Nothing like reading a clyde-side fic and diving into a small, isolated town with an unsettling yet welcoming secret. Flashes of iconic imagery with a rich interior. Well-researched, with that perfect splash of history to prove that Capitalism is at the root of all evil. God bless!! God bless!! God bless!!

I'm having ygo thoughts again and all I can say is that I think people in the DM universe should be incomprehensibly grateful Yugi got the Millennium Puzzle and not Ryou because can you imagine how codependent those two would be? Ryou, local ghost lover permanently haunted (no pun intended) by the fear of being lonely forever, paired up with Yami Yugi (Yami Ryou?), local ghost who is SO determined to make sure all his friends are happy and suffers from a crippling need to be useful and used? Together? Shadi would have to separate them with a crowbar for the Ceremonial Duel and 5 seconds afterward there would be a 50% chance one or both of them would kill him with the same crowbar for making the other sad. They'd be insufferable. Inseparable. Mostly just insane though.

BEST YGO GIRL: SEMI FINALS
Match 2
Tumblr media
please use this as an opportunity to say why you like a character, not why you don't.
Propaganda under the cut!
Isis Ishtar
gorgeous, very caring sister, strong duelist, and the only woman to ever make Seto Kaiba squirm
anyways. not only as mentioned above is she the first woman to make kaiba squirm, but she was by all means going to beat him if not for the millennium rod's millennium interference. yami marik admits that she's a strong duelist with a strategy that's been working for literal years-- and given that she's not like, a professional duelist, thats pretty impressive
she also recently got some really cool meta bumps and let me point out that an "ishizu deck" now includes obelisk the tormentor-- which we knew she had prior to giving it to kaiba, but i think it only solidifies my opinion that she very much could wield an Egyptian God Card, an exclusive little club for top tier duelists
as a character she presents herself with an amazing amount of poise and grace, shes compassionate and kind and stays with mai and serenity even though she only just met them. shes struggling through living the past 5 years of her life drowning in guilt for her family's tragedy just because she wanted to make her little brother happy and shadi is a fucking liar. shes foretold her own death and marches towards it grimly but with so much love in her heart. and even then shes 20 years old and holds an important position in the egyptian government that typically requires a doctorate degree AND has been dealing with mariks off-and-on bullshit entirely by her lonesome. she also likes to flex her fortunetelling a little which is awesome i think she should do that more that scene where she tells the guy exactly how the stele is being transported was so everything
speaking of shes got such an attitude. "is it your destiny to waste my time?" iconic. never seen before will never be seen again. watch the duel between her va and joeys its so fucking funny
shes excult. shes doesnt flinch in the face of god nor death. seto kaiba and yami marik respect her. shes so sad and so sweet and battle city couldnt have happened without her.
also her parallels with kaiba are what motivate kaiba to give yugi the card he needed to beat marik.
kaiba, in duelist kingdom, was ready to jump off a ledge if yugi didnt let him through to face pegasus while trying to save mokuba out of sheer desperation to save his little brother. he KNOWS what that dedication feels like and the iron kind of will you need to have to make that kind of gamble. isis is being so fucking legit with what shes saying and he respects that and her judgement enough to change his mind and not only watch the duel, but give yugi a card that eventually helps him win, even if he has no real confidence in the odds. but theres a CHANCE, which is the same thing he taught her when he beat her in a duel. the layers its her faith that moves him to act. which is so crazy
anyway vote isis shes my best friend forever and a real rep for all the 20 year olds who honest to god did not sign up for this bullshit
Aki Izayoi
An abuse victim who isn't the perfect passive figure but gets to work through her complicated feelings about power, agency, and family. Even with Yusei's help, she is the star of the show when she learns to control her powers and reconciles with her father, it is so fun that a ygo heroine gets to take such an antagonistic role bu not be shamed for her anger
please vote for my main girl, aki izayoi. aki was led to believe she was a monster from a young age by her father, who treated her powers like it made her unworthy of love. as a result, divine was able to swoop in and take advantage of aki's low self esteem. for years, aki believed herself unworthy of love and was molded into a living weapon at the hands of authority figures in her life. she was taken advantage of, and thus when she finally comes face to face with yusei, she refuses to believe he could provide her with unconditional friendship. who would want to be around a monster, after all?
aki also nearly beats yusei TWICE in a duel, bringing it down to a single turn difference. she comes toe to toe with him, and it truly is the result of who dueled better. she remains a fierce duelist, btw. the second season, aki gets her duel runner license, and immediately nearly beats the ass of a tournament winning turbo duelist - to the point where once again, a single card is the deciding factor. that's right: she nearly won. if not for a single trap card, aki izayoi would've won.
a fierce duelist who was shaped into a loving, caring woman despite years of being beaten down by the world: aki izayoi. vote for her now on your phones.

Oh my god
Au where after Mr Bakura fuckin dies from ring/zorc exposure (dsod) and Yami Bakura/Zorc kills Shadi (and the child cult???) Ryou is left alone in the temple. A few days later, representatives from the Ishtar clan arrive, and they decide to take Ryou in since a Millennium Item chose him as its true host. So underground he goes!
Upon his arrival, Forefather (Mr Ishtar) tries to take away the ring from him because surely this heathen can't be the one true bearer of the ring, but the ring spikes dig themselves into poor baby Ryou's chest so that's a no go. Ryou is down for a few days, and Rishid ends up taking care of him during that time. Malik barges in once, demanding Ryou to play with him, but Rishid manages to persuade him to leave Ryou to recover.
After he gets back on his feet, Forefather graciously allows him to keep the ring, and he gets adopted into the Ishtar clan to the same degree as Rishid. So he's sort of like a lower class servant? Rishid and Ryou grow closer while he teaches Ryou about his duties and chores, while Malik gets increasingly more jealous in the background because Rishid is paying some newcomer kid more attention than him. It gets even worse for him when Isis starts babying the timid kid despite Ryou literally being older than him and not even being the sane class as them. He gets a bit more aware of his alter, and he starts getting more withdrawn.
Something happens, which causes Ryou and Malik to get trapped in an abandoned dark room together, and they are forced to confront each other. Malik is fully on the offensive, but Ryou is mostly just trying to diffuse the situation. Malik freaks out when their oil lamp flickers, but Ryou manages to distract him with stories of the surface world. They talk a little, and Ryou opens up about the ring and the voices which Malik can sort of relate to. After the light burns out, Malik nearly snaps and switches, but his new friend(?) is able to soothe him with a big warm hug and maybe lullabies his mother used to sing to him and Amane. Rishid and Isis manage to find them.
Plot progresses as usual, but now Ryou is present. He goes up with Malik and Isis to the surface to show them around and unconsciously lifts the motorcycle magazine Malik liked. When they go back down, they see the Forefather nearly killing Rishid and Malik snaps. Yamima comes out to front and catches the whip midair before it could strike them. Yami B also subtly takes over just in case to protect the host body and to observe. Yamima gets the rod but is embarrassingly clumsy with it, clumsy enough to warrant Bakura tell him the key to using it properly. Isis is mortified but quickly puts two and two together and realises that the baby is possessed by a fuckin demon. Yamima does the murder/skinning bit, and Bakura just laughs. He says goodbye and gives control back to Ryou while Yamima goes after Rishid. Ryou again manages to calm him down and Rishid whisks them away after he comes to, leaving Isis and the rest of the clan behind.
Ryou and Malik grow up and start the Ghouls together. Bakura takes care of a lot of food and resources in the early days, but Ryou eventually learns from him and becomes just as good. He's also trying to tame Yamima part-time, which is not going as well as he'd like.
Timeskip to when Yugi lends the puzzle to the museum. Malik gets notified of the completed puzzle being exhibited in Japan, so he sends Ryou ahead to scout and establish himself as a friendly face to Yugi. The rest of the plot again progresses as normal with the difference of Ryou being a bit more cheeky and pushier than in canon, Bakura and him actually working together and an extra reveal of him being involved Malik the whole time.
I'm gonna cut it off here because I don't know how to continue from here... But rest assured, there's definitely some weird ass conspireshipping dynamics involved here XD

It's been two months since we last discussed the plot of the Yugioh manga. In the meantime, I read some setting collections, but today let's continue with the plot. :)
Shadi appeared and entered Yami's mind room. He thought Yami might be someone who values others more than himself and decided to test him. It seems he believed that as a king, one should be cold-hearted (of course, neither our author nor Yami agrees). He brainwashed Tea and Professor Yoshimori, placing Tea on a suspended board, secured only by a few Shabti figures. Joey had to chase and evade Professor Yoshimori while Yami faced Shadi alone. In the early stages, Yami often fought by himself and rarely had friends' help, but this time Joey assisted him.
At this point, Yami was still unsure about the true power of the Millennium Puzzle. By the end of this story, he believed it was "unity." However, when he later encountered Pegasus, he worried that the Millennium Puzzle might contain evil power, so he refrained from using it. Eventually, he discovered that the true power of the Millennium Puzzle was indeed unity. The so-called evil power was just Zorc being sealed inside temporarily, not the inherent power of the puzzle.
Interestingly, in the manga, Tea liked Yami at this point, but she had never seen him and had only heard his voice. Therefore, in her mind, Yami appeared as a faceless Superman. The author, Mr. Takahashi, once said that he really liked American comics, especially superhero stories. Maybe Superman was one of the inspirations for Yami.
Yami was very clever and successfully passed Shadi's test. However, I think I'll talk about the specific process next time.

You've got me curious about Museumshipping. How would Ishizu try to fix Bakura?
This is kinda long. Sorry for the wait, and any scatter brained nonsense.
This is mostly speculation and Divine Intuition, but the main reason I think Ishizu could fix Yami Bakura is because she seems like the only neutral character in Yugioh. She’s also the only character with no real beef with him.
Like, Yami Bakura has made enemies with everyone else except Ishizu.
Shadi doesn’t like him because he killed him and most of the Plana
Pegasus probably doesn’t like him because he stole his millennium eye and killed him
Yugi doesn’t like him because he tried to steal the puzzle and kill/hurt his friends and lied to him about being a changed person
The rest of the Yugi gang don’t like him for the same reasons (tho I think Tristan would probably hate him the most because he pays the most attention to Ryou)
Ryou sure as hell ain’t trying to redeem him unless it’s right after he dies
Ghost and the Gang are in hell because of him (I hope he sent them to the cool hell)
Marik doesn’t like him because he just doesn’t like him
Odion probably doesn’t like him because he inadvertently got Marik killed by Yami Marik and he just does whatever Marik wants.
Mai probably doesn’t like him because of how he treats the Yugi gang
Aigami fucking hates him
No one else knows who he is
So, that leaves Ishizu as his last option to help at redemption. From what I’ve seen in the anime adaptation, Ishizu doesn’t see Yami Bakura as much of a threat (due to her necklace) and Yami Bakura just flat out has no clue who she is. I think these factors would make them willing to not only interact, but also maybe help each other out.
Maybe since Ishizu wants to protect ancient artifacts, and Yami Bakura likes stealing them. They both benefit by having Ishizu possibly pay him to go and find any missing artifacts. I just get the feeling that since he’s technically King of Thieves whether you think he’s more Zorc or not, he could find them pretty easily. I think he’d like having an excuse to steal.
There’s also the fact that since Ishizu has the power to look into the past, she could see everything that’s happened to Yami Bakura and begin to understand and sympathize with why he wants the items and why he hates Yami.
She snoops in his past more and more and starts to resent the Pharaoh, but she’s scared of what will happen if she betrays him.
I think it’d be interesting to see her having an internal conflict about this because she was raised to serve the Pharaoh, but at the same he hurt Yami Bakura in ways that can’t ever be forgiven.
Ishizu being the only other person to know both sides of the story could be important to Yami Bakura getting redeemed.
And now time for this plot bunny that has been stuck in my head for a few months.
I think that in the situation where Yami Bakura got his own body sometime after the Memory World arc, he’d fall on some pretty hard times. Not as hard as it could be since he’s the greatest thief to ever exist, but he is homeless, jobless, motivationless, and he probably thinks he’s worth nothing and is a failure. Not because he tried to end the world or anything, but because his revenge plan just didn’t work.
I like to imagine that Ishizu found him one day, pitied him, and decided to let him stay at her house until he feels well enough to get an apartment. She tells him that everything in her house is just as much his as it is hers (to kill any desire to steal since it’s already his. Yes it would work), she makes him food whenever he has no energy to get up, she reasures him that he isn’t a failure just because this one revenge plot didn’t work out for him, and she comforts him.
Over time, Yami Bakura starts to feel bad. Not about hurting Yugi and the gang, but he does feel a little stupid for trying to end the world. The world that Ishizu lives in. This could lead him to trying to help Ishizu around the house to show her mild gratitude, giving her small gifts (usually a hair accessory), and attempting to cook for her. That usually ends in a disaster. A disaster that Yami Bakura expects to get yelled at for and maybe kicked out. To his surprise, that doesn’t happen. Ishizu just laughs at his misfortune with cooking and helps him clean up the mess.
I like to think that at that moment, they slowly begin to fall in love.
Of course I have other ideas for them, but this one has been eating away at me for a long time. It’s such a shame that this could only work as a slow burn longfic because I wanna write so bad.

I was wondering if you could help me settle a debate. I've been trying to find the panels where it states Zorc was split between the 7 items and having trouble, but someone I know tells me they don't exist. You seem to know it too so I was wondering where it was in the manga.
Zork's consciousness being split between the seven items is never outright stated but is implied in two places:
Pegasus states that all the items contain an "evil intelligence" at the end of Duelist Kingdom
In the manga version of Dungeon Dice Monsters, Yami Bakura says this:
Tumblr media
This line is pretty opaque, but between Pegasus's "evil intelligence" comments the fact that this is Yami Bakura we're talking about, the Greater Consciousness in question is presumed to be Zork.
The mechanism by which Zork works and exactly what all this means is pretty intentionally obfuscated, and neither Yami Bakura nor Pegasus are particularly reliable narrators. That's not even getting into the whole business with how Shadi and the child cult from DSoD get into this. But this is what we do have. Hope that helps.

Ep 44 Pt 2: Name Hunt
We start this half of the episode at the card game that is currently just kinda stalled. It’s more like a D+D session at this point, where everyone is separated, random enemies are appearing in random rooms, and their biggest issue is that they were balanced to work as a team, and as a solo fight they’re gonna freakin die.
Or Bjork will come back in the time it takes for the team to reassemble.
Tumblr media
Sorry his name isn’t Bjork, it’s Korn. Or...well it’s something from the 90′s. Zork. It was Zork. But with a c. Bjorc Necrophades.
So as Yami dumps on Bakura about how boring this game is for him, Bakura reminds him that because Pharaoh shoved his memory in a puzzle piece, Pharaoh is dumb as a sack of bricks. Which like, relatable.
Tumblr media
I STILL don’t quite get it.
I know that Seto kills Yami in the OG timeline, they have been saying that for 4 seasons. But if Yami had to put himself in that puzzle to put back Zorc...does this imply that the fight with Seto was to resurrect Zorc? that Seto was a pawn of Bakura even in the original timeline?
Wait is that it?
(read more under the cut)
Have I finally figured out the paradox that’s been bothering me all season, where before it looked like Yami died 2 separate ways in two separate timelines? I mean, while I am much better (not fully, hence the slow update schedule but am getting much better) Long covid for like an entire year removed so much of my memory, that I was able to play Undertale again like it was the first time. Which is incredible because it’s the most memed game and y’all, I forgot nearly every line that Sans said. Which I’m not gonna lie, kind of rocks. But also kind of difficult when I’m trying to remember the plot of this show.
Bro did offer to write the blog in my stead, but when he attempted to use Photoshop he could not figure out how to leave the text editor. Making these caps will one hundred percent crash my computer if he’s doing the driving. Photoshop crashes my computer about 4 times on a normal day, if you don’t know what you’re doing, Photoshop will seal you in a demon dimension before crashing your computer, and yet, still charge you 12 dollars a month. You cannot turn your back on photoshop, just like Zorc.
Anyway, back to the show:
Tumblr media
I mean that’s my personal gamble. I will always gamble Tristan on who’s gonna die. And him being Bakura right now is just...ooo ripe to die this season, yeah?
Bakura took a moment to try and remind Yami that this is all a simulation and all of these pieces on the board were in fact not real people, to which Yami reminded Bakura that he himself is a ghost in a box and is only loosely defined as a “real person” himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
👁👄👁
And then Karim, who’s name I had completely forgotten, so I’m glad the show reminded me, was like “Oh no! I’m dying!” PS he’s been “dying” for like 3 episodes, so I was very surprised he actually fully died.
Like Egypt Grandpa is going to outlast this stack of bricks down there, and that’s like a lot to take in. Modern Grandpa breaks his butt like constantly but Egyptian Grandpa is built like a truck.
Isis was very upset by this, and like I don’t blame her, look at the FEATURES on that man. True tragedy right there to lose that block of cheese right there and just be left with freakin Shada. Who, in case you forgot, has a motorcycle tattoo on his entire forehead. I too would be crying my eyes out, Isis, this is looking grim for you.
Tumblr media
It only just now as I was writing this cap realized that when Bakura was like “who would you bet is going to die first?” he wasn’t talking about Yami’s high school friends, but was in fact foreshadowing the truly tragic death of Karim, who I totally remembered the name of.
Anyway, it’s still gonna be Tristan because for real, Karim doesn’t count.
Tumblr media
Bit of a baby manger vibe to this shot, not gonna lie. Nice nativity we got going there. Baby jesus, Mary and Joseph, a shepherd, a wise man, and uh...Shadi. Shadi could be an Angel I guess, he isn’t technically alive. There. Print this out and put it above your grandma’s Christmas tree, instant nativity.
Speaking of the kids, Joey was really testing my gamble by walking headfirst into a trap that spits daggers into your feet.
Tumblr media
Inside of this maze is step by step the same as the story of the tomb we saw with the hot version of grandpa that opened this arc.
Tumblr media
Including this room, where Grandpa got betrayed by a very silly slingshot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This was the show spoon feeding us Yugi’s character growth, since he was just a barrel of nerves and sinew when we first met this boy. He is braver this season, I will give him that, but it feels like it’s more that he’s the only person who’s fully aware that none of this is real. Yugi is inside of his own mind puzzle. It’s literally the only place he’s got full control (ish).
At the end of this little walk across the fear pit that literally no one here had any problems with (like Tea walked across this narrow fear pit in 5 inch heels!) The little box that carried Pharaoh’s puzzle isn’t here, instead it’s a bunch of Egyptian hieroglyphs.
Tumblr media
Reminder that even Season Zero Yugi, who is the most pile of nerves Yugi, would have kicked your ass even without the puzzle. Like this is mostly my own interpretation, but without the puzzle......Yugi would have straight up stabbed that guy, right? Like straight up? Yugi is a menace to society. Sure, he was nervous about having to defend himself, but Yami wasn’t a Pharaoh yet, he was Yugi’s dark side, who was backed into corners so hard by people with literal whips and people with yoyo’s with spikes on the end, he pretty much always had to choose violence in order to survive Freshman year.
Like yes he walked across a bridge without fear. Makes sense, the bridge doesn’t have spike yoyo’s, fire shooting out, a guy holding your girlfriend hostage with a gun at a burger restaurant, and whatever capitalist nightmare Seto has come up with that month. But we can still call this bridge character development, as a treat.
Tumblr media
After Joey tricked the switch that opened the garage door to Yami’s secret name, the episode ended.
Tumblr media
can’t wait to see Tristan hold up some fingers and have the show convince me it’s a gun.
Anyway, here’s a link to read these from the start, which I keep giving you although I need to reread my own blog myself, haha.

Chapter 12! Woah can’t believe it. This is one of the chapters I finished early and I thought about it yesterday and decided to release it a day early!

Edit: forgot to mention Iris nebula is my oc
———————————————————
His day had been a long one. He went on a solo mission at a nearby casino, in hopes of being able to gather intel on the human trafficking business that seemed to go unnoticed by local law enforcement. But it had been a bust as it seemed no one was willing to talk, all he was able to gather was a name ‘Zogratis’ whatever the hell that meant, and Yami was ready to give up and go home. That was until he heard crying coming from an alleyway, now it could be one of two things, a shady piece of shit trying to mug him or a person in need of help. Either way he was willing to take that risk as his boss Julius always taught him to help people who can’t help themselves. He walked into the alley and looked around trying to find the source of the crying and that’s when his eyes landed on a blue haired girl, she looked no older than 21, she looked tired, malnourished, and beaten with some scratch marks adoring her face. At that very moment Yami knew what he was looking at.
An escapee.
Probably from an abuse relationship, or a human trafficking scheme, or both. But he had bigger things to worry about, he needed to get this girl somewhere safe.
“Hey kid, you good?” He asked, and obviously she wasn’t, but it is always better to ask.
The girl jumped from the voice and when her gaze landed on Yami, she immediately started crawling back against the wall shielding herself from the man, as if afraid he would strike her.
“P-Please d-don’t hurt me” The girl pleaded, the way she was acting did answer Yami’s question about her being in an abusive relationship.
“Hey kid, relax I ain’t gonna hurt you,” Yami told her, and to show he meant no harm, he got down to her level kneeling down. “I just want to know if you’re okay, you look like shit”
The girl continued to stare at him for another couple of minutes, her breathing was erratic but soon she did calm down enough to answer his question.
“N-No I’m not okay,” She started tearing up again. “I’m terrified, d-don’t let him find me”
Who‘him’ was for the moment wasn’t important, but making sure she was safe was. He looked down for a moment before deciding the next best step.
“Alright,” He got up, before looking back down at her. “I’m going to take you somewhere safe, can you get up?” He asked, the girl simply responded with a shake of her head signaling no. “Okay, take my hand I’ll protect you” He offered his hand, yet the girl was hesitant. She remembered the last time she took someone’s hand and now she wondered if she could trust someone ever again.
“Hey kid, I don’t know what he did to you. But I swear I won’t ever do that to you,” He told her sincerely. “I’ll treat you like a human”
The girl continued to stare at his hand contemplating taking it. Should she take another chance? Should she risk it again? She wasn’t sure, but the longer she looked into the man’s eyes the more she could tell he was being honest. His eyes were sincere with not a hint of malice behind them. The blue-haired girl took a deep breath before taking Yami's hand. Lifting her up they started walking.
“Hey kid,” Yami started. “What’s your name?” He asked since he hadn’t asked.
“M-My name?”
“Yeah,” He said, before realizing something. “My name is Yami Sukehiro, but all my friend’s call me Yami. it being my last name” He told her.
The girl looked down at her feet as she walked.
“He had given me a name” The girl hesitated more, but did she even want the name anymore? After everything that has happened.
“You don’t have to use that name anymore if you don’t want to anymore” Yami told her, and as she thought of it more she decided something.
“M-My name is Grey” She told the man.
“Grey?”
“Y-Yes, it’s part of my last name”
“Is that so, well Grey I guess we both go by our last names then” Yami said in a chuckle.
As the man chuckled a bit Grey could feel herself smile as well, this man, her true savior, made her feel safe. He had this aura around him, one that made her feel as if she had a guardian angel. As they continued to walk Yami pulled out his phone to call a cab, and once it came Yami helped Grey get inside.
“Oh great, it’s you,” Yami said to the driver in a sarcastic tone. “Out of all the driver’s Char had to send you”
“Come one I’m the best, and fastest driver here” Said the driver, who was none other than Iris Nebula, Charlotte's second apprentice and a getaway driver. The eighteen year old girl was a good getaway driver, yes. But only because of one thing. She liked to go fast.
“Alright Grey, you’re gonna want to buckle up,” Yami told Grey, as he himself started buckling up. “This one is a lunatic on the road”
“I-It’s can be that bad, right?” Grey asked, as she put her seatbelt on.
“Hold on tight bitches!” Iris put the pedal to the metal. As Nebula drove like a madman Grey was trying her best to not freak out, all the while Yami was yelling profanities at the driver.
Soon they arrived at what seemed to be a mansion of sorts.
“Alright, we’ve arrived at our destination” Iris said, getting out of the car followed by a pissed off Yami and a mortified Grey.
Once they entered the building Grey immediately noticed all the ‘interesting’ characters. A man with long hair who was very slim, almost as if he was malnourished. A woman with purple hair who seemed to be asleep at the moment, yet she was sitting up perfectly. And a beautiful woman with blond hair and a stoic face.
“Lady Charlotte!” Iris said as she saluted the blond woman.
“Iris, I told you not to salute me,” Charlotte said as she walked towards Yami and Grey. “Yami, it seems you got something or rather someone instead of the target” She said, all the while Grey could have sworn she saw the blonde woman blushing slightly.
“Well the mission was a bust,” Yami responded as he pulled out a cigarette and lit it. “But I was able to save her,” He told Charlotte. “I believe she could use some medical attention”
Charlotte looked at the blue haired girl and agreed, she was in terrible shape and needed much medical attention.
“I’ll take her to Owen,” Char assured Yami “but you should report to Julius, he’ll want to know about her”
“I know,” Yami then nudged Grey gently towards Charlotte. “Don’t worry prickly princess may look mean but she’s a sweetheart” that comment made char blush immensely.
“A-Alright let’s go” Charlotte almost yelled in a flushed manner, and though Grey was a bit hesitant the woman looked nice and seemed to mean no harm, so she trusted her and went to get cleaned up. Meanwhile Yami made his way to julius’ office.
“Julius?” Yami asked from outside the door.
“Come on in Yami” Julius responded from the other side. Once Yami had entered the room he saw Julius sitting at his desk.
“Mission was a bust”
“Is that so Yami?” Julius asked, he never seemed ashamed or mad at Yami or any of the agents when they couldn't successfully complete a mission. For he knows the stress they can induce, so he never holds anything against them. “Well did you at least get anything positive out of it, like some free drinks?” He joked, getting a chuckle out of Yami.
“Well I did save someone,” Yami told his boss, exhaling some smoke.
“Did you now?” Julius was now interested.
“This girl Char is currently tending to, she is by the looks of it, twenty one years old,” He took another drag from his cigarette. “I believe she escaped an abusive relationship, she has some bruises, malnourished, she looks like-”
“Hell?”
“Yes, it reminded me of…how my dad would treat me and my sister” Yami told Julius, he tried not to think back to the days before he stood up to his father. “I guess I looked at her and-”
“Saw yourself” Julius finished his sentence for him.
“Yeah, and I guess I wanted to protect her,” He sighed. “It’s dumb I know”
“I don’t think so Yami,” Julius told him. “You saw someone in need and helped them, if that isn’t something to be proud of then I don’t know what”
“You think so?”
“I know so,” He gave Yami a warm smile. “Though what do you plan on doing with the girl?”
“Hmm,” Yami thought for a second. “Protect her for one, but train her to be able to protect herself as well” He told Julius.
“I feel as if an and is coming up Yami,” Julius smiled. “What is that and?”
“And,” Yami started. “Give her a proper family to be apart of”

So - I do have a little bit of this written, and I’ll link to the document, but ehhhh I figured I’d get some ideas out here
If you want see another cool YGO x Utena AU (aka, the one that inspired me to write my own!) there's this concept!
Ahhh, I dunno… I like the concept of Utena Sword Duel in the Cool Dueling Arena in the Forest, But Also The Duel Monsters Are Here, and the story having both elements and beats from their respective source materials (the Duels are foretold and eventually the protagonist will have to duel End of the World in a bid to gain the power of world revolution; becoming the Shadow Game Heir and stopping the great and terrible evil from destroying the world) but logistically I had trouble making it all Work
Yugi is obviously our protagonist - our Utena. Yamiyu is the Rose Bride(groom) - our Anthy, and Atem is firmly in the role of Dios (Yes, this is a primarily Puzzle-based AU)
The Student Council are the Millennium Item wielders, but they really don’t correspond with anyone from Utena’s student council… Closest association I could get is Pegasus to Mikage but he wouldn’t be on the council so much as he’s a professor at this AU’s Ohtori Academy
Kaiba would be president (naturally), but he doesn’t really fit Touga to a T… if anything he’s a mix of Saionji and Touga. (I will listen to Nanibito mo Kataru Koto Nashi on repeat thinking about what those lyrics mean and SOBBING) But I imagine he does the same Suicidal Duel tactic/acting like the King who met Yugi in the past to shake him, and sort of gets sucked into the mind games of End of the World and phasing into his past life as Set (to a degree) once he gets the Rod back
I also love thinking about Mokuba as Nanami (give that boy a sword and a knife hehehe) and then he essentially takes over the Student Council while Kaiba goes on an Obsessive Depression Bender after losing to Yugi AGAIN. And I need Mokuba to uncover all the fucked up shit behind The Rose Bride and the Nature of the Duels please...
I like the idea that Kaiba’s on he Student Council despite not having a Millennium Item… I think by rights he should have the Rod, and the idea of it being Stolen would be a plot point in a chapter
(speaking of the little shit who stole the Rod) Having Malik as, like, all the motivations of the Black Rose Duelists but with Miki's motifs... just feels right to me. I also imagine the duel split into two parts - one with him and the other with both him and Yami Malik (as another Rose Bride??) I was just stuck on which monster/spell cards to associate with his duel. I had it in my mind that he'd use a combo of Helpoemer and the Mystical Space Typhoon (Spira Mirabilis plays in the BG) but ehhhhhhh
Isis in a mostly Juri-based role... with the themes of Finality, Fate Set in Stone, No Such Thing As Miracles... idk, it wasn't really vibing in my brain, and I was having trouble placing her motives clearly. But I like the idea of her in the Student Council and her suddenly trying to get a handle on the situation with Malik (also I struggled figuring out which monster/spell card to associate with her hrmmm... in my document it's Spiria but EHHHH)
... I don't even know where to even put Shadi hhhhh maybe as a Shadow Player??? idk idk
and then obviously there's the Bakurae, and I can't really do them justice ??? because Ryou is on the Student Council and is the unwitting duelist in a Miki-aligned role, while Yami Bakura is another Rose Bride scheming on the sidelines, puppeteering Ryou with Dark Necrofear and Dark Sanctuary (until Ryou fights back with Change of Heart), and hastening the duels to the final duel for Revolution
TKB/Zorc is Akio/End of the World. Because of course he is. I do refer to him in my documents as The Man In Red, while Atem (Dios) is wearing mostly whites and royal purples.
AS FOR ANZU, JONOUCHI, AND HONDA... they have all been relegated to some aspect of Wakaba - but Jonouchi is especially The Wakaba (the one that attempts to punch out Kaiba and accidentally gets into a fistfight with Yugi) Honestly, if I had the time, I'd like to see all of them becoming Black Rose Duelists and having Yugi absolutely struggle with these duels because "no!!! these are my friends!!!" but Yamiyu is here like "aibou, you have to draw your sword!!!"
Anyway, that's where most of my thoughts were - and then there's the matter of the themes of 'princes' and 'witches' and trying to make those same motifs work with 'kings' and 'thieves' and I just got really tired trying to figure it out
But if you're interested in what I have written for this, you're welcome to check it out here: [Dust and Gold]

Yami AU: I got thinking about the other Millennium Item holders and wondered how Pegasus is doing in this AU. He’s probably still the same but I guess with Kaiba not getting mind crush and existing hologram technology, he has no reason to go after KaibaCorp or Izuku.
Still I could see Shadi showing up to ‘test’ Izuku/Yami or Bakura being a gen ed student since they are part of season 0/early manga Yugioh.
Oh maybe Bakura was also outside with Shinsou cause his ‘ring’ seem to pull him towards 1-A and he and Izuku keep ‘running into’ each other after that.
No idea when they’d run into Marik or Ishizu but I can just imagine that after meeting Ishizu, they gets Nighteye flashbacks and goes ‘not this again.’
Side note: I feel like Salaam would somehow get involved with this much much later. Maybe looking into Shadi or investigating Marik.
Shadi and Bakura are the likeliest to appear. I think Pegasus has reason to be after the puzzle but also he's very much Duelist so

Amon Garam is underrated tbh
(Warning: Spoilers for Yugioh GX)
Tumblr media
When talking about GX characters I feel like a lot of people overlook Amon Garam/Adrian Gecko. He is probably one of my favorite characters.
Look, I get it, he's a piece of crap and deserved to be wiped out by Yubel/Johan. But I like what he represents in the story and how different he is from the rest of the main cast.
He's introduced as a jovial and sort of eccentric ace duelist in S3. Like a personal rival to Manjoume/Chazz, same background (rich boy) but somewhat...better (less impulsive, more clever, overall better duelist) which is exposed on their sky duel.
Tumblr media
And then he starts to change and become colder, more ruthless, smug and manipulative as S3 goes on, especially after partnering with Yubel. He sacrifices the woman he loves in order to attain Exodia's power without any second thoughts and he really seems to embrace his new role as King.
The scene where he's riding Exodia and refuses to finish the recently de-SKized Judai/Jaden is quite telling. He's drunk on power. He gambled and got a hell of a pay. And unlike Judai, who became SK after a hell of a traumatic event or Saio/Sartotius who was possesed by the Light of Destruction, Amon did it all consciously and out of his own will. No demonic possession, no LoD, no ancient millenary item possesion, nothing. Just an extremely ambitious bastard. In a way, he reminds me of Seto Kaiba in the early Yugioh manga chapters, before he got Mind Crushed by Yami.
Tumblr media
Eventually, Yubel possessing Johan snaps him back to reality by kicking his ass and wiping him out. Right before dying he 1) reveals that actually he wanted to become King to the typical "making the world a better place" shtick and 2) shows regret for killing Echo.
While number 1 seems to come out of nowhere and feels like a lame attempt to somewhat redeem him, I think it makes him even more tragic. I think of Amon and he reminds me of complex antihero "ends justify the means" characters like Canute from Vinland Saga and Lelouch Lamperouge from Code Geass.
(YES I just compared Yugioh with Vinland and Geass)
I feel like, if Yugioh broadened its scope to maybe a more mature setting, characters like Amon could probably be rewritten in a more neutral or even sympathetic light. And yet, because GX is deeply inside a shonen anime focused on promoting a card game, such risks couldn't be taken.
Tumblr media
And don't get me wrong, I think Amon was very well handed. He feels like an inverse of Axel O'Brien. While Axel starts as a stoic, cold and aloof duelist loyal to the shady Professor Cobra, Amon gets introduced as a charming and skilled guy who seems to oppose Cobra's schemes (after all, that means he's a good guy, right?) And yet, Axel ends up warming up to the main cast and even being (along with Jim) the one who saves Judai, while Amon ends up going the dark route. The fact they both come from Academies located on opposite cardinal points (Amon from east, Axel from west) might not be a mere coincidence.
To top it off, I just love how Amon and Axel end up in such different spots at the series finale.
Axel? With the main cast, being one more of them, eating, drinking, cracking a few jokes, enjoying their company. He's part of the gang despite arriving later. Like Johan (and my boy Jim)
Tumblr media
Amon? Who the hell knows. And who the hell cares. Dead. Forgotten. Vanished into nothing. Sentenced to life in the Shadow Realm. And the best part is that, aside from his aparition on the "missing student cards" on S3 ending, nobody brings him up at all. They dislike him so much that for what they know he may be being devored by harpies or tortured in some dungeon in the Dark World, it's all the same for the gang. They have better things to think about than some power drunk greedy ambitious asshole who killed the woman he loved for nothing.
Axel won friends, which is why he was given a second chance in S4. Amon lost it all, which is why he's one of the few GX characaters that died permanently. Maybe it was Shin Yoshida's intention to send a message in favor of personal bonds and connections. Maybe he forgot about Amon.
But no matter what, Amon is probably one of the GX characters that caught my attention the most.

BEST YGO GIRL: FINAL ROUND
Yuzu Hiragi
The entire show would not work if the cast wasn't obsessed with her, and they're all right to stan her, literally gets Sora and Serena to defect from Academia with her sheer charisma, beat Masumi at their gay little rivalry, Yugo spends a few days with her and is ready to die for her, Yuya is simply just the loudest about adoring her And why not? She is so clever and determined, doing the most work out of anyone to figure out the myth plot. Actively trains to keep up with the rest of cast. Even when the universe is conspiring against her and trying to keep her down, she fucking headbutts Roger and tells him off or manifests to help save the world in the ultimate girlboss team-up that was the Arc V finale. Truly any dimension without her is worth upending.
The mysterious magical bracelet that isekai's her to different worlds, the Can-Do attitude, the cool poses (fusion summoning), the ADORABLE character design, AND she was 1/4 of a world-saving hero in the past?? If it weren't for the meddling writers, she would have been the main character
yuzu is everything. literally the plot of arc v hinges on the fact everyone who meets her become just as obsessed with her. and they are totally right to do so

The struggle is real for Yugioh fans who read the Manga before watching the anime.
"Joey Wheeler" wtfrick its Jonouchi why is he BLOND?
If they were trying to localize the names to sound more familiar to English speakers then I'm sorry Tea sounds just as weird as Anzu I've never met a Tea in my LIFE
Bakura is British? British!? You literally kept his original Japanese name why is he British?
No you can NOT drive to California you live in JAPAN AKA AN ISLAND ON THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE OCEAN
Honestly I don't know if Rishid or Odion is a better name so like whatever
*Looks at Rebecca, Dartz, and everyone from the Grand Prix* W H O M S T
Also on the subject of Rebecca WHY IS THE SMALL GIRL SHIPPED WITH YUGI she's like half a decade younger she's literally MOKUBA'S age for crying out loud ship them instead
And on the subject of Mokuba he deserves more respect and it seems like they were trying to give him that and failed
Honestly Duke/Otogi is fine he's cool and deserves more presence good on ya anime
WHERE ARE THE SHADOW GAMES I WANT THE EXPLODING TABLE HOCKEY
Shadi my boy literally none of what you do makes sense anymore please explain
Okay seriously Kaiba I can KINDA get you not believing in magic in the Manga it's a stretch but I can see it. But in the anime you straight up PSYCHIC BOND WITH A DRAGON AND FIGHT THE RULER OF ATLANTIS AND ARE PRESENT FOR THE FREAKING FINAL DUEL ARE YOU BLIND
Why the heck do you call the Pharoah "Yami" where did that come from
Wait where did the movies come from why and how are they canon
HONDA'S/TRISTAN'S VOICE GOODNESS
Mai why is your last name a pun now
PEGASUS WHY IS YOUR NAME DIFFERENT YOU LITERALLY ALREADY ARE AMERICAN THE DUB DIDN'T NEED TO CHANGE ANYTHING
Noah was cool too though gave the Kaiba boys more depth I'm down.
Wait so YUGI gets to keep his name but his equally Japanese Grandfather *doesn't*???
What the heck did they do to Ryuzaki like Haga's a scumbag so Weevil's role in the anime fit perfectly but Ryuzaki actually seemed kinda cool why is Rex so stupid?
I still kinda want to slap Ishizu for being so fatalistic so they got that part right at least.

I don't have anything specific in mind but what about some magna swing headcanons/short story with the other back bulls?
Of course! I'm going to go with some headcannons in this case.
Magna's down time with the Black Bulls:
- While he is definitely one of the first one awake for the day, I don't think the rest of the group sees him until breakfast has already started
- That is definitely because of his hair and the amount of work it takes to style it up the way he does
- Of course, the Black Bulls know that's the reason why and will tease him over it. Especially Luck and Vanessa.
- If it's Luck doing the teasing it'll definitely end up becoming a fight at which point Yami well either threaten to kill them or take it outside. (They'll probably take it outside anyway)
- If it's Vanessa doing the teasing, I think he'll get flustered and go on about how there's nothing wrong with having a certain look. That it's manly!
- If it's a really calm and peaceful day he's going to take advantage of it either by relaxing under a nice shady tree for a bit or by hanging out with whoever is at the base at that given time. Which usually ends up with him sparring with Luck or Asta.
- I think he definitely drinks with Vanessa depending on the night. Not enough to get hammered but to relax and enjoy himself.
- He hates being cooped up inside on rainy days. But he doesn't want to set Yami off by fighting inside, so he tries to burn the excess energy by helping out his squad mates with whatever they are working on.
- On that note, I can totally picture Charmy kicking him out of the kitchen due to burning her precious food too much. He doesn't do it on purpose he just thinks his magic will speed things along, and it doesn't quite work out the way he plans.
- Bonus Headcannon: I think Grey is not quite as shy when she drinks and so when she's tipsy she trys to talk Magna into letting her dye his hair. Which the rest of the group decides to join in on and help her get him to say yes but so far he has not.
Enjoy!

If you're still doing the Unusual Headcanons Ask Game, here's a few! :D
🐅 for Ishizu 🐅 and 💖 for Yami Bakura 🕊️ for Kotsuzuka ✨ for Haga
Hello 🩷
Ishizu 🐅: this girl is terrified of vermin and bugs. Like it's not even a regular fear, but it borders on being something that makes her completely unable to function whenever she sees so much as a housefly.
Yami Bakura 🐅: this dude loves raw meat. He loves it so much that Ryou had to put restrictions on what he could eat (Yukhoe, tataki, carpaccio, etc), and what he couldn't (chicken, freshly bought meat, pork, etc).
Yami Bakura 💖: he'd primarily date people who treat him like he's actually a human person. Characters that come to mind are Ghost, Ishizu, Ryou (post duelist Kingdom), Dark Necrofear, and Tragoedia.
Ghost 🕊️: his friends included Takaido, Satake, Ryou, Yami Bakura, Espa Roba, Ryuzaki and Haga. Jonouchi and the gang are ok, but not close enough to be friends. Bandit Keith is public enemy #1.
Haga ✨: he and Ryuzaki met at an earlier tournament and vowed to be life long lovers rivals. He also only became a shady freak because his fan base thought it was funny and he wanted to entertain them.
Thank you for the ask 🩷
