2. How many works did you publish this year?

Oh, jeeez...I think I only posted three complete things (and they were short)? But I updated three other things (more than once), so ummm...I think, if you count chapter updates, I’ve posted like ten things to AO3 this year? Pitiful, I know. But I’ve shared so many snippets on tumblr...lol!

17. Your favorite character to write this year?

Ooooh...this is a hard one. I really like getting into just about any character's head, but Carver was a lot of fun to try and emotionally wrangle this year (I write him really close to home...younger sibling feelings, debilitating imposter syndrome, always embarrassed and horny...). Nate has snuck in as a close second, too. I thought the snarky dark and handsome thing was pretty well-established and unflappable (and it's been hard not to just write him as a slightly-less-grumpy Loghain...for reasons...), but I decided to give him some more baggage in Warden Hawke to work through and it became a lot more interesting. 😆

30. Biggest surprise while writing this year?

How hard it is! I used to be incapable of NOT writing or scheming (like, srsly...you could catch me writing and/or outlining things during meetings...during classes...on the train...etc). But damn if this year hasn't been ridiculously hard on my motivation and creative energy (I can point specifically to some big ol' bombs that blew up in my personal life but that doesn't make it any less frustrating, amirite?). I've had dry spells before. But this whole year has felt like one of constantly wishing I could just...write. Or draw. Or put together another ttrpg campaign. Or create something! Hoping 2023 brings some mental and emotional resilience...cuz boy howdy do I need it (and I’d like to think I deserve a friggin break, ok, Universe?!).

Day 6 of Poccie's departure

I am an ardent believer that 80% of humans are jerks in one way or another. Probably 90% of general humans are jerks when it came to animals.

I am also proud to say that those around me appeared to be in the 10% minority, and I am glad.

My friends and work partners are definitely in the 10% - they have/have had pets. Their condolences for me are 100% genuine and I am not going to discount that, ever.

Most of my immediate family members also have had pets in one point or another in their respective lives. My youngest niece has cats and would constantly call me to ask what to do with her cats in certain situations.

Apparently, and this was to my surprise, my third cousins also cared enough to send their condolences for Poccie. I know *some* of them have pets, but the rest did not seem like they even cared for animals. Maybe they care, just did not have the means (read: money) to care enough to be significant. The 'richer' ones definitely have pets and cared for the pets properly.

Today, my dearest dentist surprised me by saying her condolences the instant she opened her door.

Last week, by the time Poccie came home, I was supposed to go to the dentist and had a 5 o'clock appointment. Obviously I didn't feel like going, so I cancelled the appointment. Or rather, my mom cancelled the appointment saying she (I) just lost her cat.

My dentist is of North Sumatra origin, where most people would have dogs rather than cats. She is much like me, i.e. when she was a bit of a nomad in her younger days (her husband was a state officer who'd be assigned to random locations), she refused and denied her kids to have pets. Now that she has permanently settled down, she does not want to have a dog, due to the fact that she knows that it would take more work than she was willing to expend energy on to take care of a dog. But her siblings have dogs (and they live across the street from each other). Her husband also cared for birds and (exotic) chickens, and has a parrot that is 28 years old. She understood the hurt of losing a pet very, very well.

She also rambled (North Sumatran inang, amirite? XD) about how difficult it is to trust others to take care of our beloved pets - even birds or fish. Obviously you can't feed Koi/Arowana the same thing you feed a goldfish/betta, and you can't feed bettas the bugs you feed arowanas. Likewise with the 28 year old parrot who has specific diets, 7 a.m. the bird will call "Jacob is hungry!!" and someone has to be up to feed her seeds, and then papayas by 12 p.m., then another type of seeds by 7 p.m.

I love her even more for explaining that.

I love that I am surrounded by those who did not discount my grief.

I am still hurting at times. When I looked into the kennel Poccie last spent her night in and see Winnie in it, my gut instinct was to tell her to "get out, Winnie, that's Poccie's place." -in spite of having deep-cleaned that kennel right after we interned Poccie last week.

But her eyes told me something along the line of, "I'm a calico, too, meowm, and I want to be loved, too!"

So I put on a new blanket and let her stay there.

She is fine, btw, eats & drinks well in spite of her EGC, no inflammation in her mouth, pee/poop fine. She just liked to be in kennels. :p

Why does society now seem to hate the idea of having maternal instincts? Like loving someone or caring about them is a bad thing that diminishes you somehow. What a weird attitude. You’re allowed to have a sibling connection, or basically any other kind, but suggest a maternal connection and people are repulsed.

The odds of me having kids are basically nill. Just because it’s not you, doesn’t mean you have to hate it, or hate the insinuation that you might possess some of the qualities. “If someone possesses an instinct that might be called maternal, they must immediately have twenty children and never leave the house again. Their life is over!”

What is your mother to you? I suppose some mothers are terrible, but even in that situation, the reason it hurts so much is because... she’s your mother. And your mother is the most important person on earth to you. So if that person is a jerk or rejects you or abuses you, it’s awful. There’s nothing wrong with mothers. To most of us, they’re the best thing since sliced bread. 

I can’t believe I have to say this, but there’s nothing wrong with ‘maternal instincts’ either. Or of the idea that women might have them.

I have ‘maternal instincts.’ That’s not a bad thing. It simply describes positive attitudes that might manifest in a mother’s relationship with her child. Attitudes that can apply in other situations.

The instinct to protect the weak and the vulnerable, for instance. This would fall into the category of ‘maternal type instinct’. Am I supposed to believe that’s a bad thing? That it’s bad to suggest a woman might have it?

Men have it too. Only in their case it’s ‘paternal instincts’ and it might manifest in slightly different ways, but it’s the same basic desire to protect and care for someone. (Oh, ick, caring about people, loving people, wanting what’s best for people, wash it off me! Loving people makes me lesser. I only want to punch people in the head.)

As if Seven is somehow lesser because she sees a younger version of herself in Icheb and wants to protect him, as opposed to her parents failing to protect her. She shouldn’t have the instinct to fill that role when she sees a need that she once had, it’s demeaning, right? If she has an instinct that might be called maternal she must immediately renounce shoes.

Or to get angry when people call Janeway and Chakotay ‘mom and dad of voyager’ because it’s somehow demeaning to suggest such a thing about a female captain. Being a mom is so low and worthless, amirite? (Meanwhile it’s not demeaning to Chakotay to call him dad. Weird.)

I don’t get it. I don’t get the fear of the female as distinct from the male (even tho as I’ve already stated, it’s really not that distinct). I’m not girly and I don’t get it. Motherhood is great. Maternal instincts are pure and beautiful, stop acting like they’re not. 

Yes, some sexists abuse it and twist it into some ridiculous argument. That’s their problem.

I’m more wary of those who wish to spread an allergic reaction to a phrase like ‘maternal instincts’ into society. To the idea of motherhood in general. That strikes me as just as sexist, if not more so. ‘Only traditionally male traits are worthy.’

Finally I’ve updated my Addison family, now including their parents :D

+Some personal thoughts about them (long post).

General

I just made them cat-like. They aren’t exactly cats but uh-- yeah.

Yes, they have fur! And claws (they’re retracted lol) they purr too. Eyes are comonly round, but sometimes they come in different shapes: diamonds, hearts, etc.

Addisons are social by nature, and often use physical contact to show affection (platonic, familial, romantic, etc). Gift giving is also common because furry capitalists amirite. Ok maybe they’re-- they are just cats.

They are addisons and their last name is Addison! Imagine meeting someone called ‘[Name] Human’, it’s like that lol.

They’re mostly animal, but due to the nature of their world, some... digital and magic properties seep into their bodies as they grow up.

All addisons are born with pure white fur and black eyes, and the colors change as they grow up!

Usually the fur’s color has completely changed to its adult color(s) when they are around 11-12 years old. Eyes change color at around 1 year old.

Most parents are really protective of their babies, and they might not let anyone else visit them until they are around 3 months old. You really don’t want to fight an addison parent.

Their eyes change slightly under extreme emotions. For the lack of a better name, I call them ring eyes lol (examples: [1], [2], [3], [4])

Related to my Addisons: they all wore tailcoats when they first started working (each one at their respective ages).

All of them have magic to some degree, but they barely use it.

Taggew Addison (blue)

Eldest sibling (late 40s in DR) and the second shortest (163cm).

Diamond eyes! He keeps them closed most of the time.

A jack of all trades. He really didn’t have a choice.

He started working at a clothes shop, and he still works there. All the clothes he sells were made by Cidad.

Sings/hums whenever he’s working (if he’s alone or at home). 

Very gentlemanly and attentive. Friendly man with good manners.

Taggew owns a big collection of tea. He likes to drink it!

Hard-worker, I don’t think this man knows what taking a break is.

He has taken care of his brothers as long as he can remember. 

Taggew used to wear a tailcoat during his first years at work. But when he cut his hair, he changed the outfit as well.

When his younger brothers started working, he gave them one of his old tailcoats. He’d spend many sleepless nights sewing and fixing them up everytime they tore up or grew too loose/tight.

He’s the one that took Spamton’s disappearance the hardest. But he bottled it all up and never processed it. He doesn’t talk about it.

Paubli Addison (yellow)

Second oldest (mid 40s in DR) and the tallest (215cm). 

Physically the strongest! If there’s something to carry or move around, Paubli is the guy.

Despite his strength, he doesn’t really like getting into problems. He just wants to chill and enjoy things ya know.

The most friendly and energetic man you’ll ever meet.

Paubli doesn’t have an actual shop. He’ll help his brothers if they call him, but for the most part, what he does when he isn’t at home is a mystery.

Musically inclined, Paubli owns an electric guitar and plays it often.

Paubli is the one that cooks if Cidad can’t do it.

Cidad Addison (orange)

The third sibling, Paubli’s twin so they’re the same age (2 minutes younger lol). Height is 170cm.

Physically strong as well, he’s called if Paubli isn’t available.

Big smile in front of customers (sometimes eyes closed, too). Outside of work, he’s got a serious expression!

Smoking habit, he’s trying to get over it though.

Cidad doesn’t say much outside of work. Customer service is tiring.

Likes to keep his hands busy, he gets fidgety if he’s sitting still for long.

Runs his own tailor shop. He’s very good at sewing, and he’s the one that fixes the siblings’ clothes currently.

Also a very good cook! Cidad is usually the one that cooks for the rest.

Tired of being overlooked. Maybe he’s bitter that people ofteen seem to like his twin more than him.

Link Addison (pink)

The second youngest (mid 40s in DR) and the second tallest (202cm).

He's no second in sales though, Link is THE most popular of the five.

His fur was already pink when he was 8, and that’s probably when his self-love skyrocketed to narcissistic levels (/j... /hj).

Big charmer, he really tries to live up to the princely image lol.

His business is jewelry (took his father’s shop).

Sweet tooth, sugary-tasting things are comforting (mainly cotton candy).

Fan of ballet and fairytales, eminently if they come from the Light World. His current outfit was inspired by these (made by Cidad as a birthday gift).

Link is the strongest, magic-wise! He inherited his mother’s ice magic.

Do not let this man cook for you. Trust me, he is-- average, at best.

Spamton Addison (white)

The youngest (22 in 1997, early 40s in DR) and shortest (148cm).

Runt of the litter. HOW ARE YOU THAT SMALL.

His white fur is untamable. Local addison cannot be contained by a single hairbrush (he tries anyway).

The lines/marks under his mouth are fur patterns! He got them at the same time that his eyes changed color.

Ok maybe his fur didn’t change color and that hurted his self-esteem-- but hey, he got mom’s eyes!

He genuinely wants to impress his family. Become a Big Shot (maybe he took mom’s words too seriously).

He’s also good with magic— healing magic, that is. He isn’t aware of it though. He has healed people in the past without realizing, often his family.

They claim that when his hands touches where they were injured, the injuries were just... gone (they also swear they saw a small pair of wings briefly appear behind him whenever this happened)

Despite his size, this guy WILL fight you if you press his buttons.

Tends to imitate others a lot. Mostly if it’s people he admires or just popular people.

He doesn’t really smile much. He started doing it more when he started working (Taggew’s advice).

Incredibly excited when he finally got to wear his own tailcoat. He couldn’t stop flapping his hands when he saw himself in the mirror.

Stutters. A lot. Repeats words sometimes, too!

Runs his hands through his hair when he’s nervous/stressed.

Good at memorizing. He’s very good at remembering stuff, especially information regarding business.

I also think he’s good at explaining certain concepts. If you ask him about a concept that you find difficult, he’s good at simplifying it.

His laugh (the real one) is... SO loud. Sometimes sounds like he’s guffawing.

Talks a lot around his beloved ones, but barely says a word around strangers (takes him a while to warm up).

However, ask him about cars and he’ll go from shy to the wisest guy you’ve ever met. Be ready to be infodumped with every car fact ever.

He paints during his free time (which is often). He’s pretty good at it! Enviroments are his forte.

Fascinated with the Light World to a concerning degree.

No acid theory, society has progressed past the need for the acid theory (that involves future Spamton and not Addison Spamton but whatever!)

Jasper Addison (navy)

I haven’t really thought about his age, but he’s 165cm.

A jeweller! He mostly sells common jewelry, as well as repair them, but he also makes his own.

However, his original pieces tend to give people bad vibes.

One day, two of his best rings suddenly were gone without a trace... whoever has them, he hopes they’re aware of what they own.

He looks scary, but he’s actually not mean. The diamond eyes and perpetual big smile just make him look menacing lol.

Jasper can heat up his hands and his body tends to be warmer than the common addison’s, which makes dad the perfect furnace.

He used to keep Link close to him when his son was a baby/toddler. Link couldn’t control his ice powers, and he’d suddenly get cold sometimes.Both parents panicked the first time it happened.

Has the curious habit of greeting people with "Salutations".

Link worked alongside his father at first, and since he’s the only one of his sons that seems to understand his special jewelry, Jasper handed down his shop to him.

Expectedly, he didn’t take Spamton’s sudden disappearance well. He accidentally melted a watch he was fixing when he heard the news.

Peri O. Addison (cream with dark colorpoints)

Around the same age as Jasper, just a year older. She’s 220cm.

A journalist, somehow works in a newspaper even in the digital era.

She has always aimed to become a [Big Shot]. Often encouraged her sons to become [Big] people and live their lives [Free]ly.

At first it was for the fame, but eventually it evolved into just wanting to live comfortably with her family.

Active, lots of energy! One of the friendliest addisons ever.

Often brought Spamton to work when he was a baby due to being worried about his health during the first few years. It was a common sight to see Peri on the phone while holding her little angel in one arm.

Protective of her family, you don’t wanna anger this lady.

Loud and a little annoying if you aren’t used to her rhythm.

No matter their age, she still refers to her sons as ‘kittens’ (no she won’t stop it).

scenario; you come over to their practice to give them something they had forgotten. that’s it. chaos ensues,, sort of.

tooru oikawa

[reader’s age: 14]

You were certainly surprised when you had found out Tooru forgot his knee brace. He usually never forgot it. Anyways, you enter the gym, the team seemed busy with practice. You had to wait a bit until they got a break. “Nii-san.” You called out. The team instinctively turns to look at you. “You forgot your knee brace, you idiot.” Oikawa feigned hurt, putting a hand on his chest as he gasped.

“y/n-chan! You’re too mean to your brother! You never call me nii-chan or Tooru-nii anymore!” Oikawa whined as he went over to you.

“Hi Iwa-chan.” You greeted him. Much to his misfortune, you called Iwaizumi the same thing Tooru did. Though he tolerated you much more compared to how much he tolerated the older sibling. You look back at Oikawa, who was quietly whining about how you used to be adorable before junior high happened. “Take care of yourself, nii-san.” The sentence alone made the captain smile brightly at you and then smother you in a hug.

“Shitty-kawa!” The vice captain smacks his back, before pulling him by the shirt. “I’m sorry you have to deal with him on a daily basis..” Iwaizumi mutters, Oikawa calling out the male in protest about the statement.

“I should be saying that to you.”

“Iwa-chan and y/n-chan are so mean to me!”

kageyama tobio

[reader’s age: 19]

You weren’t surprised when you found out Tobio forgot his money for his usual vending machine milk. You’re a little irked that he had forgotten his money but relived that he didn’t leave it in a more public area. But you were gonna scold him anyways because that’s your job as the older sister.

“Tobio, you idiot.” You can see your younger brother flinch at your words. “How many times do I have to tell you to make sure you have everything in the morning?” The team is watching this whole exchange with surprised eyes.

“Wow! Kageyama has a girl?!” Nishinoya says surprised. Your face scrunches up in disgust.

“Ew. I would never date this idiot. He’s too dumb with socializling.” You said bluntly as said male glares at you.

“Nee-san, shut up!”

“N-nee-san?!” the team looks at you and Kageyama in surprise. “You have a sister?!”

“Hi Shoyo!” You smiled sweetly at the short male, who in turn blushes pink at the sudden attention from you. “Thank you for taking care of Kageyama!” While it seemed like you were directing it at Shoyo, you were really just directing it to everyone in the team.

“Y-yes!” Shoyo stutters as you ruffled his hair, before looking back at Kageyama.

“Have a good practice. I’m making your favorite for dinner. Take care of yourself.” You bonked your brother’s head as he pouted slightly at your words.

“Y-yes, nee-san. Thank you.” He muttered as you smiled brightly. Needless to say, Kageyama was bombarded with questions right after you left.

sugawara koushi

[reader’s age: 12]

You usually don’t go out of your way to do stuff like this because most of the time, your brother was really responsible. But you supposed even he made mistakes. It was no question that you looked up to him. You always thought he was so cool and you wanted to be like him. Moments like these make you remember that he makes mistakes just as much as you do.

“Hello?” You entered the gym, rather nervous. You weren’t as social as your brother. You were much quieter than your older sibling but you were fine with that.

“Ah, y/n-chan, what are you doing here?” Suga went over to you.

“You forgot this, Nii-san.” He smiled as you handed him the stuff he had forgotten. Soon you feel his hand pinch your cheek. “Ow!”

“y/n-chan, you’re so sweet! Thank you!”

“Please stop it, nii-san..” Your voice slightly garbled as he continues to pinch your cheek. It gets a bit more painful as you can see that familiar look in his eyes.

“WHY DID YOU WALK HERE ON YOUR OWN, WHAT IF YOU GOT HURT? I OUGHTA TEACH YOU A LESSON, Y/N-CHAN.” he was now pinching both both cheeks as you continued to whine at the pain. The first years are very confused by the whole situation. Soon, your hands fly up to pinch his cheeks.

“Stop it, nii-san! I’ll pinch your cheeks even harder.” There’s some competitive aura around you both as you both bicker. “Let me go home!”

“Stay here and wait until practice is over, you little gremlin!” Suga huffed.

“Fine!”

“Fine!”

kenma kozume

[reader’s age: 17]

You were shocked to find Kenma’s PSP not with him for once. You didn’t have any after school activities unlike your twin brother so, you were usually home much earlier than him. You found his PSP laying on his bed. You figured you would at least go and give it to him. You know how much he complains about the team and how unbearable practice can be.

“Kenma, you forgot your PSP, idiot.” You had walked in the gym like it was nothing. Kuroo was very familiar with your presence as you basically saw him with Kenma for so long. 

“Oh...thanks.” You can feel how relieved he was to get it back.

“Stop staying up late.”

“I could say the same thing about you, y/n.”

You glare at him as he glares back at you. Both glares are barely threatening because to the team, it just looks like two kittens looking at each other.

“You’re not gonna say hi to me, y/n-chan?”

“No.” You said bluntly as Kuroo playfully clutches his hand on his chest, feigning pain.

“I’d punt you out of here if I could.”

Surprise surprise this episode sucked, I'm rly over it. I hate that I'm actually glad this arc is over like seriously I wish I loved this show still I wish I wasn't so fuckin invested and disappointed I want to love the show that my ship is in and I hate that I'm actually glad it's ending. Ugh. UGH. I hate that I'm actually looking forward to caryl going canon bc it means the buildup is over and I know they're gonna fuck up the build up. UGH!!!!

Anyway I'm just gonna start my 10c 11a 11b rewrite now. Leave the missing moments until after the series is over. I'm gonna make a list of moments that we should have seen tho bc no fuckin way am I ever gonna rewatch this season lol.

Omg I didn't even realize that they blew up Barrington house lol. "We've been talking about luck a lot" Oh right when else did they talk about luck? Wasn't that with Carol and Daryl? With double capper acorns? With "we have luck on our side" and "our luck has run out" like it JUST fucking happened! Where are THOSE callbacks?!

Overall disappointed but not the least bit surprised. Underwhelmed once more. Truly insane just how shitty this season has been so far. Glad this block is over and looking forward to all the fix it fic coming this hiatus. Ugh.

Can we just talk about the ending of KawoShin open discuss. *sort of spoilerish*

I feel like I’m the only one who’s like reallly disappointed LMFAO--ya’ll there’s so much “canon” alternative universe and merchandise for Kawoshin in Evangelion that it kind of makes me upset to realise this couple just went down the drain. Yeah, I can see how people were like, “Kaworu’s toxic” or “Kaworu has a hero complex for Shinji” to which I say are valid points. But the toxic thing I feel like can also be applied to pretty much everyone around Shinji tbh, except for Rei. I did NOT, like Asuka at all but I really love her character though, and I felt for her a lot throughout the series.

I did not ship them either because honestly, Shinji and Asuka seemed better off playing the sibling dynamic instead of trying to play bf/gf which honestly is kind of forced by their living situation. Also since they’re in a similar disposition non existent father and dead mother, you’d imagine they would rely on each other for emotional comfort. Though Asuka—her personality I feel like she can’t differentiate between familial love and romantic love and the affection she wants is a bit of both. But, her character tries to be “mature”; she wants romantic love more and does this through sexual means and romantic gestures e.g. like kissing. One of my friends told me that you can’t stay friends as a boy and a girl cause eventually you catch feelings. Which I say is kinda dumb cause I have a lot of male friends, and I definitely don’t harbour those feelings, but I guess it’s a common phenomena.

I think this is what happens in this case, of Asuka and Shinji. Even after rejection of instrumentality they actually are depicted as childhood friends. But knowing how they both were before to each other, it was not good tbh. Also to mention the choking like thrice— bro if anything, this showcases a really abusive relationship and I think this outstretches the idea of their character tropes. Which I firmly stand by saying they’re superficial to each other. AsuShin were never really there for each other and are using each other in a forced situation. However, you can’t deny that they didn’t at some point catch feels, also Shinji is pretty consistent how he still cares about everyone around him. Which I really like how they add that to his character because it reminiscent of Yui, because you see a duality of both his parents personality in Shinji throughout the series—it’s a really nice touch. But bruh, if we gonna talk about that coma scene—I’m out LOL.

Thoughhhh, she is a true definition of best girl I really like her arc, fighting drive, and her skills as an Eva pilot 😭💗--but bruh she’s still a toxic and sometimes annoying tsundere trope, but still she’s 14 what can you do. So I feel like Kensuke and Asuka are actually a pretty good combo, cause he’s always been pretty mature even without parents. Also Asuka was into older guys, so I guess this is a win win?? Also Rei and Shinji, I honestly cannot get my head around it cause that’s pretty much his mom—so in a way that’s like either his half-sister or mom-ish clone?? Idk but Yui is definitely the donor LOL.

Kaworu and Shinji I felt like brought a bunch of things out of each other. I don’t know which timeline begins first, but I’d like to think the manga, the anime (plus its movies), and then to the rebuild series. Because I think that order is kind of pivotal to observing Kaworu’s character development from being a person who’s trying to understand human feelings to then the kinder person we see in the final series. You can tell how he’s changed and he knows Shinji a lot more as well as being considerate to him e.g. giving him personal space or letting him work at his own pace. Also that “we’ll meet again.” Is an obvious nod to how he’s done this before.

His literal story in every timeline is always romantic LOL, like bruh I can’t remember which game it was but basically a bad ending of Kawoshin route is that you reject Kaworu and he starts the third impact 🤡. Also I don’t know why but I started to see a weird dynamic between those two, in the manga their interactions reminded me of Asuka and Shinji—which Shinji is the tsundere Asuka here. I don’t know if this is relevant but the older character relative to the character they’re with seems to play off a mature vs a childish person trope. Asuka is younger than Shinji and Shinji is actually younger than Kaworu. Then again I could be overseeing this but istg manga Kaworu and Shinji mirror the whole Asushin dynamic. Like he’s seriously agressive against Kaworu, then after killing him he admits liking him. 🤡 I don’t know which is funnier no homo Shinji, homophobe shinji, or just closet Shinji who needs to realise sexuality is a spectrum so he could’ve idk—come out as bisexual, but whatever manga Shinji lol that timeline is over.

Anyways the development of these two is real and I think the rebuild timeline shows them at their best bringing their own personage out from each other like how they both enjoy music together--WHICH I’M SO SAD WE NEVER GET TO SEE THAT CELLO AGAIN. Then there’s those feelings of humanity, love, kindness, etc. Which yeah an angel could represent those things, but Kaworu is still his own person, self-aware of a cycle and if you think about how he initially was there to USE Shinji, but ultimately turned on that plan set by SEELE because he loved Shinji (and a bunch of other things like him showing Kaworu humanity). I also can see the argument, how “ideal” Kaworu is to Shinji, but he’s more self aware of the time he has before he KNOWS he’ll die and knows how to act for himself in that duration to make the most of it. All with Shinji. At some point, I think he fell in love with Shinji tho I don’t know where it began tbh—considering that all those alternate universes do exist. Kaworu does romantically love Shinji--so, in some universe they both reciprocate their feelings to each other. 

In the last movie during that convo with Shinji. Like bREH it’s so emotionally moving because Kaworu remembers ALLLLL the timelines and how he’s been with Shinji and later Shinji himself recalls the events too. Where they show the scene from the manga and anime. Kaworu cries after being set free from the EVA cycle. Which, I definitely understood what he meant by him saying “it’ll be lonely” and how Shinji changed or that he’s actually different this time.

Either way, Shinji did right by him because it’s always Kaworu who has the purpose of “trying to save Shinji” but it always ends up the same. I thought that was really moving because Shinji tells Kaworu he’s gonna let him live a life for himself for once and he wants the same for everyone as well. Which was honestly so meaningful cause I think Kaworu’s character and like Rei too when they start to realise how to “live” like a person and not another puppet it’s truly liberating. Another thing I forgot, bruh Kaworu calls Gendo his father and ngl I feel like this is kind of a weird lore situation because I for sure don’t think he’s the donor. I think he calls him that as an insult because he knows Gendo’s whole doing and relative to Shinji—I kind of see it as a joke LOL. Like it’s equivalent to saying, “daddy chill”, or “hey look it’s daddy and his plans to end the world” also I kind of like to think of it as a father in law thing cause you know, Kawoshin *winks amirite*

The ending, I’m honestly hoping is just an open ending because it gives everything an actual start of their adult lives not being dictated by extraterrestrial forces. Though, I’m kind of wondering if the world doesn’t have EVAs does that still mean everyone else still has the same backstory, and do they remember? Maybe Mari really is just a coworker lmfao, and there’s still a chance for Kaworu and Shinji cause ngl, they did have a convo (presumably from the spoilers) about still remaining close afterwards and that stare at the ending seems very hopeful.

I call bs from Anno saying, “oh Shinji is based off him and Mari off of his wife”, like honestly any OCs made theres always some part of yourself made into that character. Which is probably why a lot of people relate to the characters in EVA because they’re based off real things (e.g. those war machines characters are named after and people around them). I think why Kaworu and Rei are together at the end, is bc they’re very much the same. They’re mass produced dolls—which oddly enough that’s the case for all the children except they don’t recall the loop. Kind of funny also how both Kaworu and Rei became farmers lmfao so ig it runs in the family (yes that’s right I like the idea that they’re siblings it was always noted that they’re like “the same”).

Another thing, i think why the rebuild really did well for Kawoshin and in my opinion canonised it—the convo with elder Ryoji Kaji (Misato’s baby daddy) that there was a time he felt incredibly lonely and depressed thinking Misato didn’t love him and so he started looking out for himself. So self love and found himself a hobby in farming which he suggests to Kaworu—basically saying he might feel like Shinji doesn’t love him but he’s gotta remember to take care of himself. if I go thru a breakup ill feel like it’s the end of the world but Kaji says y’a gotta self love broe and take care yo self gad dam fam 😭 💗.

Though, that look at the end from Shinji to Kaworu—I’d like to believe there is still hope that one day when they’re a bit stable in their adult lives, they’ll run into each other.

tbh, i looked up the entire plot to hollow knight on tvtropes before looking at any part of the game itself, never expecting to give a damn. so i thought oh, they’re sad and a little scary-looking...and that’s about it.

while it’s not unpopular, it is divisive: the idea that they wouldn’t blame the pale king for his fucked up plan and being angry at him, instead turning it into self-hatred and a sense of failure unless someone else steps in.

my genuine first impressions were from collecting information over paying a tiny bit of attention to gaming stuff in general over the past couple decades, and was skewed a bit by thinking final fantasy was for a younger crowd than it actually is. i thought Sephiroth worked for a company called Jenova, was a solider alongside Cloud as an equal, and ended up going off after being experimented on and given wings, and that he lost one of ‘em by probably getting ripped off by Cloud. also i knew he had the one-winged angel theme iconic and a lot of people think he’s a very badass and scary boss villain. 

my more solidly recent “first” impression that i feel counts was the smash bros. trailer, where i was impressed and like “oh, he’s cool! neat, i’m going to actually pay attention to this guy.”

okay yeah he is impressively powerful, but oh my god. oh my god. i had no clue the dude was such a fucking wreck, man. his life was such a pile of trauma. he is such a desperate, lonely person who was puppeted and used his entire life. holy fuck. i love him. i want him to have a friend

the expanded reactor scene in crisis core. watching his life fully fall apart and him fall apart too. very painful and fascinating to watch.

Idea for a story

hmm. i’m not actually familiar enough with all of the FF7 canon to not just parrot a million fics i’de read, so sticking to smash: being forced into semi-sane and weaker state by the Hands for a chance to actually participate in the tournament aspect (and not kill everyone), slowly falling apart again internally as he has a chance to be himself while acting like his usual unsettling calamity’s son on the outside, and accidentally forming bonds with other smashers when they see through the act. bowser in particular, since he’s a very hammy villain, but also has big Dad Instinct and he deserves a good dad figure. can’t do fuckin worse than hojo amirite

Unpopular opinion

i don’t actually think it matters whether or not jenova was a sentient being responsible for manipulating sephiroth, or if jenova was fully taken over by sephiroth’s will--either way, he was goddamn sick. it doesn’t matter. diseases, viruses, parasites in general will fuck up peoples’ senses and reasonability even if they’re not goddamn space magic and i think arguing it’s all sephiroth’s fault is ignoring this.

also, as much as i enjoy angsty fic about it, i don’t think he actually grew up in the labs. i feel like it would’ve twigged that he was more than “a special existence” if he was blatantly used as a lab rat for most of his life.

my friend i am here with the self insert oc sam parallel episode, i have a history exam tomorrow and i refuse to revise in favor of writing this. let me take you on a journey.

this is very self indulgent and spans kind of the entirety of the series (because im nosy and want to be involved in every cool plot) so im not gonna embarrass myself OR bore you but the general gist of the first episode is this:

i am an 18yr old psychic kid raised by a hunter, meeting the boys in s2 through a “my father was also murdered by a ghost of his past”, except he did not immediately assume i am the antichrist while i was an infant and raised me relatively normal, thus demonstrating that john winchester was a fucked up parent because he allowed himself to be.

i am what sam could’ve been and he is once again reminded that all he ever wanted was to be normal and loved and how that was taken away from him, unfairly. he is angry. he is jealous. he feels bad about being jealous because “her dad’s dead, what the fuck,man”. he wants me to be ok, ultimately, ofc he does, but he doesn’t understand why i got it, why he didn’t, why couldn’t john do it. this serves as more material for soul-searching bc i am a firm believer that understanding the circumstances of abuse and neglect and wrapping ur head around them helps lift the guilt we often burden ourselves with: it’s not that if sam had been a better son john would have loved him more, it’s that john refused to look at sam for what sam really was: a child wracked by generational trauma and unprocessed grief, whose autonomy was violated before he could say his first word, in need of love, and chose to instead look at sam through his own grief muddied goggles and link him to mary’s death. insane how this is turning into sam analysis isn’t it.

i am also angry because im still sort of a child but not really, not anymore, im on the cusp of adulthood and going into it knowing that the world is unfair and hateful, grief is written all over me and sam thinks oh nono, because hope’s kind of the whole point isn’t it, and i had it and now it has been taken from me along with my parent and sam feels so alone and furious with everything, he’s plagued by skull cracking demonic visions, and he doesn’t want this idealized version of himself to ultimately end up like the version of himself that he is now, the one he doesn’t understand, the one he’s afraid of. he’s looking in a weird funhouse mirror, sees a kid who was different like he was but was cherished, and sees her end up in the same position he is now: fatherless, on a quest for revenge. he thinks that if we get the monster of the week, ill be better and he’ll find his hope in that. all roads lead to rome but he wont allow this one to reach the colosseum (defying destiny theme, hello).

the monster of the week hunt begins thusly, with sam generally uncomfortable. i confide in him about my psychic abilities and i explain to the brothers that i can help. both are opposed, but i am a chaotic little bitch and get involved anyway. throughout my involvement, sam learns more about the world of psychic mediums and thinks aha! hope! maybe if i dig deep enough (whore for lore amirite babes) ill find someone who’s lived an experience similar to mine! miss oc what are ur book recs for “i think i am psychic and terrified of it” and i say “fear not nerd have a very small cup of coffee and let me tell you about this great college course on divination”. this is relevant because i wanted to see more of sam desperately trying to fit into some sort of community, even a community of supernatural folk john and dean might’ve disapproved of, and finding that, at this point in time, he does not. he’s an outsider to normal people, he’s an outsider to those in contact with the paranormal. really hammer in that freak (affectionate) tagline. (he WILL build a safe haven in the men of letters bunker for all misfits in his adulthood, party city wig sam i do NOT perceive you)

the hunt culminates in an impressive showdown that includes the following: pyrotechnics, a cool spell, seeing things that aren’t really there, the power of friendship and a butter knife thrown like a frisbee. at the end we all look like final girls because im gay so blood is sexy. sam, who has come to regard me like a younger sibling/some sort of manifestation of his inner child, learns what it’s like to be deeply concerned with a youth’s safety and has a heart to heart with dean about how yeah, handling a teenager with incredible amounts of simmering rage and unprocessed grief while being barely equipped for any guardian-like role IS hard, man, is this what it felt like every time i busted out a batshit plan last minute and barely executed it in time to survive??? “yeah. bitch” “jerk.”

the epilogue is as follows: we see sam feeling many complicated things, but he is satisfied for the moment. we have a little heart to heart while laying flowers on my father’s grave. we both look a little worse for wear, but hopeful. “what’re you gonna do now?” “im not sure. college, maybe?” we keep in touch. i go on to art school and make homoerotic art pieces, as is my right. i make guest appearances whenever they need a deus ex machina bs spell to get out of trouble.

maybe in later seasons i go a little ape shit and commit some magical atrocities in the name of the greater good. maybe i get a little antagonized and he gets to offer me the understanding he couldn’t get when he needed it. i see you, sam, treating all misfits in later seasons with kindness, and i offer you a claire-like parallel to be there for through the tough times, thus healing some of your own wounds. everyone deserves an angsty wlw teenager to bond with . (i am only on season 9 of my rewatch and i have not seen seasons 12-15 in their entirety, if he does get one im not disrespecting that character and i love them probably)

Sweet Elite... MCL style remake because I love suffering

Look, I know we all have trauma because of MCL but I've decided to transform that trauma into comedy because RIP MCL tbh.

Okay so uh. First things first, Tadashi VS Axel, right? They hate eachother but they secretly really love eachother and respecc eachother that's obviously why Axel decided to help when Tadashi's father was being a 🤡 Their hatred becomes bromance but then when Sweet Elite University comes around they'll hate eachother again to go back to their initial dynamic because... fuck development amirite?

Oh and Karolina? A complete bitch, she'll hate Scholar only because she finds them ugly and she hates poor people. No other reason at all. She bullies Scholar by blackmailing her and locking her up in basements. Neha is just mindlessly following her because she's her lackey, not her friend and she just really needs Karol to model for Rao designs. They don't actually have a genuine bond or anything. And Neha is a migrant btw. She's fleeing from the Indian government because her parents said "YOLO" and tried to save Indian women from all the bullshit they have to go through. Also, Neha is pansexual and secretly a lawyer.

Later we'll find out that Karolina's twin brother, Tegan, was being abused by their father but Karolina never noticed because... she thought that it's normal to be harsher with sons than with daughters...? And the reason why the father was doing it is because he lost his job, and the person who took his place reminded him of his son too much so out of frustration he let it all out on Tegan. Totally makes sense, right?

Oh and, Claire? You love Claire, right? She's so kind and cute and all? Well GUESS WHAT?! She almost dies!!! Yes that's right! She'll get in a traffic accident because she forgot to look both ways before crossing the road and then when she awakens in the hospital it turns out that she lost her memories!! She has amnesia!! Oh but she still somehow remembers that she had a crush on her best friend: Raquel. They have a heart to heart then Claire's memories come back because uh... whatever. They just come back okay?

Then um,... Tyler! You like Tyler huh? He's so funny and cool, he's a good dude and all. Well GUESS WHAT?? He was adopted because everyone knows that James Cameron doesn't have black children obviously 🙄 Oh but Tyler really wants to know what happened to his real parents!! So he asks Tegan to use his hacking skills instead of asking his adoptive parents for answers! But oh boy! They find that Tyler's parents are dead and he only has an older brother left! But that older brother was one of Raquel's close friends when they were younger so Raquel really idolizes him and tries to copy his toxic behaviour! Thankfully Scholar helps Raquel to get her back to normal. Raquel just had self-confidence issues all long but it's fine now 👍

Then um. Alistair... he has really loving parents but they decide to get divorced because they don't love eachother anymore! Alistair is heartbroken because he feels really bad for his younger siblings and he has the feeling that they'll never be happy again... but whatever! He sucks it up because who cares about his feelings!

Getting back to Axel tho, let's say that he had a toxic ex and she came back to Arlington! He listens to everything she says in hopes that maybe she'll get back with him... because fuck Scholar amirite? All this time they spent together? Gone. He only trusts his ex unless there's solid proof for uh... whatever bad thing she did in the past.

And Ellie... uh... OMG! I have a great idea guys!! She's a drug dealer! Who gives a damn about making some dumb robots? She gives up on her dreams and hard work to sell drugs because at one point she really loved smoking 'em. But oh no! She's so gangsta that the police is after her! Oh but actually nevermind, she was working with the police to send the drug dealers to prison. Too bad that they stabbed her and she lost a lot of blood! Thankfully Tegan had the brains to call the ambulance instead of listening to her saying that "Ohh 🙄🙄 it's just a small cut, it's gonna be totally fine guys! 👌👌"

Now let's quickly wrap up Sweet Elite so we can make Sweet Elite University! So uh. Your crushes? You love them? You spend years trying to woo them? Well forget that lol because we don't actually give a shit about our customers' feelings. You break up with all of them and we'll bring back only 4 of the main 10 because we need 6 new characters! So uh. Let's just say Tadashi, Axel, Karolina and Claire make it into Sweet Elite University because they won in the popularity polls so they're basically our pikachus, we can't throw them away!!!

And for the new main 10 uh... Let's add a teacher, yeah? That's hot right? Everyone knows that y'all wanted Coach D's d so let's just say his wife died in a terrorist attack or something, sounds good? Cool! Now you can date someone who's like 15 years older than Scholar. Oh and, since it was too painful for him to stay in Arlington after his wife's death Coach D got like, into a really emo phase so now he's an art teacher in Sweet Elite University. Oh and Scholar is an art student so it'll make it easier for you to frick your teacher. The departments? Oh who cares about that lol. The canon route was the fine arts department, okay? Also you won't get to customize your Scholar anymore, she only has straight long hair because according to the poll that was the most used hairstyle for Scholar! You can only customize her hair, eye and skin colors because oh boy we love diversity!!

Talking about diversity! One of the new main 10 will be a Korean boi because k-pop is really trendy lately. Let's also add another Indian. Bring back Neha instead of making a new character? Oh no, sowwy we don't dow twat hewe 😥

We just really want new players so we're changing everything, sorry if you thought this was an actual continuation of Sweet Elite. Haven't you realized it yet? The OG Sweet Elite is dead, okay? No need to cry though! All the rest of the canceled main 10 are doing fine! They're probably working in a farm after their parents died or something, but no worries! They're happy!
