AU where xiao has no karmic bonds anymore and works in liyue’s food delivery services

idk wanmin restaurant is expanding its service and xiangling heard zhongli telling guoba (when zhongli visits the ex-stove god the conversation is really one-sided but zhongli doesn’t mind, he can ramble enough for the both of them) that xiao is looking for work, and yknow, xiangling’s seen the young adeptus here and there and he’s praised her cooking before, both she and her dad don’t expect running deliveries to be that much work (plus he can teleport, it won’t be that hard) and he’ll get paid decently, why not offer him a job? he can pilot the program for a bit and then they’ll see whether it turns out ok, the worst thing that could happen is getting 1 star reviews on sevenstars.tyv for “unapproachable and frightening demeanor of delivery guy” (sumeru scholars invented the internet a couple years back or something). 

obviously zhongli says yes for xiao, because he thinks xiangling’s suggestion can do the young adeptus good—trusty old common wisdom states that food warms the heart and brings people together, and xiao (or any liyuen) is not an exception. and of course xiao agrees to zhongli’s proposal because when has he ever refused a request from his god and savior. never! zhongli and xiangling both assure him that he can refuse or resign at any point and neither will hold it against him, but of course xiao takes his job extremely seriously, and if yanwang di- no, if zhongli daren wants him to do it, of course he will.

xiao doesn’t have any feelings on the arrangements because it’s just another thing to keep him busy lol but he appreciates complimentary almond tofu, especially since he manages to persuade xiangling to make it the traditional way he likes it and save her new and improved tofu recipes for Other customers to try

xiangling sends xiao to more remote places at first to avoid crowds, which he appreciates, one time he goes to qingce village and ends up meeting little luo again, he doesn’t even remember her until she exclaims “you’re the adeptus who rescued my doll!!” with a giant smile on her face... were humans always so blindingly bright? he stiffly gives the family his greetings, and tries to smile a little bit at the girl (she’s extra pleased by this, maybe he’ll ask zhongli whether he has good smiles or whether they look like grimaces). little luo... was it? he should get xiangling to send her some candy next time.

he gets sent to the chasm one time bc the miners ordered hotpot as an end of season celebration, and he finds a small little memorial to the millelith who died in the chasm 500 years ago. after delivering the hotpot ingredients, xiao climbs to the top of the cliff to pick a qingxin and offer it to the memorial. the other yakshas were always pretty fond of humans, so it’s only natural. 

when he gets a little more used to the city xiangling sends him to deliver stuff around liyue harbor itself—one time the delivery was for hu tao, xingqiu, and chongyun, hanging around wangsheng parlor. usually xiangling would join them herself, and the young opera director yun jin and their rockstar friend xinyan visit too, but the three were busy with their own plans that time and it fell to xiao to deliver their dinner: light translucent shrimp dumplings without carrots, a bowl of cooling soup, and filleted fish. he hears them playing a rowdy game of something (mahjong... with only three players? or maybe tcg.... but as a 2 v 1 game? he’s getting more and more confused by the second) before the door’s opened by hu tao; she seems really ecstatic to see him, except her smirk sobers up quickly once they hear chongyun shouting “hey! you stole my cards!!” regardless she thanks him for the food, and then tells him a joke that really shouldn’t be funny at all except the corners of his mouth quirk up against his will. of course hu tao notices this, she’s always been a mischievous child too clever for her own good, and she smiles even wider in return and tells him that he’s welcome any time in her house. if he brings a couple hilichurls along he’s even more welcome

and of course, a lighthearted scene where, surprisingly, zhongli also places an order, but it isn’t sent to wangsheng funeral parlor, xiao goes all the way to jueyun karst and delivers the order to cloud retainer, mountain shaper, and moon carver. they’re just chilling and zhongli is introducing them to take out. “so, what do you all think of wanmin’s handiwork?” xiao tries to leave before any of them can start droning on and on, but obviously he ends up spending the whole meal with them because nobody can escape the sheer force of zhongli and cloud retainer infodumps. the other adeptus ask after him and the meal is generally silly banter: there’s a digression on triangular cups,,,, some nagging for xiao to eat more, “look at my newest invention isn’t it wonderful”,,,,,, and other small and incredibly mundane nothings that keep the conversation flowing like the tea from their triangular cups. insignificant occurrences in more peaceful lives, and maybe xiao is learning how to fall into this new rhythm of things... maybe he even likes it, maybe it will bring him more smiles in the days to come

I’m sorry for not posting for like, a whole damn month 😢. Anygays, I have chongyun as my strongest character so I thought ‘fuck it, why shouldn’t I write something on here without my friend knowing. It’s not like they can stop me’.

-Chongyun would get unusually warm around you and wouldn’t know why so, he asked Xingqiu about it.

-I can’t type out how much Guhua Geek Xingqiu would tease and talk about this supposed ‘crush’ on you.

-After the teasing and explaining, Chongyun is heating up at an insane rate, like he is about to explode from heat

-Xingqiu tries to persuade him to ask you out or confess but Chongyun was going through all of the ‘What if they don’t like me back? What if they think I’m weird? What if I accidentally heat up too much and pass out?’

-Eventually Xingqiu lets Chongyun off the hook for now and leaves Chongyun to do his own thing

-Meanwhile, your crush on Chongyun has been painfully obvious, so much to the point that Xiangling is constantly asking when your going to ask him out or if he finally noticed your love for him.

-“Soooo…. Does he know yet?” “WHA- No! It’s not like that!” (Or you can come up with your own reaction)

-Xiangling insists on you just telling him and will maybe meet up with Xingqiu to get you two lovebirds together.

-Xiangling asks you to come and hang out with her, Xingqiu, and you guessed it… Chongyun!

venti makes soup and many vegetable/fruity foods because “they’re good for you! have some wine with that ehe”

jean comes by at some point with barbara to check on venti and co. they’ve got other foods and some hydro healing for venti’s partner <3

ohm comes over to see his friend and brings him some medicines, food and wine. he gets to witness the anemo god get all soft and squooshy for his s/o it’s so sweet

he takes off his hat inside the house but will go around with a blanket around his shoulders to mock his partner smh. the blanket is on his head like a hood and he fake sniffles with an almost derisive laugh but he gives his partner a real smile at the end <3

“Y/n, may I have a seat here?” You heard from in front of you as you were taking a sip of the milky drink. You looked at the owner of the voice; Kazuha.

He had stopped in Liyue for a while, he never told you why. You only just found out a few days ago when he told you that he was gonna go show that traveler how to play an “ancient zither”.

“Huh? Oh, sure,” You said, setting your drink down and watching Kazuha take a seat. He looked around the area before taking a peek at what’s in your cup. Despite having good social skills, he was a very awkward guy.

You shrugged. “Meh, I don’t know. I mostly came to visit a few friends and things, not really anything important.” Kazuha nodded in acknowledgement.

“I see. I taught the traveler how to play the zither like i told you. I’m surprised, they got the hang of it quite fast.” He said, his chin resting on the palm of his hand as he stared deep into your eyes, smiling with some sort of loving smile.

“Oh, good for them. I bet it’s nice to have a break from everything and just play an instrument.”

Kazuha silently nodded, looking away from you and instead looking at a few kids playing.

“Y/n, what do you think about when you see me?”

You raised an eyebrow at him, thinking about his question for a moment.

“Well, uh, I think of what you smell like.”

“No,” Kazuha lightly laughed, turning back towards you. “I mean, what are your opinions on me?”

Xiao always had somewhat of a soft spot for you, for some reason. Maybe it’s because you weren’t scared of him like he expected, or that you were just nice to him no matter what.

You were sitting on the ledge of Wangshu Inn, Xiao holding you up by holding the bottom of your back while you were telling him a story.

“—Yeah, so then she literally spiked my drink. I don’t know how she snuck it, but Hu Tao is really something.” You said, looking down at Xiao who was staring off to the side. “Hey, are you okay?”

“…Yeah.” He said, glancing at you for a second before looking away again. “That was an interesting story, y/n.”

“…Are you sure you’re alright? You’re acting… more emo than usual.”

He turned to you with a frown on his face, slightly letting go of your back to make it seem like you were gonna fall off the ledge. And it did.

Xiao sighed before looking at you in the eyes, a slight tint on his cheeks.

“It’s like, my heart is racing a lot lately. And i have this… urge, to stare at you. In a protective way. I’ve never felt this with anyone else before, and it’s making me feel odd.” He explained to you, glancing away at times.

You looked at him with wide-eyes before laughing.

“Xiao, I think you’re in love with me.” You explained. He looked at you with a stunned expression, before you leaned in and kissed his cheek.

“But that’s normal, you know?”

“...So, you reciprocate these feelings?” You held his hands, something you never expected him to let you do, and nodded with a smile.

Scaramouche:

You both were hanging out in his office, a custom he let you do rather often. You sat on the floor reading some novel while he was looking through papers of some sort.

“Y/n, pass me that one file.” He called, you looking up to see him looking straight at you.

“You think i know what “that one file” is?” You laughed, before getting up and going to his filing cabinets and picking out a random file. “Is it this one?”

“…” He sighed, shaking his head, before getting up and walking towards you, gently pushing you out of the way to get the one he was talking about.

“This one, this is that file i wanted.” He held it up, shaking it in your face like you were stupid or something. “But whatever, i guess i wasn’t specific enough.”

You shrugged and sat back down, picking back up where you last left off in your novel. However, Scaramouche just set the file down on his desk and walked over to you, crouching down next to you.

“So this is what you do while i’m working?” He asked, scoffing when you nodded. He then snatched the book from your hand and skimmed it over, a look of disgust on his face as he handing it back to you. “You’re disgustingly weird.”

“Aha, well, it’s not like i’m apart of the fatui like you are.” You laughed before reading the book once again. You only then realized that his hat was off, something you haven’t really seen before.

“Woah, i’ve never seen you with that yeeyee ass umbrella off your head.” You pointed out to him, which made him frown and punch your shoulder.

“This is a privilege, you know. You’re not even supposed to be in here, so you better get your act straight.”

He stared at you— specifically your head, for a concerningly long amount of time, before he placed us hand on top of your head, ruffling your hair.

“What the— what are you doing?” You asked, looking up at him to see him looking away, attempting to his his reddened face.

Data's incredibly interested in the furthering of teyvat's technology and is always trying to invent crazy new shit like ""phones"" or ""televisions"" whatever that shit is lmao. Those are just simple little side projects though their main focus is trying to create their own manmade visions. They haven't made a lot of progress but they're incredibly determined and are constantly studying to find a way to create one. Them having a vision to study is already very helpful but not enough, they've tried various materials to construct a vision like gadget but they always seem to fail. They even learned advanced alchemy. They're willing to do almost anything. Almost considered joining the fatui just to attempt to get a delusion but decided against it. Again doesn't much care for the gods but man if they got their hands on one....Their family from way back when was from khaenri'ah but they currently live in sumeru. Don't know a whole lot on khaenri'ah and sees no reason to study the past. Visited mondstadt once or twice to meet with albedo for help with alchemy and ended up very interested in art. doesn't do it themselves but thinks its nice to look at.

Piedmont [Title: Swift Delivery] - 5⭐ hydro catalyst she/her 21y/o

Horse girl Horse girl Horse girl. She works at the mondstadt post office and is the quickest delivery person there but she often gets peoples items mixed up. She's very well liked despite her constant mistakes. She does get extremely embarrassed when she messes up deliveries. Loves to hang out at the tree in windrise or in nature in general but when she's in the city off the clock she can be found at the cat's tail. There was an incident at the knights headquarters that got her lightly scolded simultaneously by kaeya and jean and she almost quit her job out of shame.has a high respect for many of the knights and has a crush on both the acting grandmaster and calvalry captain and is a complete disaster when around them. family's original from fontaine but both her and her parents grew up in mondstadt

I’d like to say that he handles your differing personalities, depending on the amount of sleep you get, pretty well; he’s used to being around energetic people (e.g. Xiangling), has had his fair amount of eyebags from staying up ungodly late while reading a book, and is perfectly content with chilling while reading a book. The two of you are pretty similar honestly; you’re just a tad bit more introverted than he is, with yourself being an INFP and him being an INFJ. Like with Lisa, you’ll often find yourself accompanied with Xingqiu, as well as a plethora of books—expect the pile to have a few of Liyue’s newest releases as well; those are something he doesn’t mind spending his family’s money on, especially if there’s a chance of you enjoying them. He’ll often ask you if you’d like to accompany him to the Wanwen book house, where the two of you are regulars (Jifang always reserves the best of bunch for you for this very reason).

Cafe dates are a must (can you imagine just,, sipping a mug of tea in a cute little cafe with xingqiu sitting across from you,, damn)! He’s said to have a love for baked goods, so raiding the nearest bakeries are also a must—carrot cakes are a big no, however; if he’s ever being a bit too teasing or mischievous, just give him something carrot-related and it’ll stop that behavior right away (please why am I making him sound like a child) Granted, he might “gift” something that you may not particularly not like back, so be careful when doing that :’)

Additionally, you’ll find yourself embarking on a lot more adventures with him, especially if he has his heart set on reading a particular book. The two of you often hold book club sessions together, and drag an unwilling-Chongyun right beside you (he doesn’t participate, he just listens to the two of you discuss your book stuff while eating a popsicle lol.) Hanging out together at the beach on a cloudy day is common as well; the sound of the waves lapping at the shore makes good company while reading a book, and the weather is well—however, do take caution with taking Xingqiu to the beach,, he has a tendency to splash water on you like the mischevious boy he is (but never the books, only you :|) I’d also like to think he kicks sand at you but only when no one is around,, it’s bad for his reputation </3 just don’t do it in the first place pls xingqiu

i have some genshin headcanons wanna hear em

- beidou and kaeya definitely get drunk together (their favorite place is the angel's share specifically when diluc is present) and they throw drinks back way too much. timeskip to when they're dead drunk and diluc is like why these mfs have to be like this. he calls jean and ningguang and is like "get ur dumb bitches outta my tavern 😐" and they have no choice because they're both too responsible for their own good. this occurs every weekend.

- going off of the first one... ningguang and jean r totally friends they're both the responsible intelligent type and theyd get along really well imo

- childe starts to treat lumine more like a little sister (that he would fight at the drop of a hat lol) after the monoceros chapter :))

- ganyu hangs out with beidou and afterwards ningguang asks 4 deets simply for... her personal endeavors 😼 (this hc from my friend lol)

- sucrose definitely has put strange concoctions in her food......... which is why i would say she and xiangling would be unlikely but cute af friends

- speaking of xiangling, she definitely tried to make perfectly normal food once and threw up eating it LMAO

- amber doesnt own any other headband colors other than that specific red one. she's got a closet of just red headbands.

- same with kaeya. he definitely has a gajillion eyepatches

- razor totally spent months perfecting his puppy paw hash browns. specifically those. no other dishes. the only person that taste tested them for him the whole way through was barbara

- ningguang can totally play both the erhu and guzheng. like really fucking well. i said what i said

- beidou and ningguang played liyue millennial once. beidou never tried again.

i definitely will continue Thinking About Genshin but i've been sitting on that first one for a while hehe

GOD i think since dec 2020 now... more than a year T_T though i started on a new account feb 2021 cause i stopped playing for like a month inbetween then LOL

7. What character do you main?

kaeya!! 😊😊😊 luv him forever... him and itto are my most invested in dps characters so i guess him too idk. i will forever be a kaeya main in my heart though

8. What is your main team?

OOH OKAY so my normal kaeya team is kaeya - kazuha - fischl/xiangling - qiqi but my itto team which ive been using a lot recently is itto - sara kujou - gorou - noelle :) both are really fun

15. Who is a character you don’t have but want?

HMMM i really wanted xiao back when his first banner was running and i still really like him so it sucks that i cant pull for him on his rerun soon 😭😭😭 maybe on his second rerun ill get the chance...

mona!! got her on childe's first rerun banner LMAO i still dont have her fully built yet though u_u

20. Do you prefer Mondstadt, Liyue, or Inazuma?

god thisis literally so cringe of me but its mondstadt 😭 this is def in large part due to kaeya living there but also i just really like the funny interpersonal relationships all the characters have there... also i like hanging out there in-game its nice and peaceful :)
