oh yes! the china line friendship is so sweet and i like how they interact with each other. at first, i wouldn't have guessed they'd be that close (their personalities are quite different) but they're besties and i now understand it. honestly, they bicker a lot but they compliment each other a lot so yeah, that's a great friendship right there 🤣 likewise, i say hao is my bias but the rest of svt are my bias wreckers. they're one of the only groups where it's difficult to choose a bias yk? 💔

Answer under the cut for spoilers for Proof of Life if you haven't read it yet! (And this will be long 😅)

So Proof of Life is interesting because I wrote it scene by scene rather than chapter by chapter so some of the chapter breaks were a struggle to figure out.

And Book 3 was tricky because when i started writing it, I wasn't really sure where it was going. My outline was like BLAH BLAH they kiss... which wasn't very helpful. I floundered for a bit, then I wrote the dialogue for an upcoming Important scene, and thought "what would need to happen for them to have this conversation?" and then I figured out the rest of the plot (in spare outline format)

There are 4 scenes that ended up in Chapter 10: Simon talking to Penny; Baz talking to Katie; Baz breaking his leg; and Simon bringing Baz food.

This is how these scenes started on my updated outline (redacted bits are scenes that I moved and would now be spoilers):

A few interesting things:

I feel bad for making Penny and Simon mad at each other but like trust me. It's gonna be good.

I love using Penny to show Simon and the reader the way vampires are viewed. Even in canon, Penny says that you can get a medal for killing vampires. This is nothing new.

This is like the first chapter in ages with no Natasha in it. Please, take this brief reprieve. Next chapter will be something.

PLEASE notice how Katie calls Natasha "Mum" when Baz only ever refers to her as "Mother"

also KATIE!! she's really not in the rest of the book very much, but i hope we like this scene of her. Their relationship is... uncomfortable, but they still love each other. I almost wish i did more with them, but this fic is already 80k long asfdlkj.

I'm sorry for constantly describing where Baz and Simon are looking and if they are making eye contact. It's important to me. Something about Baz avoiding Simon's eyes. Also the intimacy of eye contact, and like describing subtle body language in general is my favorite thing, and I hope I'm getting better and better at it.

Baz continuing to call Simon by his first name in his head but still "Snow" out loud. I love it.

Also in canon, it's very possible that Baz's fangs drop every time he eats. But it's also possible it depends on the type/amount of food. I like to think that it only happens with meat, but 🤷‍���️

Anyways, I'll cut myself off there, but this was fun!! I'm so so excited to share the next handful of chapters.

The two best friends were currently in Germany once again. Luna has got on a flight just a few after the race had finished, only her dad knowing as she didn’t want to have a talk of a lifetime by all the other drivers.

“You know, I can come and fly out to see you!” Jude said. “I know J, but I just like leaving the track as soon as possible most of the time” Luna replied.

“I’ll fly to a race soon, I want to see you win the championship this year” Jude added. “Good luck with dealing all the boys then, I might not even win it!” Luna said.

“I’ll just stay on Lewis’s side of the garage so I’m safe!” Jude laughed. “Good choice, I don’t want you getting killed” Luna mumbled.

“Are they that protective over you?” Jude whispered. “Yeah, it’s just because some of them have known me since I was 4 years old and others because I always went to races” Luna told him.

“Ah right, so I’m in trouble if I ever go to a race” Jude added as they entered the restaurant. “Jude! Luna! The usuals?” The owner asked seeing them at a table.

“You know it, thank you!” Luna called as Jude got back with the drinks. “That just shows how much we go here, as they know our orders” Jude joked. “It’s a lovely restaurant and will be one of my favourites” Luna added.

Jude and Luna had their food moments later, when they were finished they pay giving a tip before leaving and walking around the city hand in hand.

Some fans came up to the pair for photos and asked them to sign a few things, which they did. Then it was just back to them walking around enjoying each others company.

Jude stoped walking which made Luna turn around to him. “What’s wrong?” Luna asked. “Nothing…can I ask you something?” Jude mumbled. “You know you can, what’s up? Luna added.

“Lu, you have been my best friends for years now but I can’t continue with this friendship…I like you more than that and all these dates we have been on have made me realise that. I want to ask you to be my girlfriend, it’s okay if y—” Jude got cut off by Luna kissing him.

“Does that answer your question?” Luna giggled as Jude smiled. “You don’t know how long I’ve waiting to kiss you” Jude added as they kissed again. “Me too” Luna mumbled.

“Best friends to lovers, who would of thought?” Luna added they both laughed as they continued their walk around the city.

I do!! I try to respond to all comments!! I can't always promise my response will be prompt, and sometimes I get in my own head and feel...worried? As if my response will somehow sway someone to not want to keep reading? But that's a me thing I'm working through Long answer short: Yes! I do respond to comments!! I adore them and they make me so very very happy!! Honestly a comment can be such a game changer, and a relief to my heart and I just HAVE to express my gratitude for taking the time to tell me such nice words!! I'll always try to respond to them!

6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmmm I have yet to finish the fic with the angstiest ending planned. I don't tend to write angst unless there is an ending that has some level of hope and happiness in it - for now.

But yeah, I suppose Unbecoming 2 Electric Boogaloo and The Last Changeling will eventually have some pretty angsty endings.

As well as several fics within the The Collected Tellings of Shigir and Other Changeling Folktales series which can be quite grim.

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Another tricky question!! The majority my fics tend to have a happy ending planned despite the highs and lows I hope I manage to put my readers through.

Bit of a cop out answer I know, but it is what it is lol

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I've only had that happen to me once lol. Once so far and for the silliest reason that left me just shaking my head for the most part

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I do! Not as often as my other stuff though. Hmm quite a bit of orgasm control I suppose.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

IVE WRITTEN ONE CROSSOVER AND ITS MY FAVORITE AND I HOPE THE STARS ALIGN FOR ME TO FINISH IT!!!

A Funny Old World MY BELOVED!!! It is essentially the Discworld and Mp100 crossover fic no one asked for hahaha

Not that...I'm aware of...

Again not that I'm aware of...and no one has yet to approach me to do so. Though sometimes I think of translating it myself into Italian.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I have! It was a great time with @megan0013 on the 23rd chapter of their fic Fallout where we combined the Fallout story with my made up Changeling Folktales.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

I'm too bisexual for this question, I have, like, a fat stack of ships I adore. But of the ones I've written (in no specific order of importance) I really love Adora Belle and Moist, Serizawa and Reigen, Barbara and Strickler, Mort and Ysabell, Polly and Mal, and the list just goes on haha

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I don't think I appreciate the defeatist tone of this question haha. I'm sure I'll finish all of them...eventually. Some go in hibernation a little longer than others, that I won't lie. Hmm though, I'm going to be honest with myself the Terpsichore series seems to be the loftiest of goals at the moment. Who even knows when I'll finally finish it...but, like I said, I'd like to hold out hope that, someday it'll get done lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

I've been told I'm quite good at keeping characters in character, and my writing 'voice' is quite charming sometimes. I've also been told I'm quite good at writing cozy comfort fics. I hope, one day, I'll be able to add horror and suspense to the list of writing strengths.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Making things concise, I think. Sweet short and to the point. I'd love to get better at suspense and horror, just making readers sweat - you know?

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

Oh man I have a lot of Thoughts about this actually XPP here's hoping they make sense!!

Depends on the characters, and what language they are speaking and what language the characters know beyond what they are speaking.

I viscerally do not appreciate it when, okay... here's an example: Character A and Character B are both speaking Italian, because the characters are Italian - so even though the fic and author is writing in English we ALL know that Character A and Character B are speaking Italian - so why add in an English dialogue bits of actual Italian?? We all know they are speaking Italian to begin with!! UNLESS, for instance, Character B for a moment spoke in a regional dialect which is different than the standard language.

I tend to call this the "Silenzio Bruno!" situation. Why are you having a character who is supposedly already speaking in a language suddenly say something of that language. It shouldn't be "Silenzio Bruno!" but "Quiet Bruno!" though in some cases I get it...and who knows maybe it'll perk up the interest of people and kids to learn other languages but oof does it rub me the wrong way sometimes

Wait hmmm perhaps thats too confusing

OKAY

EXAMPLE: In Glow Worms I have Serizawa as half Brazilian (there's in fact a huge Brazilian population within Japan! As well as a huge Japanese population within Brazil! Here are two fascinating video essays on the subject if interested [X] [X]).

When Serizawa is speaking with Reigen it is clear and obvious they would speak Japanese amongst themselves and around them, I wouldn't include actual Japanese unless it's a word that I can't really translate well, or is very clearly specific within the Japanese language (the difference between writing 'screen door' and 'shoji door' - both doors, but evoke different specific things). However, when Serizawa speaks with his mother there are often times Portuguese would crop up - an indicator that Serizawa is no longer speaking Japanese in that moment, or phrase or sentence.

The same can be said with Moist von Lipwig, and when he's speaking Morporkian vs Überwaldian. It is agreed that everyone tends to speak Morporkian to some degree as a defect-o Lingua Franca Quirma, and when they're not they're very clearly not!

NOW! In those moments when characters are speaking another language I prefer either it's something that can be figured out via context clues, or a translation is provided either in a footnote or by the character(s) themselves. This is something I feel more confident with if a character is speaking Italian, because then I don't have to worry about translator engines not translating something properly lol But I try to be as respectful and accurate as possible, and if I can't then I wouldn't attempt it and describe in the text that Character A and Character B are speaking another language amongst themselves.

OR (and this is something else I'm doing in Glow Worms) I'll describe a character speaking another language, and another character acts as translator - this is something I always adored in Discworld when characters interact with The Librarian as well as Death of Rats.

Which, again, I try to approach as respectfully as possible. Language is important!! It's a culture and a thought process! And should always be treated with respect

I don't know about Favorite, but there are several that I'm very proud of myself with...

The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Stupid Kid [working title] series, Hand Rolled, The Runaway's Gamble, AU REVOIR, to name a few. Several Trollhunter fics (especially Terpsichore, sometimes I look back on that and go "Wow I really wrote All of THAT?!")

And most recently: Glow Worms or rather: In the Depths of the Safflower Hills a fic that honestly? I find myself going back and rereading what I've written and posted more than once! And has helped me grow as a writer I think

To be fair, I answered this in another ask so I am going to lazy and copy that answer here. 🙂

Going deep here aren’t you Em? 👀 lol I’ve enjoyed writing since I was little as an extension of my love of reading. First with poems and the anime fanfiction when I actually watch more anime. Now I read more manga and don’t write fanfiction about it. If one squints on A03 - I may have dabbled in Marvel characters and actors for a short time. 🫢 The took a long pause as life happened. Sometime last year as my mental health improved so did my love of writing and I hyper focused on Pedro Pascal so here we are. 🤣 I write more the better my mood is. Maybe a bit too much background 😵

1. My long awaited vacation is almost here! It will start the end of next week. Feel free to tag me in things and message me but responses will be slow. I’ll be out of the country for 2 weeks. 😆 I’ve been looking forward to this for months. I need a break.

2. Actually precepting (teaching new nurses or new to specialty nurses the ropes of the unit) I work on a medical-surgical unit so we see everything under the sun. It can be daunting, very weird, hilarious and disturbing all in the same hour. But I feel like becoming a resource to other nurses and to staff on the unit was a good decision ☺️ As tough as it is, I enjoy it.

3. Family and friends: I speak to my parents a couple times a week and still go on trips with them so I’m always thankful to spend more time with them when I’m able and while they’re still healthy enough to do so. Both real life and online friends are blessing because I can chat about anything either really. No judgement from either - would they tell me if they did? Maybe 🤔 I’m curious now that I mention it. Pfft. 🤣

She felt nothing.

She was somewhere dark. Quiet. Alone.

Wake up, she told herself. Open your eyes.

She forced her eyelids open, blinking as she adjusted to the bright light streaming into her eyes.

Where was she?

Her eyes focused on the window, the moonlight beaming through onto her face.

She tried to push herself up onto her elbows. Her head swam as she lifted it off the ground.

What the hell happened to me?

She breathed out shakily, and managed to grab onto a bedpost to haul herself to her feet. Brushing off her robes, she looked around the room.

This is Fred’s dorm… Why am I here?

The door clicked open, and she turned around to see a dark figure enter, arms full of what looked like the entire hospital wing’s supply of medicine and healing potions.

The figure locked eyes with her, and promptly dropped everything he was holding to run towards her.

“Oh my god, y/n, how are you standing? Are you okay?”

Y/n frowned as she tried to identify who the person was.

He hesitated. “… Y/n?”

He stepped closer to her, and the moonlight shone upon his face.

“George?” she whispered. “What… what happened to me?”

George opened his mouth to answer, but no words came out. He dropped his eyes to the ground, fidgeting with his hands as he tried to answer her.

Y/n followed his eyes to his hands.

What happened?

Clearing his throat, George lifted his head and glanced nervously at y/n. “You and Fred were- got into an arugment, and…”

He looked down at his hands again, rubbing the one against the other.

“George…” she said slowly.

“Yeah?“

“Why- why is your hand bandaged?”

George looked at her, eyes filled with sadness.

She stared back at him.

“Things got rough.”

She frowned.

”I’m so sorry, y/n. I tried to pull him off you, but he was just- just completely out of his mind.“

The resounding thwack echoed through the room.

A scream ripped through the silence that followed. A thud as something hit the ground.

Then, nothing.

Nothing at all.

A tear rolled down her cheek. She winced as it made contact with the wound on her face.

And then she lost control.

Gasping, sobbing, her legs gave way as she collasped to the floor, shaking uncontrollably.

George rushed forward and fell to his knees, and pulled y/n into his arms.

“Oh- oh George…” she cried.

“Shhh, it’s okay.” George soothed her, stroking her hair softly.

She cried even more. He was being so kind to her, so gentle, and yet she couldn’t help but feel as though he was betraying her too. Leaving her alone. Leaving their friends, their lives, their home.

It stung her more than the blood trickling from the open wound on her face.

It gathered in her heart, squeezing it, till she felt she could no longer feel anything but pain.

Y/n inhaled sharply, causing George to pull away slightly in shock.

“What’s wrong, did I hurt you?” he asked, concerned.

Y/n shook her head, covering her face with her hands as the tears ran down her face.

“George, ho-w could he do t-his to me?” she said between sobs.

George had no answer, but his eyes said it all.

“Just, try to breathe, okay?” he said quietly, rubbing her back.

Y/n nodded, breathing out shakily.

He leaned back to grab a bottle of healing potion, cleaning materials, bandages, and a tub of his and Fred’s own bruise paste concoction.

He turned to y/n, and tilted his head down to meet her eyes.

“Y/n,” he asked softly. “Can I touch your face, please?”

She looked up at him, nodding. He gave her a small smile, and took the cork out the healing potion, lifting in to y/n’s lips.

“Drink.” He said.

She obliged. The potion burned the back of her throat as she swallowed, but she choked it down.

He then turned his attention to the wound on her face. Grabbing a cleanser and a cloth, he tilted her head and applied cleanser to the cloth.

“This is for the blood, okay? It’s going to sting, but it’ll be over soon.”

“Okay.” She whispered.

George lifted the cloth to her face, and started to wipe away the blood. Tears trickled down her face as he did so, the pain being slightly unbearable.

Once he had finished cleaning the wound, he began to open the tub of bruise paste. When he saw y/n flinch at the sight, he closed it and put it back.

“It’s fine, we don’t have to use it.” He said kindly.

She nodded, wiping away her tears and looking up at him.

“Thank you.”

He patted her soothingly on the shoulder, eyes full of concern as he glanced at her cheek.

“It’s the least I can do.”

They found the ISD chimera almost 2 years after the Purrgil incident. The ship appeared to be pretty much destroyed but still able to sustain life if the sensors were correct.

The only one they found was the former Grand Admiral. There was not a single trace of his crew at first.

Thrawn was in good physical condition but refused to speak to anyone or even acknowledge their existence.

After a thorough examination of the ship, Ar'alani's team found the disturbing remains of the Chimaera crew.

A conversation with Thrawn was more urgent than ever, Ar'alani knew.

"What happened to your crew, Thrawn?" she asked as compassionately as she could.

Silence.

"Thrawn, listen to me! What happened to your crew?", her voice was more forceful.

When he answered his voice was rough, as if he hadn't used it in a long time, "they were sacrificed for a greater good." She could barely understand him. His voice, his manner, it felt wrong.

"Thrawn, speak clearly. What has happened to your crew?" she demanded, she needed to hear it, loud and clear.

And again, "they were sacrificed for a greater good," this time his voice was strong.

She couldn't bear it any longer. What they had found, the remains of the crew, the sheer monstrosity of it all.

She snapped, "YOU FUCKING ATE THEM!"

"THEY FOUND A HONORABLE DEATH!" he shouted at her.

And at that moment she knew he believed what he was saying.
