I love Shou sm cuz every time he shows up he has such a powerful impact on everything, boy is a walking game changer, the calm before the storm personified, a wild card on two short feet, three seasons straight and his introduction scenes has everyone holding their breaths, he's so unpredictable and unsettling and I'm living for it

a hc that i have now just accepted in my mind as fact is that tkb and yami bakura are separate.
tkb: the sole survivor of a senseless massacre, who has so much pent-up agony and rage toward everyone that fed off the death of his people, that it called to a primordial god to use his hatred in their plans for world extinction.
yami bakura: zorc, the blood magic remnants of the millennium items’ creation, and the last shreds of tkb’s vengeful fury shoved into a blender and pulsed until reaching a smooth, paté consistency.

so, this may seem completely random to some, but.
since i have decided not to log in on tumblr/stay off the tag for the next couple of days, until i am able to watch the third season- personal choice i don't need distractions from doing some work/school stuff, a.k.a. my curiosity having the upper hand and me ending up spoiling myself, lol- i want to wish everyone in the fandom happy watching, whenever you do so.
i am aware we still have one week for the finale plus the documentary, but i just want to say, despite not seeming to be a very active member of the fandom and lurking in the shadows, these almost (key word: almost, hehe) three years of being a part of this whole thing, which was one of the reasons i decided to create a tumblr account (a year too late, haha) in the first place, have been wonderful- with the exception of very few incidents i won't bring up right now.
even though i may not always show it by rebloging and the like, i am always amazed by the way people put the puzzle pieces together, by their wittiness and their humour, by their talent and creativity- and by our collective decision of learning/trying to learn swedish at some point, lol. so, from a stranger on the internet who happens to love the same show as you, you guys (gender neutral) rock. this show, in spite of being the amazing, inspiring, heart-breaking and heart-warming creation that it is, wouldn't be the same without any one of you- and i am not saying us, because the only thing i have contributed in the past years is screamingcryingthrowingup over the characters' breathing. lol.
i don't want this to seem like a goodbye to the show post, because it's always going to be there, and, as some may say, it's just a show. but the thing is, it doesn't really feel like just a show sometimes. personally, i'll keep posting about it from my deathbed. and i cannot wait for the actors and the whole crew's projects about to come. they are very talented and promising and wonderful.
i watched young royals a "rainy" day of july 2021. back then, i don't think i realised how important it would be to me. to many people around the globe of course, not to seem selfish here.
so, happy watching, y'all (i am not american, i just unironically like y'all, haha). this fandom (a 99% majority of it, anyway) has been and will always be great and so freaking funny- i am so looking forward to the memes created by the scenes of the (not-so-little-anymore) dramatic swedish show we love and cherish like our baby.
till the end of the week where you'll see me losing my mind over everything*,
i hope you have a nice watching.
*also, this post is a formal apology to the mutuals and the people whose posts i'll reblog. i'll try not to be insufferable. not promising anything, though. hehe.

Doing research of actual solar flares to compare it to the character Solar Flare and I’m so intrigued??? Like I’m definitely reading into things too much, but solar flares are much more intense and energetic than Solar Flare is. yk?
Solar flares are giant bursts of energy from the sun that can interfere with radio signals, cause blackouts, and are the main reason the northern lights exist, so to me, it would make sense that a character with the name “Solar Flare” would have a personality to match, yeah? Loud or brash or excitable or just generally a pretty bright character!
But Solar Flare wasn’t ever really finished, nor given the ability to fully develop a personality. So while solar flares may be able to match Solar Flare in terms of ability—they did say they could do anything they were asked of—they don’t really match in terms of vibe!
Which, again, I’m likely overthinking it because I’m abnormal about Solar Flare, what if there’s a brighter timeline where Solar Flare is fully built and allowed to form a sense of self? What if there’s a world where Solar Flare has a personality of their own, and it’s just as bright and intense as an actual solar flare would be?
Personally I think that would be delightful so yk

When I approach Yelan (or anyone else I've written), I don't just look directly at her character, but I also look at her surroundings. Both the ones that she knows by some semblance of necessity, but also those that she chooses. Like here, I talked about the Chasm, and what being 'okay' with existing down there needs to mean for a character, because it's not normal. Someone's surroundings, room, or home say a lot bout who they are and what their mindset, or specifically, their perspective is of the world. And sometimes, I think it says more about people than even the characters realize.
This brings me to the topic of the city of Fontaine. Now, I personally think it's rather obvious that a lot of the nation takes from historical France, and so when looking at it, I think it really adds to remember its monarchy, the view that the 'common folk' had of it, and its inevitable demise to non-existence today in terms of importance as a result. So my first question is, who constructed or decided on its layout? Was it Furina, Neuvillette, Egeria? Whoever it was, there's a lot that can be said about their view of the world and their placement in it when you look at locations of buildings. Look at where Palais Mermonia, its governing body, is located within the city; it sits at a rather astounding elevation in comparison to, well, everything and everyone else in the city. This frequently represents the concept of 'distance' between groups in one way or another, and seeing the consistency in other nations, this is something that is rather intriguing to me, especially keeping Fontaine's characters in mind (and considering this is the nation of 'justice'). Mondstadt has everything almost entirely uniform, with arguably the church on the highest level (but it isn't greatly elevated in comparison to all else), but it's joined with the plaza and statue which are a common gathering site for all people in the city. Liyue had the gods and adepti visibly living among the humans back in the days of the Guili Assembly for reasons of 'integration' (my apologies to numerous from our dear Guizhong!) The fact that numerous adepti now live far outside of the harbor is a different matter entirely, and the one who seems to function within a semblance of separation of sorts is Ningguang with the Jade Chamber (but I'm not one to speak on behalf of her character as I don't bear the knowledge). Inazuma also has the Tenshukaku at a higher elevation in comparison to the rest of Inazuma City. Sumeru is interesting, but ultimately Nahida was kept at the very peak of the city, far out of reach of humanity— but that's exactly the common denominator that has my interest, the distance between the 'governing body' and humanity for one reason or another.
But Fontaine really takes separation to a different level in my opinion (and again, think of this when you think of the person having designed the whole city), not only because of the above which I'll elaborate more on in a moment, but also its separation from the outside world. Now, this is interesting to think about if you keep in mind that it was perhaps done in eventual protection of the city's inhabitants in terms of the prophecy (which means that this would have been constructed anywhere during or after Egeria's reign), but then why is only Palais Mermonia far above the water's reach? If the walls surrounding the city were ever breached during said prophecy, all its inhabitants are pretty much immediately caught in the flood and would drown, which tells me nothing positive of the city's 'architect' or whoever signed off on the designs. But if not done for the prophecy, then why? Stand in the middle of the Court of Fontaine and really look around you, the only sights you really have of the outside world are the sky, and it's obstructed by a fair bit of the waterways and gardens that hang overhead, which you can only properly enjoy when you take the ages long elevator to the upper level where the palace is located (which, credit due, seems freely accessible to everyone in present-time). But if you don't venture up, how much of the outside world do you get to see? It feels very secluded, very much under lock and key. On some level (and this is one of the many reasons why I think that the Meropide is so excessively important in Fontaine and it's likely why we spent so much time there; it's all to show the ever, ever important contrast and nuance between this 'autonomous nation within Fontaine' and, well, 'Fontaine'), it almost feels like a prison, regardless of how pretty it may look or come across (and despite not 'lacking rights'). And considering how people in the Meropide speak of not always wanting to return back to the 'overworld' following their sentence, I think that there's definitely quite a bit of truth in that. But again, stand there and look around for yourself.
Now to return to the original topic, but keeping the last one in mind as well, look at one other thing that I'm unsure how many have really kept an eye on: the massive effect Palais Mermonia's level has on the rest of the area (inside and outside of its walls). Have you ever walked through the city of Fontaine at any given time of day or night, north to south, east to west, clockwise or counter-clockwise circling through it; have you ever seen how it overshadows an immense part of the streets below it either entirely on its own (which to me signifies a very domineering presence), or together with those outer walls that surround the city? I know how I've spoken thoroughly with people before about how much I enjoy Fontaine and how dark it is in its storytelling, but despite how gorgeous this region with its water- and landscapes are; its city bears quite a heavy weight to me. I don't know who designed it, or ordered it to be constructed in this way, but nothing about the city itself truly, rationally, shows a healthy perspective versus its citizens.
Me: /continues on to ramble in tags because I'm me and I'm a nuisance with always more to say than I know how to coherently put into these posts.

Do you ever think about how Ted & Rebecca really had no relationship of any kind post season 1 or are you normal?
I mean they shared such little screen time in season 2&3.
Sure they MENTIONED bits which implied MAYBE they were becoming friends - 12 unanswered txts & 3 un HAHA'd texts, Ted having met her Dad etc.
But we got nothing concrete to SHOW us there was anything outside of an employer/employee relationship.
We as the audience got to see their soulmate links. Things which were never revealed to either of them.
I honestly think this is part of why it is so dissatisfying with how they ended their respective storylines (well outside of the obvious). Cause if them being soulmates of ANY kind wasn't important why show us? Why not leave it out? If you remove those elements from the overall story it doesn't change ANYTHING!!
So I guess what I am asking, once again, is WHAT WAS IT ALL FOR??????

tbh i understand that character deaths have to happen occasionally, but sometimes a creator will go and kill a character prior to using them to their full potential?? and it won't even hit hard bc it's not a purposeful decision. it's not " it's so tragic that gary died before his time and this arc/story examines that tragedy and how it could have been avoided. " it's " it's so tragic gary died. woulda been more tragic if i put in more work. " like i'm not gonna be sad that you killed gary if you don't do the groundwork before/after. i'm gonna be mad bc you killed a character, and it was a wasted death bc nothing interesting or meaningful happened as a result, or it didn't even need to happen.
i dunno?? maybe people will disagree with me, but i feel like so many series and movies will fall into killing characters for shock value -- or maybe there's a reason, but they poorly execute it by rushing the story or failing to ever tell the story beyond " oh these two mean a lot to each other " without much detail. and that's so frustrating when you get attached to those characters and i'm sorry to rant all of a sudden asdfg i'm just feeling salty as heck over this rn (。•́︿•̀。)

It's so stupid when you make a post about how something a minority does bothers you
One time I said I hated when lesbians are homophobic towards gay men because it's a thing I've noticed amongst my friends and everyone in the comments was like "Well you didn't have to drag lesbians into this." Like bro minorities CAN be the problem. Minorities are not excluded from being homophobic, racist, ableist, etc. It's so crazy to think that you can't do anything wrong because you're a minority
