Honestly the fact my face hcs on xehanort are kinda inconsistent is admittedly a direct result of the fact that the

flashing images under a cut (it's literally a before and after of young xehanort's 3d models from ddd and then kh3. my woes. my sorrows. they changed his nose shape and browline and upper lip area so much. they also made his neck a bit shorter. also this isn't a matter of yx in 3 being younger or anything to my knowledge, becaaaause scalanort comparisons are even more dire and drastic. and yes i did have a bear of a time aligning these why do you ask.

also on these gifs the eyelashes on both models are removed, since with them added it makes the differences on the models even more prominent

Some really interesting questions here. I could write an essay in response to some of these questions, which means you’ve undoubtedly asked some good questions heh. You're a sharp one. Lemme answer these as best I can without anticlimactically revealing essential lore in this random tumblr post heh heh

The stupid thing about that lore doc is that it should be even LONGER. While parts of the Dialup are explained, parts are left out, because I realized that explaining it would require adequately explaining a piece of very strange context regarding another character. Long story short, it connects to something that should ordinarily be very far removed from Crown's tale, so I left it out. I actually left entire pages out to avoid having to explain who someone previously unmentioned in the doc was. Crown's story is funny in the sense that so much of it is why Dialtown (both the game and the city) is the way it is, but the main story of Dialtown is so far removed from it, the only connections to it remaining being Mingus/Norm's beef. Norm's account of Crown's life isn't exactly inaccurate, no one thing he says is technically incorrect, but it misses vital context that completely changes parts of it. Norm missed the end of Crown's presidency, so he also had to learn from revisionist/secondary sources. Some parts are overly detailed, while other parts aren't. EG: Crown's early life has a LOT of focus, but as the timeline gets closer to the end, the detail slows down. Crown's two years of 'honorary leader of the UN' is brushed over, a title that implies he had control over the entire world briefly. As Norm's extras menu implies, Norm is (just like in Mingus) in partial denial about aspects of Crown's leadership and is also in the dark about the behind the scenes stuff from Crown's presidency. Crown's vice president (and best friend, Milton R. Wallace) ended his life after falling out with Crown over the Dialup, and the postcard read in chapter 3 heavily implies that Marla had returned to Dialtown without Crown after he left office. Since Mingus exists, we know Marla + Crown had at least one kid together. Could you imagine trying to raise a young family with the most powerful man in the world, a man who plans his day down to the hour, all without even having a permanent address? Crown’s final days were lonelier than Norm knows and I’d love to discuss them more one day.

Any instance in-game where time seems to be falling apart, there’s common visual signs that reality itself is tearing apart at the seams, hell, even outside of the main endings. Only one character in the cast seems to be really aware of this and... Well, seeing God binge-drinking on the curb is usually a bad sign of what’s to come. Hitchcock’s advice for writers who wanna add suspense to a scene is to make people unaware of something significant that’s about to happen. Example: Two men sitting at a table in a diner, talking about something, say, like football... Not a massively suspenseful scene. However, add a live bomb underneath the table, and establish that neither of the men know that it’s there, and every second of that scene will feel like hours, as you hope to GOD that one of the men will look under the table and notice the bomb before it goes off. The bomb under Dialtown’s ‘table’ has a long fuse, but the clock’s ticking down. A lot of what people have noticed regarding Dialtown’s time fuckery is a symptom of something (or someone?) desperately trying to plug up holes in a sinking ship. Anyway, I think I’ve said enough.

Callum Crown’s fame makes it impossible to tell if there really is any connection between him and Gingi’s appearance outside of an eerie coincidence. If Gingi’s head resembled a frankensteined JFK, I don’t think anyone would think for a moment that it meant that JFK and Gingi shared a direct connection, of course, and same for say, Mr Bean and the like. But Crown himself also being connected directly to Norm + Mingus makes it strange. Maybe it’s just the universe’s weird way of doing things, or maybe caused by an intrinsically unknown force? Maybe whoever built Gingi’s phone head just felt that it should look like the most powerful man on earth? Lotta possibilities. I mean. Like, I know the answer. But, for you guys, maaany possibilities!

The big issue with the question, of course, is how utterly abnormal Gingi is. God outright implies that Gingi is some sort of time anomaly, since he’s never seen anything quite like Gingi before, and with some of Gingi’s 4th wall breaking dialogue, it seems Gingi has some fleeting awareness of events in other timelines, somehow. That’s excluding Gingi’s weird biology or the fact that Gingi can hear sentient voices. Gingi is unique. You’re right that Gingi being able to hear Crown is abnormal, and combined with, like you said, them having similar appearances (and hell, I’ll add fuel to the fire: how transfixed Crown was with Gingi in that memory Mingus tearfully recounts during the climax, the one where Crown stares at Gingi while Gingi rummages through the garbage outside his window at the nursing home), there’s enough of a connection to be weird, but not enough of one to say anything conclusive. In my eyes, though, I reckon that some universal force could be drawing these two weirdos together, almost like a moth to a lamp. Birds of a feather.

talking about writing woes under the cut, it’s like i’m not intending to whine but i understand the way i talk about things comes off more weird than i mean to so just, it’s under the cut anyway, i think it’s fair to want to get some thoughts out on my own blog

i sat down to try and get back to work on my fanfic and, ouch, OUCH. every time i stare at the document i just get this wave of defeat. a voice in my head over and over saying “this is stupid. this is pointless and cringe. this is way too over the top for a dota fanfic. why don’t you just turn it into an original thing because you butchered the source material so much you fucking loser your writing is also just trash garbage anyway.” and it’s like holy fuck i’ve barely even written a sentence, calm down.

it sucks bc i am so god damn passionate about this fic, i believe in sunbreeze with every fibre of my being. i genuinely want nothing more to just write a cool story about this part of a thing i really like that i see a lot of interesting potential in. and i do not want to come across as pretentious in saying any of this, but i want to also be able to show like, hey, you can do fun and cool stuff with this thing that has no lore, it’s possible!

but it’s not fun to sot there second guessing yourself repeatedly for hours on end because you can’t tell if this thing you’ve written is actually good or is it complete first grade tripe that has everyone who reads it laughing at you behind your back (okay im well aware that’s mostly paranoia but like, yknow). i want writing to be fun again, i wanna feel excited to make this thing but i feel dread. i thought working on a second draft would make me feel better, because i would be fixing things i hated in whats currently there, but im just locked in the same feelings i had when i slowed down on the first version, and that is i just i feel like this is all a clown show and the equivalent of people awkwardly passing by a busker on an empty street.

now i know the solutions are either take a break or turn it into an original thing but

a) ive already been taking a break and using my free time there to learn new skills, the result is i can 3D model but im also going fucking insane

b) no.

at the core, i’m just frustrated and would love to not listen to those bad feelings, but it’s been months now with minimal progress and tbh i am exhausted. part of me wants to hang up the story completely but that would also be admitting to full failure and proof that i cant finish anything bc my brain is broken, so that’s not cool.

i was wondering, how is it possible for people to be shocked by outcomes in the 3d or for anyone to ever feel like "i did not see that coming!" if everything is a manifestation and in order to manifest you HAVE to be in the state of something being true because manifestation is when self embodies something and the 3d reflects self? you can't be shocked and thrown off guard by something you believed/already knew, you can be upset but in a "woe is me, i knew it, this always happens to me, why does this always happen to me" kind of way not a "wtf? but i thought... xyz?" shouldn't everything that happens in the 3d be met with an "i knew it..." if the 3d is only ever a reflection reflecting self then how can there be supermodel's with body image issues? most people think they're "perfect" and worship them for their looks even though they themselves are super harsh on their looks and don't find themselves to be all that? should that not be what's reflecting though? not just the fact that they are "logically" attractive by society's physical standards so regardless of what they think of themselves people still find them attractive? how can there be people with mental illnesses like my grandfather who believe outright a chair is speaking and not only to him and that not actually reflect in the 3d? he's dead serious about it and at no point thinks it's strange or untrue.

the plain and simple answer is because believing something about the 3D doesn’t mean anything. you believe the 3D is one way all you want and still be “hit” with the “opposite” because belief in a dead world, a mirror with absolutely no meaning does NOTHING. thats why we say you must change SELF, it has NOTHING to do with whats in the 3D. Also, a lot of people when faced with the “opposite” do actually go to “woe is me” after the initial shock because they constantly experienced the same patterns.

as for supermodels, how do YOU know they believe people who say they’re pretty? You can have the “opposite” 3D in your face and STILL SEE IT AS SOMETHING THAT SERVES YOU! someone can tell you “omg youre so pretty!” and you can instantly think “they dont mean that. theyre only saying it to make me feel better or because they want something from me”. also, you can still think you’re shit and still believe that others love you. im an example of that, i used to believe i was so ugly, insecure, and unworthy but i had a strong belief that any guy i like would chase me and fall in love so that’s exactly what i experienced. even tho i had the opposite 3D, I still felt shitty WHILE knowing guys love me so much.

and also, there are infinite realities lmao. in YOUR reality you view those models as beautiful and everyone likes them, but in THEIR OWN they can have a totally different experience. you are also placing your assumptions on them and only experiencing YOUR limited perspective. Same with your grandpa.

belief in the 3D means nothing, and you can have multiple assumptions that relate to you AND others.

i would recommend that you apply the law for yourself instead of trying so hard to disprove it (not saying thats what you intended, but it does come across that way). it shouldn’t matter to you what others do and can’t do in their reality, use that energy for your own self. I cant force you to belief and have faith. and its not my job to.

Good morning! I have another paranormal incident to report, and this time it's definitely leaning more towards the game being cursed instead of happy. I got stuck on the enemy turn infinitely and it wouldn't progress to the heroes' turn. At first I thought it had something to do with the stooge who was the last enemy to move, but then I realized it was actually that Peach had gotten splashed off and wasn't reappearing back on the field. (I guess it was the stooge's fault technically anyway!)

Look in the back where Exosphere is and you can see where she went, lol. She's just not coming back.

But believe it or not, I'm not here just to tell you about my woes of having to do this battle again when I was so close to winning (I'M SO NOT MAD, HONESTLY). You see, while it was stuck on the enemy turn for so long and I was just hoping it would magically fix itself, I happened to notice THIS-

Coming right on the tail of us talking about what the stooges are like behind their masks/hoods, allow me to say: WHAT?!

Here's some footage where you can see this mysterious red thing in action, because it's kind of easier to see when they're moving around. I promise I was doing my best to get a good view of it but I could not, lol. Get too close and the camera just goes through the character/they become invisible.

At first I thought it was their true eye(s) but I threw that out quickly because it seems too low? And then I thought it was their mouth, and then later speculated their TONGUE?

But when I looked at the footage again later, I noticed if you look closely you can soooorta see it through their mask and I swear there's like this little triangle shape there? First image I have highlighted it, second I upped the contrast so you can see it easier on your own.

So at this point I'm like 80% sure this is some weird 3D modeling leftover that we were never supposed to see and it's some kind of anchor point that defines the center of their model or something (although idk why they wouldn't have made it invisible in gameplay).

But IN universe, it really looks like they just have nothing back there except some kind of uncanny red SHAPE that emerges from the darkness of their beings to hold their masks on and anchor it into their forms. I suppose we can go wild with this, and in the meantime I'll keep trying to see if I can ever get a better look at it somehow.

Peach just gave up right there, lol.

That thingy behing the Stooge's mask looks interesting. I think it's really the anchor point for the mask (I'm not an expert, but it seems to be detached from the main body, thus needing an anchor point to keep it in place) that was accidentally left visible.

I really want to say it's a tiny Darkmess Eye, so if it was made visible from behind the mask would give it a Duskull like appearence, but as you said it's too low. Maybe it can float around freely in the empty space behind the mask. Or maybe it's a Darkmess Tentacle holding up the mask?
