Always to look life in the face and to know it for what it is. At last to know it. To love it for what it is, and then, to put it away. Always the years between us. Always the years. Always the love. Always the hours.

The way how in We Know the Devil the couple you choose to go with always finishes the ending by pretty much confirming the worse insecurities of the girl who got excluded, Venus and Jupiter still keep trying so hard to remain good kids that they can't even hear Neptune anymore, Venus and Neptune hold hands without any effort without even trying like Jupiter did so hard in the only way she could bring herself to, Jupiter and Neptune look at each other the way they can't ever look at Venus
Just... the way that in the blue ending when the narration is from Venus + Jupiter's pov and they say they "won't let her stain" them referring to being "stained" with her "impure" but valid feelings, with her rage at being treated so poorly by those around them, they won't let those thoughts in because they want to be the good kids out of the bad ones and Neptune never did and even when she talks to them afterwards nothing she says will ever get through to them again. They chose to stay clean. The way the achievement for the blue ending is called "Lukewarm, I spit you out" and is the only one named after a Bible verse, and it's one about how spiritually "hot" people are active in their faith and spiritually "cold" people "can still be strongly influenced" but someone like Neptune who knows just enough to intentionally reject the word of god is the kind of person that "deserves" to be "spit out" like a lukewarm drink
The way that in the red ending when the narration is from Neptune + Venus pov they say they chose to be distant from her that they affirm time and again they had no idea she could possibly be going through so much turmoil that she'd turn out to be it, this sudden storm, and it's not because they were upset at her they at the end of the day just don't understand, they want to, because how could she possibly have had all those feelings deep inside her? They're safe from her storm, it does not break over them, in that moment together they no longer share in all that turmoil from Jupiter's at all. Their view of her may not be admiration but it's still so unreachable and unfathomable and distant from her true feelings and that way she'll forever stay. The way the achievement for the red ending is "No prince for the princesses" and Jupiter is the designated "tomboy" out of the three of them, how she's the one trying the hardest to keep this strong front and always do the right thing and help the other two but "always messes it up" in fundamentally misunderstanding what they needed in the end they didn't even need her to be all that for them because they needed each other and not her
The way that in the yellow ending when the narration is from Neptune + Jupiter pov they say they chose to hide their faces that they're the only ones to escape Venus' light because they do not see her the same way she sees herself, "he's" a poor unfortunate friend of theirs that they'll feel guilty for having to fight against but that simply wouldn't ever fit into this new freedom they found for themselves in each other, they can see their light their way out of this camp but Venus who wants so bad to see her light has it taken away from her with every time they stare into each other's eyes a bit too long, everytime she's suddenly invisible even when physically close and looked directly at they still see right through her true self. The way the achievement for the yellow ending is called "Help me God, I'm in love" and how the lights always appear when the other two are acting close, how Jupiter accidentally falls with Venus to the ground but instantly helps her up and turns her attention entirely back to Neptune right away and how afraid Venus is during this whole thing she just wants them to allow her that moment of "weakness" to be herself with them while all they want is their way out and not have to deal with the devil at all, all she wants is to embrace it

Blooming into the Change
"What time are you getting out?" Bow asked, no doubt feeling the same impatience she was.
"Unfortunately, the board hasn’t even arrived yet, so probably not until 7."
She watched as Bow typed, probably composing the same message over and over because there were only so many ways to say, "Sorry, babe. Capitalism sucks." Even if she didn't have her meeting, he taught a late lab that rarely got out until after 6 anyway. Plus the forty-five minutes for him to get to her place, her hour commute home…
Glimmer sighed. This all would be so much easier if they'd had their shit together and gotten together when they were younger. At least they could have a late dinner and still get a little time to catch up before they had to do it all over again tomorrow. Such were the perils of a mature relationship.

c!dreamnoblade really has the "i'm prepared to be devastated by you." kind of love. the "we're both fucked up, but at least we can both be fucked up together." kind of love. the "i would follow you, even to the darkness." kind of love. the "sorry about the blood in your mouth. i wish it was mine." kind of love. the "i can give you my loneliness, my darkness, the hunger of my heart." kind of love. the "i found peace in your violence." kind of love. the "tell me every terrible thing you ever did, and let me love you anyway." kind of love. the "when is a monster not a monster? oh, when you love it." kind of love. the "i will risk the sharp teeth and the lethal claws, to defy fear and revulsion, and choose to be delicate with something that can be, and often is, incredibly brutal." kind of love. the "i'd kill for you, please ask me to kill for you." kind of love. the "i'm giving you the power to hurt me and trusting (or hoping) you won’t." kind of love. the "i'm saved by the fact that you exist." kind of love. the "why should you love him whom the world hates so? because he loves me more than the world." kind of love.

When you rewatch episode 2 with the context that Lee has been essentially trapped and drugged up for 32 years with no visitors or seeing any family, his reactions to Kentaro and Cate are even more strikingly tragic and emotional
The way he looks at Kentaro and his voice shakes ever so slightly with this relieved chuckle when he realizes that “you’re Hiroshi’s boy!” — if we assume correctly that Hiroshi never visited, then this is the first time Lee has essentially gotten concrete news that Hiroshi is at least somehow okay and got to have a life in some way and a family — Lee is the dad hearing news of his estranged kid for the first time and that must have been a relief, a huge weight lifted off his shoulders all this time
And then when he looks at Cate and learns about who she is and says “of course you are” with that knowing look and tone, it’s so clear that he sees Keiko in her. And think about it, for Lee, these last 3 decades must have been like a haze, it’s just stagnation, his life essentially frozen at the age of his return. Sure his body might have aged and he looks older, but in his head, he’s still 38 year old Lee Shaw from 1962 and in some ways that loss of Keiko and Billy must still be fresh, still an open wound that he never really healed from.
And it makes Monarch later using that footage from Philippines 1952 even more cruel, especially when they’re the ones who locked him and essentially robbed him of his life, his ability to move on or be with his family.

New headcanon! Qui-Gon Jinn was green-red colorblind (protanopia).
Think about it! This man has surrounded himself with green. He loves plants (can’t remember if that’s canon or not but it is to me) and collects them. He has a green lightsaber, a color he cannot see.
The only color that pops out among seas of dull yellow is blue. The color of Obi-Wan’s lightsaber, as well as Dooku’s (and Anakin’s). Blue, the color of his Padawan’s eyes. Blue, the only thing different. It would stick out during fights. He would know immediately where his master/padawan is by the color.
And let’s talk about red! Qui-Gon can’t see red, the color of Count Dooku, the Sith’s, lightsaber. He could not see his master slowly falling toward the dark.
He couldn’t see Maul’s lightsaber past it’s glow. It blended in too well and he payed for it with his life. Maul, the first Sith in centuries to fight with a Jedi. Qui-Gon, the first killed because he couldn’t see their plans. Couldn’t predict his own end and the scenes he died to. His own master’s plans, beside Sidious.
Anyway. So, I headcanon Qui-Gon had protanopia…

AU in which Hob Gadling did not receive much more than a raised eyebrow of both Endless that evening at the White Horse. He falls in the next battle and Death steps up to him and says: "Hello Hob." "Hey, I remember you! You and that... fancy gentleman, I saw you at the inn a few months ago!" "You remember my brother?" And Hob's eyes shine and he grins with a bit of cheek. "Oh, yes!" Death is delighted. "Say, Robert Gadling, can I interest you in a wager?"
"Sure, what kind?"
"If you can get my brother to call you a friend in...mmh, let's see...five hundred years time - I will let you live for as long as you wish."
"Five hundred years? That's almost forever already! But sure. Why not? You have a deal." He grins again. "How hard can that be? I'm a likable guy."
Death smiles and claps him on the shoulder. "That you are, Hob. If anyone can do it, you can."
