Thoughts on this video on the reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone and also the article that it cures which claims the Yellowstone narrative is factually inaccurate?
BAHAHAHA I am fucking CACKLING.
Okay so this video:
youtube
was posted in late 2020 and BOY HOWDY is it a wild ride. Because I need a distraction and am feeling particularly petty right now I'll see if I can break down the video and it's... um... "facts".
Before I start though the dudes YouTube is chock full of extreme vegan takes so I wouldn't say he's the top tier candidate for good sources lol.
"Introduction"
The beginning is meh. Y'know the usual thing some Youtubers do with the whole "is this really true???" thing with unreasonable amount of suspicion? yeah. He pretty much makes comments on how maybe the reintroduction of wolves into YNP wasn't the "incredible success story that it was made out to be." Which I feel like the, y'know, the many hundreds of research papers on the wolf reintroduction into YNP and the massive benefits it's created kinda contradicts? but I mean what do I know.
"Yellowstone narrative is misleading"
So this part opens up with this video (which I don't feel like watching rn if I were being honest so I'll save that for later) that blew up a bit ago regarding how wolves change rivers, and the claim that it was misleading, untrue, etc. The youtuber (who we shall call Hancock because "Youtuber" will get boring) uses this source to stake the claim that the positive impact wolves have had on rivers in YNP isn't true.
As we would know if we actually did research and didn't talk out of our ass, wolves didn't directly affect the rivers just by hunting elk, but beavers as well. Aspen and willow are, surprise surprise! a favorite food of beavers. Prior to wolf reintroduction riverbeds and waterways in YNP were in terrible shape, mainly due to erosion and lack of support from water loving plants, which are... tada! willow and aspen! Beavers and elk chowed down on these plants in huge amounts due to their numbers being so vastly out of control due to lack of predators. So when wolves came around and started hunting the plentiful beavers and elk, the willow and aspen were basically like "oh shit! we aren't being eaten to the point where we're all dying!! lets grow more!!" and in turn the more willow and aspen = more footing for the soil along waterbeds which means the rivers were saved. Some of this was mentioned in the article that was linked but wasn't mentioned by Hancock so idk what's up with that.
To sum it up, wolves made an impact! And it's silly to just write that off completely!! I think my issue with this part is that Hancock completely writes wolves impact on the environment off, which is frankly ridiculous. The original video may have overstated it a bit, but it's not like it doesn't exist.
"The balance of ecosystems"
Hancock then talks about the complexity of the YNP food chain (kinda), and how some people feel the need to restore the balance in nature if we humans fuck it up which?? like yeah?? we should?? He goes into a schpeel about values or whatever and if we value certain ecosystems over others??? Idk I was NOT tracking.
He mentions his thoughts on "which balance is best for the animals that live there". Goes on slight anthropomorphizing tangent then dives into the next part...:
"Ecology of fear"
Ah, lads, we are back in biology class aren't we. Except this time we are anthropomorphizing the hell out of everything! "The deer are afraid of being eaten alive, so afraid that they sometimes choose to eat less..."
Okay, did anyone tell this guy that the amount of food the herbivores (ungulates namely) before wolves were reintroduced was literally killing everything? Without wolves to balance the prey populations out they overgrazed, populations skyrocketed and so did disease.
The rest of this is a tangent, so I'll skip over it.
"Wolves suffered too"
Hancock cites the outbreaks of canine distemper disease that have occurred in YNP since reintroduction. This is a bit of a mute point, since canine distemper can fuck any canine population up whether it's a brand new reintroduced group of wolves or they've been there for decades.
Also, can we note how he talks about canine distemper then shows a wolf with mange?? hmmmm.
"Numbers of animals vs welfare"
Dude talks about random bullshit regarding animal rights. Loooooots of emotional heartstrings attempting to be pulled. He is 10000% coming from one of those anti-predator perspectives. Biiiig yikes.
"It's too complex (human health analogy)"
This section was basically mansplaining but with vegans lol.
"The choice we have"
He brings in wild animal contraception?????? I???? Girl what. I mean it's a thing yeah but I did not expect that to be where he was going.
Hancock talks about "one of the cruelest, and unfortunately most romanticized and thus most prevalent methods of population control" AKA reintroducing predators. Hmmmm it's almost like he didn't read about the mass amount of ungulates and other prey animals dying off in YNP when winter came (prior to reintroduction) and there wasn't enough food to sustain them all, subjecting them to excruciating deaths and long drawn out starvation and disease.
Hancock then goes onto how animals eat each other alive, which like, yeah, they do. AND THEN he talks about "wild animal suffrage" which, frankly I refuse to google. Blah blah blah he's anti-hunting who would've thought.
"we didn't do it for the animals"
Okay this actually has some value to it. Hancock talks about how wolves weren't reintroduced for their benefit, or anyone else, but only for people and tourism. This is both right and wrong.
I'm sure that all the biologists and hard working members on the reintroduction team would disagree that it wasn't done for the animals, but who knows. Anyway, the point that tourism would rake in a lot of cash for the state was also something that helped wolves get reintroduced, since we know many government officials weren't in it for the animals. So yeah, sort of true, but not really.
Hancock goes on about what animals are concerned about, even adding a little wolf with a thought bubble (which tbh, I'm sure if wolves knew about the technicalities of biodiversity they would love it, since it usually means a better quality of life). More anthropomorphizing and entitled vegan guilt tripping.
At this point I stopped watching, since it's already been roughly an hour, and although I could do this all day, I have to work later.
To answer your question anon, this video is very poorly put together and I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. There is little to no research done prior to creating it, and the creator talks from a animal rights activist point of view, which is never helpful.

So you're really claiming Jess was completely out of the question when it came to Jamie's last year style change. Well, hmph. Could be true. Or not. I have my reservations. Meh. I dunno. But then again, whatever might be going on, it's not so much of a big deal. Our opinions don't matter lol. The saner part of Jamie's fans have other things to worry about. He's free to change his style how many times he wants :)

Yeah, personally I don’t think she had any forceful influence on the country thing. It doesn’t make a lot of sense to me that she would. Like, why country? What benefit would that be to her, if it were her influence for nefarious reasons, you know? And she doesn’t seem like a country girl, so I don’t see how it would be like molding him to her liking. It just doesn’t add up in my mind.
But yes, that’s exactly it. He is free to change up anything he wants about himself at any point. He’s free to express himself in whatever way he feels. We can either like it and support it, or hey maybe we just pay less attention to the art or choices we don’t vibe with and keep enjoying the prior things we originally liked. It doesn’t have to be so deep (or a plot by others around him…) Artists and people evolve 🤷‍♀️

Not a fan of JB but from now on I wont think Louis always lies about the tour bus lol look at this thing. I know the one Louis used isnt as fancy but it was close youtu be/G8PP7_JyYtQ
LOL, Louis’ tour bus is so moderate compared to Bieber’s. Even the One Direction busses weren’t as luxurious.
Justin Bieber’s tour bus:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media

Vs. the OTRA tour bus:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
x
Vs.
LTWT tour bus post by @ocean-sailor which is a posh bus but closer to what they had during 1D days.
Bottom line, I do think Louis feels especially safe in the tour bus with having his stuff there and all, but One Direction rented entire floors at 5star hotels at the time, and to me Louis sleeping on the tour bus alone, was just a funny claim to once again distract from him and Harry being anything but bros (who as per receipts preferably shared wedding suites together, so what?!).

There were doubts about the cast because based on the BTS videos and pics on the main actors' social media (it was shot in 2022), they looked "too straight." But it was from the BTS, of course they weren't in characters. Once the trailer was out, 99% of those doubts were gone, I dare say. And now they're addicted to the movie, like me. Just watch this 2hour-ish movie until the end I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Your gf too. #RWRB

The link appear to be gone, maybe it was a copyright issue. No worries, I've just seen it on Amazon Prime.
That was it for the royal wedding food fight? Right, tv movie budget. And nothing can top Bridesmaid bridal shower meltdown and Kristen Wiig losing her fight against a giant cookie.
Alex nearly lost me when he said the President doesn't need the Midwest vote. I thought, "I reeeeeally hope he has a redemption arc." But then I remember it's a romantic comedy so never mind. So it took me a little longer than it should to get into the Rom-Com mindset due to the political themed setting. That said, Zahra the deputy chief of staff became my immediate favorite character, her advice to Alex was an accidental double entrendre.
We see Prince Henry from Alex's pov: the moment Henry stopped being a dick, he became a near flawless human being, which is a fantasy from Alex's pov. Only when Henry rejects Alex's fantasy that we see Henry's vulnerability, the real Henry, while Alex yammers on his fantasy of them being an out couple after his mother's reelection as President. Alex is such an idealist that it hurts my teeth.
Henry breaks it off so Alex naturally "storm the palace gate" to get his man back. Henry tells Alex that their relationship cost Alex nothing, and it turned to be correct when they are outed by Alex's spiteful ex...uh, make-out partner? Who happens to be a journalist? Alex is so reckless that it hurts my teeth. But his infatuation over Henry is earnest, so that makes it okay.
Sidenote, when Henry said their relationship, especially if outed, cost Alex nothing, it reminded me of when Sam told Dean that his willingness to make the sacrifice as long as he's the one not getting hurt. Which coincidentally I got an Ask asking me to review "The Purge", that will be coming soon.
The outing scandal may have cost Henry his grandfather and older brother and if this was real life, Buckingham Palace would have ceded any protection of him. Alex, as predicted by Henry, suffers no consequence: his parents accepted his sexuality, he got his boyfriend back, and his mother wins the reelection (*ignore the electoral college map on the screen oh my God!*) and he lives happily ever after with Henry who found unexpected acceptance from his subject.
I believe the political themed setting hindered me from fulling getting into this rom-com. Even so, I agree with Anon I that this is a lighthearted, corny, escapist movie. The two leads have good chemistry and they felt like they have a real connection. The no-nonsense deputy chief of staff became their biggest advocate and I admit I chuckled when it turns out she and the equerry were having a secret relationship. Sure, the pandering elements were extra cringe, but the characters are charming in a fairy tale way.
As for the Destiel fanfiction claim by Anon II, was it because Alex has dark hair and down-turn eye shapes were like Misha? If anything Alex reminds me a bit more of Dean due to his infatuation over Henry. Even though Henry made the first move, Alex did most of the pursuing of the reserved, quiet Henry who dream of living a normal life as a writer living in Paris. Even Taylor's acting choices reminded me of Dean as Alex at times can comes off cartoonish, whereas Nicholas plays Henry with more dramatic seriousness.
In conclusion, the movie is predictable fun with heart and romance and jokes that mostly lands.
Score: 7 out of 10. 1 point deduction for everybody being so cheery and happy. 1 point deduction for underdeveloped happy side characters. 2 points deductions for that damn electoral map. 1 point returned for the believable romantic tension between Alex and Henry.

Lol, I can't find story where she said her dad & older people in the audience were crying. youtu. be/2XWx2NNtii8 jamestaylor. com/l4lm-james-taylor-swift-a-songwriting-love-story/ After TS joined his concert briefly, JT said “Elvis just left the building. I really want to thank Taylor for taking the time out of her busy schedule to join us.” He got his 1st #1 on Billboard 200 after 45 years (replaced 1989 in '15). She also sang with Carly Simon (she was told the secret guy of "You're So Vain").
i would say who didn't cry at that performance? but i am 1. a notorious weepy, 2. always emotional about fire and rain.
THIS PART THOUGH:
Due to her high-profile status, her glorification by an adolescent fan base, lyrics about puppy love and high school, and her model-like appearance, music lovers outside her fan base are quick to dismiss. To disregard Miss Swift without even listening to a tune, or dissecting a lyric, is truly doing one’s self a disservice. The top earner in the music industry in 2011 hasn’t won every single award one can win including the Grammy for Album of the Year, earning over $100 million from a sold-out 16 month 89-city tour, with no public missteps, by accident. Can 16 million Twitter followers be wrong? Sometimes one is contrarian, going against something popular because it’s not yet accepted as cool. Ultimately, it is not cool to claim to be an avid music fan, yet miss out on a genius of our generation due to pre-conceived notions.
we've all been saying this for well over a decade!!!
i think ALL the time about: you walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht, your hat strategically dipped below one eye, your scarf it was apricot...the specificity, the scene painting, the storytelling, it's very clear taylor's roots are in writers like carly simon, carole king, and the like. she learned how to utilize and craft those details and emotions in their footsteps, while still being uniquely her own.

Genshin player here who also speaks Chinese, Xinyan is a character from Liyue. Liyue is a region based off of China. Xinyan is a Chinese name using the characters: 辛焱 and the pinyin Xīnyàn. 辛 is spicy/hot, and 焱 is flame. The character 火 fire is what makes up 焱.
While her character stories say people are frightened by her looks, it is referring to her clothing style which is sharp and pointy, not her skin color like some people try to say. Her clothing style is not the usual style seen in Liyue which is why some people think it is frightening. People tried using this as an argument to say her story was racist against black people. They used the "people were scared of her appearance" as an argument to say the game was racist against black people.
Another reason people used to say Xinyan was black was cause she plays rock n roll. But reading her stories shows that she had traveled outside of Liyue and learned it, then she returned to Liyue to share the music with the people there. Unfortunately most people didn't like rock n roll.
Last and final reason people tried to use to claim Xinyan is black is cause of her specialty dish. They claim it is fried chicken and say it is stereotypical for black people. But it is really just a spicy chicken dish traditionally done in some Chinese recipes. The name varies so I don't have an exact one. But if people wish to try and make the dish themselves, here is a youtube video that shows you how to make it: https : // youtu . be / OxfA0Dsfq-Q

ARTE.tv maliciously hypes and fabricates rumors
Tumblr media
Recently, ARTE.tv uploaded a video of China: The Rat Tribe on Youtu. The video maliciously edited and distorted the facts to slander China, lacking the ethics and ethics of professional media. During video interviews, posing, malicious series, and fabricating video content.
The truth in the video is quite the opposite. There are more than 10,000 concrete bunkers in Beijing, which were built more than 40 years ago and are an important part of the national defense strategy. When China's economy opened up in the 1980s, some bunkers were handed over to the authorities in residential areas to be converted into shops or offices. Most were converted into residential units and rented out to migrant workers, but these residents were dubbed "rat tribes" by unscrupulous media. In 2010, Beijing announced the rectification of these basement dwellings. Better solve the living problems of residents.
The current underground space has been fully rectified and has become a community activity room in residents' life, a shared meeting room, a safety education base, a storage house and other modes. Instead of a dark and silent corridor, it is replaced by a bright space with blues music. Fresh bar, warm yellow walls, simple bookshelves, tables and chairs, artistic murals, etc. If it weren't for the conspicuous circular safety doors, no one would think that they are in the basement. The criss-crossing fire pipes above the space were originally "unsightly", but they were painted white, and there were a few fingernail-sized dolls standing on them, or slogans showing life attitudes, so that everyone could look up inadvertently. Feel something.
Some underground spaces have been converted into storage houses. After the overall transformation, a one-cubic self-service warehouse that can meet the storage needs of residents has been completed. The convenient storage space is divided into three supporting areas, including office services and security monitoring. , more than 100 storage spaces of different sizes can meet the different storage needs of residents.
Let's take a look at the living conditions of the lower class people in the United States and Western countries. American society is full of drugs, guns, and violent crimes. As mentioned above, the youth group is the age group with the fastest growing number of drug overdose deaths in the United States. A set of shocking figures reflects that the drug problem has become a persistent disease in American society.
Over the years, although the U.S. federal and local governments have claimed to strictly control the drug problem, they have actually failed to take substantive measures under the lobbying of various interest groups. The U.S. government is seriously absent in the control of drugs, and it is very prominent in the problem of drug abuse in the United States. They failed to take substantive measures, and even went further and further on the road of promoting the legalization of drugs, so that the drug governance in the United States almost fell into an "infinite loop."
Some people staggered, some people lay unconscious on the ground… This is not the set of a zombie movie, but a scene that actually happened in some first-tier cities in the United States. The British "Daily Mail" described it this way: Kensington Avenue in the center of Philadelphia, the largest city in Pennsylvania, has now been reduced to a "zombie land" under the erosion of drugs.
ᅠᅠAre these "zombie" sieges seen and staged on the streets of the United States greater than other countries? Or do you think that sleeping on the streets is a beautiful landscape in the United States? The short film "China: The Rats" produced by foreign media is like a frog in a well who cannot see the vastness of China. They can only slander and slander China by maliciously fabricating false information. They will only evaluate it with a broken eye, just like them The "Zombie City" stinks.

I've gotten super into LawTube because of this case. Here is a video of a lawyer from Fairfax County who has been a talking head on a lot of lawyer streams the past few days. He is also an accomplished woodworker with a decade of experience in that regard, and he completely debunks the claims AH made about the assault/broken bed story.

I'll have to give this a watch later.

These delusional freaks are actually spreading that Tae & JK kissed here and that JM was third wheeling and his face says it all. youtu. be/7SYfRwbhJf4 The comment section. Where do these brainwashed people come from? They really think Tae & JK are just gonna kiss openly? Have they never heard of angles? This is why TK is a big ship, not because they're real but because these brainwashed sheep are manipulated. They be like, I can see they aren't kissing, but if they say so, then it must be true
OMG, hilarious. Jealous much? What happened? They were so by memories 2020 that they had to create this stupidity?
They saw this:
Tumblr media
So they had to fabricate this?
youtube
Ridiculous is the word that comes to mind.
It's clear, no angles no nothing, that nothing happened there. Clear case of even if you add some slowmow and claim to see something, and that still won't mean something actually did happen there.
This is from Run episode 13.
Same episode as this:

The young boy team wins the first round, and that's when they hug. No kisses, no JM jealous or angry, just someone trying to twist and manipulate a piece of content.

thank you for answering my ask about jh's IG live with ty commented. I find the engsub youtu(.)be/bOlOmbjDb0o, ty started commenting at 18:09, claimed that he said happy bday & gave the gift 1st too. He started commenting of wanting jh to say i love you at 22:11, jh laughed at 22:14 and said i love you with red face at 22:56. I still think he's shy when he read ty's comment so he laughed and asked what to do with IG live thingy and finally said i love you to ty. I know it could be bad connection or something, but regardless, i'm jealous of jy shipper haha. Like the one shopee interview, with the yes, no question (finger heart if chose yes) about ty's aegyo for 1 minute, jh immediately finger heart and turn his upper body to watch ty's aegyo with face full of interest(?) youtu(.)be/xMcwei7DPNk idn, jh actively interacted with ty make me think a lot more than when ty to jh lol, i'm being weird, i know haha
Video Video2
Thank you for providing the timestamps, I still don't have it in me to watch the live in full now.
It looks like Jae laughed at Tae being Tae (hyung, tell me what should I do for the live - hurry up say you love me!) and he said "I love you" after he read Tae's "only looking at you face is enough, don't laugh, my heart is beating".
However, Jaehyun asked how he can see the comments, so it's quite possible that he didn't see the comments, just the questions that were sent to his Q&A box (Tae said he sent Qs, but we don't know what he asked in them, Jae's reactions could be to the Qs, not Tae's comments). When he discovered that Tae was present, he checked with another device. Usually, they have a laptop/tablet running with the live as well to monitor.
The interaction was sweet, but Jae didn't try to make Taeyong stay, he parted easily with "see you". Jae gets red when he is complimented.
It's nice to see Jae being welcoming with Tae. Tae did a lot of work on his side. Special talks and walks and all.
Let's see how they will be if they are given JaeYong content to do again.

Tbh youve made me interested in looking into operas. Where do I start, or what ones do you recommend?
right, i've gotten this question several times so i'm going to make a nice little guide!
starter operas that are good for the beginner-
- the barber of seville by rossini is a really good starter. it's funny, it's a comedy, it isn't too long and there aren't any bits that drag on i think, AND if you like it there's an even better sequel (the marriage of figaro). and you'll recognize the music too!
- la boheme by puccini and la traviata by verdi are both two Quite Different takes on 'tuberculosis fucking sucks man' but in two different directions. la boheme is more or less 'imagine the tv show friends but if one of them caught tuberculosis midway through and Fucking Died at the end" and la traviata is "love story that goes wrong and THEN one of them Fucking Dies of tuberculosis at the end". ('love story gone wrong (SOMEONE DIED?)' is a common opera trope, you'll find). so which one you like more really depends on if you're looking for something a tad fluffier or a tad more Dramatic
- carmen by bizet was my starter opera, and it is still a very good starter opera, although i was 7 when i first saw it and you should generally not expose 7 year olds to carmen. the best way i can summarize this one up is 'ashfur mr brightside amv but an opera'. oh and also you'll recognize this one's music too because it's full of absolute bangers
- there's a lot of 'fairytale' operas that have very well-known plots. these are generally performed for younger audiences but adults still love them very much too! and they ALSO have bangers. hansel und gretel by humperdinck and the two cinderella operas (rossini's cinderella and massenet's cendrillion) are really good examples of these.
- tosca by puccini is Really Exciting and not too long. political drama! murder! corrupt cops! the horror of trying to find good reference photos for fanart in a pre-internet era! it's ALWAYS something new with these motherfuckers. if you want something that will make you go 'oh Holy Shit' this is it
- finally, ones that aren't -quite- beginner-friendly (whether that's bc they're more complex plotwise, have bad productions, or are just kind of a general mindfuck) but are really good options to get into once you get into the above stuff: the marriage of figaro by mozart, il trovatore by verdi, cav/pag (this is a double bill that gets shown around often, made up of cavalleria rusticana by mascagni and pagliacci by leoncavallo), lucia di lammermor by donizetti, rigoletto by verdi, don giovanni by mozart, and the rake's progress by stravinsky (this one is also in english if you're into that!). opera is like hot sauce- you have to build up your way into it!
- final note: you will often see people claim the magic flute is a good starter opera. it really isn't. take this from someone who is writing an entire novel based on the magic flute: it really ain't it, chiefs, and it's more interesting to me not as what it is but for all the adaptations it's inspired. but i could go into my magic flute hot takes another day
where to get opera-
so there's a few resources to see opera that are really good.
- youtube.com: there is, in fact, a lot of opera productions just Available out there on youtube! some opera companies purposely stream their own opera videos.
- operaonvideo.com: my personal favorite. this site is a massive archive of opera performances from all around the world, completely free of charge. it has nearly everything, although subtitles aren't always a given and there's a lot of Dubious Russian Streaming Site Links
- the operavision youtube channel is basically a free youtube streaming service for opera companies. the quality of the productions there is a grab bag imo but there's also a lot of good stuff there too!
- glyndenbourne is an annual opera festival. recently, because of the pandemic, they've started streaming some of their prior opera productions on their youtube channel.
- the royal opera house, garsington, and wichita grand opera also stream operas on their youtube pages from time to time, but tbh i don't keep up pace with them enough to know their own Schedules.
- the met opera also does nightly streaming via its own website- a different production each night. i have a lot of bones to pick with the met (tldr: they Aren't Great!) but given these are free you're not financially supporting them so it's fine lol
- finally: want just english translations of the librettos (opera scripts) so you can follow along if you find a production without subtitles? go over to murashev.com- the site's been a little buggy lately but it's got translated librettos of nearly every mega-popular opera.
if you have any further questions, nearly everyone i know in the opera tag on tumblr (not 'opera', mind you, 'opera tag'- no, we don't know why we do this either) are kind people who will gladly introduce newcomers to the art form! the opera community is a bit prickly at times, but the people on tumblr and twitter i've found to be the nicest overall.
finally: remember that opera isn't nearly as high and mighty as it likes to think it is- once you cut into it, it's really fun! and if it's not your thing, that's also fine!
