So apparently the fine, rather bourgeois, folks at my place of employment are generally aware that I am absolute best a Fascinating Eccentric, they did not so far believe me that I am also a horrible goblin and possibly a raccoon. So many stories of wild dumpster diving and theft escapades, all laughed off with "you're so silly!!!!1!!"

Well, as the authors say, show, don't tell.

The contractors have come and gone around the building for many months now, as have the construction dumpsters. Mostly filled with concrete dust and broken drywall up until now, but just yesterday containing a treasure - several wooden pallets. Unclaimed. Unmolested. Near perfect, and an excellent source of free lumber for craft and firewood alike.

And that is how an office full of boomers watched out the window and camera feed as I calmly climbed my entire business-casual ass into a construction dumpsters over lunch, yote several pallets out of it, climbed back out with significantly less dignity (i had used the pallets to climb in, and they were now Out), and loaded up my truck that I drive mostly just in case such opportunities present themselves. My reputation remains well formed as Fascinating Eccentric, but there's a tone of respect behind it today.

Yesterday a customer came in just to ask specifically me a question.... she had gone to petsmart after her snail died to possibly get a new one and get her water tested to find out why it died....

Petsmart told her that her snail died because she didnt provide it a bigger shell to move into.....

So, a Man walks in and asks to buy beer at 3am. I tell him we can't sell after midnight. He then proceeds to go on a tirade about how it's unfair and how I'm a racist for not selling to him.

I look at him, and calmly tell him, "Sir, I'm sorry you're disappointed but I don't believe "douche bag" is a race."

I suspect my boss is going to get a call about that. Oh well.

My Mindless Self Indulgence t-shirt was noticed today at work. And not just for the weird design. The 60-something grandma in the office 2 doors down saw it and said, "Fuck yeah! Love MSI!" She might be my new favorite coworker.

This happened to my coworker. She had a woman come up to her checking out the book “What To Expect When You’re Expecting.” She asks out of curiosity if its the customer that’s expecting or if its a gift for a friend. The customer says, “No, its for my wife. She was expecting up until three hours ago.”
