Why Write?

Why Write?

  I write because I have something to say.

  I could leave it at that but being a writer, I am obligated to elaborate. I write because I need more out of life. Now that’s not to say that I have a rough life, I am actually very lucky; I have a roof over my head, two loving parents, four great siblings, and a feline friend who acts as a living alarm clock every morning at 6 am when he’s hungry.

  In college I have great attendance but I am not always present. Let me explain. I am constantly thinking about different stories that I could write, worlds I could create, and characters I could speak through. The back cover of my notebook is covered with snippets of story ideas and potential novel titles.  I sign my name on the top of each test paper but I would much rather it be on the spine of the next great American novel.

  I enjoy going on the internet and reading up on the authors whose books I’ve read and finding out how they got their start. Not once have I read an author who said that becoming a published author would be easy. But as philanthropist Andrew Carnegie once said, “Anything worth having is worth working for”. I have a hard time focusing on subjects that I am not interested in but my dream of becoming a published author is one that would definitely be worth fighting for.

  Now I could go for the safe job, one that guarantees a steady paycheck but also guarantees miserable workdays from 9-5. I could forget about being a writer but then I’d be lying to myself. I’m sure you have all read the About Me section of my blog and this is why I do what I do. This is why I write.

I'm still overwhelmed and humbled by the massive outpouring of support so many of you showed me and @sourcepointpress during the Live Auction last Friday night. We more than DOUBLED the highest auction total to date with over $3,300 in bids(!) due to your enthusiasm for the special HOPE, HAUNTED HIGH-ONS, WRITE OR WRONG, and NIGHTMARE WORLD swag I donated from my vault. Super huge props are also due to @pops_and_vintage of @officialtwiztid and @majikninjaentertainment for a few very special bonus items they donated to the auction as well, demonstrating yet again what great partners and friends they are not only to me and us, but the findi as a whole. It's been a rough few months for a lot of us in the comic industry, but examples of this type of positive and productive passion are demonstrative of why I'm so proud to not only work with @sourcepointpress, but also grateful for the personal and professional support they and so many of you dedicate to my projects.
