It’s funny how my 5th english volume of Wotakoi has a misprint on it (pages 5 and 6 are on the opposite sides of the paper). I don’t find it annoying, it’s more fascinating to me that a massively produced manga like that even managed to get this misprint even.

Which makes me wonder if others have that same misprint too.

Criminally overlooked: Zankyou no Terror (Terror in Resonance) I love this anime but... get a box of tissues ready for it

Depressing anime: Grave of the Fireflies /It was hard to choose beetween this and Zankyou no Terror.... both of them leaved me with red puffy eyes and running nose/

Hanako Koyanagi from Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii looks like Nighteye and it furthers me to say Nighteye is trans. Doesn't he just look trans tho? he also looks really gay like something about him and also his name is pretty feminine i looked it up and

i LOVE koyanagi, she's so amazing and it's so funny that you pointed out that nighteye looks like her because damn they kinda do look alike????

nighteye doesn't look trans to me but we can indulge in anything here so let's just get into it. Imagine calling her miss or madam nighteye instead of 'sir', automatically makes it better, also the name mirai is very pretty and i agree it has a feminine vibe to it, she would look so elegant in heels too !!!

I finally finished Wotaku ni Koi ha Muzukashii (Wotakoi: Love is Hard for Otaku) starring Takahata Mitsuki and Yamazaki Kento and I cannot even express how utterly disappointed I am by this live action version. I’ve read some of the manga and watched the anime and I liked them both, but this movie feels like a hot mess.

I didn’t mind Takahata Mitsuki as Momose Narumi, but I didn’t find her character as likeable as I did for the manga, especially with the random singing. I wasn’t a big fan of Yamazaki Kento as Nifuji Hirotaka though. Yes, he’s good-looking but I don’t really think he really suits the character. His acting is just kind of meh, but I don’t really think he could do much with the material he was given. I didn’t really feel any chemistry between the two leads, but honestly, when I saw them in the first dancing and singing scene I think they already lost me. I think they did a good job casting Nanao as Koyanagi Hanako but I wished I could have seen more of her character, especially with Kabakura Taro (Saito Takumi) instead of as some random lady at the bar. I think they did injustice to Kabakura’s character with the crying/complaining about his girlfriend. I don’t remember his character being so whiny especially to Momose. There was just injustice to the manga left and right.

Plot-wise, the beginning seemed like it would follow the manga, but then it just got bizarre, especially with the added in flash-mob and unnecessary singing. I feel like they should have developed the side characters like Koyanagi and Kabakura instead of including all those unnecessary musical scenes. I’m not sure what they were trying to achieve with all the singing, but I don’t think they succeeded. I know this might sound mean, but the singing wasn’t very good either and I shouldn’t expect it to, since no one singing are professionals, also another point as to why it was unneeded. I wished they followed more of the manga instead of whatever they felt like because they really lost the spirit of the story and characters.

Apologies for the rant about unnecessary singing, but my heart just burns (with anger, not passion) at the thought of it. If you didn’t like the movie as well, give the manga a try if you haven’t, it’s much better. Anyways, I give this movie 5/10.

The chapter of wotakoi where they’re all worried about Narumi because she seems really sad and they find out it was just because her favorite manga character got killed off is one of the most relatable things ever.

wholesome anime to watch 💞

1) Barakamon

summary: handa is an up and coming calligrapher who moves to live in an island and find a new and creative writing style. he befriends the island and inhabitants and queue the endless shenanigans.

comments: VERY FUNNY! and super fluffy! if you’re feeling under the weather and want something to cheer you up then I highly recommend watching this anime. and the artwork is just phenomenal.

2) Gakuen Babysitters

summary: a middle schooler is adopted by the headmaster of his new school. in order for him and younger brother to live rent free at her mansion, he needs to babysit the children of his teachers at his new school.

comments: just like barakamon, this anime is hilarious and fluffy. you will be coo-ing and squealing every five second at these adorable, yet mischievous children. and the heart warming bond between the main lead and his younger brother is just so heartwarming and wholesome.

3) Wotaku ni koi wa muzukashii

summary: narumi starts a new job where she is determined to hide the fact that she is an otaku while also finding a new love.

comments: if you’re tired of high school romance and want something that’s centered around adults where the stories and events are more relatable, then you should definitely watch wotaku! cosplays, otaku jokes and dilemma, rppg and more! very funny and has one of the cutest and catchiest openings ever!

4) Akatsuki no Yona

summary: princess yona lived a privilege and happy life at the castle, however, she is on the run for her life when the king is murdered.

comments: a historical anime which features a badass female lead, tooth rotting sweet romantic scenes, mischievous and chaotic dragons and a cute squirrel. this anime is so good that I just had to read the manga and it’s EVERYTHING I EVER WANTED!

5) Kamisa Hajimemashita/Kiss

summary: nanami, homeless and basically poor, is offered to live at a shrine by a man she helped. unbeknownst to her, she becomes the new the land god of the shrine.

comments: I have NEVER been jealous of a love story than I have been while watching kamisama kiss. the female lead is strong and isn’t there to take anyone’s shit. the show is honestly hilarious with breathtaking artwork and a beautiful soundtrack. 

6) Monthly girls' nozaki-kun

summary: nozaki is a respected shoujo mangaka. and when sakura confesses her love for him, he mistakenly thought that she wanted his autograph.

comments: miss watching ouran high school host club and their shenanigans? well, nozaki is just like that! funny, entertaining, wholesome and with lovable characters. plus, it will show you the lifestyle of a mangaka and how they come up with plots for their stories.
