These RO/LU sling chairs, called Aluminum Rauschenberg Chairs (2011) because they'd been produced by one of Rauschenberg's original fabricators, who RO/LU got to know during a residency in Captiva [? I'm inferring to make the dates work] are just some of the great RO/LU pieces in an auction next month from design dealer/guru Patrick Parrish's stash.
The OG felt, rope and fur version, Primarily Primary (2011), made in collaboration with textile artist Ashley Helvey, is not in the auction.
One of RO/LU's particular skills was moving from blog-based historical discovery and contemplation to IRL response. This image-to-experience translation often swam against the cultural rush to digital of the 00s and 10s. And yielded some interesting artifacts.
