Witcher 3 again (yeah) There's a vampire species, Bruxa and Alp, and I'm thinking her fighting style would be something like of an Alp. Fast and agile, also pretty strong (tho still not strong enough to take out big enemies like the Kraang in their suits).

I have this scene in my head that I actually been sketching already, where she's fighting the Kraang hounds, and pretty much able to lift one grabbing it by it's throat and throwing it into the tree like a rag doll.

Another thing is her screech she uses to intimidate/immobilize her enemies. It's also more of an alp than bruxa, especially in this video time code 00:36, this is pretty much how I imagine it.

I also know that I've messed up her eyes when she's in her Kraang mode, because they should be turning purple, like Raph's left eye that wasn't covered by Kraang flesh, but, uuuh, I don't want to change that at this point...

I think that's it for now...? If I'll have more ideas I'll either be making other posts, or updating this one.

Some snippets into Donnie's relationship to his brothers in the Separated AU

So after having figured out that Donnie is in fact their Long Lost Brother, the Drax Trio obviously want him back, and while Donnie is initially excited to find out that he has a bunch of siblings, he's less excited to find out that they're a bit, uh, evil. And they keep insulting April!! How dare they!!! Not to mention, he already has a dad, he doesn't need a new one! So no, Donnie isn't planning on just leaving his current family behind for this new one, and his brothers react to this in various different ways.

As much as Mikey wants Donnie back, Dr. Feelings understands that this is quite the adjustment for Donnie and that he may need some time to come to terms with the fact that he actually belongs with them and not with the humans. Mikey doesn't wanna force his brother to reunite with them, so instead he tries to convince Donnie to come home willingly through various ways. I mentioned this in an earlier post, but AU Mikey is essentially trying to give Donnie a redemption arc like Canon Mikey did with Draxum

Raph, however, sees Donnie and immedietly goes full Protective Big Brother Mode. He thinks the best course of action is to "forcefully rescue" (kidnap) him and and then convince him to stay and be apart of their family. He's can't help catastrophizing about all the way his baby brother is definitely being mistreated by Lou Jitsu and April and all the other evil humans oh NO they have to SAVE HIM!! The only reason he doesn't is because no one else in the Draxum family thinks it's a good idea

And then Leo. I'll go more into detail about Leo's character in this AU at a later dat cuz hhhhhhh but basically, he's still dealing with pretty intense Middle Child Syndrome and the LAST thing he need is another middle child joining the family! Why are all his family members so obsessed with getting Donnie back anyway? He's already clearly chosen the human side so why waste their time on him! .....Now that's not entirely the whole truth, he's kinda ecstatic when he first meets Donnie, except Donnie doesn't seem to care about them any, which... ouch.

Another way to describe their dynamic would be similar to their canon dynamic, a lot of friendly bickering.... except they don't really know each other and are also enemies here so like.... UNfriendly bickering.... which is just bickering lol. They fight a lot, is what I'm getting at.

Anyway you know the family dinner scene with Draxum in season 2 of the show? Yeah, Mikey tries that tactic here too. Like I said, Mikey wants to be patient with Donnie, but he does eventually get a bit tired of Donnie acting so hostile all the time so he starts organizing hangouts for the four of them (attendence is mandatory!)

And poor Donnie, this whole situation is a bit of an emotional rollercoaster for him, as you might imagine. Reuniting with your secret lost family is fun for all of five seconds before you find out that they're actually kinda messed up uh oh. A big reason why Donnie acts so hostile towards his brothers is because it's easier for him to just dismiss them as mere enemies that he feels no attatchment to. He's basically being made to pick between this new family and his old one is Not Fun.

Shredder loves picking people up by their heads. He never gets to destroy them, however, because raph swoops in LIKE A BOSS EVERY TIME. The first time, shredder decides to attack leo with his tekkō kagi but draxum just gets the claws

If there's one thing raph's gonna do, it's stop the shredder from killing people 5 ft off the ground
