Okay, let’s mix things up a little as for Lucci and Jabra. It’s always been a zookeeper but let’s say that this time, you’re just someone who visits the zoo like it’s a nice place when there’s not too many obnoxious loud people around

Honestly your favorite area is the giraffe enclosure as no one really goes there and the giraffe in the enclosure is rather friendly like let’s say that Kaku’s enclosure has like a little canopy thing so you can go up high into the tree and watch the giraffe from high up

The canopy area is open a lot of the time so he’s able to stick his head in occasionally like he let you pet his head at one point and returned the petting with a lick from his tongue to your hand

You really felt like you were developing a bond with this giraffe to the point where some part almost considered this zoo animal like a friend, you would even talk to him occasionally when you were stressed as talking to a giraffe is better than talking to no one

If only you knew though that Kaku was actually listening to you and understanding you…

During one of your visits though, you would find that Kaku didn’t seem to be in his enclosure like he wasn’t anywhere that you could see him even when you leaned over the railing of the canopy area

Leaning over the canopy railing proved to be a bad idea as you were quickly pulled back by a man with a long square nose, he had a serious look on his face as he told you that you could have gotten hurt so you shouldn’t do that

You apologized thinking he was a zookeeper and his expression quickly softened as he introduced himself as Kaku, you thought it was pretty funny how he had the same name as the giraffe which he laughed off like it was a humorous coincidence

He told you that the giraffe was probably either sleeping or getting some medical attention in some other part of the zoo so you shouldn’t worry and the two of you could hang out for a while if you wanted

You accepted and Kaku turned out to be pretty nice, he was fun to talk to and he made you laugh quite a bit. The two of you hit it off pretty well but when the day started to end, you parted ways before you could get his phone number to stay in contact with him

That wasn’t your final meeting with Kaku though as whenever you returned to the zoo and Giraffe Kaku wouldn’t be in his exhibit then Human Kaku would appear to spend the day with you

You would have long conversations about all sorts of things but he never really told you things about himself and if he did then they were always lacking details but you never minded as maybe he just didn’t wanna talk about himself

Eventually Kaku started asking you out on dates outside of the zoo, it would never be anything too special as you would go for a walk or to the park but it was a nice time regardless and you enjoyed yourself

He even gave you his phone number on the same day that a phone was reported as missing by the zookeepers and the two of you would keep in contact that way although he only responded early in the morning or late at night with very few exceptions

It was a little weird but it wasn’t too bad…

During one of your dates with Kaku though is when it happened as when you were saying your goodbyes, he suddenly leaned in and gave you a big bite right on your shoulder which of course caused you to scream and push him away as he broke the skin

You rushed off before he could say anything and went straight to the hospital, they fixed you up and you filed a police report but nothing ever came of it as no one could find him anywhere like he had no known address or anything like that. It was like he didn’t even exist

Occasionally you got a text from Kaku here and there but you quickly blocked his number and just tried to continue with life even if it seemed like you were getting taller as the days went by and did you always have that mole? Oh! And there’s a new one!

Going to the doctor again proved to be no help at all as they had no clue what was wrong with you even after keeping you in medical observation for a day. Eventually they chalked it up to all being in your head

But you knew that it wasn’t, you were getting taller and your neck appeared to be getting longer as well. It was scary and you decided that the only way to find out about this was to seek out Kaku and demand answers

You tried to look for him everywhere that you could but you couldn’t find him however when you were in secluded area, it suddenly happened as everything started to hurt like your body was changing rapidly and you weren’t able to stop it

Your limbs got longer, your hands became hooves, your neck stretched out to an impossible length as your face stretched into a snout, a tail ripped through the back of your pants

You couldn’t even bring yourself to scream for help as the entire thing was so painful that all you could do was just try to bite back the screams from this painful transformation that your body was going through

Soon enough, the pain stopped and you were finally free to just breathe but the ground was so much higher up than it had been and your ripped clothes were on the ground. There was no more simple way to say it other than that you had turned into a giraffe

Upon leaving the secluded area, immediately people started freaking out as “Holy shit, a giraffe escaped the zoo!!” and despite your attempts to say something all that came out were giraffe noises

Animal control was called and you got a fluffy dart in you that put you right to sleep, it was all over the news about how a mysterious giraffe had just appeared in town and no one could figure out where it came from as it wasn’t Giraffe Kaku

When you started to recover from the tranquilizer, you’d find yourself in the enclosure with Giraffe Kaku. He’d be nuzzling you and welcoming you to your new home the second that he noticed that you were awake, he’d even be talking too albeit in Giraffe

But as you try to explain that you aren’t a giraffe, you notice that his voice sounds so similar to Human Kaku like it’s almost unnerving how similar it sounds to it but when you notice his vocal mannerisms. You just gotta ask “Are you the same Kaku that bit me?”

And when he confirms, he’ll tell you about animal shifters and how he’s one. He came to enjoy your presence when you visited and he decided that he wanted you as his mate to have and to hold til death do you part

You can try to refuse him but that’s when he’d get serious and tell you that it’s not like you can refuse as his bite claimed you as his, you can tell him that Giraffe’s don’t bite and claim but he’ll simply say that animal shifters are different

He’ll still take you on dates and things if you want as he wants to make you feel like the most special girl in the world to him but until you learn to behave, you’re going absolutely nowhere that isn’t the enclosure

Kaku might be a gentleman as well but you might find that some nights, he gets just a bit too affectionate with you like he’s trying to coax you into something and when you finally ask about it then he’ll tell you that he wants to put his calf in you and start a family

You can try to fight and say no but Kaku although he won’t get violent will probably eventually manipulate you into saying yes in all honesty resulting in a pregnant giraffe inside of the enclosure

Kaku’s gonna take good care of you and he’ll make sure that your pregnancy goes smoothly as he’ll sneak out of the enclosure at night to get you some good branches from the local park or even if you’ve been really good get you some of your favorite snack

Being with him isn’t too much of a nightmare especially when you learn that Lucci the Leopard and Jabra the Wolf have taken mates of their own, you’re even a bit glad that you aren’t their mate

But when you’re stuck in a pen with a hay flooring by the zookeepers so you can safely give birth to your calf, you honestly wish that you had never even come to this zoo in the first place and just stayed home

You cursed, clutching the ringing transponder snail in your hands, holding it down to your best ability to not let any of the sound get out.

How in hell did you even find yourself in this situation?!

This was your first solo mission and somehow, some way, you ended up onboard the Strawhats ship. Literally the enemy of the government? And your whole group! You already knew for a fact that Rob Lucci would be on your ass for one, not picking up immediately and two, being so reckless that you ended up being a ‘guest’ on the agency your training for worst enemy!

Dread soon washed over you as you heard a knock on the door..

You were in the storage room, luckily making them buy an excuse that you lost something in there..

This was the first time in weeks those god forsaken pirates have let you out of their sight so you were trying to savor you time as much as you could.

A more persistent knock on the wooden door of the storage room on the ship caught you to zone back into this situation. Biting your lip, goosebumps slowly arose on your arms from that deep, masculine voice with a undertone of something you couldn’t comprehend that spoke from outside the room.

“Hey Y/N?..you’ve been in their for a while. What are You getting anyway? Do you need my help to come find it..?” The door knob slightly jiggled, causing you stiffen and stuff the still dinging transponder snail under whatever you could find.

“..Why the hell is the door locked Y/N? Open it!.. and what’s that ringing noise in there..?..!”

Zoro Said, his voice now laced with utter annoyance. You took a deep breath, glancing around the room for a second to figure out how you could calm this green haired swordsman down.

Putting on the sweetest voice you could manage, you now locked your eyes on the wooden door before you.

“Oh no zoro im fine I swear! It’s just the thing I lost is uh..personal, yeah!”

You said, nodding right yourself in hopes he would take your lousy excuse for an excuse and go back to the crew. There was a pause, a pause that made you swear you could just feel his eyes boring into that wooden door, right where you were currently.

“Okay..just hurry up alright? Sanji Said dinner is almost ready..”

His voice sounded more calmer but a little like a grumble. You sighed in relief and nodded, even though you knew he couldn’t see you.

“Right..I’ll be there in a few.”

And with that, his footsteps slowly echoed away through the deck. Letting out a soft sigh in relief, you paused for a moment yourself. Taking notice of your surroundings. The chest nut wooden doors and walls..the random items and tools in piles of boxes..

With trembling hands, you slowly picked up the line on the transponder snail to be met with a chilling cold, calm and almost venomous voice. Shivers ran down your spine as you could already tell you had awoken the strangely possessive and scary side of the CP9 crew you knew.

You could already tell he was dissatisfied and maybe even scowling..

“Is that Y/N?? She’s okay?”

Kalifa’s worried voice made Rob Lucci sigh loudly.

“Yes. They’re on the call right now but they haven’t spoken yet..”

“Y/N! Where have you been?! We’ve been so worried! You’re not even an official member and you just-”

“Kalifa, calm down. I’m sure they have a good explanation to all of this nonsense..right?”

A gruff voice then came from the snail and couldn’t help but groan. That was Jabra and knowing him, he was probably pissed as well but didn’t want to say it.

“Uh well, I’ve been um..”

How were you going to tell them you’ve been hanging out with their worst enemies?! The ones that got in the way of their job and took them and the world government on?!

“It’s just I may have gotten stranded. On a island but now I’m staying with some nice..people who offered to take me home! Where are you guys currently so I can tell them exactly..?”

You said, trying to change the topic. You wished you had the balls to tell the crew the location to drop you off..

“Didn’t we already tell you? You really have a bad memory Y/N, you know that?”

Kaku’s voice echoed on the transponder snail and your heart did a flip. Were they all there just to lecture you?!

But to set stuff aside, they told you the location and gave a very vicious warning to hurry back soon and to not let it happen again. Most of the conversation you nodded and gave an occasional ‘mhm!’ to not risk any more anger.

After you hung up, or rather after they hung up on you, you let out a breath you didn’t even know you were holding.

Looking around for a thing that would be the object you quote on quote ‘lost’ you found a random notepad. Taking a deep breath, you opened the storage room door, letting the afternoon breeze hit you.

Feeling at peace for a moment you closed your eyes and shut the door, only to be met by feminine and soft like hands springing from the ground and trapping you in a tight, tight embrace.

Your body tingled as the sensation of hands sprouting from the ground, one could only mean one thing, it was Robin doing it and two, you had been caught in the clutches of one of the smartest straw hats on board and you had to tell her what you were doing in there and why.

Letting out a nervous chuckle, you turned to the black hair woman only a few feet from you.

“O-Oh hey Robin! You caught me off guard there heh..”

She chuckled softly, her voice smooth and almost calming. Just by the look in her eye, you could tell she was calculating in her mind. Studying and observing you..just like she always did.

“Well I’m sorry..I didn’t mean to scare you there..I just got a little carried away since you were in that storage room…looking for something was it?..did you find it?..”

Her voice now laced with suspicion, she locked her deep blue eyes into yours, an almost challenging stare.

“Oh yeah..! It was an notepad..I just love keep track of things you know..?”

She let out a relaxed hum as an understanding and you held back the urge to sigh heavily in relief. She would probably take a hint on just that..

Since Robin was so clever and observant..she had no problem with finding out your true intentions..and telling the others your true intentions..

You knew that by dealing with the consequences.

Dinner and the rest of the day went on as usual ever since you got here, everyone in the crew keeping a sharp eye on you and everything you did. Luffy butting in on almost every conversation to tell or show you something stupid. Sanji insisting you have more food and giving you seconds even though you didn’t want any and not letting you take even a step out of the mess hall until you cleared your plate. Franky and Usopp taking every chance they got to try and make you laugh or show you their newest inventions. And of course, Zoro repeatedly pouring you more sake when your cup was only half full.

Of course from all that time spending and sake, you felt tired and most importantly, buzzed from all that sake Zoro had been giving to you. Feeling like you needed to let things out for once you took out that notepad from the storage room you found.

Soon, you began to scribble away everything. How you felt about the strawhats, that you were a trainee in CP9 and how you wish everyone would calm down. Soon, you had multiple pages filled with your feelings and you had to admit, it felt good to let everything out!

Setting the notepad down on your bed the cabin you yawned with a stretch. Why on earth do you feel so sleepy all of a sudden?..you definitely have been drinking too much sake with Zoro..

Laying down, you slowly pulled your cover up and stared at the ceiling..fluttering your eyes closed to sleep at last..

When you woke up, the sound of chains jangling filled your ears. Wait a minute..

Chains..?

Looking around it seemed like you were in captains quarters..aka luffy’s cabin, but why..?

Dread and fear now consumed your mind and body as you tried to at least sit up but failed. These chains were tight around your wrists and legs, causing almost no hope for escape.

What the hell did you even do this time?!

Rattling your brain for answers you finally came to a conclusion…

The notepad…

Someone must’ve read it and told everyone..you started to look around the dark lit room with only the moon shining through the window. Cold sweat dripped from your forehead as you then felt the presence of at least two people..

A gentle hand pushed you down on the bed you were laying in as a familiar voice filled the room.

“So, you were working for CP9 huh?”

You gulped..

“Don’t worry! We’re not mad hah!..why would we? You’re never going back there anyways!”

Before you could even respond to that you felt a straw hat being placed on your face..

A voice then smooth as chocolate and almost calming then whispered to you, very, very close to your ear like it was trapping you.

“We’ve always had our suspicions all along about your little Mission anyway, but now you’ve made it so easy..but dont worry your little head off..we’ll take good care of you as long as your nice from now on..”

Jabara x GN Reader Prompt: I want to play a game... SFW HORROR - YANDERE THEMES BE WARNED Word count: 834

The tangy taste of copper flooded your senses as your eyes fluttered open, everything ached and your body was screaming at you as you groaned. Your vision was blurry as you blinked a few times and mumbled, sitting up as best as you could when everything was hurting, with your head throbbing. 

As you slowly came to you noticed you were in a dark room, with cold concrete walls and floors, you heard the sound of metal dragging on the floor, a heaviness around your wrists. You saw thick shackles attached to your wrists and your eyes opened wide despite the headache that was screaming at you.

“W-where am I?” you asked the empty room, the candles attached to the wall flickered in response as you stood up.

The weight of the metal connecting your limbs to the wall stopped your exploration of your confined space. You felt sick to your stomach as the feel of bile rose and you started to panic. One minute you were outside, on your way back from the market and now you woke up here wherever here was.

A heavy thud brought you out of your panicked thoughts as your eyes darted to the door, the thick metal creaked, screaming and groaning and agitating your head to the point you thought you could black out from the searing pain, you brought your hand to your head, a desperate and pitiful attempt to help ease the agony.

“Glad to see you awake!” The man with long black hair dressed in a black suit said, a wicked grin on his face as he slammed the door shut, there was a sickening finality to the sound as it rattled the room.

“Where am I?” You repeated someone to hopefully answer you this time.

“Oh Babe, can’t tell you that now can I? Government stuff.” Jabara tapped his nose and gave you a wink, his wolf-like grin stretching and bearing his teeth.

“What does the government want with me?” You asked, you could have laughed you hadn’t so much as returned a book late, what did this guy, what did the world government want with someone like you?

“You didn’t do anything, it’s who ya know, who ya helped think real hard about it doll.” He said and walked towards you, his hands in his pockets as he looked you over.

You stared at him, confusion clear as day on your face as you watched him, you tried to think trying to puck at your poor hurting head to file through memories, what did he mean? The thinking process caused the ache to sting more than you thought possible.

“Can you just tell me?” You said with an exasperated sigh.

He laughed and walked closer to you, you didn’t see him remove his hands from his pockets before you felt his hand in your hair, gripping tight at the matted strands, blood caked in from where someone had hit you over the head. You cried out and hands moved to the one pulling at you, trying to make him stop.

“Now, now, now behave or I’ll really have to get rough, sweetheart.” He said, showing off his smirk and shaking you with the grasp on your hair before he knocked you over, you winced and landed painfully on the cold floor.

He crouched down and tilted his head to the side, once again looking wolfish, he was playing with you, you felt like his prey and had no idea why but that was the feeling that washed over you as you gasped, the fall having knocked the wind out of you.

“Since you hit your pretty little head maybe I do have to remind you what you did, do you remember those pirates you encountered?” Jabara asked, amusement in his tone when the flash of recollection crossed your face and he knew he had you now.

“So, you're going to tell me everything you know about them, where they’re headed, what they were doing on your island, and why, oh why, you were helping them.” Jabara pulled you to sit using the chain on your wrist and forced your chin up, holding it between his fingers as he stared into your teary eyes.

“Something tells me you ain’t going to tell me straight… well babe, that’s fine because I love games… and I never lose..” You whimpered when the grip on your face tightened.

You watched as he transformed, as he changed before your eyes from a man into a werewolf, he was a zoan you realized and that explained why you felt so small and weak before he’d even done anything, the wolf inside him gave off an aura before you’d witnessed the reveal.

“Right, I wanna play a game with you, for every wrong answer I’m going to make you scream.” He said with a chuckle “And for every right answer? Well, this is what I call a win-win situation, I’m gonna make you scream for me in another way….”

Life had taken many turns that you hadn’t been prepared for. 

It started with more tame things such as your parents throwing you out when you dropped out of college and the absolutely unhinged shit customers put you through at work. Then you went and got yourself sent to a whole different world, as one does, and after that your life appeared to be speedrunning batshit insane events.

This ultimately culminated in your current situation: Being abducted and forcibly married to one of the many people who had become obsessed with you since entering this bizarre world.

Waves crashed against the ship from outside, lightly jostling you and everyone else on board. Kaku’s arms instinctively tightened around you. The small bed you were both crammed into left no room for personal space, every inch of your body was squeezed against his so as to prevent either of you from falling off the bed at the slightest movement of the ship.

The soft fabric of his nightshirt pressed into your face, likely leaving an imprint in its wake. The steady rise and fall of his chest stuttered slightly from the disturbance of the particularly large wave hitting seconds before, but it evened out again. He’s such a light sleeper that you’re honestly surprised that wasn’t enough to wake him.

Quiet grumbling could be heard behind you as one of the other people you were bunking with complained about how rough the sea was. You could understand why she would be irritated by this. Her morning sickness had been bad enough already, the motion of the ship rocking as much as it was definitely didn’t help.

This particular situation was hardly anything new for you. Ever since Kaku had “eloped” with you after you failed to fight him off at Enies Lobby thanks to your clammy hands dropping your impact dial, you’d been on the run. It made sense, you suppose. You were a wanted pirate after taking part in the attack on Enies Lobby, and he was a former CP9 agent who not only ran but was also being blamed for the situation. It was rare for you two to stay on an island for more than a few weeks. If you stayed any longer you ran the risk of being tracked down by other assassins.

While Kaku’s distinct features made hiding a little more difficult than it needed to be, you lucked out by not having a photograph on your bounty poster. No one had been able to get a picture of you, so they had to settle for a drawing instead. It wasn’t very accurate, though you had to admit it looked much better than Sanji’s. You damn near pissed yourself from how hard you’d laughed after seeing his.

Kaku was outwardly optimistic about your circumstances, assuring you that the manhunt would calm down as the years went by. You’re not sure if he actually believed that or if he was just saying as much to try and comfort you. That was admittedly something he was good at. Lord knows he’d needed to do this more than a few times in your time together.

At first you had resented that tendency of his because he had been the primary cause of your stress. The audacity of him to try and get you to calm down after kidnapping you made you want to scream. Or when he would wildly misconstrue why you were upset. Like the time he thought you were having “pre-wedding jitters” because you’d been fighting him tooth and nail on the way to an extremely shady chapel, and didn’t ONCE consider that maybe you just didn’t want to marry him.

Your kicking and screaming had done nothing to stop it. The officiant didn’t care about your willingness, and Kaku was delusional enough to excuse your behavior as just being nerves or whatever. He’d gotten what he wanted, insisting that he wanted to “do this right”, and now he was your husband whether you liked it or not.

As time went on, your disdain for him was becoming less and less, and you didn’t know how to feel about it.

Sure, at first it was easy to dig your heels in and resist. The Straw Hats would be here any second to save you, you were sure of it. But they never showed. You tried to rationalize it. They didn’t know where you were. With Robin they knew exactly where she went and how to get there, it was easy to chase after her. With you, you had up and vanished without a trace. You’re not even sure they had enough to go off of to know that you’re with Kaku.

Jealousy was an ugly emotion, but that didn’t keep it from brewing within you. You hadn’t seen so much as a hint of the Straw Hats, and that led to you questioning if they were even trying to find you. Were you just deadweight that they were glad to be rid of? You tried to tell yourself that wasn’t true, but it became harder to convince yourself of that as you saw reports of the Straw Hats gaining new members.

Had they replaced you? That easily?

Surprisingly, Kaku had been the one to assure you that likely wasn’t the case. He pointed out how hard they fought to get you back when you were still in Water 7. While he definitely wasn’t a fan of theirs by any means, even he could admit that they cared for you. It was… confusing to hear him of all people defend the Straw Hats. 

The real tipping point came after you saw the paper announcing Ace’s death. That broke you.

For a solid month after that, you were inconsolable. There was nothing that anyone could do or say to ease the pain. After the crying had gone from a constant to only happening in random bursts, you had fallen into a deep depression. You wondered if there was something that you could have done to prevent this. Would you have been able to save Ace if you’d been there? The idea that his death was avoidable made you feel sick to your stomach.

All throughout this depressive episode, Kaku had been nothing but kind and patient. He’d been a shoulder to cry on, someone to ramble to about your time spent with Ace in Alabasta and how he was like the brother you never had. Kaku didn’t once get irritated with you over being upset, and he never criticized you for being useless when you were too depressed to get out of bed in the morning. It made him very hard to hate.

Then one night he brought home a kitten he’d found at the construction site he was working on temporarily, one of his many odd jobs he’d picked up. The poor thing was underweight and so filthy that you couldn’t even tell what color it was supposed to be. A rather lengthy bath in the sink had revealed him to be orange, which reminded you of Ace and made you cry again.

Kaku had encouraged you to keep him saying that having the little guy around might help you to feel better, and you saw no reason to argue. You’d always wanted a cat. The kitten was a total sweetheart. Very mischievous and dumb as a brick in true orange cat fashion, but undeniably loving. The idea to name him Ace came to you easily.

Having cat Ace around did wind up being a turning point in your mood. You couldn’t sulk in bed all day when a tiny kitten was raising hell in your room and demanding attention. It was nice having something to take care of.

Ace was presently snuggled up in the crook of your neck, thoroughly worn out from Ellie playing with him for hours on end during the day. Ellie was the daughter of the couple you were sharing a cabin with. The six year old had been ecstatic to see she was rooming with a kitty and had all but begged you to play with him, which you were fine with. Her mother, Clara, had simply been grateful to have her daughter occupied while she struggled with a combination of morning and motion sickness.

Due to both you and Kaku having a wanted status, you typically chose to stay in the cabin of whatever passenger ship you happened to be traveling on so as to minimize the chances of being recognized. This led to you getting to know Clara and Ellie quite well. Not her husband though, who you’re not sure you ever caught the name of.

Kaku had butted heads with him a couple of times over his behavior, starting with when you were boarding the ship and saw that he’d left Clara to haul on all of the luggage herself despite being very noticeably pregnant. Both of you were quick to help her, while Kaku made a jab at him for being a “ninnyhammer”. Honestly you think he was more mad about not knowing what that meant than being insulted.

None of you saw much of him after that. He’d spent the day socializing and drinking, only coming back to the cabin after everyone else had already gone to bed.

You’ve been awake since he came back. Partially because you’ve had a lot on your mind as of late, but mostly because you really needed to pee. You thought that it could wait until morning at first, but it had become clear that wasn’t going to be the case.

There was no use in trying to sneak out of the bed without waking up Kaku. With how closely pressed you two were, even a heavy sleeper would be awoken from the movement. The second you shifted yourself up onto one elbow, his eyes shot open.

“Is something wrong?” His voice was thick with sleep, but his eyes were alert.

“I need to go to the bathroom. Hold Ace so he doesn’t run out after me,” you pulled the kitten away from your neck and handed him over. Ace mewled in protest.

“Alright, will do,” Kaku murmured while holding the feline gently.

After slipping on your shoes and a housecoat over your pajamas, you quietly snuck out of the room. 

One of the downsides to being sent to a world that was in a time period before your own was that things were less advanced than you were used to. Unfortunately that applied to the bathrooms. In the absence of plumbing, the “toilets” were in cramped rooms at the front of the ship that essentially just had a hole in the floor hanging over the ocean below.

Admittedly, this ship’s toilets were bougie in comparison to some of the others you’ve been on. At least these afforded you some privacy, unlike a few of the others that simply had you out in the elements for anyone and everyone to see your bare ass.

You’re not sure you made it ten feet from the room when you could hear the door open and close again. Your eye twitched in annoyance. Where could Kaku possibly think you would go while on a ship in the middle of the ocean? You hadn’t tried to run in months after learning quickly that you had no hope of being able to get away from him, not with how athletic he was.

With a huff, you stop and look over your shoulder. Instead of seeing your paranoid husband, your eyes fell upon Ellie. She jogged over, nightgown bouncing with each step, “Are you going to the toilets? Can I come with you?”

“Oh, yeah of course,” you waited for her to close the gap before continuing.

Ellie reached up to grab your hand as you made your way down the dimly lit hall, “Thank you! I really needed to go but was too scared to go by myself, it’s so spooky in here at night.” That it was. The sparsely placed oil lamps did little to illuminate the halls, the moonlight shining in through the windows was doing more than they were. “And I didn’t want to ask mama since she doesn’t feel so good.”

“Aww, that was very considerate of you,” sadly she appeared to be more concerned for her mother’s well being than the woman’s husband was. It wasn’t surprising that she hadn’t even considered asking her father to go with her, you don’t think you’ve seen them speak to each other once.

She tugged on your hand and looked up at you expectantly, “Hey, can I play with Ace again tomorrow?”

“I don’t see why not, he seems to be quite fond of you,” you couldn’t help but chuckle at her enthusiasm. Ellie squealed and walked with a skip in her step. 

Distantly, you wondered how Ace would feel about you naming a cat after him. He might be a little indignant about it at first, especially if you talked about how dumb the kitten was, but you think he would come around. Cat Ace is charming in his own right, he’d be able to win over human Ace. If… If he’d had the chance to. You shook your head. No, you weren’t going to let yourself spiral again tonight, and certainly not when you were escorting a child to the bathroom. 

After a somewhat long trek, the head finally came into view. Ellie let go of your hand and ran into one of the private rooms. She must have really had to go. You entered your room of choice with a decidedly calmer gait. It was very dark in there, with the only light coming from the slits in the wall letting in both fresh air and moonlight. 

Wanting to get out of here as quickly as possible, you got down to business. The choppy waters did not make balancing yourself particularly easy, but you managed. After washing your hands in a bowl of water that you were trying your hardest not to think too hard about the cleanliness of, you took a moment to look at yourself in the mirror.

Pushing back the partial bangs Kaku had given you to hide your scar- that he swore up and down he wasn’t bothered by, this was purely to hide your identity- you traced over the scar. It had long since healed over, but the memories associated with it felt fresh.

Again, your thoughts drifted to the Straw Hats. A few months ago, they had disappeared. No one knew where they were and there was talk of them having disbanded. You didn’t buy it, Luffy was far too determined to give up on his dream, and his crew was too loyal to leave him, but where did that leave you?

When they first left the public eye, you had thought it was done intentionally so they could come rescue you. It would be harder for Kaku to avoid them if he had no idea where they were. That never happened. It was really starting to feel like they had abandoned you. Makes sense, you suppose, you were quite the handful for them. What with all the people chasing after you and fighting them to get to you. It was probably nice to not have to worry about that anymore.

It hurt. A lot.

But not as much as you thought it would. Kaku has told you time and time again how much he loved you, and you did believe him. At first you thought he was just obsessed and nothing more, but as time went on and he went out of his way to try and make you happy, you found yourself doubting him less and less.

You wouldn’t say that you loved him, but you’re not sure how much longer that will be the case. He’d been successful in making you at least a little fond of him. You would willingly engage in conversations with him and honestly didn’t mind him holding you at night anymore. There have also been a few instances of you getting… carried away, but you didn’t want to think about that right now.

Were a few kind words and gentle touches really all it took to make you overlook the extremely dubious beginning of your relationship with him? Were you really that easy to win over? How pathetic.

Another rough jolt of the ship snapped you out of your thoughts. A dingy bathroom was hardly the kind of place you should be staying in any longer than necessary. The wooden door creaked loudly as you forced it open, making you wince. 

Ellie was standing on a bench beneath a large window, taking in the sight of the ocean at night. She flashed you a large grin and hopped down when you approached. The walk back to your shared room was filled with speculations about what the island you were heading to would be like. It was a welcomed distraction from your previous train of thought.

As you rounded the corner of the hallway your cabin resided in, you spotted a figure stationed outside of your room. Your pulse quickened, briefly panicking as you wondered who it was, but then he turned and his side profile gave away his identity immediately. Ah, it was just Kaku. Though you couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing out here.

He likely spotted both of you the second you entered the hall, and he spoke up once you got close enough to hear him. His eyes were focused on Ellie, “Your mother’s fretting over you, you should go in and let her know you’re alright.”

“Oh, okay. Thank you for walking with me, Lucky!” Ellie gave you a quick hug before scurrying into the room

It wasn’t until then that you noticed a disgruntled Ace in Kaku’s arms who was all but clawing at him to get to you. Naturally, you scooped him up and brought your dear pet to your chest, causing him to purr.

“Did something happen? Why was Clara so worked up?” You lightly stroked the kitten’s face, making him purr even harder.

“She didn’t realize her little ankle biter had slipped out of the room after you and got into a tizzy over where she had gone. She settled a bit after I said I saw her leave with you, but I figured she’d prefer to see Ellie in the room again.” Kaku sidled up to you, one of his hands found purchase on your shoulder and his head rested against your own. You allowed it, even leaning into him.

A comfortable silence blanketed you two as you lingered in the hall, swaying lightly with the current of the ocean.

“You do so well with children. Ellie adores you.” Was murmured into your ear.

Your breath hitched in your throat. You knew where he was going with that. Kaku had been open about his desire to have children since your encounter in Enies Lobby. Over the months that you’ve been together, he’d made several comments about it. From observations that you were good with kids when you did interact with them, to asking what kind of names you liked best. He wasn’t subtle, but he never pushed it when you changed the subject.

“I guess so? Ellie’s a good kid, it’s hard not to get along with her.” You honestly weren’t sure how you felt about the idea of having children of your own, you were hardly in the best state of mind to be thinking about such things.

Kaku hummed in agreement and held you to him just a little bit tighter. After a moment, he released you, “We should hit the hay, it’s late.” He didn’t wait for an answer before gently guiding you back to the room.

Slipping off your housecoat was slightly difficult to do while holding Ace, but he was too cute for you to want to put him down so you made it work. Kaku was already in the small bed and helped you climb in, keeping a firm grip on you so that you wouldn’t be thrown to the floor from a poorly timed wave. 

Yet again, you were squished against each other from the lack of space. A couple of months ago, you would have hated this. Now? It didn’t seem so awful.

Your face was buried in his chest as Ace squirmed around in an attempt to get himself comfortable. Kaku’s lips pressed against your forehead for a brief kiss and he mumbled out a quiet “sweet dreams” before fully settling into the bed.

Maybe loving him wouldn’t be so bad.

In skin into fur, I couldn't help but latch onto that one brief mentioning of Lucci hanging out around the giraffe enclosure and wonder if that means Kaku is also there for the same reason.

This led to me thinking about how giraffes go about courting, and how males will just beat the shit out of each other with their necks for dominance. Like I'm picturing Kaku waiting until the object of his affection is walking by and then just slamming into a poor unfortunate zookeeper as a display of strength. He quickly whips around to see if they look impressed and is confused (and jealous) to see them fretting over the zookeeper he just obliterated.

At least the gift giving would be more tame though? Instead of finding dead animals in their locker there's just like... a large branch with lots of leaves sticking out of it

Yeah! That does mean that that Kaku is here too, I’m glad that you picked up on it! Basically a lot of animal shifters have been known to make it so that they appear as regular animals although others do just decide to appear human

Some appear as house pets, others are wild animals like that raccoon behind the corner store, and others like Lucci choose to live in zoo’s or wildlife sanctuary’s

The purpose of it being a lot of things like some of them have simply decided to live out their lives there until the day that animal shifters take over the world and become the dominant species of earth while others use it as a way to more easily find mates and breed as a lot of people are around

An animal shifter will never take a normal animal as a mate though as that’s really weird even to them so typically an animal shifter will just take another animal shifter as a mate or a human they intend to court in a similar fashion to how an animal would until they eventually mate them turning them into an animal shifter too

Also I can’t say that I know too much about animal courtship methods but I do know something about giraffes and it’s that males will actually headbutt a female until they pee then they drink it to see if the female is fertile or something like that but let’s not think too much about that, yeah?

But that would be pretty interesting like that thing you brought up like let’s say that the male zookeeper is the one that’s been caring for Kaku way before you came along and Kaku has never had any problems with him

Doesn’t like him too much but he’s not a problem and he keeps the enclosure clean and sanitary while also keeping Kaku fed so he won’t cause any issues

But then comes the day that you get hired and I can imagine that when you walk in with the male zookeeper, it’s like a stereotypical scene where there’s like pink at the edges of the screen and some kind of romantic music in the background as Kaku looks at you

Definitely follows you around the enclosure a bunch eventually deciding that he wants you specifically as his mate but before he can start courting you, it seems like the male zookeeper has taken an interest in you too!! How dare he!!

(In actuality, all he did was ask if you wanted to go out to get some food together after work)

So next time that he gets a chance when you and the zookeeper are both near his enclosure, it’s time to show him just whose the better man so he waits for you to be watching then obliterates the male zookeeper just like you said

He’s so proud of himself, he took down the competition in one blow! Look at you running towards him, you’re likely going to accept him as your mate and let him fill you with his-! Wait, wait a second… You just ran past him…

You’re checking on the male zookeeper and dragging him off to safety which likely does not goes over well with Kaku, he won the fight so you should be recognizing him as the better person to mate but he has all of your attention…

Jealousy is rising and he figures it’s time to take matters into his own hands…

He’ll do exactly what Lucci did by leaving you gifts and things and it would be a hell of a lot tamer like it probably is branches but I can also see Kaku thinking of what human related things you might like

Honestly though, his gift giving would definitely be a lot tamer than Lucci’s like if you worked there at the same time that Lucci’s S/O went missing then it’s probably worrying but at least it isn’t dead animals, yeah?

Like I can just imagine him looking at a branch in his enclosure while he’s chomping down on some of the leaves and going “Hmm, that seems like it would be nice” then just getting offended when he checks around at night to see if you took it only to find it in the trash bin

How rude of you! But no matter, he doesn’t care too much as he knows that you’ll come around and even if you don’t then there’s not much that you can do about it as you’ll have to get used to it eventually when another giraffe mysteriously appears in the enclosure

You Know I feel like Rob Lucci snatched up Lizard in Water 7 by simply waiting for her to be alone and then taking her. Like before Robin boarded the train but after the reveal (that they were apart of CP9)

Like here's the thing she's not officially apart of the Straw hats (at the time) she's still considered to be apart of Baroque Works by proxy of her being the daughter of Crocodile. And so when Robin tries to argue for Lizard's freedom. Rob Lucci simply says "You said that the Strawhats were to be left alone. You never said anything about Crocodile's daughter. By the way until they reach Enies Lobby he only calls Lizard Crocodile's daughter after the reveal or little girl before the reveal. He doesn't refer to her as Lizard until she gets his respect when she throws her restrained self at Sandam and has to be physically dragged away from Spam face kicking and screaming demanding Spam's skull to beat him to death with his skull. Then he calls her Lizard and starts to become a platonic yandere for her and offers to pay for plastic surgery for her, so she can start fresh. Rob Lucci views Lizard as His cub that he must raise, nurture and mold into becoming the ideal assassin because as you said Lizard is cute which means that people won't see it coming

I got inspired and decided to write out the moment where Lucci officially becomes attached to her

Warning for acts of violence and a lot of blood mention. Also Spandam is here which is a warning in and of itself.

Lucci could not wait for Spandam to stop talking and dismiss them so he could leave and be doing literally anything else. Unfortunately, Spandam loved the sound of his own voice too much to ever be brief with his speeches, especially when he feels like he’s “accomplished” something. Not that he had any hand in the apprehending of the three individuals brought to Enies Lobby today.

Cutty Flam, or Franky as he called himself, had given them the most trouble, but even that was minimal. Nico Robin was easily coerced into cooperation with her newfound weakness with the Straw Hat Pirates. (Y/N), a former warlord’s daughter, had been the easiest. Not only did she not put up a fight, she boarded the train on her own once Kalifa confirmed that Nico Robin would also be there. The complete absence of fear had been intriguing. Lucci wasn’t sure if the child was truly fearless, or if she was simply intensely naive.

He’s sure that the answer will reveal itself soon enough.

While Nico Robin and Franky were actively arguing with Spandam, (Y/N) was just standing there and glowering at him. Her disdain for him was palpable as well as amusing. Understandable, too.

It appeared that Spandam had finally had enough of Robin’s protests, and decided to make it abundantly clear by punching her. The woman hit the floor hard and struggled to get back onto her feet. Lucci just rolled his eyes, he knew for a fact that the only reason Spandam was able to do this was because of the weakening effects of the sea prism stone handcuffs. If they were absent, she likely wouldn’t have even stumbled.

A flash of movement caught his eye. The once passive (Y/N) charged straight at Spandam. Since his back was to her, he didn’t get a chance to see her coming and only became aware of her when she rammed into him.

Spandam tripped over Robin and toppled onto the ground, slightly dazed. Before he could react, (Y/N) was on him. The teenager raised her foot and brought it down directly onto his face with a resounding crack. The impact most certainly broke his nose. 

She didn’t stop there, however, she kept going. (Y/N) was repeatedly stomping on his head with precise and consistent blows. These weren’t the random, desperate kicks of someone acting out of fear. No, this was nothing but concentrated fury. Her once neutral expression was contorted with rage as she cursed out the chief of CP9 with vitriol dripping from each word.

Everyone was watching this in a stunned silence. Robin had entirely stopped trying to get up and was staring at (Y/N) in horror, Franky was in a similar state. The rest of CP9 was gawking at the display, none of them had anticipated the abrupt turn in her behavior.

While this was all extremely entertaining, it did have to come to an end before Spandam did. Jabra sprung out of his chair and rushed over to the girl. His hands clamped onto her upper arms and lifted her up and away from her victim. This was not enough to deter her. (Y/N) flailed and tried her damnedest to kick Jabra, albeit unsuccessfully. 

“Quit! You’re just making this worse for yourself, kid,” Jabra tossed the teenager away from him. She rolled across the ground, but quickly got up and sprinted towards Spandam again. Jabra blocked her path, but that didn’t stop her from screaming at the crumpled form of the chief, “If you ever fucking touch Robin again I’ll fucking kill you, you piece of shit!”

Kumadori had abandoned his own chair to check on Spandam, who had now shifted onto his side and was violently coughing and hacking. Blood was gushing out of not only his broken nose but also his mouth. He spat onto the floor and one, two… Four teeth fell out. Oh wow, impressive. 

“Lucci! Keep that monster away from me!” Spandam clung onto Kumadori’s hair as he attempted to get to his feet, “I knew you were involved with your father’s business! You were probably his best assassin, you little psychopath!”

Lucci snorted at the thought. Nothing about her actions indicated that she was experienced. Though he would admit that he could see some potential. Lucci grabbed the chain that connected her handcuffs and pulled her back a few steps, she shot him a venomous glare over her shoulder, but otherwise cooperated. Her shoulders were heaving from how hard she was breathing, moreso out of anger rather than exercise if he had to guess.

Spandam had managed to get himself upright with help and was trying to wipe the blood from his face with a handkerchief. He slapped away Kumadori’s helping hand and stomped towards Lucci and (Y/N).

He leered at the girl, “You have no idea what you’ve done! In case you forgot, I’M IN CHARGE OF YOU NOW!” Flecks of blood sprayed out of his mouth and got on her face. Shockingly, she doesn’t flinch from it and keeps her face neutral. “I’m going to make whatever is left of your miserable little life absolute hell and kill you the second you’re no longer worth keeping alive!”

Lucci saw Spandam becoming increasingly aggravated from her giving him no reactions to feed off of. His scowl shifts into a smirk and he gets right in her face, “Or maybe I’ll take this out on Robin and make you watch as you’re powerless to do anything.”

There was a pause. And then she spat in his face.

A couple of the CP9 agents snickered. This was honestly the most entertaining thing they’ve been subjected to in their time under Spandam. Even Lucci felt a grin tug at his lips, this girl was proving herself to be more and more interesting by the second.

Spandam recoiled and aggressively wiped at his face, only to yelp in pain when he brushed against his broken nose like an idiot. His eyes zeroed back in on (Y/N) and he reeled his arm back, “You little bitch!”

His hand swung towards her to slap her across the face, but that’s not what happened. With an honestly impressive speed, her head snapped forward and her teeth sank into his hand. Spandam screamed and tried to shake the girl off, but she only bit down harder and snarled.

“WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, GET HER OFF ME!” The screech was so loud that it made Lucci’s ears hurt, but he obliged. An order is an order after all. 

Lucci yanked her back by the handcuffs while Kumadori was pulling on Spandam. This girl was holding onto that hand for dear life, and it took some genuine effort to separate them, but with one final tug they were pulled apart.

This was accompanied by a snapping sound and even louder screaming from Spandam who was holding the bitten hand to his chest and doubled over. Kaku could be heard muttering out a ‘good lord’, and before Lucci could investigate to see what prompted such a reaction from a trained assassin, (Y/N) spit something out onto the floor. 

A couple of quiet thuds were heard, and when he looked down, two fingers were rolling across the floor with blood spurting out of them. The pinky and ring fingers to be exact.

“I TOLD YOU TO KEEP HER AWAY FROM ME!” Never one to take accountability for his own stupid actions, Spandam was quick to direct his rage at Lucci.

“I did. But then you chose to approach her again,” it took everything Lucci had to keep from openly mocking him to his face.

“Boss, maybe we should get you some medical attention!” Kumadori was lightly pulling him towards the door, desperate to leave the situation before their moronic chief could possibly make it any worse.

Spandam was pulled out the main door and could be heard hurling obscenities from down the hall.

The room was dead silent and all of the eyes were on (Y/N). Robin and Franky were slack jawed, while the CP9 members appeared to be surprised but also mildly impressed. Not that she was paying them any mind. She was more focused on spitting out the blood in her mouth and trying to wipe off what remained using her shoulder.

Jabra strolled over and lightly nudged the disembodied fingers, “Damn, and you did all of that with your hands behind your back. I almost want to see what would happen if the cuffs came off.”

“Then do it.” She leveled him with a hard stare. Blood that wasn’t her own was smeared across the lower half of her face, “Uncuff me and see what happens.”

“No can do, kiddo. As much as everyone here might love to see that, we’ve got jobs to do.” Jabra flicked her forehead playfully and laughed when she tried to bite him, too. Lucky for him, she wasn’t quite fast enough to get him.

His eyes briefly flickered up to see Lucci’s face, and he cringed at the sight, “Hey kid, you might want to tone it down a bit.”

“Why?” Her response was snappy and sharp.

“Because I really don’t like the look on Lucci’s face right now and I’m pretty sure you’re the cause of it.”

She looked over her shoulder with an annoyed huff, but froze up once she made eye contact with the man holding her. A wide, malicious grin was plastered across his face as he leered down at the girl.

It was in that moment that Lucci knew he wanted this girl to live to see another day and not rot in prison. Letting someone with such a natural propensity for violence die now would be a horrendous waste. He knows that under the right supervision, this girl could be shaped into a damn good assassin, and he knows just the person that could train her.
