Chapter Summary: Etho tells Cleo how he really feels, but something keeps him holding on.
Kind of OC based but it's also vague (Although Minutemen leaning) so like. If your Sole wasn't a soldier or lawyer. Or anything. Just a skill-less bastard. You might like this. Enjoy.
Sole being trusted by so many factions just for breathing is so funny actually. Like they deadass crawl out of a cave, freshly traumatised, and told they're a General? Because they helped someone? Cool, yeah, sure, uh-huh. That's a great amount of pressure to handle on top of their circumstances.
I like to think that everyone also assumes they're insanely clever. It's not that Sole isn't, per se, but everyone treats them like a genius. A prodigy. People have told Sole they understand why Preston trusted them so much because the Commonwealth 'needs their level of knowledge and intelligence to get better'. To which Sole is always bewildered, because their 'extensive level of knowledge' is just. High school level. Basic science lessons.
They know about evolution and stem cells and stuff. They know how disease and antibodies work. They're praised for changing people's opinions on vaccination when, with the help of Curie, they start a campaign to bring back vaccines. Their goal was to fight the viruses that had been brought back from near extinction from 200+ years of no healthcare system, no scientists and doctors to cure them. A tilt back in the direction of accessible Pre-War healthcare.
Sole knows history. They know what to watch out for, how to spot tension between factions. They know how to avoid more war, lessons learned from textbooks and late nights with post-it notes. They know how to piece together a scale and pin point the tipping point to stop it before shit goes down because they did a project about it on a WW1 assignment. The Great War. The irony is not lost on Sole when they contemplate that name for too long.
They're decent at Maths. Decent enough to make sure the caps and donations to the Minutemen are being put to good use. To make sure the book keeping is up to code and every cap is accounted for, and what it should be put towards. Like trying to bring back vaccines from 200 years ago. Negotiating with Vault 81 to let Curie use the old lab there goes way more smoothly when they've got the caps to make a worthy case for the cause.
Sole knows why people assume their mind is unmatched, though. In a way it is, sort of, they suppose. Since education is rare in the Post-War world, and even then it's not at the level it was Pre-War, Sole just seems smart. Everyone thinks they are.
Sole never knows how to handle it.
Are they complicit for letting people believe they're a genius? Should they keep up the charade so people listen to them? The thought keeps them up at night. Preston laughs at them for it.
MacCready reminds them of the many times they looked like a dumbass in every other circumstance where they lacked knowledge. 210 years of missing out on General Wolrd Stuff will do that to ya. It's not necessarily their fault, but he still likes to drag them for the time they got food poisoning because they didn't realise some of the new plants had to be cooked before consumption.
Every time someone acts in awe of Sole's intelligence, MacCready snickers because he was there in the early days. Sole had hired him to watch their back. Soon enough he became their mentor on how to shoot a gun properly. How to maintain it. What to eat, what not to eat, what to definetly not eat. How to make sure mole rat meat is 100% cooked. How to safely remove as much radiation as possible from water and food when you have only basic supplies. He would never think Sole is stupid. They know a lot compared to most people, but learning how to survive and knowing how to count are very different types of knowledge. No, he'd never think they're stupid. But he definetly humbles them, which Sole is actually happy about. He still affectionately calls them an idiot and reminds them of the time they tripped over their own laces, alerting the radstag they were hunting of their presence. And the food poisoning thing. And the incident with the bucket. And when they almost touched a deadly plant because they thought it would look nice in a vase they found.
Thing is, Preston taught them basics of how to shoot and fight before they left Sanctuary. MacCready picked up the workload when he met Sole and realised they'd likely get them both killed if he didn't. Cait showed them hand to hand combat and lockpicking. Everyone at some point taught Sole something. So Sole goes red from embarrassment when being complimented on their mind, because they know they're gonna get an earful from their friends later. Affectionately bullied. You know Deacon has some blackmail level information from the months he followed them. They all sit at Sole's kitchen counter and share stories of Sole's embarrassing misadventures over breakfast. That's just what a family does.
hi! in case anyone was curious, spectrum boxers seem to compress your hips somewhat & do genuinely seem to make them more typically masculine, along with having general contruction that's better suited to transmascs. do what you will with this information.
Marcille would go literally insane if she met Lady D. Like she would EXPLODE. Hot rich vampire woman who is a loving mother of 3, milf as hell, lives in a large mansion, loves wine, hates men, and is an immortal lesbian?? Tell me right now that she would not try and rizz her up only to stumble over her words or be shocked as Alcina tries to charm Marcille instead. I need this content PLEASE
I think that the 2010's media landscape of Buzzfeed articles about plotholes in disney movies, Cinemasins critiques, and Watchmojo Top Ten scenes in movies that make no sense has truely ruined a lot of media. People are afraid that their work will be torn down if they dare leave a single thing up in the air, if they dare ask their audience to suspend their disbelief.
All too often nowadays I see stories (especially fantasy), take the time to explain how every small aspect of the world works and how it all logically makes sense. The constant time stopped to explain why an event happened, how this object works, or why this is important to the characters. It's just really not needed and it honestly makes a lot of stories worse.
I am of the opinion that the best stories truly just drop you into their world and explain nothing. They just take you through the story of this world and you just have to accept it and continue on. "When he became king, the land became barren." I don't want the story to stop and explain why this is, or how it happened, I want us to move on so we can just assume that the king has such rancid vibes that everything died.
anyone else think theres some kinda bizarre love triangle going on between the player and the dlc siblings cause thats all i took away from it lmao. cant wait for part 2 so i can take carmine on a true american date
on the second weekend of january an aunt passes away

you'd never guess what happened on the last weekend of the month... a cousin passes away
Oh, and a contributing factor on why Optimus as well will become hyper protective of the sparkling?
Orion canonically spent some of his formative years in the wilds of Cybertron. Now, he's mostly calmed down from his legitimately feral tendencies, but. There's certain experiences you don't forget when knowing more about nature than the average mech or human. He's likely exactly seen how brutally uncaring nature has with Cybertronian wildlife (which I do assume exists and at least some of it can sexually reproduce). Animals don't have morals when it comes to survival, and I've mentioned the correlation between reproductive strategies and offspring mortality rates in nature.
And, i mean, think about what we've established in the TFP au. Transformer (i use this term specifically for members of Cybertronus cybertronii) appear to have practically minuscule gestational periods as compared to their way longer lifespans, and the sparklings are born rather small and squishy, only developing defining traits such as hardened armor pigments and more kibble later on. Small and squishy is cute, yes, but doesn't tend to fly in nature well.
I never would have considered marchil before but after seeing ur blog my mind has shifted and I’m obsessed, honestly i don’t know how it isn’t more popular their dynamic is great
I am hungry for good fics on AO3 and I humbly (desperately) await ur next marchil upload😭
I knoww right they interact all the time and have such chemistry… It’s baffling. I’m glad you’ve hopped on board, ahoy matey!!
Big news, I am working on:
Marchil March… Be prepared. I’m gonna advertize it soon but it’s gonna be in two weeks. Time flies aaaa (Thank you reblogger, you know who you are <3)
Also while I’m here, I’ve been trying to find a catchy ship name for them, contributions and votes welcome. A buddy has thought of Short Fuse which is sooo perfect, but another fandom’s already using it so hmm.
Closed Book… MagicLock... Detonation. something something implode (bc he bottles things up) explode (boom boom. Traps and spells). Explosive Trap? SpellTrap/entrap spell… Matching pouches/small pouches? Magic Touch, bc he’s very agile with his fingers being a picklock and all... I am struggling. Something storybook/trope themed?
Some memes to keep you snacking through the wait. Second meme textpost from here. Hungover Chil be like
The ship is growing! More and more people are liking it! Just yesterday on the dunmeshi discord people entertained the thought of it and went from comedy to ungodly levels of angst lol
I’m working on another long marchil oneshot rn!! This is alongside working on shorter fics, fanart and tumblr posts but I’m hoping that Marchil March will get my gears running and productive
hey just to say, if you come on tumblr and feel lonely because you see people talking in tags or make reference to conversations they have with their Tumblr friends and think that you are the only one out here not talking to people. Babe I can assure you I am also sitting in silence yelling into the void, yes I go daft in tags but I don’t know how to talk to people so please don’t feel lonely. it might look like everyone is talking to each other all the time but I promise that’s not the case
inspired by my own 9-1-1 / bad buddy post, here's a bad buddy / starsky & hutch sequel about cutting ties with your past, polluting the ocean, throwing small shiny rectangular objects, etc. 🌊
oksies hi starting a new thread of get to know you
haii I'm moth and also thea you may call me any nickname as well <3
I love musicals so so much (niche and popular!! basic-shaming is lame)
I am superhero obsessed (augh pied piper)
doctor who is my autism (yay river sonf!!!!)
good omens heoughhhhhhhh
super excited to meet you <3333333
Hi moth!! You can call me tetra. Don't worry that's not my real name or anything tho. I took it from the concept of tetrachords in music.
If we're generous about what we call superheroes, then maybe most of the things I like are superhero based. I mean obviously there's marvel and dc, but then there's stuff like dpxdc, sonic the hedgehog (idk if I've ever heard him called a superhero but he kinda is), if we count magical girls then like. Sailor moon and madoka magica
I haven't seen any episodes of good omens, but I read a really good fanfic of Crowley going to therapy a while back, and a couple funny ones with like yelp reviews of Aziraphale's bookstore. Plus I love the good omens analysis posts on here. I feel like maybe I half know some of what's happened in the show but also probably haven't scratched the surface. I'm kinda bad at watching TV shows, so there's a lot of stuff that I know from fandom but haven't seen. For another example of that, I've only watched one or two episodes of Sonic Prime. I reblog posts for it and it sounds good but idk. Just bad at it.
I'm a much more casual fan of musicals, I think for the same thing as above where I just struggle to sit and watch something on purpose. But I listen to the music from them sometimes, I've read transcripts online of a couple, and i swoon whenever I see a post analyzing the meaning of a musical song, especially when they go beyond lyrics and start going into the music theory in the tune. I don't have the skills or knowledge to do that myself but I love it so much
(when the singer changes their technique to enhance the meaning,, when this or that chord is a step outside the key to symbolize change or isolation or anything,,, using instruments as symbols for this or that character,,, tbh it doesn't have to be a musical even shout out to that youtube video by Scruffy on how fnaf's audio and sound effects make it scarier)
Lately I've been bouncing back and forth between Sonic and DPxDC. With hints of Slay The Princess in there bc I saw part of a playthrough of that awhile ago and loved the concept. I reblog madoka magica stuff whenever I see it (except magia record bc I know next to nothing about it) because that stuff makes me lose my mind. The love the pain the hope the despair!! Homura is probably like my ultimate blorbo but I love all the five girls they're so cool. I actually read the manga instead of watching the show though so I'm not as familiar with all the music. Plus I think the show had some extra scenes. Although it's a little confusing bc I think some of the extra scenes I see are magia record so idk.
Also I'm a fan of arts and crafts and will reblog that kind of thing once in a while, along with cute cat stuff.
I can't believe this panel actually. It's so pointedly about her in this moment even though they're talking about the hobgoblins that wiped out this village. Yasha just rolled out from under a dead guy and immediately started scrounging for whatever those other guys didn't take with them. Cloak made of grass plus the unmistakable comparison to the hobgoblins leaving their fort to kill for food equals a working hypothesis that Yasha doesn't even live here. It's not like them to come into a village, and it's not like Yasha either. The forest is low on food, so Yasha and the goblins are in the same place for the same reasons. Yasha was just caught in the crossfire.
She's living alone in the wasting forest. I'd almost bet on it. And that means wherever she came from, something drove her from it a long time ago. she doesn't have a lot of time on this planet at this point to begin with, so undoubtedly the stormlord's chosen has been fighting wild animals and sneaking for food just as long or longer than she was ever a welcome addition to someone's village.
A makeshift grass cloak to hide the wings that show up when she gets mad, camouflage in the village. And a history behind it, reasons she knows she needs to keep them hidden. She's been in a village before in her memory, and she knows why they threw her out. She's a freak. So, cloak. Survival, a way to buy time while she finds where the food is.
That's so much for a kid to already know. So many awful lessons. Small wonder being told she's chosen by the gods and accepted, wings and all, earned her devotion to the tribe. She never needed them to be nice or fair. She knew already how all of this worked. She needed to be what skyspear said she was. Destined for greatness.
