☆ that much is clear from the spectacle he made of your older sister, nezuko, at the hashira's headquarters with that horrrible temper of his. needless to say, you don't like him at all and he clearly doesn't like you or your sister, either. it certainly doesn't help that master kagaya seems to have a sour sense of humor as you're now stuck with him as your babysitter.

☆ both tanjiro and nezuko vehemently object to master kagaya's orders. the servants of the residence had to literally rip you from the ironed grips of your older siblings, who were screaming bloody murder as if you'd be separated for the rest of eternity. they were certainly being a tad bit dramatic, but you'd be lying if you said you weren't just as upset.

☆ with the deal set in stone, however, sanemi drags you to his home as begrudgingly as humanly possible and condemns you to one of his spare bedrooms. apparently he lived alone (expected tbh) in a traditional style home, complete with the koi ponds and bamboo deer scares. it's nice, you'll give him that, but his nasty attitude doesn't seem to match the beauty of his residence.

☆ and, well, sanemi doesn't... hate you. you remind him so much of his younger brother, genya, and most of his anger is only borne out of pain. as the eldest of the family he once knew, it's not like the instincts he acquired to take care of his siblings just went away. you simply remind him of who he used to be and the weaknesses that tore his family apart make him inexplicably angry.

☆ considering your resemblance to his late younger siblings (and genya), sanemi does get protective over you in his own ways. sometimes you meddle too close to the windows during the day, so he'll yell at you to move. or sometimes when you're scarfing down the raw meat he gives you, he yells at you to slow down lest you choke.

☆ it may seem like he's not paying attention to you at all, but he's always peeking at you with watchful eyes. he's notices that you like to watch him train but can't be out in the sun, so he hung up a blanket in the branches of a nearby tree without saying a word to you. you smile knowing that you're growing on him.

☆ the rest of the days you spend with sanemi begin to feel more pleasant than it did initially. sanemi no longer leaves you to your own devices, but instead tries to find things for you to do during the day when you can't go outside. he'll bring you puzzles and teach you how to read with children's folktales written on tarnished scrolls that he said he kept from his old family home.

☆ you're not sure what happened, but sanemi dotes on you now. once you had tripped and split your finger open, and sanemi rushed to your side like it had been your head. it healed within a few seconds, but sanemi still scolded you for walking around unsupervised.

☆ and when you get feverish due to your refusal of eating human flesh, which is often, sanemi tarries by your side day and night in order to make sure you're as comfortable as can be. cold, damp towels on your forehead, fresh raw meat at your bedside, and anything else you want, he gets for you. the worry etched into the lines of his forehead shows how much he cares about you.

☆ by the time tanjiro and nezuko return from their mission to collect you, sanemi doesn't even want to let you go. in fact, you've both grown attached to each other and while you're overjoyed to see your siblings again, sanemi has also become something like an older brother to you. you've grown to love the big residence and his presence.

☆ you're in tears as sanemi pats your head and smiles crookedly at you for what feels like the last time. you beg tanjiro to let you stay longer but he firmly tells you no. sanemi makes tanjiro promise that he'll take you to visit him or else he'll kill him (he's serious).

☆ when you inevitably depart from sanemi (tanjiro has to pry you away from him), he feels about as lonely as the day is long. the residence feels too big without you following behind him like his own shadow, and every time he turns a corner he half-expects to find you doing something to cause trouble.

☆ sanemi takes the flower crown you both made and seals it in a glass jar. he hopes that you'll visit again before it withers, or else he might just go out and find you himself.

Utterly ashamed of themselves, Hinatsuru thought it would be a good idea for her, Suma, and Makio to kneel with their foreheads to the ground as they break the news to their husband.

The flashy white haired man clad in dark clothing removes his shoes by the door, lowering the weapon off of his back carefully and putting it in its proper place. All the while, he regards his wives with a raised brow.

“Hinatsuru, care to explain what’s going on?” He can’t help the smile curling his lips. His wives’s antics always bring him amusement.

“It’s…Y/N, Tengen. Please, don’t be mad at her. We found her trying to claw at the window again. She was bleeding from her nails and fingers, so we bandaged her hands and tied her up for her own safety. She’s resting in the bedroom now.”

Suddenly, their antics aren’t all that funny to him.

“I see. You can get up. I’ll go deal with the brat.”

He hears Suma whisper something about you deserving punishment for worrying them and angering him, but he chooses to ignore it as he enters the room all of you share. Sitting down on the bed, he scans your body as you wriggle around with your hands tied behind your back and a gag in your mouth.

“I’m assuming Makio or Suma gagged you?” He doesn’t go to remove it however.

The cloth in your toothy cavern collects drool, feeling damp. You try to get him to take it off of you, but your words come out muffled.

“Yeah, calm down.” He rests a hand on your hip, patting the area lightly. “Do you know what it’s like trying to protect someone so ungrateful? Do you know what it’s like giving them everything and getting nothing in return?” His hand begins caressing your thigh, smoothing over the bare flesh where your skirt splits.

Pulling you close to him, he gathers you into his lap, holding you there securely as he gazes into your eyes. “Nothing is ever enough for you, is it?”

You kick your feet lightly, only trying to create enough movement to escape his grip. It only causes him to hold you even tighter. “I don’t want to have to go back to how things were in the beginning, but I will if I have to.”

That causes you to go still, eyes widening like that of an owl, orbs shimmering with dampness as you remember things you have tried to block out.

The starvation, the vulgarity of his hands on your body, the beatings that would leave you vomiting late into the night, the nights where he would leave you naked and bound to shiver on the floor.

You weren’t allowed to sleep in his bed until you became a “good wife”. He reminded you of this often until you broke, until you one day chose his kindness over his cruelty.

The Hashira presses a kiss against your neck, sighing into you. “I’m going to leave you like this. I’ll check on you tomorrow. Once you learn to behave, we can go back to normal.” Standing up with you in his arms, Tengen takes you down to the sake cellar with you screaming behind the gag. You kick your feet and thrash your shoulders and you rear your head back in anguish.

All too soon, you find him putting you down in the corner of the room, placing a cuff on your ankle which locks you to a deadbolt on the floor.

“Remember, only good wives are treated with my kindness and respect. When you can show me that side of you, then I’ll let you out of here.”

You sob as he turns his back to you, retreating up the stairs. You had tried to escape the Uzui house, and where did that get you? All the way back to where you started.

You said while standing up, before looking at your friends, you were about to leave this Hashira Headquarters and then, Mitsuri standing in front of you while looking at you with sad puppy look on her face. Mitsuri said while begging you to go on a picnic with your friends, you were about to say no, but your friends gave you the sad puppy look on their faces. "Well, it's because you have been helping us with understanding of being there for your friends and family, and you never gave up on all of the hard work you have done helping us, and that's why we decided that we shall return the favor and help you, right everyone???" Tengen explained everything while looking at the rest of the Hashira, they all nodded their heads, you looked at your friends with a surprise look, but swapped with a smile on your face. "Great, thanks everyone, well then, let's dig in." You said while everyone nodded and started eating their food properly.

You were heading out on a mission, getting the things you needed to pack up before your departure. you were going to make your way through the woods when you saw a boy walking towards you in the distance. "hey Tanjiro" you shouted running up to him. He looked up at you with a saddened look "is everything okay?" "y/n" he looked down at his feet. "tanjiro hey, is everything alright" she put her hands on his shoulders "Rengoku-" "what? What's wrong with Kyo" "Tanjiro please" y/n asked hurriedly as anxiety started to creep up her spine "Rengoku's gone" y/n couldn't believe what she was hearing it felt like the entire world stopped and swallowed her whole. "tha- that cant be he promised me he'd be back" "this can't be possible where is he?" "y/n" she looked into the boy's eyes not seeing a hint of lies". y/n started to choke on her tears. tanjiro hugged the girl wishing she could feel the sorrow and apologies through it. he felt horrible having to be the one to rely upon such news. he could smell how deeply in love they were with each other both scents being identical. "I'm so sorry mitsuri I think I'm gonna head home for the night" "oh, okay I'm right here if you need anything don't be afraid to reach out okay".

          y/n isolated herself from everyone she never really left her house unless she had a mission other than that she barricaded herself in her room. on those days it was so hard for her to get out of bed she lost the motivation, she felt lifeless. On some days, she even convinced herself that she had no purpose and that she'd be better off dead. y/n knew it was wrong to believe those things, she knew Rengoku would want her to live her life to the fullest. So why was it so hard? all of y/n's friends grew worried since they have not seen their friend in quite some time, some of them even stopping by to check up on her. "yoo-hoo y/n are you in there?" y/n groaned "go away Shinobu, I don't want to talk to anyone right now" "see I told you it would be a waste of our time if she refuses to open up" Tengen said walking away. "Y/N IF YOU DONT OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW I'LL BREAK IT DOWN" *was that Makio?* y/n thought "y/n please let us in we brought some food," Hina said "oh please don't tell me Shinobu brought a whole entourage with her” y/n facepalmed as she went to open the door a little. "what do you guys want," y/n said stoned face "please let us in I refuse to speak to a door. we just wanted to check up on you since neither of us has seen you in days" Shinobu spoke. "I'm fine. go away" y/n was about to slam the door until Tengen slid his hand in quick enough to stop it. "Gotta be quicker than that" Tengen smirked. y/n rolled her eyes and backed away from the door. Suma immediately ran up to the girl and clung to her tightly "WE MISSED YOU SO MUCH Y/N YOU HAVEN'T STOPPED BY RECENTLY WE WERE SO WORRIED AND SAD" Suma cried into y/n's chest. "STOP THAT" Makio yelled, aggressively prying the girl's arms off y/n. "YOU SEE HOW MEAN SHE IS TO ME TENGEN SAMA" Suma wailed. y/n chuckled at the interaction unraveling in front of her. "see there's that beautiful smile, I knew you still had it in you," Tengen said "so y/n are you ready to talk?" Shinobu said with a smile y/n inhaled deeply tears starting to pool in her eyes at the thought... "yea" 

          later that evening y/n had felt 10 times lighter having poured her heart out to all of them about how she was holding herself up. Some of them felt a deep pity for her because they know exactly how it felt to lose someone so close to you, someone that completed you. all of them have been in y/n's shoes before. some more times than others. She didn't feel embarrassed at all, finally revealing a side only Kyojuro had seen. y/n had finally realized that she no longer had to face any of this alone and that her friends were willing to let her share some of that burden with them and if that's what it takes to finally get their friend back they'd gladly accept it. y/n was not the only one who lost someone that day, they too lost their friend, a close friend.

          y/n visited Rengoku's grave after months of stalling, she knew that once she saw his burial sight reality would struck in making her worst nightmare come true. but this time y/n visited him with a new attitude. She paid her respects to him and then sat down next to his hakaishi telling him about everything she had gone through since he's been gone. " it's been a long time since you and I have had some alone time huh?" y/n said scooting close to his grave "these past couple of months have been the hardest without you, you know. but everyone has done their best to help me are friends are amazing" she giggled resting her head on it smiling ahead. "I was trapped in a complete funk without you. I even started slacking on my training which is fine, Tengen offered to train with me even taking me in as his tsugoku." the girl said happily. "Mitsuri gave me a bunch of recipes to try and they were pretty good I also have been spending most of my time at the butterfly estate. The girls have been wonderful company," y/n rambled, elbowing his grave. "things haven't been easy since you left but with the help of our friends I have been able to take it one step at a time I truly do miss you kyo, every day" y/n felt a warm breeze capturing her in what almost felt like a hug. "I wish you were here," y/n spoke as she closed her eyes.

"[Name], my love, please open the door. You are worrying us all," Kyojuro calmly asked for you to open the door, in his usual cherry voice, his smile seemed forced and he was anxiously holding his haori/cape.

"You think that brat will open the door so fucking easily?" Sanemi scoffed at Kyojuro as Kyojuro's eye twitched, Sanemi is a little bitch. "Open the goddamn door!!" Sanemi screamed at you, while you were inside the room trying to take deep breaths and stop the tears rolling down your face as you hurriedly looked for a way to get out. As soon as Sanemi's voice reached you, you flinched and threw something at the door thinking they broke in.

"What was...that sound? Did [Name]-Chan hurt herself?! Oh my God, [Name]-Chan, please open the door!!" Mitsuri gasped at the sudden sound and paranoid thoughts started filling her mind, did you fall? Did you cut your hand? What if you hurt your head? In a panic, she started banging at the door.

Sobs filled the room as Shinobu and Obanai tried to get Mitsuri to stop crying, while the others continued trying to persuade you to open the door.

No matter how many reassuring words they told you, no matter how many promises they made that they wouldn't hurt you, you didn't believe them. You don't trust them. Who can even trust them?

There was no possible escape from this room, other than the door. You searched every corner, no vents, no windows, not even a bathroom attached to it. And not to add it's so stuffy here. The air smells dusty, filled with the smell of...dead bodies, and flies flying around the room mindlessly bumping into things. The room was filled with spider webs and cardboard boxes.

'Maybe I could find something useful in the boxes,' You thought as you carefully went towards one of the boxes and opened it, and surprisingly it was easy to open. As if it had been recently used. As soon as you opened the box, the ugly odor filled the room. Coughing slightly, you looked in the box. To see multiple..fingers, eyeballs, and so many more human body parts.

Suddenly the Hashiras heard a loud thud as you fell to the floor, taking sharp intakes of breath, and oh God, you can't fucking breathe. Fresh tears cascaded down your face as your heart picked up its speed. Your hands started trembling as you desperately started clawing at your skin, wanting to get the image out of your head.

After hearing the loud thud and your whimpers, without a thought, the Hashiras broke the door and immediately went towards you.

"[Name]-San, what happened? What's wrong?" Shinobu softly asked you as she tried to caress your face, which resulted in you scooting away from her. She let her hand down sadly as she looked at you.

"Hey, [Name], talk to me," Muichiro said as he walked towards you, and he was probably the one you could at least tolerate and one of your best comfort sources at this moment. Muichiro sat down next to you and hugged you, hiding your face in his clothes. He started running his fingers through your hair, trying his best to calm you down.

All the while this was going on, Giyuu and Sanemi were trying to guess what caused you to be like this. Of course, as soon as Giyuu's keen eye caught the sight of the open box, it was all clear what you saw. Grunting, Sanemi harshly closed the box.

"I told you all, we shouldn't have put the box here. [Name] comes here often.." Giyuu said while looking at your pitiful form.

Sanemi rolled his eyes and kindly told him to fuck off.

Shinobu took an injection from her medical toolbox and injected you with it. Your surroundings started fading away, and soon enough you were knocked out in Muichiro's hold.

Before you were knocked out, you heard one last thing.
