Sl1p wyib
Slipped stitches are used in mosaic knitting and other patterns.
Usually stitches are slipped purlwise, i.e. you insert the needle from right to left as if to purl, because that way the stitches will still have the right orientation in the next row.
If you slip a stitch, the working yarn will pass behind or in front of the stitch until you knit the next stitch. This is usually abbreviated to wyib (with yarn in the back) and wyif (with yarn in the front) respectively.
Shown here is a stitch slipped purlwise with the yarn in the back.

Pt3 of my temperature blanket
Now that you’ve got all your stuff you just need to start knitting!
But I had to look up how to do the chevron pattern so I thought why not show everyone here who wants to see it because they want to try it out.
The chevron pattern is simpler than I thought it was before looking it up. Since it’s just knitting and purling with some increases and decreases. I do it a little bit differently than the original pattern I found because I want to have nice edges on this.
For all the middle pieces you’re going to want to cast on 22 stitches, and for the outside two you need 24.
Here’s the pattern for piece 1 if you know how to read knitting patterns.
Row1: Wyib sl 1 knitwise, ssk, k7, m1r, k2, m1l, k7, k2tog, k3
Row2(in garter): Wyif sl 1 purlwise, k22, p1
Row2(in stockinet): Wyif sl 1 purlwise, k2, p21
Repeat As Needed
I will add a link HERE for more in depth instructions at a later date
Anyways, this is what it ends up looking like. Wrong side and right side.
For the last piece, the other side, you do this for the rows.
Row1: Wyib sl 1 knitwise, k2, ssk, k7, m1r, k2, m1l, k7, k2tog, k1
Row2(in garter): Wyif sl 1 purlwise, k22, p1
Row2(in stockinet): Wyif sl 1 purlwise, k2, p21
Repeat As Needed
And for all the middle pieces, you do this.
Row1: Wyib sl 1 knitwise, k2, ssk, k7, m1r, k2, k1l, k8
Row2(in garter): Wyif sl 1 purlwise, k20, p1
Row2(in stockinet): Wyif sl 1 purlwise, p21
Repeat As Needed
And that’s it!
Have fun!

After some time away from the blog, it's time for another not so weekly, weekly swatch.
I have prepared the bubble knit stitch. The texture of this simple stitch is achieved by slipping stitches with yarn held in the front of the knitting (wyif) and at the back (wyib).
The stitch pattern is available via my main blog. Link below.

A common abbreviation that may be confusing at first. Watch today’s video and you’ll see how easy it can be!

//petition for knitting patterns to use full actual words instead of the headache-inducing abbreviations such as, for example:
“s1 wyib (K1, S1, wyif) repeat until 1st remains, k1, s1 wyif p all sts.”
WHAT.
DOES.
THAT.
EVEN.
START.
TO.

Several times I have been asked how to do slip st with yarn in back (sl 1 wyib) after yarn over in Bosc Pear shawl pattern. Some knitters have found this confusing or impossible to do. I've made video how to make [sl 1 wyib, k2, psso, yo] sts combination. I hope it helps 😄 Enjoy! #tetianaotruta_tutorials #otrutadesign #BoscPearShawl #videotutorial #knittingtutorial

Slip stitch purlwise with the yarn in the back (Sl1p wyib)
Mosaic knitting utilises slipped stitches to form colourwork patterns. The advantage of this technique is that, unlike stranded knitting, you only work with one colour in every row.
Stitches are slipped purlwise. On right side rows, as shown here, with the yarn in the back (wyib).
On wrong side rows, stitches are slipped purlwise with the yarn in front (wyif) (see previous video).
This way the strands are always on the wrong side of the work.

WEEKLY STITCH! ☕️ Happy Friday, friends! I am really, really happy to read all your kind words and see that you like the Weekly Stitch series. Thank you so much! Please be sure to turn post notifications *on* to stay in touch. . After the two previous two posts I got so many questions about this edge. OK, let’s do it! Why not, right? This i-cord edge is very simple and looks so neat and beautiful on any yarn weight, in any project. I’ll show you with this chunky yarn how to knit a 2-stitch edge and a 3-stitch edge. . Abbreviations: wyib – with yarn in back, wyif – with yarn in front. . 2-STITCH EDGE (white swatch). Cast on any number of stitches (12 in my swatch). You will need 4 stitches for the edges. Choose any pattern you like between the edges (reverse stockinette in my swatch). Please note: this kind of edge is worked differently on RS (right side) and WS (wrong side) rows: Row 1 (RS): sl 1 wyib, k1; work in your pattern to last 2 sts; sl 1 wyib, p1. Row 2 (WS): sl 1 wyib, p1; work in your pattern to last 2 sts; sl 1 wyif, p1. Now repeat Rows 1-2 for as long as you like. . 3-STITCH EDGE (grey swatch). Cast on any number of stitches (14 in my swatch). You will need 6 stitches for the edges. Choose any pattern you like between the edges (reverse stockinette in my swatch). Row 1 (RS): sl 1 wyib, sl 1 wyif, k1; work in your stitch to last 3 sts; k1, sl 1 wyif, p1. Row 2 (WS): Sl 1 wyib, k1, sl 1 wyif; work in your stitch to last 3 sts; sl 1 wyif, k1, p1. Now repeat Rows 1-2 for as long as you like. #knitting #knit #natalya1905 https://www.instagram.com/p/Bvmecrygad_/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=jgsjdvdcim07
