A bit of that Witchcraft SMP fic I said I wrote for Scar's win... I have no idea what to do with it so I grabbed a fragment and I'll put it here.

I might feel different about just posting the whole thing tomorrow but today it'd feel bad.

Enough about that. I am not sad about how the whole thing went, here's some distraction guys:

Unwelcome Visitor

Scott made an amused noise and glanced at the brewing mess. "With blowing things up?" he grinned even wider, annoying the FireFrost witch.

"Sometimes progress needs a few explosions to happen," Joey tossed, trying to sound casual and not at all bothered but not quite making the mark. Scott's giggle had him even more annoying than his experiment failing. That was a step to success. All Scott's giggles made him feel was annoyed. "Just go back to your…" Joey turned away from the not welcomed in his house guest to go over his notes and add some more when a pair of arms wrapped around him.

"I think that instead of stressing over that… invention… you need some rest. Doesn't that sound nice?" Scott muttered right into his ear. Lacing his voice with some charm.

Joey almost gave into said charm, realising what was going on at the last second and breaking it as his brain started to fog over and thoughts slow down. "I'll rest when you leave me alone and stop trying to make me into one of your mindless undead puppets," he huffed with effort, pushing the necromancer away.

"How do you know I'd let you be mindless? There's far too much up there to waste it like that," Scott chuckled but a hint of disappointment crossed his face. He was totally trying to kidnap the younger witch…

"You're the worst kind of bastard," Joey scoffed. No more turning his back to Scott. Never ever again. Under no circumstances.

Scott chuckled as he shrugged. "Honestly, not the worst I've been called," he admitted. "And maybe I was actually worried about you, hm?"

Joey did not trust Scott at all. It was not the first time the necromancer trued dragging him away to wherever he operated from. And probably not the last. "Just leave me be," Joey sighed, leaning on a clean part of his workbench. "I have not time to waste dealing with you," he huffed offering the necromancer his best glare.

"Oh, trust me I know your little problem," Scott grinned and Joey froze. How did he… "And becoming…"

after literal years i finally got around to downloading a pdf of the wipers times, an unsancitioned satitical british trench magazine circulated among the troops in france from 1916-1918 after the fortuitous discovery of a printing press. i have approximately five million other things i need to read so idk when i'll be able to devote much time to it, and i gotta pick up a proper copy bc it's missing at least salient no 4 vol 2. that said? i'm genuinely laughing at what i've skimmed so far

The thing about jonmartin is that Martin wants to be a romantic, he loves poetry and probably watches romance but for him it is a fantasy, a silly game he plays. Martin is at his core very cynical. Things don't work out for him so he doesn't really belive in romance, it is a pretty dream but that's it. He is pratical and realist. Dating Jon he has to remind himself it is real and he actually struggles with romantic gestures, it is something he has to remind himself to do, to remind himself he can do even and honestly who even has the energy and what if Jon doesn't even like it?

Jon on the other hand wants to be cynical. His first coping mechanism was pretend the things he was afraid of weren't real and goddam if he isn't afraid of love. It didn't really work to him so far so it's easy to pretend he doesn't care. But he is a romantic at heart. He saw love and he read about it and he has enough evidence that it is undeniable. And to be honest Jon was always to much a bunch of mushy feelings hidden in a grumpy (and bitter and afraid) trench coat. Dating Martin he has to hold himself so he isn't too much. He plays the grumpy unromantic guy at first. But he just can't stop giving flowers and planing dates (this is the guy that saw a theme park on a fear domain and considered how he wanted to take Martin to a romantic ferris whell date [until he discovered Martin was afraid of them]) and making all the silly things one does when in love.

TR: Martin is deep down very cynical about love but wants to/pretends to be a romantic and Jon is deep down very romantic but wants to/pretends to be cynical about love.
