His hands are so big, only a little smaller than Eddie’s. “I have to pay dues by next Friday.”  Buck hums. “Want me to go with you?” he asks, reaching up to run his fingers through Eddie’s hair. Eddie melts, the tightness in his shoulders disappearing as if it were never there at all, and slouches further against Buck’s side.  “She does like you better than me.”  Buck’s chuckles shake Eddie’s whole body. “Everybody does.” He brushes a tangle out of Eddie’s hair. “Come back to bed.”  Eddie’s lashes flitter, but he keeps them closed. “I don’t know if I can sleep,” he says, whisper-soft. He’s tired, achy; sleep weighs thick in his bones, but he’s too wound to rest. “My brain won’t turn off.”  Humming, Buck rests his cheek on top Eddie’s head and leans back against the couch, bringing Eddie with him. “That’s okay,” he says, turning his head just enough to huff his stinky yawn right in Eddie’s face. Eddie’s so exhausted he can’t even muster any irritation. “I’ll sit with you till you can.”

Most content creators are proship as it is the mature stance to have. Many proshippers are disgusted by certain topics in fiction; they are just not an ass about it. They ignore/block what they don't like and move on. Proshippers understand that someone's fictional work is not a mirror into their morals or who they are as a person. Proshippers know that someone can write a very disturbing disgusting piece of fiction and not condone any of it. Antis have attempted to hijack the term 'proship' to mean something else entirely in order to justify harassing content creators just for creating fiction they feel uncomfortable with. Antis are typically young, mostly teens with some in their 20s. Thankfully many antis grow out of this and become proship/profic as their understanding of the nuances of fiction and the real world develops.

got around to reading nona the ninth and I think I finally have to concede that I'm just not picking up what these books are putting down. there's some cool concepts but it feels like the author is actively avoiding them most of the time. also finding the constant quips and references annoying, and not really sold on the central relationship of the series, which leaves very little for me to be happy about. I'll read alecto because I'd like to know what happens next, but I can't help but feel I'll also be relieved when it's over

Good conflict through miscommunication/lack of communication: character traits and insecurities keeping characters from speaking plainly because of any number of fears (like a legitimate reason to not trust someone fully) or a disagreement of opinion on the right course of action or mishearing someone/not being able to express oneself because the person isn't used to doing so for whatever reason/ expects things to get worse through communication from previous bad experiences. All of those are great, don't get why people want all characters to talk fully rationally and all-cards-on-the-table to avoid conflict.

Bad and frustrating conflict through lack of communication: whatever the 100 times rehashed "deep emotional" conversations on supernatural were. how did they talk about the same shit in almost the same words over and over without having it affect their decision making and characterisation ever?

Yeah, like conflict through bad communication can be done well, I just find it very often isn't done well, which leads to it being just really frustrating. Chloe's reaction to Lucifer being, well, Lucifer will never not piss me off; literally from the first episode he outright admits to being the Devil, she sees him do obviously non-human things almost every single episode, but then is so shocked and appalled by his Devil Face that she has a breakdown and fucks off for like 6 months!

I can only calm myself by telling myself that she fucks off for 6 months because she's just deeply humiliated that she refused to believe him and needed 6 months to regrow an ego after acting like a dumbass for what is implied to be multiple years of working with this guy.

Im never even really upset about losing the things people steal from me, im always more upset that they feel the need to do that and all the deception and destruction of trust that goes along with it. Its genuinely upsetting for me, and so far, none of the shit anyones stolen from me has been for like. An actual justified reason. At least steal some fuckin food or something.
