Sexuality Headcanon: bisexual 👍 subaru being somewhere on the ace spectrum isnt a super strong headcanon of mine compared to the bisexual hc but i am still fond of it <33 bc i do tend to just hc him as bisexual but i suppose i could kind of see it <33 :DD !!

Gender Headcanon: subaru is literally, as we’ve all discussed, like EVERY letter of lgbtq+ i swear. like natsumi EXPLICITLY being stated to be his ideal self….. what cisgender boy has his ideal version of himself be a woman…. come on….. and hes been like. dressing and trying to pass as a girl for his crossdressing pre-isekai too. like subarus Practiced A Lot at this. subaru clearly enjoys doing this and he was crushed when he couldnt pass bc of his voice pre-isekai :(( AND LIKE subaru and his complex relationship to masculinity and feeling insecure in his own skin like……………… and then natsumi being his ideal self…… natsumi being the Heroine……….. and its like. subaru clearly has a case of “do i want to be them or be With Them” when it comes to men hes attracted to (most notably julius.) so like. it could apply to women too. like. and then the way subaru reacts to felix’s presentation too………. i just think it says a lot. i dont care what tappei says but he wrote all this shit in the text fr!!! and also in general. natsuki subaru being a gender neutral name…. same with natsumi schwartz… so yes genderqueer subaru for the win. i personally hc subaru as genderfluid or bigender!! and also like. subaru being Very LGBTQ+ is so in line with rezero’s themes of self love and self improvement and self discovery and Identity. i think it hits so much harder if subaru Is lgbtq+ versus if he was just insecure straight cis man. like no wonder subaru was struggling Even More. hes so so far in the closet and struggling with like the internal homophobia and shit fr :(((

that and 1. subaru being lgbt is such a great subversion of what you would think when you first meet his character. and also a subversion of ur typical isekai protag which ADDS to rezeros subversion of isekai in general and 2. i love making Certain People mad with these hcs. like its so supported by the text the only thing missing is explicit confirmation. which. i have my doubts with tappei on that but iirc he DID say he nearly wrote a lust if with the guys…. tappei. come on. you already explicitly said that natsumi is subarus ideal self.

A ship I have with said character: im very open to most subaru ships!!! i just love a lot of them—reinsuba, ottosuba, emisuba, remsuba, julisuba… i just like how each kind of dynamic with subaru has so much range like even in just main route alone?? and then you factor in the ifs and it gets So Interesting. theres so much history with each pairing and so much to explore, whether its platonic or romantic. and subaru has a LOT of love in his heart.

i just like each pairing for different reasons hah—like ok ive talked a lot about reinsuba and emisuba already in other asks so. i DO like remsuba okay. not in the sense that i want it to be the endgame ship in main route bc thats very much not happening and i would prefer The Most Detailed emisuba development of all time. which would be more thematically relevant <3 but i DO ADORE remsubas relationship in general. like its so so complicated??? like. yeah theres the conflict in arc 2. theres the conflict in arc 7 with her waking up and being different and being so mean to him about natsumi :((( theres her “youre my hero” versus “youre not a hero” WHICH. URHGHF ITS SO GOOD….. and like yeah remsuba really do be. iffy. in terms of how healthy it is. but its so complicated bc you also have rem being like—she was like the first person, narratively, to be willing to DIE to save subaru the exact way he does for other people (including rem). and then the famous from zero scene in season one which is a MASTERPIECE but i hate how people fixate on “i love emilia” LIKE REM IS HAPPY FOR SUBARU. SHE IS HAPPY AS LONG AS HE IS. EVEN IF HE DOESNT LIKE HER BACK. but also he did like her back romantically for a time. and also of course rem had her fixation on subaru :(( subaru had his own obsession for emilia while rem had hers for subaru pre-being gluttonyed?? :(( yeah like. remsuba being so complicated is so interesting to me. like she and subaru are very passionate people yes. but also they do need to learn to tone it down sometimes you know? REM ESPECIALLY TOO BECAUSE EVEN AFTER SHE STOPS BEING MURDERY TOWARDS HIM… FOR EXAMPLE IN SEASON ONE SHE WOULD CANONICALLY GO TO HIS ROOM IN THE MORNING AND WAIT FOR HIM TO WAKE UP…. like she'd just sit there at his bedside and Stare at him... like girl chill a bit its okay T^T i havent read sloth if. but it seems like they learned to mellow out and have a happy life T^T apart from. a shit ton of people dying in the background and also subaru dying of old age and resetting back to arc 3. i am interested to see if we’ll get further remsuba closure in arc 8 yes. but also im bonking subaru on the head in arc 7 for saying even REM TORTURING HIM was a fond memory. pls let this be addressed again later i swear sodndn.

ok also julisuba and ottosuba. i am no expert on julisuba but on the other hand i have analyzed Too Much Ottosuba so perhaps i am an expert there wodndn. but YEAH i love those ships. they have so much history and moments between them and they are. definitely the more Explicit evidence of subaru being bi (between subarus Interest in julius and reid calling julisuba boyfriends and SUBARUS INTEREST IN JULIUS... vs ottosuba repeatedly being like “omg do you Like Like me?” “NO I DONT SHUT UP” and also their continued divorce arc dynamics yep). but also i will say i really like ottosuba because specifically they are the subaru pairing where theyre like. Very Much Closer To Being Equals. if theyre not already equals in something. like in terms of power levels and intellect and their very loving families and previous inability to fit in or be believed by people and also their status in the narrative as Being Just A Guy in comparison to everyone else. and yet ottosuba are the MOST important members to their camp for their jobs—subaru keeps everyone alive, and otto handles All the politics, which we see over and over again. they are literally THE power duo. otto is so so important too as the second person to die FOR subaru the same way subarus died for others. like the paralleling of otto pushing subaru out of the way when the white whale drove otto insane (and later otto tried to go back for subaru once he regained his senses ;-;;;) versus otto pushing subaru out of the way so he didnt get killed by garf ;-;;;;;. and otto being the second person after rem to also give subaru an EXTREMELY IMPORTANT speech to him (otto-rem parallels...???) <33 except ottosuba also foil a lot bc of their Different Morals. but theyre both stubborn as hell and have a tendency to go off and do shit they think is best without telling anyone bc theyre too deadset (hah) on what THEY think. (OTTO. SPENDING A WHOLE YEAR SECRETLY GETTING THE BOOK OF WISDOM AND HAVING IT RESTORED?? HELLO???) anyway yeah ill stop right here bc i have So Much ottosuba posts on this damn blog wkdndn but i really do think the appeal of ottosuba is that they Are on a more even playing ground. and their morality flipflops sometimes. ottos issues are just more lowkey than subarus widndnd. i am. however. nervous about all the ottosuba and vincent-chisha parallels in arc 8 bc………. possible otto perma death on the horizon??? 😭😭😭😭 itd CRUSH subaru.

also of course the similar flavors of julisuba and ottosuba….. u can have ur tsundere x tsundere ships in TWO DIFFERENT FONTS. anyway ill become a julius lore expert someday i promise.

A BROTP I have with said character: BROTP ottosuba and ramsuba are so so funny and great wofndn but special shoutout to garf and subaru in particular!!! i think its interesting how far their relationship has come bc they had a VERY rough start and its like. 1. im sure garf would immediately regret going into a rage and killing a shit ton of people in that One Failed Loop and 2. we learn garf is a traumatized fourteen year old whos been trying so hard to take care of the demihumans inside sanctuary while his sister and mom left him, one way or another, and hes very afraid of the outside world. and its like YEAH now your behavior makes sense. and its so good to see garfs growth and also his growth in his relationship with subaru (and otto) bc he looks up to subaru sm!!! subaru helped garf so much T^T theyre brothers guys 😭😭 i think its so adorable and so sweet. ill defend garf all day everyday. garf 🤝 subaru with their DAMN hero complexes while otto tries to keep them both on a leash so they dont do stupid shit. subaru IS a good role model for garf though ill say that. subaru tries so hard to be a good role model wkdndn. and yes i always laugh when garf teases subaru for drawing doodles and writing encouraging things for emilia in the temple.

A NOTP I have with said character: okay so. maybe i will spill some tea here. hah so i went over in ram’s ask how i think ramsuba in wrath if is actually super interesting widndns but otherwise ramsuba to me is bland. which. i also just feel like subaru/crusch and subaru/ana and subaru/priscilla are also bland. like. i dont think theyll ever feel interesting to me akdndn. like theres not. as much to work off of imo. like i just dont think theyre a good match romantically at all. like At All. priscilla especially LMAO…. and im tired of people reducing women in the story to just boobs and being fucked by subaru 😭😭😭 like i dont have anything against those subaru ships, my biggest notp is just seeing a bunch of characters be butchered just to have subaru have sex with various women. 😭😭 obviously not everyone in the fandom does that but i see this happens the most with priscilla fr. pls. shes more than just boobs :(((

anyway. my other notp is like. echidna/subaru but like. i feel similarly to ram/roswaal on this where its like. theres a potential there to show a nuanced complex toxic relationship bc THAT IS what echidna/subaru are. even more so in greed if. like theyve spent an UNGODLY amount of time together like their relationship is so fucked. like god the amount of details that were added to their dynamic in the greed if ln makes me go INSANE….. like you know how echidna said that subaru could use her body with this contract?? what she ALSO really meant was HEY SUBARU YOU CAN KILL ME IF YOU WANT. ILL JUST COME BACK BC WE ALWAYS MEET IN A DREAM WORLD AND THERES NO CONSEQUENCES BUT ITLL FEEL REAL TO YOU. LIKE HOLY FUCK FR 😭😭 and like in generally reading through greed if ln is a Trip alright. like “no yeah duh of course it is, suffaru, its GREED IF” but LISTEN……. echidna being subarus weird mother figure and then like. idk there are obvious implications i feel from like the body fluid tea and then echidna being like “you can use my body” and then theres a moment where she puts his hand on her chest and yeah its to feel her heart but LIKE…. anyway my real notp is like. depicting echidna/subaru like it is a Healthy Thing like no it is not 😭😭😭😭 it never was healthy and it literally never will be unless ur changing echidnas character drastically. if ur gonna show off echidna/subaru then they are gonna be SO RANCID in like every way possible there is no other correct way to write them. she is terrible for him. she literally saw him and went “i can make him worse” and then it happened. bc greed if subaru is a Terrible Person. like. its not even a question. the biggest example i can think of rn other than obvious Rbd use is KEEPING MEILI. A CHILD. HOSTAGE AND LOCKED UP IN ORDER TO USE ELSA. HER OLDER SISTER FIGURE. JEEZ. my biggest notp of all time is treating unhealthy relationships as if they Arent unhealthy.

MY OTHER BIGGEST NOTP OF ALL TIME FOR ANYTHING IS SHIPPING A CHILD AND AN OLDER PERSON TOGETHER. subaru/petra SHOULD BE AN OBVIOUS NOTP BUT SURE DOESNT FEEL LIKE IT SOMETIMES….. guys she is a child. come on. hes seventeen and shes TWELVE. GUYS…. and then theres tappei making iirc an ACTUAL petra if????? and idk what the content in petra if is exactly but i worry given tappeis track record with the child characters sometimes 😭😭 AND THEN PETRA BEING IN LUST IF. TAPPEI…… N-NOTHING HAPPENS, RIGHT? *EXPLODES WITH RAGE*. even if petra and subaru get together later when theyre Older Adults in some AU or something its like. subaru knew her when she was a young child. and she had a crush on him then. um. personally idk if im fully comfortable with that hah T^T

A random headcanon: GONNA TALK ABOUT WRATH IF. anyway so the wrath if divergence point is that subaru gets beatrice to teleport him away and ram chases him down, ram tries to strangle him to death but fails, he smashes her head with a rock. yes. BUT OKAY when u watch the anime. beatrice comes for his aid AFTER subaru gets to the cliff and tries to psych himself up to like. jump off to save rem and stuff. THEREFORE wrath if subaru still considered trying to rbd via jumping off that cliff. he just decided not to and agreed to have beatrice teleport him away. this is something not many people seem to mention or maybe even notice (??) but I THINK ABOUT IT A LOT…. :((

General Opinion over said character: i LOVE SUBARU WITH MY WHOLE BEING. he is my absolute favorite anime character of all time. his character arc is so chaotic and complicated and i think the way he Does like still struggle with the same Inner Conflicts is so so much more realistic. recovery and self improvement are NOT linear and he shows that perfectly. and i hate how much people misread subaru T^T the whole chadbaru trend in fandom of how he should get harems or how he should leave everyone or be terrible to emilia for *insert a long list of Terrible reasons here* is so. like did we all read and watch the same damn story or what hah. the whole point of rezero is LOVE ITSELF….. and subaru ultimately has a lot of love for so many people around him. though of course i do worry for how rbd reveal is going to be handled, and im not entirely sure how to feel about subarus arc 7 development atm. rbd reveal is gonna have catastrophic consequences for Everyone. like everyone hes ever been close to finding out hes died a shit ton of times to save him?? that so many of them have like. maimed and killed him or at least Tried To Do That? like HOW are we gonna get a happy ending out of all of this—hows tappei gonna handle this?? 😭😭 i worry sometimes that when rbd reveal happens it wont be nuanced or itll gloss over certain things or it just. wont be so satisfying. bc u have arc 7 subaru out here with SUICIDE PILLS……. ARC 7 SUBARU IN REPEATED INSANE DEATH LOOPS AS A CHILD….. how are we gonna come back from this?? 😭😭 i have my doubts sometimes but tappei loves insane character development for subaru so i suppose i will hope. i just wish for all the trauma to be seen and addressed akdndn and the fact that rbd is so. complicated. it makes subaru and his relationships with everyone else so complicated. and rbd is inherently unfair in a lot of ways to both subaru and everyone hes close to. i cant wait for more subaru development but i also think after arc 8 he NEEDS a break or like otherwise, personally i think subarus gonna snap for good and not be able to return from it 😭😭 or ill just have to suspend my uhh disbelief. i suppose. but yes i do love subaru a lot!!! his hair is a Pain in the ass to draw but ill endure the pain just for him. <33

but regarding all of subarus loved ones maiming and killing him a lot—i think its fascinating how the if routes prove he is JUST as capable of ruining all their lives. like i feel like people forget that sometimes in favor of woaaah cool what if routes where subaru becomes “badass”…. but LIKE…. hes SO SO CAPABLE of so much destruction. he is choice itself. he is capable of changing the entire world and everyone around him. he is capable of causing the deaths and trauma for SO MANY PEOPLE… and like i think rezero itself and subarus relationships are like an extreme version of hedgehog’s dilemma, u know? like u get close to people to love and be loved, but ur also very vulnerable to getting hurt. and rezero is About love. and part of close relationships are that ur so close u Can be hurt. maybe you Will be hurt. but u will also Love….. unless ur one of the ifbarus then fuck u for making the wrong decisions ig wodndndn. im telling u guys that subaru is LITERALLY an eldritch being at this rate. todd is so right.

and. okay one last thing im gonna be real for a second. im a little eh on subaru being a child, honestly. like i DO like the trope of turning characters back into their child selves in order to explore their psychology that way!! but like. idk i feel like the childbaru arc is kinda too similar to the whole amnesiabaru arc in arc 6. it feels Extraneous. it doesnt feel different enough for me personally. (emphasis on personally. this is all my opinion hah.) and then he is STILL A CHILD IN ARC 8 EVEN THOUGH THE OTHER PEOPLE THAT GOT TURNED INTO KIDS ARE NOW BACK TO NORMAL…… LIKE…. im sorry but the childbaru has overstayed its welcome by the time we get to arc 8 imo 😭😭

character ask prompt: Reisen!

General opinion/How much I care about them: Admittedly I don't think about her very often, but she's still one of my favs from the IN cast and imo one of the best additions to the main games playable characters. I hope ZUN will bring her back sooner rather than later - ideally as a protag again, but I'd also be happy if she got another role in a print work. Ig she's appeared in a lot of those already but it's always fun to see her interact with characters outside of her usual circle so I want more!! Also the part in LoLK where she claims she isn't a moon rabbit anymore left a big impression on me back then. It was really heartwarming...

A ship I love: She bounces off other characters pretty well and I like to think she gets crushes easily, but there's never been That One Ship for me... I do enjoy art of her with Kaguya or Mokou since they're both some kind of 'noble/fighter' dynamic (though in very different flavors) and she works well enough with the other playables, and it's nice to imagine her being dotted on so in general I think she can easily be paired with older and/or imposing bosses (yeah I mean milves I GUESS....).

A non-romantic relationship that I love: The mentor/student relationship with Eirin is a big one here but it's already been explored a lot so I'll say I really want to see more of her with Seiran and Ringo. They all have complex feelings towards the moon so there's potential for a really good mess with a nice emotional payoff.

The NOTP: Eirin/Reisen as a romance is not my cup of tea

My biggest headcanon about them: I think she's more like a hare than a rabbit, so it's the same for her human form: tall, bony, with good leg muscles and she runs especially fast. She might've had a bit of a complex about it before and tried to change to fit in but she started loving herself more around the same time she realized she wasn't a moon rabbit anymore. Ok I can't make good metaphors but you get what I'm trying to say

An idea for a fanwork I would like to make/see about them: I would like to read a good fic or comic with Reisen and the other rabbits like I mentioned above, and for something I'd like to make... I think a little dress-up game with the rabbit girls would be the cutest thing ever :]

Something that makes me think of them: Wisteria flowers!!!

So I am reading more of LYF novel and well well well, this is like whump fanfic at this point.

Also glad to see 17 gets his glow up transformation moment in the novel too 😂

I realize everyone has their preferences and they are equally valid but I have the blood of too many generations of peasants in me to prefer palaces and underwater dates to a man who will do all my chores for me.

Also this just made me cackle as I am imagining our FL and her gang of trusty sidekicks as an actual gang.

I can see why the censors would have never let them have this exchange in the drama but it’s the best thing ever. Ahahaha Xiao Liu (but on a less joking note, this honestly shows how little she allows herself to understand love.) But also this is the first time we see the whole consistent pattern of elegant and proper 17 just be so adoringly amused by XY at her coarsest. (Makes me think of that epic scene in the drama at the King of Haoling banquet where she tears into that chicken like a starving dog and cousin is horror struck but 17 just sits there staring at her terrible table manners as if she’s hung the moon.)

OMG he is totally the high born wife to the boorish husband. I am pleased to see that the drama didn’t female-code him any harder than the novel itself did. Also, it’s pretty clear this man is totally 100% the dude who will hold your hair as you barf all night after drinking too much and then bring you hangover meds in the morning and still think you are the most amazing thing ever. How could I not go for this?

This is such a little throwaway moment but the first sign we get in the novel of her horrifying trauma. Who thinks something like that as a result of a mundane “I am gonna wait for you for a couple hours while you finish your chore” exchange? Someone madly traumatized that’s who.

OK yeah got to the part XL captured her and whipped her and walked on her wounds. The hate I feel! I wonder if that is why I never got super into him as a shipping choice? Like both he and cousin physically hurt her a lot and she may get over it but I as a reader am less laid back about it. But then got to this and (a) this is exactly like the drama and (b) all the reams and reams of meta about this and that but it all comes down to the fact that for whatever reason this scene (and other ones with 17) just hit all my particular favorite shippy dynamics. There it is.

I am swooning so hard.

At this point, I kinda adore our heroine for being dense enough to not realize he’s figured out she’s a woman.

Also I love her attempts to have conversations with him during all of this and she asks all these long questions and he provides monosyllabic answers. More and more my ideal man - he’s leave the lion’s share of conversation to me 😝

Anyway this novel is great and this translation is great!

PS not strictly related but I continue to be amused at our heroine and heroine of Colourful Bone finding the same way to get herself a husband. Find a terribly abused man at the brink of death and heal him and voila you get yourself the most devoted dude ever and with serious status at that.

How I feel about this character

shes so cute. obviously super similar to her dad and while i feel like she doesnt do the chuuni thing quite as well, i think its cute that its mostly in an attempt to emulate her father, the bestest guy in the world to her, which differentiates it from odin’s mannerisms that were formed as a coping mechanism. shes just very happy and i love that for her :)

All the people I ship romantically with this character

i remember really liking her with hisame at one point? i think i still do but i cannot tell you what their support is about. i forgot entirely. honestly, i need to brush up on the fates second gen because theyre a huge blank spot in my mind 😭 but like, conceptually, i also like her with shiro, caeldori, nina, forrest, and mitama. i just have to actually read those…

My non-romantic OTP for this character

i like her little trio with forrest and nina :) theyre so cute in heirs of fate… i wish we could see more of the second gen dynamic like that. in my head i also like her friendship with soleil, but… in terms of whats given to me in the game… its just… eugh.

My unpopular opinion about this character

i dont think she’s a better unit than odin in conquest. i guess it can depend on who her mom is, but odin is generally going to have much more survivability due to his defense and hp + joining you pretty early, making his role as a nostank reliable and costs zero effort. ophelia takes time, and ideally you want to hold off on getting her for skills/offspring seals. any early game build can be done with nyx or elise, to less potency maybe, but with way less effort especially now that the best way of support grinding (mycastle easy seize) is no longer possible. of course, you can use dlc maps but if you take dlc into account conquest is a whole different game.

One thing I wish had happened

how about something i wish didnt happen? her support with soleil is genuinely one of these most uncomfortable things i have ever read in fire emblem which is saying a lot! because the writing in these games suck! for the most part it is soleil’s problem and not ophelia’s, so maybe i shouldn’t be complaining about it here, but i dunno man. its just… its so bad. i cant even read it in game like it gets a physical reaction out of me and not a positive one.

How I feel about this character

i love her lots :) my savior on conquest and she had the best hair in the game. her supports are… pretty unfortunate most of the time but i think the ones that matter are really good and she’s a really sympathetic character when you get over intelligent systems not trusting in her enough to be popular and slapping the gooner bait “big sister” crap on her

All the people I ship romantically with this character

i really dont have a major preference for her? in game, i usually prefer pairings that give her a kid because 1) woag god stats and 2) her hair color is sooo good i cannot waste it. but in terms of just shipping, shes good with like. everyone. some supports are bad but i can get over most of them if i like the ship as a concept. but off the top of my head i like her with selena, beruka, takumi, saizo, peri, laslow, odin, niles, hinoka, charlotte, arthur, reina, probably more but. yeah shes versatile to me. godmilla

My non-romantic OTP for this character

leo!! all the nohr siblings really but i think camilla and leo specifically are just. they give me lots of brain worms. elise obviously wasnt born yet to exeprience the concubine wars, and as the heir and, iirc, the only legitimate son garon had, xander didn’t really get involved as much either. im sure it affected him, but he wasn’t there actually taking part in it. leo and camilla shoulder a lot for their siblings and i think its very interesting that despite it all, theyre probably the only people that can ever really understand what the other has been through. and i enjoy their supports too, with leo wanting camilla’s attention but not being willing to voice it, and camilla understanding that her smothering would probably just piss him off so she tries to avoid it, until they ultimately find a healthy medium and can start to kind of… work on their relationship with eachother after everything. i love them lots :)

yeah you're right about the ceo shinae thing. the idea briefly jumped into my mind, and i thought it would be interesting in context of yui being denied the position because she's a woman, to see a woman ultimately get it. but yeah on top of it being unrealistic plot-wise, girlboss megacorp ceo is a questionable conclusion for her character. let's scratch that ~

either way the ceo-question will remain relevant for the story because i doubt hirahara corp will fall… and i think ideally it should be someone with the right motivations. to defy yui/take the company from her/to get revenge/out of spite wouldn't be good enough reason because… then what? tbh what i can see happen is that someone reforms the company or at least makes sure these cycles of power abuse don't repeat. it wouldn't solve everything obviously since it's a systematic issue, the problem is ✨capitalism✨ etc etc but it'd be at least something. and between kousuke and nol, i think kou would suit this task more (given he manages to break free from yui), maybe even as a way to redeem himself and "repair" his family reputation. at least this would give him more agency and a better motivation to lead the company than rand's love. it would also tie in with what you said about following the path yui intended, but to turn around and defy her. nol really is a big question mark when it comes to the future plot. yu jing's article will likely spark change in him, but in what way exactly is still unclear. gosh all this is making me so excited for season two and where everyone will be in a couple of years i'm vibrating at a frequency that could shatter glass thinking about it ahhhh!!!!

"She's never really seemed to like things coming to her easy has she" this is actually so interesting. right, her life is already so tough, no one could blame her for choosing the "easier" path or for being like "sorry i can't do this" re: nol. but instead, she's actively throwing herself into this turbulent sea. it's admirable how committed to the role reversal she is (and obviously it's what driving their dynamic forward at the moment).

and while i enjoy how they intuitively get each other on a deeper emotional level, i LOVE that it's not all there is to them. it's true that it's an important additional layer that other pairings don't have, but even without it, they have that easy chemistry, the friendly banter, compatible personalities, similar values... the gradual friendship buildup was not based on their trauma at all (shin was completely clueless). it helps make it less, well, trauma bond-y lol. and it gives us a little "taster" of what this ship could be like too once they're both in a better place ~ it just bothers me when people are like "all nol does is hurting her how is this romantic" and yes he is hurting her and it's an issue, and no one says this particular detail is romantic! but to claim that that's all he does or that it's always going to be like this is just... silly :< maybe it's because of the way nol has been lately (really going through it) - and by lately i mean like the last 80 chapters or so lmao - that some people forget all the positive things he's done - and is still capable of doing - for shinae. like he was the one who made her open up to people again, sparked this character growth in her which improved her other relationships (like with her father, rika, maya, minhyuk), was her emotional support when she was at her lowest (at the formal), had her back at the office, he metaphorically and literally saved her from drowning! shinae even describes him as the sunshine in her rainy life. speaking of which, that entire segment was actually so funny fgshdjk shinae was like "today is about minhyuk! 😊" and meanwhile nol lives in her head rent-free all day 😭 minhyuk: "so maya and m-" shin: "have i ever told u what yeonggi was like? he appeared and suddenly everything was much more vibrant" minhyuk: "🤨?" like girl at this point just write him a love letter 😭

I always assume my followers really like our conversations anyway, because they tend to get a little handful of likes depending on the topic and the tangents we end up going on lmao but AAHHHH yessss look at us, two back to back messages and replies in two days?! Love this for us!!!!! One of the funnest things about replying to you is I feel like we really play off of each other's energy and you come to me brimming with all sorts of fun thoughts and I'm like OH MY GOSH LEMME RUN WITH THIIISSSSS!!!!!

This response touches on some more spoilery things from the last FP episodes so if you don't FP, there will be spoilers!

From a narrative point, I DO love the concept of CEO Shinae in how she is the antithesis of Yui! But a belief I've been hanging on to lately is that where Yui is shadow and darkness, dragging people down into her little pits of nightmare, blinding them to anything but their own struggles and strife, Shinae is the light that illuminates and guides the way. So even if becoming CEO is really not in the cards for her, I think we still get a similar narrative effect in her being able to assist someone else, in being able to shed light on what Yui cloaks in darkness. The conflict at the core of the story is so complex and layered, but I think Shinae as an illuminator strongly benefits team black.

Fortunately we see that Kousuke is starting to peek out from under his blindfold right now, but I'm really worried for how he's going to cope with the fall out - if he comes to the realization that it's true, Nol was never the violent one the way he's been made to believe (and to deeply internalize that belief!) then how will that affect him? All the guilt it will leave him with for how he treated Nol, for the way not only has he viewed him but what he's told others of Nol? That, paired with what he's already realized, that he hurt an innocent kid for no reason, he tore him down and made his life hell and refused to let him ever get ahead, ever have a moment of peace, has GOT to be heavy. And it doesn't even touch on what it means for him that he can't even trust his own mother, that everything she's ever said to him or made him belief, every way she's ever shaped his worldview may in fact be wrong.

Would Shinae be able to help future Kousuke to cope and handle that? Not like, emotional labor help but her unique way of bringing light to a situation that helps them see something else. I mean obviously Kousuke is gonna lmao need some therapy or SOMETHING but I wonder if Shinae would be able to help illuminate for Kousuke that despite everything he's done, he CAN change, he can take agency of his own life, and he can work to bring good where he and his mother have brought bad.

I think, yeah, that's a really good concept about Kousuke being CEO. I know ultimately we'd all like to see Kousuke do what he wants to, be what he wants, find something that brings him joy and passion. It's clear he's good at family business, even if he lacks the personability that Rand and Nol possess. But it always feels like he's trying to tell himself that this is what he wants because deep down he knows it's not, because deep down it doesn't bring him joy. That said, it could be that this is the case because despite all his successes, he wasn't earning the pay off he expected. No matter how smart or good or successful he was, Rand didn't give him the attention - the affection - he sought. So if he took ownership of the company with the explicit reason to keep it out of the hands of Yui, to try to make changes to offset what the the Hirahara family had done, could that give him the passion he needs?

On the one hand, it almost sounds suffocating and smothering. I love the thought of double-agent Kousuke, secretly working with team black to realign the power of the company right under Yui's nose, but also I worry what dealing with her will be like for him when he really starts to grapple with the way she's treated, whenever he finds out she's drugging him, whenever it finally clicks to him that she's never treated him with care. To have to work with her and pretend he's on her side, to pretend he doesn't know all of the things he knows. It sounds so awful and unbearable. But if he truly wants to try to fix things in whatever way he's able to, perhaps it would be worth it.

Cos you're right, I don't think it would necessarily fall, either. Depending on what comes out of Yujing's expose, it could harm their name, but it wouldn't dismantle them in the least. The problem remains that those with money and influence rarely deal with the ramifications of what they do, rarely are punished. They exploit others, take advantage of them, often pointedly mess with peoples' lives and after those people are rendered broken, traumatized, they carry on like nothing is wrong. I think that could be a direction the story would go - that it's difficult to dismantle corrupted power, but if Kousuke could divert the corruption, if he could steer the company in a more ethical direction, gut the corrupt from the ladders of power? I like that idea! I think a lot about where I think this is going to go, because while I'm sure Yujing's expose WILL have some kind of effect, the fact that the story is going to reconvene some years after the effect still means that the story isn't over, the conflict still exists. Yui is SO powerful, and the corruption of the affluent is too prevalent for peace to come easily.

I really like the idea that this could be a solid way for Kousuke to redeem himself and the family name, too. I don't deny that he still has negative traits despite his circumstances. He has believed himself above others, as much as he thinks he's trying to emulate the perfect gentleman Rand believes in Kousuke is still lmao pretty rude and cold. But I think earnestly working to undo what his mother has done, to make up for what she's done would be a really wonderful path for his story. I don't expect Kousuke's personality to change very much, but I think watching him make effort, to try to make up for the terrible things his family has done would be really satisfying. Something Shinae has noted about him is that he's very clearly out of touch with reality lmao, he has very little experience with people outside of his socioeconomic stratosphere, but perhaps his "redemption" arc could include him spending time with the people he was always kept separate from, learning to be a better CEO the way Rand has, but for his own motivation, not for Rand's love. I love that, actually? Who would be better for that role, to remold his lifelong dream and make it for himself, find a way to actually love and care about what he does, for it to be fulfilling for him? aaaaahhhhhh! Also!!!! Back to the point I was getting at lmaooo for all his negative traits, Kousuke is NOT his mother. He may have adopted some of her habits and that will be something he'll have to address and deal with in the future. But we've seen that Kousuke is not the sum of his family. For him to acknowledge how horrible Yui is, the track record of the Kims, the ways people have been hurt and decide to make up for it all, to undo what he can, to actually adhere to moral codes? idk I wanna see that so badly! He's not a lost cause, but he IS lost.

Also I absolutely feel Yujing's expose will be THE spark for Nol. Right now I think he just wants to get away, to be free of Kousuke and Rand and Yui, to go away and find peace. He's still haunted by the guilt he feels about what happened to his mom, still strongly believes that it's because of him, that he caused this, that the bad things happen because of him. But if learns what readers believe, that Yui was behind Nessa's death, that it may not have been a suicide at all? My GOD that changes EVERYTHING for Nol. I don't think it would immediately free him from the guilt he feels, since it's so deeply ingrained in him, but I think it could change enough. For now his goal is to escape, but taking down Yui could be the reason he comes back/remains in the future. Seeing her pay for her crimes could be enough to make him work with the people he wants to escape from. But also I do hope it would help him to process his feelings about his mom, to embrace that he was not the monster he's been made to feel, that the things that happened were so beyond his grasp, and maybe help him to build/foster healthy relationships. To allow himself to be cared about ;A; aaaahhhh feelings!

Also I feel you SO MUCH on that hope!!!! I think Nol kept trying for so long - even up to the night of his hearing - because he so badly wanted Kousuke to be that person, wanted him to forget about father and instead be a team with him. Nol has never had those expectations about Rand that Kousuke did, so it was easier for him to see that, as far as they're concerned, that version of Rand doesn't exist. Instead he sought out the only person who shared commonality with him. I think if Kousuke turns around and shows some of that same persistence with Nol, it would help get through to him. Forgiveness would be difficult and if it never happened, I would fully understand. But I like to hope that a Nol who has grown up a little more and has removed himself a bit could see why Kousuke, being drugged by his mom and having his entire perception of reality warped, would have been so impossible to reach. The shared experience of having their lives made miserable by Yui and wanting to make her pay for what she's done for others and more importantly, wanting to dismantle her ability to further harm others, would be a great starting point. But I just cannot help but hope that from teaming up like that, Nol could find some understanding for him.

A moment I think about a lot LMAO is the episode when Shinae called Rand hot in front of Kousuke and Nol, and while she was in the bathroom changing, Nol was just lmao harping on it and it felt like the closest we've ever seen Kousuke and Nol to being brothers. To getting along. I just!!!! IDK like you I'm hovering over these little crumbs, hoarding them away and just WAITING. I used to think I'd be content with peace, because they desperately need it but.... now I can't help but want a little more. Nol deserves the brother he wanted so badly and Kousuke deserves to know that someone cared about him, even if he shoved him away. There's a lot to work on and I don't think any of it comes easily but, yessss I desperately hope!

(Also fun fact LMAO I, too, have talked about the get along shirt and alfjafjkjkafjf a really sweet fanartist in the ILY Discord server has put it on her list of things to draw!!!!!! PLEASE I so badly want to see Nol and Kousuke in the get along shirt!!!!!!!!)

A theory I've been seeing a lot of people talk about is that Kousuke might end up at the same hospital as Nol to get checked out. Hansuke is concerned about his hormonal balance and wants to get him a head CT. I'm hoping that Kousuke's suspicious feelings about Yui might lead him to a different doctor - does Hansuke's friend work at Hirahara Memorial? Or might Kousuke inadvertantly wind up at the same hospital as Nol? See Nana or Shinae or even later Dieter and Soushi in the waiting room and realize that it must mean that Nol is here and go on a search? Like, I'm really holding out for something like that, too. Kousuke is concerned - no matter what happened during the night, his concern didn't change. I had been so worried that Rand's presence would undo all of the progress Kousuke made, the realizations he came to, but I think yeah this is a GOOD sign. Even when Yui tries to refute his concern, he remains CONCERNED. (And without quite realizing it yet, he's connected that Nol hates tea and now he is being haunted by it....????)

Oh my gosh RIGHT? That's the thing, too, about Nol hurting Shinae at this stage. It's so clear that Shinae is committed, even if she doesn't understand WHY. Even if she hasn't really accepted just what his importance to her is, what he means to her. Even though he's hurt her, she's SO committed. She wants to get through to him - and she wants to see him. The real him, not his mask. She wants to see what he hides and she wants to be privy to who he is.

But YES what really makes episodes 215 through 219 SO special is exactly that - getting to see just who they are together. The banter, the way they play off each other, his dumb jokes and how she pretends to hate it but we can see that she enjoys it, the little looks?! It's that he can feel at peace even in a hospital because she's there, because she can make him laugh, because she can chase away the danger because it's her! It's the way she lit up with joy while they danced, even if that moment hurts SO MUCH, because of how much fun she was having, how much she enjoyed it! It's how she brought in their friends to give him the most special birthday ever, by showing him how much they care about hm. It was such a small thing, calling them, the origami ducks, the paper hats, but it means SO MUCH.

The way they interact is just SO!!! GOOD!!!! One of my favorite moments is after he sneezed on her and she's just like DISGUSTING!!!!!! and that whole conversation about why Lil Buddy is even there lmaooooo idk why but it's SO FUNNY seeing them like that, the dumb faces, calling each other out lmao I've missed it so much, and even though Nol is struggling with accepting peoples' care and being loved, I really look forward to when we get to see them like that again - bantering and the playful bickering and that chemistry of how they play right off each other.

And that's the thing, too, right - like okay first off, when you start liking someone it's not like a whole.... here's a weighted list of good things vs bad things. It's that for her, at this time, what he does clearly has outweighed the ways he's hurt her. It's that what he means is rooted in far more than the right now, the pain. But also, that's the other thing - NO RELATIONSHIP IS PERFECT. People hurt each other, all the time. Minhyuk hurt Shinae even when his very intentions were the opposite. Shinae has hurt Dieter without meaning to. It's how you work through it, how you make up for it, how you get over it that matters more. Nol seemed to really regret pushing Shinae this time - he expected her to be angry or upset, but he didn't expect her to actually leave, and he's so concerned about her! Even though his whole thing is that he isn't supposed to care he can't help caring, asking Dieter about her, wringing her headband in his hands. Like, call me a hopeful optimist but I think we WILL get to see Nol and Shinae again before he goes off to prison. There's no way they're ending on this note - firstly because from a narrative point it would defeat the whole point of the previous reunion at the Parks and would leave us right where we started, but also because I think we might get to see Nol make the first step. I think maybe Shinae will come back - even if just to retrieve her headband lmao - and hopefully Nol will use that moment to apologize, to acknowledge he hurt her and maybe, hopefully lmao admit that's not what he wants to do? alfjakjfkjafjfa lmao like

idk yeah I get why on the one hand, even if you don't ship Stalkyoo there are people who want Nol and Alyssa to break up - because she keeps hurting him without repent, and seemingly without caring much if she does, or at least not in a way she acknowledges. I bring this up to say I think that's the difference - Nol feels regret for what he's doing and I'm really hopeful we'll see him take responsibility. And that's why it doesn't bother me to continue to ship it - because if he actually takes action, if he wants to do better (even if he won't at this time admit his feelings) that's what matters.

But also yeah the trauma bond is like.... I like to joke about it because what happened at the formal WAS a whole nightmare, but it's really clear that Shinae had been changing how she thinks of Nol even before he was her place of comfort and security at the formal. She felt bad when she thought she was too harsh on him during her break! How far she'd come from cleanly, bluntly rejecting Dieter because it's better to be firm to caring about when she hurts people, caring if she goes too far. It's not that the trauma of what happened at the formal is WHY she came to care about him otherwise wouldn't she feel closer to Kousuke? Like, yeah obviously the trauma brought Shinae closer to Nol, but it was the other things he did, too - getting her away from Alyssa when it was clear she was uncomfortable, retrieving her jacket for her during her dance with Kousuke, the whole going out of his way to make her more comfortable during the dance.

Reducing their relationship to trauma bonding denies the actual friendship development that's occurred as a result of each other caring - of Shinae picking up on the details no one else notices, the way he got her to open up more about her home life, calling him when she was so concerned that what everyone on tv and online was saying about him would be making him feel bad, comforting her even when he's trying to avoid her, the whole fucking scene at the wac lmao

Like, I'm not saying this to make people ship them, but just to note that trying to act like they are merely the result of a traumatic night and that they wouldn't have developed as friends otherwise is unfair. Acting like their entire relationship is just unhealthy trauma bonding instead of acknowledging the genuine reasons they've grown closer to each other and come to rely on each other is unfair. At least give their relationship the credit it deserves for how it's bloomed in the midst of all the cracks ;A;

fuck i didn't think anyone would understand what i meant by ship of theseus. ok. ok. obligatory disclaimer i am late to yogs fandom and also have pretty much only watched flux buddies. under cut just in case (i take a couple potshots at various fanon things including ech/oble, sorry)

i don't think we have fully sufficient proof for him being a cannibal specifically of the enjoys it variety. while i'm sure he got the name Lalnable Hector from somewhere i think it's a lot more interesting to explore avenues other than just "oh yeah he loves eating people he does it all the time"

i don't know exactly how to characterize him and five's dynamic but i feel pretty confident in saying that "fucked up evil codependent romance" is NOT the right vibe. maybe it's just weirdness from "he literally made five from a tube" but i've always seen them as more. weird uncle and your equally weird cousin once removed that are the same age even though one of them is a full generation "younger"

everyone forgets lalnable has canon voice dysphoria. why does everyone forget this. he uses a voice changer because he is uncomfortable with the way his voice is pitched. he is SO trans coded. yes this also means that every lalna is trans by proxy i know what im about

i feel like people need to do more with the fact that he was locked in a box in yoglabs for [unspecified period of time] after helping with the cloning project. he finished being useful. he saw what was happening and tried to stop it. he was erased from history and disgraced for it and LOCKED IN A BOX--

really lalnable is like. i think he's a more nuanced character than he seems to have been given credit for. i'm not saying he doesn't have aspects of "insane murderhobo mad scientist" to him but i think those mannerisms may be a little bit more deliberate and intentional than people give them credit for. this also obviously means he's not just Pure Evil that part is yoglabs propaganda

lalnable is doing a Bit. he's doing the Evil Bit because it's the only unique sense of identity he has remaining in a world where he has been wholly replaced by countless doppelgangers from a project he helped run, working for people he thought he could trust. he clings to the things that make him unique even if they're traits that were leveraged to villainize him because at least then that proves he was an individual to begin with.

and the number one opinion:

lalnable hector is absolutely the original i cannot stress this enough not only does he literally say it in the 2.0 finale but the entire arc of flux buddies as a series and anything meaningful it would have to say about identity and self-idealization is fully kneecapped if you think lalnable is a clone. he is not a clone he is the original lalna. that's the entire point of his character in a meta sense he is a question of identity he is the brand new ship of theseus he is the first simon jarett he is the shape echoed in the funhouse mirror distortions of all the lalna clones. he may not have always been lalnable hector, but he was the original lalna.

in the god complex where the doctor amy and rory all get startled by people showing up and everyone is talking at once and the doctor goes IVE NEVER BEEN THREATENED WITH A TABLE LEG BEFORE! NO WAIT I TELL A LIE…. while rory is going ITS OKAY, WE’RE NICE! and amy looks at him like hes insane. i find it very funny

when ten sacrifices himself to save wilf but first he has to have a little mental breakdown about it because he knows what the right thing to do is but he’s also kind of fucked in the head and feels like he deserves to live. and then as hes very slowly dying of radiation poisoning we get that kinda cheesy montage that goes on WAY too fucking long of him doing little secret things to help out all the companions he’s had since the start of the revival series and it’s so self indulgent and wrung out and it kinda slaps

theres so many others and probably a lot of scenes i like way more than these but these r the first ones that came to mind so i will restrain myself

basically i hope for a future where doctor who writers actually take to heart the whole “Moving Forward and Embracing Change” part of the show. if you bring back stuff that hasn’t appeared since classic who be sure you’re DOING something with it that means anything and not just going “Look! This species still… exists!”. write good stories instead of having recognizable villains show up because they’re recognizable. and FORGET ABOUT THE TENTH DOCTOR ERA ALREADY. DAVID TENNANT WAS GOOD. HIS DOCTOR WAS GOOD. MOST OF THE SHOW FROM THEN IS GOOD. AND ITS OVER. ITS BEEN OVER FOR TEN YEARS. STOP MILKING THE TENTH DOCTOR AND PUTTING ALL THE FOCUS ON HIM. PLEASE. PL

One Piece Shipping War - Round 1 Side B

Propaganda for Smoker x Law:

Their interactions on punk hazard are just hhhhnnnggghhhh. First they fight against each other and then they have to team up! The sexual tension is through the roof 👀 and they fight so well together too 👀 also law LITERALLY stole smoker's heart?? Sorry for being incoherent that's just what they do to me

I read it in a fic and it was compelling also it would be cool if they both knew rocinante

Law literally stole Smoker’s heart during the Punk Hazard Arc - they saved each other during the Punk Hazard Arc even if they were enemies - classic “Enemies to lovers” energy - perfect matching personalities (INTP x INTJ) - the thrill of a forbidden love between a marine and a pirate.

They have. SUCH a divorcee dynamic listen. - Law literally stole Smoker’s heart in the Punk Hazard arc. - Even though they were enemies, Smoker fought against Vergo and stole Law’s heart to give it back to him, hurting himself A LOT. - at the same time, Law saved Smoker from Vergo and gave Smoker’s heart back even if he didn’t have to. - the way Law smiles when fighting against him and getting on Smoker’s nerves (a lot of tension here hehe). - Smoker’s a marine and Law a pirate, what’s better than a forbidden relationship? - their personalities match perfectly (INTJ and INTP).

SUCH a divorcee dynamic. - we all love a forbidden romance between marine and pirate - the way they interact with each other on Punk Hazard is at the same time easy but full of tension, they clearly have some familiarity w each other - ...and then later they manage to work together seamlessly despite those tensions and differences, and Smoker trusts Law to pick up the slack where he can't. And Law DOES follow through - after the battle Law TELLS Smoker what he's planning next - yeah it's all purposeful for his plans but it's such a clear and obvious manipulation. And yet Smoker does exactly that. - the guy sent to Dressrosa is Issho (which ok Sakazuki says he sent BUT what a funny coincidence still that it's the one guy who's most likely to help Law rather than hinder hmmmm) - when Doffy shows up after Law&co have left and demands to know things Smoker just straight up stonewalls him and lies to his face, with the full knowledge that it may cost him his life. Which yeah, Smoker hates pirates, but he doesn't actually have any reason to do that - if he really didn't care he wouldn't mind siccing the two warlords on each other and watching them destroy themselves so he at the very least must agree with Law if not outright want to help him - delicious narrative parallels! Bc fundamentally they're two sides of the same coin: both are absolutely driven by their personal moral codes and care DEEPLY about people and things. Law may be driven largely by more self-centered goals and focus his good on the smaller circle he chooses to surround himself with, while Smoker is drawn to more lofty pursuits of greater good and helping even those he will never meet or even know of, but at the core they share very similar ideals and values - and ykno. Law LITERALLY punches Smoker's heart out of his chest - also Law is a scrawny-ass twink and you cannot tell me he doesn't have a thing for buff dilfs who could bench press double his weight.

Propaganda for Doflamingo x Law:

Okay this one's fucked up, i know, but i can't help but feel like doffy wants law for more than just him being his corazon (and for his powers). If things had gone just SLIGHTLY differently in the past, law would've probably been manipulated into being his right-hand man (and maybe more)

Listen.... This is one of my fav ships for a reason ok? I drew at least one shippy doodle of them for a reason ok? It beats me how fandom slept on the potential of the TWO (2) Mensis Scholars, whereas one of them ends up going AGAINST concealment of Mensis Ritual mind you (Damian helps you to defeat Rom!).

In my mind they are close. As in, in my official (?) timeline, Damian and Micolash are 'Micolash lost his virginity to Damian in Byrgenwerth' close. But also ships with Micolash are doomed to be at least somewhat unhealthy, huh? So yeah I'd rather call it enjoying the potential of a raw angst and development, rather than seeing it as a romantic ideal ofc. But just like everyone in Bloodborne, they had a shot for genuinely happy dynamic back before things went to Hell.

Needless to mention that there is also a fair potential for them having father/son relationship, hence why I picked 'platonic' option as well! I just enjoy them more as lovers is all. But I guess fate of humanity in general was more important for Damian than approval of his morally questionable bf fsdhfhds (fair enough)

hii hehe, thanks for going to the effort to compile that mini list, but nah. i‘m really comfy where i‘m at (´∀｀;) i‘m head over heels for kiribaku, and while the manga (although i don‘t read it i let tumblr spoil me from time to time so i know a bit about how they act now and that bakugou‘s atoning etc) doesn‘t make me uncomfy with the idea of them getting together later in life anymore, like, i see the appeal.........ish? and i do think their dynamic is very interesting and that they‘ll become really important to each other, like, in my personal (head?)canon they‘ll love each other and do so completely but like in a familial way. inseparable but not always together, no idea if that makes sense at all but to me it does hehe. i‘m in love love love with kiribaku‘s dynamic too though and a romantic or queerplatonic relationship with the two of them together forever cause they‘re meant to beeee just feels like the natural progression of their bond to me, and luckily fanartists like them a lot too haha, so even if hori doesn‘t focus on them much anymore, i‘m still well fed lol. but yeah! when i look at your art i can see the characters you draw are head over heels for each other and i wish them all the best hehe, i just kind of think of them as not exactly bakudeku? (i know they are and i‘m not trying to disrespect that or anything, but cause i can‘t see them that way i just end up thinking wow this green haired dude and this blond dude are so pretty and in love good for them good for them!!! 💖💖💖 hope you don‘t mind lol) (like i recognize them as bakudeku but they don‘t feel quite like the canon characters to me cause i just personally rly can‘t seem to see them that way, so these two exist solely in your art to me lol) oh and i can see hori making them hero partners but imma respeccfully think to myself that it‘s kiribaku instead haha. or maybe bakudeku are hero partners but kiribaku opened the agency together, orrr maybe it’s this one day but these two go on a mission or patrol together the nexttt idkk haha. god, rly sorry for the ramble!! yeah, your art is mindbogglingly beautiful either way! :D

ok! glad u're comfy where u're at, and that u're not discouraged by the lack of kiribaku content lately ^^' i like the ship too but it can get tuff constantly shipping it when there's no recent canon material, even with the help of fan artists heh.

yepyep my depiction of bkdk is obviously an idealized version; since nothing in the series is canon it's always fun to draw ur ships interacting the way u'd like them to :) i wonder what an "exactly bakudeku" interpretation would be in ur eyes since fandom and fan content is all about interpreting characters and ships in ur own individual way. i'm sure there's no one way to have an "exactly kiribaku" interpretation either, since they are also not canon. things to think about! i'd argue that having ur own takes on unspecified things (like how characters/relationships work outside of what's canonically shown) is the point of any kind of literary/media analysis or even just simple engagement.

but anyway i'm glad u like my art! and i recommend continuing the manga too if u like the series, not just for ships but for other things like the art! i'm really crazy about horikoshi's art style lol it's like 50% why i keep reading the series

y’know what, same, the Mood is here, let’s see how much I can write before I fall over (also I’m myself so this is more thoughts on the relationship dynamics (general) than the relationship dynamics (ship specific, for the most part, but maybe some of that will appear? IDK it’s 2 am) (post I’m replying to is here! making a new one for reply bc Wow That’s Long, but do go look, it’s got lovely synopsis thoughts about all the Ami/Ami pairs, ALL OF THEM)

Prouvaire and Bahorel - eeey yeah of course I have papersfull of Thoughts on this one:P I think I’ve said it before, but I always imagine their relationship as being very much built on Yes And--it’s the nature of the branch of Romanticism they’re both grown from. And while that makes them ,as you say, A Lot to everyone else, it makes hanging out together feel exceptionally easy and unpressured to them-- here’s someone who will not tell them to Calm Down or Be Practical or dial it back even one bit, or blink and ask terrible mood-killing questions like “why though” when they have a Brilliant Scheme. Yes they’re dueling each other at midnight with rapiers on the roof of Notre Dame, no it doesn’t mean they’ve had a falling out, do you have any idea how much coordination this duel took to set up? Also I think they’re sort of quietly and subtly set up as a sublime/grotesque duo, like Enjolras and Grantaire-- but a functional one, united and not divided by them both sharing a devotion to the Ideal (which is, of course, Romanticism). Melancholy and laughter/ comedy, one priest-coded and devoted to the Grand Ideas, and one a hedonistic walking scandal deep into the life of the street--but they come to the barricade together, apart from the Quartet of Enjolras-Combeferre-Courfeyrac-Feuilly, and they die in the same attack (with wounds that amazingly echo Enjolras and Grantaire, yet--the priest-prophet type taken out with a volley of bullets, the earthier member of the duo taken out with one fatal strike) . They can’t know the Death Thing of course (,..but they would doubtless be Very Satisfied, that is indeed somewhat the point of that) , but given the mutual Romanticism, there is a seriously nonzero chance they talk about each other this way by mutual agreement.

Feuilly and Bahorel - man it took me forEVer to come to any solid grasp of how I think they’d interact but then I learned more about French Romanticists and especially French Romanticist Republicans and the Polish cause and like. Oh. OOOOOHHHH OK, Yeah, They Get Along GREAT, mutual Outrage About Politics buddies. I feel like--given their mutual and undoubtable level of political commitment-- Feuilly, with his extreme earnestness and borderline baffling faith in humanity, would actually balance well with Bahorel’s greater snarkiness and Old Campaigner jadedness about some aspects of life. It’s a good vibe? I like the idea of it. ...Pretty much no one who writes them together writes them like this, but it’s how I see them and in that framework I dig it :P

Enjolras and Bahorel- gad I’ve come around to being fascinated by this relationship precisely because they aren’t , by all signs, a particularly load-bearing relationship for each other. They aren’t completing and correcting each other, they aren’t two sides of the same coin, they aren’t Domestic Partners Sharing Everything, they aren’t super invested in each others’ social lives or personal non-revolution activities, they’re not each others’ living Ideal of anything. They’re just. Friends with a shared goal who’ve been through a lot together because of that shared goal. It’s a good kind of friendship to have! And when I say that, I think they share that goal in a specific emotional way the others don’t ; they’re the two Lifers of the Revolution. They’ve both given their lives to the actual, practical combat-and-conspiracy act of it to a degree I don’t think the rest of the Amis have. Bahorel’s been doing the Street Revolutionary thing for over a decade ; he is literally introduced in his first line with that. Enjolras is younger and hasn’t been active as long, but he’s made it his whole existence. I think that (potentially!) gives them a point of understanding that’s unique to them among their friends.

Enjolras and Joly- I feel like this is a friendship where they don’t really “ get “ each other at all-- Joly is about as far from Enjolras’ High Idealism as he can get and still be Not Grantaire-- but are still nonetheless very fond of each other. Lots of “ are ya winning, buddy?” confused but sincere encouragement on both sides. Also fascinating to me that Joly, not Combeferre, is the friend that Enjolras associates most with Science!

Combeferre and Joly- oh geez I need to go to bed but I can’t not talk about these two now I think?? They’re definitely both medical students (for at least a while!), they’ve obviously got a ton of shared interests (scientific progress! the workings of the human body! Maybe Polyamory In a Utopian Socialist Way??) and they do both serve as something of the Dreamer in their respective wings of the group, but at the same time I feel like the difference between them is really summed up in that moment on the barricade when Combeferre is agonizing over life, death, and the moral cost of killing and Joly’s cheerfully asserting that cats are proof of a loving god. Both are extremely understandable, to be clear! just wow, on a fundamental personality level they see the world in SUCH different ways? Their conversations are probably very in -sync so long as they’re talking about science and progress and then veer wildly into the weeds if they get into PhilosophyXD

Combeferre and Grantaire- oh hey it’s the raging Tire Fire of Doubt!! both of them are drawn to more decisive and pragmatic people ( and especially to the same decisive and pragmatic person, yet) and Combeferre especially surrounds himself with the people most likely to be direct and focused in a way that’s helpful for the guy whose impulse in a shooting battle is to start musing on the humanity of his opponent. Seriously, it took me a while to notice this, but with the obvious exception of Marius, everyone that Combeferre specifically gets dialogue with--Enjolras, Courfeyrac, Bahorel, Feuilly- is someone who is ..I’ll say “ not real prone to getting bogged in Doubt and Moderation” . And on the other side, the people that Grantaire hangs out with most are...well, gentle and patient with fools , in a way that Combeferre really isn’t but that Grantaire clearly needs. The two of them are , obviously, friends, but I can’t see them seeking one-on-one hangout time often.
