i start with a base sketch which is over a character with similar height as my oc and then i start to color and do lineless art

there are some parts (mainly the body) that I trace over because it’s easier that way

i also draw body part from body part like i would draw the thigh seperate from the leg so I can pose them

i know people draw their own completely but im a perfectionist so i want them to look like if they were in the game so i trace some aspects of it 😭😭

Who would your OC say is their best friend?

Vizzie:

If she's being honest with herself, she would say it's the childhood best friend Kai, which uh. She. Killed. When they were 8. But in TWST...I think the way she qualifies "best friend" is who makes her happiest to be around. So even though he's more of a little brother figure before a best friend, Ortho is her lil buddy. She adores him. But if we cut out the familial bonding (so Leona is out of the picture too), I think she would consider her best friend Deuce. (They end up being metamours in the future which is even better). But he's relatively quiet when it's just him without Ace, which is nice for her. She likes to help him study, and he lets her speak her notes out loud so the lessons stick with her easier. They both struggle with emotional regulation to varying degrees, and in her canon she's the one who collaborates with Vil to get Deuce and Epel Gremlin Bells for their blastcycles ^^ Aspen:

Sam, lol. They were roommates together (to me, both in Pomefiore). They've been inseparable since their first year. I recently wrote a silly little ficlet where Aspen is involved ^^ Cory:

Epel!! Fellow Short First year struggling with gender identity and orientation while also being scouted by Vil OTL. While Cory considers Epel his best friend, Epel does not see him the same way, mostly because he barely knows the guy! Cory is very awkward and isn't used to interacting with folks, as a firefish mer, he rather enjoys hiding away. So just one or two positive interactions will have this guy believing you're BEST of friends.

Paisley:

His SHAZAM! figurine. 10/10 comfort item, and he can hold it while his (adoptive) papa Vargas is carrying him. Who is also his best friend. Vizzie is a big sister figure so he's chill with her too, but thats about it.

Vizzie:

Rollo. He can't wrap his head around why she would ever forgive magic users, especially when he clocks her vambraces having been put on her by force via a magic user. She can't even hate him back, because she sees so much of her old self in him by the time they meet, she just hopes that one day he can free himself of the hatred he carries, because she knows deep down it's internalized guilt and a coping mechanism.

Aspen:

Crewel hates my stoner half fae dude with a passion. Crewel worked hard for everything he achieved, Aspen is a gifted kid. Crewel tries to be protective and nurturing with his students, but they all choose to go to Aspen instead. Crewel very desperately wants to have buy in with the student body like Aspen does but tries to hide it.

Cory:

It's not that Vil disrespects him, he just feels like Vil pushes his boundaries a little too much for him to be comfortable around Schoenheit. He knows he's cute but gods Vil, he hates the cameras and having attention on him via social media.

I'm a good ol'fashion pencil and paper type! Specifically mechanical pencils, bc I like the feel.

But I have mad respect for artisits of all mediums.

(Here's a pretty old sketch of the ramshackle bois, I tend to draw Yume's hair more curly traditionally, cuz it is. When I drew this they didn't have their full names. I just called them Yu, Yuu, and Yuuu bc I thought I was funny! Still is.)

For the longest time I only stuck to traditional for several reasons, but one being that digital was just so intimidating. I felt like I had to follow all these rules I made up for myself and I if did anything to take shortcuts or make drawing easier (you know like how digital is suppose to be) that I was cheating and I wasn't a real artist. Tbh I still struggle with it sometimes.

what do you love getting compliments about

Tbh any compliments are the best! Idk if there is any in particular that I get super excited about hmm... I guess when people like the stuff that I'm worried might be cringe, it makes me feel good! Like OC x Canon. I put a lot of care into thinking about how characters would develop/be in a relationship so its nice when other people like their dynamic too!

Besides that whenever I get complimented on how canon characters look bc b4 twst I never really drew fanart. Just my OCs!

I am having this very frustrating moment where my brains just won't give up with inserting my oc from a different game into twisted wonderland. I have SO MANY ideas on what to write im just struggling with them interacting with crowley bcs my oc grew up in an environment where adults are very much competent, supportive, and involved in children's lives (whether theirs or others) and this trait of theirs trancends time, space, and memory loss but i cant have them hate crowly on sight 😭😭

Oh ho ho~ A very interesting situation.

I'm speaking in a long-term fic, so I apologize in advance.

Well, I know the pain of wanting to insert an OC from different fandom but find complications in between. Though I can see at least two possibilities:

Change necessary things for your OC. If it's a different media entirely and clashes with TWST, I think changes are alright to fit the new universe. But you can also keep the elements, but provides explanations for them. Readers are not stupid, but they can be lazy (I know I am). Some readers want to experience the story in the fic without needing to look through wiki because this can make it seen like the author is lazy to put description.

Example: Your OC is from Naruto. TWST has the advantages of Yuu/Player from another world, so you can have the Naruto OC's world as a backstory. But change all the chakra-thingy to TWST magic. Maybe special Jutsu like Rasengan or Sharingan is unique magic. Or keep all the ninja elements but explain the difference between the chakra thing and TWST magic, because not all of us watch Naruto.

Now, that's settled. How about our current situation?

This, I think, is way easier. Maybe because I'm biased and have a love-hate relationship with Crowley and I might be too jaded with Dad Crowley from my own fic.

It's true that you just can't hate Crowley on sight (from the prologue) because we barely know the OC so it wouldn't make sense in-story. However, we have the advantage of actually seeing Crowley in action throughout the episodes. Your OC can see how Crowley acted and just grow a bit of resentment/annoyance at the headmaster. That way, it's more reasonable for the hatred and we might be rooting for the OC to punch Crowley in the face. The more your OC interacts with Crowley, the more annoyance builds up (eye-rolling, being passive-aggressive, venting to others), so the moment your OC might scream in Crowley's face is very rewarding.

hm, if you’re asking about drawing programs, i don’t really know of any that are free unless you find ripped/pirated versions of them online, which admittedly is what i did when i first got a tablet back in high school. i eventually did get the paid versions of the programs though, which are completely worth the investment in my opinion, so i do recommend getting them if you’re able to afford them!

i currently mainly use Sai2 for drawing (i originally bought the previous version, Paint Tool Sai, for about $45, and was able to download Sai2 for free with the license thing that came with PTS) and i still love using the program, as it was easier for me to learn to work with when i first started drawing digitally! if i remember correctly though, you can download a free trial of Sai (with limited features) for about a month(??) so you can try it out for yourself to see if you like it.

i also use Clip Studio Paint for a variety of things i can’t do in Sai, like textures, patterns, adding text, screentones, etc.! CSP is more pricey than Sai, but it’s currently 50% off and they have these sorts of sales often, so i would grab it when given the chance!!! using the program is a bit of a learning curve (i, too, am still learning how to use csp sksjjf), but it comes with a lot of great features and assets so being able to get all that for 50% off is a really good deal if you ask me.

if you have an ipad and apple pencil, you can try looking into procreate! i don’t have experience with using it since i don’t have a recent generation of the ipad or an apple pencil but procreate is like, $10 and many people seem to like the app a lot!

sorry i don’t have any suggestions that are free, but i hope this could be of some help at all, bc again, i do think the investment is worth it! 💦 i wish you luck with your art!!!

*sighs* I really don’t wanna write this but- I’m mostly thinking about PMMM in terms of TWST. In that case, this is more of a, “how would TWST react to knowledge of PMMM” thought experiment. Considering that TWST is basically isekai, that does work out pretty well. Picking a specific magical girl would be hard though... maybe a series of oneshots? Hmmm... it might be easier to just write from TWST character(s) perspective, leaving the specific Mahou Shoujo ambiguous. Fudge nuggets, now I want various different AUs on this- there’s just so many different ways to play with this (most of them angsty as fuck but what can you do about it lol). Explaining (in the midst of a breakdown) the incubators and how they specifically prey on young girls bc of the ease in getting magical energy from them... depending on the setting’s reverence for women, I can see a lot of outrage already

Is it terrible of me that I want a Mahou Shojou to basically go through the events of the first few chapters of TWST and then snap? Actually, depending on who the MC is, this could take place before the first Overblot or during/after the third... mostly- the isolation and despair that builds up from being trapped in a new world... 🤔 the blackmail and contracts from Ch 3 of TWST is also a major trigger moment. If she overworks herself just enough... well, it’s a race between which would come first- the Overblot or the Witch? If it was Sayaka though... Scarabia would be major triggering- the loss of body control would probably be enough to trigger a meltdown+Witch (though I have to say- her purposeful transformation in Rebellion is stellar)

if we go the Mine route (as in, following Canon), have them come across the Ink Monster (Dwarf Overblot) and drawing clear parallels to Witches... the attachment to Grim would also be less likely- his hunger for the Overblot ink stones that appear after they have been defeated is another disturbing parallel to Kyubey (beyond his clear “mascot” form).

I think that Riddle being saved from his Overblot would also cause distress. Think about it- once a Mahou Shoujo transforms into a Witch, that’s it. There’s no way to save them from that- the only thing they can do is kill the Witch, use the drop to cleanse their own Soul Gem, and feed the Witch’s Gem to Kyubey. Not so with the Overblots- like, yeah, there are major similarities, but those who Overblot are able to be saved if defeated quickly enough. Like, off the top of my head, I can already tell that Homura and Kyoko (depending on the BE she’s from) would be super fucked up from that revelation. Homura bc of all the Mercy Kills she had to do, and Kyoko who tried to preserve Sayaka’s dead body after Oktavia

Part of me wants to use either an OC for this or Homura; Homura bc she knows so much about the Magical Girl System and the Incubators, and an OC bc it would be really hard to get Homura to cooperate in that kind of setting.

The idea of a crossover between Puella Magi Madoka Magica and Twisted-Wonderland is keeping me up at night. On one hand, it would be epic, and there is some crossover between Overblot and, well, Witches. On the other hand, my heart already hurts just trying to imagine the sheer pain because holy fuck PMMM does not fuck around man- the genre shift would definitely be more deadly than it already is
