So I read the watership down graphic novel a few days ago (it was very good, great adaptation of the original book though some things were missing/lacking) and it gave me the itch to draw bunnies again. So instead of, idk, cooking or eating dinner I drew a bunch of watership down bunny rabbits :) Its almost 12 am and im starving but I just needed to get it done today, i wanted to share the watership down love. Who knows, maybe if I had stopped, it would have ended up in wip limbo/hell and i didnt want that to happen Anyhow, I sadly wasnt able to fit everyone but I tried to include most of the main bunnies. I was gonna squeeze blackavar in there but i was all out of brain juice and also canvas space. I used photo references of wild rabbits to try and get the shapes right but the ears were very challenging. Im afraid some might have turned out looking more like hares instead but I really tried my best! (this took me like over 4 hours rip) I also tried really hard to make their coat colors and patterns varied but still believable/natural-ish. Vervain is a lil random because honestly i didnt know what to do for him so i just let the vibes guide me. To fill the empty space beneath pipkin i included tiny El-ahrairah, the black rabbit of Inlé and frith because i despise having empty space on sketch pages. Anyhow im gonna try to figure out what to eat now, hope you guys enjoy!

More Izzy and Ricky thoughts (and some Watership Down)
I'm writing up some meta about Izzy in the last episode and expanding on the Izzy vs Ricky post I did here.
See, right before the finale I realized what Izzy's speech to Ricky reminded me of: The scene at the end of Watership Down when Bigwig faces off against Woundwart in the warren.
Now that I've seen the finale and reread the part of the book I like that comparison even more.
Izzy and Bigwig are trying to protect family from a bigger threat, putting their own lives at risk to do so. There's a lot of back and forth taunting. Both Woundwart and Ricky try to get the other to stand down. Ricky tries to appeal to Izzy's ego and it doesn't work. Woundwart tells Bigwig he'd be welcome in Efrafa (Woundwart's warren)
And of course to top it all off Izzy and Bigwig get killer insults out.
Izzy: rancid syphilitic cunt
Bigwig: Silflay hraka u embleer rah (Basically eat shit stinking leader)

you know what’s messed up, in all of those “MS girl” drawings that are popular all of the mobile suits are drawn as the same skinny girl body type WHEN in reality you know a huge chunk of the mobile suits would butch. i wanna see a zaku drawn butch, the rx78 would also be butch. the only exception to this is the woundwart

Watership Down is my favorite book in the whole world
If only there were words to describe how I felt reading my favorite chapters, paragraphs, sentences?
"the whole world will be your enemy, prince of a thousand enemies..."
"Because I can see! Come and look, you can see the whole world!"
"my Chief Rabbit has told me to defend this run and until he says otherwise I shall stay here."
And there are so many more quotes that give my chest a soaring feeling. How do I write them all down?
And how do I wait to talk about my favorite characters, battles, conflicts?
How do I wait for Hazel Dandelion and Blackberry's race against the hound, for Hazel Hawkbit and Dandelion to reach the top of watership down? For any of Dandelion's stories (which one is my favorite? I do not know)
How do I wait for Holly and Bluebell, and their tale of suffering and fear, enough for El ahrairah to cry, and how can I wait for Bigwig's brush with death with the snare? The excitement I feel when reading about the race from Efrafa
How to I describe that feeling I get when I read about Bigwig's final fight with Woundwart? There is so much going on in that scene I can barely contain myself. How do I describe it?
There is so much more I just want to scream about with this book, but I can't type it all out

Advance of Zeta is just MSV for people who love to spend shitloads of money on P-Bandai. It’s not real, it was all a psyop from Big Plamo to get you to buy an HG Woundwart

Fav mech?
ok so I can say a lot about mechs and what I like, but generally I like shapes that lean into organic curves and a feminine aesthetic, weapons that are unconventional or integrated, things piloted by Newtypes, and fat fucking thighs so my favourites are like, the Krun Macula (Heaven Will Be Mine), the RX-124 Gundam TR-6 WOUNDWART (MSG: Advance of Zeta), XVX-016 Gundam Aerial (MSG: Witch from Mercury), XV-8 Crisis Battlesuits (Warhammer 40k).

One of the things I love about watership down is the way it handles fear and fatigue. Most stories treat fear and fatigue as things that can be endlessly fought against. It's a challenge sure, but with enough Will Power and Strength of Character our intrepid heros can Overcome Their Fear or Push Through the Pain no matter the odds!
I get why stories work like that but fuck is it nice to get a story once in a while that says "No. Fear and exhaustion are real and while they can be resisted for a time there's a hard limit to what a body can take and No amount of Strength or Force of Will can overcome that limit."
The group has to rest frequently during their journey even when resting is dangerous! because they Cannot just forge on forever or their bodies will fail out from under them and they know it. Fear can overcome and paralyze even the bravest among them and They Know It! It is an acknowledged part of their reality that constantly shapes the characters and the story!
Woundwart is defeated in part because he refuses to acknowledge his limits. No sane rabbit no matter how fierce stands their ground against a Dog. Even his own followers, a group of deadly hand picked warriors, flee in blind terror and only Woundwart in his madness considers them cowards for it.
idk its just nice to see that sometimes you know? Fear is a survival trait. Hard physical limits exist and you aren't a coward, you aren't weak, just because you can't defy them. No one can defy them forever and refusing to admit that will get you killed

“And when you do, we will destroy their warren and leave no trace of them on this earth!”
Been searching on an off for a new voice for Kha’xanzyr. Skar and Zaan are easy, but for Xan... I wanted someone who had the rage, but also the intelligence and the bombasticity that I was imaging. It took a bit-- I looked at Ultron, but he sounded too old. Looked at Aurelion Sol, but the fury just wasn’t there. Finally settled on 2018 General Woundwart, who has all those things: The Age, The Fury, but Also the Intelligence. Then I started messing with pitch and whatnot.
Azog would’ve probably worked too...maybe I’ll save him for Hargrim Dreadaxe 🤔

Edge is based of General woundwart from Watership down right?
Not really. He's pretty much his own character. Periwinkle shares similarities with Cowslip, however. - RJ

Character Mash 2 - About Bigwig
Tumblr media
Bigwig is the strongest of the main rabbits in watership down and the fighter of the group. He is the backbone of the group as the character who gets them out of their biggest problems through his bravery and common sense. Hazel is the leader of the group but Bigwig was often the person expected to lead. Of the rabbits Bigwig was hardest to convince to leave the warren as he was slow to believe fiver and is a very proud rabbit, reluctant to admit fault. He is also not the smartest of the group but is skilled in strategy when it comes to fighting especially in his fight with Woundwart.

Here’s my review of the Watership Down book and comparisons to the movie (I’ll be rating them into a sort of pros and cons thing to make writing this easier) (side note, I was originally gonna include pages from the physical book I have but I’m currently lending it to a friend, so I’ll be using pages from the internet)
And of course, spoilers for the book
Book
Pros
First I wanna say that the language that is used for the rabbits is just so interesting. I loved being able to read certain words and then turn to the lexicon to see what they mean. The way it’s written and just flows well into the story makes it more of a fun read.
I also thought the quotes that went along with each chapter were a nice touch. To me, it gave a more humanized look at the story and something to foreshadow the chapters details.
Tumblr media
There were a good amount of characters that weren’t seen in the movie like Hawkbit, Speedwell, Acorn, Bluebell, and Buckthorn, and even if they didn’t receive many moments in the books, they were still a nice inclusion to liven up the main cast. And the moments they did get were nice.
It was nice to see the amount of new scenes and character moments that were cut from the movie in here, like the Crown In The Bean Field chapter or the inner workings of Cowslips warren and ideals.
Tumblr media
I found it amusing how Hazel was a little self absorbed, instead of wanting to get the hutch rabbits in the barn because Keehar didn’t seem to come back as promised, he instead wants to get them purley one up Holly before he came back with the Efrafa does. It seems like an annoying character trait to read through at first glance, but it never got annoying to me and it’s clear Hazels plan to one up Holly and get the hutch rabbits came with the price of him getting shot by the farmer. And it also builds up hazels character as a confident and determined leader.
Efrafa was extremley interesting to read about. I liked how we got to see more of the does and their personality’s and the owsla officers relationship with Bigwig. Woundwart was as terrifying as ever (though I think he was more so in the movie than book, but I’ll get to that in the cons) I enjoyed seeing more scenes with Blackavar (one of my favorite characters) and how the rabbits struggled more with getting off the boat they escaped on than they did in the movie.
Tumblr media
Hazel being saved by Lucy was so unexpected (The title of the chapter being a Deus ex machina is just hilarious) and must have been fascinating for Hazel to experience a human caring for him.
The ending of the book was good, and I thought it was nice to see what became of characters like bigwig and Fiver after the battle. And as always, no matter which adaptation, the ending always gets me crying.
Cons
(Before I get into cons, all the cons I list don’t make me enjoy the book any less. They’re just things I though the movie did better or could’ve been done a different way) (most of these cons I try to see and understand why they were there in the first place and give the benefit of the doubt)
I thought characters like Boxwood and Clover could have gotten a little more development, as they are not even seen for half the book minus the chapters they were found and the very end of the book. For me at least with characters like Speedwell and Hawkbit, they felt apart of our main cast, but Boxwood and Clover just don’t for me. It would have been interesting to see more of how they were adjusting to rabbit life and their personalities. I understand why that couldn’t have been done though, as the book was already jam packed with many other story lines going on that were more important.
Fivers scene where he finds out hazels been shot was just heartbreaking, and the dream he ends up was interesting to read since it’s the only time a rabbit has understood a human and been able to read human words (even if they were though animals lol) however, it felt very underwhelming to me. The whole dream and Fiver finding out where Hazel is happens within literally one single chapter, and I thought that it just went by too fast for a moment that was resolved way too quickly. Again, I understand the story might have needed to progress quicker though. (And besides, the movie gets though it just as quickly with one scene, so I can’t fault how fast it happens from either adaptation that much)
Other than that, I didn’t have many other cons about the book, and most cons I did have were just nitpicks.
Overall, I adore the book, and love it for existing in the first place. It’s such an interesting story about a rabbits view of the world and made me think about myself sometimes and how I view the world. I’ll make a next post about my pros and cons with the movie, and which of the two adaptations I think did things better.

I've noticed that several people tend to misspell the name Woundwort as WoundwArt. No idea why but it's funny.
I can't help but think of that Mario villain every time I read that.

The selfish red-pilled grifter, naturally, doesn't believe in a plan. It is an automaton cucked by Trump, who also doesn't need a plan to run the whole country, which is why nothing changes and typical americans are a Snorelax... automatically, such ideologues do the propaganda for Trump. Becoming more abusive is their solution, though they're helpless without their parents.
But these are hollow victories, the victory of a King Baby or of a General Woundwort... the victories of those who preach freedom but truly oppose it.
General Woundwort did not have the babysoft King Baby side that we see in Trump and his cucks. General Woundwort, you see, had a much harder life than they did. General Woundwort was more of a HItler. General Woundwart was no role model.
All Trump and his cucks do, generally, is point to General Woundwort and say 'that! now that's tough!'
Meanwhile, they themselves are mysteriously afflicted with a case of the bone spurs.
It's just unbelievable weak stuff, isn't it kids?
