Quavo, the renowned rapper from the Migos, has taken a significant step in transforming his grief into action by hosting the inaugural Rocket Foundation Summit at the Carter Center in Atlanta. This event, held on what would have been the late rapper Takeoff's 30th birthday, aimed to address and combat gun violence. Joined by Vice President Kamala Harris, Quavo led discussions on community violence intervention and youth programs, marking a pivotal moment in his ongoing efforts to honor his nephew’s legacy. Migos Rapper Quavo Hosts The Tragic Loss of Takeoff A Devastating Incident Takeoff, a member of the Migos and Quavo’s nephew, was tragically killed in a shooting incident in Houston in 2022. Police reports indicated that Takeoff was an innocent bystander caught in the crossfire during an altercation over a dice game. His untimely death shocked the music industry and fans worldwide, highlighting the pervasive issue of gun violence. Grieving and Moving Forward For Quavo, the loss of Takeoff has been a profound and ongoing source of grief. "It’s super hard every day. I’m still crying. I’m still grieving. I’m still mourning," Quavo shared during the summit. Despite the immense pain, he has found solace and purpose in launching the Rocket Foundation, which focuses on community violence intervention and aims to prevent similar tragedies. The Rocket Foundation Summit Honoring Takeoff’s Legacy The Rocket Foundation Summit was strategically scheduled on Takeoff's birthday to honor his memory and amplify the mission of reducing gun violence. Quavo emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, “This is my second calling. This is very personal to me. That’s what makes my drive and motivation to go even harder.” High-Profile Participation The summit featured a fireside chat with Vice President Kamala Harris, who praised Quavo’s efforts to turn his tragedy into a movement for positive change. Harris remarked, “To translate that pain and grief into something that is about creating strength and empowerment in the community — including our young — is pretty extraordinary.” Panel Discussions and Youth Programs The one-day summit included several panel discussions focusing on gun violence prevention, the importance of youth programs, and community intervention strategies. Participants included survivors of gun violence, community leaders, and policy advocates, all working towards a common goal of reducing gun-related incidents. Key Initiatives and Programs The Sparks Grant Program Earlier this year, Quavo and the Rocket Foundation launched the Sparks Grant program, designed to support organizations dedicated to minimizing community violence. The program aims to award $100,000 in grants to Atlanta-focused initiatives, demonstrating Quavo’s commitment to making a tangible impact on the ground. Community Engagement and Support Quavo highlighted the importance of direct involvement in community efforts, stating, “I’m on the ground. I’m working. We’re getting things done. We’re getting results. We’re raising real money. We’re going down into the real communities where the problem has been an issue.” This hands-on approach is crucial in building trust and fostering effective violence prevention programs. The Role of Celebrity Influence Leveraging Fame for Change Quavo has utilized his platform and influence to bring attention to the pressing issue of gun violence. Vice President Harris acknowledged this during their discussion, saying, “You have chosen to use your celebrity and the gifts you have as an artist to talk about and work on with action. It’s extraordinary. You are an incredible leader. A national leader on this.” Building Partnerships One of Quavo’s goals is to establish more partnerships between the Rocket Foundation and governmental bodies, including the White House. He believes that collaborative efforts are essential to creating widespread awareness and developing sustainable solutions to combat gun violence. Looking Ahead Continuing the Mission Quavo is determined to continue his mission to honor Takeoff’s legacy and prevent further violence. He hopes the summit will lead to more significant collaborations and increased visibility for the cause. “It hits hard when it hits home,” he said. “We’re trying to avoid that. Just because it’s next door, you don’t close your door. You can open the door and help your neighborhood.” National Awareness Quavo aims to raise national awareness about gun violence and community intervention. “It’s joining hands with the world and making sure this awareness is on a national billboard. That’s my platform,” he asserted. His dedication to this cause underscores the potential for celebrities to drive meaningful social change.

Community! At Sunrise Project we celebrate community. A Yogi Kitchen and Pantry joins Sunrise to feed our community and offer Community Yoga every Sunday. Wednesday, I joined Melissa and Nancy for the Growing Roots program “connecting youth to good food through growing, cooking and eating!” Last week the youth requested salad. So we created a salad bar! And it was sophisticated. There were spring greens, radishes, two kinds of olives, shaved parmesan, croutons grape tomatoes from the @thesunriseproject Community Garden. In addition there was fresh fruit, cut and whole. One Central student made two big salads and grabbed fruit to take home to share with his sick brother who left school early. The salads they were beautiful. The kids were kind, compassionate and funny. It was a great Wednesday! We need volunteers to help with programs. Go to Sunrise’s website, link in their bio, to sign up and to commit to their Big Impact Campaign. For $10 a month you can support our programs. Join us Sunday for Community Yoga at our new time, 6p central, this Sunday. It’s a donation-based, all-level class for EVERY body. Your donation helps put gas in our car to deliver groceries to families we sponsor, keeps the WiFi on to teach classes, buys extra ingredients to cook meals to put in the fridge on the Porch Pantry at Sunrise. Can’t make it to yoga? You can donate on the @ayogikitchen website, link in the bio, or use the QR code above to help us feed people, teach people and create community. Join us Wednesday for our Community Meal at Sunrise. We’re making Chicken Noodle Soup. If you want to learn how to make soup from scratch, join us. If you want a home cooked meal join us from 5-6p. It will be a lovely day to sit out at the picnic tables with your friends, visit the @lawrencelibrary mobile truck and connect with your community! Donations are so appreciated, but never required. See you in community! 🧘🏽‍♀️🍽💪🏽 #food #foodporn #community #connection #growingroots #youth #youthprogram #communityprograms #bigimpact #mindfulness #communityyoga #salad #fruit #wholefoods #ayogikitchen #lfk #lawrenceks #lawrence #lawrencekansas #kansas (at Sunrise Project) https://www.instagram.com/p/CjI1cNprGgf/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Youth Outreach Fundraiser. At Sunshine Coast Community Services Society (SCCSS) we're on a mission to empower and uplift our youth, but we need your help to make it happen! Every year, more and more young people turn to us for support and guidance, and the demand for our Youth Services programs is growing. DONATE at https://give-can.keela.co/sccss-youth-services-donation-form
ABOUT Here's how your donations make a difference:
A Growing Need for Shelter and Security
We're witnessing an increase in houselessness and housing insecurity among our youth. Many have no choice but to couch surf, uncertain where they'll rest their heads each night. Your generous donations can be a lifeline, providing essential resources to ensure they have a safe and stable place to call home.
Protecting Youth Online
In an increasingly digital world, a growing concern is the rise in online exploitation. We're seeing an increase in cases of grooming, targeting, and other forms of online harm. Your support enables us to educate and empower young individuals about online safety, providing them with the tools to navigate the virtual landscape with confidence and resilience.
Building Connections and Community
With your donations, we can organize more events throughout the year that foster community connection, awareness of available resources, and a sense of belonging for youth. These events are not just fun; they're vital in reducing isolation and nurturing the growth of strong, resilient youth.
Providing Essential Resources
Sometimes it's access to the basics that deliver the biggest impact. Your contributions can help us provide essential items to our youth as they transition to independence. From kitchen tools and bedding to grocery gift cards, you are providing youth in need with the foundation they need to build a bright future.
How You Can Help
Your generosity has the power to transform lives. By donating to SCCSS Youth programs, you're not just giving money—you're giving hope, support, and a sense of community.
Donate today at https://give-can.keela.co/sccss-youth-services-donation-form

The recipient of February's Giving Tap is Winter4Kids, a non-profit, youth-serving organization located at the Campus of The National Winter Activity Center in Vernon, NJ. Some people may remember the location as the old “Hidden Valley” ski resort. ❄️ Through outdoor activities and program enrichment, Winter4Kids helps children build skills for life. The life-changing outcomes are that children develop better attitudes towards Self (self-esteem, confidence, resiliency), Health (physical activity, mental, nutritional), Opportunity (sports, academic, life), Mastery (being one’s personal best) and a love of the Outdoors! ❄️ Winter4Kids exists to create healthy lifestyles for youth, and in the wintertime, provide opportunities through a development program to be active and healthy by learning snow skills, namely skiing, snowboarding and cross-country. Nutritious, homemade meals, snow clothing and equipment, and program enrichment are included. Life skills and core values are the heart of the curriculum, with mentorship as a critical component. Their dedicated staff and volunteers connect with kids to impart that they have opportunities in life that they did not think they could have or have access to. ❄️ During the summer, Winter4Kids continues to provide a fun, welcoming and safe place for kids to come and stay active. They offer a weekly camp with unique activities such as archery, biathlon, mountain trail biking, orienteering, hydroponics and culinary, robotics, hiking and arts and crafts. Nutritious meals are always included, and kids get to make kid-friendly dishes using ingredients from their hydroponic garden. ❄️ So, come have a beer from our Giving Tap (it's our Baltic Porter!) because Winter4Kids will receive $1.00 for each draft sold on that tap during February! Must be 21 or older. ❄️ @winter4kids_ #kroghs #kroghbar #brewpub #brewpubnj #thegivingtap #drinkbeer #drinkbeeranddonate #donateforagoodcause #charity #lendahelpinghand #connectivity #giveback #community #youthprograms #wintersports #summersports #youthactivities #healthylifestyle #supportkids #handcraftbeer #handcraftbeernj #craftbeer #craftbeernj #lakemohawk #lakemohawknj #spartanj (at Krogh's Restaurant & Brew Pub) https://www.instagram.com/p/CoH8IU3Oust/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
